He explained that Apple wanted to create a place where people can go back and reference their previous chats with Siri Apple ultimately determined that a dedicated app on the home screen made the most sense for this. He explained, quote, We see Siri not as a separate chat bot, just an unintegrated place where you go and chit chat, but rather as an integral conversational tool that you use in the moment that's deeply integrated into your experience We went back and forth on what's the best way. if you want to get back to a chat that you had because you want to continue it or you want to reference it And in our platform, the most natural affordance for any user to go find something like that is to have an app that they can manage on their home screen, launch, and get back to And so we have a Siri app and that Siri app just reembodies those capabilities of that core system experience. End quote During the same tech talk, Federigi also touched on Apple's partnership with Google to help power the new Si AI features Federigi specifically focused on explaining how much of Google's technology Apple is actually using in the new IOS twenty seven features He said, quote We don't have the Gemini app as our app In fact, none of that client code is part of how we run on IOS. For these models, we use none of the models that Google deploys to their customers nor do we use the infrastructure and means by which they deploy models to their customers. And then when it comes to the knowledge base, we don't use Google seearch or anything like that as the foundation for our system The amount of the Google assistant that we use is none That wraps up another episode and another week of ninetiney to five Mac Daily As always, if you like the show, please be sure to check us out on Apple Podcasts where you can leave a rating and a review.
