At that moment, I remember I just couldn'tay awake anymore and I went to sleep When I went to sleep, there was a moment of It's black. And then I woke up It was like that But I wasn't on Eth anymore. I remember waking up, everything started to come into focus. Everything was very blurry. I couldn't make out clear images. The first thing I remember seeing was the ground And the ground to me, looked like just smooth surface. It wasn't clear, It kind of had a bluish tint to it, like a jewel And I remember seeing the ground And then I looked up and I' starting to look around to find out, know where am I? What is going on? And I see the air and the air is it's not like this, you know, it's like swirling mist The history of our earth is so different from what we can imagine joyed it. The Smithsonian if they found out about a large skeleton somewhere was to go get it. I'm gonna assume at least one person is right. because if one person's riding bus paradel, it all goes back to the fen chair. And the problem with the modern day church, they have a very truncated view of the supernatural this backdrop that's just pregnant with all kinds of meaning associated with this Mount Herman event. And this guy defects from the kingdom That's a big deal Yeah We we're taking it back to a simpler time, back to the eighties when life was easy Technology was not as cool as it is now and Not as scary as it is now, but welcome to the basement Richard, thanks for coming down and I get his name right? Yeah Yeah. My name is Nate, by the way. notot Ben. Yeah, our last NDE. Rich has got an amazing an amazing story that we're going to get into. But the joke is that our last we had Steve Kang in and he went to hell and his in his eight minutes in Hell NDE and he talks about And for whatever reason in his head he gotut. The nce name was Ben. That's fine. And then I kept calling Nate like overtly calling Nate Nate. and he just went you just plowed through it. Yeah. Brother Ben. You know? Yeah But Steve, he's a great guy. was It's a funny thing at the end he's, whyy did' you tell me? I I try to tell you without stopping your flow. And I try to tell you all the time when I'd be like, So me, what do you think about It's fine though, because I think most of the good thing about here in Blurry Creatures is the guest is sort of that drives the conversation in the story. but You have a personal story blurry experiences and I think this is cool because sometimes we're talking to authors peopleople who are writing about the big picture But it's another thing to have an actual experience in person. So welcome to the show. Thank you. Thank you. What are you thoughts on Big Foot, and then we can kind of start into your journey of experience. Bigfoot. I'm gonna be in the I don't know category but I do have a I may have run into big fooot in Alaska abo the Arctic circ U I was on patrol one day And I got a call that there was a grizzly bear close to town. So when we get those calls, we had to go out and try and scare the bear away One way we did that was with a shotgun with a blank in it to be used like at airports just scared birds away. Yeah. So I aim at this thing So I see what I think is a bear. scratch its back on a tree Right The bears I was like, Oh, bears actually do that Um, And so I shot at it. And when I did This thing just stops turns and looks at me and then walks off in two legs and I'm like, No bears don't do that. Wow. And so I just turned around left. know I didn't pursue it anymore. but that is the only Bigfoot story I about how far away were you from this thing? I was probably I would say three houses, you know, it was it was a three hes,. if it's grizzly, don't get close anyway, I' not that because you know there's cubs around. No Yeah, good thing about girders is though, you can scare them and they'll run. They don't they don't want to e you. B black bears are the ones that actually will pursue and try to eat you. But it just walked off like like quickly or not soly. It just kind of like Yeah, it just kind of turned around like, what are you doing? Yeah. And I just kind of walked off Oh, did it look like a bear? And I drove off. Yeah Nud It didn't look like a bear It had Long flowing hair and it was, you know, scratches. we had a color hair. I was having a good scratch. L a lot of like red and blonde. Wow. So brown in there. like three tone. Yeah. so so So then I go into town I'm like,'m This is on my mind, you know, I'm thinking about this. I'm like, what in the heck did I just see? So I go to this is a native village and I go some of the elders and I start asking around Im like, We have bigigfoot around here. I think I just may have seen one And they're nonchalant. Oh yeah. Yeahah. Is see you around again I guess so. So? I'm fifty one. But I mean then. Oh then Oh, this was fifteen years ago So Yeah to them, it was just Yeah. Ls always he's your curous, you know, like L the Inus and you know they have another word for so that's the little people. And they have a word for giants as well that they say live out in the UF. And we're going to talk about all of this, which is fun, but it's always cool to have somebody in for something different and then they have like they have a Big fooot encounter, which seems you a pretty good one. Yeah I think most people have like a Class B Class C sighting. And I think you're in class A, you know. And I'm only those idiots didn't take a picture because you know, I was like, I don't think you knew it was happening. No, no, I didn't. And I didn't know what I saw. You know, you go through your mind, you're like, what animal could be that big? Well, a bear Or a moose. It wasn't a moose, you know So There is't walk very often. It's like it can get up on two legs but it. Yeah they can when they're fighting you know, I've seen them fight and they get up on two legs, but I've never seen one walk any length on two legs. Yeah, Picularly they just get down on all fours and run off. Yeah. ye ye You do see them, I think on two legs like in a circus where they've been trained to do that likeike the Russian Baron Bora. You just riding in the amra. Yeah ye. Well we say this all the time, but people they're not here to talk about that and they've had an encounter. like It's more common than people would ever the sort of the skeptics would want to believe peopleeople have had an experience with I mean, that's more than an experience. You saw the thing,ed looked in his eyes Yeah, it looked at me. Okay. And that's ra I mean that that's a rare encounter, but you had an encounter which I don't wantan to say I was in fear at that moment, but something just told me to leave the area. Yeah you think you have was annormal experience and then you After the fact, go wait, what was that? you know which I think your nervous systems can't catch up with your your brain and then finally they come together and you're like, whoa. Yeah. I just saw Bigfoot. Well You live to tell the tale? Absolutely. That guys here. Yeah. Yeah, you're here. Well, Rich you've got a lot of stories Well Let's kind of start, let's just start sort at the beginning. You know, where you grew up, because we'll get to Alaska. We talk sort of pre roll about the fact that you were know a law enforcement officer in Alaska. But where does your story start? And then I'll just go through it it makes sense in a lot of ways to run through from the beginning and then we'll get to to the big story where we're here, but you've got a lot of You saw a lot of things in Alaska, but where does the story start for you Well, my earliest memories are growing up on Jackle Island you know, hanging out at the beach and going to the historic area and kind of hanging out in that area where a a lot of history down there took place Oh Yeah Jack Hollin. I go back there sometimes and its it's just a weird. It's a weird place Weird place. I've been there. I've told the story on the show, but we talked to Dr. Laura Sanger on the show and she has written about the roots of the Federal Reserve and a lot of That is the place where The Fed was birthed, but Yeah know, I told the story. I've been out there and we talked pre row. It's like a It is a weird place, like you You go over the bridge and It's like the atmosphere defly changes over there It's dark and I'll also explain it. It's very odd It was cool growing up there though mean, you know, I've lived in some I've grown up at some pretty cool places Andr Jekyll Island, we moved further inland towards Savannah You know, we've had some experiences in Savannah down on River Street and you know, back in the eighties, there were tunnels that you could go in down on River Street A lot of weird things happen down there, a lot of demonic things. Yeah.'s supposed to be one of the most they claim the most haunted city in in the United States is Savannah U So you got to live in some blurry places, Jeyll Yeah to Savannah. Yeah. Uh How'd you end up in Alaska? So back in, oh gosh, my dad moved to Alaska around eighty eight, eighty nine He had always wanted to go there, you know, grew up watching like Marty Stauffer and, you know, Wild America and a bunch of like mutual Vma shows or whatever. Nature shows. And, you know, he He always wanted to go there. So he had an opportunity to go there. He was in law enforcement And he had opportunity to go there and be the chief of police or you know, a small city called Kotubu, which is thirty three miles above the Arctic Circle. U, So he got up there, he got there, got established. how big is that city? My parents divorced by the way. That's why I talk about two different places. But yeah, but how big is that city becausecause if you're north Aric circle, like most people probably have, you know, its anchorage or Yeah or Junea Yeah, but this is probably a small place. Yeahah, it's a small place. It's the hub city for the area. Okay. And it's a town that's basically on a sandbar and it is aboutbout half a mile wide and about two miles long you look at a population, population in the winter timee aboutd fifteen hundred people back then. I don't know what it is nowadays. Um and in the summertime, you have up to three thousand with all the hunters and everything to come in. U But yeah, he had an opportunity to move there. He got up there, got established You know, I was down in Savannah being being a little brat and running around my Camaro and you know, turnaring up the roads and stuff and trying to get in trouble runun from the cops and You know, it was like, uh You need to live with your dad for a while. U I moved up to Cotbu Total culture shock. went from running to the streets in a Camaro to now I'm driving a forer down the dirt roads, you know of gots to you. So Yeah, yeah, it was definitely definitely different. But after a while, man, it was awesome to grow up in a place where If you want to go fishing, anytime you you just go fishing. If you want to go camping, you just walk out your front door and go camping. You can't really do that down here anymore. R Yeah, it was funny. we talk about weird things. You see a lot of weird things in Alaska I think it's just because there's not as big a population there, maybe that things feel like they can move around more freely there So the first thing my dad does is when I get there It's a period of it's not totally dark. I think it was starting I think it was in August when was the summer was just starting And So he took he's like, let me go show you something. So we go out in a truck out to a dirt road We go outside of town. And there's no light pollution whatsoever up there. So when people see stars here, they see a few, there you see galaxies. I mean, it's it's just totally blanketed And he's like, watch the stars. So I'm sitting there watching the stars then all of a sudden They start moving in weird angles And he's like I'm like, what is that? He's like, Well, stars don't move like that, do they? I'm like, no So Again, another, I don't know. I don't know what that was UFO Something up in, you know Yeah, somethingomet of light moving around. That's just not a common thing because you can see so well. It reminds me of what I saw in Sedona. I've I saw something very similar out there where things were it's not a satellite because it's not moving in orbit. Exactly. It's like going, you know, like as you say, it's going up or down, moving backwards against where you would think it would orbit. Yeah. and then questions go through your mind like, well, okay, I'm in Alaska. It's very cold sometimes. Is's the upper atmosphere messing with it or what. But no You can't move like that. Yeah, we did an episode on that visible highway and According to that whole experiment that we did, if you wna listen to that episode, it was like there's a lot of them. There's a lot more traffic. Traffic up there enough for people to capture it on their phones. Yeah, I think that you get a place where you can actually see, you're going you're going to see a lot. And I think most of it is undetected here, especially in cities and I agree. I mean, we don't think to look for it. Yeah, and there's so much light pollution down here Yeah that things can easily hide. Yeah So just a lifetime of weird experiences and it just gets weirder and weirder. It does, it does and I don't know why. but you know, It used to freak me out, but now I've come to terms with it Thanks for tuning in into to Blurry Creatures.
