Do doing things like I've been doing this for a long time. Were you ever scared ake the shot. I love this.! Care we just ch a f down for a second. Get up. comeome this way. He'll like walk right by you go. Ooom, Pussy can't guard you. We're in the three hundred five do that you're so funy. So I just picked it up from you. Yeah. it's just sitting outside organically. This is not here for you. No travels the b. It's dirty th.s like. Yeahah, sorry. I No.. I saw it and I was like, oh, that'll be a fun That is a fun gu. It was fun. It was a fun gu. Oh That's cute. Yeah I'm like the perfect guy height wise to showcase how tall you are. Yeah I'm like the perfect guy. Howall you I don't know. F four. No, no, no, I think I'm five six. Can you touch the ceiling just standing? Yeah. we got there. Well get that dust. We' got some dust, that. Like do you want some water or anything or I mean it would be great. top Water? Water's great. So you're conscious like anytime you're walking into like Yeahah. You know, I've never had to think of anything Never. never. there's no life. There's never any What about like, you know, you go to like a castle and not life know life. You go anywhere. Before you came, Benny was asking. He said, do you think Blake has been Best player of his friends since he was like like by age five, eight did No one? No, That's not what I said. Okay. I said this. I said, were you born exceptional or were you like did it like like when you were five, were you just like every other kid shooting and they were like, Oh, and then like, did you get exceptional? Was there like one year where like you became exceptional? U I don't know. so my dad is a basketball coach, high school basketball coach. So like I've just been I have an older brother who played. like I just I've had a ball in my hand since I could like before I could walk, you know? And then like started dribbling super young So like I think maybe like a little bit like advanced but not like, you wouldn't walk into a gym and be like oh my gos. That's what I'm saying like. what age was it then? I think like maybe when I was young, like ten I have a twelve year old son right now and he's like I think we're kind of like comparable. You go watch him play and he's like, you're like, oh, he's good, but you're not like It it's hard. Like, when you're like twelve, like these these kids on Yeah. twelve. you're like six appreate it. When you were twelve, you weren't like, Oh my go God. I'm like Definitely the division one player. I'm like No Well, not in my mind. I was tall. I was like a foot taller than everybody, but like I don't know. L you're playing against kids in your area. Like I wasn't traveling. Like this morning, this morning I saw a video online of the number one fourth grader See, I hate I hate those like number one grade much Yeah. It's Yeah, and also like kids, some kids are just bigger earlier. Like there was a kid growing up who was like My height in like third grade and he was really good and everybody talked about how he's the best player in the state He didn't, he stopped growing like seventh grade Yeah. And he was he ended being like six one, which like isn't short, but like, That's, you know a lot of people thought he was going to be like the next greatest thing and like, I don't know. I think it like messes up kids like psyche. because they don't follow sports quite like me. No. No, he's like a Savant. But I went to a lot of clippers games when you were playing. Oh, nice. L city. Thank you. What? Lob City. Notity. Oh. Well, there's no Lob City branding in the arena, you know. Yeah was they might have been. I don't think they I don't think they Lob City because basically played Chris Pul who's like really good at. I remember Chris P. Bl Griff's one of the best dunkers in history of basketball. Dunk L me Dunkers. I wouldn't even label you a dunker like that. I'm not gonna speak. I could can speak about your game, Nauseum.ike what's wrong with you? 'cause you're like you're like so like God made you like too perfect. There's gotta be something wrong with you. Like you're like, really need this. He'sest guy He's like you're like the hottest guy and like the best at playing basketball and you can like and you're like funny He's the most you're like funny too. Yeah What's wrong? Is there something like really wrong with you? Oh, he's the fuckking man. You you four Three toes or something. Yeah I got some demons Yeah, what are your demons? I don't know. I don't really do you have demons Um I don't know. I feel like I was just so like As an athlete, like you can't really like focus. Yeah likeike you have to be so like locked in. So like has your world totally been rocked since you've retired and you're no longer knowing?, because I kind of like I started preparing for it pretty early And like just like doing other stuff, you know, I started a production company in twenty sixteen. Yeah My brother and I have a VC font. like so as soon as I retired, I like stepped into all that. so that helps. Yeah Also like I was just like, dude I had nine surgeries like you know ye So I was like, I was feeling it. Yeah. L I feel great for just living life, but like to go play an eighty two gamame schedule, it was like Working out and recovery like was like seventy percent of it Yeah, you know Do you feel free or now? Be like when you're playing an athletic sport like that, do you feel like you have to like eat well, sleep well and you can't live your life like? Yeah for sure. becauseuse like I would I would get like anxiety about if I woke up. I have a problem with like waking up and not being able to go back to sleep. Yeah. Yeah, me too. And like if it's a game day the next day I would be like I would have like, you know, like you have like sleep anxiety, you know like where you'd like talk and you'd be like, a shit, Okay I could get two hours or I could go back to sleep now or like But it all all over time, like you learn how to like, deal with that, you know? I can't imagine like I couldn't sleep last night, but I can take little things to help, but I can't imagine not being able to sleep and then having to go like six Yeah Yeah Yeahah it's just part of it. Yeah, like is there ever like before like the day before like ritual it's like, don't like like I can't have sex the day before. I can't do this the day like is there like my rookie year, I used to like be very, very strict about everything. And then like over time, I kind of learned where I could 'use you you could burn yourself out. Yeah. You know, like one year I was like, I'm gonna eat so strict and I went like three months of just like literally nothing bad. Yeah. No No alcohol, no like very little sugar, like it was like dude. and I fell off the wagon like three months into the season notot drinking wide, but like I just I kind of started eating sh like shitty. You know I'd go to like the hotel like mini bar and have like peanut M and M's and like, you know, that's your learing your next game. Yeah Did you notice a difference Not really. So it was like, fuckingy.ike then from then on, I was like, okay, moderation, like if I like after a game, if I'm like, you know what? I w want pizza. all you. Dude, you're like working out all time. I know, but like was't What's the biggest thing that would impact a game? Like what's like the biggest difference between like this I always sleep, honestly sleep. What if you in a fight before? like like like you're like like No, no, you're like with your signific oers like your pare your parents say someone says has that affected you? You're like there' been times where like something's like going on in my life and I'm literally like at the free throw line and it like pops into my head and I'm like, to shake that off. You know what I mean? I love. And I don't think people think about that because like sayike guys are having like guys are having shitty days and like, isten,'s what I'm saying. We're playing game and guys you get paid to play it so it's like it's all fine, but like also like Sometimes, you know, guys are allowed to have bad days. Can I tell you one of my biggest pet peeves every time I would go went The gam'es a lot with someone and they I forget the player's name, but every time he was Pul? No, every time he would go to do the. A? No. It wasn't me.. It wasn't you Oh, hackash shack No, what's his name? Oh Dnre J? Yes. D Andre Jordan They would mess with him and I felt like I could feel the pressure and I would just like everyone needs to chill out. this man do his jiob. hates She hates that part of the game. She thinks this is completely unsportsed like myenia. Yeah. Oh yes. Ily hate it. And I think it doesn't matter which team you're on, I'm like, let them, you can like do it outside, but when when everyone if you're trying to play like make me cry It interesting because like sport professional sports especially is so much like find the weak link. Yes. It's like exploiting It's exploiting, but it's like,'s competitive. It is like the highest level and like, you know, I don't know. like DeAandre was so good at other things that like Free wasn't his thing and it's like we didn't at it like I don't know, They work much if everyone were just like calm down for a second. Hey, can like just chill this out like They're trying to make this re. I know. There's like so much there's so much pressure. L I think like I play in like a rec league with my friends every weekend. And if I like like like if m my first couple shots, you feel weird shooting your third one Yeah No, Or if like like I put too much lotion on my hands of my or like like ass itches I'm like I'm like like something like anything's such a difference likeike I'm a great wrecker Re Lague player. And then so I would always assume I would dominate celebrity games. Like I was born to just and then. But I also had never really like like played in an arena or like just felt the weight of the depth weight of the depth. pressure of like, you know, this is like being like filmed in a certain way and just like you can't it's not meaningless. So as soon as I got in one of these games, I realized how it's such a different level of pressure So was every like NBA player like who where you're like, oh, that guy sucks it's like they're like, if they're on their own, like in a gym, they're making like every shot. Yeah, because you have to think about like, First of all, there's really good shooters on teams and there's guys that aren't as good and there's guys that aren't really shooters, but also like you're shooting every day. Like even if you're not a shooter, you're shooting every day. And like you got you'll see the things of them going to like pick upp games and like makeaking. Like so the pressure' different. you're not as tired, you're not having to worry about the defensive in. you know, there's like a lot of variles What's the deal with traveling? becausecause it always kind of looks like you guys are traveling. It's I't know that much about relax. So now like The rule is that like when you take a or sorry, when you take a dribble. Oh, I thought you traveling for games. Oh I thought you actually. I don't really know anything about m. I like. But when I watch, I'm like, wait, the only thing I don look like traveling you can't travel. So I don't understand it. Now you can take a dribble and your first step is called zero step. Oh So your first step is not really your first step. So if I If I dribbble and take this step, I still have two steps. Wow. Did they change that because they were like this is too hard to manage. I't It wasn't like a it wasn't like a, hey, we're changing it to this. I think it just slowly happened because everybody was like Yeah. And guys are so their footwork is so good that they can make it look really Yeah seamless. Seamless and also cover a lot of space. Yeah Yeah. it's like you take it stly across the That's where like saaring as well. Carry. Yeah Caring like back in the day, like every guy used to dribble like this they'd be like Yeah Like there was likeike And then like eventually now take it under. And like Ean Iverson was like one of the best and like he would He really he really like kind of like invented certain like cross he kind of like invented like the Hzie. like like what became the Hz Tim Hartwayim Hardway Tim Hardway Taylor cross. Yeah. that one was like the Yeah You You know what I really loved was watching your game just evolve Oh thingsks man. I think about the Detroit, Lake Griffin I'm from Detroit. Well, no I wasorn in Grossse Po, but I've lived in Grand. Groint. Okaykay. You like it there? I I actually enjoyed it. Like I was like It was I had like I'm from Oklahoma, so it kind of reminded me more of that Like where had space and a house and like neighbors weren't like right on top of you and like I enjoyed that part of it because during the season, I don't really like go out anyway. I would just be like Even back when you were young in the prime of Lob City and you're playing you're playing every other day. So like yes, there are somet times where it's like Hey you got a day off next day and so we'll go to dinner, we'll go out But like Not regularly.. When you move to LA, like your complete social life chang. like every guy's fighting to play for the clippers are Lakers, right? No, nobody wanted to play for the cllippers when I got there No, no not yeah, yeah, of course. When it turned the franchise around. Of course. But now but I'm saying. Well, this is like a real self esteemed b onion I come hang out more often dude. When you're in Detroit, it's like, okay, I'm in Detroit. When you're in LA, I don't know if it's ever. I don't know if this exist. I se sixty before. O your stature before. I really that's the thing. I worry about chairs all. Really? Oh I've been at a wedding and like sat down and you know.'t weigh a lot. I know, but still is where? What are you talking about? It was two hundred sixty pounds Okay, you're in Detroit. It's like, okay, cool, we're going out to like whatever like the local bar clubs. Detroit's popping cool. Yeah's about Blake in L.A. No single man. Thats into this.s That's what I'm talking about. You're in L.A. you like like you're world like I remember like, I remember seeing some of my because I don't really remember the first time I did, but I remember like having my friends come out Like to LA.ike I'm from Virginia.ike my friends came out and they like I would like take them to a party and their worlds were like actually like rocked. like someome of my friends like like they they literally, I watched their bodies actually go like this when we walked into places. They'd be like Like like they like they'd like stumble. I used to like text my friends from high school and be like, o Oh my God, you'll never guess who I was like with last night, blah, blah, blah. I still see like NBA players like take my breath away. like now it's like People go to parties to see who they see and get some content not content, but whatever. they get pictures, they get p of. They get like maybe a story to tell on their podcast or it's like that's it very much feels like social interactions or social gatherings now are just to like transactions have clout clout and like a story to tell and a Picture you know, I think it's different. I feel like. It nice to be college for me. Cheers Dude it was just like the best. There was no no cameras, like there was no College is like the most the fun I think I've ever had in my life other than marrying you in my life with you. No So I don't know why clap We could be drinking anything It could be an unhealthy soda It could be disgusting It could be tearing our insides apart or what we could be doing. Just drinking all week. gettingting all the same feelings of a soda, but just having a healthy alternative. It makes me feel good. It makes me feel good. That's why. I think it's good that they're making you feel good. Yeah, I like the taste, but it makes me feel good too. I think that's great. So You're doing a good job. Buy any two cans of Ollipop in store and they'll pay for you and they'll pay you back for one. Any flavor, any retailer. Go to drinkollipop dot com slashes Now Kristin, you know, I've always dreamt of coming to Michigan for a summer. It's all I've ever wanted to do with you since you guys What are you doing? came. I think I'm coming now, and you know what's gonna come with me? I might just have to pack a little friend with me. And this is a white claw peach. And what's that a white claw mango? And what's another flavor we' bring in?' black cherry. This summer is a white claw summer where we're gonna to have fun, We're gonna to grab life by the claw, but we're only allowed to say one word now Fine, Will. en Immediately when we open white claw. Please drink responsively, hardard seleler flavors White claw selzer workor, Chicag, Illino. Cut it out. I'm gonna to s it right now I miss When it was like, you take Polaroid. No, when you would take the picture, like when we were all in high school, we'd like go on spring break, you take the picture. So little camera. Then you go get it develop. I've been like, I have this contacts T three that I love and I've been likes What Contacts like the film camera. camera. sorry sorry sorry. G robot this contacts. He's doing contacts. I didn't course. Are we supposed to know that? I don't know. I feel like you guys were I photography as. thought I thought we were going to photography. Now I feel No, it's like I have this film camera. Go one hundred six. They got disposable forty seven R. Tell us a little bit more about your camera. I wasking talking about this the other night. were I was, I don't know. I feel like when I first started taking film pictures, I would be like very frugal with them. I take a picture and be okay. And now I'm like, I'll just fire off like three different ones of like kind of the same thing in like different settings. Yeah. And it's so cool because it's like you kind of wait to find out if you did good. And it's the other thing too is like your phone is in your pocket and you'll still have the memory. Yeah. And by the way, you get digital files of it too now Sos know what it's I'm not I'm like trying to get better at it. Is this a post retirement hobby or have you always been into this? I like I got like a digital camera, like I like it Oh. I know like a Q three three. Are you like a numbers guy or something? I do like It just made me get two questions. Should we sit on the couch? outside? Where do we go? C you go right there. Let me go corner part it? I don't know. you're a big guy. But you might hit your head. I'm looking right now L like everything to do with your hand on the scalp. But hey, okay, get up. Get up what. lash your hand. We had who came out Karem Oh Kare was itark? You came in here? And had a different fixture back then But literally the first thing that happened was he banged his head on the. And it was like, I felt so bad once he entered becausecause I shouldn't feel that bad. Did he' gota be on? No, no. In there you were talking about, you know how the person's not gonna like it. Do you have insecurities about anything? You do.. What are you insecure about? You have no physical insecurities Actually Physically, I actually do. What So being a former athlete, my toes your feet just get wrecked. I. And I see.. I will I will at some point. I can like insecure about my feet because they're disgusting, so I'll show you after any. At some point I will. Do yours look like a bronze? No, not quite that bad. You got any non physical insecurities? Non physical insecurities. Yeah, I feel like I don't know. I'm always I was always so jealous of like there's a lot of athletes who are just incredibly confident people. and I think that's part of it for some guys. You feel so confident in me. I you, I feel confident in you. T me T me to you. Yeah. I think think I confident to like a certain degree, but like I was a very shy kid. Really? And I don't think people like I tell people that now and they're like You're so extrovert. Yes. I'm actually not. I know. Like you don't like to always be around people. No. Yeah. You have to recharge. I definitely need to recharge. And also like if I'm walking into a situation like alone, like I don't travel with like a posse. Yeah. I walk into a lot of situations like today. like you like walk in And it's just like that thing of like, I don't know how this is going to go. I'm not saying I was like nervous, but'reeting. I think my insecurities are are I think people would be surprised how like I have like pretty normal insecurities. Did you get nervous before games? Like when you walk in No first game first game of my career, like first game of like college or this or that. But after playing so many games and also you play just every like I said, almost every other night, like you kind of just get used to playoff gam. You you got to get nerous Playoff like the first playoff game. Yeah, it's more of like an anticipation less than like a I'm nervous. I always wanted to know this ever scared take the shot. it was gonna to be that never. I loved it. You love That's the thing I missed the most is the big like high pressure moment Like you're ready to you're ready can't do that. because you just can't replicate that really like in other are or I haven't found one that like I don't yeah, it's like the moment is so big and you like, you don't know what's going to happen. like you kind of have your play, but things go out the window and you have to improvise and you kind of like And like it never went through my mind. What if I miss? It was always the what if I make it And like I don't know why, but like that's like the one moment. L even my after my rookie year, I remember the off season, I like had this like lingering insecurity of like What if I can't do that again You know, like what if I can't have a good year? What if I'm not good enough? L even after even after like sort of proving yourself's good That I didn't mind it at all. I you it made you hungry the same way when I'm having the best years of my life. like when I've been the most on top, I'm thinking Oh my God, I'm definitely gonna to get cancer. Like something's something bad. No I you like your life. But what you said which earlier when you were talking about what you miss. I feel like if I if I were An athletic athlete an athlete you're ath was an athletic You were an athlete. You were a I mean like you know playing Griffin. Yeah. The thing I would miss the most would be like the high of that shot. like having that opportunity to like take it and then be like, I fucking's the biggest adrenal. the way the biggest adren. He is a player, even though I always felt like a really clutch shooter and player I hated Last shot. No late game fouline requirements. Oh Oh yeah, thees are to like to likeike scared. Whatn't you didnn't you even a little nerv? I don't even Yeah likeike it' a playoff game. And it the game's tied up. Are you nervous? Yeah Um, you're you're you're I don't know if you have time to like be nervous, you're but you're in your head Yeah yeah definitely in your head. they're like t know' those things the you don't you dont you don't really see after you get used to it, you don't really see it. Should we tell the people that I don't say. I've been doing this for a long. No't the rep is counting. Do you still't get the high like If you play in like a game like a pickup game, do you still get a high? I know it's kind like I don't know if it's sad or not, but like I haven't I haven't even remote come close to playing in a picku upp game since I retired. Really? Yeah you've not played at all? I like shoot around. I haven't played a game. You have to understand too, like You go play like a pickup game and like All right, L like am I going P hard, am I gonna like try? Would I be able to get three dribbles off without you stealing it If you go I don't know. I've never seen you play No No, just picture me, I'm a normal 'use you can just do this like me right now when I was playing. You can just turn your back. No, if I don't turn my back feel good you can you Do you think there's a chance like that I couldn't get three dribbles off? No, I think you can get three dribbles off. Like if you're talking about like in my like when I'm like when I was like playing playing I think maybe it'd be tougher. but you haven't seen you play and you play like basketball is so hard on theen not the m Well I'm sure it's hard on women too, but I like every you guys all play, but you're all you are always like, man, I really wish I could play today, but it's just not worth the risk of like dude, Achilles. All I think about A you guys are all I mean my thirty Yeah my your Achilles thins out and Well, no, it's just like your body, every time you as you get older, your joints have less mobility and like Achilles are compromised like my. And you can't ever get anything back right or something. I mean, you can fix it, but it's like your legs are two different sizees. Even guys in the NBA who have like the best PT guys who have torn their Achilles visibly, you can see how their legs are different sizes. W therever times without disclosing people's names that you would be like because you're on a team sport where you would be like butting heads with a teammate and then you like are like, did you guys ever get on? W there be like little tensions? not huge things then you have to go out and play with each other? I never really had like any type of beef where I was like, this guy. Yeah you get physical on the court though. Oh yeah. you ain't playing against b. Would you ever get a fight? Would you ever get physical and then instantly be like, oit I didn't take any shit. Like would you ever there's never a guy where you get physical and you'd be like, hold. I never got into it with him and like I played with him and playing with James Johnson who's like he's a I was just telling the story. He's a he has, I think nine brothers and sisters. his parents double black belts in Brazilian and Ju Jitsu All of the kids double black belts. So he's like one guy who don'tight Everybody votes like that at least would want to fight Yeah Al always is the one who's always arere you the gu got in with him? No, no, no. We we got drafted the same year We' like Yeah. Were you all bark? no bite? Like, would you ever fought? wereere you ready to fight Yeah, but like it never comes down to. Yeah, yeah. I shouldn't say never, sometometimes it does, because you know I would have been so scared besides like Shaq and the obvious ones, Rashid Wallace. like back in Charles Oakley. Do you remember Charles? Charles Oakley's hands are like probably like a little bit bigger than mine, but like each finger is like twice the width. I bet you got everybody's everybody's like, you know how like some teams have like kind of not gooms, but like they're just the physical gu got all that you feel like coming like you're the you're like So so characteristic and good and strong and he plays sosical phys And he's always being probably guarded by like their most physical gard. you playays so physical He's like he's just s And he's like doing like there's like he's Is that pushing after play? somet I just somet people would test you then you would get back down. You would get tested a lot You early on now. You were like all smiles until and could I would see you go from smiling to just like Yeah, what if I never when I watched I mean and didn't know you. I never once, like when I watched thought like Flake Giffin' a pussy. I was never never other people did. No, no Yeah, it's because you were like a good looking guy. can't But then I felt like you held your own though. everybody have no choice but to be a pussy if you can't fight W No you can't be. You can't be a pus. There's like there's like ways of like becoming like a tougher NBA guy and like kind of a Yeah much interp.. Now I got it. I gott to know's's there's one thing we haven't spoken about that's like so as important to me as game dayay ost game What's happening? Like you guys just wanted you just wanted myights p. Coach comes in, he gives us little post game speech. I'm usually like feet in the ice bath. You're not even listening. Ice on my We're in a three hundred five Yeah, like ice for like ten to fifteen minutes and then shower if I need to get any like, I don't know, sometimes you have like something and you're like, yeah, Go to the trainer or get your condom. let me get some small one.. let's go inside. Okay, Let's go inside.,'s go inside. Let's go. Wash my head.,h my head. Wash Everybody wash your head. Everybody dug down. T didn't rub hismstring or something I'm get some water. I'm gonna go sit on the couch. Okay, you guys go on the couch. Blake I'll see you up. I appreciate it. Oh yeah, grracious host. Ohoh, I like the giraffe. Oh ye the way that that draft stands inspires me side' gonna crd. Ready to take on the day. I literally thought you were gonna say the way that draft stands reminds me of you. That I something better than water. I'd be hon. Howb about lollipop One left. so I came in here with the right intention. I was gonna to give Blake an ollipop and someone's been drinking all the ollipops. I don't know who it is. I don't think it's Blake because he's new here. It couldould be Benny, could be Kristen. Either way we have one left. And so even though I came in here with the right intention of giving one to Blake, I'm kind of rethinking everything and I do have a meal I'm going eat at the end of the day that is going to be way better with a cold olllipop, pecially blackberry vanilla, add's a great flavor So Blake might just have to make d with filtered water. I'm sorry, Blake. What's what's like, you know, you say you got the camera. What's another hob do you have any hobbies I play golf. Are you good? I'm okay. Are you good at every? Do you have to be good at kind of everything Like when you're say okay. likeike what's your handicap? Like a nine. Okay Okay so you're good. talking golf? That's good.king. No, that's good. I started like playing like four and a half years ago and like got obsessed with it. But you would be good like Like football, like you'd be played football, basketball, baseball, soccer growing up. Like you're good at all of those. Could you have gone professional at any of those, you think? I think maybe football. Yes Yeah. So your son is how old twelve Do you want him to Do only I truly mean this only if he actually wants to do it. Is he into it? He loves sports. loves on his own. loves basketball, loves football. And are you like secretly though I just my hope for him is like if he does want to play professionally or even in college, like that he's like really loves it because it can get it can get it can get a little brutal especially with how people talk to people. I feel like it's not really spoken about how often like athletes are just like it's carte blanche to fully dehumanize them and be like He, fuck you Blake, like You're a fucking weak Yeah Yeah. And like you're supposed to like Yeah you have to It'll be like a kid sitting courtside like talking shit to you and you're just like the fuck was It's like the elevator theory of like you don't ever say to somebody during a basketball game or a sporting event that you wouldn't say if you were trapped in an elevator with them Could you lose a big game? Maybe even Maybe a playoff game. that's not you're not eliminated by a big playoff game. And could you lose that game and go home and Have a pleasant evening? No. Yeahah. no are like sick. Y specially a playoff. but a regular season game, you couldbe a regular season game over time. Like some are hurt more than others. likeike if you play really bad and you lose. Yeah yeah, yeah Um That's not to say like if you lose you play good, but like if you play bad and you lose, you're like D that was my fault. How long til you can like kind of recalibrate and like be back to like, all right, I'm like not gonna let this eat me up anymore? I think it'll always stay with you a little bit. One year in the playoffs, we were we were supposed to do really, really well and like ended up losing, I think in the second round to Oklahoma City Um, and ha like had had a chance to beat them And the after that series, I literally I had like two of my buddies were staying with me. I we like woke up every day went to my theater and watched Game of Thrones and like watched, I think I watched like six seasons in like literally five days. Like we would just lock ourselves in there and we would order food and just Yeah. b I love hearing Yeah. There's tears, too not proud ye. Yeah yeah. There's not regular season games, but playoff act like like, you know, you're a part Lve City, the cllippers's one of the like kind of like the most famous like winning that that didn't do it? Like arere you going to be haunted by that or not really becausecause you're like, fucking I'm like Griffinans like a Hall ofame career. Yeah, like bummed for sure. Like I look back and I'm just I'll see like highlights or I'll see something now and I'll be like, I wish I wish I could have just done this or I wish I could have like been a little bit better at that or like You know, it's not like it's not to the point where I'm like It's not like dread. Like I'm not like sitt there dwelling on it, but like, yeah, it bums me out that. we never. Do you think you think about it Every week Once a week, yeah, probably. Really? Well, you think about you like I think about his legacy. Also like in my house I have like my jerseys and you see like the cllippers jersey Yeah. L so it's not like that I'm sitting there being like, damn, or I'll just kind of be I don't know if once a week might feel a little bit too much. I definitely like think about it you think about it but you're not like so heavily impacted by it.Quarterly. quarterly sad session Yeah KFC box Feast. Why don't we each pick one? I took a shower, came back and I see a missed call from him and a voicemail. and so I clicked the voicemail And it's him and he goes Hey, cooach, just left Blake's house. We had a good talk, some really interesting things. I was like Oh man. I was like, oh my Godd.'t. First of all, I can't believe he fucked up that bad because that's really fucked up.. I Very, very rarely But there was one time where We were like in New York and like A blizzard was coming in And we're like, the game might get cancellled. we go we go to New York and then there's like one of those like restaurant turns into it. It's like game seven. We don't have like we don't the song's like not done. We don't have it like you got deadline for an album orad. do like a week with an artist at like a cool studio or something, and then like, they won't be booked on that Monday and then'll know it's like' their last chance for a while to work wh thing they're working. Yeah. Or like when we were doing all those kanye albums We would where he was making them in like seven days. Yeah. It'd be like it'd be like Was he really? Yeah, It'd be J. It it'd started day seven, zero vocals zero, zero for the whole album. And he be coming would be coming to the release party would be like eight AM that night and' be like, I don't know how that's going to happen. vocals And we go like this. Wed go like this. I remember we were doing the Kid S ghost one, the ones with the one with Kid Cutdy. o And we're sitting there And he did it at like this ghost town far away. And like you went to that one. Oh was that the one out in like Yeah Yeah. Yeah, ye Yeahah something crazy far and I'm sitting and I'm sitting with Yay and it's the night before and We're like about to start recording all the vocals. and he's like I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted And he said, it was like five PM. And he was like, I'm gonna go sleep. I'm gonna come back at three AM. and I'm gonna cut until the next day until we do it. We had no vocals, just scratch vocals came back at three AM. he cuts the whole thing. We it's It's Like seven PM, the thing starts at eight PM We still like there's so much left to do. like I'm in this room. there's like a glass case where you are like like like a glass like window where you are So you can see through. And you see guys, like all the people that work for them, guys have like two phones like you see people like yelling And he's like and he's like he's like, playay it again. and we're like listening to reborn And and he listens to his verse and he's like Again. Again, and he listens like ten times. And we're like, and I'm like, what's he listening for? And he stands up and he's like Man, he's like, I'm fucking dope. Like in there he's like, I just he's like, I just had to realize how good I was Yeah again. And then we get in the car he's still We're recording vocals on a laptop on the way there, putting them into them. Like a lot of it was recorded just on like sometimes it was recorded on a cell phone and we just put it in. You would change it the day after Yeah the day after. Yeah yeah. And then we get there. And it's like those times they're so electric because it's like and like for me Every time I'm turning in an album for anyone, whatever it is, I'm like I always leave it kind of till the last minute because I like I like to fidd. I like to fiddle so much And I like you like the I like the rock. I want the ball. Yeah when it's when its when it's time to go Yeah and it's like there's you could pass it to anyone. I want I want the rock. I want to shoot the three every time ten out of ten. Me too I would love to be past the ball and shoot it and make it Shoot on it Is there a hoop? Oh, you're the hoop?? almost a hoo. Oh Really? Yeah. go p a man like you. dust. Who was the hardest guy you ever had to play against? likeike that was just like, o, I can't believe I gotta play and the night both in terms of Guarding Guarding, but I also mean like fear No You you heard no I heard no man. You fe us a little. I do feel A little bit.. who did you feelar Man, I don't it's like a good course. I mean, there was like really the thing was you like love playing against the best player. Yeah. So it's like There were some guys that were just like more physical and more like harder to guard that were just like it was like, damn, that sucks. Yeah. But like like the Tim Duncan, when I first got in Dirk and like L Marcus Aldridge was slash. So he was so good. So good the mid range. They like he was But I loved playing Was there any kid like you guy that like just so happened. It was like his last year when you were that you grew up like watching every like as a kid and you like are playing like your hero Yeah, I mean, dude, my like first like real like welcome to Welcome to the NBA Ment We're playing San Antonio in a preseason game. It's my first preseason game. And we're in San Antonio and I'm doing the court warm upp early like I talked about. Yeah. And I'm like going through stuff and I turn and I look at the other end and Tim Tim Duncan is warming up beah,' be the nicest man. You' be Duncan. He is the sweetest person ever, but he's also like, you have to understand it Since I was nine years old, I've been watching. He's like warming up and I turn And I literally just stopped And I like watched him for a second. my coach was like I was like, oh, yeep. they keep working. And it hit me in that moment that I was like, holy shit. this is my dream. I'm about to play against Tim Dungan. It was a preseason game. S anything to him'm like, man. You said did you say anything to him like did you say like, you're my' out? You know what? Yeah, you ever fall in love with a woman? Like like when you're like like How never happened you're like drraing things down onn the sideall in love with a woman. It' definitely like when you're like young and single and like, you know, especially in LA, like she's sitting court side in like usual extra like pet. Wait Have you ever gotten a date off of a girl sitting courtside and you're you don't have to say a name, but like you're dribbling down and she's there and you lock eyes and you like D after. Yeah not even DM. Maybe you go up. No, he's a class actor. No. He's a profession. There's not something not classy about that And Yes, N're not classy, but. Wasn't it crazy goingo against KG Yeah. He was probably so intense on dude he dude. he was because he like talks to himself like he'll talk shit, but he's he's He's like, He'll like walk right by you build Pussy can't guard Yeah He's talking to himself. So you're like you're like You're like, am I a pussy? A I say the pussy in the equation? Okay. Wh nots the most. He also before games. he would go sorry, he would go. Yeah. He would like pull his jersey out buck. Yeah. chest. you're just like, what the f You good l? I don't know. G It's intimidation. I worked on. You'd just be like wait, that's the sweet. I would change my jears, Ohh yeah. smell, don't say it't Yeah was Does Yokt sweat a lot He. He's like kind kind of a sweaty guy. Yeah. But like dude, look look at SGA. lookooks like he never sweats Yeah and be light In terms of the family I played with Andre Drummond, he would change his uniform. He would wear four different jerseys. W wow. I would change at halftime because I sweat a lot. Does everyone change at halfime? not no, but I am like a my whole fit like my dad and my brother and I all sweat. Like when I work out in the summer, I would take like three shirts. Listen. And I would like change shirts like during the workout Wow. Its it's weird. Have you ever used your sweat to your advance the game? By the way, free throw, free throw. Yeah Yeah. If the other team shooting the other teams shooting. So like, you know, you're at the block and you like I would go like this Yeah back to the ref. and sometimes the ref wouldn't notice and then you would you know that. Oh yeah. Hey, did you do do you the f? I anything are you ever like when they're shooting Pussy?? Like do you ever do that or no, no one does that ambi No I would always do like I would always kind of like, why was why would why wouldn't someone do that at all? biggest crunch timee moment. I feel like I' never done. I feel like it's just you use like you guys will talk talk parting during like Yeah, you're definitely like, no the farting like like w like right before the free throw. like ites like there's definitely times where you're like walking and you're like, oh, somebody's farted. like, you know there's like nine other guys that I don't know who it was. Why is there not a guy like going like this? Like like like was about to shoot the freerow and' like Yeah Like like I mean guy was like pusy in the ABA, I never experienced it, but I'm sure like in the ABA they're Iess see like Yeah, I could see like JR Smith doing something like that. Remember when he untied a guy's shoes Yeah l. Do you believe there's a line toross with personal trash talk? hundred percent There's certain things like you shouldn't like can' you can't take things like shouldn't say anything about anybody's family. Yeah. L really like You shouldn't in the NBA, especially because of just the word, like you shouldn't call somebody a bitch. Really likeike it happens. but like you like everyone calls everyone a bitch. Yeah. Really, they're all just s. You never call anyone. I mean somebody will be like, Yeah, But like I mean, That's not to say, guys definitely do. That's not like crossing the line, but it is like one of those things that will escalate h from like normal trash talk to like, oh, it's like heated now. Yeah. I a bit. You definitely you can say that, but like it will take the trash talk. it will take the whatever is happening up to another level. wasn't there like a Chris Paul locker room fight situation That was like's all myth No, no, it was like, is that your seam So that was when CP left to go to Houston. Right and We are in the locker room. CP and Austin Rivers had like gotten into it. I think Austin said something. This is this is like what I Um, And then so I mean, CPD was just on our team. So the the away locker room at Staple Center now and the Clippers' locker room is like right next to each other. There's just a hallway that separates the two. So we just went out the side door and they tried to come talk to Austin. and it ended up being like the exact same thing you see on the court of like a group of us a group of them was just like, yeah yeah. And then everybody wass like,, and like nothing happened. It was like really blown out of proportion in charge of the Free game music. Like whose iPod gets to go Oho in the locker room? In the locker room Yeah. um Us the threads Did they trust your taste So okay, so pre game locker room, you're not really playing music. No like weight room at the practice facility and stuff, you're playing music. Why don't you just listen to your own? Everyone has to listen to the same? You can. Yeah. So in the locker room, there's usually not music. guysu are using their headphones just because guys w to But like practice facility and stuff, like yeah, I would like is it showers in there where everyone can see everything? Some of them, like whyy would they still be that way Well, some of the home lockerom, when you go on the road because the visor locker rooms aren't nearly as nice as the homees them be. It's like, let's like' seen you've seen your whole team naked Yeah I mean, at some point every Yeah. Oh, wow. I mean, you kind of like it's unavoidable. You're in the locker room, you have to change. showers are like Like there's probably, I mean, wow. Pb Are there any guys who are like camp where they're scared, they turn around and like toaby us from arrested development. Yeah N Yeah there any are there any guys who who li There's definitely like guys who are shower with bathing suit oness cavalier about it. Yeah. No one's ever showered the bathing suit on that you've seen. No, no, no. That would be crazy. I would if I was in the NBA. There's definitely some guys that are like, you know, you like you're just more like there's a few guys who were just Yeah just just walking in the frame. I used to dread going to bed every night because I had to brush my teeth and brushing my teeth would take twenty five minutes with my rituals. Yeah. Tk a lot of time. And like So after games, like like's like Did you ever have to have a social att? D Did a coach ever have to have a talk with one of the players and be like, hey, man, you stink. nobody is.y the way, I'm sure it has happened, but nobody I ever played with. Every time I watch an NBA game, I always I can't believe they make these men they're slow ten.'re like they have guys. the bigest of athletes in the world like not necessarily pound per pound, but size height wise. And we also have to move so dynamically and we have these smallest resting. We of lazy boys Beuse thatill every seat. Yeah every seat All those courts side seats are two to six to eight k Are you wearing a brand new pair of shoes every game? Almost. Why? Isn't it better when they're worn in No because the I mean, if you think about like My weight. Yeah. Like I can break a pair of shoes in and like the heat know from your foot, like break a pair of shoes in likeike break break a pair of shoes. You can break them in so easily Yeah. They' like once I go out and do my thirty minute warm upp and do my lift and then go out for warm upps again. My shoe is completely broken in. You never have them at your level. You weren't like ever annoyed. like you would never like get in fights with your coach about like playtime, right? Like that doesn't happen. N not really playing time. like but like as I gu said I got old, like yeah I mean you that happens all it guys are most guys are a little bit upset about their playing time. unless you're a starter well top two or three starters usually they're playing enough where you're like It doesn't matter But everybody else below that, I mean you it's basketball. you want to play. Yeah. And so it's like it's kind of like it's not a bad thing. It's like a healthy As long as you're having a healthy conversation about it. Who do they complain to? Like that I mean, yeah you'll talk to coaches, you'll talk to mayaybe yourre agent will call the GM, like general manager yourour season that you probably had the least playing time was what Celtics or something? That was like the only year that you ever experienced that level of playing time right? Yeah, the year before in Brooklyn, I was like kind of in and out a little bit, but that like was it enjoyable still to be a part of an NBA team and watch playing or was it just kind of torture? Yeah, it's fun being with the guys, but yeah sometimes torture A little bit like just like being like, I wish I could be out there, you know? Is you say can't you No, But you have to choose. you also have to be like self aware and be like at that point in my career, I was like, yeah, I mean, there's better there's guys that can, you know, so it's wait, is there any guy in the bench that never played? Oh yeah. Yeah. so multiple And they show up every day and they sit out there and they wait. There's some guys there's a guy that they they're getting paid a lot.. There's some guys getting There's some guys that get to play that they have on the team just like for almost like moral support. likeike that was that guy they got back on the wasasn't the next or someone. They brought someone R Gibson might have been this year like an older it was recently they brought back an older guy. It's called locker room guysy. Yeah. So it's like an older vet who's like, especially the younger teams need like somebody older who's a good guy and like Yeahah, you didn't know J has That is the swest team team spirited thing I've ever heard How come It's so common in basketball. Wow, you're really feeling the game. Yeah. I feel it. It feels good. You just put him on this guy's hand. he can't stop. He can't stop. I did notice when you stood up though, your knee made a sound. It made a. Itid it hurt? Both of no. Iar thatard I heard tw Both times standing up max. My ankles knees. you eat so much? You're so tall. I was just thinking about this. You eat so much? I was just thinking about it. I used to eat a lot more. Yeah when you're like playing games, are you eating like thousand calories It six thousand five hundred calories a day. Yeah. Yeah. like sixty five. Yeah. Like if you're playing a game after a game. Maybe it's maybe seven thousand does it have to be healthy? fun. I mean, it doesn't have to be, but it helps. Isn't there like some NBA player who says all he eats is like Sour patch kit? What was or is it NFL? was Lamar own ate a lot of candy Yeah. Jamal Crawford, he won'tind me sh. He's like a candy He would get on the plane with like a bag of just like Candy all in the bag. It's like when I got like his iPad headphones and candy. When I first used Bell Yadi He drank Candy, Like seven to ten sodas a day and only candy. And then one time he called I think I still have the voice voice no.
