You've probably heard of filmed for IMAX , but what does it mean? It means some of the world's biggest filmmakers partner with IMAX on everything from cameras to sound to ensure audiences fully experience their vision on the biggest screen possible . When it's filmed for IMAX , the only way to experience the movie as the director intended is in IMAX . Supergirl is filmed for IMAX . Buy your tickets now at iMax dot com Barak , you got to look at me . You told me all those years ago that you couldn't promise me the world , but you could promise me an interesting life . And of course, you outdid yourself and managed to give me both. I know it hasn't always been easy, but there hasn't been a single second through this experience that standing by your side hasn't left me in awe . Eight years in the crucible , and not once did you melt from the heat . Not once did you let it harden you . Instead , you used it to reveal truest essence , your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage , your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency , your ferocious work ethic , an absolutely unshakeable moral fiber . And to do it all as a first and the higher standard that comes with all that , the claims that a U. S. Senator and Constitutional Law expert wasn't qualified for the job . The lies about your birthright , your faith , your patriotism, the outrage when you stated the biological fact that if you'd had a son that he too would be black . Yet you were unflappable at every turn , always focused , always calm , always looking at the long view . Tuck , how absurd it is to even imagine that you might have buckled under the pressure even once , lashed out in frustration , lost your temper . How absurd it is to imagine that you might have done anything , but make our family and this entire country proud . Remember when the White House said dignity ? Our clip was of course First Lady Michelle Obama at the opening of the Obama presidential center in Chicago . Future historians will look back at this moment , this moment when a convicted felon, white supremacist , sexual predator, Russian bootlicking fascist tried to humiliate the first black family in the White House days before they opened their presidential center, which is far more presidential than he could ever hope of being. This is a week among weeks that will go down in history. Listen to yourself now, listen to your higher mind. How are you feeling ? How are you feeling? Because that is how you're being called in this moment to show up for yourself, your community, and the kind of world that you want to live in . Because that's what we need from you right now . Everyone is needed . You matter, your voice matters. Never forget that. Never forget the power of your voice. That's how we win. fifty nine years ago last week , Richard and Mildred Loving, a working class couple in Rural Virginia, won their landmark case at the Supreme Court, Loving V. Virginia. Richard was a white man whose ancestors fought for the Confederacy and Mildred non white , who at the time she described herself as Native American, but the media reports described her as negro . She was it, it turns out mixed race . They got married quite young, started a family , and then had their home in the middle of the night raided by the police , simply for being in love and married . They fought to stay married and loving vs. Virginia struck down racist state bans making it federally protected for interracial marriage . We may take that for granted today , but that was only fifty nine years ago, last week , fifty nine years . There's an incredible movie about the lovings that you have to see called loving . Go see loving. It's an extraordinary film. It's a dramatic interpretation of what they went through . It has extraordinary actors in it. I will link to the film in the trailer in the show notes . America is still a primitive country in many ways, which is why I wanted to bring up their story. We're still growing and going through the growing pains of all that we take one step forward, two steps back. It can be scary at times, even terrifying, but we have a lot of heroes among us, people who seem to come out of nowhere , who are underestimated, that was Mildred and Richard loving . Richard famously said, Tell the court I love my wife and it is just unfair that I can't live with her in Virginia . Today in New York City, once again, the stre ets filled with people to watch a team that had been underestimated , led by an MVP who had been underestimated, Jaylen Brunson. And I know no one is or should be making a big deal about this, but it's something that as a historical thinker, I took stock of in America's larger story. Jaylen's MVP is his wife, Allie Mark Sprunson, a white Jewish woman . Yes, they met in the North, mostly stayed in the North other than their time in Texas, but just fifty nine years ago, this marriage would have been shocking to our nation. It would have led Congress men from across the South screaming on the floors of Congress . So when you look at America today as horrifying as we are, and we are horrifying to ourselves, those of us who are paying attention and to the world who sees us as a child playing with a loaded gun , we have to remind ourselves too how far we've come because that is how we go even further to the promised land of where we need to be building a safer and fair world for all, for your children and mine , supported by the legacy of justice that surges through us from those like the lovings who walk before us, we will get there because we have dignity and truth on our side . Now this week's bonus show reminds you once again that the convicted felon in the White House stole tax pay er money appropriated by Congress to fund his own shell company, Freedom two hundred and fifty . That alone is illegal , and so is mixing public funds with corporate funds and so is accepting corporate bribes. So yes, Trump's racist UFC cage match at our White House illegal . And that is why I said at the top, this week will go down in history. If a successful case can be brought and won to take the convicted felon's name off the Kennedy center, then we can win back the stolen public funding he's now using to throw highly partisan Trump rallies through Freedom two hundred fifty organized by event strategies , the same group that organized his january sixth rally of violence and treason Investigative journalist Dan Friedman of Mother Jones explains what the path to accountability looks like. Remember that word accountability? So now to listen to this week's full bonus show, be sure to subscribe to Gaslit Nation on patreon. com forward slash gaslit. That's patreon. com forward slash gaslit or gaslitation. Substack where we're there too because our friends and listeners have asked us to be active there or you can become a member on YouTube. We're expanding Gaslit Nation to reach as many people as possible, especially during these critical months ahead of building towards the midterms . Yes, we can still win the midterms . Look at the Hungarian revolution . We can do it here too. America , we need a new American revolution. Thank you to everyone who supports the show. We could not make Gaslination without you. See you soon at the Gaslin Nation salon on Monday, four PM Eastern, where we're going to open with a special songwriting workshop hosted by the great Indie songwriter Leslie Ness, more and her in the show notes. Remember , we defeated the Nazis once, we're gonna do it again . Just look at how Ukraine just torched a major oil refinery in Moscow . Just look at the Nicks and Brunson, don't count America and her true patriots out. We're going to win and rebuild our country for the sake of not just ourselves but the world . To our international allies, don't give up on us yet. Tell me, I want to travel back in time eight days , game four , nine minutes and thirty three seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Nicks are down twenty . The analytics guys, the sports betting companies, the pundits who watch from far away , they do what they do . They run the numbers. They calculate the odds . They write the knicks off . They give the Spurs a ninety nine point six percent chance of winning the game . A ninety nine point six percent chance of tying up the series two , of reclaiming the momentum with the next game in San Antonio , a ninety nine point six percent chance of silencing the garden, of another year of watching and waiting . But there is one thing that the pundits just don't get about this team , that they just don't get about this city . It is in that point four percent that we go to work . It is in that point four percent that Jay len Brunson, the same guy that so many said was too small , proves that not only is he good enough, he is the new standard for greatness It isn't that. four percent that OG Aninobi watches the ball float from the top of the arc and start running toward the basket fingers re aching towards the heavens . It is in that point four percent that Carl Anthony Towns finds the strength to mourn his mother and still pull in re bound after rebound . Make block after block . It is in that point four percent that Jose Alvarado shows every kid growing up in public housing, that a son of Brooklyn and Queens can win for every one of the five boroughs . It is in that point four percent that Mitch breaks his finger before game one and says go get the take . It's in that point four percent that Josh Hart gets rebounds that break teams . The McCall Bridges proves he was worth every single dra ft pick that Landry Shamet pulls up from downtown , that every one of these eighteen players transform s the franchise that Mike Brown keeps this team believing most of all , it's in that point four percent that the Knicks do what New Yorkers have always done when we are told something is impossible . We find a way . We win , standing here before what feels like the entire city. There is a Jaylen Brunson quote I can't stop thinking about . I'm gonna tell you , you are allowed to think about the worst possible scenario , but you got to go out there and do something about it . When Jaylene Brunson took that pay cut, my friends, that was doing something about it Time after time, we thought about the worst possible scenario . And time after time, the Knicks went out there and did something about it . The Knicks did not just win for New York City. They won like New York City
