Big Ben talks 'I Can Only Imagine 2' premier, PBR in Pittsburgh and more! Ep 121Feb 17, 2026 — starts at 0:00

Welcome back to football with Ben Rothersberger, and I'm Ben. He's Spence, and we've been gone for a couple weeks now. Well, two weeks. A little bye week. A little bye-week in there. By week during the offseason. So uh we're back. Uh, not a lot of steeler news to really hit on. I know the I think the staff is done. I think it's filled up. I don't think is all done. We've talked about that a little bit. Um obviously there's been no that I can recollect, and I apologize to anybody if I if there is some big news out there that we've missed. Uh you know, wait, obviously the biggest news will probably always be Aaron in in the quarterback situation. Uh we don't have that. The I think the biggest thing going on right now in in um like this football world is all the mock drafts. Right. We're a couple we're a couple months away from uh the draft here in Pittsburgh, which is going to be awesome. Uh and there's there's probably a million well maybe not a million. Probably that honestly there probably is. There's a lot of mock. Like have you been have you been looking at that? I mean it's because it's April right is when the draft starts yeah. So have you been I mean, I've only looked at it in the sense that someone might like like you'll see a headline, um, new mock draft, Steelers take this player. You know, so like just just minimal. There's so much of 'em. But I guess the reason I'll say it is that maybe next week uh we could or when the next show we can dive into some of these mock drafts and see what we agree, disagree players that we think they should take. Because I know there's been a lot of talk about or not a lot, there's been some talk I've seen about taking the um Alabama quarterback. Is it Simpson? Samson Samson Swimmy Swanson Samson Knight. Samson Knight that's got two. Oh what is that? Night at the museum? Oh gosh, yeah. Yeah. Um but but we'll maybe dive into that in um yeah next next episode because again it's just not this is kind of the the slow period of football news and sports. Other than I did see um the Dolphins release Tyreek Hill. Which is crazy. Which is like is that from a talent wise. Yeah. I mean I get he's injured and there's some you know things that could happen. Is that like um is him weapons? Yeah, it's him injured still he,'s still faster than like 80% of the people, right? I sure would think so. Like that's that would be faster than these two guys sitting here. Yeah, for sure. For sure. There's you know what I think about there's a lot of people faster than me. Yeah. Well, anyway, uh, don't know what what if anything's gonna transpire with that. I just thought that was interesting and like could that be a little Is this w when you're playing, is this time where there's just kinda lull? Uh is this like refreshing or are you guys as, players too, looking at like who could we draft? You're going back, maybe watching college tape, and like, oh yo, that cat from Notre Dame would be sick or whatever. Yeah, I mean, I maybe a little bit, but not I mean, it's not like the teams like asking for advice. So it'd be more just like, um, now I would say this, like if there's a player, yeah, you know, like I remember um I don't remember what time of year it was, but like when Joe Hayden got released, or you think of like Vance McDonald, some of those guys that were like free agents like, oh hey hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, what are we doing? Hey, Joe. Oh, I'm not this isn't tampering, right? Like you want to come on over? We'd love to have you. Um, things like that. But you know, you like Rivers, Joe? There might be guys um on the team that know Tyreek or whatever that would be, hey, like reaching out to him or or or or you know whatever going to coach hey what do you think about yeah but but it it probably be a little unique right now because coach is new too yeah so it's like hey the we're gonna go in and try and get him to recruit these guys and and there's just so much involved with that. I don't even know what the situation's like. Like did he get I think I hurt later in the year. So is he going to be out for a big chunk of the year? But again at the end of the day, someone like that, if you know, he's still faster than most people. So yeah. So it's could be interesting. That's all I'm saying. Could be interesting. This is the start, because even after the draft, the draft's cool because we get a little juice. You're excited to see what could you know formulate in your team. But then, brother, it's a long summer. You know, like this is like we're sitting here in February. We're like, we're missing football already. Especially because we didn't really talk about the Super Bowl. But uh you know what I got good at uh during the Super Bowl? Cooking. You know what I mean? I was cooking, I was making wings, I was like, I I I guess it was cool. Yeah. I mean, like it was fun to watch that times I did, but you never want to accuse guy because they're they're giving it all congratulations to the Seahawks. Yes. Um not trying to take anything away, but it did feel like it was just a for whatever reason a little underwhelming at times. Maybe because it was just defense and and listen, if you're a defensive guy, you probably were like, Are you kidding me? Greatest super of all time. You know what I did love? The fact that Sam Darnold got one. Yeah. Like this is I mean you're talking about underdog stories, man, like this is a man got counted out oh everywhere and then the one place he proves himself they get rid of him. Mm. I'm like and then he the next year he goes and wins a Super Bowl. Sam Joe, good fre good freak. Sam that's a that's really cool to see. But other than that, like I maybe it was it was that for me because I had no dog in the fight. Like, you know, obviously I'm a Steelers fan. I grew up a Buccaneers fan and a this is very convoluted here, so follow me. And a 49ers fan. My my my biological father comes from Samoa to San Francisco. We got indoctrinated with the Niners. The Niners team was awesome. I grew up wanting to be Jerry Rice, and I realized how slow I was and thought, you know what? I'm more built like a reader. I'll stick to this. Um and then being from Tampa, I mean, you know, it was the it was the creamsicle before we knew it was cool. Yeah, for sure. And then uh obviously moving here, you can't live in Pittsburgh and uh not be a Steelers fan. So no dog in the fight. You know what I mean? So with it too. But anyway, it what was cool is that this passed, obviously we didn't do one last week just due to the sheer fact of like it's the offseason, but we had a busy week. We had a lot going on uh this past weekend. There's a lot happening in a short period of time. Yeah, dude. Yeah. I don't I don't know how you you guys you guys have a the pace in which your family it has is is important. You should write a book. Well it drives my wife nuts, I think, at times. But um it does, I will say this. It helps when you're like out of car seats, you're out of diaper bags, and you can like that is a huge strollers. Exactly. It is like who brought the stroller? Who got the car seat? Who got the bait? I mean, I remember I remember like going to a like one point, I forget when this was, but we landed somewhere um and we had we forgot the car seat. Yeah. And so then you're like, well we, have a couple options. Option one is we drive and Ash just holds. Yeah. Which you always feel like, okay, mom bare strength, dad strength, like I'm stronger in a seatbelt. Yeah. But I you know, and yeah. Probably not. Not the greatest option. Yeah. So we we we quickly threw I mean we did I say I debated it more than probably she did, but um we threw that out and it's the other option was okay, I gotta drive to the whole like the the place where we're staying. Yeah, get a car seat from them and then come back and then come back. And it's like, okay, sorry, Ash, you're gonna stay here with the kids and I'll be back. You know, so but but once you get past that, it it's still a lot, but it's a lot easier. You know what I'm saying? And um yeah, it's just like, hey guys, now the biggest thing is like, did y'all pack your toothbrush? Right. Or did you guys your home oh we oh somehow we forgot our homework. I don't want to project diff like a my level of difficult difficulty over yours but some I have littles two and four and um man it's it would be so nice to be like oh I'll get you another toothbrush we we had an event my wife and I own a gym uh here in town and we had an event over the Valentine's Day weekend and we were loading like all of our um it's a kickboxing gym, so we're like we're moving these these kickboxing backs. And um we took our girls to the gym to kind of load out and it was the first similar thing. She was like, Did you uh do you have like diapers and wipes in here? I'm like, I don't know I'm like, all right, well let's just hope she's all right. Or we'll run into the giant eagle real quick. Yep. Shout out giant eagle. All that. Yeah. So that was uh it's a yeah, but so the pace, the pace is a little bit different. Uh I don't leave my house. Winter is cool because I don't have to leave my house. But uh leaving my house is an event. Yes, yes, it can be. Trust me, it it's it does there it's still an event, it's just a different kind of event. You know, now we're fighting over who sits where in the car. Well done. Okay, that's where you're sitting. That's now it's who gets to sit in this seat, who sits here, and it's like what are we doing guys? Like we we we've tried everything from like rolling a like rolling dice, paper, rock scissors, high cards. I mean it you just you fight everything. You know what you should do. So like Monday's your day, Tuesday's your day, Wednesday your day. And not even you should do this is just um we're we're we're problem solving right now, folks. All right. So feel free to chime in. Seasoned parents, chime in on the comments there as like, all right, you got your chores, your chores, and you give them you know, whatever m real money, but then some some play money but hey you can buy car seats with this they were like hey if you want to sit in the good seat that's gonna be five dollars how much do you want it to do something I like that a little monopoly money on the side like you know okay how much are you willing to spend is it is it that important to sit where you know at the front seat. Let's see what value is. All of a sudden you've been riding in the back for all year and now you're flush, right? So Benjamin hit us today with uh um like we were talking this whole thing today, and he wanted to see you know we're talking about like the the when we say in front I talk about like the past the the two yeah the back eight the the bucket seats behind the and the Ashes SUV and we're like why is it such a like big because no one wants to sit in the backpack but like growing up I always wanted to go to the back because you could sprawl. That's the back in the day we didn't weat belts in the back seat. You could lay down. Yeah, the nineties were wild. Don't recommend that. But um now it's like he this is what he said. He goes, I want to sit in that that front seat because it's got we're like, why do you want to sit there so bad? He goes because it's got a heat seater. Because we're like, it's a 10-minute ride to school. Yeah. Why do you need to sit there so bad? Because there's a heat seater in there and it feels nice to have the heat seater. And we're like, Really? Oh, he's fancy. So then we got in the car today. I'm taking him to school. Yeah. And we're we'reing we're driv there and I'm like, hey, you got your heat seater on? He's like, oh, and he put it on. I'm like, so what are we doing? Anyway. So but I will say, so this I don't it was a the Thursday last week. Yeah, last week. I saw yeah. You and I headed out of town uh to an event and which we will talk about in a second. And I came over here and we drove together. I just hopped in your guys' car and we rode out and it was like the opening sequence to uh home alone. Like everyone's trying to get to their airport. But I it I think if you didn't, if outside looking in, if you didn't know what was happening, it would seem chaotic, but everybody kind of fell into their it felt like they knew. Nowhere to go, know what to do, and the expectation. Dad set some expectations. Yeah, it was awesome. And then and we ended up headed down to Nashville. Right. Yeah. My fa it was me and Ashley and the kids and and you uh went down to Nashville. We met we met uh good friends of the show, Jason Lay and his wife Laura down there. That's right. Uh, because we went down there to go see the um premiere walk the not red carpet because it wasn't red, and we didn't want to, but we took some pictures on it. But of I can only imagine two. That's right. Our good friend Bart Millard from Mercy Me's new movie coming soon to theaters this weekend, I think, the twentieth. February twentieth is out everywhere yes. Um so we went this well, hold on, before we get to that. Speaking of movies, we had um did you see I think it was yesterday that Robert Duvall passed away. Yeah, that's tragic, man. Bob Duval. Yeah. What and I first thing I thought of was four Christmases and that scene up on the roof. What it's and Brendan and Justin both sides like we had a group as they sent me that clip. That's the first one I thought of. So him and and then Jesse C. Jackson passed away today. I mean I'm sorry, I just I don't I mean it don't get anything down, but I didn't leave him out either because obviously very influential person in society. But tragic maybe anyway Anyway., movies made me me think think of of Duvall, which made Jesse Jackson. Anyway. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Yeah, here we go. Yes, we went and saw the movie. I can only imagine two. Was a lot of fun taking the kids there. Got to see a lot of our our friends, obviously the the band, the Mercy Me band, all those guys were there. Our very good friend uh Scott Brickle from Brick House Entertainment. He's the legend. Yes, he is. He is a legend. He's actually he, is Mercy. He's made he made Mercy Me. Yeah. They owe everything to him. He's the Mercy and Mercy Me. And who's played by Trace Atkins. Which has got to be the highest honor of a lifetime. And we got to see, we were there, we got to meet Trace. Yeah. Um, which was super cool. Yeah. That's like that's like meeting um like a great white buffalo. Yeah, a fictional character. You're like you know, you see him your whole life and then and then you see him in person. He's this mountain of a man like he he''ss six he's a big fellow yeah big fellow big guy five yeah yeah yeah big guy he got that you got that demon it's so deep you can't even get to it yeah and I think he he knows it and he loves to get like go there extra when he meets someone he I introduced him to the kids right because it was like hey we get to meet him and he was I Ben nice to meet you I was like nice to meet you and I was like these are the kids and and it's almost like one of those ones when I'm sure if you meet someone that's like tall, like a a a a really big person. When the you know meet the kids, they like stand up a little taller or like there's just some unique things, right? Like you know, you see James Harrison, he's got the big muff, he does extra muff, like he curls before he sees him, right? It's fun things. Yeah. Um and it was like Mr. Akins like I need to call him Mr. Atkins. Yeah. Trace was like, he went he went like even lower when he saw the kids. He was like, I mean, oh no, we can't we can't do it. Pretend what I did and then go go way down. Pitch it down a whole lot. And he was like, Hey there, young man. Hey there, young lady. And like it was just, you know, just it was so cool. And the kids were just like, Oh, his voice is so deep. And they thought it was really cool. Yeah. Um, and the crazy thing was, is his wife plays on a show that we watch as a family called Heartland. Oh no way. She was like on so they're all we're like Yeah double star star. Yeah I'm like I'm sorry I'm sorry Mr. Mr. Atkins but they think they like your white your wife is cooler cooler than you because she's in Heartland. But um yeah yeah that that was was so really cool to be there and um you know be a part of that and and see those people and and you know bef before the show like while we sat down in our seats and um at one point I keep seeing Bailey, I'm like, why is she like so Bailey and then Ashley and then Bodie, my uh Benjamin and myself sat in our seats and I kept seeing them like looking back and like, what are they doing? And I look over at Bailey and she goes like this. And I'm like, what's wrong? She's like, Ann Wilson's behind us. So like two rows behind us is Ann Wilson, who she like is a singer, country slash Christian singer. And she like just loves it. She was just like, yeah. I'm like, Billy, you're you're embarrassing me. No. So I didn't but um it was just so funny. But it was and it was so cool because afterwards Brickle like I think he Brickle's then like a row or two behind us like in the same row as her and and had like brought her down. Oh, that's to say hello. And so and she was just so sweet and just like, oh my goodness, it's nice. Like took the time to shake all of our hands, shake Bailey's hand, ask how you're doing, you know, that kind of stuff. So it was really just a really cool event to be to be at so yeah that was the first premiere i think i've been to i've had i've seen some screen like early screenings uh which is always a cool event because i'm a huge movie fan. Yeah. Like I like i remember growing up I would go to um the movies at like noon by myself to see whatever came out just because I love that experience. I think more people should go to movie theaters. I know it's like the age of streaming, but I think there's just something powerful seeing a movie with people on the format in which the filmmakers designed it to be. Yeah. It's so it's amazing. So I would encourage you go to the movies in general, but then go see I can only imagine two and it was a crazy I mean the red carp you've probably been on a handful of them no just uh just just like like one or two. I went with the one with Ashley we went to like the kids were like you've been this before like yeah went saw the hangover because it's one of Thomas's movies, so that we're like a little different, but it was um yeah, not like it was it was cool because we weren't necessarily did the carpet and didn't we just kind of got to watch it and this kind of the other, so it's pretty cool. Yeah, it it was the whole thing, and and you know, that's the uh one guy, so it's it is about uh Bart's story after so the first I can only imagine is about the song I Can Only Imagine. And we had Bart on the show, he broke it down. Uh, you can go check out that episode, it's on the channel. Uh, this is this takes place uh still following his life, still based on a true story. This takes place after the success of that song kind of blows up, and Mercy Me kind of becomes a household name. Um, and it it follows the creation of the song Even If, which is another one of Mercy Me's songs. you I'fre not familiar, I would strongly encourage you to go check that out because it's extremely powerful. Um and it's it's actually ministered to me in my life during all the stuff that was going on with our youngest daughter. So I'd encourage you go check that out if you haven't heard it already. But um it also chronicles what's going on in Bart's life. And you're introduced to a new character named Tim Timmins, who's a singer-songwriter, amazing voice. Um, and and those two actually wrote that song together and it chronicles that experience and all kind of the hardships that they're going through. I don't want to ruin it for you because it's a beautiful movie. Great movie. Both of their stories are out there if you're familiar with them. So you can go find them. And I would encourage you to go see this movie. But it's a powerful movie, man. Um I,' Ill'll give a little bit away of for the plot without ruining it. Um, but um Bart's oldest son, Sam, super rad dude, also a musician, very talented. His name's he goes by the artist named Sam Sam Sam Wesley, just released one a new single which is phenomenal called Living Water go check it out um they're just they didn't pay us to say any of this but we're just fans of but um it's uh he he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a very young age. Like two. Very, very young age. And and Bart is going through and the story follows Bart trying to deal with success, trying to, you know, he's a he's a new young parent. He's figuring out how to live with a child that has diabetes and can go south quick and has had a couple episodes in which that comes. So that fear of just something happening to your child, which I'm unfortunately very familiar with. Um so as we're watching and and the story goes on, is a bunch of amazing stuff. You get to see how Tim's story uh intersects with that story as well. And you get to see God really, really transform both of these men through this process. And it's amazing. But what I will say is just making some observations on this movie because we haven't really got to talk about it. Um, because we were in and out, and again we'll talk about that. But um the first part of this movie you get to see Bart and have some really challenging moments with uh his his lovely wife Shannon and uh their son Sam. And uh for any of you guys that are familiar with uh what you know, if you guys are part of the football and family, you know that my youngest daughter was born with chronic kidney disease. Uh, she was on life support from the moment she came out and a week in from a week after he was born, we were encouraged by medical professionals to pull the life support and so we might hold her before uh she passed away. Uh I chose not to do that. And um she turned to in January. So she's she got a kidney transplant in this past December from my lovely, strong, powerful wife and um and it's it's an ongoing journey but praise god she is she is here she is here to stay she's alive and well she and um she's hilarious um she is but we have I mean we're going tomorrow for blood work. And so we have it it's it's a very tangible reality. And so I'm watching this play out on screen. And in the in the opening of this movie is you really get to feel what Bart and Shannon were going through there. And I mean you see some I was like, oh that's I wish Bart would have warned me on that. That was that was a little that was a little too soon. It was tough. Uh and and uh but it but it did capture the reality of of of of that parental fear man and um it was something that having gone through that recently and currently going through it to some degree uh I I just I'm really appreciative that they they made this film. Yeah. Because it let me reflect on in a weird way, it was cathartic for me. In a weird way, it helped me kind of process this experience that me and my wife have had with our youngest daughter, which we don't really get to. We've mentioned it here, you and I have had in-depth conversations of and teasing it out, but it's something as a parent that's gone through something like that, you just kind of carry with you. Yeah. You know, you don't get to put it down. You don't get to have a day off. It's always I you wake up at 8:30 this morning. We pulled the meds for her bottle. Like it's it is what your new normal is. And and to so to see it on screen, um, if it felt it, I don't know, just it's like you like we were seen. You know, and that like and I knew this with Bart and I know Sam, you know, but to s I didn't I wouldn't know him when they went through it. And so to see w a dear friend of ours go through it, it felt um like we were being represented. And so it allowed me to reflect in that space and it did a lot for me. Um watching that, having that experience. I'm curious because we haven't got to caught up as you're watching this movie and all the powerful moments in it. What did what were you taking away from that? Yeah, I mean, obviously, knowing Bart, knowing Sam, kind of knowing the story, but but you get to see and and be a part of the story differently when you're watching it up there. Um obviously we know some more details, but then some things are just powerful to be seen, right? Because you can hear about things, but when you see it's different, it's different excuse me um I think like the transformation is what I what I see because I think about the first movie and I think about how his dad if you if you haven't seen the first like like Spence said go see the first one. The first one is a lot more about Bart growing up with his dad. His dad was verbally abusive to him and just wasn't a great dad. And his dad ends up getting sick and finds Jesus and transforms into the dad that Bart always wanted him to be. And Bart will tell us and has told people that the last you know bit of time years that he had with his dad, um, he's like he was the best dad. He goes, he was the best version of himself, and we had a great time. He just was so transformed. And then you know, you look at the next the the second, I can only imagine two, and it's about I think a lot about Bart's transformation, right? From like you said, the the difficulties of of being thrown a curveball with with a with your with your child and um you know something that you've had to deal with so brave Bravely, you and your wife, and the things you've had to do, but but you know, that's from Bart having to give shots all the time, which I know you're familiar with, and all the stuff you have to do, and him just basically saying, like, I was not the best dad early on because I was so concerned with protecting with with protecting and it was less about being a dad and and and and and having fun and and this that to like I'm no my only job is to caretaking, keep him alive. And so he just he transforms as you as you go throughout the movie into a dad that can do both. And he can love and he can be the best version of his dad, which we know him obviously as an amazing father and um and husband to Shannon and and dad to all his kids that he has. Um and so to me, that's what it's about. It's about the transformation I think about my own life. And it reminded me of the transformation that that I've gone through in my life, you know, and that only comes from the grace of God and only comes from the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross, you know, being sanctified through him. Because, you know, I think it we all have to grow up. We're all immature at times and we're all selfish. And that's just part of what happened in the garden. I mean that you know that's the the the sin that is in all of us. We're born inherently sinful and selfish. And so I think as we grow and we mature, and again I say it's only through the grace of God that that we can look back and be like man that look look how much I'm changed. I'm proud of that. Now I I like to think as we mature and as we grow in our faith, I grow in my faith that it's less about me number one. As it I think a lot of us, I think inherently that's what we are. We're born that way. We're born I'm number one. And I think as um as as I've grown in my faith and and with my family and everything, it's like me needs to come way down. Yeah. And God goes number one, my family, my friends, and then me. And so I think I go through that every day. I mean it's I I I pray that every day, God give me, a soft heart. Give me a soft heart, a Jesus heart. Um, because it's it's only by your grace that I can be changed and and saved, because I can't do it by myself. And um I I've tried in the past to do it myself and it can't be done. That's how I know that there's the power of the Holy Spirit, the power of Jesus that that He could his own that can change me. And so I just hope, you know, even looking back or you know, fast forward five years, I hope then in five years, I'm looking back at this version of me and still being like, holy cow, he's continuing to transform because that's my goal is that every day I can be transformed into the man that God made me to be and someone that he's proud of and that my family's proud of. And so that's that that's what I got out of is just being reminded of transformation and how important it is and how beautiful it is and how it's not always easy, but um it's only by his grace and and him dying that that that can happen. So um again, I couldn't do by myself. Yeah, thank God for God. Oh, thank you, Jesus, for everything. That is, that is, yeah, that is an interesting thing you think about like, you know, the selfishness of my own life. I'm like, I was a huge fan of me. Thank God that so was Jesus and he was willing to deal with me to come get me. So uh thanks thanks the Lord. Um but I think I think having that getting to share that experience with you and your family. Yeah, uh which is I think the kids gonna be there. It's listen, it's a group guys, please go see this movie. It comes out the 20th. It's got a great, it's obviously got a great story. It's got a great song to it. And it's got I mean we laughed. Yeah. You laughed, you cried. And I hope they do the thing at the end of the movie. I don't want to like ruin anything, but I hope they do that little thing at the the end of movie because that was something incredibly special. So stay after the cr like through the credits because there's a a small little clip it, which I always wonder why they do that with movies. They don't tell you if you're not like ever been walking out and you like stop because you're at the door and like wait, I've been oh yeah, but. there Th'ere's mores. Hey, little something a little something at the end. Um, and if they hopefully do what they did for us at the end, which was super special. Yeah. I hope they include that into I know they did some ex screw some screens that were explicitly had that portion of the I hope they do that for everyone and just give the opportunity. Like if you don't want to be participate, you can bail. But if not, like it was it was crazy powerful, man. And 1400 people in there being just worship. It was pretty cool. Yeah. And yeah. So it's it's phenomenal, man. It's it it just makes me think about as somebody who is a follower of Jesus and for my entire adult life has been working in entertainment in some capacity. It's like it's important to make that. Yeah, you know, and I think it's so often we can look at it like, oh yeah, it's just a whatever Christian movie. I'm like, do I think about what it did for me and my personal now? I'm just a nobody watching the movie, but like to feel to have, I'm not the only one that's gone through what I've gone through. And to feel seen by somebody's artistic expression, like that's important, man. There's people who watch this show. I know for a fact because y'all reach out and I'm grateful for you. And we legitimately pray for you. Like there are people who watch this show that are like, yo, Spence, thank you so much for sharing this thing. Me and my son, me and my daughter. And it's like, yo, the whole purpose of the football and family was like, you're not alone in doing this thing called life. Some, you know, most of the time we talk about football so we can get a break from all this, but that's the importance of for you to be able to see that and and have that that allow it to remind you of that the work that God's done your life. It's easy to forget about that on the daily basis. So it's important to have these little touch points to remind you of all that stuff. So and again, I want to say this too. Like if you're out there and you're like, man, that that faith stuff, I don't need that. It's this is not, it's not a there's a lot of God in this movie, but I promise you, if you if you have if you know someone who has whether it's diabetes or any kind of medical thing, illness or whatever, this this movie can affect you and reach you and touch you. So don't don't just like dismiss this movie because it's a Christian movie And it's funny, it's got a great story, it's got a great song to it. And and Bart had said that himself. He's had more people come up and say that that the they've been affected by this movie not because of the faith element but because of the the diabetes and what they've gone through and then it's helped them um get through it. So anyway, we just we highly recommend we you know again I don't want you to to discredit this movie because you think it's like a Christian movie and Christian movies aren't even good because there's a lot of really good Christian movies out there. I would even argue I know that like the uh it's about a Christian band and they're Christians and they don't shy from their faith in the film. Um, but like it's a movie about uh it's a father-son movie. It's yeah, it's it's a human movie, and and you see the the people involved in the movie lean on their fa ith to to reach results. Right. They happen to lean on on their trust in Jesus. But what they're going through is it won't matter what you believe, man. It's if you or if you're alive long enough, you've experienced pain and and uh it speaks to that in such a powerful way. I will say uh Milo Ventimilia is he plays Tim Tim it's well done on the bat on the last name. You like that? You know what I mean? Uh somebody learn how to read. Um so he is an actor that I'm sure a lot of you guys are familiar with. He's been gossip girl. He was on heroes. He was uh Rocky Baboa's son in Rocky Babo. Yeah so this this this is us? Only us? Yeah this is us that the the show. I don't watch a lot of TV. So, but I would imagine anyway, he's a very talented like that? Yeah. Uh he's very talented actor. His performance in this movie is phenomenal. Yeah. Everybody crushes it, but that he had a very heavy weight in his character and he did a phenomenal job. So Milo I didn't emotional till the end when his wife who is gonna be in the in the upcoming Yellowstone Oh yes spin off. Ariel Kebble. Her name was Hillary in the movie. Yes, Hillary is to him's wife in real life. I didn't emotional till till like the last little bit and then that just opened the floodgates for the rest of the movie. Anyway, yeah, they all I mean everyone did a great job. So we we highly recommend it. Let us know when you guys go see it. Um let us know on the thing what you think of it. So yeah. But we did, and then we had to hustle. There were the Mercy Me was going to play that night Friday night, then because we stayed Thursday night. Friday night they were gonna play the Grand Old Opry. We couldn't hustle back to Pittsburgh. Yeah, we were back because the Bulls were in town. But the Bulls. But not no, not the basketball. Not the 96 Bulls, no. Not Jordan and the Bulls and Pippin and all them. No, like real animals, bro. P PR. The PBR was at the PPG. Um and so we got back to be a part of that. Yeah, you and the family went down. Yes, the whole family went. Actually we and uh the the Bryans went with us because all the kids and yep they we were going down there to support the ridge riders. That's Thomas's bull riding team. So all the kids had like their Ridge Rider jerseys and stuff on. It's really cool. You were riding right. Um I, was going to get on one, but they didn't bulls available. Uh yeah, but no, it was so fun because we sat in the dirt suites, which are right on the on the dirt, so you get to see all the um like up close in person, and it's so much fun 'cause the kids were hollering and it's it's just just bull after bull after bull. And you know, we've done the American, we've talked about that, which is awesome. That's a lot of um horsemanship. So that's you know, bronx, that's um barrels, that's a lot of different this is just straight bull riding. And it's just, it's just grimy and just tough. And these athletes, and I mean athletes by the both the riders and the bulls are spectacular. So much so that we got to like um when it went time to like go to CBS, like when the ridge riders they do like games where they compete against just like one team against another team, it's like four or five riders and you add your scores up. We were on the shoots. So Brett Keisel was there. Yeah. Um, because Brett was doing something the next night, which we can talk about. But um we were on top of the chutes, like literally standing there looking at the bull, and the bull's like fidgeting and the thing. I'm like, when that bull fidgets in this in the chutes like that, I would have hopped right off. Like no, I'm out of here. Like these bulls are slamming these guys against the things. And we're standing. It's cool because we're standing there with like other cowboys and riders. And I'm like, what is like doesn't that hurt? And I'm like, eh, not as bad as you think. Like, just like and it's so it's you're getting like insider information right there when the guys or like this guy one time in the shoots I I wish I can remember all their names, but they're just I I can't. But there was this one guy in the chute that was in the shoot for a long time because the bull couldn't get settled. Yeah. And he couldn't. And I'm like, no way. I'm I'm out of here. Okay. Like I'm not doing this right now. Let me so you're you historically tough guy in your profession. All right. Um I know you to have a pain tolerance that is probably clinical. Like you probably should go get that checked out. Um you don't feel it the same we feel it. How long are you sitting on that bull before you go? I'm not getting out of the shoot. Soon he starts wrestling around. You know what? I got I I left my phone. The guy, those th I say the guy. The guys are huge. Those bulls are huge. Yeah, dude like they're just it's just i'm i'm i made the joke at the thing when they did the um when they they interviewed me i said man i haven't seen as much muscles as james harrison was in the weight room like these these bulls are just you know the it's it's 1500 pound Debo could do it. Debo could just do it. Listen, Debo thinks he could do it. Let's try it. I think he wants to. Yeah. I think he last year he slapped one in the shoot. That's that's I feel like that would be on the top five list of don't do too important But there's this bull, this rider's on this bull, and we're sitting there and we're watching, and this bull just can't get settled, and it's just going and going and going. And it's taken like like it felt five minutes. It might have only been a couple minutes. But I'm like, this guy's got like at some point. I'm like, no. So they end up, they pull the shoot, the he rides it for eight. But as soon as he gets done, everyone's like, oh no, nope, not good. He's gonna get a rewrite. I'm like, I'm sorry, what? Look like he I'm cheering, I'm screaming. I'm like, he did it, he did it. And they're like, no, I'm like, what do you mean? They're like that's only like a 70. I'm like, what? Um and they're like, yeah, the bull didn't do enough. I'm like, he should get credit for what the bull did in the shoots. Yeah, for real. Because it was crazy. But anyway, those guys are nuts. I saw I got to meet a lot of those guys. I got you know who the cool some of the coolest guys might say the coolest. Some of the coolest guys are the border, they call them the border patrol protection group? And they're like the old they just call them the clowns. Oh yeah, yeah. They're like the bull fighters. So they're the ones that are like keeping the riders safe. I mean, they're throwing themselves in there. And basically, their job is to, and I was told is, to create a triangle around the bull so that the bull's constantly going. And you want to get as close to the bull's shoulder as you can because then he can't get you. I don't. I don't say the same. I'm sorry. You said get as close to the shoulder. As you can. Yeah. Because can he't get you with his head, I guess, and he can't kick you. I don't. But it seemed crazy. But it it was unbelievable. The kids had a blast. We had so much fun and it was just, it was so cool. That is something having gone to the American, uh, which is phenomenal. It it was my first rodeo. I grew up in a little beach town. Yeah, this was not what we grew up doing. I was a fish out of water for sure. I think I was the only one not wearing boots. I was like I was I was walking on the on the dirt with some dunk Lowe's and um it it was the most I think because I think uh horses are the most majestic animal on the planet. And so but to watch what these individuals can do and to think like the the care and respect you have to have. So I grew up surfing. That was one thing that we always said to the ocean, be like, yeah, it's beautiful, but like respect it. Because if it decides it's over, it's just over. Same principle with the bull. Like it's and to think about what these athletes are like. I think about training. I'm like, there's no training regimen that's any safer than just doing it. Yeah. I don't which is crazy to me. I I don't I don't I mean I feel like in football or something like you can you have some say in like I know big guy like like the cowboys were like well we think what you did was crazy. Like yeah but I have a little bit of say I can wiggle like what say do you have on the back of the bull? Yeah that's what I mean. And I I think part of it is they and I was I mean more guys can chime in, but I was talking to these guys, like these bulls have a pattern and a routine that they just for whatever reason do most of the time. Okay. And I'm like, okay, so they're like, you watch them and they're like, feel like, okay, I know he likes to go right. I'm like, but what if he doesn't? That's what I'm saying. And they're like, no, he will most of the time. But what if he doesn't? Really say most It's it's like it reminded me. I'm like, well that reminds me of like sometimes in football when you're having a um uh a meeting you're putting in plays and you're like okay we're putting this play in like okay that looks good love that. Now, what if they do this on defense? Well, their their tendency is they won't. Okay, okay, but but but what if they do? Like I remember there was a time and Charlie Batch, Byron Leftwich, um Dennis Dixon, all those guys that are in this meeting can vouch for this. Um there was a play that we had in, and I can't remember the play, but basically it was like, uh okay, like we have the concept drawn up. And I'm like okay, what if they go cover zero? Now cover zero is when it's all out blitz and they're gonna bring one more guy than you can block. Yeah. I'm like, what's our what's our adjustment? Usually you have some sort of adjustment, uh a hot route, a site. Remember a hot route, red seven. You have something. I remember being like, hey, what's but this was something where everyone was like doing something deep. And it's like, okay, what what are we doing if they go zero? Well, they won't. Okay, gotcha. Um, understand that ninety nine percent of the time they won't, but what if they do? Well uh we we don't think that they won't. And I'm like, again, but what if they do? And you know what the answer was? Well, you're just gonna have to find a way to beat it. I'm so funny, bro. Sorry, beat it. Just beat it. Just real quick, I love the game plan, coach. As the person um who they are running after to tackle, I just wanna see if we have an option. We're gonna beat that. Okay. So anyway, but that's what remind me of like the bull no the bull does this. But in it that's a lot different. Like if the bull doesn't do this, like we're in trouble. But yeah, um unfortunately I missed the second night um because uh Brett Keisel was officiating a few weddings. Yeah, so I caught wind of that recently. And that's the coolest thing I've ever heard of my life. So cool. So cool. Um he texted me. He's like, are you going what night you going? I'm going Friday. He goes, Oh, he goes, I'm going both. I have to officiate. So I'm uh you're you're doing well, you're officiating some weddings. I said, Don't you be ordained? He goes, I am, I'm online ordained. Did he say that to you like it was a normal thing? Ah man, too bad because I'm officiating these weddings, as if he didn't he wouldn't have to explain what he just said to me. I don't know. I don't know, but it was so funny because he was gonna ride a horse out to the arena. Yes. And the first night he's looking at like there's pyros on the ground. He's like why I can just make sure to step on the pyros and everything. So yeah, he sent me a picture of him up on the horse and he he married a couple people, I think, and or did a vow renewal on some people. But um yeah, I I I just Keisel's just out here doing side quests. I mean unbelievable. Minister Keisel. And he looked perfect. You know, I mean he's he's a horse. I asked him, I said, did your horse act up so you could show him your horseman skills. He goes, no, not this time. But he did say he was on it in the shoots because he was going to come out of the shoots where the bulls come in. Yeah. And he goes, the horse I was on was what they call pickup horse. So it's on when you want to help. And he goes, this horse was like biting at the cat at the bulls and i'm like see those horses like if you're a cowboy a pickup guy on the back you have a job your job is to help the cowboy the rider but your horse is like you're almost like just get out of the way like let the horse do the job. And he said he goes, this horse was biting at the bulls like, no, I'm in charge here. Crazy. I'm good, man. Good for you, Brett. Yeah, that's I didn't know. I didn't even know Key So how do you make that phone call? It's like, hey, I want to get married. All right. But at a rodeo. Okay. But I want Brett Keisel to. I know. I don't know, but it was, it seems awesome. I mean, if that's if that's your thing, what else do you want? Oh my gosh. That's the cool that's the coolest wedding story ever. Whoever that happened, congratulations. Yes. You have the coolest hope you're part of the family. Send us a picture if you're part of the football family. You have the coolest wedding story that I've ever heard. That's amazing. So anyway, yeah, that was busy weekend. It was a busy weekend. Busy weekend to say the least. Not as busy as Brett Keisel's. Good good for him though. Yeah, that so got online work. That's awesome. Oh man. Anyway, I think that I mean I'll we don't have much else for y'all. I'm waiting for for sports, bro. What we've got the winter Olympics going. I know I I watch a little bit of it, but it's only uh not a not enough. Hey, you know what's the most terrifying thing out there? Well let me ask you, what is the most terrifying thing out there for you? Rightingable ? Fun to pinch up. No, no, no. In the in the what are you, Indiana Jones? What is that um uh no, the winter Olympics, that luge, bro. Oh you seen that? Is that the the head first one or the late? They don't do headfirst ever, right? Or no, I think they do head first sometimes. Either one, you're good. The single one when you're not in the the little bobsleds. Yeah. Got a bobsled team. Yeah. I heard our bobsled team didn't even make it into the bobsled. Which I listen but they couldn't get in it. And they couldn't get in it and then it just went solo, bro. One job. It's I'm not gonna hate on an Olympic athlete for doing something I've never even seen because running on the ice in the snow would be the hardest i mean i i would have probably fell out i would have been on the ground before i even got the push yeah 100 i just i've never seen a boxlet in real life i'm not gonna pretend like i could do it but we should try it i would like to be the one that just sits in there that doesn't have to do any running. I just sit there and wait for them to get in. What if you're in there and nobody gets in, you just uh what do we do now guys? Like am I steering? What am I doing, guys? You're the steer. Hold on. Hold on. I don't know. Yeah. So winter yeah, winter Olympics is cool. Yeah. Uh but yeah, nothing else on sports, bro. Like Well hope like I said, next time we get back on here we'll we'll we'll try and break down some of the um mock drafts that are going on. Hopefully uh we get some new steeler news, whether that's a signee, whether that's a a guy coming back, whatever it may be. But um we appreciate you guys ju uh tuning in today after the bye week. Yeah. And um we will see when we see you next time, or when then we see you another time, or then we'll see you the next time. Uh or what happens if it happens after that? Then it can be the next time after that. Nice. But we do highly recommend going to see I can only imagine two in theaters, the 20th. I assume theaters everywhere or wherever. Just look it up. It's a great thing called the internet. It's a phone. You can look up where they are. This episode is brought to you by the internet. This episode brought to you by Bart and Mercy Me. Actually it's not, but um anyway, thank you guys for joining us. We'll see you next time. Thanks .
