I thought, is it actually possible to do it? And then in twenty twenty five I attempted it for twenty thousand pounds. What did come out on top at the end? What came out last year? It sil staying. was It was gone f. It was f It was gone f ye.. And on the other end of the spectrum. The other end was I think it was Vabus To be fair, a day in Vegas is rough anyway. Yeah. Hello Harry. Hello Ey. We are back again with another bumper episode. We've got a lot to come today, including a very special guest who's done quite a bit of travelling watching the F one. Yeah, he's literally just landed back from the Canadian Grand Prix, which isn't as long a flight as you might think it is, Still pretty impressive. It's still a fair whack, we'll give him it. So we're going to speak to him shortly. but Good race at the weekend, I thought. Wasn't it? Very exciting K me on sny when Four in a row now, fast ever driver to get his first four Grand Paris victories consecutively. That's pretty. It's a complicatedly worded statistic. It is That's quite interesting. Yeah. is. It's quite good to know. We were robbed, though, weren't we with that retirement from George Russell. What could have been? Yeah? Do you think They might' have come together though if George Russell had stayed in the race. Looking a little bit hairy, wasn't it? Nippyart. If I was Toto, I'd be a little bit nervous at that point But gave some other drivers some good results. How good was that fight for second and third? It was I feel like I got, maybe I shouldn't say this transported back to twenty one a bit where it was like Hamilton Verstappen going out it It was such good racing and a Ferrari in second is pretty cool. Really impressive, very happy for Lis, but also very happy for Max as well because I feel like that car is finally coming together and he's able to show us what he can do, which we know a lot McLarens Not so good. bit of a nightmare weekend for them. startarted on the wrong tyres and Osckapashi decided to dive bomb Alex Albon. I mean, actually Albon probably had the worst weekend out of anybody. Really quQite unlucky. I've never I think it wass probably the most unlucky weekend I've seen for a driver in quite some time, having obviously hit the groundhog in practice and that rather ruined his weekend to begin with. and then Oscar Piastri making it even more just attacked him. I don't know why it makes me really sad when Williams don't do well I don't know why I just feel like they's such an underdog on the grid and I just really want them to do so well and then it doesn't happen and I feel sad for them. Well, I think considering they had such a good year last year and now they're kind of underperforming. But I tell you did one in that midfield though. Franco Colapinto, sixth place brilliant result for him. He's got a bit of a role at the moment, I think. Love that from him. Shame butard Lindblad didn't start the race. I feel like he could have got that P six or a good result if been able to start it. The whole start of that race was kind of wild, wasn't it? Really? Well I took us by surprise. I was ready to go. lights out. no, no lights are still on. Th we and then the notice came up there was going to be another formation lap, which I felt was a bit late in the day because it was all very confusing. Did we know what actually went wrong at the start? Well, so the first one was Limblad had obviously gotten stuck in gear and messaged and was waving and because they had this big engine startup sequence now is enough time for people clock that. And then then they obviously decided no extra formation lap And then and then that soort they went around again and then and then obviously we managed to get going, but yeah, bit all over the place. a little bit M for good grand Prix, one of the best of the year I would agree with that. Should we find out what the other people are talking about? Should we get some hot takes? I think so, let's do it. Let's do it. As usual, we've had your hot takes in and loads are reacting to the Russell and Tonelly battle off course they are. Yeah, Adam has kicked things off with I think regardless of what happened to George, Kimmy would have won anyway Yeah, I do see that given Kimmy's sort of last few races, but equally Russell really wants it He does. And you know what? we'll never know. but I Kimy's on an absolute roll at the moment, but remember who who won the sprint Who pole position, who was ahead in qualifying? not by much, but it was George Russell But they are think I think qualifying they were split by just over half a tenth of a second, which is absolutely nothing. But the fact is George never really pulled away massively in those first, you know thirty laps of the race Antonelli was right there with him all the time. So I get the fact that actually, if Antonelli had been able to get in front, could have starts to extend that lead, was able to go look a little quicker even behind George. That's what will be slightly worrying I think for George Russell. but I still think In the long run over the course of what if we get sixix day eight laps, I still think Russell might have come out on top on that one. So I don't think Kimmy would have won anyway I don't know though. I just think mentally Russell wants it more Yeah Sometimes when they have that mentality, that's when they make mistakes because they don't keep their cool Whereas Antonelli's kind of chilling. Well, that's what I for the same reasons I kind of think the opposite though because I think because Antonelli is much younger nineteen years old, seconde year in Formula one, mayaybe he's more prone to some mistakes She didn't make No no So maybe maybe Adam you're right. And that leads us on actually quite nicely to forormula Alex who has said Kimmy Aonelli is already Champion elect, which I mean, forty three points ahead after five rounds. He'll hold on to that until at least Barcelona So regardless of what happens in Monaco, he'll still be champion after that, which is pretty pretty impressive at this stage. It is impressive, but it is also very early on in the season. lotots of things can change. Am I right if he does win the championship, he is the youngest championship winner. He would be.. I think it is still a long way. Remember last year and it looked like it was going to be one of the two McLarens then suddenly Piastri was out in front Piastri fumbled. Lando Norris starts leading the way. Reliability plays a factor. Max Verstappen came out of nowhere Fr one hundred and four points back And was within touching distance in Abu Dhabi. So you cannot call this right now. Next one we've got James Rosster. Kimmy is way better at wheel to wheel fighting than we could have dreamed. Now this is interesting because James Rosseta is actually a driver. And for those who know their Formula E, he's actually one of the commentators on Formula E. He used to be an F one test driver So he knows his racing and he's been in charge of the whole new formulac that they're doing.. So the fact he said that I think is and I love the fact that he' said in a hot takeakes. I thank you very much like. Yeah Kimmy way better at Whilt fighting than we could have ever dreamed. I think that's one of the main takeaways from the weekend is just every corner it felt like. And there was that incident wasn't there in the sprint race in term one where George had the inside. Kimmy went around the outside. You could argue it either way. should George have given him more space becausecause Kimmy ultimately had to run off the road and then rejoined in a sort of disjointed manner Kimmy knows he's going against his teammate for the lead. so should you factor that in as well. I loved it. Don't want that to stop and I don't want Mercedes to stop them racing. But I think it underlined how both of them are so razor shp when it came to racing wheel to wheel corner by corner and if we get even a half of what we got there in We'm not going to get it in Monaco, But you know in Barcelona going forward, we're in store for an amazing year because Mercedes are ahead now of the rest of the field We don't want one runaway. We want two Aolute lions fights for it, I think. And I kind of agree with that in the sense that he is so young He is up there, I mean, he's on the podium with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen and he's a teenager and he's going up against his teammate, W to Weel. So in that sense, yeah, I agree. it's really impressive to see him fighting the way he is. And like you said, I hope he continues. It's not being afraid toort take it to your older more experienced teamm. Yeah. So fair play to him. he's doing very well indeed U Matthew next up Ferrari will be able to fight and win with a slightly better engine in the next few races You were explaining the whole engine thing to me? Well, yeah, it's a bit confusing because there's this thing called Auo, which is basically a catch up mechanism for the engine suppliers of Formula O that the FIA have allowed for those who are bit off or quite far off, they're going to get a little bit of help. And Canada was the cutoff point for the first kind of test of where everybody is at in terms of distance to the out and out leaders, which I think is pretty clear a Mercedes. So it actually stands for additional development opportunities nice because we know former one loves loves a what do you call that? a dualonym acronym? that's it. they love an acronym. So Honda I think are pretty clear there at the back and what it depending how far you are off You might be allowed one upgrade this year to the engine and one upgrade next year or two this year and two next year. You'll also get a financial benefit as well, but not it's not a complete freeh out of cash because some of it you will have to pay back over the course of the next couple of years and that will come off your cost cap. So that will even out But Ferrari say that And it's widely believed that they actually have a better chassis than Mercedes, but their engine isn't quite as good. So even if they're two percent off of Mercedes, they will still be allowed a little extra help with their enginine. So to come back to the points, maybe that is what Ferrari need, just a bit more power, which is what Louis Hamilton was calling for throughout the Grand Prix because on a straight line They don't have as much pace. corners they' good. straight line no May Maybe we could see a Lewis Hamilton and a Charle lecler with a slightly more fine tuned engine start battling for race wins I don't think that that's very fair. I think just build a better engine to start with I mean, I said it. I think the reason it's happened, I kind of agree with you, but the reason it's happened, if we cast our minds back to the last big engine change, which is twenty fourteen when we shifted to hybrid for the first time Honda again, were so far off. And a lot of the teams were struggling It was it wasn't the best look for Formula One, but also No one wants to see a team peddaling around at the back so far off. you know, it's not really enjoyable to watch, I think. So I would rather have something like this to just allow them to get more into the fights. I don't think it's gonna suddly capult them from the back to the front, but it will just allow them to be more in the fight. And I'm okay with that Okay, as long you're not I don't love that because I think Formula One is more than just the racing, it's the whole engineering development, making incredible high tech ars Yeah. So you can't have a freebie. No, but it's so it's not like you're suddenly if you get catapulted to the front, there's going to be kind of several review periods throughout the year. So if you' this far off now then you might get then you'll start improving, but then if you do improve, you'll get less help. So I think the review periods are we just we just had went to Canada, then we're going to look again after Hungary And then we're gonna have another look after Mexico So it should hopefully balance itself balance itself out throughout the year. If one improves then it will be slightly hemed back a bit and then it'll get another go In an ideal world, that's how it works. But this is Formula One. So someone's not gonna be You never know. You litally never know. and someone will always be annoyed about something. Me. Okay, next one, Tony says, Perez is the goat Well, I think clearly Tony's a Sergia Perez fan. You'd be forgiven for for thinking where's Perez been the last few races because they're at the back in the cadillac. But you know what? I've sort of been watching it and I had to do these driver ratings for the BBC Sort website after every race. And Perez is right up there. I think I gave him a seven, really. And okay, the Canada race he had to retire because the suspension failed. Miami, absolutely workiped the floor with Atery Botass and that's his main comparison, right? Absolutely. For Cadillac If you're a driver, youve got to be better than your teammate. And if you can getet in it with the Aston Martins and pick them off because they are slightly better in rac drim compared to their quality at the moment. He has been doing that. Perez Spotass has left him for dust, has been fighting with Fernando Alonzso And again, in Canada, same thing. Boss ass couldn't get laps together in qualifying and was finished last in the race So for that reason, I kind of think Perez is on a bit of a roll at the moment and is having as good of a season as he can so far when you're in a team at the back And I'm hearing there's a lot of sniffing around Perez to be promoted to a slightly higher midfield team potentially for next year. He's looking around for that and other you know, he brings a lot of money, brings a lot of experience. So I think I think he could be if he carries on this way, if Cadillac don't improve, he might find himself in like a Williams or a Has maybe going forward. Okay, Perez Love that. I think actually that links nicely again to Ashley's final hot take, which is the steward diving through the wholeo deserved driver of the day because this there was a steward who came on the track to get that bit of carbon fiber from Sergio Perez's Cadillac Olympic level diving through through the hole in the wall. Pretty incredive. Yeah. prettyt incredive. He wins dri for today. He does. And you know what the students do they work for free, they volunteer their time. and all the marshalls around the track. so they do they do such a brilliant job, but always good when theyve got a bit of flare as well. I love that. Nice. Now he attended every single race in twenty twenty five after setting himself a very unique challenge. To tell us more, the man himself is here to join us. Hello. Hello hello. Thankk you for having me. No, thank you so much for coming. Thankk you for fitting us into your incredibly busy schedule. You've just touched down from Canada, haven't you? I touch about two hours ago. Straight here. prettyretty hard past stuff Can you explain to us what exactly it is you did last year because it's pretty insane. I can. so I'm a massive F one fan and all my life I've always wanted to travel to every race in a season I never thought I'd actually try it until I'm retired or win the lottery or something like that. but in twenty twenty four I thought, is it actually possible to do it? without leaving my full time job and also do it with the savings that I've amassed over sort of my ten year career so far And I thought it's probably just about possible. So lots of spreadsheets later, started booking stuff up And then in twenty twenty five I attempted it for twenty thousand pounds whilst also working full time And that's what I did last year. I actually went slightly over budget. I spent twenty thousand five hundred in the end, but that was all in That was flights, accommodation, the lot, tickets, everything So I was pretty happy with that and it was by far the best year of my life. It was fantastic. So I'm very glad I took the leap and went for it. So you did every race on that budget. We'll forive the five hundredud quid, but also only not not taking any more annual leave than you were given from your job, is that right? Very slightly more. So I've given twenty eight days and I took thirty one and a half. So I took a few days unpaid Fine, okay. So I went slightly over on that as well. So basically, I failed my challenge completely. that was that Were there any like weird sort of, you know, peopleople love to work from home day now. so were you sort of working from home in an airport in China or something to make it work or any that kind of scenario,? So like between, for example, Bahrain and Saudi, I worked from Saudi for that week. Luckily, I can work from abroad. There's no work from abroad policy at where I used to work What did you do? You't have to name the company. I did data analysis. o. spreadsheet's your thing. Spadsheets is my thing exactly. course you nailed. Yeah, that's where the numbers all came together. So yeah, there were a few weeks of that in between Qatar and Abu Dabi as well. But other than that it was all yeah, it was all just coming back working. We used to do two days a week in the office I would often take the Monday as a work from home day because of the landing at late on a Sunday or Monday morning. So yeah, but it was tiring, but worth every day. And you say you went over budget, technically, but that's still not a lot of money when F one is sort of like the most expensive sport ever in the whole world costs a million pounds and you've managed to through the whole season on twenty K. How did you do that? Were you sitting on the streets? How did this work? Almost. No, not quite. But I did most of my bookings like over six months, over nine months in advance and that made a huge difference. I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for deals for flights, accommodation. I did stay in some Fairly ropy places at times. It to be fair we do that as well, used to it. Yeah. So yeah, there was a lot of that. and for some of them I wasn't there for the fullkend, so it may only be like one or two nights I'maying there which helped the budget as well. But really it was all about the planning because So how far in advance did you plan? When did this idea come about? How long did it take? So was summer twenty four I started booking stuff sort of September, october twenty twenty four time and then Yeah, I think I decided to then start making videos about it a month or two after that. So after I started booking stuff, I was originally just gonna do it and not make any sort of social media videos And I thought, well, if I'm doing it, why not just make videos?ll. And I'm really glad I did because I never expected it to do as well as it has. And yeah, that's then went on from. What was the hardest race to make work? like the toughest grueling weekend that you were like, o, this is a bit this is close for comfort here. Yes, probably either Brazil or Vegas. So Brazil, I landed in Brazil on the Saturday morning, went straight to the track One night in Brazil went to the track Sunday and then flew home Sunday night Or Vegas, I was literally there for one day. so I landed. I was there for about thirty hours a day in Vegas. Yeah and then flew back via Chicago. So it was pretty them too were the most challenging in terms of just tiredness and relentless travel Okay, let's go opposite what was the best Oh, in terms of In terms of travel, any of the European ones, but in terms of the race I actually enjoy the most, I loved Austria I was in general admission for most races and the general admission in Austria is fantastic, looking over all of the circuit, looking over all the mountains in the background is stunning Love Japan, love Singapore, have so many, but yeah, them a few are probably my favourites. So you're literally living the F one fan dream, really? I mean, first of all, you took the plunge and fair play to your previous work for sort of kind of letting you do all this. You've now gone see you later. I quit because you've become the first ever seasoned ticket holder for a forormmula One. Talk us through that and how that all came about. Crazy ye Yeah. It came about September October time last year. and yeah, the first ever season ticket was created, which covers flights accommodation Gys, that t itetss free trace And when I was off with that I was say no. I think at this point I need to leave my job and just at least enjoy it for the year. Maybe make a career out of making videos or a career in motorsport, but if not then L What an incredible year to have and then yeah, think about the job side of it after that. So you've always loved F one. What got you into F one to start with? Becauseuse now you've got a season ticket. you better love it because you're going to be at every single one. That's true. It really it was my dad. My dad loves F one and And what's really nice about the season ticket is I can take a plus one with me. In Canada, my dad came. so it was his first race of the season he'd been to Nelbanne to Canada So to be able to share it with him and also other friends and family throughout the year. We've got a lot of friends suddenly.'s true. It's true. I became very popular all of a sudden, yeah. But that's the best bit to be able to share it with ye people that also love Eand ye friends and family. So it's amazing. As we said, you've just come back from Canada. so you've done the first five races. Obviously you lost we all lost a couple with with Saudi Bahrain getting cancellled for obvious reasons, but how have the first five been for you year what we've been getting up to? Yeah, brilliant. I mean, what's really cool this year is now that I have left my job, I've got more time to see the countries and the F on weekends as well. So often last year I'd just do the Saturday and Sunday or I'll just do the Sunday. This year I've been all three days for all five Grand Prix so far. Australia, Japan extended the trips, Ssw a bit of Sydney, saw a few cities in Japan with my girlfriends It was them sort of aspects of it that I couldn't do last year is amazing to do and yeah I feel very lucky that I'm able to do that with this ticket? I've got a question. Yeah. Who do you support? Who would you want to win the races? This, I say it's quite funny it'sort painful. I'm a Fari fan. So I've now been to twenty nine races straight and I've still not seen a Ferrari win. But Canada must have been pretty good for you. Yes, actually. It was. And I'm really hopeful for Monica. I feel like that's one of the big chances this year. Ferrari so my fingers are crossed. What What's having know being watching it on the tey just like everybody else a couple of years ago, to then suddenly last year getting for the full sort of fanzone experience, a dip into the paddock. this year, you're getting more paddock experience still sitting in the grandstand. What's been the sort of biggest eye opener for you having just been watching on tey a few years ago to now? Yeah I think the whole behind the scenes aspect, which I'm very fortunate like you say to have seen now, being an F one fan in my life, I've always wanted to go into the paddock and see what it's like The first timem going in last year was honestly like going ont a movie set. you see all the TV cameras, you see all the different crews there filming, you see the drivers walking past you're like star strruck and I think that The whole element of Formula onene I've never seen before has just been incredible. So that part of what's happened over the last eighteen months has got to be yeah one of the most eyeing things for me. What is the best paddock, do you reckon Oh I was really lucky to go on to Qatar last year and that was fantastic. bet that's nice. Yeah It was very spacious and all purpose built and lovely. I think it's quite funny like talking about the paddock I've been in. I'm like eighteen months ago, I've died've been in any paddock and now I've been in a few and can compare them. I'm like it's crazy. so I mean, what an incredible thing to do You're absolutely smashing at the moment, so you've got a long season ahead of you, but I'd say one of the big achievements you've done this year is get your racing license. Absolutely back at you, Harry Thank much Pe may remember a couple of weeks ago we were chatting about me getting my racing license and then I go down to Goodwood and I bump into you. Yes of all people. Yeah, we're showing a car, We were BMW one series. So know around Goodwood, which is a bit of a everyone goes on Goodboods easy. It's not. It's a hard track No it's faster than I thought as well. L lots of sweeping turns, not much sort of heavy braking, so yeah, it was quite difficult, particularly because it was a track doays actually. It was quite daunting when I saw a really fast car behind with a mass wing on it and I'm like, Ohh gosh, get out of the way. Half of be half about was getting out the way at the right time. It was. But I think both we both got a license. on the fl We did. Yeah, one hundred percent pass. Yeah. Both licensed nailed it. Now, we've got to go and challenge each other at a racetack someday. Well, one step at a time. Next time, time time exactly. But I think what you're doing this year is pretty pretty cool. If you I mean, we could play this game all day when it comes to best and worst, but what's been I suppose what's been your best kind of driver interaction that you've had this year? Or team principal or I don't know, celeb in the paddock? Yeah, In the last race, I saw the Fever World Cup trophy in the Paddocks, that was pretty cool. But in terms of driver interactions, it was actually Max Verstappen that handed me the season ticket for this year. No way. Which just blew my mind. I was only told a few days before, and then I got taken into the Paddock in Mexico last year and then I was there waiting nervously. loads of photographers turned up, and I'm like, Oh my go, what is going on now? Stand there and Max turns up chated him for about five minutes and he's genuinely so nice. He's really interested in what I was doing, the challenge I was doing because obviously when you think of like a high profile celeb like Max, I don' know I was always assuming that I'd be the one to ask him questions and try and make the conversation, but he was like asking me questions back and genuinely seemed really interested. So he was lovely. So that's got to be been another one for me. That is pretty cool. Yeah. And we can still watch everything you're still filming now on your Instagram.uget, give theull Full time formula on yeah TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. and I'm still filming every weekend slightly different content now this year because a lot of the content last year was based around the budget I had and trying to hit that budget. Ras this year it's more about like the race weekend experience, what it's like in the country and what it's like to attend the different Grand Prix. So hopefully H hopefully a bit of insight to people that helps people decide what races they want to go to. because that's been one of the best things about making the videos actually is the feedback saying, I watch this video and I book this race because of what you did last year and I'm likeh's so c to know that it's actually helping people out and deciding what ones they want to do. So I mean because you did rank every race based on obviously access, travel, money, all that. So what did come out on top at the end What came out last year? Silverstone. was it It was on f It was g on f Yeah.. So that came out on top and t of the rankings. One big part of the rankings last year was how exciting the race was. So I think that had a big part to play because Silverstone last year was pretty good. Ver probablyably race of the season in my opinion. So that had a big part to play in it. And on the other end of the spectrum The other end was I think it was Vegas off the top of my head T be fair A day in Vegas is rough anyway. Yeah. Maybe that played a part in my scoring as well. Yeah just you hated it. Exactly. And the big one for that was value for money. So one of the things I did used to rate was value for money. And in Vegas I paid six hundred US dollars for pretty much the worst grandst for one day, which was way more than I spent on tickets for any other race. So that was a big part of the lower score for Vegas because it's still a fun event to attend, but value for money wise, it just wasn't as good as the others I love how seriously you take it. I'd love to see the Excel sheets. I would love There's too many. I need to organise them. I think teams, broadcass will happily give you a job in their travel teams. Travel organiser. Yeah. I think this makes you quite a good person, then. I don't know if you've seen the new mononopoly game that's come out in association with Formula One. I don't think it's actually out out yet. I mean, we've not got it I think it looks pretty cool. I want a c doesn't. But I think they've changed some of, know, not getting your Mayfair and your park lanes, they're going to change it to tracks. Yes. So I mean, based off of what you've done, what's getting the Mayfair? what's getting the old Kent Roads? Oh I mean, I think Mayfair, just for the prestige, you've got to go Monaco. Soort fits the Mayfair vibe. O Ken Roba, That's aough one is? That's really harsh to whoever I pick I think. Dhne Vegas. Yeah, I think you've got to go based on the rankings. the thing is with Vegas of the gllitz and glam. I don't know. Saudi was a bit lower as well, so maybe Saudi, but tough to pick on that one. think Silverstone would then sit as Park Le maybe. so you'd Silverstone in Monico is, like the two prestigious races with there. I'd be putting in Singapore maybe theyough. Oh yeah. Really? Well, it's quite bougy, isn't it Singapore? It is bougy. were you there last year? I was there last year. But I feel like there are more exciting places to be. like the bit more buzzing, like Silverstone, like crazy. So much Monaco Yeah. So I'm dropping it down a bit. Where are you at on your monopoly skill level? Are you sort of buying up you know greens and putting hotels on them straight away? You don't w want to play that game with me.
