If she wants to keep playing tntil she's sixty, I have a chance. That gives me enough time to train. R which you will start Now. Listen, I haven't I haven't trained since I was eighteen, but I'm sure I can catch up. She can come back so can you She's inspired you. Exactly. All right. There was heartbreak in the Champions League We have a couple direct hits. from the weekend, including a meteor in Boston. I St don't understand what that means. And we're going to debut a new segment, very exciting called That's a Bold Strategy So we'll see if it Pays off for us. all of that and more so much to get to, But first of course, I've gott to introduce who I'm doing it with. I'm Katie Nolen, as I said before, the post of whatever this is, but I'm joined today by two Of our esteemed casualties, the producers here at SeriesXM. we have Isabella, who's our sports newbie. Good day Beautiful. I miss him. I know. How what's how sorry and buub, buub,,, Brady. dude here. Okay, but Chris, where he's in Australia, Chris, our editor And and third fourth mike here Um When does he come back Th years from now three years is crazy. I can't believe you took three years off. On IG and TiTok we are at Casuals, the podcast. Just save that somewhere so that eventually I can stop doing this because Because we're wasting valuable time. And then another thing sorry to disappoint. But again, right as we're sitting down to record this, news has broken that there is a blockbuster trade in the NFL. Miles Garrett, we just found out minutes ago is being traded to the Rams. This is from both Sfter and Rapeport. The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send Miles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams The Rams are expected to send Pro Bowl Edge Jared Verse, a twenty twenty seven first round pick and other draft pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns. Good news is, I wasn't the person you were coming to for this information anyway. Bad news is, we aren't deep enough into the discourse that we have a funny segment based off of all the implications of this. So all I'm telling you right now is just because I want you to have the information bigig trade that everyone's probably talking about. Miles Garrett traded to the Rams feels sufficient for us to move on from that into the goofball stuff that I have prepared for the show, What Brady I think the big news here is that Chloe is from Long Beach. So this just inevitably leads to a lot more family diners with. Chloe Kim his girlriend. Oh cute. So that is yeah, that's good. That'll be a good I don't love. The Rams always find a way to have the money to get people. I don't know what that is but I don't So let's movecap. Listen, I do want to talk football though, believe it or not, at a time like this, something that jumped out to me was a bunch of instances of sound that I heard from football over the weekend. So I'm going to give you the context for this, but we heard from quite a few football players in like stark contrast. They stood in stark contrast to each other. guysu on the same team Let's start with the New York football giants. Obviously last week, we had a conversation about what was going on over their drama wise. quQarterback Jackson Dart had decided that he would go intntroduce President Trump at some event in Suffn, New York and got a let's go Giants chant going. It was all very, very awkward and uncomfortable. And of course it made a lot of people that he plays football with uncomfortable in an awkward way. One of whom was Abdul Carter, his fellow first round pick there Both first round picks by this team And Abdul Carter took to Twitter the day after this story, the day after Jackson did this and said he thought it was AI. likeike what are we doing, man? And then Jackson Dart he then Abdul Carter deleted that tweet. There was a lot of blowback towards Abdul Carter that he divided the locker room quote unquote taking it to Twitter and involving people in this drama. Not that it was Jackson Dart's fault for out of nowhere deciding to involve himself politically with maybe the most divisive president of our my lifetime. Certainly his So um The updates to that story. The giants scheduled a team meeting that week A Muslim holiday day that Abdul Carter, a Muslim man, had already informed the team He wasn't going to be there. They called a team meeting to discuss this And it was being reported Abdul Carter not present by certain outlets, only for people to go, Well, that's because it was a previously disclosed abence for a religious holiday whichich I guess would almost double down that feeling of disrespect if I were Abdul Carter. and I felt like my teammate doesn't respect me and my religion enough for it to inform his political opinions, fine, but to call a meeting of the locker room when I can't even be there Kind of wild. We would say Abdul Carter didn't. and this is where we arrive at the point. They had organized team activities, which from here on out, we will call OTAs. but I just wanted a casual or a newer fan to know. OTAs are organized team activities. It's like the first instance of everybody back to school, quote unquote for NFL teams where they all come back and they start to dabble in the ideas of practice and becoming a team again. So they they had this these first OTAs and on Friday a week after the inciting incident of Jackonart introducing Donald Trum at a rally for a sitting president Uh, they T to the media about it for the first time And um I don't even know I wonder who I should start with first so that these stand in better contrast U I don't know who spoke first. I know Harbagh spoke and he basically said, lookook, these two had it out between them This is an issue between grown men.'m actually he kept calling it an opportunity. I'm excited that we had an opportunity as a team to come together and discuss these issues in a really tangible, practical way because they're happening right now to sort of decide where we as a team stand on this kind of stuff, which I think is a great coach response. It's what you want to hear He also mentioned that he did know that this was going to happen that that Jackson was doing this ahead of time. but he did not know the scope of it It sounded like he was told that Jackson Dart was going to shake President Trump's hand. But he did not know that he was going to do that on a stage while also telling the crowd to chant for the New York football giants. U and to and just overall say that he was pleasured. to be there. So M Carter comes out and like I said, New York media and some of the national media, you know, those that like to dive in and make a mess. A lot of people were pinning this on Abdul Carter, which I stand by that being one of the more ridiculous things I've ever heard. but I've left room for maybe when I hear from both of them One of them will be clearly more, you know will have put more critical thought into this and considered his position Well, we got to hear from both of them. Let's start with Abdul Carter, whose quote unquote fault it was that the locker room was divided. This was him talking to the press how this all feels for him So first off, I' want to say that some things are bigger than football And this is one of those things. Jackson is one of our leaders He's the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself and what he does But he represents all of us and that goes for anybody Wherears the giants uniform If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump It's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates I'm against that, but to show the world. Which to me, okay I loved Yeah because it was like, listen, he's a leader on the team. one of them There are a couple. He's one of the leaders on this team. when he puts on that jersey, it represents the team And so if he were going to align himself politically one way, I felt it was my responsibility to let people know, I don't align myself that way And that makes perfect sense. It does not put any blame on Jackson Dart. He goes on to say like we are men. we can talk about this. we can disagree and still continue to be teammates. that can be my brother. and that basically I felt it important to say, I don't align with this. It was important to me And u And to me, that was like, Yeah, that makes perfect sense. It really holds up to scrutiny. There is no, I don't know how you could possibly criticize that. Let's hear now. What one of the leaders J s JD six Jackson Dart, the one who introduced President Trump. G put a D in there. Let Yes, sorry, Jay D six january d sixth Let's hear what Jackson Dart. his was a pre wrritten atement Abdal Carter, I believe took some questions and answered them well. Jackson Dart that he wants to issue this statement, and then he refers back to this statement when he's asked questions, Let's hear what he had to say. No obviously, this was a unique opportunity being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States My thinking was pretty simple in the fact of know I've always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought in wars. I have two uncles who retired from the Air Force Academy and serve themselves Um And I even have a great grandfather who served as Secretary of Treasury at some point. so the president position has always been a position that I've well respected regardless of political affiliation Okay, u And that's and thank them for our service, if you could, please for their service. but it's not really when he says my thought process on this was a simple one, we know. You know, We could tell that part And so u You know, he goes on to say, I understand I'm the quarterback of the giants and that involves a lot of responsibility. It's under a limelight, under a microscope And so it's like the words weren't necessarily considered. because if you're gonna to write a statement and issue your statement I go, well, you know what, maybe they just are nervous public speaking and I don't want to expect too much from a guy that potentially could be a franchise quarterback at least that's what people were thinking before. I don't know where they're on that now But let me not expect too much room. If he wants to prepare a statement because he feels he can communicate more clearly that way, then I'm not one to judge. But when this is the prepared statement full of us and os and a limelight microscope, but it's just oo many is a lot of words and a lot of time to not really answer any questions. And when he was asked afterwards, like do you feel you made a mistake Do you see why people in the locker room or teammates of yours would be frustrated or confused or upset by what you did He kept saying, and again, I'd like to leave it with what I said before and what I said before is what I'll be saying about this matter And it's like, yeah, but The reason we're asking that question is because what you said before kind of give us not. Did't give us a go girl, give us absolutely nothing. It didn't answer any of these questions. These still remain. And so I guess we're wondering, do you understand what has happened here today? and you keep saying I said what I was going say and now I'm done saying? And so look, I again, it's It's not a It's not to discuss this separate from their political affiliations. I know that's difficult to do and I know that nobody's going to believe me that that's what I'm trying to do by showing these, but it's just one of those people knew why he felt the way he felt and and was compelled to take a difficult stand aboutb it And the other didn't really think it through and wants you all to leave him alone U and I just it came through so starkly those two sound bites next to each other that it felt worth mentioning and updating. Another story kind of similar to this with The Vikings over the weekend, also doing or last week, whenever it was, whatever day They're also doing OTAs. Um, and their second orrganized team activity last week opened it up to local media members for the first time Now I will remind you what's going on Isabella with the Vikings. So last season JJ. McCarthy and debuted and played. Now JJ. McCarthy was supposed to debut the year before but he got injured Brady was that preseason that like right before the season Yeah. He got hurt and he ended up missing his entire first season So there was like a is he going to be okay? What's he going to look like? It was like a delayed look at JJ McCarthy And JJ. McCarthy came out and was not very good He missed five games from I believe that was a high ankle sprain. He missed one game because of like a hairline fracture in his hand. so he missed Six games, total But He had, uh eleven touchdowns, twelve picks QB rating was seventy two point six. Brady put that in context. No one hundred is good like. So he's like a like a se. He was okay. And because I think of the heightened expectation after a year of not being able to see him play in the in that light, people were not thrilled with his performance Then in the off season, I guess in March, the Cardinals released Tyler Murr been their quarterback for seven seasons He finished his tenure there ranking third in the team history in passing yards touchdowns And second in completion. So team history wise, he's he did pretty well But there was always a knock on Kyler Murray, which to summarize that and simplify it as much as possible. So if you're in the weeds on this listener and you're like, that's not what happened. I'm just trying to get to it quickly. We have a lot to explain I'm just trying to explain it. So Kyler Murray the knock on him was that he wasn't focused enough that he lacked focus, he wasn't a leader He was they had to famously put a stipulation in his contract that he wasn't allowed to play video game or was it that he wasn't allow to play video games Theyed play too much call of duty and needed to watch tape instead of playing call of dy. So it was like he had to like monitored watch tape so they could ensure he wasn't just like playing Maden or whatever it was he was playing. That was the knock on him. But he was cut by that team. They released him. and then the next day he signed a one year deal for the veteran minimum with Minnesota. So now you've got JJ. McCarthy in his technically third but second season going into his second season competing for a job, quote unquote, We don't really know we're going to learn throughout preseason with Kyler Murray, who finished seven seasons over there. lackluster knock on him is that he doesn't focus. So we hear from the two of them and we get to ask, what's it like in the QB room over there They're both going to give us their insight. I heard Um Kyler Murray's first. here So let's do it in that order. Kyl Mur. Here is Kyler Murray talking about the relationship between him and J. J McCary in the quarterbackom s been great. Obviously I know he's a younger guy. So any way I can help him. obbviously I feel like you know, I've played seven years now going on eight. so I'm considered a veteran, even though I don't see myself as that. G him any knowledge that he needs. Again, you know, we're both competitors and I know you know We both won with special of the team Of course, of course. Yeah. he's now he's overly acceptive, you know, and he's always communicating asking questions stuff like that. so it's been good. Okay, fine ine. Okay. And then let's hear from JJ McCarthy, kind of the same thing. What's the relationship between you and Kyler Murray? What's it like in the quarterback room? Here is JJ McCarthy's answer What's your relationship been like with Kyler so far? You know, it's just like two guys in a classroom. you know, he sits on one side, I sit on the other side, and it's a coach's responsibility to teach us and coach us Is there any awkwardness like between you two U Awkwardness, you know, it's just like the same feeling, you know, when you're in high school and there's another person on the other side of the room That's just kind of how it is. so I wouldn't say there's any awkwardness. Wait. What His entire high school experience, all he remembers that there were rooms. There were other people There were other people sitting. I didn't know those people or was I supposed to talk to those people dont over my business. I don't know. that' I was sort of here to do one thing. Just a starkly different response. Now, I guess you could say that one probably bullshit since it seems obvious now they don't have much of a relationship and when Kyler Murray was asked, is he receptive to that The answer was probably No, he has not been. He has been acting as if I'm just another guy in a room and he keeps calling it high school. But Kyler Murray, who is a veteran presence, as he said, even though he doesn't think of himself that way, knows that that's not what you say to the media. You don't say, I don't know him. Does he go here? I didn't even notice. You say like, yeah, everything's great. spirits are high, teeam's going to be great. feeling really good about the season. Like present a united front. It seems like that through to JJ at all. It seems like all he heard was like, don't badmouth him and then did not think of coming up with what he would say instead. So he just keeps going, Hey people older than me. You know how in high school Um A guy was also there with you in the room. It doesn't it's like the least T me was also a little surprising. I did not think Kyler Murray would come away from that looking like the more natural leader on a team he's brand new to with a history of the knock on him being that he's not a good leader. So like I don't know I feel like we kind of deserve to give Kyl Murr a little credit there where it's due Jry Brady's face is like like it was same all theays JJ McCarthy would descreree. All it's just all spatial. Like he's sitting in the he's the line leader. He's sitting on the blue squares of carpet. Yeah. I'm sitting on the red squares of carpet. That's our relationship And that's u, concerning. It's just a little bit like buddy, all right? And I get maybe he's mad that it's like, who is this guy? How dare he come in? He stinks fine, but like, Hide it, you know, perform the other part of your job where you go like, Kyler's been so great. I've been learning so much and then go home to your boys and go I wish this dude would stop trying to teach me how to be quarterback. Like compomlain in the group chap. But then again, I guess if you refer to your classmates as other people in the room, you're probably not a big friends guy. I don't know. Maybe you're a lone wolf He strikes me as a guy who I spnd a really long time being tall and handsome and that kind of worked for a really long time. You it's maybe the first time it's not working and he's thoroughly confused by what the next G guysys why are you expecting so much from me? Don't you see that I'm both? Tall and handsome. And I guess that's why he has to invite a second He has to introduce in his brain a second an alter ego for himself so that he can have a buddy somebody to talk to. He's JJ butuddy's also nine, you know? He's two guys. You know, when it's when you are two guys in a classroom and then there's also another guy there with you. Okay. let's So anyway, that's the that's a yap and we're going to take a quick break. When we come back, we're going to get to the rest of it dude. We got to talk college softball whichich means we'll have to talk a little bit of college baseball as well just so we're even and fair. And then I have some we got some we got to talk basketball. And hockey, and then we got some fun segments. So lot's coming up don't anywhere it's casuals. We'll be it right back so much to get to today. And you might not have thought we were gonna like Lead with softball. The softball has been fucking Awesome. I've been so enjoying the softball. lastast night, Dan and I usually watch Jeopardy every time we eat dinner and he's away this week, which is a little different. ussually he's gone on the weekends. But anyway last night we were there was no like a basketball or hockey playoff game and he was like, well, what are we gonna watch? We'll just watch Jeopardy. And I was like, actually, I think we are gonna watch Softball And he was like, okay, Dan got more into it than me. By the end of the game, Dan was like thinking he kept he was like, I'm okay, I'm gonna go play video games and then he kept coming back in and he was like, they tied it up. Like it was so Texas tech Just no, there was WWE on too, so that's love. Well, that was. It was not during the day. he watched the o it was Italy. He watched it during the day Yeah Dan folded laundry and watched the W I'm telling too much about this man's life Let me back up Texas Tech played USC. Now we've talked to you about Texas Tech a lot on this podcast, but as a refresher, they are basically assembled through the transfer portal all these different softball powerhouses, they put together this school of these women that played at all these big schools. Now we are in the C colllle football worldld series where obviously the big schools are present. And so almost every game against Texas tech is like a revenge game for somebody on their team because they've assembled all of these stars from different teams. They also have this two pitcher tandem that is absolutely electric. It's fascinating. They get away with it within the rules, It's fully within the rules of softball Because these girls, I don't know the rule, but they can also both play in the field. So because of that, they're able to cycle them out and into the pitcher's mound multiple times throughout a game, which again is legal, but's just a fascinating dynamic to a game when you're used to say the rhythms and rules of like professional baseball And so it's been really interesting. They're a really interesting team. They've had a lot of drama off the field, which we will get to in a second, but I did want to talk about this game last night against UCLA crazy went two extra innings. The game started off with a bang. They were like neck in neck with the scoring for a while. It was like one one. They were always every bottom of the inning was an answer to the top of the inning. lotots of hits, lots of big hits in big moments. Again, like I said, Caitlin Terry and Nja Kannedy are the two pitches pitchers and they were swapping off. alsoso worth noting, Caitlin Terry used to play for UCLA This was kind of her revenge game. Um, I'm not going to recount an entire softball game to you, but just know that it was Wh's who hit that it was Jordan Woolllery, right It was who hit the tying the game tying Ramsay Suarez hit the one to make it seven five and then with one out. two outs Jordan Woolllery hit the two run Homer to tie it when they were down to their last out. So they tied it up to go into extra innings. then in the eighth inning, The sprinklers turn on Because the game' only supposed to go seven ands go to extras and the sprinklers are probably on a timer. And so suddenly we're in a delay of game because it's just everyone's getting soaked. TheP cooling down. The ESPN camera guy scrambling to get the cover because the thing is shooting directly at his camera and he's just like sccreaming, trying to get the cover. It was so funny, watching how pissed off he was Um I mean, between that and earlier in the day, I don't know if you guys saw Holly Row had two live stream The game on her Instagram, which shout out Holly Row. What can't she do? the there was a blackout, some sort of a technical issue. The broadcast dropped out, Holly Ro goes live on Instagram and calls the game while it's happening. not this game, but a different game. that had happened earlier in the day. Fascinating, incredible, but also maybe the sprinklers turning on and the stuff fall apart, Maybe we'll make sure that this wouldn't usually happen in a men's game, right? So maybe we can make sure that it also doesn't happen in the women's. I'm sorry it just comes naturally. You might watch a full game on Holly's metedaglasses Yeah, I she was really worst idea. She was really good. I hate metagasses just like from like a existential standpoint, I feel like they don't really do a good job of Letting people know that they're on. They should have like neon juice lights I have cameras on my face right now. I just want to the idea of me.. No. Just ' you have glasses on. And I also don't like being inherently suspicious of anyone who approaches me wearing glasses. And so I just think it's creating a bad dynamic. Katie doesn't trust nerds. I justs and that's the narrative that will be spun about me, but it won't be true. It's just, I don't trust the nerds who made glasses that record me without telling me I don't trust them at all. So anyway, back to the softball. They tie it up, they go to extras, they continue to be incredible. They swap out their pitchers. It comes down to Nija Kannedy, who by the way, has not been having an incredible post season. She's been struggling a little bit And at one of the times that she came back into that game last night She threw three consecutive balls escalating in height over her catcher's head that I was like, uh oh If you want to go back to the other pitcher, this feels it, but then she ends up striking them out. So it's like she she did what she needed to do and she closed out the game. It got a little bit close The run that scored during an error committed the previous inning, they scored two runs at the top of the inning, this extra inning And at the bottom, they scored one run, UCLA, but they weren't able to score two. and so they lost and Texas te One Um they're. They're very good. And they're very good because if they were good, that'd be crazy. You went out and got all the good ones. You know what I mean? So like of course, it's good. They're also very fun to watch My issue is they tend to continue to have this drama that follows them as a team. And my the bigger part of the issue is that the drama continues to center upon a lot of their. Dabs And so I thought because we have a father of daughters here, I thought maybe we could discuss What the role of a father is when it comes to his daughter being an elite athlete. So So just to give a little bit of context, not on you, Brady. You can give token girl Dad, please. We just need to hear from you on booots on the ground because these dads, first we had Jason Williams, who is obviously famous in his own right, white chocolate He himself was an alumni of the school that his daughter was playing against. Texas teech was playing Florida. His daughter had transferred from Florida to Texas teech. He obviously went to Florida, just recently was supporting them in their men's basketball program. And so he's associated with that school, but he got loud and a little bit boisterous and a little bit antagonistic with that school And that made headlines as it would He works in the media. He works at our stool So it all makes sense that that kind of became a storyline. But then againgst Tennessee They ran into this other issue. So Taylor Panell who went to Tennessee Trferred to Texas Tex. this was her revenge game. They lost this game to Tennessee And In the handshake line, Taylor basically alleged that coach, her former head coach Instead of saying good game, which is what they say and they hand they go down the line Isabela, shake hands, good game, good game, good game. It's as much a just like a ritual as anything. Just symbolic. good game, good game, good game U She's alleged that her coach said to her, you made a mistake So I didn't read that part of. But the order so the order that this happens, the winning head coach does the media availability first and they ask her if anything happened in the handshake line and what she said to Taylor Panel And the woman says, I said good game, like I say to everybody And then Taylor Panell has her media availability. and she says the coach said that that I that I should have that I made a mistake. So the next day they review the tape and Holly Row basically says I was standing right there. I didn't hear that The tape shows that as she goes down the line and shakes hand with her head coach, she doesn't react to anything her head coach says. But at the end of the line later before they go back to like their dugout to get their bags and go home. I don't know what happens at the Coege of Rllers. They And she you see her turn and sort of get like offended at something that was said. And so what it seems like is like maybe somebody else said that and she heard it or I guess the other option is that she completely made this up, which I don't think She would do, but it is clear that like falsely accused her coach because her coach did not say that. And this devolved into drama online And then her dad got way too involved in the online discourse Um Her dad who I guess Brady has a history of doing this. history that I wasn't aware of until I started Googling his name. And so I went to his Twitter and this is where I brought it to Dan and I said, L, I know you don't have kids, so maybe you're not the guy ask. and this is why I do want to talk to Brady about this. But I said, if you had a daughter Who was like at an elite soft college softball program Would you have a Twitter account and would it only tweet about her And Dan was like my philosophy, personal philosophy, I think would be By the time she's in college, this is a career for her. She's making money. this is a money making venture. She's got to set off on her own. He was thinking in the lens of Jason Williams and like not wanting to associate with his daughter when he's got his own like let her stand in her own light. He doesn't know about this panel guy. but he was like, I would not tweet about myrandon Panel's Twitter account is just about his daughter. It's just about his daughter's program. It's all hyping up his daughter, whichich I guess is better than him sharing his political opinions and hyping up his daughter. But it does feel strange that it isn't He seems singularly focused on his nearly grown, if not grown Ch. And I just wonder, is that the way to look supportive or is that an overstepping of a boundary I see a lot. so my daughter plays ten year old Travel Lacrosse, which she's only ten, but we arere in the state of Maryland. It's fairly intense. We're all over the place and like all of these programs produce D one athletes Um I see a lot of people go about it differently. I see Dads who you know, wear the merch and they're supportive and they bring the snacks and they'll hold a sign, they'll clap And that's about it I see also dads who are living and dying by these successes and you can tell it's a personal affront to them if their child makes a mistake, but it's also a personal front to them if another child makes a mistake it becomes very So aggregndizing Like it becomes very, very much about the dad themself Guys who yell at a ten year old child I mean, I will grow up into being the ones who will yell at a nineteen twenty year old child in college. that's an adult. nineteen twenty year old in college That's aboring to me. L that is These are Young women, these are children, these are people making their own way, playing their own sport. It does not need to be about me. They shouldn't hear my voice. L I the most supportive I can be is I will shut the hell up in the stands clap for my daughter. but hug her when she comes off the field and that is the end of the vocality. I will listen to what she has to say. I will cheer her on Goddamn it needs to be about her at the end of the day. I see Brandon Panellel's Twitter account. I'm like, you're not doing this for her You have found something that you just want to be loud and angry about. You have something that you feel like you can be competitive about and make your identity for the sake of you not making it about anythingthing for the sake of her. Yeah, you're probably proud as hell as a dad. but this Twitter account and the fact that you're attacking people online is not being done for her sake at. Yeah. Yeahah, I think it is important for the distinction to be that like this guy clearly crosses a line. He reached out to like a journalist. I think he sent her a DM and then also I think she might have blocked him and then he put this in her comments. But like invoking her her father who had passed away saying your dad is rolling around in his grave reading the clickbait trash you continue to write. going on to say you've been fired from fast pitch news softball America and D one softball would not hire you. Wonder why and This guy crosses a line. This guy is wildly inappropriate. It's also possible his daughter loves that he's like this, That's just my dad, that's just my dad. And I've met you know, I didn't get close to professional serious softball, but I remember people who had dads like this and there were daughters who loved that their dad's like this, and there were daughters who hated and were mortified that their dads were like this I don't pretend to know anything about their relationship. All I can say is his behavior online is clearly crossing a line. I I'm taunting other people about like even when she loses, she makes more money than you. and it's like Buddy. We didn't fight hard for college athletes to get paid so that you could use that to make other people who love college sports feel po that sort of the fucking move. So like this guy stinks. but like this has sort of got me because there was that other dad that somebody was alleging was doing the sucket in the crowd. and you're just like it there's just such an interesting a lot of girls' dads were their coaches in youth sports. And so I think because of that, that relationship is always really interesting and watching the dad's sort of brring themselves to the front of this discussion during this awesome world series has been annoying The dads are annoying And it's also got me thinking about like Oh man, what would my dad be like if I had done well? I almost am glad that I didn't put us in that position. that I sucked bad enough that we didn't have to find out what kind of stage dad I would have had I know I wasbe it's good that my tennis career ended. Yeah. Maybe actually we did us our families at least a favor. Yeah by not letting our dad have to get out there and defend us. I don't know, man. It's just people are so weird about when women in sports get like competitive and mean. like's been a lot of flipping and showboating and like, you know, they hit Jason Williams daughter five times and she revenge by, you know, it hits a home run and then like stunts on them and people have been like, this game is is out of hand and it's like it's that I'm fine with All of that on the field is like what the women are choosing to do with the game. I think it's exciting. I think it's fun. I think it's cool. As soon as we're talking about the guys in the stands, that's when I go and nobody asked you, sir. And sir, if you could take a seat or several. I just it can't be your taking it too far You're taking it too far Um Brady that feels right to you're going gonna be that kind of dad I'm not gonna to be that kind of dad. All right, like good Isabella ome hit me with something. If I ever tell a story, you're like you became that. You guys are our witness. He said it was okay for Isabella to come hit him with something. I will say it's a long trip to hit a guy with something. But I think it'd probably be worth it. defly woray I' on my way. I'm I'm coming. Don't hit record on the Zoom. 'ause I'm gonna hit you with the head when I get there. You yell at a twelve year old gullie I'm coming. I think I'm using a whist but I'm open to other suggestions So this was all just to tell you to we can't talk meaningfully about what's going on right now in the womomen's College World series because it has progressed while we're recording this. But the actual final seven game three game series, sorry, the final three game series is over the course of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, if necessary. So by the time you're hearing this, the final two teams, I think will be decided And then just let's make sure we watch that because this has been Really intense, exciting and awesome. The level of competition is very high. The games have been interesting. It's not the only interesting game. There was also that Texas eliminated Nebraska on Sunday. That game was crazy. This is going to take two seconds for me to tell you, but Geordi Fr the pitcher for Nebraska had a perfect game through I believe five innings. She had a U no hitter through Five and a third. so it was into the sixth inning And then she also had been the only one that scored the run that they had. It was one, nothing U because of her And then she ended up they broke up the no hitter and then they ended up winning devastating loss. but I wanted to shout out Geordie From becausecause that was an incredible performance. I know it didn't work out in the end. but that was absolutely incredible, phenomenal. Here's all your flowers. I'm sorry that it went that way and that Nebraska is eliminated. But what a game that was from her Brady, you said also in the baseball UCLA is out and that's big That was huge. So baseball is about two weeks behind. So they just started their regionals and they have super regionals coming up this weekend But UCA was the first overall number one seed to ever lose their home opener for the regionals since they started this format They lost by a run to Stain. Mary's. They are the best team in the country. They have the best player who's going to be the number one pick, Rock Kowski. Um They lost their first night. played Virginia tech the second day and had to hit two lead off had to hit two homers to open the bottom of the ninth inning just to tie it up and come back and then had to play for another elimination game and got walked off by Saint Mary's again. Ticket bounce like three insane one run games in a row. For UCLA and now number one overall seed, they're gone. So feels wide open. A bummer for UCLA. But like Brady said, they're two weeks behind. so we will talk more college baseball as we get closer to the actual Wor sereries, which will be in two weeks, ish U Okay, moving on to basketball because last time we did not know who was going to face Isabella's Nicks in the finals. It was between the Spurs and Thunder That series came down to game seven And a lot of people counting out the spurs And they were wrong because the sppurs ended up winning one eleven, one hundred three, seven sppurs players in that game scored in double digits. Viictor Weembinyama had twenty two. SGA went out doing his best given he left it all on the floor. thirty five points played a great game. Unfortunately, the main narrative coming out of that was that Chet Holgren did not have a very good game or series. The series was bad for him, but in the game, I think he attempted two shots, made one of them and that was in the first four minutes of the game. And then whenby dunked on him and he didn't try not And And look, we casuals, we I don't like to harp on negative. We don't call for coaches' jobs. I don't like to go like this guy lost us the series But like that was a u That was a pretty tough look. for Chet And so a real bummer, I think SGA handled it really well. afterwards in the press, he was like, look, I don't think he was happy with that series, but whatever. One thing I do want to say about SGA because I saw a lot in this series of people start to join the hate train of like, screw this guy. he flops a lot. He's plays on ethical basketball, etcetera, et ccetera. And wherever you fall on that argument I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't deny his incredible talent. It is not a brand of basketball. I like watching. I find it really annoying and frustrating And I think that's by design. It doesn't even feel like a piece of criticism. It's like that's kind of what it's supposed to do. Of course I don't like it, but anyw, regardless of where you land on that, I saw a story come out and people reacting to it in a way that surprised me. so I wanted to make sure we talk about this and clarify it Apparently, reportedly, lawyers for SGA sent a cease and desist to this company called Underdog Sports Underdog sports is a gambling site gambling app They do content the same way that a lot of gambling apps do content and they will revoke your funding and pivot to prediction markets. rightight before your baseball season, if you're a baseball podcast that was on underdog. Like the one I listen to was They'll just screw you over for the sake of game. So I don't really no love loss between myself and underdog. They are Fine But they SJA's lawyers sent them a cease and desist because they were using his name And I believe an AI generated image of him to try to sell a board game fun at his style of play. The board game was called unethical Hoops. It was a joke, like a play on the game operation where you would have to try to get stuff out of the baskets of the guy on the table. You ever play operation Isabella or on board Y. Okay sick U sorry. No, it's okay. I was also I got distracted in my mind too because I was gonna to ask if you saw Kiki Palmer and the guy from Hot Olandes play Twister. Oh my god ye Yeah, and I'm like rooting for the hook I feel psy opt into that. When did the two of them ever have like chemistry It always goes back. It does. o. Okay, tell me later because it was weird. Okay So it was a play on operation, but instead of trying to perform surgery on a patient players are trying to take a ball away from a basketball player. That's funny, right? Fny idea. But like using it to this is the other thing I've noticed these like gambling companies will tweet news or like stuff about like Livy Dun on Paul Skene's Game dayay. And I'm like, this is a weird conflict of interest. They shouldn't be allowed to disparage or be negative about these players It just seems like a weird line being crossed, although I'm not really sure I can put into quick succinct words what it is about it It bothers me, but if you're AI generating an image of me and using my likeness to profit. At my expense, what and they don't Yes. J did not even giving anyone ideas At my expense, I feel like I have every right to go, okay, you can't use my face for that. And I saw a lot of people going like, wow, SGA can't handle criticism and it's like This istis isn' justitis. This is a gambling company that already makes money off of his labor. that he's like mythically not really allowed to see or touch because that would be a conflict of interest They're already making money off of him, using his name image and likeness and putting him down to make more money off of him that he'll never see. So I think this is a completely ethical use of cease and desist. and I don't think this should be adding to this conversation about SGA and if he's like You should stand with the athletes when they go, Hey, this gambling company can't use my likeness without m We should be on his side for this, whether we like the way plays basketball or not Yeah, I mean, he's he seems like a good guy who just like is really good just plays the most annoying style Po Mars. It is really good It's something I'm not into Wha I mean, that's an unnecessary shot. I don't anyone asks shade B is one of the best halftim Superowl halftime shows we've had. And I'm telling he's really good at something I'm just not to it, but that doesn't make him bad. Yeah, sure. okay, yeah. I guess that is fine. I just You know, you didn't move on. Nobody asked, you know. always I bristle when a man shares his unsolicited opinion on my podcast. It's like, I'll let you know if I wanted to know. Okay, so that means all of this is to say that Isabella, it's the Spurs. did not know who the nexticks were going to get in the final. You didn't know who you wanted them to faceally But I was truly basing that off of like what everyone was saying of like, o, like, you know, it's everyone' sounding that like if it's OKC, it's going to be a much harder opponent. But then as it went on, I was like, I don't know, honestly They're both scaly. I know. Weemby's very scary. I didn't realize he was that tall guys. I'm not gonna lie. I had nott seen him until like last week She goes, No I'm sorry, how tall did you say Weemby was? It's like she started the two her She was like six seven. And I was like, no, baby, I wish. You wish You wish he's seven four, is it? I think he's seven five. Whatever, yeah. He's longowing. He is a very long guy. You like started you guys tell me and he's only fourteen. I know. We could we really are missing the opportunity to just misinform the hell out of Isabella. You know You guys really could. Wh we play ethical podcasting So I'll just say this, we've we're going to have plenty of time to talk about this and no game has been played yet. It will the first game is Wednesday for the NBA Tuesday for the NHL And then they kind of alternate skipping days throughout. So Isabella, I just will say this scale of one to ten. How are you feeling now that you know it's the spurs going into the finals against the Kicks I'm gonna throw up. Okay, so that's like a two our. I'll say, I'll say She she says four is what she said Exactly. Okay, perfect U So that's the NBA. We'll get to that like I said, more as the series progresses. And then in the NHL what happened there? Well, the hurricanes beat the Canadians six to one in that last game. It was really, I mean, I said it online in a really eloquent way, but it was weird. I was rooting for the Canadians and I wasn't But I was close to rooting for the Canadians as a Bruins fan. It's the closest I've ever come to having a positive thought about the Canadians. I don't know why. They felt like the scrappy underdog team in that series. the hurricane something about them makes them feel like like the bad guys in the mighty ducks And I was indoctrinated on those films. So I just it was and I was half rooting for them. That last game was so hard to watchot kindind of rooting for a team I hate played like ass cheeks. and so it was a brutal experience and I'm just glad that it's over It does mean, of course, that a Canadian team will not win the Stanley Cup this year. A Canadian team Isabella has not won the Stanley Cup since nineteen ninety three. And pretty frustrating, I imagine, because it's not like Canadians don't play for all of the American based teams, but I feel bad Canadian fans this is their national sport. They love it so much. their teams don't seem to be able to get it done for whatever reason. veryery frustrating, however That's why we deserve even more credit and should be giving more flowers to the Montreal Victoire. who we know. It again, they're, um The way their series played out was hard to talk about in depth on this podcast, but the PWHL was won this year by the Montreal Victoire. It was a thrilling and exciting series and they had their celebration parade This past, what was it Saturday in Montreal and it was If you haven't seen video, it warmed my heart. they The city showed up and celebrated these women and the women Did not disappoint in their celebrations. Abby Rock Friend of the show. We had her on back when she played here in New York Um, she was like chugging a beer And then poured the rest of it all over her face. which is just I love that sick and cool. She's just I can't begin to explain to just how drunk the average athlete is at one of these parades because you just go you go up and down the street, people just tossing you beers. beer after beer after beer. I love that they partook in this like the same With all of the energy of like the Philadelphia Phillies, like they did like the full go at it. That's right. Girls girls can drink beer too.ll And they do Um They were there was a moment where they were like singing and dancing along to Celine Dion. And then I saw online Celine Dion Tweeted Felit Tassones laa Victoire de Montreal, Por Reo Remporte la Cp Valaire because they won the Walter Cup W teair because the at the end there. It's been a while since I've taken French and I tested out of it in college because my understanding of it was so thorough that they said you don't have to keep doing that. And all that did was make me forget all of it. but I'll be there in a couple of weeks Yeah. Anyway, I thought that was cool. They did an incred I should. I asked Dan if he was gonna and he laughed at me. I was like, Oh, I don't know. we both took French. Usually at least one person took Spanish. That's what everybody took. It's what we should have taken I took French and it has not ever served me until I could it could maybe serve me right now. Did you watch Muzzy? Dan was not into it. No, but we will Is just we L Jon Fi Um, All right. And then also Isabele, we've talked about heated rival a lot. I don't know if you saw that the Victire. There was like a big, that big crowd did a sing along to all the things she said, which is becoming like a new hockey anthem because of that show, which I love Okay. So that's the hockey the Stanley Cup final is set. That is a thing that hockey fans will yell at you about. So I'll just say it here informatively for casual fans. It is the NBA Finals And it is the Stanley Cup final. singular. I don't know why. They get very mad if you call it the finals. Maybe they've calmed down on that During my formative years on the internet It was used against. I'll test it out. Try it Yeah.. Yeah. What's the worst thing can happen? Well, I know a hockey fan No doubt'll be mean to me, so I'll try it. Okay. Let us know, report back. homework well as just posting, Man, I love the MLP. I text love the MLP. DLS is my favorite league. The spurs look really good in English Premier League just pissing off all of these tiny little Speaking of soccer, which I kind of just was, but I actually should finish what I was saying about hockey, the Stanley Cup fininal is between the Vegas Golden Knights in the Carolina Hurricanes. I'm gonna watch it because I'm a sicko who loves hockey. You should watch it because it's going to be incredible hockey. It's just the teams are not as obviously easy to root for. I think the Kyes some people like their man I don't want to get into it. I they're fine. They both I It's fine. We'll talk about it at length later. okay. There's you talk a lot Kanes being a mighty Ducks villain See, the Golden Kights strike me as. I mean And's why that's why I don't want to talk about it because that's not my take. My take was that in that Canadian series, that's why I wasn't really rooting for the Kannes. In this series, I am rooting for the Knes. You will not catch me rooting for the Golden Knights. Now it's complex and you are owed an explanation why. I won't be giving that to you today because we have a million things to get to and a game has not been played and we will get to talk about this series long end and I would like to move us on, but I'm just setting the table that starting Tuesday is game one of that series. It will be in Carolina They're the higher seed. And then the game one of the N NBA. Thank you. And then game one of the NBA finals will be in in San Antonio on Wednesday. Okaykay? That's just me trying to help a casual know when the games are so that they can tune in and watch them. A final has happened Speaking of soccer in the Champions League U PSG won again. They won last year and they won again this year Paris St. Germain. Cali Saint. Germain, I guess. U Bait Asenal in the in the worst way. Now Arsenal should be noted just one remier Lag So they are riding a high They go into the Champions League final, they score Pretty early, they open up the scoring U and then They it's one one for most of the game. cororrect. That sums that up as quickly as possible and it goes down one nothing at half and then PSG scored on a penalty early in the second half and then one one from there Okay, so then they go to U after one hundred and twenty minutes, it's one all. It's tied One one. and they go to penalty kicks And they get to the point in penalty kicks it's sudden death Isabella one guy will go and then another guy will go for the other team and you'll alternate And at this point Whoever misses next basically loses And u And then they did and then they did. I feel like Gabriel missed the deciding kick over the crossbar arrsenal, which I I just want all of this is to say, is that the most devastating feeling or type of anxiety in sports when it comes down to like do or die? penalty kicks. It's like too much pressure. It makes my palms sweaty. I feel it makes my the inside of my cheeks sweat. I get like Okay, I hope everybody's really cool about this. It's like too much for the Champions League final to be wriding on And a lot of times when you hear people soccer players talk about penalty kicks, they talk about them like you've just got a The goalie just has to guess The goal he has to guess is he going to go to the left or the right and you got to hope he guess is wrong. and it's all about trying to mess up their timing and getting the edge wherever you can. And so it's such a high risk Anything can happen and then when you miss It's so easy for these emotional fans who are now upset to immediately You are the reason why we lost And it's u I hate that And um, Sucks Does that suck the most out of sports Or are there more like kickers in college have it tough too They have it tough, but like there's there's also There's a lot more going on. There's twenty two people in the field that are still all doing something at that point. It still feels like a real football play. When they get to PKs and by the time they got to that fifth round and it's just like that last guy for Arsenal He has to put it in or they don't go on. likeike he knows that it all comes down to him at that Like they got to that spot and like he's just in the middle of the field He's not He has his clothes on. He just'soraked It's important to note. So she doesn't go, well, never watch in Championsag. like hey there was a player And so they made him strip down for something called PKs. I don't know what they were talking about. J just there's no one else do anything. It's all eyes on him He's the one taking the shot. notothing else affects it And yeah, you just got to put it on the net because if you put it over the bar, The goal he doesn't have to do anything. He put it over theall I just up b thum out of your ch for that. Well in the weirdest part about this story is that the day after the loss, the team Arsenal returned to England for their Premier League championship I can't win the soccer leag So I know I know and I know, but can I just say that basically they won their domestic league and then they the league that the championship series that runs concurrently with the season, but is based off of the It's just another thing that they could have won. They lose in the final, but then go home to celebrate with their home fans It's the same team so they The celebration is coming directly after the heart Breaking loss But the heartbreaking loss came right after the exciting win So it could either work out positive like let's forget that loss. at least we won the season. what if youose But Well ye, that then you wouldn't have a parade. so it wouldn't matter. So this is this weird situation where they're basically asking arsenal they're bringing all the arrsenal fans out Do they put them on floats like we do out here? Because I can't imagine that the guy who missed the goal wants to stand on a float surrounded by arsenal fans the day after ppointing them theoretically, I know it wasn't his fault. But what a tough spot to be in where you're like, yeah, let me just Mbe on floats. Maybe just get tomatoes hurled at me after a I mean, I'm sure the fans will be fine, but it's just it's like a mentally fascinating re moving on to the World Cup. they can get pissed off about the World Cup. Yeah. But to celebrate right after a big loss is so weird and strange Okay, a couple fun segments and quick headlines that fit together in a fun way that I wanted to make sure we got to here One of them, let's start with direct hits. So this weekend This weekend I heard through the grapevine, as one does. I open my Twitter. This is maybe Saturday. I open my for one last time before I go to bed. So at this point, the feed has been refreshed too many times And I'm starting to get stuff there that I go that this can't be real. And so what shows up on the four U, which is the part I'm always accidentally switched over to. You gott to remember to go back to the following because when you go to the four U You get stuff that you know isn't for you. And to that end top of my timeline, a tweet from Dave Portnoy and it said so Boston got hit by a meteor and I'm telling you I'm getting in bed. Okaykay. I don't know when he sent this, but it's finally getting to me. I've refreshed my timeline too much and I go Well, surely that's not true, but I don't have time to chase down a lead right now. It was further complicated by the fact that media ed In Boston media is how you say the thing that allegedly hit. It's also who would be reporting on it. The media on the media. And so it was difficult. I was like, I'll just deal with this tomorrow. I'll wake up tomorrow. Wellill'll go, wow, I can't believe that people thought a metedeor hit. And I wake up the next day And a meteor hit the Boston area I still don't really know what that means Apparently it was a small one. Aarently it didn't What a small one look like? I don't know and I haven't seen a picture of it but I've seen a bunch of videos that make me go that's Ai generated. That can't be real. That's where we're at right now, where I just don't know what to trust. I do know that there was a big boom U that just made me think of those Walmart guys, how's that family going over Sometimes they pop into my head and I go, whatever happened to the Rrizzler guysy? You don't know what. But anyway you distract yourself from the fact that a meteor just hit Boston. A meteor hit Boston. So I was like, whoa, direct hit. I thought they let us know when Detritus was hurtling towards the planet Usually they would go like keeping an eye on the meteor. Is it gonna to hit? This one just was like whoops. It was like it's like the universe thought it was going to pee and instead it pooped. Like it was like a surprise. And I don't like that that's happening and is everything okay We had a whole movie where we called upon Ben Affleck to save Boston from getting destroyed by a meteor and somehow we didn't deploy him on. Which one was that that was arrmagedd. that was was about That was Armageddon. But it wasn't about Boston Boston. It was going to kill everything. Yeah r Do Armen getting ranked in the top ten of Boston based movies? I they probablyably not? U Yeah. so according to WBZTV, which I grew up watching, so that has to be real news. If it's not real news anymore, donon't tell me, I guess Chief meteorologist, Eric Fisher, NASA said that, oh no, according to him, there was a loud boom that could be heard throughout the state on Saturday. And then NASA said the energy released when the meteor broke up was equivalent to about three hundred tons of TMT, which thanks, but I don't have that doesn't actually put it in context for me. I've never been around when three hundred tons of TMT goes off That's not also that much. It doesn't mean anything. It was around two eleven PM Eastern time And they heard the bang, rattled windows, startled pets, some homes shook And so Okay, a direct hit and it was not the only direct hit of the weekend. I noticed this to be a trend U Isabella, Do remember last week we talked about tarps off? The Staint Louis Cardinals have a section that seems to be growing and Brady, I assume still only involves men. I assume you would let us know if you've seen a gal with her tarp off. I will aggressively text you guys. Well I wouldn't use a picture if you're going to aggressively text just because I don't want to have to get forwarded up to HR. But okay. so there's the Tarps off fans in Sain. Louis, right? And they're playing the cubs at home. PCA, who we've heard about before, hits a home run, it goes up into the shirtless section and a shirtless guy catches it. The entire section starts chanting, throw it back because it's from the opposing team and you're a cardinals fan. I believe a tradition that was started by the Cubs, ironically enough. and they're chanting to him, throw it back, throw it back kind of a while and I think that's because this guy did not want to throw it back and we find out why He eventually decides, okay throws it back, the section cheers. I've seen a video now that was taken from that section follows the ball plunks a guy at the bottom of the field in a closer seat in the back of the, I don't know if it's his head or his back he's aub a Cubs fan, doesn't make it to the field. And the guy picks the ball up and says, Hey, thanks, and then keeps it Sere. Can you imagine getting plunked with a ball when you're not looking man home. Gracy. Throw it back. onlyn do it if you think you can. You know, mayaybe we don't And if you think you can't, there's no shame in going, could you throw this backack for me? I don't think I can. say you can't But it wasn't the only direct hit and it wasn't the only direct hit from a baseball that they weren't expecting to receive. This one on the field another direct hit BlueJ's outfielder Jazu Sanchez had to leave the game on Sunday that they played against the Oris. It was in Baltimore Brady, were you watching this live? He had to leave this game with a wrist injury after he was hit ball thrown from the outfield stands So if you watch the It appears as though he's going back and forth with a fan out there Um His glove is up and he sort of smushes it in what I would say is the universal sign for Let me Get that ball. I don't know If I were a child, he does the flapping of his glove and then h. And and that's probably what it was. And he turns around to face the ball game he's playing in. As he turns around, the ball comes out of the stands and hits him in his wrist He gets injured, he leaves the game. Now I've heard since that it was a kid confirmed I mean, everybody says like ten, eleven, twelve year old kid. Okay. And so in that case me os. I really do think that kid read the read the situation wrong It was an inc It was a mistake, but it's a mistake you forgive from a ten, eleven, twelve year old child when they're having a conversation with a professional ball player, probablyably their first time ever doing that And the ball player is interacting with them and does something with his glove that maybe makes it seem like he wants to play catch with you. I know that's to a grown adult, probably not what the guy was asking for. The kid maybe doesn't know that. So now am I anti Jesu Sanchez? 'cause he left the game and all tests say that he's fine Was he just being dramatic? I mean, my first thought was like, that's got to be a hell of like one in a million shots. Does the kid have an incredible arm If he's hitting you hard enough for it to hurt, mayaybe we should get him out of the stands and see if we can get him a contract somewhere. I'm not saying we should moie about that in nineteen ninety three. I'm not saying we should Rokie of the year in real life, but I do think that if the kid threw the ball at ten, eleven or even twelve H enough to hurt a professional ball player, granted he didn't know was coming M just get mayaybe we just get him a couple meetings. Maybe we just take a look at what the talent is, we put him on the mound and we take a look suggest it wouldn't hurt to try is all I'm saying And then last direct hit and the most useless and almost costly of them all Drake May put on something called May Day, the May Day softball cllassic. I think he's done Mayday before, but this was the first time they did this celebrity softball game. The rosters were stacked actually. There was an incredible amount of pretty famous people at this celebrity charity softball game. When it was originally announced, Mike Rabel was on one of these teams. I imagine I imagine he didn't go to this muchuch like one of the days of the draft. Um But it was like Drake May, Hunter Henry, Zedano Chara, who's a Boston Bruins legend Meghgan Keller who we all know from the Olympics, who also plays for the Boston Fleet, the aforementioned Dave Portnoy, who told us all about Weatherman, Dave Portnoy, who told us about the comet or meteor write, whatever that was. And that rife That Rife was there. now Con me if I'm wrong, M Rife Boston cononnection zero, right I didn't ask you about it. I didn't know I know spiritually to some he may give Boston Okay, that Rife. Not from Boston from Ohio Thank you. Matt Ri is from Ohio. He was playing in this softball classic at Polar Park in Worcester in Wstter And he ended up in a runundown between first and second and he dives into second base, which is being played by Patriots running back Ramandre Stevenson And like Ands not he's fine. All reports say that he's fine But if he wasn't funine You are gonna hear from me, mr. Eife. What are we doing? Everybody please, can we please? If you're caught in a pickle in a charity softball game This is why only Boston celebrities should be involved in stuff like that Be Matt Rife could be the ops. I don't know who Matt Rife's working for, But if he was tasked with going in there and taking out Ramondre Stevenson, that's the only reasonable explanation I would have for you hurting an athlete potentially in order to what? Wasn't he called out anyway It's a charity softball game, sir T this Mike Fel did attend D And I'm looking at Mike Vel running out on the field now He plays like that looks like a standing ovation for Mike Rel. Okay. and now what's going on? I mean, local crowd and only a rallying around him I get. I'm just putting it in context to the how the women in the story are being and it's I don't love. But it's, you know what? it It is what it is. Mike Rel did go. how dare I even suggest Um Okay, that brings us now to a fun new segment where people tried it You know, peopleeople are out here trying stuff and we're going to see if that works out for them, which reminded me of a of a movie quote, but I couldn't think of it. What could the movie quote possibly be? It's a bold strategy, C and let's see if it pays off for. Okay here we go. let's start with this. Daniel Jones with a bold strategy. He is dating a famous surgeon's daughter. Now when we first came up with this segment. The idea we thought that maybe this was the surgeon because this surgeon has done so many surgeries on athletes. We thought this was the surgeon who helped reconstruct his Achilles is what it was. But it was. It turns out it's not. So it's not his surgeon's daughter. But it is the daughter of a famous surgeon who has done Brady, let's run through them. He's done Tom Brady's ACL. He's done Joe Burrow's ACL. couple of other quarterbacks in a J. I think Aaron Rogers. I think Aaron Rogers was on that list. A million elbows across baseball. He did Terk Scooubles baseball He did Kobe Bryan's shoulder. This is doctor Neil Eitroge is like renowned. He's the West cooast guy. He is the surgeon for the premier athletes in the world. And so that again, not this and not the surgeons for the Daniel Joneses world. Iess Daniel Jones. There's been one guy who's been doing all of the Achilles lately. There's an Achilles guy Yeah the NBA Achilles guy is the same guy that did. So Daniel Jones isn't going to know scrub But he's not going to Ellitrohe. He is now officially has announced he's dating D. Neil Ellatroche's daughter, Nicole Ellatroche, who is her own person. She's a Duke volleyball player and an influencer. They made their relationship public in May. feeleels like this was this last week. They shared Ellatroashe shared a sweet birthday tribute with photos of them arm in arm at a horse race. And so those two are together. I Is he trying to get to the is he trying to have that doctor at a discount? Sould anything continue to happen for him? Does this feel ad is this a bold strategy by Daniel Jones. It's not a bad ally to have. Right.s you might as well assemble a team of doctors while dating. And again, there's no conflict of interest question mark, question mark if there would have been anyway. It's not his surgeon's daughter I mean, if Trevor Lawrence blows in ACO and he has to go to, the trash shll let him in Yeah, but if you're if you're his other surgeon, especially if his other surgeon has a daughter, are you not like what the fuck, dude? Could have dated my daughter Now you're just going to leave me for a new surgeon. Because you can't not go to your dad in law if they get married, I'm jumping ahead in the timeline. But you canntot go to him for surgery if you need a surgery in the future. I think that's a bold strategy and we'll see if it pays off for them. Then it comes to like, Do you want him doing certain? Once he becomes like once you get down the road and you know him well enough see I watched enough Gry's Anatomy to know that you are just allowed to operate on your closest family members and that it actually makes for a great episode of TV. So I'm rooting for that and Okay Pay it again. It's a bold strategy, Cotton, let's see if it pays off forem Bold strategy here, Brewers fans, two brewins f brewers, sorry, two Milwaukee brerewers fans are suing the Milwaukee brerewers This has been an ongoing legal battle that I'm interested to know your guys' thoughts on. A Wisconsin couple Annette and Matthew Flynn of Kanosha, Wisconsin areur suing The team's charity organization A they were denied the jackpot during a fifty fifty raaffle that was supposed to pay out over thirteen thousand dollars to the couple. They had the winning number team has a rule, which has since been changed and the rule was that you have one full inning, six outs. to get down to the table and claim your fifty fifty prize. The defendants or the plaintiffs, whatever the hell is the right word, the plaintiffs are alleging They they She was told she got there sixty six seconds too late sixty six seconds. She said she didn't hear it when it was originally announced. By the time she found out, she was scrambling to find where she was supposed to go in time. There's video of her security footage that they've pulled running through the belly of the stadium, trying to find this table in time. She even speaks on camera a security team member and asks them where to go and they give her bad directions. So she goes to the wrong place, which costs her time And then she runs up to the table, sixty six, a minute and six seconds late for this random arbitrary cutoff again to claim thirteen thousand dollars, which is a lot of money is also not the biggest fifty fifty, it's not like a record prize. Th those things can get way up there. I've seen them much higher in like the in like forties, fifties But this is still a significant amount of money that she is entitled to. Um, And the team has since changed the rules to allow you thirty days Claim your prize And so for all of those reasons, they've this is now in like the second or third court of appeals. They keep getting their their verdict. It was ruled against them. that because she was sixty six seconds late and it was clearly stated that she had to be there within one inning There is no case. and so the appeals courts keep holding upholding the verdict taking it further into more appeals courts because of all of this evidence that they have And I really, I don't know. after hearing it, I went like is kind of fucked up It's kind of fucked up to make people get there by an arbitrary amount that is way short in the pitchcock era. It's not a ton of time. What if I'm in the bathroom when you call fifty fifty? I still paid for my ticket and I still have the winning number. Unless it's 'cause you're giving it away at that game to somebody new Then if I get thirty days now, then the day was an arbitrary number anyway, and it was actually kind of discriminatory. What if I'm having what if I have mobility issues What if I can't get there that quickly? It's just a They immediately changed the rule and they have tape of her getting running around trying to get to this table. It's not like she was just going e I'll get it later. Yeah. She was trying to get to them So I' know like kind of feel like they deserve to be She had to get there in the sixth she had from the top of the sixth until the top of the seventh famously, there's a stretch. There's a lot going on. people go to the bathroom and make the lines Oh no topop the sixth to the top of the seventh. the stt. The deadline was at the top of the seventh Um two hour and fifty seven minute game Corbin Burns was pitching that day, Ws quick. There were no runs scored in the sixth inning I imagine this is really not a lot of time. It's not a lot of time and I just don't think P part of the stadium you're on to have to haul ass across Changed it from a minute For a one inning to thirty days pissed me off. That's where I went like, okay, well then give them their twelve thousand dollars, okay The reason it made it into this segment a bold strategy is because you are suing your team's charity organization. And that is a tough thing to probably say when you're a fan and you want to go to those games. You're like the people that are suing this place to high heavens because I didn't get my money. But I doformation. It's a fifty fifty. There is expected outcome of fifty cents on the dollar Like you have given the money that you plan on giving in. you like you're taking a loss based on the odds And there is a chance that you will get money back. That is the contract that you entered into. Exactly. but apparently the contract also said that you only had an inning and technically she agreed to that. So it's a bold strategy and we will see if it pays off for her U we have another one and That Oh sorry. No, that's perfect. actuallyct. just let me shut up and just play that It's a bold strategy, Cuon, let's see if it pays off forem Okay, and last one, this one's about Skip Bayless, a man that if you are new to sports You wonder why we talk about him at all. You go, what, this guy only says dumb stuff. and That was true for a lot of his career, he was on like the biggest sports television show for like a very long time. He was like iconically on this much maligned sports show for so long. He now I only ever run into his content on Twitter. I'm not really sure what he does and that's none of my business, but one thing I know he does, which was a bold strategy and we'll see how it pays off for him Tweeted yesterday He tweeted on Sunday six fifty three PM. Now, I don't know if you guys saw, but Indiana Fver, they were having like a bit of a they had a heated moment on their bench. Caitlin Clark, a star and Stephanie White, their head coach seemed to get into it a little. It was heated. Caitlin was swapped out for somebody else and it was obviously everyone online was talking about it because anytime Caitlin does anything, everyone online has to talk about it, whether they watched the game or not Skip Baylist Sunday night No surprise. Stephanie White, that's the head coach Stephanie White reportedly out after repeated in game clashes with Caitlin Clark Not saying White was wrong, but capapslock. You can't show up the face of the league on camera. Caitlin obviously wants a favorite of hers from Iowa, Jan Jensen But no way Jensen can coach both. Okay, there's so much in here.? There's so much in here. So apparently there was a tweet from a verified account on Twitter called ver update. They have a blue check mark, but they are not real And they tweeted out with a graphic that said per shams shams. It looked like ESPN font and everything. Skip just got got by it. and it suggested that they were firing their head coach and hiring her former head coach from her college team, Jan Jansen. and he just fell for it hookline and Sinker and tweeted like cool, she's fired and they're bringing but to go on to go. Well, I don't think she can coach both is like, Dh. I think it's crazy that anybody would have gone. What's she gonna coach both? Would not have been my first question. But he tweeted that and then all of the replies were like, just spoke with the team. No validity to this or someone was like Skip Aayis just hopped online to say this is happening like it's fact based in absolutely nothing. Did Skip Correct this Guess But again, that first tweet came at six fifty three PM on Sunday. nine twenty seven PM on Sunday, he said now they're saying, o my God Now they're saying reports are erroneous about Stephanie White The point is she won't last much longer clashing during games with Caitlin Clark, even if her issues with Caitlin are mostly valid. Nothing happened. And even if it did she probably wasn't wrong. What is he saying It's a bold strategy and I guess we'll see pays off for him U All right Let's take a break. Yeah. And when we come back, even though Chris isn't here Brady Question markark has put together a question mark. A list, I'm just looking for like some sort of an acknowledgement that yeah' got got stuff. We have a list of stuff that you can watch if you want to watch sports this week. I know I've already given you a bunch because you've got the college world series, the softball world series overver the course of those three days. You've also got the beginning of the NHL final and the or the Stanley Cup final in the NBA finals. Brady's got a list and we'll get to those on the other side of this break. It's casuals, we'll be right back Did you miss us Same. You know, as we are our podcast for casual fans, we like to put together a list of stuff you could watch if you find it in need to watch some sports this week. Chris is usually our fearless leader in this segment, but he's mad at us. so he's not here today. J justust kidding. he's in Australia on vacation. But it's funnier if we think that he's just somewhere harboring deep resentment Brady has been bold enough to stand up and put this together for us. Brady, what is the first thing people can watch? If they want to watch some what sports this week I realize mine might not be as fun as Chris'. I look for Australian sports and cricket and realize, I don't know what the hell I'm doing with these. We those to Chris. Sorry man firstirst thing you can watch NBA fininals, Game one from San Antonio Wednesday night, eight hundred thirty Eastern on ABC in the New York Kicks heading to San Antonio take on the spurs rematch of the nineteen ninety nine NB F. Yeah Isabelle, did you know that lastast time you guys were in the finals. it was against this team and you lost Why would you say that? And the game is on Wednesday. Oh your bits Brady, what else A This Saturday. We have the international friendly as the teams tune up for the World Cup. USA takes on Germany. That is Saturday at two thirty easastern That means it's Saturday, june sixth. J sixth. We are playing Germany. Oh my God It's not going to be weird at all Oh my god. U Okaykay and we've been doing Okay, I guess? Yeah, much more on the world of soccer coming up in our next episode. but the US. did win its first international friendly this past weekend. Senegal tuning up for the World Cup teeam looked pretty good. Christian good Christian didid he do well Christian Palisic had a goal and an assist right off the bat. The starters only played the first half and then they kind of swapped out for a whole new team to get everybody up to speed. We don't need to do that You know? I feel I feel like we need to just play our starters. I don think we need at any point swap to the maybe we just But what do I know? What else can we watch if we want to watch some sports Brady And starting Thursday on NBC and Pacock, you have the women's US Women's Op at Riviera. The golf major in Pacific Palisades, California Nelly Corda, your favorite win this tournam Okay Okay There's not a lot of follow ups.'s going go'sens tourn. It's just there's many things that are like women's open where I go like, are we talking tennis or are we talking golf? Yeah. And then I got lost in the fact that tennis is happening, but again, where What time it is there? Like right now, I think Osaka is playing. Yeah Sabalenka. so we can't We just can't tell you about it because I don't really know what happens U And so that's, but there is tennis. Watch tennis too if you want to. The thing that gets wild is that the US. women's open the US open for golf and for tennis are spelled differently It what in that officially stylized, one of them has dots in US and one of them does not. And I I will never for the life of me Remember which is which? orr you know what? I will never need to remember which. I was gonna to say, can I just can I just take that off your plate? That's not something I think you ever have to stress about that like Which one has these silent markers that don't benefit anyone in the podcastace space where things are said out loud and it won't no one's ever going to know Unless you work for the New York Times, which correct if I' wrong, don't think is in the plans for you I see Pablo lost the sports Emmy, won the Pulitzer Lost a sports Emmy Like so at least I'm still better than him in one specific way. You know what I mean? Yeah I saw that best stududio analyst for the sports Emmies was a dubious Who did it go? I didn't even see I went to A ROD Who is nominated? who is nominated? I don't think it matters who elsein. I think it does because I just part of me wants to know if any It doesn't matter you're right, A R. Now I'm gonna have to look at. B studio analyst Is he given a lot of insight? I'm look, I'm biased. You're not going to get an honest answer for me. I'm never going to go. I love A Rd. but I just it's not are we is he he's not electric I doesnt do it for me? Greg Olson winning best game analyst over Tom Brady was Yeah deserved He got he got something. He didn't get the bigger job or the bigger paycheck, but He got the recognition, which I do believe he deserved. Let's wrap up the podcast. Hey, this has been Casuals first episode the week We're gonna hit with another one later in the week. We will talk more basketball then We'll talk Stanley Cup fininal then we'll talk a little bit more soccer then. Until then, let this hold you over. Watch softball. Hang out Go your teams.
