Xbox Showcase and Future Game Impressions

I think it's a combination of just like Yeah, I guess, you know, I used to make fun of people who complaining about the three hour time difference write awful. It does something. I'm over here and I traveled too. Yeah, I know. I'm trying to figure out why Yeah, so and then I'm flying back tonight for a Red Eye and I just I don't know, mistakes are made. Yeah Uh and then We just walked to a liquor store and then I asked like, Dan, you could have just walked here as a block away and it's like, Well, you know, like what if something happens? Well one? Nothing happened. Nothing happened. What if something happened? we'd move on. LA's been pleasant. We'd fill the role. I love LA. Yeah, that's what they say. We'll headit in with the song I love NH. It's beautiful. We can't talk much about summer Gamefest though,. Mike said Pico Park is neat. Sonic Pico Park. Sonic Pico Park. Thank you. Yes. And then Dan's like got a list of games he wants The onene he's really excited about, but like we just can't talk about it until like literally later this year It's nuts. It's weird that they're doing that because like I've heard a lot of the embargoos are like kittding around July not later later. Y. I mean, they're just going to take like some of these traveling circuses and go out and do it in Europe or something like that. does take the air out of the balloon a little bit here or whatever it' saying is. It almost makes it like not opp press thing. Yeah the whole purpose of this, right is that and it sort of extracts I don't We talked about this. I can't remember when we just discussed this. It might have just could could know Who could But everything just feels out of sync. It feels like entities are not communicating. Not in a nefarious way and sorry, Mike and I here's the entities and he' these trees now we go are offected by him. yes. Oh it's not. It's not a tree beard giant. Yes Um Yeah, everything just seems discomobulated in a way that's like this is inefficient.'s it's I bet it's but they think it's very efficient for them. I bet they don't do it again this way next year. Yeah. I bet it's different becausecause they've also never done it this way where it's been so disjointed. Yeah I feel really bad for like it makes sense for all of us to come because we're putting on a show Yeah, we have our own reasons for coming. We need all hands on deck. and then, you know, we see kind of funny sending Greg and then blessing Andy for a year or two But if you're like a freelance journal or games media person and you're traveling from out of state It's really hard to justify making the way over here because of how things are. U I guess like Xbox had like their fanfest thing, but that is not like a press thing. You don't go there and watch that thing. We can talk about some of the showcases we've seen. I did want to bring up one thing and it is going to bring the mood down for my friend Sean over here Have you guys seen what's happened with Crazy Taxi since it got announced I heard Mike and Jn talking about it Yeah so they are saying, Hey, we're using generative AI to help with this game. And so everyone's like going from being super excited, like, damn it, No, come on. We just didn't want have to think about it for this game that we were really looking forward to. S should have put that in the trailer. Yeah. they should have just like, hey, well are they using AI two Yeah beat me to it. Are they using AI too for it? Yeah maybe Like just the AI and then all of a sudden like the T and the X come in and it's like taxi, that would have been Oh, that's good I I Snd an email. Yeahow, you know in Dinburgh. I'll be here for next year's AI tax, Chris tax again. Yeah. I did get I did bring like a bunch of stuff from home that I'll be unwrapped. I don't know when that's going to be a video or whatever, but we'll get something with that. I've actually played Ball in Wonderworld, and it's surprising it hasn't been on Blight Club yet The game that came with it is Little Dragon Cafade. What do you know what that is? No idea, no idea what that is. So than you and fuck you, Lewis. Yeah. Folks home, it's going to be a little shorter pod. We're all pretty exhausted and we got bunch of stuff to still do Yeah we are going to go to playday still of us here. We're going to we are going to go see these games Talk about one day. You know, my highlight of playdays so far Besides running into friends and everything. Yeah all that jazz They had these little snack olives. Oh yeah. they a little bag of olives. olive bag super sick. And those cucumber potato chips were not bad, I haven't tried those The freez stride kiddles were Dan came around on them eventually, but they're weird. You wouldn't any. a horror of Dan eating high chews H. We Oh like like an actual raccoon like When no one's looking how a raccoon must eat in a dumpster. was like J two little hands. It was just so into like and he ate it in a way where like if he didn't have this medicine, he was going to go into cardiac arrest Yeah. Like he needed it to survive. And no one's taking the from him. No. I can't even we're not even like exaggerating It was like a up Starting to unwrap, shoving it into the mouth as it unwraps. But the wrapper' not unwrapping just like John, did you see any of this Gth It was kind of like he was cracking open a pack of cards and then shoving them directly into his. which is how you open Pokemon cards. ye. Like in a way that like it was almost like someone you know like an astronaut who who needed oxygen and found like a bag with oxygen who was just like, I got from the desert from the water. Yeah. sonic the hedgeug underwater. You seeing the bubble, yeah. Like it was it was Horrifying Yeah. and he's putting the entire wrapper, which God knows where it was. And he says it always was his mouth. What does that mean? They They always awesome. But they It's pr month. come on It was it was I'm fucking crazy, man. like yeah. J straight up fucking cra. But enough for Dan att this point, we've seen state of play, the SGF showcasing now the Xbox one. The Nintendo one might have happened, Grub. Might have happened. yeah. Mbe maybe Zeigakria Tom got announced or something. Who could say, but yeah, that's the bummer of this. we are going to be traveling. We wish we could talk about it here, but We'll have plenty coverage. We'll have some sort of talk over. We'll figure that out. Any highlights from y'all from the week? Well, the funniest thing Yeah is that of everything there at playdays And someone said this to me, I did notone like, oh, was J Bgler trying to pinball his way into a conversation no. One of the only things people can actually like realistically talk about is the Transformers pinball whichs like super not even finished. It's like, yeah, it's a protype. Yeah. I mean, it's it's one of one. So it's like the it's the protype one. It is close to a production unit. There's just the caveat of like, hey Um And It's really good. It's really good. I actually was Really impressed even more so than with the Pokemon game that I hadn't played before, but like It shoots really well, it's super smart. It's got a lot of toys. The cinematics and it did you see were you there Cinematics like Alex, we were there with Navarro and E Minaoti and just the video that they grabbed for it looks really, really good. Bailey said she was super duper into it. She expected it awesome It is Vinny going to be okay with this? like he's going to like it I mean, I feel like he's going to he's so sort of like passionate about it. He's going to be upset. likeike something's going to upset him. I don't know what's going to upset I think like the optimus prime being looking real chunky in that compressed sort of top down view. I think everyone's nerves are going to do. but like the pinball be the problem No, the pimall's not yet. I don't I don't think the seing like is bad, you know, For me, it's like I couldn't care aboutformers, but it shoots really, really well. and it's got really cool ramps and ye it's dope. What's it's like gimmick? It's different. There's nothing I don't think there's anything like suuper standout. It's like, oh no game's ever done this before. It's just got a lot of like really inventive shots Bun drop targets like blocking rails and stuff like that in ramps. like it seems like a really good shooting game.ice. It's got a weird pop bumper location sort of like Godzilla. So the pop bumper is like that iconic thing where like the balls go Okay. It's got a pop bumper like in the bottom right of the playfield kind of like a Godzilla game, which people are like, oh, they're putting pop bumpers It shoots real well. I went to it from any of other the showcases you really stuck out to you? Nothing crazy. The only one that's fresh in my mind is the Xbox one. So that vivarium one. Yeah that was very Gibesque. Yeah. It looked like that I'm not gonna try to say the name, but it's that like my summer game Japanese game. tootally like going around doing little things And then I'm really looking forward to Metro twenty thirty nine. I love the metro game they're just they just are really fun to play And so those will be Be called Chillia I mean care about any of that when you just got to wait callall of duty to close out the show and just everyone away Baffling. Like baffling so bad. I didn' like it wasn't even on my radar that they would do that again. And then as it's starting up and we're realizing that's what's he's like, Mat booty comes on stage and it's like builduilding it up as like one last thing and it's all of duty again. And Sean pointed it out, like Boty had said like some They've been with us since the beginning, the beginning of what? Right? just. Maybe all duties I'm not even joking when I do think C pilot wrote lot of that and It it's like, pilots just like, I don', that's what you say in this spot is the thing's been with us a long time. It's been with us since the beginning just. They don't know. they don't care.' It's weird to end with that. even though Call Duty is still as big as it is, it is, but It doesn't get anyone excited, especially DMZ, even call of duty fans aren't excited about DMZ. the extraction shooter part of it. Even if they had never done DMZ or any of that before just wasn't it didn't look like best. especially with games like Marathon O and all this like it just And then I'm using the weird helmet cam and I was like, is something broken here? I don' they played the wrong video. I don't know. it was I was trying not to be super negative, but I was just even I couldn't help. I'm like, this is boring. Yeah. Baffling. Yeah. And then like the game is taking place in Korea, right And like you can take advantage of so many different like Looks and everything they can, but you can't have no clowns allowed. so no fun No bees. have to they have to be so careful to walk such a straight line that it is returned to a blandness that even callall of Duty hasn't had before. It looks more like like a crossfire or something, like completely just sauceless across the board. A different crossfire than the crossfire we're seeing now. Exactly.. although who knows maybe the related. I don't know yah, but the old crossfire games. Yeah. Was there anything you did Re enjoy Grub. I mean, hype for Yeah. Yeahah, but I mean it does feel like this is where because we can't talk about a lot of these games we're playing. like the things that like the conversations everyone's going to keep returning to are the Xbox exclusive stuff call Iie McCallll Duty, AI generated stuff for Crazy Taxi and Tupx Like these are going to be the things keep going back to because we stuff that's fun like were fun games. People are buzzing about stuff. Yeah. but we can't talk about it. Yeah. For anyone that may have missed it, we didn't talk over it, but like the mix is showcase Yeah had a bunch of really cool things, indie stuff U out of the show big showcases we covered though I think I've like turned around on God of War Levee, Lao Fe. Lau. Yeah. Laue. Yeah. Laofi, I don't know. She's called Fe, but it's, it is Laofi, I think. Yeah. There's like an Icelandic Yeah an artist and she pronounced Lao. It is Lao Fe. Okay, what kept saying that it didn't sound right. I w to say Lao Ci, which is the one from Toua Dom Oh hell yeah. All right, great. I did say hear someone C it Broad of war Yeah, like I'm with you. I think Deborah An Wool getting to star in a game is cool because she's cool Has anyone said Fatos yet Oh that's good. exclusive There we go the worldereatos. Yeah. And it's supped it's not it's supposed to complelimment the story or like be a continuation of it. It's alongside the first game. Yeah, and it's like while they're going up mountain or whatever they're doing in Godaar twenty eighteen. She's in the underworld doing this. Like I think I've like I watched the video that the Dvs put out and seeing Jack Quaid in like a PVC pipe. im. I like that cube a lot. Do you think he'll transform? I hope not I I hope not, but do you think that I don't think I't think so I think you got to commit to that bet. You think and I think I think we' gu see No yeah, but I wasn't sure if it's like, oh, the cubes' got a fox form or now a human form orr like At some point they free the Jack the Jack Quig character right out of it right where he's cursed to be a g like that. That's a possibility. I don't think so though I think the is the guy. Yeah. Yeah. that And Wolverine still ye. Yeah really, really fucking neat. Yeah, definitely definitely. yeah. there was u games in the xox showcase that look All right. Phalo looks beautiful. Phal look really good. That magian the magician. Yeah. Right.ic magician', nephew or Imortals ofavum, magicians, huh? Yeah cards plenty of cool stuff Yeah, right now I'm kind of just like He'aring good things from people playing stuff, like, u Orbals look great, in its last trailer. I'm hoping we can see more of that in the Nintendo Direct and they're going hard on that. A lot of people are super duper positive on control resonident. Yes. Yeah. Um Yeahah, gang, we got to head over to playdays ourselves. And I want to get there before the coffee shop closes this time. Great idea. Yeah Yesterday, we tried to get afternoon coffee No one was in the shop, but it was open This close to hopping behind the counter, just doing it myself. Yeah. whenever like there's a union involved there, I could have blocked them. I could haveoppeded the door and saved you and you could have just made us all coffee. That's what we should have done.
