This is Pacecase This is Bachelor Clues I'm back He's back, baby I'm back for the time being. and I have imbibed H episodes up to this point anyways Perfect match. season four on Netflix We are going to be recapping episodes six and seven, giving out our awards as well at the end of this episode. Did you make your parents watch What's that? Did you make your parents watch in the heartland? No, I don't believe that would have been possible. What we are going to do though is talk a little bit right now about general feelings because we haven't really done it. We've done it a little bit in our Patreon, we're watching the episodes of Back and stuff But generally speaking What is your take on season four Look, I think they've I did a top ten takeaways episode last week and I about kind of how I think They've improved the show, especially since season three and Dincentivized like just linking up right at the beginning and sticking with that person However, My favorite people have not been getting screen time Nick was completely disappeared in this dump terrible. Uh Kit Kat and Cassie I mean, I just think they should have been o Gs. I did get a little bit bored in past episode we were watching There wass also a long episode, It was an hour and fifteen minutes and that episode should have been about half an hour. Yeah. I mean I'm But I like the inception shots of the doubled landscape. I like that they don't have an elillimination the first night I still think it has this problem that all of these shows have where it's not you know, a bachelor style game of attrition where it's like it gets pretty boring towards the end when no one's going to pivot I agree with that. I will say right out of the gate. I think the show looks and feels much more like Le Isiolland. that level, but it's more in that direction than other perfect match seasons have been. I think And like in what ways? That helps it. It's like sexier. They're talking about sex a lot more. even visually, like the way it shot seems to be a little upgraded to be. I could be wrong about that, but it feels like thats good Yeah, looks good like you're saying, the little mirrrored kind of transitions, the interstitials that they're using, I think work very well. It has an interesting kind of elevated visual style I like all of that, and it is a fun show to watch. I have liked every season of this show Mhm. moderately, enough to watch. You know what I mean? The way you described it was it's an appetizer to loveve Island and I think that's the best way to describe it. It's like do a little taste I don't think about it when it's not on unlike Love Island, which I'm thinking about every day. But if you think about these players that are on this show How many of them could compete at a love Island level It's like maybe two or three Most of the kit cat. Yeah. I mean, Cassie was on the violin She competed But a long time. He sllepp with the ra rush Oh w on the camera Nice Congrats to her. Oh yeah I watched that, didn't I? Am I insane? Yeah, it was. H second season. season six. USA. She was a late mom show. Yeah, but she wasn't like a main character of that season. They're not She had been on the previous season She was no D. on season five. It was a long time ago Yeah. and season five obviously wasn't as big as season six. That season six is when like that show exploded and everybody got super famous I just feel like they are casting a little bit of a B team level players. Defin So that makes it like kind of boring to watch and like you're saying We had an hour and fifteen minutes of this episode and it was kind of episode seven anyway. And it was a little bit like watching paint dry. There's not a lot of like There's not a lot of good play happening and it is, I think, because the game is constructed kind of poorly. It doesn't incentivize good play Mhm. Like in Lve Island, when they're like, okay, now whatever the challenge is, you know what it's going to be. We're going to dump slime on you and we are going to see your ass and potentially genitals That's every challenge So and the players know they got to bring it, you know There's no genitalia on Love Island, to be clear, but Didn't we see boners and stuff S boners throughrough the panel through the pants. Yeah In that case, I'm seeing genitalia every day I mean, you on the street f fair point. But I'm saying like in Love Island, they're like They don't shy away from that. and in fact, it's encouraged. like Everybody's wearing a thong. They're doing stight the whole. I remember when Po was doing a twerk on somebody A waterfall the challenge. I'm just saying this show is like tiptoeing in that direction, but it doesn't go as far as L Isiolland goes. And so it's kind of like, what's the point? This is just a little, It's a little thing to tide us over until the main course gets here. All that said, I'm enjoying it still. I love seeing Nicoet do anything. I like getting to see Demari come back. I like seeing Brie get to come back finally. No in this I should have seen B in the house I ab agree And that to me is like kind of amateur hour reality TV producing They're like we'll bring her in halfway through the season and she'll break up their relationship's.s like are there from the very fucking beginning. So we can see the fireworks the entire season so that Marissa and Be have to have some sort of relationship. Did they even meet They didn't even meet. I don't think so. It's like how last season they did Clayton and Rachel Recia. Yeah. I forget which one was brought as the bombbs show. I think she was But they weren't cle from the beginning. I don't think memory serves. but even that season have like you had a leads from the Bachelor franchise in it There's nobody like that in season four No, I mean, you're biggest social media people are, you know, you have Jimmy Sotos who has a lot of TikTok followers. you have Alli who is like thirtieth cast member on Vander Prump Bules, although I have been enjoying her play a lot. Me too. She's one of my favorites. Yeah, it is I mean, that's the advantage the Perfect Match has. We talk about Bachelor, Bachelor has legacy. Perfect Match doesn't have that, but they do have The Netflix pool of players. Yeah That's what they should be leaning into get the best people from those totally agree. And I think there is some miscalculation happening in the casting too. That's like if somebody's been on perfect match once, we can't really put them on there again. I'm like Earry Josy should be in every season of this show. Yes. Lou live at the perfect Match manansion. Yeah, Louis. Well Louis's in a relationship now I think they broke out it Oh did they I think so Well, yeah, and where was he? Well he probably was in a relationship during this, but. U, I totally agree Dom, like Georgia, if any of those people are single Bring it back over and over again one hundred percent Yeah, they have some real heavy hitters in the NRU reality dating lineup and they're just not in this season. Jeff Vestal would have been so interesting alongside Jmy I agree Mm Ay pen Nonetheless, we must now move on. Let's discuss what actually happened in these episodes. So episode six opens. We kind of were cliffhanged on they forced them to do the casaor their version of it, basically, where it's The guys have to go hang out with the single women and the women have to go hang out with the single guys and see if anybody can break up their relationships. And none of the guys, they try to initiate some kissing games. None of the guys take the bait except Dave who does a three way makeout and then later also makeout with someone else I mean, this is another error in producing. They should have been forced to do all these games Yeah, blindfolded kissing Um which we get to later. Also an error would be saying how many days are left? because when they said four days are left, I was like, oh, so no one's pivoting. Yeah I would you. It also in a show like this that only has like ten episodes, six of which or five of which are done on a single drop. So basically, the show really, has ten episodes But it's only going to exist for three weeks. When you start carving out, love is blind, I think, has this problem too. When you start putting on screen How many days are left until the end of the show? It just makes it seem like this is completely meaningless I agree Even if it is on a short shoot How us O do the mixer earlier, like it just And that's part of the boring thing is that you're like, ah, I don't really feel like anything's really gonna to shake up. Unless the format of the show, the ten episodes are like ten days. So episode one is day one, so on and so forth. If you're going to do it like that, fine. and I think they should do that on Love is Blind as well. att least with the pods, we know they have ten days of pods. I'm not suggesting ten episodes necessarily, but you could break that down into like maybe that's's usually five episodes are the pods. And so you could do day one and two is episode one, day three and four episode two, so on and so forth That to me is it's a more functional way to kind of like keep the audience engaged with the actual time that's passing. if you want to use that as part of your narrative. I think the way they do it now is it's a little bad and Love is blind, then you don't forget about the characters who are only in episode one because they pass for their storyline Yeah. So what is the interesting things we get out of the mixer B versus Damari we finally see., which they've been teasing all season. She's always in the pool, but he's never choosing to bring her in time They kind of rehash their breakups. She's like,h, you broke up with me after the grandma. He's like, you always cut me off in sentences sounds like is a big B thing for him. Yeah She's clearly trying to generate a moment of drama here. and clearly trying to generate the idea that she is the victim in this and that He dumped her in some kind of horrible way and now he's got to make it right. It falls flat. I appreciate the effort by her. I said in our watch along on Patreon that she should have done this in a public setting. She kind of takes them off to the side and does it in a one on one conversation. She should have done it in front of other people, then they at least would have been forced to react to what was happening and she would have gotten a little more mileage out of it. I think she left some value on the table I mean, I feel badly for all these players who are coming in at this point. It It's like my kind of dorn and In Paradise sl. Oh Godd Were they trying to stick it with Ed W Brot? Yeah Your only choice is to go roller skate with Ed And yeah, yeah There's not really anyone that's a rege We should call that when you get fired into a show like this way late in the process, you got to start roller skating with head Cassie also comes at Jimmy and tries to be like, hey, you breadcrumbed me, fuck you piece of shit. She tries to get a victimization edit out of this doesn't work. He's like, you were the one who has to kiss me. What's going on here? She apologizes but doesn't want to pursue him. And he tells her about the conversation he had with Bure as well. We then see Dave gets back together with Sophie and he's like U I kiss Kat and Cassie at the same time and then later I kiss Be It's just like he was the only guy who who was making out with anybody in that. But then he tells her they were all boring and she's like, I kiss Chris, but it was just a game So they there're seememingly completely fine with what each other has done in service of this game. We then see Jimmy and Allie And he says, I didn't kiss. I didn't kiss anybody. And she's like, Wh I did I kissed toashim? And She's like, I don't know how many times we kissed. And she ITMs that she likes how forward Hashim was in contrast to Jimmy kind of like sitting back waiting in the cut. And that's going to become his fatal flaw ultimately is that he's not aggressive enough in the pursuit of the idea that your' mine and I don't want you fucking around any other guys. Yeah. I mean, it's why it was my error of The dump last week is Jimmy doing an options open right before they go to this mixer. If you have consummated You got to close off. likeike And it and it gives Allie Full reign to totally explore. He doesn't even explore. He doesn't even like kiss anyone. Why did you do just play I think because he there are two paths and we see this in B Trump, any of these these group dating formats, we see this The two paths are when you're presented with the person you're matched with in whatever capacity that is in the game you're playing has to go on a date with someone else. two options One is ' going that fucking date, I'll kill you The other one is Go on the dayate, see what you can do. That's what this is all about. We need to explore our options. You can allow it and even T to some degree, give your blessing to the action or you can fight hard against it Those are two paths. He chooses The first go for it. That's what this is about. And I don't know if that's because he kind of gave us some insight into his methodology in an ITM where he was I I don't really play the Joe Sky type thing. It's like if they want to be with me, they can if not, not That's a fine attitude to have and it can be an effective play Depending who the person is you're partnered with. But for Allie, it's not. She's made it very clear. She wants him to step up and like claim her basically. And he close off Yeah, exactly. She beforefore they conimated. She Basically did in all eggs and he rebuffs that And so there's a little bit of as like taste of his own medicine here or careful what you wish for Roort you sew Matri your bed now you got to lie in it Mm Keep going You ated yourip polle brito, now you have to shake your pant defamation Wh is don't get the red sauce clues. I I never say The next morning. We have our our challenge that they're going to have to endure. the couple show up on the beach. Nichoe tells them Okay, we got a bunch of receptacles. There are these buckets hanging on these racks above them and they're told. Nicolas tells them no less than a dozen times that they have to sit under the receptacle. Inide the receptacle, you're going to have things in the receptacle. The receptacle receives receptacle items. There's receptacle, receptacle, receptacle, receptacle. They sit under the receptacles anticipating that they're going ull the rope, No clearly defined rules, by the way, of this game. He's like, you just got to sit under the receptacles and pull the rope and things are going to fall on you. And me and Lizzie are both like, who wins? What is this? It didn't make sense from the beginning. And indeed, that's because the receptacles are not filled with any bugs or gooe or toxins or scorpions as someone thought might be in them. instead They pull the ropes and blindfolds and ear muffs fall out. or noise canceling headphones and indeed it is The kissing challenge If you're going to do the fake out and do it so elaborately and make that all those props actually do the fake out and have them be standing under the thing expecting spiders and then suddenly someone's kissing them or hear me out. both it's the kissing challenge. and while you're kissing, the receptacle is pulled and cow shit or whatever falls down upon you. And if you break the kiss, you lose. And so the kissing challenge is not you kiss all these different people. It's kiss your partner No matter what time happs toxins on you. Yeah. and you have to stay connected I like that. Yeah, if you break physical touch, you lose, you get immediately sent home. That a lot. And then the players who are out get to throw stuff at them too. Um Yeah We propose that you know, this game is rigged and that they need to do camp suits. Only the mouse is available Brian with perfume so they can't possibly figure out their partners. But I don't even believe the scores are real anyway I just ten blindfolded people kiss ten blindfolded people. I'm like, I have no idea what's happening. It's also so easy to game this to have like some kind of tactile signal that you give to the other person. If it's me, I'm going to tap the middle of your back three times in rapid succession with my middle finger, whatever Um We even saw, I think Sophie and who's the tallest young guy Dave Dave. Yeah. It looked like in one shot, she might have been prepping him for that. She put her hands kind of like on his face with her thumbs right under his eyes and was like saying something to him. And it felt to me like she was saying, if you feel somebody do this maneuver with their hands on your face, it's me And then the strategy should always be on these games. You give your partner a ten Everybody else is zero hundred percent Seemingly no one's doing. When the dates Or it's not in the edit U But a wrinkle in this game is the singles also get to join and whoever gets the highest overall kiss score gets to the top three get to come back into the house and take people on dates. And so we see the results are red of the kissing challenge. Jimmy Unfortunately, he's the only one. who gave his partner Allie less than a ten He's such a bad player and he's gotten so much screen time terrible. You know, it's weird. You see these L love is blind players come into this game and loveve is blind is like very much presented as not a game. It's only for the right reasons. Nobody's playing anything. But then you see players like, I mean, we'll get to what happened with Marissa, but up until this point, a fantastic player. She gets thrown in this environment, immediately dominates it. I would say Mica was kind of like that last season. She was a love as blind play AD Jesus Christ, yes Some of these lovevel as blind players are good like general reality players. and then some of them like Jimmy, just a fucking idiot. But he was bad on Lo is Blind too. He was a bad player in that game as well. So the lack of skill, I think here transfers over So we see Yeah, Jimmy doesn't give her a ten and then the best kissing singles now get to go on these dates and the highest scores given were Weston and Marissa. She gave him a or something I think. Hashem and Natalie And then they cliff hang on the Demari's matches the third person that's going to get to come to the house with somebody that because Demari, who was it? We all thought it was going to be Brie, but no It's Kayl that's another mistake one hundred percent. I don't know what these fucking producers of the show are doing. It's like they're just on vacation to Mexico, fuck it. They're probably going out getting drunk at night with Nic Liche watching him do wild hand gesticulation percent. wider wider, Nick to the night before. Ebody that's me beny. C. I just went through it If you're only listening to this, you gott to go watch it on YouTube. I just went through a full mimicry of all of his greatest hand gestures I think they could probably hear tell what gesture by the wind with the power of your wingspan. I could hear the swirling vortex. I don't get it at all. Why not bring all of the players in to do one mixer at least? Everyone is in play, like yes Then you have Be and Marissa me, it's inse that we don't have that moment Especially when Marissa said she wanted to be friends with Bri Here's in my opinion, the thing that all of these shows need that they don't have They may have it actually. I don't know this per fact, but it very much seems like they don't have it All need At least one producer, in the early phases of construction of the game mechanics from Survivor, Big Brother the challenge They need somebody who can make game mechanics because these suck and they don't understand how to pivot people against each other correctly, especially in a game like this where like The outcomes of these games are largely subjective and can be fucked with by the producers to get whatever outcome they want. They just need the games to be better and mean more And I would even say like traders needs this quite honestly. The challenges suck in terms of how they affect the actual overall game. They're meaningless. You don't like a challenge where they add one hundred dollars to the prize spot byy picking everything box of spray painted golden rocks No school Yeahah We see then Hashim, Weston and Kayla come into the main house to kind of talk to people gauge who they may want to take on these dates that they've been awarded through their kissing prowess. And we see ultimately after all the conversations, Hashim is going to take Allie on the date, much to Jimmy's chagrin. Kayla is going to take Demari and Weston is going to take Marissa Western the cowboy Do we wonder Where was he on january sixth Yeah I don't know I don't have the answer. I don't know F feature millionaire. Oh We see Hashim takes Ali on a date that is Massage. He seems to be giving a very gentle massage, but it works on Allie terrible and they're the only ones that kiss on the date. Weston and Marissa or at least that we see in the edit, they get a little yoga day and Kayle and DMari get to go out on a boat These dates are Fine They're not They're fine. It's like At this point, because this show, the way it's shot, it's not like Love Island where these people are sequestered in a house for a month and a half and they can never leave and the cameras are running twenty forty seven. This is shot more like a Bachelor in Paradise where it's like, yeah, you're all living in this little resort, but you have off time and whatever It's only two weeks. Yeah, it's only two weeks long. I feel like all the conversations on these dates are like pretty surface And they're they're just like, oh, you're great. I have so much fun with you. We really get along. You're funny. That's about all you're going to get out of any of them So far, we haven't seen any love levels raised beyond one in this entire season Not the change have we even seen it? I guess Jimmy and Allison close off. We've barely even seen that. Jimmy has so many opportunities to raise his love level or close off and keep messing it up U But the tantric yoga people on The date with Marissa and Weston were my Jorgeorino bystander of the Dump. Yeah We then see all the players coming back from their dates and this is the main meat of episode seven now is all these conversations that are going to occur after the dates have concluded. Marissa comes in immediately hot on the attack at DemMari and they have this big argument about how she's always interrupting him and she's like, I need more grace. I have ADHD. And he's like, how much grace do you need And she walks away from him. Tice Yeah, twice over the course of this conversation, walks away, comes back, they keep arguing walks away. Victoria Fuller style. It was just It's hard to watch them because they were such a power couple in the beginning, absolutely dominating every element of this game And then but also like The boardroom thing This is a mechanic that I think could be It's good It's meaningless ultimately because all of the people on that board are coming into the game, period. Yeah. You kind of get to determine an order maybe, but the show is like fuck it, they're all coming in. So your choices really aren't like they don't mean that much. It's the order of when they're coming in and they took it away from The horse The first win, usually you get to go on a date at least and they didn't get to do that And they also had to pick like three out of four people coming in. It's not really that much power. Yeah. Yeah, there's definitely something that they could do with that It's just like the mechanics of this game are always a little fuzzy around the edges And it needs to be more, in my opinion, muchuch more structured in terms of like, here's what the game is. hereere's what the winner gets. Here's what that means to the overall context of the game You know, you should almost get to like replace somebody with another person or something I don't know. att any rate they you like the random four TWR poll that Nicochet did to kick off the male and female player who are most watchingWR. That made a lot of good sense No, it's terrible. Like just to have other people being like, well, I guess it's them. I guess it's them. And then once one person of a couple is deemed the most for the wrong reasons, didnidn't they just kick off a couple It was Chris and u Itateever you it. Kayla, the bombshw. Yeah U But this conversation was a massive error to me not the air of the game or air of the dump, but it was a massive error I think like at this point Yeah going on these dates with these other people and this is kind of classic boomering strategy, which works, it's an unbeatable strategy any It's the Billy Eilish. This is actually the Chad Culton boomering strategy. I coined that shit way before Billy Eilish was around Oh And I will replay by clues. Yeah, Billy I you want to see a real boomerang strategy? Let me know. It works every time in a group dating format. It cannot be beat And the strategy essentially says You Couple up with somebody very early on. anytime either of you is asked to go on a date. you always say yes thenen you come back from the day and you say it was great and you could do whatever you want on that day. You can make out with somebody You can go full sexual encounter if you want. You come back And you say, listen I went full sexual encounter but. You probably don't want to go full sexual encounter, but certainly you can make out with them, whatever. I mean come back You can consummate as long as you've agreed on it. Sure. I mean, make sure it's okay with the other person. but you basically just come back and you say like, look, that date was fucking amazing We had massages, we ate choccoolate strawberries, we were swiming sharknter. Full exual encounter Whatever the case may be, you say that it was fantastic, but It wasn't you And as great as that was, what it really made me realize is you're way better And I don't want anybody else, et cetera, et ccer. They get into this argument immediately that seems like it's not going to subside and they're not going to be able to overcome it. B by the end of this episode, I don't even know if they did really When they are fighting, he says, I don't want to be talked to how you're talking to me. And she goes, you need to not feel mad right now. And he does this face where he's like, Wh. Oh yes. And that was my face by of the dump. I think Damari's entire faceplay during all of their conversations was my faceplay of the dump because she was saying other shit too where she's like you don't have the right, you don't owe me anything. You just owe me a conversation. or no that was Jimmy said that. There were multiple people saying things that were like, you don't have to do anything. You have to do this where they would contradict themselves in the same sentence. And she said one to him and his face was like, It wasace. She's sitting in both of their laps. She's having conversations with both of them. Hashim is coming up while she's sitting in Jimmy's lap crying on his shoulder and being like, Hey, can I talk to you for a second? And Jimmy's like, hey, give us five minutes. So there's a little bit of tension going on. We're getting through Jimmy's ITMs that this is not how he rolls. He's not going to compete with another guy. He's been in love triangles before He doesn't like it And he's giving just this kind of energy that's like he doesn't really care what happens one way or another. Even though he's telling Allie in the conversations You're the greatest person Ive met here. I want to see if this can work outside the show. He is saying the right things other than raising his love level, which he never fucking does. It stays at one the entire time He is saying things that she wants to hear but just with no enthusiasm behind them E is making constant errors, refusing to up a love level at all refusing to close off like you have to do that at this point. He doesn't have another option in the house. likeike he can't notch down at all. But Hashim masterfully. Turning his lap play with Allie into a kiss at this cocktail party. was my play of the Dom I didn't think this couple could be broken up And I think gettingetting Allie to kiss not only on the date, but in this cocktail party right when. Jimmy's gonna find out about it, sending Jimmy into the spiral Um, He's able to pull one of the strongest players in the season at a point where I didn't think it was possible I mean, good on him, unfortunately, he's too late into the game to have a shot at winning the money. And I think Allie has done herself a huge disservice in that to that end. I thought Allie and Jimmy were going to win They had a real shot and now after you see what happens with Demari and Mra like they would have been front runners, she botched it. She med She needed to, in my opinion, I know Jimmy's not giving her much to fucking work with But he was saying the right shit And she should have, in my mind, pivoted and been like, you know what? The show has always put your defense on the show, the situation, the circumstance. It' we have never done this before, this crazy TV show I'm feeling like my emotions are heightened, my reactions are heightened. I'm so sorry.
