Don't stop Now I'm of the opinion that writing songs is one of the blurriest things in the world becausecause you can show up with a Bible and a heart in an instrument And still somehow, you Songwriters have no idea really how songs get written Because if we did, they'd all be great So I was thinking about this conference and I was like, surely some other artist who's a Christian has tried to write a song about blurry topics and L and behold Mr. Larry Norman wrote a song back in the seventies He's an unidentified flying object. You will see him in the air He's an unidentified flying object. You will drop your hands instead You will be afraid to tell your neighbors they might think that it's not true When you open up the morning paper, you will know they've seen it too He will comeb back like he promised, Whenin the price al already paid gather up his foers and take them all away. He's an unidentified fighting object. He will come and split the sky He is unidentified flying object. I mustle will do die He's an unatidentified fireflying object. who come to take you home He's an unidentified fine actter. He will roll away your stone. So I'm gonna to share a song and then I'll talk about it a little bit, but this song was on the last album I made. It was an album called Stories I Tell Myself. And I recorded it up in Hendersonville, which yeep, wow, a couple people from Hendersonville They made the drive. But I wrote it inspired by the friendship of two amazing legends in country music who live next door to each other., Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison A lot of people don't know that. They were next door neighbors for like twenty years. And in the late sixties, two tragedies happened in Roy's life. His first wife died in a motorcycle accident and about a year and a half later, his house burned down and two of his kids died And u Johnny came off the road in June to be with her friend and to help him grieve and mourn. And Johnny eventually bought the land where that house was and he said this phrase said, I promise you only good will grow on this land And I read that story after I'd been on a retreat with pastors in a house next to that land And I was so inspired by the story and that I kind of kept it in the back of my head and had no idea that about eight months later I would be making my next album in that house next to that land. And the first night we moved my studio into that house I wrote this song because I really do think it's our obligation as believers to walk alongside people who are suffering. and remind them of the hope and promises of God. This book. There's a woman who's ahead of studies at UNC Wilmington who wrote this book on UFO. It's called American Cosmic And I think she's got some really cool stuff. And so we reached out the An ofisulk and came on and literally like probably six months later she's on Joe Rogan. So you were on it. We hit it. Yeah. Matt was on it. He was birdoging it How long you been blurry I mean, I'd say my whole life. I kind of grew up. I'm a Catholic. It's like the blurriest form of Christianity there is. I mean, we literally go to churches to visit like bones of people. You don't hide those ones away. I know, I know, we don't. And I mean, just this past summer, I had this experience. I was invited to an anniversary of a radio station and We had an amazing talk with Matt Mar at Burry Com three.
