This is six hundred six with Aaron Paul and David James on five lies Yeah, welcome to six o six the morning after a thrilling England win. We will be taking your calls until eleven o'clock this morning. eight.zero eight five, nine hundred nine, six nine three is the number to call Harricane starts a but up right forcept him. Nope, Rice goes towards the penalty spot where he's powerfully out pelling mid of the penal area from the angle shoots across G pence leaves it to Saka. Saka takes it on. it's free against one. of course it comes to Rashford, Rashford b. It's there. David James is here taking your calls this morning over half a century of caps through the three lines stalked on England last night, David. I thought morning everyone first of all, I thought it was a wonderful victory to start with. and I just like the way that England adapted through the game, especially at half times as you mentioned at the beginning and what we saw was A new version, I think of this England. Being pegged back was so frustrating. doing it twice. Oh T Hera. but Thomas Touool side responded. You saw what he wanted them to do in the second half and they did it perfectly. Yeah, I think the pegg back bit scoreing too early is not necessarily a good thing and you know we did score early, which meant Croatia thought they would always get back in the game. They got the two opportunities, no safes from either goalkeeper in the first half For four goals, it wasn't the best football for forty five minutes, but half time, as you say substitutionate I mean, the goal was scored, obviously by Bellingham. the intensity of that second half start was super from England and when Marcus Rashford came on and put the icing on the cake, it actually made what was a really, really good game, a fantastic result, as I said Great finish Marcus Rash Bade Marcus rash finish W it? Are we getting carried away? Are England going to win the World Cup? five nine and nine six nine three Scotland, a good start for Steve Clarks side had to hang on against Haiti in that second half, but Morocco will be a much, much stern test Friday night Yeahah, of course. And when we saw Morocco spells in that first game, they look lively, absolutely lively. However, I think there was a bit where they were trying to impress Brazil and footballers do this, you know, do all the tricks and skills. I don't think Ali was overworked in that game so there was a lot of a lot of looking good but not necessarily substance. I fancy Scotland could do alright you know. eight five nine hundred nine six nine three Scotland fans. No Scotland, no party If you've been out in the USA, if you're heading out to the USA, let us know. Who else do you want to hear from this morning, David? Well, I'm thinking about parents and I'm wondering whether or not they're letting the kids st up. I mean, it was a late kickoff last night. D they let the kids stay up? to watch the game live or do they show them on the iPlayer in the morning I'm also looking at how you watch the game. Are you one person or a supporter who watches the game live or do you do the three minute catch up in the morning?? Got to watch it live. I've got to listen to it. I'm not asking you, I'm asking the listeners. For two last night, we could talk about glorious performance from England, a great result, but what is a good win In the World Cup, what is a good win Aon? Is it one mill and a really dodgy game with three points or is it four two and excitement loads of goals? five nine hundred nine six nine three whoever your team, whoever you support we are with you until eleven o'clock David And Wales fans. Yes. I bumped into a Welsh fan this morning and I wasn't sure if he was happy that England won or disappointed the Scotland one. Are you Welles fan and if you are, who you support eight five nine hundredo nine six nine three eight fivezero five eight on the text. Give us a call this morning Let's go straight to the lines. James is an England fan. James, good morning. How are we feeling this morning Also Wrampton Wondrous fan, which I know you commentate on the championship a lot, you know I you' seeing it J. Yeah, I don't know what your team is, but I think he might be Charalton. Chlton. Now I can't remember he's one our gard and I' somewhere around London. I don't remember for But yeah, listen looking forward to seeing you guys. the Golden Palish next season anyway. Yeah Absolutely fantastic tactics poton. I think you need somebody like call to give them a kick at the backside No unfortunately sound soundthificgate was sort of pretty scared to do that And he really sort of shook him up at that hal time The one thing I don't agree with is the way penalties have been taken in the new era of football. you know I'm quite getting quite old now. but the old days where you just took the prialty now they stop and then they try and you know, take the penalty a second, you know, sort of stop and try and forld the goalkeeper I think that's in my opinion and a lot of my friends on social media We think it's shating. We think you shouldn't be allowed to do that. You just take the penty like you did the second time around And you know, rather than stop and trying to You know, take the power just to me I like the old ways the work, the way it's done properly I don't agree with it at all, I'm afraid but I'll let you guys discuss that disagree with If only we had a goalkeeper on to talk about it. David James F. thanks for calling in, James. One thing I'd like to say is look out for Pompy next season. Anyway, ye I think I'll look out for them ye, definitely Yeah, and Aaron walked him in a Wimbledon tracksuit top today, so I'm not sure if they would be I Nm not sure if you saw Wimbledon. They are in London Well, they used to be but the are they I thought they was in Nilson Kams one Yeah they used to be. Yeah. there's only one club in Wimbledon and we know that. Yeah So there's a couple of things you mentioned there, James. I mean, I think Garis Southgate was capable of saying a few words at half time as well. so I don't think he was He was Thomas Skal was unique in that sense. However, I think what we have in Thomas Suchal, this guy is blunt. He's blunt with the media. He seems to be blunt with the players. I mean, if you go back to the Harry Mcuire thing publicly saying he iss his fifth choice I think this group of England players expect to get what they got at half time because of that first half performance. So That's credits Som us too that's credits to the players for responding with reg goard to the penal is Well, it's not cheat. I mean the rule' is quite simple that you can't stall your final steps. But anyway leading up to it you can, you get players skipping across the front from one side to the other, all this sort of thing Um and had Harry Kay not done the step then it could have been saved and Guardio would not have done encroachment in which case we would have missed that penalty and we could have ended up losing the game. So I'm glad that Harry put the step in in that one It's all mind games, it's all trickery In the end going back on your point, which I thought was interesting. He didn't do the step and he scores but the goalkeeper goes the other way. So I agree with you it was a great game, notot too sure about the the Thomas too cool Gareth Southgate comparison there because I think Gareth had that in his locker. James, can I just say, look, you're making some fantastic points, you know, And I love sort of watching you and hearing you on the TV and the radio. U The difference between Tule and Southgate, I think a lot of England fans sort of I was speaking to on social media last night I think He was too much of their friend, their player' friend and was too cool. Hell tell he tells you straight, a bit like Alex Ferguson, you know, tell you you know, you go out there or brain clloth You go out there and this is what you need to do. And that's what I like. I like the blunt as the straight talking. Absolutely Yeah, James. I both disagree. I think the point about Slely is he is blunt Yeah he's bl' a winner. That's fundamentally it's all about winning the World Cup here. This is the modus operandi. Forget anything else, win the World Cup. Absolutely. But I think Gareth created an environment which, I mean, we got two finals. ar penalty shootouts or slight mishaps, whatever, we were so close to winning something. I think Gareth created an incredible environment. There's a lot of talk at the moment that Thomas Toul has inherited Gareth's environment, but I think he's changed it different way in a good way. And I do agree with you, as I say to you, the fact that Thomas can come out publicly criticize players necessarily, but let play let the public know what he thinks of players. Harry Mcuire was the best one. You're my fifth choice type thing It's kind of like no one else has ever said that. but frustrating for Harrys it might have been. There was no qualms with regard as to what he thought because everyone knew it. So the change room had to know it as well. And I think at halfim, whatever was said at halfim It was on the basis that they knew that Thomas was going to say it, which and again, this is consistency And I'm excited. I was excited before the game. I'm excited more so after the game because of what happened at half time U I think we got the right Garrison was right man at the right time, but at this time we now have another right man. James How far are we going this tournament? We We could have been how far we going Well, I think I think we could win it, but I'm not saying anything comple really. Right. The winners will come from England Spain U I've always liked the Netherlands because I used to like Dennisburg camp Um Agentina And dark courses may be Germany And Ronaldo, please put your boots away, please. I thinkle So James, you've got you've got five teams that could win it. Yes, well, dark horses Senegal. Okay. no, I said one of them, out of one of them A six I go two coures Japan, Japan seven. J James. you've got you've got nearly more saying one of them teams. look, nobody look you can say anybody can win it. Yeah. So look at Greece for forty two one outsiders from the Eururosz and weren't it Yeah. Denmark came in forty eight teams. They won the euros and Denmark comes to the back door in nineteen ninety. She was And they and they went they I think Yugoslavia got disqualified because the w was going on there Denmark coming into the backro. So if anybody's you know, Japan could win it, Senegal could win it I think it's one out of them five. I don't think Portugal will going ot any chance. but we've got a fantastic chance and call's's a blooming winner. He's a winner. He really is, you know. I'd love to haveving my tire club, but I d Championship it give it a few years, you probably get your wish then Wolampton Wandereers. James, thank you. great call. eight ero eight five, nine hundred nine six nine three. England fans. Call us, let us know. whereere did you watch it last night? How was nine o'clock kickoff, putut the old body clock off a little bit. These kickoffs have been all over the shop How many you stayed up before you stay up for any of the l ones Do you know what though? It might be Fustrating for some, a little bit awkward because of timings, but I know it's called the World Cup, but what I love about it is the fact that the World Cup is all over the place and there's speaking of people in football about how these tournaments should be in the same kind of locations all the time. well then it doesn't become a World Cup, does it? And it becomes a challenge for fans to watch And I love that I've done a couple of two AMs. I watched the first after the USA game, three nil up but after I was I'm going to bed I did I did it one Scotland as well. watched the ent entire Scotland game. He too magnificent second. I think I might have done a catch up. Th minute highlights. Stewart is in Eess six. Good morning Stuart Morning Well what do we what do we make a last night I thought it was an excellent performance at the end of the day by England. I was quite happy to go in too all. I think Croatia made a good game of it Certainly had an effect. We were much tighter at the back we were still fluid through the middle and up frront. and in the second half, I think We were much the better team. He made three changes and basically the only difference was the name on the shirt, the three players that came in slotted into the positions that they Ros that left had filled and there was no real difference. I thought it was an excellent performance all round And It was a good result for us and on that, I think we can certainly go well into this tournament, I'd like to see us certainly into a semifinal, possibly a final So that you'll be happy with the semif finals Stuart Yeah, the The second half. I mean, I think literally was in a T talk about D Greavesy. game of two halves. U the second half performance Do you think that the conversation in that change in room was needed given that first off performance no safe for me the goalkeeper, even though there are four goals Yeah, I think it was. We'd let in some they scored a couple of good goals, but they could have been Earlier. And though I think the conversation was needed. It was accepted, it was taken on board and they came out a better strronger tighter unit at the back. King Croatia Well, they didn't really have much of a a chance in the second half. So I think it was a better performance in the second half of the first. And that comes down to what the manager said half time and how it was received and how it was put into practice Croatian goalkeeper though Lavakovich magnificent, I some Certainly in the second half he was mad in the second half wasn't? they were all there I mean, you got to make the saf. there's a thing in a goalie goie world Ger Union. The question about a save is what would it look like if it win in And I think every say that he made Had it gone in, we wouldd have said the golders should have saved it Even though Rick this morning was suggesting that Jordan Pickford would be unhappy about the first goal My point is every goal is unhappy about every goal, irrerespective of whether you could have saved it or not. I thought Jordan did well. get across to it. The fact that he got a hand to it made it look like He should have saved it. So he he did well ' one you think Croatian goalkeeper. he did well. they all hit him. I do like him the Croatian goalkeeper, but I just think that the saves he made yesterday from the corner Anthony Gordon's header is straight at him the second or the second header is straight at him. So there's a bit where it's kind of you expect him to make the saves The thing with Jordan is had he not die for that first goal Everyone would have been saying what a wonderful goal it was, but because he died for it and got a hand to it It's almost like he should have done more So he did well to get in a position. He was unfortunate not to do a little bit more, but it's a low shot through bodies. O the initial bit is low and through body. There's a few saves in there. Oh eight eight five nine I have to catch up on the nine mines Th clips. Absolutely you will. the extended highlights eight five o five eight on the text Well you want to get in touch with us this morning and we want to hear from you this morning. How was last night the late kickoff? Did you enjoy it? W it worth stand for go out as well. The roads of London so, so busy after the game last night. Everyone just sort of like cycling off. and heading back home after after a night watching watching Thomas Tus three lines in their World Cup opener. for to it finish lets it from the Englandoss with Joh Murray. happy and yeah also relieved of course because there a lot of pressure on the first match. you want to have a good start. It's big opponent, top ten team in the world he wanted to prove a point and was quite emotional and was up and down and It took us a while to settle in especially in the first half Our decision making was not on the highest level on the ball, we struggled to find rhythm When we could have played short, we played long, when we could have played long, we played short. We were not precise in our passing. We were slow in our decision making sometimes So it was a bit of an up and down even off the ball, we were not like connected as we should be. we didn't get the press one hundred percent right And also we were leading twice. It felt like we have no something to protect. and we were always stepping back and back to protect something, which is also not us. So I'm very happy about the result and also about the second half because we showed a good reaction And the players went for it, played with courage and played with intensity. and we played on the front foot, created a lot of chances c got some great goals the goals from from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona this season. It does help, doesn't it when you've got quality like that? What about the Dude Bellingam without qualities?act. What about the Dude Bellingham gold? you know Was that a big decision to include him or was it an easy decision? He scores a goal like that. It's an easy decision to have chewed in the team. It's a very difficult decision to let Morgan Rogers out for what he did first in Willa and especially also for me and for us since I'm in charge. so that was the tough one But I'm very happy also of of course, how Tude played because Tude knows that he does not have to do it alone He can rely on the others. He thrives in these circumstances. We know that. he can be more he can be more economic, he can rely on others. He needs to be a reliable team player, which he absolutely was in the last seventeen days and today so well done And the guys from the bench were amazing. they We can rely on them at the moment and it has to stay like this the next weeks because we will need everyone Thomas two call the England manager talking to our football correspondent John Murray there.o eight zero eight five nine ero nine six nine three. Give us your thoughts on England's performance last night. this World Cup overall as well. It's at its critics, but we're well into it and we really want to know what you're thinking of David, H Post, you been with Thomas to we know he's a winner and they won last night. we're on our way Yeah, yeah. I'm just laughing at you We're well into it. We've all played the first game. We're well into it. I know It's been able' a week off. ha we l been Everyone's played their first game now and we're on to the second one. But we are well into it I' impressed I'm just I've written down written down a couple of things here I would have loved to have play for this guy Thomas T The way that he speaks, he was talking there about, you know, we're twice in lead and we tried to protect it and that's not us. It's kind of like he doesn't want this sit back we're in lead mentality Um, Team players, he's talking about U the the way that players have played for the team. Um There's a there's conversation that he has with the media and the public which and I alluded to this earlier, he has to be having the same conversation in the changer room And the players must be very clear on what they're expecting from him or he expects from them Um Highly impressed. He articulates very well And I said there's no fuss about what he's talking about. It seems so obvious that you would love to just be in that cham room and going, I know what a manerager wants because he just told me he's also told a. There's messag from Fabiaapell. U Ka Yeah. I love that. I meet Fabio quite a lot now and he is one of the loveliest guys that I know Um And I just thiss part of me would have loved him to have been that guy as the England manager But he was direct and there was no confusion in what he wanted, but he didn't articulate as well as Thomas Sukle seems. That era was so so. it feels so, so long ago.it five, nine, nine, six, nine, three, let's go back to the lines. Kerin, goodood morning Good morning So we fing after last night. Absolutely ecstatic. Like if you look at other than the Iran result of a couple of competitions ago England have never really looked comfortable in an opening game today, all right, first offalf was a bit bit sloppy A halftime what was it Anthony Barry said at halfftime that that him and Thomas weren't happy with the first half and look look at the change in the second half. It was incredible Yeah. I mean, that's good point. I mean Karen did this came up in conversation earlier today. Do you think England looked a little bit nervous in that first half at any point Um, in the first, I don't think I mean, the backline looked a little bit nervous, but It was a couple of times Conser, I think it was got stuck with the ball a couple of times in his own box or very close to it there was a couple of poor decision m, a few poor decisions on passing at the back and Going forward, we didn't look too nervous. Going forward traditionally we're a team that doesn't look confident going forward. But yesterday the whole game I thought we look confident going forward. but in the second half it was another level Yeah, I mean, my just just you know, my view on the nervousness. I think players are allowed to be nervous We're going into a World Cup. There's a lot of expectation up against and you know it became kind of cliched in a way that Croatia is still capable force blah, blah, blah. I think they're entireibly bit nervous. The thing and I'm interested to know what your thoughts were the way that they reacted Eespecially at halfime, it' easy because there was a clean break there, but the way they reacted even in that nervousness of potential nervousness of the first half didn't actually see the heads go down. And I mean, Thomas was talking about it there. there one mill up, they get jaggged back to one or a two one up two walls right at the end of the first stile. There was no part where I looked at the England side, even if they were nervous where they felt down And that second half reaction was exceptional. What do you think I completely agree. If you look at If you look at other games, look at what I quite like to bring up at the minute because it was the score for me, the score completely doesn't show the quality of the team they played against and that's the Germany game where they won seven one when Germany conceded The one goal All right, they went on to win seven one, but they didn't look confident the whole game And Kuracal looks a lot better than the scoreline suggests. They had the momentum cur out. They the momentum, but a lot of people have said into the international break, the hydration break Absolutely It's not a hydration breraak It sorry. Okay. we don't we have no p We've been told we don't play hard Rison Brick We don't call we don't play halves in the World Cup anymore. We play quarters. We play quarters. Yeah. Okay. we play we play quarters but just going back to the actual point. It let the air out the blalloom for Cris out. It felt like they had the momentum. they were pushing Germany, they were pressing Germany and Germany are a little bit worried. But again, it gives Yulian Naglesan the opportunity to reset and go boys what are you doing? And they're going to win seven one. Yeah, I mean, we'll get onto the hydration break, tactical break, the four quarters and stuff. The one thing I'd say caring about Germany They scored seven goals because they could score seven goals and that bothers me in a competitive way that would bother me. And if I'm an England player again, not that every England player would have seen the game. some of them might not watch any football in this World Cup so far and that's entirely how they they want to get right for the games If you're looking at a German side who go we're playing a lesser opposition here with three one up, with four one up Actually, let's make it five, let's make it six, it let's make it seven They're the teams you don't want to play because they never stop playing and they just want to score more goals. Some teams, I think this is what Thomas Touke alluded to in his press conference afterwards I to go ahead and then they try and protect the lead Will Germany go ahead and want to go ahead more What do you think? I think I think we've got I think we've got a position now where if you look at the second half last night, England are also a team that score and want to score more The two goals came from a little bit of nervousness from the back. Jordan Pickford did brilliantly save the first one to touch the first one, even if it didn't go in the back even if it went in the back of the net. I think England are in that position as well. I think the only reason we conceded the two we did was because of a bit of nervousness in the first half Croatia Croatia had a couple of good opportunities in the second half and couldn't put them away. and that's because the whole sort of vel of level of nervousness in thenglish England team just drops and they became even more confident than they were in the first half. But I think if you look at the if you look at the raw stats when it comes to the German Germany team Germany haven't kept a clean sheet in an international competition for the last three games. And if they come up against a team that's got just as much confidence as them I likely defense an nooyer and gl is going to struggle. Yeah, okay, so this is interesting C. So as as a former goalkeeper for England, I was priding myself and the team on clean sheets. It was almost like Micolrter or talked about this in Premier League you know, defenses, win leagues and all that stuff I've seen in football this season more so than any other that the successful teams and without contradicting myself about Arsenal, teams go out there and go, we might concede it a goal but we don't care because we're going to score one more than you like the old song. And it's almost like we're going to score two goals. evenven if you score one, we're not worried. That's what I looked at and saw in that England teams nice. It's high octane, It's edgy is see Kiran fundamentally We enjoyed it. I mean, how many times have you watched England over the years? I mean, my first t was Euro ninety six everyvery single tournament, that phrase England expects. you go into a game and then knock it around the back l you something and you just feel it, you feel your heart thumping yesterday. That Initial chunk in the second half was someound of the best footb but this must think relless It's kind of like one knil is a perfect scoreline in my old my old value was like, yeah, Kpts going she, one knill. It's always on the edge and there's one moment could change this whole game But now it's kind of like four two's Better You don't have to. I think goalkeepers are always going to be after that clean sheet, aren't they? that's just the way it is with keepers. but for a casual observer like me I just want to see goals. The mortage still as long as U Gillingham C home Aaron S sports joing him as well Yeahortunate unfortunately, I'm a Gillham fan but no, as far as like goalkeepers you plenty of you seem you haven't seen a clean cheating about for three years. Yeah.. You look buttered at the end of the last season. Kiran, I tell you what, who was very quickly who was going win the World Cup U either England or Argentina Well it's down to two now, we're getting closer getting closer eight five nine hundred nine six nine three. didid you enjoy last night? I mean, it's high octane. That's the phrase I like to use. And I know David James is in to talk about clean sheets and that's goal keepeping currency. goals are strikerers currency and outfield players currency and they they go and they're the metrics that you measured on. I know you want to keep clean sheets, but fundamentally That it was fun. Right, So my debi in the World Cup And u Algeria In Cape Town Millmill Can she One of the worst World Cup games in the history of the World Cup. It was terrible Yeah, and Anicleine Shaton was my debut and everything about everything about it from my goal keepeping side of things was perfect Not necessarily pas, but it was you can't get any better than baby a clean sheet I would have rather had a for to win and conceded two goals like last night because we'd have had three points and not one. But at the time It was about keeping clean sheets. And I think the currencies you talk about is great. you know having records and stats on clean sheets is great, But if you can win every game for too You end up winning a World Cup. and Eland won a Wor Cup four two So just kind of forget the clean sheets and don't worry about conceding goals. Just trust that the outfield players and the Strike force England have got A're going to score four goals Speaking of Jillingham, their manager Gareth Ainsworth once told me goals change games, points make prizes and that is what it's all about. Oh eightero eight five. nine hundred nine six nine three. didid you enjoy the England game last night? Would you prefer something a bit more subtle a one nil a two nil, keepe it tight, get it done, see you later ono the next one More your calls here on six hundred six on five live after the latest BBC news T's biggest worldorld Cup debate This is six hundred six with Aaron Paul and David James on five Lve Good morning everybody. Welcome back to six hundred six the morning after the night before for Thomas Tuchl's three lions for two winners over Croatia in Dallas. Let's get some of your messages. Good morning, Mark In Congleton morning chaps I thought Englland were excellent last night. However, the only downside for me personally was Pickford strip. It was awful. lookooked like you'd been sprayed by a slurry spreader Who on eararth designed it? I quite liked. that was quite fruity ru Yeah, It's like covever shades of orange. I'm not sure if you walk into the local sports shop and ask for a fruitity goalkeeper's jersey, they'll pull out jazz. Maybe they will do now, yeah. I mean gone are the days of your classic shirts. As I said, that one in South Africa that deep green. Can I tell you a little story. Gne, which is quite apt. When we played Croatia in two thousand four, England had a blue goalkeepper's jersey and a black goalkeeper's jersey with red bits on it. Yeah, yeah yeah And in their wisdom, UEFA referees turned around and said that there be a colour clash, so we couldn't wear either So I said to the kid man, what about the training top? He went, Yeah, I can print England stuff on it. So the goalkeing jersey against Croatia, which you won for too. was actually a training top. Nice. The only time it's ever appeared in England. Nice. I mean, you've got quite the story with Church, Of course, you had an out field one printed up when you're at Man City. Yeah, and I gave it to the Man City Museum Nice And they lost it. Oh, great. David in Mid Wells point on heat at the World Cup Let's not get carried away. The Dallas Aircon stadium was twenty one twenty two degrees playing the heat elsewhere is a totally different ballgame. Thoughts on the heat and this chat Aircon no airc someome of the stadiums are open air Met Lve stadium where the final will be. there's no roof Yeah, I think the hydration break makes sense in a hot game, of course. Whether it needs to be three minutes, this is a one commentary and it was why don't they just turn off the clock or stop the clock instead of running the clock and adding time on at the end. But it's not the hydration break is it's a technical break. We have four quarters. I think it's a good opportunity whether you like it or not. I think it's good opportunity for the team to reassess their position. But yeah, twenty two degrees. I mean people wearing long sleeve shirts They didn't need a water break yesterday. You a hydration b. I mean in shorts, anythingthing above five degrees shorts. I lived in Iceon for six months. It was shorts, even if it was snowing. Scott who always supports England in the World Cup too. this is an anonymous message. I haven't got a name on this. but can you dial back a bit on the arrogance? You win one match and suddenly it's coming home anyyway The women brought it home a while back. alsoso, can we agree that Scotland's fans have won the World Cup already? The women did bring it home one hundred percent. But this is a different trophy that we need to bring home. We can bring multiple trophies home. That's I don't know. Anonymous. So I'm trying to work out because I've never heard the deal orkinner talking about the reason for these lyrics. Is it coming home because football belongs to England Or is it coming home because we're just bringing it back home? we're at home in England Well, we couldn't have brought it back home Well actually. you know what I mean? No That was made for No, that was made for the euros. So it was already there. I mean, the trophy is already there, It's kind of staying home. Oh eight five, nine hundred nine six nine had a couple of really interesting ones as well. One, goodood morning to the Reding foootball Club, CEO, Joe Jacobson. Of course proud Welshan he said, I am not supporting England It's been ingrained in me since birth. straight up there. This is a fascinating message, by the way. This has come to us from Hanover in Germany. Good morning to Mimi, you said, I'm feeling so bad because people are saying this was Curacsel's first World Cup game and Germany didn't have to do all of this. And I think they're right. We did way too much play like this against the big teams because this is really shameful and now I'm sad. They were just happy to be there and we did this for no reason. M me, the German fan in Hanover E you know this part of me, which I agree they could have been nicer, but as I said, from a competitive point, you do not want to play Germany when you know they're prepared to Csel smashed. Youve got to be clinical.it five nine z nine six, nine three that is what England were in particular in that second half. goodood morning. Richard, you want to talk about Je Bellingham. How are we? Oh very good thanks, May. How are you doing? Yeah, all good than you, Pa. awayere you go? Fl's yours. Yeah, it was something Dude Bellingham said in his interview off the game last night about Thomas Tull's halfime talk, how he persuaded them to play without fear and not to kind of worry about losing And think about Jude Bellingham's body language, like, if you watch him in this World Cup and the way he interacts with too cool and compare him to how he was playing for Gareth Souskate, kicking water bottles all over the place There's a nervousness to England normally. and I realize now looking back over the decades we play with this massive weight of expectation all the time and the nerdves get to us and we stop playing And finally, that second half last night England played without fear and played at the level. I think these players play like in the Pmier League all the time And I don't think I've ever seen an England team play with that level of confidence before Richard can I just interject here a minute you're talkking about Jrew Bellingham. he's never played in the Premier League. but the well I think was And listen to Thomas Sukal, I think the three goal scores, none of them play in the Premier League. but the what I think is interesting you talk about that nervousness that Thomas Suchal, I was saying this earlier in the show, the fact that Tomas Suchal is telling the public what he thinks of his players. and I don't it's not derogatory, it's just the way that he sees it. I think that chang the room. it would have been easy for Thomas S to go, this is why I expect because you know why I expect and just go and do it And they did. I don't think they were worried about and goinges back to what was saying with Aaron before about clean sheets. They've conceded goals and sometimes that's enough to put a team off. Oh we shouldn't concede goals and we have done and we got it wrong, but it was kind of like, ye, you're gonna do this, and you'll concede more in a tournament But you also go to school more than your p. I'm aree with that b So I just wanted to say finally that I think it's like don't underestimate badly fear can impact te because I'm a Spurs fan and I can tell you that when a team is afraid They can't win a game Richard You have to see Aaron's face there. Aaron definitely doesn't support sppurs. I was born in Totham, mate? I'm so dont support your local socialulation. Yeah, I wanted to go on I wanted to go on v Jud Bellingham and onene thing which I thought was quite interesting in his interview post match last night, great interview with John Murray and he talked about People have criticised them this year. The fact that people have been open about it and he said, you know what? sometimes I deserve it. And I thought this kid starting to grow into a man and he looked like a mannus that, he looked confident the shoulders were there. you know, even the finish it wasn't as great as finish. It wasn't an amazing finish. it bobbled a bit, but it's the fact that he kept his head, he held the defender off. he did everything you need to do and he looks s just like a mature footballer. I know it' silly saying it, because the man plays for Real Madrid, but I don't know there's something which where you just feel he's grown up of it. think I think I I haven't watched Real Madrid throughout the season. Obviously they weren't successful this year. There's a bit where I think that in the past, going back to what you said, Richard There was a bit in the past where Jude Bellingham was ysically and mentally shattered the end of season. So going into into major tournaments as a physically shattered player. I think he looks fresher Uh, this season, uh or this this this tournament the run and the finish. I mean, he was given the opportunity because of defending, if you want to get technical about it, but the finish was great was in the bottom corner and There's a part where Jude being Jude is what the team need him to be Jordan Pickford is obviously been brought up in many many a conversation about his antics behind that defense. As long as he's being Jordan Pickford and as long as Jude's being Juded I think the team happy with that But what we're now seeing in albeit in one game so I don't want to get too carried away is Jude Bellingham being a proper, decent dude as a footballer. It's amalgamation of personalities, isn't it Yeah, and you got again, I mean we're sort of giving Thomas two cool laaudits here and rightly so because he's got this group of characters to perform well? Do you think England can win it Richard. I do. I mean, I haven't felt confident about England since eero ninety six when I was certain we were going to win because that's what should happen But since then, I've never felt as confident as I do right now, which is probably an overreaction to one half I think twoool's got them playing like a clubside who are confident they're going to win every game How important is it that the fact again, we call him a winner. He is a winner. Chelsea lifted the European Cup This is a man He's not the only international manager in the Wor Cup who's a winner I know, but the fact we've got him. I don't really care about everyone else. We've got him Richard, Angeloy is one of a few things. I did Pasilo on the other night Yeah, but who said Brazil won't w it? How did Brazil get on the? I'm just saying we've got we've gone out, we've done our thing. And again, you saw Anthonyarryesterday sorry Richard I want sorry Richard you just got to listen to me and me I apologize you guys. You know, you look at that interview with Anthony Barry. And they remarked on television that he looked angry and you know, you could see Thomas Du absolutely you, raging at the fact that England had gone, they' gone ahead twice, they' conceded twice. But the intensity of the press in the second half at the start was it was stunning. And that's what you want to see. You want to see the edge of the seat stuff. you want England to go and capitalize on it. We scored two goals, could have had six Richard happy with with the way we played in the second half Pre ecstatic actually. I think it's the difference between expectations for a result and expectations for a way that we play. And Thomas Tles' got the latter, I think, which is right So interesting, Richard, It's wall at half timee so it's dra Had it been Nil Nil would you have been happier or frustrated It's difficult to compare with a hypothetical, but I would I would have say that was normal as an England fan to go in nervously at halfime Nil Nil feels very normal No Like nervousness is normal. as an England fan. And I ask in that second half like when Croatia had a when they had a corner in the last few minutes and we were We were leading comfortably. I wasn't nervous and normally I'm nervous every timing you can see the corner so. I think there's a difference now Richard, first time caller Make sure you call us again. eight five nine nine six nine three greatreat call there from from Richard in London. Get your calls into us with you until eleven o'clock this morning, former England goalkeeper, David James alongside us. We look back at that for to win over Croatia. wonder if from some Scotland fans this morning as well. If you're in the United States, maybe you are flying out today ahead of tomorrow's game against Morocco, eleven o'clock live here on five L going to be absolutely stunning that game. Really looking forward to it. Give us a call this morning if you are part of the Tartan Army, mayaybe you're on your way back or you are back from the United States after that opener against Haiti. Let's talk to Andrew. Good morning, Andrew. Give us your thoughts on the game last night Good morning. Before I get into that, I'm a lifelong London chef and Wednes's supporter. go back to nineteen sixty one when Spurs were last champions of this country and Wednesday was second and we blew it by only winning one of our last seven matches that year And of course, I go back to sixty six World Cup finals as well. And England it was a magical result last night. when you think about it, when was the last time in fact it's never happened in history that England scored four goals in their opening match in the Wor Cup In fact, we scored more goals in that one game last night and we scored the entire three group matches in ' sixty six when we got through. We weren't scoring goals. We were very strong defensively, but we weren't scoring the goals at the end of the day, a great start. The first question I want to ask David James there, of course, is goalkeepers penalty that Harry Caine took You know, what are the goalkeper supposed to do? These days can I take penalties myself and we need to run up and just hit the ball straight away. These days so many penalty takers seem to stutter. Now when you stutter there, the goalkeie's got one of two choices. and I've asked David what he would do. One, are you going to move because you stuttered, you're committed and he decide to move and hope that it goes the right way that you moved. Or two, are you going to stand perfectly still and not move at all until that ball is actually kicked in case it goes down the middle because it may have panels it the score with the ball going straight down the middle if only the goal hadn't moved. He'd have saved it. you could probably count them hundreds over the years. What would you have done, David? How would you have react to that? Well, if with my experience in penry shootouts was probably Portugal two thousand four where I obviously didn't do enough because I didn't save any, even if they did miss one. The difficulty is and it's obviously famous now with the water bottles. Jordan Pickford, I think sort of brought that to our attention in one of the major finals the The goalkeepers can study the penalty takers U Bono was an interesting one and if if Morocco, Scotland, Bono has an interesting take. He does a little step and then goes the other way. He does a big step and goes the same way If you If you do the the analytics on the penalty taker, then you're edging your bets, if you like that you're going to go the right way and the the Croation keeper Did it right in the first one I don't he wasn't off the line. It was encroachment from Vardio, wasn't it that had the replay also the penalty takers have to do their homework on the goalkeepers So if you're the goal of going to a major tournament, you do something different to what you've been doing for the previous season. in terms of in terms of Uh penalties and how they're struck these days. Obviously look everyone's looking for marginal gains as to quote Sedave Bs for marginal gains. There's little little bits and pieces and changing things up. if you can do it and it's successful, you're happy to do it. Do you know what? I was speaking some the other day about about sort of know, early goals and early sort of football influences. And the biggest thing I could take away from football early in sort of like the nineties two thousands Gabrielle Batterterstutor, the harder you hit it, the more likely it to get in. You saw Harry Kane absolutely lums that penalty in second time around yesterday. Let's he Thankk you Andrew by the way in Greenford. Great to hear from you and no doubt we'll hear from you next season being a Sheffield Wednesday fan. Let's hear from Nonni Madaw who caught up with John Murray Nony Madway Kave, remier League winner, now World Cup player. Tell us about how you felt it went today? Yeah no, it was a good game. bits we did really well, bits we can improve on. But yeah, I think overall from a team perspective, it was a good game from an individual perspective. It a good game, good start and like yeah, we're just reing to go off for the next game. That's a childhood ambition ticked off, isn't it Yeah, one hundred percent player game at the World Cup. ticked. And I know what you're saying, you know there were some dicey moments, but the good was good, wasn't it? It was Yeah, exactly. The good was really good. Of course there were some moments where I think we lacked a little bit of rhythm. A bit of indecision, which we willll look back on and rectify for sure, but listen when we turned it on, we looked really scary so And that was a big deal, wasn't it against that team in the first match. Yeah, they're no mongs. it's a good team, very good team. I think some of the players that were in the Wor Cup final. And it's a great team with good experience and they gave us a real good test box. I think the way we came back in the second half and flpped the switch was impressive Well done Money, Well done today Jes, Thank you, Kelly. The way they flipp the switch from Nonny Madawaka. and I like that and there's been a lot of talk about the England squad selection. I know that was miles ago now, right back in the distance when we think about you know Thomas Touall selecting this squad and you look at certain things and you wonder and you question why he's picked certain players and we're all going to do it. Why We're England fans. We love the game We love watching the free lines. We love how they disappoint us and we love having that hope every single tournament. But he's picked everyone on minutia, on individual characteristics and traits. And one interesting point was the fact that there's no Cole Balmer No Morgan Gibbs White, no Pil Foden and they call them ball manipulators. Theyn't theyre the ones who who can do things in the final third, you can pick out, key pass, you can it can just bring you a bit of magic Did't need him yesterday No we didn't need them yesterday and they're I'm the guy Sat who thinks England going to win this. So whatever happens, it'll be okay. But there will be moments in games where we might be looking for that moment that player to do it. What's interesting about Cole Palmer He hasn't had a summer off for two years. So essentially he's been playing three years consistent football and therefore you would see a dip in form. And if I'm the manager and I keep going back to Thomas Cukele after the squad announcement Every player knows their role And if I'm the manager, do I risk bringing a player who hasn't been showing the kind of form that you need for that moment and thinking can I ask him to deliver that moment in the moment that we need it when he hasn't been able to do it arguably for the last season. So you pick players are going to do what you know they're going to do when you need them to do it. And I think the response I was just thinking e because The equalizer from Croatia was just before half time And traditionally you go, o, that's going to change the manager' team talk. you know the team iss going to go in from being confident to one up to not being confident because it's too all That first five, ten minutes of the second half. You would think England were winning three mil at first off. You know, they just came out completely different positive and it's it again underlines the point that Thomas Sokeal knows what his players will do when he gives them the right instruction He might need to reinforce that instruction at halfime, but he did and we got the response. five nine hundred nine, six nine three England fans. How impressed were you with that second half from from Thomas Toulls England. Let's talk to Alan. You've been very patient. Alan. goodood morning Hey, good morning to you Well'd you look like this monitter? I I was six when I watched the nineteen sixty six World Cup And I went to the twenty eighteen Russian World Cup, which was absolutely fantastic, the best time I've ever had And I didn't think I would say that going to Russia just made me . It's easy to say it, but this is the time. It was so much fun. So watch, I was just gripped by it. I couldn't even go to the toilet because I didn't want to And Allan, did you sorry to interrupt you that. Did you think the first half was fun I did. I ca the first half. I saw Humin el We got to, they got to. But I enjoyed it because I thought No, we're going to come back stronger after that and This manager the team, and I agree with David that I'm now. Totally one hundred percent behind England's going to win this World Cup becausecause with that manager and what he said now the assistant manager who spoke at half time first time I've ever heard somebody say So much stuff that was cutting too the point and just told us that he wasn't amused So I think that's what we've got to look forward to. So do you think Alan that I mean it sounds like you are sort of refreshing we've got straight talking staff, I mean, including the assistant. for these England players. I think That's what people need. I think that's what Bellingham need he needed to be taken down at Pecerton And I think there shouldn't be any superstars in that team They should all be playing for each other. and I agree someome of the players that they've left behind I would have said, o, o now, but I think he's got a He's got his plan and he wants team members. And you saw when Sako came on when Rasford came on They were so upbeat and so it was just thrilling to watch and I'll tell you, I've watched loads of England games. I watched Gascoin miss that in the nineteen ninety six European where we should have beaten Germany. There's loads of stuff, but last night has just made me feel so good Of all the England teams you've watched over the years and you say you've been an England fan for a long, long time. So you've watched various iterations of them What makes this team different I think I mean We've had players like Lineaka, we've had players like Gascone and thing, but I just think this team lookooks like a team to that will inter to playay for each other. that won't Throw the toys out of the c. or of a dicky fit They'll just get on with it and they'll come on like Rogers came on and he played superbly. I mean, I'm sure he's absolutely devastated that Bellingham's in front of him I'm sure Sako is being treated with his injury But they came on and they did a job If you've got that talent and those people that are just on the on this is I honestly think this is one of the best teams I've seen because it's a team Alan, great point. Great call. Thank you very much for getting in touch with us on six hundred six. Tee, what do you know you talk about individuals You know, we talk about people play playing in the squad and whyy they've been picked for their individual characteristics? Jed Spence. F two is. Absolutely ecstatic. Like if you look at the Iran result of a couple of competitions ago, England have never really looked comfortable in an opening game. All right, first half was a bit sloppy, but after halftim what was it Anthony Barry said at halfim that him and Thomas weren't happy with the first half and look at the changange in the second half. it was incredible. play with this massive weight of expectation all the time. and the nerves get to us and we stop playing And finally, that second half last night, England played without fear and played at the level I think these players play like in the Premier League all the time. I don't think I've ever seen an England team play with that level of confidence. This is BBC Radio five Live. Let's read to your messages of England play like they did in the first half against a team. they won't stand a chance. the system is wrong midfield need to come and get the ball and move more. That's from anonymous David What? Okay. I mean the first half I got to say I was at an event last night and I spent a lot of time in the first half talking about architecture It wasn't a great first half of football, even if there were four goals I think Igmen are allowed to be nervous or show signs of nervousness The second half is what we would expect. It might have been better than a lot of the games that we might see, but it will be a sort of the way that we're going to seeing them play more And going back to the Grevesy comment, it was a game of two halves and you don't win a game of football necessarily in the first half So I'm not worried about anonymous' comment there. I think the second half proved what England's about eightit five nine zo nine six nine, three England fans. We'd love to hear from you. Scotland fans as well. whereere are Hi the other day. Stephven, you are live on six hundred six. goodood morning, Chair G morning, hi Dan Yeah, very well, thank you, but how are you Yeah, good, thank you Would you like to say? I I think I agree with the callers that you've had on so far that with Dave and Allen, wasn't it I do think that we've got to be of It's the first game and everyone's going crazy. But I will be be honest. as I said as as was calling in and I'm watching at my son who's seventeen. And I don't think since he's been alive, he's had that feeling that I had growing up. when I grew up, I grew up in Wembley and I remember a United six and I was gutted when I got an knocked out because then all my time growing up, England tried to win games And when you lost, I felt gutted because I thought, you know what? they've tried so hard and they deserved it and their effetort and they work for and their work ethic was amazing and Whereas when we I'm a huge fan of Gariff Southgate and I thoughtought what he' done for England and I still think he's had a role because the cult is clearly still there and the unity amongst the team on But they when they lost in the final, in the semifinal, whenever they on the gas outate idn't care L at a f They didn't play to win And I think that's what one of the calls said earlier. foootball should all be about For me And I'm a non bias football fan because I'm not affiliated to a team I used to be a head of football in school, so my purposely took my way from that because you to be very thick and very biased I'm a big arrsenal fanner and I' wanted Asenal to win the league. the last couple of seasons I haven't really been a massive fan of the way they've played football this season. because it reminded me a bit of England. They passed the ball around the back. and a lot of people talked about the first half. I had a bit of an argument with a friend online while the game was on yesterday because I still saw the difference in the first half because they tried to go forward It wasn't as successful, but They were even pinging long balls and then trying to close it down. they didn't have the confidence because a lot of callers have said there was an element of fear I was still I didn't expect to finish that game and be quite excited as I am I'll pro on the conte stage Yeah, and m because I need someone to talk about it because it was one of my wantce at the beginning of the show. as a parent with your son watching a game Yeah you allowing him to stay up, I know he's seventeen? fifteen. Yeah, but hang on a minute. in football in terms of twenty three old as a youngster. Okay. So seventeen it depends what kind parents' a football parent or are you a normal parent? Sventeen years old enough to go out and get a job in some people's life. seventeen' still a kid. J allow, have you got a problem with him staying up watching two o'clock kickffs And ifs secondary school, but different't bget. I'm a gif a teacher in secondary school by the way. I'm only on the phone because I had an appointment I was driving in. It's going to cause a nightmare for attendance in school, of course it is And only because of that appointment, did I probably manage to watch the whole game? Be I would have probably only watched the first half because I would have strugg I get up really early normally I would have struggled. So it is great gratefully you got this appointment and we got you on the phone now on the call now. so But it exciting I think real D, I did just think I was just going to C kind of repeat what you said thereough, I think this is interesting because it is the first game Okay, what was against creation. one thing that has been mentioned in all of this conversation we've been having for just over an hour now is the Most club most national teams, if not all, will have analysis teams covering the game from the top of the stand. I know England have got a superb analysis team And there will be parts where they are saying to the bench For example, yesterday, Croatia at Max, they're at Max. we can afford to put on Marcus Rashford now and really go for it. But it is still the first game what I'm interested in because I want to try and play Devil's addvocate here. is if this is the bigger game against Germany who are ruthless at some point Does the fear then creep back in And then how does Thomas Tukle react? But the fact that you're buzzing and buzzing with your son, I think is wonderful. St, Stephven, do you know what I want to pick up on that point you made about Gar Sfk. I think again, we look at es and managers and we will sit and we will judge errors by what they've want, especially in this context because you know you've got tournament everyesting the manager ever Okay, greatreat, exactly. So Fundamentally, we've had a manager who's taken us to a level. He's brought us up to a certain level and he's created that platform But now again, we talk about Thomas Tul being a winner, someone who knows how to win Tournaments No he does. it's a fact. Jamo it's a fact. He know foundo C capello knew you ask to win. I know, but if youot he knows that Okay, fine. go back Sven Sven knew how to win. But if you think about the era before Svenur and Ericson, the platform he had to work on, the situation he found himself in I remember thinking about the England squad and then so basic the decisions back in the day. Right now, you've got someone who's looked at the exact intricacies. But on Gar Southgate is the biggest pointter here, Stehen fundamentally Things were a bit passive under him in terms of the football. It was a little bit more pragmatic. Whereas here with Thomas Tuchall, he recognized the issue, he spotted the issue and goes, right, you know what? I'm targeting it And were going we're going to make changes and we're going to do our thing. Even see him during the hydration, but yeah, hydration add braak, whatever you want to call it. the way he was talking to his players That'sone only means business, Steve Yeah, I understand. and It's all about opportunity, isn't it? He's come in at a time where that foundation has been had to be broken at England. And I used to watch when Garafa was there all the training videos on YouTube and you saw the unity but that had to happen first. And I hear you know from previous players talk about the culture that it used to be when it all had the big players, the Becons and lampbards and stuff like that good idea and You know, that had to be broken first, but that's irrelevant. Now it's great and it's there. and I think he should be recognized for that. But we also got to remember And I did say this as I was calling in. Normally, England's first game and a group game is against a much lower rank team and in the first game against a lower ranked team, they park the bus I then, you know That makes it really that would have been interesting to see how England played against a team like that against Croatia. They wanted to try and outs score us then that again gave us opportunities to try and outscore them. you know, So that that's also gone in our favor You know, you fear switch off then potentially against Garana Do you fear that, you know, those old sort of habbits might creep in against Ghara or maybe and firstse game, isn't it It's the first game, but we're quite fortunate Panama and so Ghana won, didn't they? So they might they might still go and part the bus against England and think actually we're not going to be to outscore them. I don't know they will But then it' be interesting to see it because sorry Cry on No I' agree with you because there's a part where' G to say if we get a draw against England, we've got four points, we're going through Exactly. So we don't need to win this game. hadad they drawn against Panama, then that would have been a very different situation because even after the Eish game, the conversation was, well Croatia will probably finish second Whereass Gara get another point? That's four points. then they only have to draw against Croatia. make prizes. Jennathan, I' also say as well does it Winning successful teams are all about balance, aren't they? you've got You've always got like you've got a worker in midfield, which everyone always thought that was right Anthony there thought was amazing, you know, like he put it their work greatate and people worried about their their fitness and the heat out there, although it wasn't actually that hot in that stadium. their closes and down the ball. And you said you said about Jed's expence. I was really dubious about being selected if I'm honest a team that probably were very close to being relegated to seasons in a row But he was rapid and hed come on and he was just back again, it was another dynamic Yeah but just They've all work. And maybe sometimes you pick players which aren't your your maybe your phone and not. they expect to be in the team. Whereas when you've got people like that so excited and they value being there. They're going to give you one hundred percent Steve just said you mentioned Alan, you mentioned Allan at a previous caller and you mentioned team there. What I found really interesting in this hour in fifteen minutes is we haven't focused and hardly had a conversation about Harry came We scored two goals But it's not because he didn't score two great. I mean, one of them was penalty of course, but the it wasn't that he didn't score two goals. It's because we're talking about the England team And I think it's interesting because normally it would be oh, if it wasn't Farry Kane, we wouldn't have got those two goals. we wouldn't have ended up winning. but this is like the team. And I just want to mention about also the team. It's like a jigsaw In a jigsaw, we always have those those bits of jigsaw which are the same colour. You can't have jigsaw with all color on them. you know what I mean? design for the jigsaw to work You need those people Stephven, you know what? Stephven, just if we can get Steven back just a two seconds, Stehven, you know my face lit up when you talked about being living in Wembley United States because I grew up there as well And let me tell you, it was just such a special time What it? I mean, there was nothing like it walking out looking up for the Weembley blimp. And they used to hover above the old stadium. there was nothing like it. What part of W did you grow up in Oh was ising Paravvil so bad few. That's not Weembley. It's not even the right bor. It's likeing mate. Yeahs like come on, mate I was London Borough bread through and through. I had it tattooed on me up and I didn't really, but you know Stephven, great callp, reallyally, really good call. Areciate you taking the time out this morning to call us. That's Steven, a teacher this morning ero eight ero eight five nine oho nine six, nine, three from a Stehven to a Steve in Licester, morning Stve O? Morning guys, How you doing Yeah, very well. Thank you, sir. Morning after the night before considered thoughts on last night Well, you, I mean, it I've been listening to the show this morning, been reflecting as well. It was a bit sort of A bit normal the first after England, wasn't it? Watching it from behind a pillow a kind bit disconnected but you know, you sort of live in hope with England. what I was calling for is to is to make a point about why I'm particularly more excited and probably most excited I'm sixty seven now, so I've watched a few World Cups and European Championships. But one of the reasons I'm excited is I just think that The management team generally, but too cool is going to make a huge huge difference And don't get me wrong. I think Gret Southgate was a a great manager and above all that, a decent human being, a really, really nice guy it just seems to me and there was a comment, I think that came out about what he said at half time And he resonated with me in that he said, lookook guys, if we're going to lose, we're going to lose playing how we should be playing And I think that was such a fantastic comment. You saw the difference in the second half And I think what he's doing for the players is he's saying I want you to play how you want to play and how you play best because I think in the past, we've had situations where We've been a bit cautious and players have been a bit reserved and You know, h, let let's nick a goal and hope we get through to the next round and we, you know, it's a bit wing of prayer. But I just I just don't think that's tookical style. and I think I can just imagine him when he went to the England to the interview and sat in front of the panel. And he would have said to them and they' have known obviously a lot about him from his previous experience, he would have said to them this is what I'm going to do and this is how I'm going to play and know, appoint me if you want that And this is what you'll get. And if we go down fighting, will go down fighting, but it won't be it won't be for the one to trying And I just think it made such a difference to some of those individuals who were you know brilliant players in their own right And I think if that I think that will just grow and the team will grow. because of that. and he's made such a fundamental differeiffnce I think since you've been appointed U Steve Even though Ara said we had a Steven and Staveven then called you Steaveo U S I think I'll go back to my jigsaw analogy here. I think there's a bit where what you're saying now. I don't think Thomas is necessarily allowing the lads to do whatever they want in one sense, but there's a part where he knows what they will do like the jigsaw analogy and it's kind of do what youre hear for Ke going back to this this squad announcement, the players know their role And I don't think we saw the players necessarily doing what they should have been doing in that first off, even though scored a couple ofes. I agree.out structure you know he's not, I don't think he's just saying kind of a kick about lads, but I think I think I think u in terms of in terms of confidence. Cly they' gone to a World Cup They've got the fear in them. They've got the fear of making a mistake, a fear of the British media that will be down on them. you know, all of that fear. But I think what Tu people say to them is that You know, you're here for reason guys You're here, you've been selected. because you are world class players, not all of them, but many of them. I think the best I mean everybody's talked about Kaine's two goals the defining moment for me is when Keness almost on his knees blocking a ball at the in the eighty ninth minute with his chest I mean, what a what a what a player, what what a performance last night. and the wage drops off in five space you see him on the edge of the box occasionally're picking up the ball and knocking him forward. is He's so that individual talent But the point I'm making is that think I think Tule is He knows himself so well, he knows what he wants to do. And I think there's a bit of good cop bad cop probably with the systemistant manager coming out half time and being pretty scathing. and be bit scathing, but absolutely honest I can't remember when the last time we had that amount of honesty. we might have had how do you think we're doing in boys and it's like to management te Well' a bit of be t Isn it? Yeah. But I think that's just absolute one hundred percent honesty Plers know where they are and that's going to be bode well for the tougher stages and you know, we shouldn't all be forgetting that The tournaments get tougher. not easier. You're going to come up against you got to hold that stuff together against you know much better teams as we go forward Steve, a joy hearing from you this morning. Thank you so much for the call that's Stehven Lester. All eight. all eight five. nine o nine, six nine three. Let's hear from another one of Thomas Toull's starters. It's the now Barcelona, frrontman, Anthony Gordon with our football correspondent, Johnurr first chance being able to say hello to Barcelon, Anthony Gordon. There must be a lot of emotions flying around for you, Anthony, after been involved in that. Tell us about them. Now it's been a crazy couple of weeks and that just topped it off first World Cup game S something I've dream of since lot of kid then truly special game. I'm so glad we won It was a difficult first off. The goals kind of came from nowhere and sters a little bit sets us back on our tracks not what we want to book You know, we come out really strong second half and got what we wanted is what a good team they are, what strong opponents they are Yeah, they were really good and I think that can't be underestimated when you look at the score of the game to dominate an opponent opponent like that in terms of attempts and to win for to You know, that they've gone really deep into tournent for the last ten year. so I can't be underestimated. I feel like I've spoken to you quite a few times over the recent years when you've done firsts like first England c, first England go. and here you are now first time playing The World Cup Not special, special Like I said, certain I' dreams of as a kid, but it's not about me. I don't want to make it about me. I didn't just Self centeredness is a disease. I don't want to become a part of that. It's about a team bout how we perform, it's about the subs coming on Iing Rashy come on made the incredible impact by Kayyle Morgan So it's a collective and ye I don't want to make it about me. Yeah. How good do you think the performance was today I think first offalf was good in part, but overall probably not where we wanted it to be But the manager said exactly what we needed to hear going into the second offf and I thought the first fifteen minutes of the second off It was very special and that's what took the game back for us and that's when we started to dominate. And then the last half of the game was and the subs made a difference. but a great feeling to be off and running Of course you want to win the first game it's A lot of pressure. I think you see that in the first half. I think we felt a bit tight That was the difference. I think we loosed up second half It's always important to get off to whenin a start, so I'm really glad we're done it Well done Anthony, very good. Congratulations Anthony Gordon speaking to our football correspondent, John Murray What a quote. self centeredness is a disease. You made the point earlier, this is a team. this is a jigsaw And I think that's a very, very strong line for him It is, first of all I'm not sure if any other listeners. Don' he sound like Wayne Rooney? a young way Rud it. Yeah Yeah, but yeah you could be from the same city, but it just anyway, the It's a great line and I think it again underlines Everything that we've been talking about on the show today is that this was a team performance and we are picking out individuals, but not saying if it wasn't for that one moment, this wouldn't have happened. It was kind of A lot of individual sorry, I'm not contradicting myself. A lot of individuals within that team make up that team team dynamic and the way that he was talking there, I think is enncouraging. Do we need any more encouragement Well this is encouraging.'m amount of time. I'm an English supporter Before he've even announced his squad, I'm thinking ye Yeah, we can win this, of course because I'm going to support the team and hopefully we win it. You see the squad annouced, I'm thinking yeah, great. it's right squad for the right reasons when I listen to Tomas Sukle speaking, and I'm more encouraged. I listen to the players now talalking after a game, which we're all buzzing about in a way which encourages me even more. Let's get some more encouragement. hopefully from Dean. Dean, good morning Good morning gents How I of it? I'm good you. Yeah, very well, than you, soir wt than My observation is that I think especially in the first half, whether it's because of nerves or lack of focus We were giving the ball too much away And that I think we were too reliant on too many long high passes U But I think we should try to focus on keeping that position. U I say That said, Croatia, as everybody knows, there is no mug. They seed really well in the last He is I think their down pointoint will Tory bef at the aid of a couple of their players as we all know, they're getting on of it But I do think you biggest problem we had was long, especially the giving away the possession with poor passing and I think that's where we let ourselves down. I also noticed that in the second half of slight bit Pain was a lot quieter. There was less mention of him In the first half he was doing, he seemed a bit more When I listened to commentary, in the second half, there's hardly there wasn't as much mention of him Movbe's everything bit required to se Cl I don't know, but first half especially It also happened in the second half a bit, but it was the first half that they were giving too much away posessitioned away by really poor passing. U And that's something I think if we come up against lot of the Argentinas or the France I think given that Every's thinking about Ebapia. There's a gentleman whose name I forget who was in the who was the Champions League in the Rair asam mananaged French He's a rising star B I can't remember is that his name? I'm not Do any I you're not to forgive me. I forget the name, but he has't He's a emerging talent and that' I think France have got a good chance as a result both him and and Beth and a greatest squad. And I can I interupt you Kt you S D,' not going to interrupt you here because I like be saying thanks for calling in. What I find interesting about this narrative or these arguments If France played like England did in the first half and England play like they did in the second half, then England beat that French team. So everyone's capable of doing the first half performance, but I agree with you. I think the long ball was a problem The What was good though was a reaction and we keep talking about this as a game of two halves. That second half reaction was the England that we wanted to see But I have to my question to you as a England fan and as a who do you support I'm a Chelsea fan. I gre up just the other side of the river from Chelsea. Fathers, uncles, grandfathers, all Chelsea fans Yeah I Aon are you do you Chelsea F? No. you are a Wimbled, in fact. Oh he is I just thought he wore random tops. Sorry, sorry, B So as a football fan, would you rather England have played that first half in the second half and the second half and the first half that makes sense and flip the game round where we you would control at the beginning and we ended up winning for two, but the second half wasn't particularly good. Or wouldould you rather have an adjustment as we saw and England go and dominate in the second hal I time would love I would love that mea half was like the first half personally. but I think the thing is you're too bored. But I think the thing is is that obviously we improved on the second half, obviously, Um, I mean it was a great result And especially against Croatia because like I say, Croatia are nobody's faools They haven't succeeded over this last few years by being anybody's fault They're a fantastic football nation. They get it you know, so the Credit to Croatia, they are no mugks. I think like I said though, Croatia will find that If they if they cut down Modridge in not letting him have so much possession and free will they might have find that they'll be challenged a lot more. But I think the thing is I'm so glad that you know we did improve. and And that was obvious You know more about football than I do, given that it was your profession But at the same time, as somebody' are faties watching I would I think I would say as an as an observer c the wr balls out and try and work on making sure that we don't give the position away so easily, Be if we come up against another great team, we're going to be You know, we're going to leave proper spint, you know, And that's where I worry, you know No I mean again, it it's all about the in game changes though and's in that first half Je Bellingam playing that right side sort of quarterback role. Reese James, you know, try trying to bomb for it every other minute. It wasn't working. Thomas T changed it. Ju Bellingham's in more of an advanced position, but it's those in game changes, those little bits and pieces That's why he's seeing your manager. It's what. We are here for eight zero eight five, ninez nine, six nine three M of your calls on the way here on sixz six on five live after the Ladsers of BBC News Red for you by Shjo Saka Today's biggest Wcup to date This is six hundred six with Aaron Paul and David James on five Live Gorning and welcome back to six hundred six here on five liive with you for another twenty five minutes or so. I've asked my best mate about this. He's got two young daughters, a fourteen year old obsessed with football insisted on staying up. The nine year old. When it went to three twoces like, I think I'm going to go to bed. She's very responsible. But it's bringing people together and that is what toournents like this are all about And when we're winning as well, Happy days. Let's talk to Charlie in Glby Good morning, Charlie. Hi, how are you? Yeah're very well, thank you. How are you I'm really good, thank you. Yeah. feeling good about the school Floor is yours, Oega So you've been talking about whether adults are letting their children stay up. So I was going to just phone in to say the question of do we let our parents stay up to watch the match? So my eighty two year old momum, she was at the nineteen sixty six World Cup live in real life So sixty years later, she I bought her a Sain Spreees England t shirt four years ago for the L World Cup And I messaged her last night halfime saying, if you got your t shirt on, And bless her, the day before I'd seen her, she said, I've got my t shirt ready. it's out on the spare room bed And she didn't reply because she doesn't always reply on a mobile later at night. this morning I got a message at Hopart state saying Tisha on over my nighty with a laughing emoji So yeah, she stayed up to watch it at eighty two all about Charlie, I'm so glad you said that and I feel like it there was a bit of Ais have been there for me by just saying it was only kids saying up because my mum who is in her eightes as well, I'm sure was was listening or watching the game late at night as well. just can I ask the question, who who are you supporting As in club two Oh what personal club Yeah Wow, I've gone from oh, I don't know whether to say You you got committ in now. Okay. I'm on left My son's chelse seat, my partner has tght them, so probably Yeah, somewhere in between It's a very model My love man city. It's a very modeled up house on that have you spoken Have you spoken to your mum this morning about the game? Have you caught up with her yet No, but that's the message I got was T sha on over by ninetighty. So I will ring her after this because she does listen to radio five Live and it's my mum that has got me listening to it actually so yeah. Fantastic. That's what we love. That's what we love. was she ever told you about sixty six and sort of the feeling around the country when England brought the World Cup home U I know she was there with the boyfriend and I think there's a funny story about her boyfriend I can't remember what it is funny.' not She didn't like him that much, but he bought her ticket so she went anyway. I can't remember. there's something there. But no And Charlie, you can remember, but you also know that your mum's listening, so you don't want to tell the whole nation. I can't remember. but she was there. that's the main thing and we won. So yeah, let's like sixty years later Char Charlie, what's your moms name again Anette, good morning. Great to have you with us on five Lve. Give us a call onzero zero eight five nine zero nine six nine three. We want to know who the boyfriend was and what the situation with the ticket to her. And if he's still about, we'll call him out as well and ask him what happened and why it didn't work out. Charlie, you are an absolute joy. Great to talk to you this morning. ero eight zero five nine zero nine six nine three Palling Annette price. Annette, get in touch. We will get you on the radio this morning on your beloved five live and we'll try and track down these tickets for you. Jaz is in North Wales. G on in Jz Good morning, how are you Yeah, very well, thank you, sir. The floor is yours. welcome six hundred six So I really wanted to posit a theory with you about Tule and why I think he will be successful I think he values character of the players as well as ability, probably almost on a par. probably obviously you' got to be a good player to get in the squad But I think he looks at the character of those players in a different way to Southgate did. I think Southgate built the team of what he thought was decent individuals of a gentleman Garth, wasn't I think two call's more of a a winning mentality. And he wants people within that group fit into that team ethic, you've got the will to win. you've got the fight, you've got the fire but also don't destabilize the group You can see it it's probably writt large with Je Bellingam J Belling and Obviously is fantastic play on the Birmingham City fan love him But I think there was a tendency for him to feel like he was the main guy in town. And I think he's kind of knocked that out of him. And you can see it in the interviews where he talks about Jude and he says You know, the guy fits in with the group, he understands what's needed from him for the team. know, And I think that character element is the thing that marks him out as someone completely different to what we've had before J could I just chuck this one at you then? And again, looking at three goal scorers, you've got Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bay Munich u Harry Kaine, I think I wouldn't be the first person to say has become a reborn player in many ways since he's gone out to Germany Je Billingham has never play in the Premer League so we don't have to worry about that and you got Marcus Rushford who was reborn playing out in Spain. I think that's fair to say. Do you think that Gareth didn't have these He had the same players, but he didn't have the same kind of personalities and Experience to be able to fall back on whereas Thomas Sukeal now has three players and of course, we're talking about the squad, but these three players in particular. who are applying their trade abroad, being successful abroad caveat is Real Madrid this season But Thomas is see and do you talk about characters characters now who believe that they are good enough to play for England being exposed to English football all time. Do you think that's a fair point or would you I do think it all goes into the mix, doesn't it? And Tkle is definitely benefiting from the work that Garth Salsgate did And he brought some players through brought some players on. someome of those players had gone on then to do bigigger things. But I think if you look at the makeup of the squad quite different to what it was under the South Gate There's quite a lot of different players in there And I think he's looked at the character of certain players. I'm not going to name any names. it's unfair But he's looked at that and said, does that fit into what I believe is is a good team and a good team ethic And he looked at that and thought, you know, look at Italy not qualified for a World Cup, fantastic individual players not se You know, you look at other Brazil fantastic in bird. you But what I find interesting again, just thinking about the Harry Kane situation. So Harry Kane playing under the Garas South Gate because he's playing for Tottenam who don't win anything So his happy place was trying to or if you like trying his best and it's not Harry did do well forland. He won a golden boot remember U, but now that he's gone to to Germany to Bayen. this season sixty odd goals. All of a sudden his's happy place is a regular's an animal and he's winning a week in week out winning trophy. Yeah And now he comes to England as a happy person. But then again, do you know what Jes, I think you made a fascinating point at the start, which was and you called Gara Southgate a gentleman, and I think we'll all agree is a fantastic human being. Jam, you know him very, very well. But Jaz, just just on on on Southgate is that the difference between Gary Southgate and Thomas Duchal, the fact that Southgate's a gentleman and he could say he made emotion based decisions. You look at Thomas Duchle, He's not afraid to be to be someone who polarizes and and makes those tough decisions. Bowen, Maguire, Palmer Foden Not interested. You're not part of my plans for this very tournament I'm moving forward and I'm doing it way He's not afraid to do that because he wants to win Do you agree, Jess? I think I think Southgate was kind of a bit of a humanist, wasn't he? right? B bit of a humanist character I think Tutul is a ruthless humanist I think that's the difference between the I think Tule is like you say, he's not afraid to make those big decisions. And I questioned like Adam Warton, Why didn't he take Adam Warton? But I'm not there. I'm not seeing the characters. I'm not seeing how they gell in the group then maybe it's another player fits into that group bear and he's able to do the job that he needs them to do. He's the manager. And I have to say after half time last night I completely trust the gu's judgment becausecause whatever he said to those players in there, they came out and that was like having two completely different squads It It was incredible So I think with' Sple's a winner But I think he knows how to build a team bond and a team ethic And I think that you The difference is he's ruthless and he's a winner Jaz greatreat talking to you this morning. Thankk you so much. Have a great day. Jaz in North Wales this morning quarter to elevenal to eleven o'clock here on five live is Adrian Chilles. Adrian goodood morning Mix feelings last night. slightly I f you know, I'm sort of half and half of my mom's croatation. I felt a bit like Richard Williams must have felt when he was watching Venus and Serena play at Wimbledon. I'd say who you want to win? It was a bit of a roller coaster. I've got to say I think there's an absolute orgy of outcome bias here. I don't doubt Thomas Toull knows what he's doing and he I'm sure he did give a great team talk and maybe a severe rollicking, but if severe rollickings made a difference, then every team in every football match would come out second half transform is it just not possible? What actually happened yesterday was Jude Bellingham thought you know what? I'm just I've had enough of this. come out, second me off. I'm going to get the ball, run down the right and sort of bang it in. No He did that because he wanted to do it. he didn't You want some tactical master stroke from Toule saying, Dude, what I want you to do is run down the right as quick as you can and then bang it in you know what I mean? And then that transformed Jude's brilliance transformed the transformed the shape of the game as much as anything Adrid, Hi Hi David I mean, how does that make you feel talking about Jude Bellingham's brilliance as a former Birmingham player? Well I'll tell you what You know what? He went to the same primary school as me So I think I can take some credit for it even though he was there twenty years after me So no, um, you know, David I promise Aent I promise you, I told him not to ask No no David can ask he can ask he can ask anything he wants. I promise you. But no, I mean, I think Jude's absolutely magnificent. but You know, I think You know, who knows? I think he changed the game as much as Thomas Tuel did. Adrian, what's interesting though, Jud didn't run straight on and score. I think we had a load of shots before that goal was scored. C correct me if I'm wrong? Well it was only just early in the second half was was It was still early. Yeah, granted. But I think a barrage, that barrage occurred before the goal was scored. and I agree with you. I mean the games and cliche. Games are about moments, aren't they in thatent Ju Bllingam because I was looking at the defense. I'm thinking whyy is the guy covering the middle when Je Bllham running straight in on goal Why aren't you covering the goal And then he would have crack it back to the edge of the box and would have scored and it would have been something else, whatever. It's about moments, but the intensity to the start of that cir. Absolutely no. Yeah, absolutely. So I agree with you just I'm I'm just away like the second half now against against Ghana and we're hopeless and it finishes nil nill or something. Suddenly Thomas Tkel will be absolutely rotten and he doesn't know he doesn't know what he's doing, you know, we just I don't know, it's just it's just kind of what we do. I was going to ask you, Davy, how come Lvakovich Isn't it a bigger club now? I mean, he's back Dinam Mosag Grip, It's a big club in Croatia, but You know, he say You know, D don't anything. I mean, I'll stick a tenor on him play for Forest at some point Oh, know sells. Anyway, but the He made some saves. And as I said Tarn at the beginning of the show, I've mean a lot of these saves pretty much everyone of them was at him and had he let any of them in, then we'd have been saying it was a bad goal. Yeah have come by us again. Yeah. Yeah, and that's the thing. It's kind of ye makes those saves and we're on a wave of excitement because England has started the second half really well. He is a decent keeper, don't get me wrong, but Premier League is washed with decent gkeepers. so I don't think he's outstanding enough to smell smells the not em forest really. There was some Westbrom Westbrom? West Brom. There was something extreme. There was some extreme playing out the back in the six yard box. You know, for some central defenders the hot burn age R? I mean they're not they're not particularly familiar playing with each other. I mean, there were three of them in their own six yard box at one point. It's I mean, look I watched it with Lyle Taylor who who's sort of regular five L somethingty plus our RFL coverage. here and He came out with a quote last year about playing out from the back and I just looked at him and he just looked at me. He didn't need to say anything. It just it's pure indigestion. That's what it is playing out but I don't see the point of it. What is going on in the show though this point? Why don't we kick long and then complain that we kick the ball long so seeing the I've said it a million times to make Routot one football sexy again. Do it. Do it yeah Wen have I was come out. Well more of the same. We've got I think Phil Jagelk was coming on just spoke to Terry Butcher, who's very much against the plane out the back. Certainly said he wouldn't have suited him. I' got Bradley Allen who was Harry Kane's coach at in the Tottenham Academy back in the day. so looking forward He's a lovely man. is Brandy Yeen. G him a cuddle from me. Adrian, thank you very much. ten minutes time. Adrian Charles taking you into the early afternoon here on fiveive Lve. Don'tget breakfast in America back with Steve Crossman from one o'clock before the football kicks off again half past for Czech Republic taking on South Africa, Switzerland versus Bosnia to come that one is an eight o'clock kickoff Canada Qatar in the early hours of tomorrow morning as well where we've also got Mexico versus South Korea. Tmorrow of course, fiveive live will bring you Scotland versus Morocco, the USA versus Australia coming before that that one and eight o'clock kick offff loads of football to come plenty of football to talk about. Gavin is in Bridge in. Good morning Good morning. how are you? Yeah very well, thank you, Pat. where do you go I'm a little bit nervous about that backfall the way that they were playing out from the goal kicks But they just worried me. it really put me on edge I mean, what put you on edge? The fact that they The fact that they were concede from it or that it looked like they might concede or No, that they might concede from it. It just didn't look very coherent. was s quite scrappy that backfall look like you could tell that they've not been playing than together that many games, you know So that That was a bit nerdy for me E's amazing Sorry, Gavin, just quick keeping on the back floor. We talk about the first half in particular here, aren't we We're definitely talking about the first half. They did look, you know, they They looked a bit stronger in the second half, but they also looked like you could tell that they hadn't been playing together that role you know, that they hadn't got that many games under their beltts So don't know why Yeah, you didn't start Would it be wouldould it be gay for Conza or gay for Stones for you Oh I would have gone gay for stones I think stones looked, you know game he hasn't played that that many games this season look really rusty for me. So I would have put Cs and gay together See, what I find interesting about this and again it sort of goes back to points we've been making earlier. The England players as any player is allowed to be nervous playing in the World Cup Yeah even with experience going into that first game in a group stage is kind of like, okay, here we are and we have to we have to do this again. England is not blessed with massive experience in that back. whether it's a changeed side or not. Nico O'Reilly means what four caps Four cups, Nic O'Rey They're allowed to be novous. Yeah, but the butler calls him. But what I like about it and again, this game of two halves is You're nerous, you're doing things wrong. The managers basically saidt don't do things wrong or do what you're supposed to do, have confidence in doing it. And then there was reaction money have confidence in that back four I think it would we've even got to this point in the conversations this morning I think this sce will change. I think it's been mentioned before that Thomas has a fif fourteen fifteen sixteen player starting eleven pull and then a load of other players in that in that group I think it will change The back for change. think midfield will change. I Harry Kanain' probably going to be one of the consistent starters But I think it goes back to this whole theory or this whole conversation this is an England team, not a load of individual players who have to be picked and therefore there will be changes. Okay, so so Who's your bat four for Ghana I don't know I don't know I don't know who. I don't know who Garner are going to pick to their back for. No, who's your back for for Garana Its wor the England back forth U I'm trying to think of what the changes were. I mean he could start with the same but I think he'll change it. I think Ge will come in I think that even with the u the likes of Rashford, he could start against Ghana I think there's an opportunity becauseuse one thing you have to understand here is starting a game is fundamentally different to coming on as a sub. yourour whole preparation is different. And therefore these players need to know as well what it's like to start in a worldorld cup We've got the three points to start with. If it's not Ghana, then it will be Panama Game that he will give and it's not about resting players, it's giving people the starting experience because if he needs to call on a player through suspension or through injury, into a knockout game. They need to know what it's like to prepare. So I think it will change, but I just like the idea that they're allowed to be nervous. and in being nervous is what you're going to do when you're told what to do, Gavin. That was my job. Gavin, great to speet with you this morning. Re appreciate it. We have got five minutes left here on six hundred six. Let's get to Marcus. Good morning, Marcus. You're looking further down the line I am a little bit Iron, good morning, good morning, David. Good morning I might be getting ahead of myself a little bit, but looming on the horizon in the round of sixteen on Monday morning J july sixth, it's a one A kickoff could be Mexico in the Aztecca Yes, I'm having that. For my birthday, I'll be all over it. Yes. one you can sort it early and And I'm just I'm just thinking of you know, the they the the family conundrum school in the morning And it'll be the first time really we'll have seen that in a big setting. Obviously, the Aztec are memories of ' eighty six, we can bury The demons. I think it'll be a huge tasks I really do. And yes, I am jumping ahead. But you do that with your wall charar, don't you Do you know what, Marcus, you're allowed to. And the Aztec stadium, I want to mention the lost lionesses of seventy one. So anyone know talk about. Yeahah, yeah. So the Aztec. it's a big up to the owners of the Aztecca stadium Yeah, I mean, we're trying to plan it. I mean, I was asked before the the tournament started. whoo do you think the finals going to be? And I've said, yeah, England, Germany sixty six. Now there's a few things that have got to happen. that to happen It's not like it's not an easy path towards that. But the idea of a one o'clock kickoff Ateek, everybody listening celebrating Aaron's birthday we I' watching So watching him, there's no roof on there. It could be there therefore it might be a proper hydration brake. but who do you support I'm Blobing Rose Aarons just raised his eyebrow. U Yeah, no, no but not notent. Do you think it's coming home I think after last night, I've got to say as a half last night, Just as a half, I thought that was the best performance since I started watching England in the Wor Cup. Gsh, you' got to go back to Spain eighty two. I've been rpping on my brain this morning Yeah yeah. I was I'm not including Euro ninety six the whole game But as a half, I can go back possibly to Mexico eighty six when we beat Poland three nil and Linnic has scored that hatchrick in the first half And I think it was that good. The intensity like you've been talking about was amazing And so we will see, you know, it's a possibility. rather than probence you know, Marcus, I'm
