Hello and welcome to Bottoms Up with Alan Carr and Lee Peat. Yeah, we're the podcast that refuses to bottle things up. So get your cork out and let's get pouring and said cork Alan, how are you firstly? My nose is properly at a joint. Oh gosh, I think I know what you're gonna say. I'm old news. I'm old hat. Well, I wasn't going to bring it up. It's been a few weeks now, but I think the dust has settled and I was hoping you'd be okay with it, but judging by if anyone listening, he's scowling, I'm going to say two words celebrity traitors. Yes. People have already forgotten about me. Are they? And the lineup's amazing. I know, I know. Robin Roma surely are going to make one of them a trade and one of them not. I just wonder whether that's a bit too obvious. Do you know I've got a theory? I will say this. I think you have semi ruined it for players , you because no , I think you've ruined the seriously . That's it . No, I think now what will be difficult is the people who will be a little bit fun and a little bit light . I think it will be classed as the Allen Car effect of like well Allen was like that. I wonder when now you've got to play the game a little bit differently. Allen Carr effect the Allen Carr effect had that power ditsy and flappy and dope Oh, okay , haven't had a drink yet . 'Cause you know, when you write on the slate, there's a lot of pressure to get people's name right. Claire Baldin wrote anal for me . I didn't know if it was my name or an offer class long suffering off icer. She was the only one I. know I'm banging on about the last season drained, but she was the only one that caught onto me. I know and that's what I mean and then I murdered her ha days. But no one would be one of those people I can coach trip. Oh are you Allan Carwurnee on it . I wonder if they could put up like a little picture of you like a, you know, a you know when you go into like big castles and stuff and you see the person who used to be king of the castle. I wonder if you don't think they're going to do that . Probably not. My friend actually made me laugh. He clearly has never seen traitors because I quite liked how they revealed it. Did you see in the airport lounge and there's the slates? My friend went , well, Miranda Hart will be pissed off. I was like, why ? They spelt her name wrong. I'm like, that's the joke. Bible cast . Like he was like justice for Miranda. I was like, have you ever seen the Traitors? Well, probably Miranda ' gonnas trip over fall on the what's it baggage carousel and go round? You know what she's like? Classic Miranda Cackanded . Listen, very exciting, very exciting. We've got a special guest. We'll see if you can guess who it is as I glance at the bottle . Well, for those listening actually, you could get about piano listening. So we've got some piano keys on the label. Yes, it's his own wine . Well, he can do anything , really. He can write his songs, he's written musicals, he's entertained arenas, theatres, stadiums all over the world and I dare say , a national treasure . He is a national treasure. I will say that. Yes. I don't use that term lightly. Yes. And he has his own wine. Oh, let's bring him on. It's Gary Barlow. Oh , you've brought gifts . Oh, a nice rose. What? Sauvignon Blush. You've both not looked at me yet. You just looked at the bottom. Oh, sorry . Gary's here as well. Hey, hello. Thank you. I'm good. How are you doing? Yes. Lovely to meet you. Nice meeting . Willy Azer, you have sort of met Ish before. Oh yes, actually years ago you won't remember. I actually introduced take that at Manchester P ride . Oh, okay. Do you remember it? When was what you was that member? It was a long time ago . And just to make it about me even more , you'll get used to it gaming . You go in. I worked on your progress tour that not that we never met. I was a brand ambassador for Samsung. Oh , so as people were going into the stadiums, I was like, Would you like to check out the new Samsun g phone? They were like, No way you take that . So yeah , what have in the past? What a great showbiz story . So listen, are we going to have a wine It's summer. Should we have the blush? I think we should. You've been to South Africa? Yes. We love South Africa. Yep. That is where this podcast was born. Okay, well this is where this wine comes from. Okay. Yeah All the versions of it all comes from South Africa . We started in a little vineyard out in Swatland. I don't know if you could know. It's a bit beyond where Stellenbosch and Franch is about another hour . And that's where it all began. That's where we did our tasting. That's where we created this because this is the Sauvignon Blanc with a little squirt of pinot no ir. Oh come on, stop pouring less talking more pouring because we were watching your series and we sablon store and we were like, Oh my god we were there we went and this is where we came up with the ide a for this podcast. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You do a taste in there. Yes. Tasting. And like you said, you know, with food and drink, it's like, was it lyrics and music go together, don't they? And I love that you've got the piano keys on there. I do know what I'm quietly very proud of all this. I'm so to say like nice to talk about it. Is it cheers? Cheers buttons cheers Is it weird? Lovely name. Is it weird seeing like the first time you saw your bottle of wine? What was that like? What was the feeling? This whole thing, honestly , you're very hands on, aren't you? We'll try to build so you're very handsome, as 're wine is good. I am all glad . I'm getting in a car, hi . As hands on as you can be with something like this. I mean, you know, obviously when we were choosing the different varieties and trying to be there for all of that, because the taste is the best but isn't it? Oh, it's the best, it's the best essence. Because we watched your show and I thought, Who have you slept with to get that series? Because all over the world with all your friends drinking and eating delicious food . It's just my dream to have a show like that. I know, I know. And you know what? Whenever my guests come, I always make a rule of they're not in my phone book I don't wanna be put with someone. I don't eat. We were watching that and I could tell you you had a proper friendship with them. Or a history of some kind. Yeah. Must be nice to be able to work with your friend though. I was waiting for that. Wosh . I was thinking when he was I was actually thinking when he sat there going, What's my dream job sitting with your friend drinking wine? I'm like it'll come. It'll come. By the way everybody in a way who I like. Yes, yes . Now all of you different I feel bad. I feel bad actually . What I was going to say is because I think a lot of skeptics as well will go, Oh, here we go. Another like that's why I said you're very hands on with it. But a lot of people now and I think big A listers when they do like tequila or gin or whiskey and they slap their face on it, but what made you because you could have done tequila, could have done gin whisky? What made you choose wine? What was it about wine? I know a little bit about wine and I don't know anything about vodka or gin. And so I sort of started drinking with interest at about twenty five . Lucky enough to travel , which is a good thing, I think you because get to try different wines in their origin rather than being imported in and just got into it. And during lockdown, the lovely lockdown as we remember it , I really was sat there feeling like I didn't have enough attention and thinking how can I come up with? How can I come up with something that features me? Yeah . I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a bottle of wine? Imagine giving this to your mates . Imagine if we could get a hundred made every year and I could give it out to my mates at Christmas. Never dreaming we'd end up in all the supermarkets and doing so well with it . But it did come from a place of just, wouldn't it be lovely to create your own version of what you love? Because it does feel authentic with you. You can tell you love it. You know, just from the series, you know the enthusiasm and everything and that's that's what's amazing , you know, and you can tell there's a lot of love in this. You can you can it sounds wanky but you can tell if someone loves it. Well it's delicious and also the thing is if you've been to like the, you know, the Babylon store and places like that and you spend any time with wine people . The one thing that I always associate with music is if I was to be sitting with a friend who does music, we're so passionate about it. It's all you want to talk about . Wine's the same. They just talk wine. It's a passion, it's not a living, it's not it's just what they are born to do and they love it. And that's what I always think when I'm with people who are like minded, they just want to talk about the art and the craft making wine. Have you been to the Newt? I've been to the Newt. I love the Newt. I love the Newt. Because the Newt was the one that told me that the Newt's like a gorgeous was it hotel, Winds number one hotel everywhere. The gardens of and that Rome, what about that? They've reenacted a Roman villa. Have you seen that? Yeah, is that where they dry all the flowers or something? No, everyone's wearing togres. It's a bit like a what's it up pomp ? No , not like this I wasn't there that weekend . You pop a leaf blower up and have in one robe. No , you can't do that. That's not allowed. But my claim to fame at the Newt, I'm sitting there having a wine. Nigela Lawson comes in. Oh hello darling, can I try the wine? Sips out my fairly. Oh really ? Great. That's why I met Nigel Lawson. At the Newt. Lovely. But then I had dinner with her, and it's a bit like being in a carry on film of Nigella because she likes to know the ingredients. And she said, Can I try your aubergine? And this augen and she was sort of like, Obviously , you know, that's giving it a squeeze perfect for Baba Ganooche Horny. It's quite horny. I know, I must . I love the series she does and she does like the camera shop. She knows one. Pour in the gravy The camera shop me not . That's great . So the news lovely that I actually 'cause Babylon store and you obviously get the gorgeous sunshine of South Africa and so I loved it so much. They said you've got to go to the Newt. I did go to Newt had a gorgeous weekend there, but it pissed out. No from the minute we arrived to the minute we left, I thought, it doesn't feel like South Africa. No, no, no. Do you find that because we were saying, I think when we had a Graham Norton on a few weeks ago, we were saying that when you did his own wine? Yes. Did he talk about? Yeah,, ye heah brought his own wine. Yeah . But he was saying like sometimes and wine is a bit and I think this is similar to music as well. It evokes memories and even time and place. Time and place. What's harder? Writing a song or making a wine making a wine? Is it? You didn't even have to think? No, 'cause I've been, I mean, I was eleven when I started sort of playing piano and doing gigs and writing music. So I've done it for most of my life. Yeah. And it's the most natural thing. . In fact, I hear music, you know, I can hear music now. It's in my head and you know, if someone says a line or come, I can hear music. It's just built in somehow. This is a bit more of a, this isn't my world which is what excites me actually. Yeah. You're doing something slightly new. And it did, you know, I know a few other people who have been involved in sort of self named products . I won't have another glass. I love it. Oh good. No, I'll do it. I'll do it. I'm trying to pour his wine . I always think don't don't you know, definitely don't be suspicious of people who put their name on but because I can tell you now when you put your name on something you want to make sure it's the best it can be. So when you see Kylie or Graham or what I know the effort that goes into this. And so I would always say you know what I had, I made a marketing faux palm. I did my own arena tours called Specsy Beast and they were drnu'tgs and merchandise and I just got me two Irish setters and I thought this was genius dog shit bags with my name on it and I thought 'cause you know no one ever puts in the bin they hang it from trees and I thought everywhere yeah, everywhere. Allen car full of shit . And they were like lurid pink and then they weren't biodegradable. They were die . Let's go for a dog walk youer',d see Allen Car shit. Sometimes when you're the first at something, there's a reason that no one else is taking out . Then there's no way ever I came up with it . Yeah, shit bags make me millions . I love this kid Yeah, that was a yeah, that was a mistake of all good . Well, you know, when you go away with your friends, what was it like with Jane McDonald? Was you worried that she was gonna break into song at any minute and do a music video? I hope she was gonna break into song. We love her when she goes cruising doesn't she and like a real . She just comes out and looks like a human jukebox. She's a tomato of she. We love her. I love her. And although this is the other thing is that , you know, from doing those shows, half the day you're on camera, but the rest of the time you're hanging out with everybody. Yeah, you've really got to get on with everybody. And that's the joy of that. And actually the one thing that all my friends who come to do it within an hour, they're going, how did you actually get this gig? This is the best thing we've ever seen. We seen that watching yet. It's fun. But you really got Jason Manford. Yes. It's coming out in August. Great. But we went to New Zealand. Oh, I love New Zealand. No. And how's he find the time? Because he's he's addicted to paddle. He's always playing paddle. Have you seen this paddle? Where does paddle come from? Why did it? What's it even make? Have you played paddle? I played with play with him. Oh yeah. Yeah. He's lots about six lagging off paddle. He's lost about six stones doing it as well. Amazing. That's amazing. Only wankers played paddle. I was playing enthusiasts But I supported him a few times on his tour and I didn't know is he a wine? Does he love his wine? No. Oh, so is he going as a novice and lutching him? As soon as people go, I don't know anything about wine. We're in. I love that Because the one thing I sort of wanted to do the show for was that I think there's a lot of snobbery in wine. I think a lot of people are afraid of it. I certainly was when it started . And you know my job on that show is to I'm not the expert because I'm not an expert. I want to be the audience saying, well, just explain that for me, you know? And so when we have a guest on there who is also doesn't know anything, they ask the the questions audience want to ask . So when he said it, I don't know anything about wine. I was like, let's go . So we shot that in March and it was great fun. We two weeks together, we had the best time. And this is hugely popular. twenty five thousand bottles sold a week. That's a thousand an hour. You must be so the wine. The wine. The wine. Yeah. Very proud. That's amazing. The fig ures stand for themselves, don't they? Well, I was thinking earlier and talking of Nigella actually when you mentioned her. She's one of them. We had Alex James on as well a couple of months ago and he was talking about with his cheese and his wine and stuff. And Nigela, I think is one of these people that have like the palette for it. I sometimes think people can taste like, do you have you always had like a proper great kind of taste for things? Or did you have to learn it on the go? Had to learn it. Yeah. And also a lot of wine people will actually say that chefs do not have a great palette. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah, which is why they have Sameliers. And hey, listen, I might be breaking a whole code here. Oh, this is awesome. Well, honestly, they do. All that lined down. Yeah, yeah. You're in a safe space. There's a few more to pull down there It could be a while . We're in a very light room. There's this conversation . No, they do. A lot of wine people say that chefs should know more about the wine that's being served with the food. Right, which is why Samaliers are so important . Because I remember when I was training when I was training to do performing arts, I used to go and watch shows. All right, and I would go I would I would kind of be watching how they're doing it and I could no longer enjoy it. Do you have that with wine ? Do you drink it from a kind of, I'm enjoying this point of view? Or are you quite analytical with when you drink wine? Analytical because I did that, what you're talking about when I used to play in Black Bool. So this was about ninet een eighty seven that I would be Alan, you will love this actually because I used to play Monday to Friday because it's very hard to get gigs midweek . And so I used to play Monday to Friday in Blackpool and I would be on at seven o'clock, I'd be the first act on and would barely get a clap. Yeah , really . And then would be Stan Boardman , Joe Longthorne. Oh, you would be on. Jim and he used to do Shirley Man. Impressions. Jeff Brilliant. Brilliant impressions. Bob Monkhouse, yeah, Ken Dod g, Bernard Manning . This would be the lineup for one night. That's amazing. I know. So it be'dyonds like midnight, but I used to stay behind to watch how are they getting an applause? You know, how are they working the crowd and I'd learn from watching these people go on there and the order they know what I mean? You learn so much from watching an act with an audience. Well, everyone says that half of it is watching and just seeing how it is. Yeah, yeah. And so I apply that now to wine and looking, you know, what are people being drawn to and how people reacting to it. But can you put that down if you know what I mean? When you're doing that when you're or is it every glass? Can you switch that off? Or is it just now inherently? Well, after a third glass you, do switch off bottom. Live. Actually settings . I know what you mean because like almost doing music as a living has kind of ruined music for me. Yeah, that's what I was thinking . Is it annoying? I've not quite got that far down the road of wine yet and I sort of don't want it to be too I want to keep it fun without it being too unalted without overthinking it, I guess. Yes. What did you used to drink before your connoisseur? How dirty did you get? Was it Lycom? Was it Lamborini, Mad Dog twenty twenty ? So it's beers. Beers. Yeah. Do you ever go ever go cider? Scrumpy? Yeah, probably started with cider, I think. Yeah, and then went on to Lager. And then I was playing in these working man's clubs when I was sort of nineteen twenty. So I'd be bitter . Bterit . Green all bitter. Oh god. Yeah, so by the time I discovered I thought you meant you'd be bitter that you were bitter . I was so bitter . This is a bit personal I'm still bitter. You drink bitter So by the time I discovered wine, I think I'd had so much alcohol that I needed something with a bitter taste . Because it's quite bland, isn't it? Large. And you got into wine through red. Yeah. My friend Elliot, who you saw on the wine show, one night he said, I'm gonna order something, but we're going to go big time. Okay. Okay. And he ordered a Santamillion. And I was like, What's this? And it was so good that the Semelier had a little bit before us. He just had a bit of our wine. Yeah. He was like, yeah, I'm just making sure it's a good bottle list. And I thought, hello . And then when I don't know it, I wasn't a good bottle of this. You like that whack a little bit off the bill and get one if you've added a fifty p there Very peaceful more than that. A booked when I tasted it, it was like hang on . What have I been drinking? Yeah . And you do know what I mean We go hang on a minute. What is happening here? I wanted and I wanted to know more and I haven't stopped learning since then, right? Talks just started. Yep. We're gonna come and see it. Are we meant Lee can we come along? Anywhere, anywhere. Oh look, please got a seat. I'll bring my Samsung. I'll start demoing my samsung to you. Nice. I've got a couple of cans of bitter screen on screen brother . So for people who haven't seen it, what can we expect from it? Well , I've seen you before. You put on a bloody spectacle. There's elephants there, there's people whising around, yeah, there's everything. It's a new one for us because we've done lots of tours over the years, but this is actually a repeat of a tour that we did in two thousand nine , which again I saw Coventry. Did you? Yes. We're going back to Coventry. Oh, well Cover belong. Yeah, or come to London it's easier. Yeah I spoke too quick then. Yes, Coventry, ye no offense to Coventry, but I probably will go to the London. Go to London. A lot easier . Yeah. So for us it's been a really interesting one and again with your thing we were like, Are we the first to think of this? Why has no one else done this before? Is there a reason no one else has done it before? And we just thought, No, our audience always talk about this tour . Let's see if we can get it back out of the box where it's the circus tour. It's pretty much as we did it in two thousand eight. Elephant there? Elephants there. Honestly, Lee , it was like a it was a spectacle. It's a good one. You're a good one. Your eyes, there was not a dull, not a dull mom ent and to fill a stadium they're hard, isn't it? Because it's not an arena to say it was like you just left and you went what have I just seen? Wow. It's a big cast. Yeah. So that's seventeen years since the last one, is it? Well, I had a daughter that year, so I know exactly how long it is. I imagine you've probably got a new legion of fans coming up from the daughters of Satan isn's who I'.m seeing So that's gonna be good for them. They'll be able to take their, you know, yes ones or daughters. It is, it's lovely. And we see that from the scene. And the other big differences is I was thirty eight when I did this show last. I'm fifty five now. And I tell you what, we're aching all over . They've been grinding us in those choreography choreographies. Do you sell the wine there? Can people buy some garage? Some places they don're not always let us Yeah, yeah, when I play theatres and stuff they're obviously really nice and let us put it in because we all know theatre wine shit so we had to put some of it decent in Yeah yeah I've got a tip for youes? Y know. You during prey. Pray heal the dance routine. Put a glass of that on the floor . Pick it up. Put it down. No one know it just make sure it's not one of his dog poo bags instead. I will I will bring them along because I've got a whole garage warehouse . You just worry about those dogs you bags like time teams say they find these, you know, like a hundred years. Who the hell was this Allan Gar ? They'll outlive a nuclear war those packages. It will. They'll be the only things like cockroaches and my dog shit bags and a tumblber . So when you finish the show, do you have a drink afterwards, generally? Do you have a is it wine or does it depend on the mood? No, I like a drink afterwards, yeah, yeah. It takes a little minute to calm down which takes a minute . We'll slot that in there somewhere I'm on fire today. Yeah . My opening didn't say could even Mounty. Yeah Because I've heard all these I know I'm sorry and I don't think for a minute this is like I'm breaking news for now . I was embarrassed. I'm embarrassed, I said Oh God. So what would you go for then if it were if you were, you know, red, rose or white, what's your goal? Red in the evenings for me. A lunchtime for me is a white or a rose, definitely an early evening Rose book whenever I can't switch to red, me and him we like we bonded and it's so weird. If people aren't like wine lovers they don't get it but you know it's he comes around the house that evening, always watched him telly, red wine. We just there's something about Red that I think just makes a big hug. Oh, it is. It is. And he sort of just let you go down and you would chat and stuff. I mean, we had so many fun evenings, haven't we just chatting. And also telling jokes and playing music. We got music on and we put like and the red with a nice ballad or something. It's talking about how you're sounding a bit gay. Me too. I remember , come round, we'll put our feet in some water soapy water and have a pifle mini facial sauce . Face mask . Well, I don't want to sound not just gay, but a little bit. I'm worried to ask this, but Sauvignon Blanc, so I would have always oh, thank you. You are good. I've always just assumed I don't think I've ever come across a sauign Blanc blush. Yeah, or have I? usually it's a piece of lovely measures lie . But so is this the South African thing or is it? No, no, we were asked to make this. So when we so this this great bottle here got us into tesco 's . We looked at well and every time we worked at Tesco mention it. I mean honestly, we work with most of the supermarkets and they all are very ambitious , you know, always trying to make us a label that's going to stand out that's simple. The people know what it is. They're always challenging us. And they loved this. And they said, listen, just so one of the big things that's coming up on our shelves is a blush . And I've got to be honest, I couldn't even remember it if I'd had one. Yeah . So when we got to South Africa, it was like, first jobs first, let's make a blush. And it was literally like a science lesson. They had all the little papettes and and it was something like, I think it was a two percent of pinot noir in this that ended up the one we all loved. Right. And we'd blind blind taste them and it's just I just think just the hint of something else in there is just delicious. Yeah . And the thing is, what's the difference between a blush and a rose then? Is it just that it's a very small amount s it. I think the's blend. Yeah. Now the other thing is just this is one thing that whenever I get on the wine show, the TV show, I have to get all the crew together and I must do this today to just say list,en , just so you know, whenever I speak , ninety percent of it's bullshit. It's stuff. It's stuff I've heard on Instagram or someone said it and attacks it and I just repeat it. So I could be repeating . Now you tell us Robbins. How great? Now you tell us. Check everything I say 'cause most of it's wrong. Yeah, but that's why I think, you know, it's good that you're not snobby with the wine, it's accessible. This is what this show is. It's about making it more accessible. Yeah. It's about not, you know , I felt at first I was embarrassed to ask that question about the Sovereign Block, but people don't know. Aren't they? And the rose is obviously it's the leaving the grape skins in there for a little longer that turns it into a rose. That isn't this. This is a blend a tiny bit of pinot noir with the majority being the Sauvignon Blanc , which is why I just think it's so frau. It's so nice. So Gary, we've got a wine dilemma for you. Are you gonna help us solve it? Please sound great. I'm not quite sure how this will go with you just submitting ninety percent of what you say is bullshit , but we'll give it a go. It could be Ruby. Rubber. Very popular. So you know, in the early days we picked bottoms up. It is also the name of podcast for erectile problems . So our post bag was quite interesting Let's see what we pick out. But we did kill that man's hemorrhoids. So bottoms up . There's a part of me that everyone sees. I'm Howie Mandel, the comedian. Apparently I know what funny is. Funny bought me a house, but I also know what isn't funny. OCD . I've lived with OCD my entire life and people throw the term around like it's no big deal. But OCD is severe, often debilitating. Contact store for availability Okay we got a dilemma from Hannah in Clapham . Okay hi boys I've just got back from New Zealand and fell in love with the food and the wine but now I'm hosting a dinner party to show off and I'm completely out of my depth. I want to do a full kiwi inspired night but I don't know what wines will actually impress and what will just make me look like I grabbed the first bottle with a fern on it . What would you serve to win people over? Obsessed with the show , bottoms up . Okay. So here we have three New Zealand wines . Should we have a taste? Oh, we need a glass. Oh, yeah, I'll move those glasses here for you though. Fresh glass. That's so good. We're learning, aren't we? We're learning a fresh glass. I did just I did . I don't know, I don't So we're going to start with Oh, I've brought too many up. I'm not He pe, he , how many glasses do you want? Gary? Sorry , I'll take you seriously, Robford. Unlike you with your two glasses . Now this is a reasling. Resling, rising? Of reasling. Riesling. There we go. Have a taste of that . And what's it for again? It's like a party or something she chose to basically go, oh yeah, I've just come back from New Zealand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you ever stayed in that hotel in Auckland where people bungee you jump off the roof? Oh, the sky dome. Have you ever told you about this? Yeah. I'm unpacking. I arrive in New Zealand, Auckland, people whizzing past the room A shit is so jokes . They just throw in themselves of a casino . Yeah Off the window . Oh my god Bungie Jabs aroon. They need to tell the people . What I'm checking just to let you know there were people falling from the windows. Yeah, it's a bungee jump. Right, come on. So we've got to find we're gonna help Hannah out. Okay, okay. This apparently is bright, zesty, and delicately floral on the nose. These wings are always a bit sweeter , I think. yeah Fresh soap, fresh , crisp, but I mean too sweet for me. It's always a little sweet , no, that's eleven pound . So Hannah eleven, that's so expensive. You think it's expensive for that? Nevin, back . Well that next one, yeah . Okay . Okay, so just a question while you're on this. What's a normal price? How are willing you I'm around fifteen pound for me. That's okay. That's yeah. Reasonably expensive wine. Yeah, and I'll go a little bit higher if wow , if I fancy a treat I'll give you a statistic here. I got no, I did definitely from the dark web Somewhere near Star Wars . ninety nine percent of all UK people who buy wine won't pay above eight hundred fifty Really? That surprises me? Our independent adjudicator went Love Dennis our service in I'm afraid . It's interesting and I think it's just something ingrained in me where I think sometimes higher price means better wine. It's not always the case. We've had wines on here that are , you know, not as expensive and they've been delicious. Right . Let's go on now to here we go root . Very nice. A non vintage this is also I think if she's like coming from New Zealand, you want something a little bit special . Exactly. You want to go Arabic. No, oh I could have got this at my local office license. Okay, so here we've got crisp lively bubbles that feel light and energetic. That's true. What are you getting from that? You getting any taste from that? Yeah. What's coming through? A little lime. Citrus, yeah, we got citrus a little bit . A little bit of apricot , maybe? Oh wait, it says a hint of pear. So maybe nicely dry, but still easy and refreshing to drink, clean, bright finish. That makes you want to take another sip straight away. The mint. This is the celebration bottle. It brings the fun. It's the one that gets poured first, gets down, it goes down very easily and suddenly everyone's a bit louder and having a better time. And remember, she wants to impress. She wants to know what I think this is better than that . Really nice. And she can go hi guys. We're gonna pop open. I'm back from New Zealand and I'm it feels fun, doesn't it? It feels like oh I'm back for me Olives. Let's open this. I think this is my favorite Bobbles are always nice. Always nice. How much do you reckon? That's the question for a bit of fizz . It's a non sparkler price. Yes . I'm doing it as a little game. Ten pounds ? You think for a sparkling? You want to say twenty ? Gary, you're spot on. You spot on. It's twenty. So you're going home with the reasoning and they're safe. They're safe. You're going home with that for the caravan. For the caravan. Do you know where this third one's from a goodly tour No, that is nice. It's really drinkable. And again, Hannah wants to just go. I want to win you over. I want to say I'm back from New Zealand. It's Kiwi inspired. There's some bubbles, you'll get that after taste. I don't get it with that. No, I don't agree. You got and you're like, Oh God, yeah. It's the cheapest shampers I find you go slight old. Now I say this and I'm pissed but sometimes it tastes like sick . Watch champagne, yeah . Well, you can say that. Don't worry about it. That's a strong burning of the burning. Burning the burning. And also you're going to cut to an advert. I love champagne . Make sure you're sick Mind me of being a child when I was sick . You like the label as well. Look at the label. I love the label. It's like very nice yeah . Right, let's move on. Okay, a pinot noir. I'll left the red till lest. All right, we all like a red. Do you like a pinot noir? 'Cause I know you do a Marlb, but do you like a pinot nois? Do you like a pinot noir? What's your favorite red ? Favourite which budget ? Oh yeah I'm pretty good with red. Yeah . When I went to Bordeaux last year we drank some very expensive beautiful wine. Let's say everyday budget. Let's say you just ski yeah, nothing not, hing fancy . would you What go for ? I mean, I have to say our Malbeck is very nice and very drinkable . I also love even the cheaper sort of Margotes and you know , I mean, it's just endless, isn't it? Red ? I love Italian reds as well. Oh yeah . We went somewhere because me and him we like a molebeck, but then someone said that said you like a mold beck and they played a trick on us didn',t they went? They try these pinot noirs. I was like, oh, but they were delicious. And they'd give you a mouthback. They played a trick on us . I'll be no, but it was delicious because sometimes pinot noir can feel a little bit too light and a bit like having Rabina. So the big news with Pinot Noir is as the world warms up, apparently we here in the UK are the next big country for people in the world. Again, could any rubbish could be Rubbish. Yes. Could be fake news, but I got quite excited by it. That is exciting. I feel like we need at the end of this a fact check. You really did. If you've been affected by any of Gary Barlow's statistics, please phone this number . Do you remember the take that help lie? Now this one just for talking to me. Just for the stuff that you say. I know yeah, after I've had a drink . It seems to become more fluent this information the more I drink. Yeah, but God you like the oracle. It's all kind of cheese. Is it good? This is nice. This is nice. So it's light bodied, it's smooth and it's effortlessly drinkable. Juicy red berries you got. You've got your cherry, your raspberry and a hint of strawberry, a touch of gentle spice and soft earthy tones underneath . Silky texture , silky sexture. It's a dinner party classic. This is I know this is your I know what I'm doing wine. It's safe, class and very likeable. Now we've got to remember this is a dilemma for Hannah. What I will say is we've got three red wine drinkers around the table. Yes, we love red wine . How do we know what Hannah's friends like? And I think you've got more of a safe option. I would go over that with a sparkling. Yeah. I like that. I agree. Yeah, I agree. And it's a kiwi inspired night so you can say, look, we're going to kick off, pop open the bottle of psychedelic font. Psychedelic font New Zealand a nice brute and it feels like a celebration. It feels like a celebration and it feels like a welcome host. This is lovely. This pinot is really drinkable, but it's not. Shall we see? What do you reckon? How much do you reckon the pinot noir is? Oh God . twelve quid . What do you reckon ? fifteen quid . That was worth the wait I say a number . Ten pound fifty . Okay. Decent, really. You know, if they ever did a price is right, we're wide. I'd be all right. You'd be bloody. You'd be going over that caravan and a trip to Mauritius . I've just made a scale show . The wine is right. The wine is right. Lurry Grace and Mr . So what are we saying? Are we all of a game? I like this. I think it's a bit too sweet and I think it could divide the room. Again, I think the red could possibly divide the room of people just going on a lot don't like wine the red wine as well. Yeah. That's what I mean definitely. I mean I should go for the tappy from Marlborough, the Buter. I wish to Marlborough went to the Marbor region. Did you Jason did? Yeah. Which was the which was your favorite place in New Zealand you went to? I think Craggy Ridge was my favorite but the Marlborough region for Wynne was amazing. We actually got out on the Marlborough Sound s. Do you know what that means? So the sounds are hot God, I've got a cute. Every time we talk now, I'm thinking, what am I saying? The inlets of water that come in . And so we went on the sounds and we actually went to a muscle farm there where they hoist up these big ropes and cut the mussels off. Cut your muscles and different muscles. Yeah, cut the muscles off, cook them , serve you wine. And they often have in these muscle farms underwater cellars where they store the wine. So do you have to cool? No sun , rocks it nicely so you don't have to it doesn't have to be, you know, my god. That's actually great. underwater. Isn't that amazing? That's amazing. Is that a great idea, that is. And then if you need to go there you do. You need to treat yourselves . Let's go there. Get this West London business. Get out there. Yeah ., Yeah yeah. Let's go there. I supply for a scuba diving license . So our Rundbus Lizzella. The diver goes up, you say what do you want? We'll have the we'll have the so and so. The diver goes here. But is this , is this one of those things where it's like, yes, we're one of these restaurants. It's all made up. It's all made up. Are you actually Gary Barlow ? Are you AI? All right, so we're going to be read while Tappy. Yeah, Hannah from Clapham, have a lovely kiwi inspired night . We go for Tappy. So tappy all the way. Head Head for it, but if you love a red, the pino noir is delicious.. Wow Gary than,k you so much. Legislation remind me of the name of the show or has it not been announced?
