We have Dany, Hama AKA, the real of life Tracy Beaker in the chair this week. We have an amazing episode coming up. We talk all things stagey rooutots, Tracy Beaker, audition processes, inspirational quotes from us both. We talk about how being embarrassed is a choice. A quick fire question round at the very end that you are not going to want to miss. So without further ado, let's get into it Please welcome to the pod. Danny. Oh I'm so excited. Thank you so much for joining me. Oh thanks for me. an honor. And I actually have a surprise for you. So you have to close your eyes. Okay, Oh my God. I don't even know you can I'm not surpriseed., key eyes closed, hold on. Okay and I bought this morning Wait for it. Okay, Wait for it. I. Oh my goodness, you look fantastic. I have JC Beaker pajamas from Primark everybody. Beautiful. Please tell me you have these. I do at last, it took me a really long time. They' them. They did after I already bought them. Oh, so yeah, they are Primark ten minutes after I bought them Primax slid into the DMs. I that h and you did this like half an hour ago? Is that like a really weird thing? justust I mean, you must be used to it now But like going into such a high street shop and just seeing Yeah It's bizarre because when I was buying them, loads of people coming up and being like, it' like sort of side eyeing me. I was like, yes, it's me on the pajamas You're buying some what size are you? So yeah, it was quite the experience Yeah. but yeah everyone's just gone nuts for them. It's so nice. I mean, like the nostalgia of Tracy Beaker for me, it was like my go to come home from school and watch you on my screen. So it's really weird to have you sat here right now. You must get that a lot. I do and it's so lovely. Yeah, again, I just remind people of being a kid. so everyone's really nice to me. so that's nice. Being on TikTok I feel like has gone crazy big. Yeah. I was really like not wanting to be on TikTok. I'm not gonna lie to you. It took me a really long time and a lot of people persuaded me to join. But I think I did it at a good time. You really do. Yeah. It was perfect timing and everyone everyone's like, o my Godd, like what throwve that? And like ye it's just so nice to see you thriving and to see like you've got kids and like I'm really enjoying it. I' found like a really nice little community on there actually. And it's nice that we've you know all grown up together and we've got kids now and sharing little tips and tricks. and yeah, it's really nice. Be I guess so much of your younger years, your te Your teenage years were spent on a TV set? Absolutely. What was that like? Slightly bizarre. I feel like I can go an eyPer and see myself you know going through puberty. Not everyone really wants to do that. so yeah, I can see myself braces and acne and you know all the fun stuff that comes with being a teenager. but it's also really nice to look back on as well. had my entire sort of life so far documented, which is crazy. Yeah because I keep bringing the character back, which Yeah. I mean it's the great that keeps on giv it. It really is. I mean, grandma, Tracy Beaker in the future, I'm sure will probably happen. You never know. I mean, like it's never going get old. I really don't think it is. and that stems from books, right? Like the Jackqu Wilson books. Absolutely. That woman is incredible. Is she lovely? She is so nice. She's like one of the nicest people I've ever met honestly. Yeah, she's such a delight. I could sit there and talk to her for hours and hours.. What a national treasure? Right? She's so lovely. I actually have a bit of history with Jacquie and Wilson books because I went through this phase in my childhood where I'd have night terrors quite a lot. Oh no There was a lot going on in my family. anyyway, we won't go into it, but I used to nighterrors and I'd wake up in the middle of the night and go up. But I'd shake my hands at this and I'd go downstairs and I'd stand behind my momum who was like sat watching tellelly and just be like like they're shaking. Oh yeah. there's a lot to unpack there but I was say like maybe once we've cut, I was say I feel like a treure or something. tellell me about that we'll discuss. And I would go down andstairs and do that. And my momum would obviously trans setetle me get me back to sleep. and I used to re Jacel Wilson books religiously. Tracy Beaker specifically, I'd be reading the books and then I'd be watching the TV show like it it was like constant, right. And one night my mum told me that I woke up in like a laugh whatever this was. She took me back upstairs and she sat me down and she would like ask me questions about myself to try make sure like I was basically sleepwalking, right, I guess I'm too It's so weird, sorry. No, I mean I've never really talked about it. And she would sit me down and ask me questions about like who I am and so and one time, she sat me down. And she was like, What's your name and I Tracy Which is weird because my m mom's name is also Tracy, but with an E EY. Oh, she's an E Y, an EY. And she was, that's wed. She went, where did youve? said the dumping ground I woke up in a night to you were Tracy Beac. and I thought I was Tracey Be. Nice. okay. You're coming after my job. Yeah. I was coming for your brand in my dream. And I woke up the next mor, my mum told me about it and I was like, that did not happen. And she said, Yeahah, it did. thought And I was like, whereere's Cam? Where's Cam? Can Cam come and save me? My mum was like, who's Cam Oh bless. I know. I've been having Tracy B Knight Terror since the age of I don't know I don't know what. Oh no. It must have been about ten. I'm so sorry that we were kind of like in your nightmares. No, but like it was kind of a dream because I was just so into that whole world and like I was like, yeah, Justine Littlebd. like I was obsessed. I'd love to hate her We love to hate her, but actually She was quiet up on it. She is I think in real life, she's actually a delight. Oh, that's so ye so. don't worry But if we're taking it back You Major Western debut aged six That's That's kind of iconic. That wass young. Yeah. I had no idea Yeah, I wish I could go back and do that As a grown up, that would be nice because I did the who's Tommy. Yeah. and I had no idea who the who was at the age of six. So I think my dad found it a lot cooler than I did So yeah, I mean, that was pretty cool. And you play T theater, did I did. I mean, the character turned deaf on and blind. so there wasn't really an awful lot to it, but it was still cool. Yeah, it was still pretty awesome. And like to make your Western debut age six That is quite a place to start in the industry. Well. Did you train from a young age? What got you into musical theatre? Well, I used to put on performances in my living room, especially for my grandparents and I think they just got so sick of watching it. they were like, Noah, I've had enough. You're going to a drama group or something. So they send me off to drama classes I think it was stagecoach that I went to at first and yeah, then I just randomly got an audition for Tommy and got it. It was just so random and so quick and my parents were like, what the heck? ' like My mum was training to be like a legal executive or something and then o my dad was a mechanic. so like very different world. So they were like, I don't think we should do this. And I was like, please please let me be on the stage. So yeah, luckily they supported my crazy dreams and yeah here I am' talking about it. so it's not. They're chaperoning you to and from the theatre every day. from London every single day. And did you do Annie as well? I did. I did yeah, I was in Annie poor of Vannie when I was ten I played July, which was pretty cool. which was part. Yeah, that was a pinch of me moment because I remember watching Annie as a kid and like sitting on my window sill and pretending I was Annie singing out the window. like crying as it was raining outside and like really thinking like I was Annie. So yeah, that was a proper pinch me moment. I'm actually in it. this is nuts. Yeah. And then after all the TV stuff, you've done lots of pantos and I found some clips of Janet in Rocky Horror. You found clips of it. F found clips. Oh, stop it thatip. It was a bootleg. All right. Don't cancel me. It was a bootleg. Oh too. Have you actually? Yeah. Oh, I'd like to see this b. Oh my gosh. so long That is such a say. That is one of my favourite jobs of all time.ike I loved Rocky horror growing up because it felt like a little bit naughty. The songs were amazing and it's just got this amazing like cult following to it. It's a bit like a panto in itself, really because you know obviously the audience all join in and they dress up and they've got their own script to it And that's where I met my best friend as well on that job. She's coming to stay later. so that's great. And yeah, some of the fans from Rocky Horror, they still come and support me in my career now. So yeah, it's just it's just got such a special place in my heart Do you think like theatre is like deep rooted Oh for sure. I mean, that's where I started. Yeah. And yeah, I just absolutely love it. There's nothing quite like being on stages there and having that live reaction from the crowd and It's kind of yeah, it's a thrill. I've done a couple of like, I mean nowhere near the CBC like your CBC era. I've done a couple of little things on CBC and I did like like an episode of Saturday Mash up or like Ros mashus for I mean they's so fun. It's like dream as well. It's like a different world. and I think the people who do these CBBC shows like Is there like a training score or something for this? when they're doing live TV, but live kids TV? Yeah. That's a whole other ball game. It's nuts honestly. I mean, I used to present on Saturday live TV way back when and it's Yeah, that's that's a whole different ball game They mash having to wake up at like three AM on a Saturday and like holy mooly and find that amount of energy Yeah and not amount of caffeine that must be coursing through their bes. Yeah and not go wrong for like hours Yeah, it is crazy. So I feel like you were like the it girl though of the time on CBBC. You were like the CBC it girl you had Tracy Beaker, but then also like you were popping up in all the other shows. Like yeah, I got really lucky. I think because Tracy was just such a well loved character, I feel like bit of that love kind of rubbed off on me a little bit and people just kind of embraced me, which was just so lovely. And I got to work with some really good producers and yeah, they gave me my own show on Danny's house and stuff, which was awesome That was nuts. That was crazy. Do you show your kids these episodes now? they' so interested in it Do they want to watch it? I've tried showing my eldest who's nearly ten, Tracy Baker and Avery Bell. Avery Bell, ye. I tried showing her and she was a bit like, Mum this is actually really boring. No. Thank you so much. Yeah. Kids like to humble you. But maybe when she's a little bit older, she'll get into a bit. Shell appreciate it. Yeah. She enjoys the spin offs and stuff So like the dumping crown and stuff like that Do you see a career for her in theatre and TV? I don't know. She's not really shown. I mean, she's really into her music. She's a drummer Oh She's way cooler than I am. She's awesome. So you never know, like if that's what she wants to do, I'll support her one hundred percent. but I I'm also sort of like, you know you could go and be a lawyer and get a job and you know, get those pensions and you know, I know all the things that as a perform Maternity leave, that's nice. Yeah Go and get that. emmployment and not self employment. Eact short little contract. Exactly So obviously you auditioned for that at quite a young age. What was the audition process like for Tracy Beaker at that time? It was very fast and it kind of felt a little bit like X factor because like there was like loads of us at the beginning of the day. And then as the day went on, it kind of like whittled down. It was really odd. And like by the end of the day there was only like a handful people left. so I kind of felt like, o, All in one day. Yeah, pretty much. That's unheard of. It was really weird, but I feel like because they'd been like up and down the country for ages trying to find these characters. I feel like I'd kind of like joined just at that last kind of moment. And then I got asked back the week after to do some chemistry reads And by that point I was kind of like, feel like I might have this now. Yeah Yeah. and then literally I think I'd found out like the week after it was so fast. That is really quick. I know. such a big Rll Yeah. that I guess you weren't to know how many series it was going to do straight? No, not at all. I mean, we knew that it was going to be twenty six episodes, but they were only going to be fifteen minutes long And it was going out just after school. So I was like, well, is anyone even gonna to watch that? I'm like When I get back from school I just want to take my uniform off and eat. So I kind of thought, I don't I don't know. But I knew how massive Jacqueline Wilson books were. I'd read all of them apart from Trace Speaker. we all know this. I've not read it. I won't read it. Yes, I've not read it I not know that. it's like a widely known fact now. Oh my Godd, I'm so sorry. I didn't y. No I read all of her books. like I was a massive Jacqueline Wilson fan apart from Tacy Beaker. It was like the only book I hadn't read. So haven't Noope, we still haven't 'causeuse now I'm just being stubborn. I feel like, well, I know kind of how it ends now, so it's all good You could do the audio book Well, I did do one of the audio books, but I can't remember I mean Hey great idea. But I can't remember what book that was because I feel like she did so many Tracy Beaker books now. I could go back in my sleepwalking days and probably d try which. But yeah, I tried to read it like as quick as I could like on the train on the way to the audition, but I think I got like five pages in and just went, you know what Let's just see where the script takes me. and I think it. Yeah. but I think that kind of did me just this because it was my version of Tracy as opposed to Jacqueline's and I think that kind of did me well in the. And I guess it it's a different scenario when the character already exists. It's not like you're creating a brand new Ch character, like, I mean, she's right here, like that there character already Yeahah, she already This is the illustration from the book. Yeah. And the book came out in ' ninety one. Yeah. so You know, I already had the hair nailed, so. I mean like there'es. comeome on. I mean look at us. We're practically twins. I'm getting really hot in this. I was gonna to say You're gonna have like can I take it off? You're gonna have to take it. Okay, I'll take it off But I'll keep her on the chair so that you can all see there. It is rather warm here. And it is a pajama top just so you all know. I tried to get the t shirt they didn't have any left Oh no,' they have been really popular. I did a signing the other day and literally everyone turned up in that. It. No, just a random signing. very. It was so lovely, but so many people turned up in their pajamas. I was like, Oh, man, I wish I turned up in my pajamas. Yeah it's a lot more comfortable but I should have. I'm so sorry to let you all down Next time I shall wear my pajamas. You know sometimes some really lovely like fans of the shows I've been in will create like top designs with like pictures of us se and our characters on. And I always think like they're so lovely but like there is no way I'm going to walk around London wearing myself on my t shirt. and they'll give them to us and it's so nice and like it's a really nice keepsake to have. Yeah I can't walk around wearing it personally. I don't know what that says about me because I'll be like, Yeahah, I' wear it. Yeahes, but I feel like the illustration. I don't know. Yeah, I suppose it's one thing wearing an illustration. It's another thing actually having your your face your face like quite large. Yeah. Here's the thing, I don't get embarrassed. like I don't have that in me. I love that ever It's a blessing and a curse, I think honestly. Just on the way here, I was walking down Oxford Street and my whole skirt blew up in the wind and instead of instead of being like, o my gosh was I was laughing so much I turn around I was like, Did did not see that? whole skirt. But everyone had their rip pods in so they weren't paying attention to me. but yeah, I'm just missing that like embarrassment. But that's good. I always say What is it I say? I say I have a famous quote. It's like so much. Embarrassment is a choice. Is that what I say? What's my quote? I think it is what you say. You should get that t that. Yeah, something like that. It is now. But it's like, oh no, it's only embarrassing if you're embarrassed. I like that. You know what? I liked the first one better. embarrassment is a choice. Yeah. It's very embarrassing if it's embarrassing Yeah, yeah true. But like people would comment on my TikToks when I was doing like back in the Tescoo days and like I'd be dancing down the arards, people would be like this is so embarrassing and I'd be like wait, I' not embarrassed.' embarrassed. It's embrassing me. so why is it embarrassing for sry if you're embarrassed.'n embarrassing me if I' embarrassing' not. So if you are, that's you proper. Absolutely I think someone said like someone else's opinion is nothing to do with me. now I'm doing it. Okay It's one of my famous quote quotes. P that on a postcard. Yeah, yourour opinion is nothing to do with me. Yeah. S along that. I mean in fact that, like if you're embarrassed, then that's a you problem. Absolutely. But I do still get embarrassed, so I don't really stick by my res. sometometimes I do get embarrassed I don't have that like you have. Yes, but I do worry because I could do with a bit of that. Yeah, here you go Thanks God welcome. I am a little bit worried though, because as I'm getting older, it's getting like worse. because you lose less inhibitions. So I worry about my older older self. I'm like whereere am I going with this? I'm like already bordering on Miram Margulies. So it's like, where am I going? seriously? So I dread to think I'm gonna be like in my sixties. I'm excited and I can't wait for CBC to document it. Oh, yeah, could you imagine? I don't think CBC is gonna my. If I'm like Mir Marglies, I don't think'll be emoyed. It'll be a Netflix special Yeah, Federal. Should do a handanah hot line? H hot line how quick Danny get it? Oh, so quick Why hello there. Hi guys. I wonder if you have any tips for getting into acting at a young age. Oh That's good do I put the phone? check it down. I'm so sorry. I'll beak back today. Next question. I think well the way my starter was going to drama classes, which I think is probably the best way to start for sure. Yeah. And always think of it as a hobby, I think, rather than a career. Yeah, I think the key to doing it when you're young is I did some acting when I was young as well and it was very much like it didn't feel like a job. So now I look I mean, it wasn't like The West End wage for kids, as you can like probably know, but at the time it, I think it was like twenty five pounds a show or something. And I was like Yes. if I say buy new scooter. It was very much like pocket money. so many sweets. I know. Yeahah, like so many so many at the time, actually. R That would have been so many fredos. now it would be like two I know I yeah, very much thought of it like it was just fun and it was like an extra bit pocket money, it wasn't a job. So when I look back, I'm like, Oh, I was actually working. That's cool. But yeah, just like keeping keeping the joy. And in terms of like finding the opportunities and finding the auditions I actually think being involved with local are always really good because if people are looking for S they're looking for like a new group of kids for the Annie tour or something like that. like they are going to reach out to local dance schools and local I don't know, children's performing agencies and stuff like that to try and find new cast. So I think like that's always a good shout to like involved with as many stuff as possible but also now social media. Like I see all sorts of like open call, looking for kids for linking or looking for kids It's a great way of finding things outactly. I'm always looking for stuff because obviously a performing arrts accademy. So yeah, social media is a great way to find out for like local castings and stuff. Yeah Go along and have fun though. Don't go in worried about getting the job that is like so far into the future. Just go in like learn things, goo in there like a sponge. My very first professional audition was for Mary Poppins. and my momum was like, okay, we can only go but we're if we don't get too emotionally attached to this. And I was like, yeah, of course no problem. So I didn't get it. and we were doing Let's Go Fly Kite and it was really fun. like it was fun, but idea. I'm like perfectionist, right? And they were like, okay, so It wasn't so much about like dancing really well or singing really well. They wanted to see like kids that were imaginative. They wanted us to like these pretend kites and say like what color our kites wear and what designs were on them. And I was so focused on like I don't know, looking cool, looking good and looking talented. I was like, u it's pink I don't know and there was all kids that were like mine's rainbow and it's got fairy dust coming out the back and it's got stard and I was like, o yeah. I should have just like had fun and been imaginative and stuff. and I didn't get it. And I remember sitting in the taxi on the way back to the station and being like, P follow. That's my line. You can't steal my line in front of me. No, the second daddy walked in the studio. Storytime the second daddy walked in like half an hour ago. I was like, Soorry I've got a really dry nose. It's not a bgun went. Is it hay fever or? And I was like Did did you did not on purpose, were you? I abbsolutely didn't I genuinely asked went I sometimes forget who I am myself. It is a fever. It' a fever. And you've never had hay fever. N never had hay fever. never life. It just that good. What was the question? Whatline Oh, how' to get into acting at a young age. So yeah, keep an eye out for things like that. My mum was part of a forum. I told this story at my recent live show was part of a forum called Notapushy Mum. com Did I tell that story at the live show Ilested I the story many times but I've never heard.' I'm excited.ll everyone. you can skip this bit if you've heard it before. She was part of a forum called notot pushy mum. com, which is obviously a forum for pushy mums, but like Sleay. And there was like casting directors that would go on there and be like, Hey, looking for kids for Santa music or looking for and my mum just like DMed this I don't know what my momum's account name. it was probably like Not a pushy mom Not a pushyumy, pushy.ne, two three hastag my child is the best. And so she reached out to this class and director. who was an amazing casting director called Joe Ha, who's sadly no longer with us. Do you remember Joe? Yeah was she cast me in Annie? Did she? She did? Oh my go. Like the most lovely lady ever. J just such a delight. Yeah. She cast me in the sound of Music. and like once you get in there with a casting director or a casting team, I think It's good for them to know that they've got like some reliable kids on their books and then she would call me back in for other stuff. So yeah, I guess just look far and wide and like keep having fun. And I'd say like theatre is probably very different to TV in that respect. I did have a question that I was like really wanted to ask you. When you're on set because obviously teenag years you legally still have to do schooling, right? Yes. ye, yeah. How did that work with your school? So we had a tutor, which was really actually worked really well for me because I didn't get on too well with school anyway, to be honest with you. I wasn't very academic. so I was just there to dance. So having a tutor worked really well for me. I feel like I got like loads more done. my tutor is called Mrs. Rainbow. Really? actuallyctually her actually her inial name. Yeah. What? And she was just the best. and sometimes she could just see like how knackered we were all worse. So she was like Let do some coloring. So you had to do certain amount of hours per day, then. You had to do like a minimum of like three hours a day. So it's a busy life. h school. There's no way I'd want to go back to that because like the minute you leave set, you're then working again but in a classroom. So there's literally no rest for the kids.' a lot. It is It is a lot But we did film quite a lot of it in the summer holidays and you did still get a bit of a break, but ye yeah, it was a lot. It's no mean feat like working as a child. I think it's a big commitment for your family as well. Yeah. like really is. With the chaperoning and like taking you to andro, I guess against being on set is maybe different, but like In theatre, like my mum would have to take me into London like every day of the week and ye She had a job as well. so it was I know was my parents had like full time jobs. Yeah. And yeah, they they had to like Well, my mom chaperoned me on Tracy Beaker so that was really handy. for quite a lot of the other kids, they would get like dropped off at service stations on a Sunday and then not see their parents until they were dropped back again on a Friday night. That's mental. So it's quite a big ask really because you know, when we started, we were only twelve. it's quite a ye, I mean, it's like formative years like Yes teenage years. Absolutely Was it like a family on that set then? Yeah, it really was because we had mostostly the same crew pretty much every year. That's amazing. It was really nice. they all kind of like watched us grow up and they looked out for us and yeah it was great and I learnnt so much. I was that annoying kid where I just had to know everything all the time and what everyone was doing and So it was great. But I guess that kind of a good way to be because then it can lead you on to working in all different realms. Yeah directed as well. Yeah, exactly that. So yeah, I direct some of the episodes now on the dumping ground which is nice. keep it in the family, whichich is great and it's so bizarre now because I go back and I direct and I'm obviously like a head of department, but I'm also head of departments with people who were also trainees when I was there doing Tracy Beak Returns. W. So we've all kind of gone up the ranks together, which is just so cool. Yeah. Yeah, so we're all sort of like looking around like, Ohh my go.'re We're in charge charge. Who like the kids in charge? This is wrong. So yeah, it's great. It is a big family Confessions of the drama ueen G, that was actually tough. It's my day off today. Well, that felt high. Okay, we have a little listen of confession here. Hey, Queen Hannah and Danny, obviously They don't know that you're going to be here, but that's fine. Don't take it personally. I need your help. So our school just announced the cast list for Tuck Everlasting and Winnie Foster has been my dream role for ages. The problem is she's also my best friend's dream role o we'd made f I'm joking. We'd made a patch that whoever got it, we'd be happy for each other and it wouldn't cause any drama. G. Neither of us got it initially. Oh, fine. Great. Well that worked that one now? Yeah, whichich we were both gotited about. But then the girl who was cast decided it was too much effort and dropped out. Right? They've asked me to step in and I said yes and now my best friend isn't speaking to me. I know she's hurting, but this just kind of fell into my lap I don't know whether to apologise, turn the roll down or just give her some time What should I do? what would you do? Well, don't apologise. Yeah, it's not your fa. Your friend is being very unreasonable. Yeah. Can I say that? I mean you can I'm quite old, so this feels a little come on now. Yeah, you'll all look back on this one day and laugh, okay? Yeah. There are bigger problems in the world if you don't mind me saying so. All right. sometimes a little bit of perspective is you know, needed. I love that. Thank you so much. Absolutely fast no drama, like just going touch some grass. Yeah exactly. Do you know what I mean And well done on getting the role. Yeahah, you've got it and enjoy it You're not going out. Your friend should be supporting you. hopefully she'll come around and if she doesn't Go find another friend. Merary there. Merry there I feel like is that brutal? I don't know. maybe It's to the point, but like it's not untrue. I think'm old I'm daded. I don't know what to say really. No, but that's so fair. It's so fair. I think this is like like kind of what we was saying earlier, that's a your friend problem. She's not to speak to you. That's her problem. You're not to make yourself smaller, you're not to turn down opportunities Don't dull your sparkle? Yes. That's another saying that we always say Okay so whate here abbsolutely What's the phrase that I always say Oh, blowing out someone's candle wasn't going to make yours burn any brighter I think we could do a social clip of all just these little quotes. I think you should. Should we add some more really should. I have said. It's an official quote. I ha an al. I really like that one. I made it up myself. What other quotes could we say? Don't step on your grandma's back S you Get a roll, period.. Something like that. Shing like that Fus on onene step at a time and not the whole staircase. Actually when I remember from drama school, that was Susan Rassseley, Sorry, that wasn't Hanelather original, like all the others. The other one. Yes. so our answer to this would be You've already actually hold on. let's just go back a tiny rewind. We've made a pact that whoever got will be happy for each other. If that's even worse, she made a pact and she broke it. She's broken the pact. I think you should break her backag and I'm joking. That's another famous quote. you break the pact. I break your bag. It wasn't there like a song about stepping on a crack in your mum's back Oh you break your momum's back. Yeah. It was a rhymey. What was it a ryme A nurery ryme Not a nursery rhye. that feels dark and twisted for another cashy nurery rhymes are quite dark. Yeah. It was like, step on a crack, break your momum's back. step on a lye, break your dad's spine. And it's like, wow. Did I make that up as well? I don't know. Is that official? Yeah. And it's like when you're walking along you't st on the crack. Yeah That sort of stuff would give me anxiety as a kid. I'd be like. So maybe just say that to your friend. Yeah U scare them off, No I'm kiding So to start with congratulations, yes,. So basically your friend sucks but congrats.. and going in town to touch some grass, find some new friends And I'm sure she'll get over it at some point. She needs to apologise for how she's behaved U and take a bit of accountability Don't turn the She said, shouldhould I turn the roll down?? No. Absolutely not. No, no, no, no, no. Take that roll, ride with it. Don't let your friends like energy, dampen the energy you're gonna put into the everything I'm saying. It was like a really rubby close. I was wondering where you were going with that one. Don't let your friends energy Dampenen, dampen your energy energy My drop And then just like flip the ph and leave. Mike drop, flip the phone down. . Bog off. Literally. just againain, that's mine. You can't just keep taking my life. I haven't got it in yet, Danny, come on. Tell your friend to bog off. Look her in the eyes. That is such an iconic phrase. J say it to you in the street all the time. but I don't think I actually said it that many times. I think someone counted and it really and it was't that that often, you know peopleople took it into the heart. Yes. and I feel like it was like a swear word that wasn't a swear word Yeah. And as kids, like we love that. If you could say something that's like bit cheeky, but it's not an official swear word. Yeah. because I think bog off probably means A rude word that we're not going to say on here. No, but like she just said it in a way. I've been It's like saying frog off or something. I'll frog off. Do what I mean? Or like like I would say I would say like so that I don't swear, I'd be off for fork's sake, like a fork and is off a fork sag Because it's funny like they know what you mean, but you're not saying it. Yeah. So Bog offff's like, Oh Bg off, you know? Absolutely. Bog offff. Bog off Elaine. It just rolls off the tongue nicely. Yeah it really does Yeah. And you know, Elaine the Pain. Elaine the pain, like Anyone I felt bad for anyone whose name was Elaine at that time. I know. it's a bit like the Karens now, isn't they? And they're getting a bad rap. Yeah, lovely Karen who plays Palette in Lgue blonde like She's not Karen at all. I know. I know so many nice Karens. I know. Iel so bad. They've been all tarnished with the same brush, but yeah. Elaineess back in the early two thousands, they didn't stand a chance so bad for them. But Elaine the Payne's eyes shadows, I think were the most iconic thing about that character. L the green. There was this really good like gold. No, I think it was her lipstick that was gold And I was like with the blue eyeshadow, I was like, that is just so iconic. I love it. I think I read something recently that like at the time of filming Elaine the lady who played Elaine Yane, s Nisha, that she was quite young Yeah, she wasn't that old. And I remember like being a kid and being like, Oh, Elaine the Payain's like this. Like not that she looked old, but like when you look up to that sort of character And that I'm hearing now that she's that she like, she wasn't old. Yeah know she's only I think she's only just her. Yeah Oh, well Nisha kill me. Oh no that She hurry Aunt, Nisha. But yeah, she's l. And she wasn't a pain in real life. No, o my gosh, so far from it. I love that woman so much. Honestly, I could sit it on the phone for hours and hours. She's absolutely nuts, but in like the best possible way She's so good. She's hilarious. I bet like they're also proud of you, like everything you've gone on to do. Do they come and watch your shows and stuff? Yeah, they toly they're just the best, like her and Lisa who plays Cam I call them my aunties because they act like a pair of aunties. You can't take them out anywhere, but they are, they're just so lovely. And if I ever need anything, I know I can call either of them and they'd be there straight away. They're just brilliant. If you could like Dream, sleepwalk Okay. if you could dream your like dream career going forward in terms of like I don't know what you want tona do going forwards like TV, theatre or teaching and stuff like that. like what would it be? Oh gosh. a bit of everything. Yeah. I'm so greedy. I'd love to carry on directing. I don't know about more stage. I'm not sure. I do love doing pantos and stuff Um, Yeah, I feel like that's kind of where I'm out really, but yeah, I don't know. anything, everything All of it. And like Panto is so such a staple, isn't it? L Panto is such a staple. And it's so I actually think like S people look at Pantu in a certain way and like Panto is so specific and so niche and like You have to really be good at that style to do it right. I think people forget that it is an art form in itself. and yeah, people do turn their nose Yeah uppple down. What's that famous quote? What's that What is that famous quote? P Up? Is it up? Yeah Yeah, I supp like this and then you look down. I get it. ye. But it is it's an art form and it's knnackering and you're giving up your Christmas for it. For me, that is my Christmas. Like it wouldn't feel like Christmas time if I wasn't doing Panto. I've done it since the age of seven. This is my thirtieth year doing it, which is bonkers. I don't feel old enough, but there we are. And yeah, I just love it. love it so much. And you're a Disney girl. I am, I am a Disneyirl. I'm proud Disney Ault. Deal with it, everyone, okay I love it. I did SpongeBob Musical and there's apongeBob Louge b by where it' like a papple the door opens Any show I do, I'm like fully on brand. So if I could get line for every job, Yeah and that would be perfect. I've been lucky that the last few years I've done Beauty and the Beast because that is my favourite panto. And like every day in rehearsals I'll dress in Beauty and the Beast themed clothes I look like an absolute mor on bottom. I'm having the best time. Yeah so that you' ever going to be embarrassed.
