Eating a five pound main lobster at. No, I don't think. And that's just not part of polite society. I just don't think you can I did share it with the people around it. Okay. well, then I stand corrected. If you're at a ball game and somebody goes, you want some of this and it just flops over. It's the Cavves. And that starts Tuesday. So tonight when this episode drops. at Madison Square Garden because the cabs beat the pistons won twenty fivears ninety four in game seven of the conference semifinal Sunday, that was crazy. That game was not necessarily worth Watching pretty disappointing for the pistons. They were at home, yeah? Yeah. Rudah Just brutal. But that's over now and it's on to the Nick calves. So game one, like I said, Tuesday night at eight If the Kicks win this series, they would be heading to the NBA finals for the first time since ninety nine. I'm going to throw. That's such a long time. We thought the world was maybe going to end in the next year. We thought the next year was going to be the last. So pretty cool that it wasn't Um How you feeling? They released their schedule. I mean, most of it already came out They leaked all the important games in advance, but every team does their own little social media video. Um Anything stand out as good to you guys this year? I don't feel like I People like the chargers a lot. I didn't like the chargers because the chargers win for effort Can you tell exxplain what it was explain basically quickly the idea veryy briefly because what the hell is So it's just every every team makes a video in whatever theme they want with whatever, they can do anything with it, but it basically just announces the like a trailer who they're going to play. Yeah. this week one, we're at the Steelers. Wek two we're at the And so this is they just all have their own very specific way that they do it. and people really liked them a couple years in a row. and then now it's become this I feel like the hype was big this year and I didn't care about any of these. The chargers went and produced the whole thing like within Halo which I get like I am your target demo. anyyone who is in college in two thousand two, you're trying to Speak to that person, but like if you've never played Halo, like we're talking about a dated like twenty year old video game using the characters within Halo and none of it was like You can see football players for the most part.s just confusing as hell. probably tried really hard working hard at it. Yeah. and they had a lot of good little Easter eggs in there. Like they mentioned Dononna Kelsey's home remodel for their their thing against the the chiefs. Now it's just interesting, Brady because I saw that what you rated as your best was the Colts and there' no football players in that and that's a twenty year old reference as well as they used a Simpsons Fake Simpsons intro for their twenty year old reference, but also a ten year old reference and also a current reference because they are still making episodes of Simpsons. Yeah people are still playing halo. So Yes. Maybe this one just resonated more to me personally. I think that's what it is. Chris, you think that's what it is. you get in the hint that maybe that's it that's the reason why I elected it the most also. So the Titan the Titans had one of the most memorable ones ever. couple of years ago, they went down to what is the what is the street in Nashville Broadway Pro Yeah, I think so Nur. They went back to it this year and they went down to did Man on the Street on Broadway and someone was just approaching random strangers and connecting them to celebrity lookalikes from various teams U like they found an old British man and they were like, Jerry Jones, Are you Jerry Jones? And you could tell they kind of looked kind of like the right guy? Barely erarely but enough to do it. The Fernando Mendoza one actually looked like it was a kid who looked like Fernando Mendza. The big Dom thing made me laugh when he goes, D because I got a brother named Don and then it cuts him off and it's like,. Fine funny, I guess. spepeaking of Fernando Mendoza, the Raiders had Mendoza and Kurt cousins do the Step brrothers Again, I get it, millennial made, so millennial references, but Step brrothers. went How many years ago did that come out? What's going on with the front office? What's going on with the entirely AI generated mascot Zoom meeting. What I what was whose idea was this Why did this feel worth making We were worried that they were going the teams were going to use too much AI and they're like, we're going to use all the AI. It was all AI. And then they have these mascots chatting in the in the text part of the Zoom call, which is like Yeah because mascots can't talk, but if you're going to AI generate it, You might as well just give him a fake voice or something likeike what are we watching a Zoom call of them typing to each other? It was like, what the is I'm so upset with them. Also by the way, the Cardinals underdog in all seventeen games this season. They have not favored to win a single football match. They have the worst I've never seen a quarterback much respected Jacobi Beret But I've never seen a worse quarterback hold out and a team be like their season hinges on Jacobbe Brissetes holdout and him trying to get paid more or just not showing up. I'm like, You will put yourself in a really bad spot, man I also hated the Jaguars one becausecause their whole bit was like Trevor Lawrence sitting in a barber's chair or whatever. And then it was such, the reveal was such an obvious crooked wig It was like clearly not on properly. You could see the lace on the back at the base of his neck and at the front on his hairline. It was just and everybody was like, oh, it's real. And then he went out on the practice field and they said, No, it's real. He still Wh would he be on the practice field with a wig on? And I said because they want to sell you this bit for at least one more day promise you, there's no way he cut his hair. And then like the next day, he was like, T he, JK y'all still got my hair. It's like then what the hell was the point of that That's like when remember when John Stamos? For his dear friend who had been diagnosed with cancer. What's uncle What's his name? Was it the Kanus? So he would like live in Washington state and just drive up, go to like half an hour of practice and drive back. He like did not w to be bothered Um He's in trouble again Now the reason he had been brought up is because I told you that the Golden Knights fired their coach with like eight games left in the season and they brought in John Tortarella And he's basically on a prove it or lose it sort of a contract where it's only through the end of this year. If he does well, you could imagine they would keep him on as the coach, but if not, they might just get a new coach next season U after They won. they clinched their series. They beat the ducks in game six five to one. After that game, John Tarterella did not open the dressing room to the media. And he did not speak with reporters Okay. So he was just like, now we're not doing media. Again, this is after they O. So the ducks were eliminated The Golden Knights are moving on and they do not make the team. available to the media man In a release, the NHL said that the imposition of these penalties, which were a one hundred thousand dollars fine for John Tortorella himself And then they stripped the Golden Knights of their second round pick in this year's draft. Oh wow. Insane Do that? crazy. Now the NHL said the imposition of these penalties comes after previous warnings were issued to the club regarding their compliance with the media regulations and other associated policies. This is not the first time that they've done something like this and the The league has been like, listen, you this is part of our collectively bargained agreement This is part of the deal and if you don't, you will be punished John Totorerello was like, donon't care, I guess. And then they punished him. It was a big I mean, this was shocking when this was announced on Friday. Pe were like, a draft pick We're losing a draft pick Epecially because the narrative don't have a r either. So this was their highest traffic I mean, really brutal. What I saw What I saw was The Golden Knights issued a statement on social media that basically was like, we saw We're aware and we have no other comment. It wasn't like after the league's decision, we've decided It said we saw, we're aware. That's it from us. Yeah It's like, okay. So doubling down, I guess. Now the Golden Knights will face off against Colorado Avalanche In the Western conference fininals, G game onene is Wednesday at eight Eastern on ESPN Um, Just sort of something interesting to keep an eye on, I guess. shocking Go back to that statement that they put out on Social said, we will have no further comment. Does that feel like that the organization is angry at the league or the organization is angry at John Tortorella? Well, I don't think if they were angry at John Tortarella, they would say as much at this point.. But I do think that like What's concerning to me online was seeing a lot of fans not seem to understand that like this is part of the CBA. This isn't just like you do media because you want to. This isn't where you can hold your personal grievances against media in general against the NHL media. It's like it's part of the deal We agree upon doing it. So I saw people going like, I wouldn't do the media either because I don't trust the media in twenty twenty six, which like whatever your opinions on that are That's fine and you're entitled them and there' certainly been things. but it's just like this isn't this is separate from that. This isn't like John Tordorella can't be some sort of folk hero because he won't Give the interviews he's literally required to. it's part of it. you're not at war. You're playing a hockey game and you won the hockey game. So actually You have to come meet with us and talk to us. So I imagineed the size of the fine and the docking of a draft pick was to be like, noobbody else think that this is Nobody else try this. It's not going work out in your favor We'll see what happens. Can't wait til his next media availability. No I know not to do that. Remember when I had the interview for the N head coaching position. So it's like you can do there's a balance of like this kind of show. You know, do you ever feel disisband as a team so I can get back to caring about something else living life. you know, it's sometimes your sports when they do so bad, you're just like just if they came out And they were just like, they're gone. We're not doing anything anymore. You'd be like ve wow. I could watch it like the NBA. I love the NBA and where it's I don't have like an exact team that I cheer for, but I can just enjoy. games and you know, I'm a Predator's fan for hockey, but it's like I can I like following storylines Yeah. So it's like when you got a sport that you're not You know, baseball, I don't really have some exact team that I'm rooting for. I can root for, you know, players and you can just enjoy like storylines. You just watch it for the sport of it instead. I mean the letting it control your emotions the way we do with The Stanley Cup is what's interesting. I want Connor McDavid to win. so I always root for of the Oolars and then I want This year with Montreal I was just I just did a show at their arena like And Canada hasn't won since nineteen ninety three. So there's something that's kind of fun to be like, I'm kind of rooting for Montreal just because of that story Yeah. They haven't had ay with Buffalo though Buffalo hasn't success in the postseason in a while and there In hockey? Yeah, but that's America. Yes, that's true. So it's like that wouldn't it's that is true. It could be, but it's the Montreal the whole country. Yeah, yeah. like the bill That's when you root for the bills in the football in NF where you're like you do want them to win because you're like, yeah, that would be amazing I'm just America first So I America first. No no Talk to me about what happened with Jared Curtis. You went on college game day. Yeah. I don't know any of this works anymore. BeCa the first time you and I met I told you, I was like, I'm really not a college sports. It's not really my area, which is your favorite. Yeah, that's the Northeast because I learned that when I was when I moved up here. it was like if Rutgers was doing good, you could see sometimes. I remember one year Rutgers was doing really good and everybody kind of pops up and they're kind of watching college football. But it was shocking Yeah It's not a part of the fabric of the culture yeah, it's very pro. And would because I would tell people like back when we do a comedy and we're running around and I'd be like, Hey, I'm recording the Vandy games so don't tell me. And I remember Comedian Justin Silver, you know, he goes, I don't even know what that means. like so you almost just didn't have to tell anybody because they're like, I don't what are you talking When would it come up and how How would it get spoiled for? Soner was like a breath of fresh air when he moved here. Be we could talk college football. Well that was college football. Plays NCAA all day Yeah and So you went on colloege Game dayay and you said You basically said that you wanted him to come to Jared Curtis to come to was he was local. Yeah. and he was going to Georgia. Yeah. And he was the number one quarterback in in his senior class last year And so I said, whyy don't you come to Vandy? you know? And like we'll be friends and, you know, just I mean, it's you do it and you're just it was you said it? Just set it I remember asking like, Kirk Herb Street, like, I was like in I'm like, canan I even do this? Kirk's like, I don't think I'm mad at He because there's no ro anymore. Like none of this matter. It's like Wild West. It Wild West. You can do that. You can just say this. You can say you can say do you want to role in a movie? Yeah and then You can put him in your movie. He's in thener He's in the breadwuninner. And that's part of like an NIL deal that he signed with. It's So they do So the NIL does a collective. So they do it's not with the school. It's like a fund that's outside the school. So that's what every school does. And so that's that that fund, the collective, that's what pays the college kids for the names an image in likeness And so but you have access to every I think access to all the athletes they go there. And so yeah, that's where it comes into play. wild Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, it's a new world. I was excited to do something different That's what the movie wasn't why he came. I don't know. No, no, was I think I've done it twice. First time was a little stressful. This time was very. It was at home. It was in Nashville, was Vanderbilt. And after this time it was like You know, I think it's a matter of how much you think they know who you are when they when you when you go and you're like, I don't know if they know who I am. And so then you feel like you got to do it. on show but what we did the first time is I was like, when we went through the picks, I was like, I was just trying to make a joke on every pick. And so this one was the same thing. Just like when they came to me was just like just have a quick Like joke You know, like it was like when BYU was a pick and I picked BYU because I was like, this is just a business plan because I have four shows in Utah. I'm going BYU. And it was like you would just try to do something like that. I don't need to get into the ins and outs of it. likeike let me just do a quick one They're all doing that But I did like when Tim did Chalamay. I was going to say you didn't pull his Chalay, which there was like people on either side. Some people loved that and other people were like, that was he clearly produced that. like he wasn't I loved it because I thought that's a guy that you're like, you know, he's an actor. so you don't know really much, you know, it's like sometimes with these, you know, like if Tom Cruise went and did that, you would be like You watched college football dude Like that's crazy. L And you know this much about it? Yeah. And like Timy Sia, I think felt like a very real like kind of person. Yeah. It wasb believable.elievable. We've seen him at basketball games.
