Welcome to the Game of Rosers! This is the game of Roses Welcome to the game . Welcome to Game of Roses. This B kids This is Bachelor Clues. I'm Coming back down to Earth after being on Cloud nine Past couple days. Is that where you were? Is that what that me? It was my aial expression. Yes. was in the nine face. I was in the cl. in the. You should be I mean, you'll find out why in our first clip, but in addition to that first clip, some of you may follow some of my other projects. O of them is called the Necessary Conversation. Something absolutely surreal happened a couple of days ago Hunter Biden went on Candace Owens show and talked about necessary conversation with her. Unsolicited. Believable.. is a necessary head Yeah. I mean Absolutely wild. I know's huge It was very got to get. Yeah, we'll see. we'll see. I'm sending some emails, but no, it's been a weird couple of days alsoso added to that list You're going to see in our very first clip of this digging deeper. was another surreal mention of this podcast Game of Roses and by extension, the pit all of us here today listening to this and watching this. we're going to get to that As did I We're going to have that clip. It's of course season fifty sururvivor champion Aubrey Brocco talking about. audiences essentially. We are also going to have clips from Bachelor Happy Hour, who the guest on a lot of these clips was Care Fetman, who is the stylist for the Bachelor for Shit, I don't know how long. I don't a really long time. Yeah, very long time. decades We've also got clips from Zoey McGrady clips. I forgot about that on She's all Batch We've got some clips also. Oh, that's it Weve got clubs from Bachelor Hay Hour, Cry Fetman oey Mcr And this first clip, we're going to start right now. This is Aubrey Brocko on Rob Sesterino's podcast. Rob has a podcast talalking about her big win and attributing some of what her pre game strategy was to us to the work we do here On Game of Roses. Are you ready, Pacecase? No Well, you have to be because we're watching this now I'm curious to know how much other prep did you do Oh my gosh, I did I prepped for puzzles, Rob. I did some motion The other prep is like I took myself out a survivor for seven years when I knew that I could be playing Rob, I listen to so much of you over the past year, so much prep for you. Also like this is the other prep I did is there's a podcast for theel Bachelorette called Game of Roses. I know of it, Yes. They talk about audiences and I'm a marketer. And I said to myself, you're gonna go out there and you're gonna to win this game. and the way you're going win this game is to remember that the only audience that matters if you're going to win are the other players. And I said to myself, I'm not worried about maybe in the best TV. And I'm not worried about like the production side, the audience of the players. So that and there's a guy's named Nick Metzler doodles from Got to getet O, That show where they're all stuck in mananion have to escape who talked about like when you make moves at different points in the game. I like randomly studied stuff he said and that helped too. I studied everything. I just took it all in. After time away to take it all in, you come back with a differentpect. It's incredible. I did not know so much of that. What? We Wh weeedred around the world and also around my mother in law's birthday party last night when it came out and I showed everyone. They're all like one survivor. O's Sadula? Do you know Who want Survivor? Well, look at this. Doodles I know who Doodles is because I watched that whole fucking show, Gotta get out in Clue's Cner. I forgot that that show existed. Yeah. future mayor of Los Angeles Spencer Pratt was in that show too Oh than so. Um How to break this down? First of all, congratulations to Aubrey on winning I guess the most historic season in survivor history And I would say, you know, yes, all these strategies and stuff are important I would say my main takeaway from what she talked about was buying the Sotion machine on Etsy and practicing in her backyard is whyes It's such a level of foresight to have that like Survivor fifty, of course, is going to have some very iconic challenges in it That is one of the most iconic It was perhaps luck of the draw that it it was the challenge she needed to win to get the immunity Iidol to go to the finals. I mean, that's like you can't even script that kind of shit But u Brilliant, just like a genius level of preparation for this game and to now hear that she's listening to all these podcasts and thinking about strategy and all this stuff in these different kind of ways and taking strategy tips from people like us, from Doodles, from obviously Rob Sesterino. people who are like studying these games are seves included, at a pretty high level, I would say, or at least maybe an unhealthy level, you could call it, I guess, as well Yeah, we spend a little bit of our brains filled with bachelor stuff just a little bit. Well, I'm also now in terms of the audiences that she's talking about I have like done a lot of kind of u I don't want to say scrutiny. I've kind of evolved the theory of it as I've been coaching players for a variety of different games now The four audiences holds. like I'm really surprised by that actually when we first kind of coined it and started talking about it and stuff I was like, this will evolve. There'll probably be more audiences or one will fall away or something. This can't be like as pristine as it seems in idea form But it is is what I've found for all these other games. There are clearly games that don't have a first audience Although you can make an argument There's always an implied first audience. And that is like in Survivor, for example It would be like like the episode where Jonathan has the immunity necklace and he's the one going between the two tribes and he effectively is going to be the deciding vote. He has the most power in that councsel. he ively is the first audience You need to get him on your side depending on whatever you want to do in course of the game, whether that's not vote for you or vote for somebody else that you w off or however you want to sway the game, there is usually one player in a survivor cycle that has like more influence than other people, that could effectively be your first audience Yeah, but I would say that's the same with every second audience too. like If you're in bachelor the Fimp Rse recipient, for example, or like the person who's clearly a front rununner might have more sway in the group in terms of like group dynamics than U you know, a floadater. Yeah, possibly. this is, you know, theoretical Yeah, but there are certainly games where the audiences affect one another Survivor Third audience and sururvivor, I would say is probably like or any open game B Bother The challenge, whatever. If we are to believe that these games are on the up and up, the third audience doesn't have as much power as it does in a game like Bachelor. However If you look at games like Love Island, and this is the only one that I can pinpoint that is like this The fourth audience actually has power over the third All of these other games They're shooting it months in advance, editing it and whatever. And so the fourth audience's power really doesn't affect the actual game construction. It can affect subsequent seasons, like with a grocery store Joe or something. He's a night one guy, but the fourth audience pops off and is like, we love grocery store Joe. Now he's in every Bachelor in Paradise from here on out. So he's hosting the official Bacheloration podcast It fix their social media games. Yeah Well, that is the fourth audience. The fourth audience is social media But I mean, they can vote in Love Island. That's not social media. That's what I'm talking about That's why Love Island, the fourth audience affects the third because you saw it with Nicelandria The fourth audience was like, no, we love them. And so the producers were just like, okay, get them back on the show That was us for in together U and no other game that I'm aware of is constructed like Love Island. So the fourth audience doesn't have as much power in other games as it has in Love Island, at least in terms of the construction of the actual product, the game itself. Yeah. And you're saying if the polls are on the up and up in L Island as well as You know, I think Third audience has such huge power in Love Island because they choose when certain things happen. Absolutely. And it's like, yeah, the fourth audience can vote for their favorite female they're only going to do that at a certain time when the poll results are going to do what the producers want hundred percent hundred percent. Ultimately in all of the love games, the third audience is kind of like where the buck stops. They are making all decisions in terms of like you're talking about first impression rows, That's a third audience decision. Yeah That's not final Well, that's the interesting thing about Bachelor is that they pretend Like all these things are first audience decisions. Yes, that are third audience, like who's going on the dates, who's getting all the roses. And that's why if you get a little bit of training before going into bachelor, you utterly dominate it. becausecause a lot of even players, I think, who don't have like formal training quite understand that part of it until they're like halfway through a season and they're like, wait a minute, what I thought the bachelor made all these choices. It's like, Oh no. That's produced. And take things personally or like take it personally that you're the last rose to be called. Sit like that. Exactly My summer calendar has suddenly become Dinners, weddings fishing trips, my new Burnding Man AK, the Minnesota State Fair And every time one pops up, I think, what am I going to wear? That's why I always end up on revolve Revolve is my go to when I don't want to overthink it. everything' styled in a way that makes sense. so it's already curated. And so like in this case in Survivor Aubrey wanted to win the game I also like my coaching preference is never really about winning the game unless that's overtly what a player is like, That's all I care about. I'm always trying to coach people to fame because I think that game, that kind of metagame of being famous is way more important. It's way more in terms of like finances and stuff, you're going to make way more money if you are super famous that like she won a two million dollar prize half of that's going in tax, et cetera, eter If you get A couple million Instagram followers or something. two million bucks You're making that in a few years And if you get famous, you're going to be invited on other reality shows, so on and so forth. You'll have more opportunity to potentially in other shows In a game like Survivor though, is that social media number possible That's one hundred percent hundred percent If you are on a screen, any number is possible. pereriod. You just have to do what you have to do to get that bame Auby played a different kind of game. She was going for one hundred percent winning sururvivor and she obviously did that brilliantly. She won fucking survivor the her play style was a little subdued She had to like bounce around from tribe to tribe. She really or at least in the edit that we were presented She never really presented like a a kind of TV character identity She was just there like surviving, if you will until the very final round and she got lucky that the thing she trained was the final challenge they had to do, but clearly also she did so much pre season work. looking into strategies and listening to podcasts and all of that. So you know, it wasn't by luck that she won this game. It clearly was by preparation. Yeah and the amount of time she had played the game, the experience she had under her belt All of those things. I I don't know, I just prefer the fame play always over the victory play. It's a person choice. Clearly Yeah, you know, you prefer or bombastic Devins stle that would think is disgusting. And you know, that's two each their own. I prefer disgusting play ye. Yeah, I I think At least for Audrey, it is don't see these players in sururvivor getting huge num So to me, I'm like it totally makes sense to do the two million dollar play. No, totally. And in the pantheon of kind of survivor greatness too, I think a lot of players who play sururvivor or Big Brother, these kind of legacy overt games, there is a kind of prestige that comes with like getting your name on the fucking trophy going down in the history books. That's a piece of why a lot of those players play the game. Risgot is like that. He's like I just want to leave my mark on the game and be you know, an influential player And all that's fine., If that's your goal, you know, great, more power to you My goal in coaching though, is always at this point, it's to produce legacy reality players Which doesn't even necessarily mean you win any game, you're ever in But you just toew I mean, yeah, technically Nickeolandjry is I mean, I didn't coach Nicollandjury. I'm not suggesting that, but Theyre like that. I would argue you know Carolyn Weiger from season three of Traders is like that. She didn't win, but she popped the fuck off that show. Pilot Pete is kind of like that from season two Kitab is like that There are plenty of players who are like that. and I just think that it gives you a I mean, what Aubrey has done arguably, I guess will also give her entree to probably be on traders to you know come back for some future All star show in five years or something on Survivor C certainly winning puts you in those categories too I think the bigger game in my opinion is developing at least a decade long reality television career where you're on some show, at least one show every year Yeah. and I You know, she's talking about basically ignoring the third and fourth audiences here And I do think with a different edit, and perhaps that's because of currying favor with the third audience it would have been maybe narratively more enjoyable watching her run because I feel like we didn't even like see ITM's from her in the first half of the season. Yeah. And clearly she's a studied player Clearly she was bringing stuff to the table that's left on the editing floor for what reason I don't know There's definitely a discussion of the survivor community about Men versus women kind of stuff Yeah. But like that Etsy thing was I mean, just genius And you look back like you're saying in the edit of the season likeike that clip should have been the very front of the season one hundred percent. And then it plays out it's it's foreshadowing, you know. And I think she probably I can only assume in her ITMs and stuff was talking about how much research she did in the podcast she listen to, all this kind of shit builduilding a character that's like, I came here to win. I am the most prepared player of anybody here. I don't care what their strategies are. I know the math, I know the strategy I've practiced, I've done all this shit I think that gives me a leg up to dominate. And then that becomes her story. Now Survivor is shot like Bachelor They shoot it months ahead, they have months to edit it, and then it's aired So they know who wins during the edit process the narrative they gave us of her basically not existing in the first half of the season is fucking bizarre to me Yes I don't know why you would do that because I imagine then you have like fourth audience people being like, o, so and so should have won because of the edit that they're presented It's a very strange decision to me I saw I don't know who he was talking to Jonathan was talking to Entertertainment Weekly or something. He' was doing some interview, and I saw a clip of it where we started crying and basically said you know, I go back and I think like I ask God, what am I supposed to learn from this experience And he's like and I can't think of what it is because I think I played the better game and I think I should have won. And like that then is that why he got the it and it becomes that whole thing of what you're talking about. There's a big kind of theory online that in the editing of all Survivor seasons, it's either about the triumphant victory march of a guy or It's how did this guy lose to this one? And it the story is always around a guy losing or winning. It's never about a woman winning. I mean, Tiff brought it up in talking about that tribal council where she's like, why is everyone coming at me as a big threat for winning three things when Joe also did? Exactly, exactly Exactly we know what the reasons are. Yes, it's expected that a guy should win Let's puse. other thing misogyny racism. Yeah, of course Um, you know, Mar Burnett is the creator of Survivor? donon't forget Let's move on. A our second clip. Once again though congratulations to Aubrey.
