O God make speed to save us . O Lord, make haste to help us . My Lord is my light and my salvation I love my shall I think I'm beginning My heart shall not be offer ed against me Have my heart of the Lord and God to my word I sing that I need dwell in the hearts of the Lord To be hold of fab ric of my law For in the day of tomorrow we shall hide in the shit . In the secret gra ce of this one , shiny heart me for me offer ing this dwelling an ordination with great cycles I will say not take you to it to glory to the father That this evening may be holy, good , and peaceful. Let us pray with one heart and mind . As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise now and for ever . Amen . Psalm ninety seven followed by Psalm ninety eight You Lord are most high over all the earth . The Lord is King , let the earth rejoice , let the multitude of the isles be glad , clouds and darkness are round about him . Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne . Fire goes before him , and burns up his enemies on every side his lightnings lit up the world , the earth saw it and trembled , the mountains melted like wax at the presence of the L ord , at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth , the heavens declared his righteousness , and all the peoples have seen his glory . Confounded be all who worshipped carved images and delight in mere idols . Bow down before him all you god s . Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced . Because of your judgments, O Lord , for you Lord are most high over all the earth . You are exalted far above all gods . The Lord loves those who hate evil . He preserves the lives of his faithful and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light has sprung up for the righteous , and joy for the true of heart . Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous , and give thanks to his holy n You, Lord, are most high over all the earth . Let us pray Most High and Holy God, enthroned in fire and light, burn away the dross of our lives and kindle in us the fire of your love, that our lives may reveal the light and life we find in your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ . Amen . The Lord has made known his salv ation . Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things. His own right hand and his holy arm have won for him the victory. The Lord has made known his salvation. His deliverance has he openly shown in the sight of the nations . He has remembered his mercy and faithfulness towards the house of Israel . And all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God . Sound praises to the Lord all the earth. Break into singing and make music Make music to the Lord with the lyre , with the lyre and the voice of melody , with trumpets and the sound of the horn, sound praises before the Lord the King . Let the sea thunder and all that fills it, the world and all that dwell upon it, let the rivers clap their hands, and let the hills ring out together before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth . In righteousness shall he judge the world, and the peoples with equity . The Lord has made known his salvation . Let us pray . Lord God, just and true, you make your salvation known in the sight of the n ations . Tune the song of our hearts to the music of creation, as you come among us to judge the earth through our Saviour Jesus Christ . Amen The first reading is from the book of Exodus, beginning at chapter thirty four, verse one . The Lord said to Moses cut two tablets of stone like the former ones, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you broke. Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sin ai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. No one shall come with you, and do not let anyone be seen throughout all the mountain, and do not let flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain . So Moses cut two tablets of stone, like the former ones, and he rose early in the morning, and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tablets of stone. The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name the Lord . The Lord passed before him and proclaimed , The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation , forgiving iniquity in transgression and sin, yet by no means clearing the guilty, but visiting the iniquity of the parents upon the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation . And Moses quickly bowed his head towards the earth and worshipped. He said, If now I have found favour in your sight, O Lord, I pray , let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance. He said, I hereby make a covenant . Before all your people I will perform marvels such as have not been performed in all the earth or in any nation . And all the people among whom you live shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you . Gods love was revealed among us, so that we might live through Jesus. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God . Everyone who loves is born of God, and Whoever does not love does not know God . For God is love . In this the love of God was revealed among us that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him . In this is love not that we loved God, but that He loved us , and sent His Son to be the expiation for our sins . Beloved, since God loved us so much , we ought also to love one another . For if we love one another, God abides in us , and God's love will be perfected in us. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit , as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever . Amen . God's love was revealed among us , so that we might live through Jesus. The second reading is from the gospel according to Mark, beginning at chapter 1, verse 1: The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God . As it is written in the prophet Isaiah, see, I am sending my messenger ahead of you . You will prepare your way. The voice of one crying out in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord, make his path straight . John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, he ate locusts and wild honey. He proclaimed, the one who is more powerful than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Sp irit . In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan . And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart, and his spirit descending like a dove on him, and a voice came from heaven. You are my son, the beloved . With you I am well pleas ed . And the spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness for forty days, tempted by Satan, and he was with the wild beasts , and the angels waited on him . Your salvation is near to a those who fear that the body may dwell in our heart . The O salvation is near to those who feel like I made my mercy and tooth have met me Righteousness and peace have kissed each other . Like delight my Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit . Your sal vation is near those In the heavenly kingdom, the blessed have their dwelling place, and their rest for ever and ever . My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord , my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. He has looked with favour on his lowly servant . From this day all generations will call me blessed . The Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. He has mercy on those who fear him , from generation to generation He has shown strength with his arm , and has scattered the proud in their conceit, casting down the mighty from their thrones, and lifting up the low ly . He has filled the hungry with good things , and sent the rich away empty . Servant Israel to remember his promise of mercy , the promise made to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children for ever . Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever . Amen . In the heavenly kingdom the blessed have their dwelling place and their rest for ever and ever united in the company of all the faithful and looking for the coming of the kingdom. Let us offer our prayers to God, the source of all life and holiness . Merciful Lord, strengt hen all Christian people by your Holy Spirit, that we may live as a royal priesthood and a holy nation, to the praise of Christ Jesus our Saviour . Lord have mercy . Bless our bishop and all ministers of your church, that by faithful proclamation of your word , we may be built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, into a holy temple in the Lord . Lord have mercy . Empower us by the gift of your Holy and Life-Giving Spirit, that we may be transformed into the likeness of Christ, from glory to glory Lord have mercy . Give to the world and its peoples that peace that comes from above , that they may find Christ's way of freedom and life . Lord, have mercy . Hold in your embrace all who witness to your love in the service of the poor and needy , all those who minister to the sick and dying, and all who bring light to those in darkness. Lord, have mercy . Touch and heal all those whose lives are scarred by sin and pain , that raised from death to life in Christ, their sorrow may be turned to eternal joy . Lord, have mercy . Remember in your mercy those gone before us who have been well pleasing to you from eternity . Preserve us who live here in your faith, guide us to your kingdom, and grant us your peace at all times . Lord, have mercy . Hasten the day when those who fear you in every nation will come from east and west, from north and south, and sit at table in your kingdom. Lord have mercy And so we give you thanks for the whole company of your saints in glory, with whom in fellowship we join our prayers and praises . By your grace may we like them be made perfect in your love . Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honour and power be to our God for ever and ever . Amen . Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servant's grace by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the unity . Keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities, through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spir it, one God, now and for ever . Amen . As our Saviour taught us, so we pray our Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name , your kingdom come , your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us to day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us . Lead us not into temptation but , deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever . Amen . The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore . Amen. Let us bless the Lord . Thanks be to God
