Today, we talk about Trump's neemmesis Thomas Massey losing his primary in Kentucky Positive for now, Miffa Pristone Udate, the ridiculous Garden of Heroes and what in the world is going on in California politics? Chaos Chaos. California Chaos. Then Rashma Sujani joins to discuss her new documentary, No Country for Mothers and the realal issues Moms Face in America Today. And of course, we wrap up with Sanny Petty You're listening to Hsteria, the podcast that thinks that from now on there should be a one in one out policy for men with podcasts. So no new podcasts for men Until who man quits his podcast. I think that feels right. That's what I do with sweaters withith one With one exception With one exception Thomas Massey. Yeah, you said this morning. Thomas Massey, goodood night, sweet Prince. Trump Samacist, Republican, Kentucky congressman, rebel Weirdo roobotic chicken coop builder Thomas Madie. Yeah, he built a robot chick. This is my favorite fact about him. He was a engineer at MIT. He's an actual Oh I knew that Very very smart man. when it comes to math and engineering, doesn't mean he's necessarily smart about like how to fix problems in American society But whatever, neither here nor there. I still count myself as a fan of his and his like eccentricities. He built a robot chicken cp. Like it's fat like yeah, it's really cool and he lives off the grid He's really? Yeah He's like figured he is living it. He's not Sean Hannity wearing a cowboy hat at a NASCAR race and going back home to a multim million dollar home. He is or Tucker Carlson up in Maine. Yeah, right. Tucker Carlson living the life of a like Stephen King villain. Yeah, you're not in Maine.though Oh my God, this week Tucker Carlson had the single most insane interview I've ever heard and you know I listen to Candace Owens. I know, I know. I stick with Katie Miller. I Well You know what? you're doing harder work than I am because I mean, because she's a ding dog. She's a ding dog and Candace has some ris. But Tucker Carlson, I think can be a really good interviewer and I listen to his show. I listen to his show because I'm like, I just I want to know what what is the other half doing, right? Yeah, for sure. And Thomas Massey had a great he's had a couple great interviews with Tucker Carlson. He seems to really let loose when he's talking to Tucker Carlson Tucker Carlson is not my cup of tea, but he gives me insight into a different part of the country that I don't necessarily interact with organically. He had a person on his show this week that was like talking about like the Freemasons and Adrena Crone and like Yeah. Now you need to explain. So here's the thing. when you mentioned this morning, I had to Google Adrerenina Crone because I did not know what it was. You need to explain what it is. Okay, so Adrea Crone is a made up thing. There's actually, I think a science versus episode about how Adrenin Crone isn't like a scientifically possible, but whatever, I don't think these people are men of science. Adreina Croh is this thing this drug that the elites take that is extracted from people's adrenal who have been traumatized have been traumatized specifically right? So it's sort of like you know in Twin Peaks how Bob feeds on the on the like bad trauma people. It's literally that, but in a physical drug form and they think it was like the basis of a lot of Q andon lore. It's been I mean it it feels very Peter toal. It's really, but it keeps coming up over and over again. There's like this idea of like a bad guy who feeds on fear and this is just a scientific version of that. And there's and it's really funny to me that you literally worked directly for a president. of the United States and you're like, what's a Drea Con? Because The theory is that it was like the Clintons are taking it. the elites are taking it. Everyone in Washington. Well, no one's ever confused me with the elites. Yeah. Well, but you were there. were your rub and I was Y elbow I was there were rubbed thoroughly by the elites. and also neverever did I take Adreina Crone or here or hear of it. Yes, right. So anyway, Tucker Carlson did an interview about Adreina Crone this week and I was like, wow We are really tether between us and reality has snapped. I think it has snapped because like millions of people are going to hear that interview. In addition to hearing like it's like, oh, he you can have Thomas Mason talking about the way that APAC functions within the Congress, which is like very informative and like interesting. And I think it made enough people mad that it eventually doomed his primary chances And then he can go turn around and do it interview about fucking a dream. It's like Oh my God, dude, like that's the thing that like that that previous Tucker Carlson would be like, you can't be taken seriously. You believe in a magic totally substance that comes like Anyway, that was a huge sidebar because I feel like Thomas Massey and Tucker Carls was interesting intermingle ideologically. And I think it really said something that despite the efforts of Tucker Carlson and people who find themselves ideologically aligned with Tucker Carlson, Thomas Massey was not able to overcome the massive push to unseat him in his Republican primary Kentucky, which happened on Tuesday and he didn't just lose. He lost by ten points. Yeah lost by ten points. This happened on the heels of Massey being someone who broke with Trump on a lot of things, most notably the Epstein things. He did, but he still voted with them like eighty percent of the time. I know. You know, it's not like he was some real maverick. But he did break with the money. He didn't want to support the big, beautiful bill. He is a d in the wall libertarian. He just wants the government to like make roads and have a small military protect us and that's it, basically. Right. He doesn't want there to be any social safety net but he has always been that always been what he has never been like, oh, it's cool to believe this now. No, it's true. I went down to the u What's it called? It's like heritage report or something where you can look at people's voting records for as long as they've been in Congress. And I was going all the way back in time with him and it's like that's, you know,'s who he is. And he's been in conongress since like twenty twelve. So like there's something that's really interesteresting in terms of like a political calculation for Oh yeah president trying to oust a member of his own party in a safe Republican district. I mean, Dan Peiffer made a point along these lines yesterday that it's a strange move for him to try to oouse this person because he's also now not that seniority should determine everything, but he's also now like resetting the clock on who represents them in their senior Yk. Like they're nowing a very junior Congress personers Totally of the same like shittier committees, less influence, like it's you start it's like you go back to the beginning. Right, Right. You o them. You oust your incumbent when your incumbent is like really screwing you over Right. Right. You know what my theory not my theory, but something that it made me think about was, though, is that because Congress isn't doing anything, literally, Congress is doing absolutely fucking nothing. People are suffering It's like Thomas Massey almost had nothing to run on. Do you know what I mean? Like I feel like incumbents in general are going to have a very difficult time when people are like, I'm I'm miserable. I can't afford anything and like They can't even say like, yes, he stood up for Epstein, but what does that do for people who like, you know Trump says it's his fault. Trump is still in the grievance game where he's like, nope, it's his fault. You're not doing well, even though Trump's fucking president. He's been one of the few Republicans has been vocally against the Iran war. He's very upset about the Iran war and military intervention, and Donald Trump ran on a new wars platform in twenty twenty four. So I just think that this you know, I've been hearing reporting, I've been reading analysis of this and I see a lot of stuff that's like, oh, this is This is just a testament to Donald Trump's stronghold over the party. and you know, we're at an age when I don't know I think that this is just a testament to just what simimps Republicans are. Like they just need to be to be ordered around. It's like drone behavior. I think that's true. and I also think that Trump made this his raaison de Eetre to get rid of him Like he hass been attacking him for years at this or how long have How long has Trump been president a year and a half? Well, he's been like a lifetime since the beginning. I also think and you know, if I were running for office, this would be something that Republicans would seize on as an example of me being an elitist asshole, but I'm never running for office. so I'm just gonna sound like an elitist asshole. I think that there is very strong contingent of MGa Republicans, like really like the real die hard MGa people Wh? gllommed onto Trump because for their whole lives they have been told that they are losers. And in some cases, rightfully so because they've made loser decisions. But in other cases, they've been victimized by a system that has disenfranchised them en masse. And rather than blaming the system they blame minorities, they blame women, they blame. they blame immigrants, you know, they And that's just a trick that the elite have always used to to like weaponize the poor against themselves. And so anyway, I think that they have just Trump made them feel like they weren't losers. Joining brigades on Twitter and like attacking liberals online and like getting in Facebook mobs against people makes you feel like you're not a loser. You're like joining a winning cause. You're part of theing thing. And I think that the massy race gave people who are still being disenfranchised and are still feeling like losers despite the fact that Trump has now been president for going on six of the last like twelve years. Yeah. I think they still feel like losers and this was like an opportunity for them to feel like they're participating in a win I feel like they just That's fair. They just want to feel like they're winning. And it's just, it doesn't really matter what the implications of the winner. doesn't matter if it's a PIric vict And they take their signal for what's a win from Trump. Right Eactly. You're a winner because I'm telling you're a winner. Right. will you can be a winner. Yes if you listen to what I'm saying. Yeah, R. But right now they're getting the they're winning the getting punched in the balls contest Right? Right? Like they're getting punched in the falls and being like you're wning you're winning, you're winning and they're like yes, I'm winning,'m winning and' winning. Meanwhile, the the share of the electorate that actually like is into this message is getting smaller and smaller because Donald Trump's approval ratings are just completely falling like bottoming out. bottoming out So here's something I've been wondering, Alyssa Yeah How do we reconcile these two things It's going to be a I know you're It's going to be blue wave year. It's going to be a blue wave year. Everybody hates the Republicans. Donald Trump is so unpopular. The war is unpopular. Nobody likes every single time you drive by a gas station, you see something stupid that makes you mad at Donald Trump. R? How do you reconcile that with Republicans are rigging the elections. They are redistricting so that they'reaking is the I mean, it feels like an unstoppable force hitting an im movable object. like what What's going to happen here? I feel like Democrats are talking out at two sides of their mouths. Democracy is at risk we're going to win big in November. I'm Right. Well, think it' I personally think it's insane to say we're going to win big in November. Nothing good has ever come of saying we're going to win big in November six months before November. rightight? Like that's just for all the reasons. it drives complacency, like people don't get engaged. And like all the primaries that are happening right now are like, Very dystobian. Next month is the Texas primary, and Trump just endorsed Ken Paxson, one of the most morally bankrupt people ever like that will be a really interesting outcome, I think. I mean, not only like not only morally bankrupt, it's like It's like morally bankrupt and not charming whatsoever. Like there's he does repellent every way. disgusting he's disgusting inside and out. It's not like Matthew McCaughy. If Matthew McConaughey had life like record of if someone looks like Matthew McConughy and acted like Mat Mconaughey so had Ken Paxton's record Pe I would be like, okay I get it. It's like ye Yeah, you' reying Gavin Newsom and Ken Paxton, like put Gavin Nsom on the outside, Ken Paxton on the inside. I can see how that would be a compelling politician. Right. But it's like it's can be disgusting. said you can't be disgusting and morally bankrupt. Yeah, he's so he's a gross person. and Trump endorsed. Yeah, sorry, I interrupt Trump. Yes, No, no, you didn't. It's justrump endorsed him yesterday And I think that it will be an interesting thing. John Cornin, people can say, what do he want? He is Look, it's like On the one hand, if John Cornn loses, I feel like he's going to join the Tom Tillis Bill Cassidy like let your freak flag fly DJ But it also goes to show that like they don't believe that they don't believe most of what Trump says, that they do think that he is like disgusting. and they're all just afraid of him and more obsessed with keeping their power than doing the right thing. And I mean, Bill Cassidy of all people for God's sake. I mean, the man is responsible for the confirmation of RFK Jr.. Right. But think that I think that what happens in Texas I think I will take a little bit more as like a bellweathery type thing because Trump kind of doesn't seem to give a shit. You know what I mean? He's kind of like, fuck you, John Corn. I don't think that you are were like a pscop fan enough, but he doesn't seem to revile him in the way he was really mad at Masssey. So we'll see. And I also cannot imagine that Republicans, like this is the other thing is wild. Trump is making Republicans the GOP, the RNC spend money on things they should not be having to spend money on. like it's wild. R. Yeah. so here's here's the thing though, you know, the difference between Thomas Massey and a, you know, John Cornan or you know, a Bill Cassidy, is that Masy can walk away with his head held high? Like let's play a clip from Yeah, no for sure. Let's play a clip from his concession speech because he was true to himself the entire time. Let's play a clip. Good point D What What happens in twenty twenty eight You want Oh you Oh, you want me to run for Congress again I don't know what you're talking about All right I don't know if you guys can hear this, but they're chanting president president and Thomas Massey is grinning like he just won an election and Yeah the primary. So heres here's something that the massy thing. First of all, massy is what JD Vance wishes he was hundred percent because he is like funny. I know I sound like I'm simimping for him. He is No, you're not. No, but it's just a comparison. It's a comparison between two not great people. But he is he is wrong I disagree with him like ninety five percent of the time. Yeah, like vehemently on a lot of things. but I would rather have someone like him in Congress who has principles than somebody who is just a complete little like Lindsey Graham style worm or like Well, here's the other thing Thomas Masy has a personality. Yes. and he he's funny He is he connects with his audience authenticically. He can vibe. He can like riff, you know what I mean? He's not Riff He does not seem like an oily Ivy le. likeike he doesn't seem doesn't like he's practicing a stand upp routine. It doesn't No. It doesn't. And so that to me is why I think him and Rokana, AK the Wonder twwins could team up on a like unity ticket and probably like take a lot of votes in twenty twenty eight, but free idea OkayK, there's one more clip I wanted to play just from his concession speech because I thought it was like an actual funny joke that a Republican made I'm not even sure that I'm bipartisan. Bi means you like both I might be trans partisan 'use I can't identify with either some days I mean, look, It's so much better than I identify as an American. like I know My pronouns are USA. It's like, wow, you can write. No, he wrote a real joke that like it was funny. It was like, you know, just it plays in the ss same peopleople's discomfort. It was And it was funny without being offensive. Like this is the problem with most Republicans. If they're even remotely funny some of the time, it's at the expense of somebody. You know what I mean? Yeah. And that was just like, okay, he did a joke. And it was kind of at his own expense, but not really. I don't know. It was good. The person who beat him in the primary is a former Navy seL named Ed Galraan. who had refused to debate him. because he would have gotten his ass. He refused to debate him and also he tells everyone he's a farmer, but neare as I could tell, it's his cousin, who's the farmer He's like fifth generation, like his family, they have some farm south of Cincinnati. and like he refers to himself as a farmer. And I kept trying to look. And it's like nothing identified him as the actual farmer. How funny is. His cousin is the one who a farm. How far along in your family lore can you transfer professions and claim them to be your own for down home bona fides Because I mean, I don't know, according to him, I fucking got Jews out of Germany during World War two. I That was what myoma did. I'm an avid deer hunter Yeah I also traveled to South Dakota every year to hunt pheasants and I bring them home and eat them. Like if someone can find information to the contrary, but I like I poked around a bit and I could not find evidence that he himself was an actual farmer, not just just a part of a farming family. If we have any listeners in that region of the country, which tell us. Tell us hisar at crooked dot com d Hysteriaro dot comot Does he reallyve merove me I my research wrong. In our Christy Noome, this fucking guy, in the comments, there was one person who was like, you know, she's not like she just rides her horse around. It's not really like a random. Yeah. Yeahah, it was like, I love that shit. If you have any tea, tell us on people that are pretending to be farmers, specifically, hysteria at crout dot comot we love hearing from you regardless of whether or not you have tea All right we have got a upbeat update. Yeah, let's do it. A few weeks ago, we covered the Louisiana lawsuit against the FDA that reinstated an in person requirement for Mhapristone prescriptions.. But last Thursday, the Supreme Court decided that Mifipristone will remain available via telehealth That's good news. That's good news. That means if you live in a state with an abortion ban, you can still access mipopristone. You can access abortion drugs privately via telehealth, and you can get them mailed to your house Um And that's good. The court did not disclose the vote count, but Justice Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito publicly dissented when they did were when they big m. When they dissent together, I just picture them like holding hands and doing it. Like picture them I picture them like up lumpas, like I think that they I picture them having a room, a special room in the Supreme Court where they have two beds like Burton Ernie. And that's tot one hundred percent C and an S and they both like they have their special beds and like one of them sings about they sing about love. See, I picture them at the threshold of a door staring angrily at Amy Coney Barrett and John Roberts and Bret Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and then just like looking out the window. just like not making eye contact. I Picture them like the twins and the shining Like you're riding your riding your little big wheel down the halls of the Supreme Court and you come around a corner and there they are wearing matching blue dresses staring at you, being like, come play with us forever. We're in the federalist society. Alito was real snipy about this. We knew he would be. Yeah, he's such a little bitch, but what he just can't. He's got to be mad all the time. So mad. Maybe his wife can fly a flag about it Upside down. Upside down she does fuck out. Yeah, Martha Anne M Oh my Godd, I almost forgot about Martha and she's a flag hag. Her house on the lake with her flag. Yes Alito said, The court's unreasonable order granting stays in this case is remarkable. What is at stake is the perpetration of a scheme to undermine our decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The US mail The US mail is not a scheme predated, it predated decision L this is just people taking a look at the lay of the land and being like, oh, yeah, we can just do this via telehealth. Yeahah, this seems fine Okay, so very dramatic, very dramatic. Yeah Well, something that's really interesting about this is that Donald Trump himself has been pressured. The Trump administration has been pressured to do something about Mipiprone. They haven't since he was inaugurated a second time because Donald Trump actually always had cont doesn't care. Yeah, he doesn't care about pro life stuff at all. He doesn't care at all. He doesn't care one bit because he's done needing them. So why? Be he's not pro life himself. Yeah, whyy would he do that Why would he do anything for somebody who he doesn't need something from? So there was a generic version of Mipapristone, I believe, that got approved in the last couple years, and he didn't do anything to restrict Mipapristone access via telemedicine or over the mail U And so pro life people have been pretty mad at him But what's interesting about this is that I saw an article yesterday, forget where it's from. but it was basically like, this is actually kind of bad politically for Donald Trump Because the last thing he wants to talk about is abortion Right Because abortion is really bad for Republicans to talk about because their stance on abortion is only held by like twenty five percent of the country. Right. because most of America agrees that like women should have a right to choose. So do you think that this is just pro life the pro life group the pro life contingent block that ever extent Yeah Do you think that this is them just like getting completely carried away with themselves and thinking I do. okay. I do. They're a hundred like you look, you got your win. okay? Like just The thing about it is they have so here's here's the win that they have gotten and why Donald Trump, like, I don't think that he will run. I think he will run away from abortion because it is so confusing You could not say across the country, we used to be able to say where you could get abortions And now how you can get one, where you can get one, very state by state, it is so confusing of these all of these rulings that keep coming out just keep confusing people more and more. And so like I just don't know even what he would run on. Do you know what I mean? Like it wouldn't make any sense for him because at the at a point you start actually, I think, walking into the territory where you can't possibly be pro life because you are endangering the lives of women so gravely. Right. And that's, I think something that a lot of people who are absolutely not medical doctors are realizing now or having to be told over and over again, the care for an elective abortion. So if I got pregnant right this second and I was like, I just don't want to have a baby It would be exactly the same course of care If I want if I just chose to because I just wanted to not be pregnant, as if I had had a miscarriage and needed to have the miscarriage managed. Theese same thing So doctors who are practicing OBGYN, like doctors who are going to medical school to be OBGYN's to learn how to do the exact thing that abortion is because it is something that is used in obstetric and gynecological care I like the reason that a person wants it does not change what the care is And I don't think people understand that. I see that like It's sort of like running into a wall over and over again, people being like, well, it's not, doctors shouldn't learn how to do abortions. in medical schools it's like, well, then they're not learning how to be Right. You know, like, what are you? The reason doesn't change the procedure Anyway, exxactly. But it's one of those things that I think people just deliberately don't want They don't want to face. They don't want because it's very inconvenient information for the pro life argument. Well U Sam Alito being a little bitch News at ten, like he He's just, that's what he's gonna do. We're gonna take a quick break when we come back more news. Hysteria is brought you by Quintince. I know when they talk about this, I can't help but think of the scene in the thriller video when all of the dead zombies come up and they all because they're gray and this is like what the statice are gonna to be. I'm like, oh, he wants the thriller video, which actually kind of tracks because he's stuck in the eighties. Oh yeah, you know what? the thriller house is in Angelino Heights in L. Is it really? Yes. A few weeks maybe a couple monthso. I don't know. what is time We were on a walk in that neighborhood, and we walked past it. I was like, whyy are these people like in front of this house. it was the thriller house? Yeah Angelino It's like really pretty. It's all like Victorians and some of them are very well maintained historical things. and yeah the thriller house still has kind of an es A scance. My God, you know what you and I are gonna see each other this weekend And you have never seen me do my Michael Jackson. What? I can't believe I haven't. I've seen you do a dance where you just kind of like absently are the only one dancing and you're off by yourself kind of turning around and around and around. No No, I have some Michael Jackson moves because I too am sometimes stuck in the eighties. Oh yeah. Well, you know what? the eighties were a time when people were not like paralyzed by by the idea of constantly being surveilled. And so they're more able to have fun and be ggeous like Yeah doing our thing. I mean, like I know half of the music videos you watch them now, like tears for fears and You know, and Oh my God, Pil Cin, like they' they're just really like going They were people were so unselfelf aware. it's an incredible to watch. It was an amazing era. and I think that we should get back to not caring that people are maybe filming us and putting it on TikTok to make fun of us. But Yeah, the Garden of H heroes the Garden of Heroes Garden of Heroes. So as if the Rose Garden, the ballroom, the reflecting pool, which is bubbling up in varying shades of blue apparently and the Kennedy Center aren't enough. Trump has another pet project, the Garden of Heroes. Now there's a this is This is he has to just stop. someomeone has to stop him. This is a park with planned dining facilities and amphitheater. and the centerpiece two hundred and fifty life size statues of notable Americans. Now Earon, he's been talking about this since his first term He's talking now on truth social. The garden's going to be located in West Potomac Park near the Jefferson and MLK Memorials Here's the thing peopleeople who are not familiar with Washington, D.C When you think of the cherry blossoms, This is the area he wants to destroy It Like the most beautiful, it is the parkland for Washington, DC. It's where people ride their bikes. I mean, it's so beautiful. And the monuments that are all there are beautiful. And like, can you just imagine what two hundred and fifty statues of Randos is gonna be like? I mean I think Donald Trump hates nature He is like ant He hates nature. like an anti natural person. Like he doesn't the Rse Garden. Yeah. I mean, like Mar a Lago face is like an extremely unnatural perversion of like the female form. Like the Maro Lago body is like yeah milation. A golf course to me is like a mutilation. Gf Golf courses are the Maro Lago face of landscaping. L they are monstrous to me. I mean, I think probably a lot of people agree with me. I think they're disgusting. The rosegarden, when he's done, paved it over. like gotten rid of every possibility that a bug might be there. Anything that was beautiful and wild and drew nature near him, he is just paving over The project is tied to America's two hundred fiftieth celebration. Get it two hundred and fifty ceues But why think something bad's gonna happen between now and then and we're gonna to have to cancel some of these things. I hope so. I mean, you hope something bad happens? No, I don't hope something bad happens, but this is like he is literally planning his Barmitzvah. I mean, this is like the craz, he thinks it is all about him. He is kicking off everything on his birthday, which just happens to be flag day. But like here's the thing So they leak or they release, I don't know, this list of might who the two hundred and fifty people might be And Eron The list felt a little suss to me. Okay. felt a little sus because there were people who like objectively, you're like, oh, these seem like Whitney Houston and Kobe Bryan RBG. AK There is something called the Cemorative Works Act which requires twenty five years to pass before memorializing an event or the death of an individual. Now weird because Trump did put his name on theennedy the Kennedy Center Memorial Okay But so here's the thing RBG's on the list Well, she'll get tossed because of the commemorative workorks A. All right? I know when when has he ever followed laws? Well, this is the one time he's going to follow laws. They're trying to like put this out to seem like they're not horrible. But my favorite one, I was like So like Whitney Houston, same thing. She's not been passed for twenty five years. Same with Kobe Bryant. But then I'm like, Ingrid Bergman Why is Ingrid Bergman on the list? But she's Swedish. Yeahah. She's not American And so I look And according to the American Film Institute, she's the fourth greatest female screen legend. Katherine Hepperurn, Betty Davis, Audrey Heppper all come before her. I'm like, so why her And then I googled Ingrid Bergman Republican Registered Republican, vocal supporter of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. The world's worst Swede Like What like it's like it's just, but so when you actually start looking at the ones that you're like You know, he had all of like Nelly Gray, anti abortion activists, founded March for Life. The Republican, the looy of like fringe ones made sense, but I'm like, what are the ones that seem benevolent No, but some of them just had like really strange I don't know. They just some of them the ones that seemed benevolent seemed like they were going to get kicked out. This feels like idolatry and I know I've been listening to a lot of like lunatic fringe content lately because I' you know, just Why? Why not? Like why are we building all of these statues and arches and like it's crazy. It's so weird. and that The thing is Donald Trump is terrified of dying He is terrified of dying. And I think that he's never really, in his entire life fully acknowledged that one day his life is going to come to an end as everybody's life comes to an end. And that he'll be forgotten just like every just like everybody else. And that the only thing that stands between him and like Dust are things that he can build that he believes will outlast him. And yeah and put his name on. Yeah. But the thing is those things aren't hard to tear down No, and I just I really Like the arc Trump It's like Nobody like this, I haven't seen this in a lot of articles, but In Washington, DC, there is no building taller than the Washington Monument. Like you just can't build building. And I think this one is like, it's like ten feet shorter than the Capitol, but I think it comes close to the Washington Monument. and it's like, what's wrong with you How ignored where you as a child that this is what we all have to deal with now. Yeah, it's pretty wild. One more thing before we take a break and get to our interview. Yeah. So California is a state that I think politically kind of flies it flies under the radar politically just because there's so much other shit going on out here. Well because everyone just assumes. Everybody just assumes that it's I mean, also people who live here, I think, have a little bit of a lackadaisical attitude toward national politics and state politics because national politics take place so far away from California that it feels like it's in another country sometimes. I think that's changed a little bit under the Trump administration just because of the way that immigration enforcement has brought that to people's front yards in a way that people can't ignore But I think generally speaking, there are more people here that are kind of like up their own butts and in their own little world than there are in places where that's not as possible However What's going on in California politics right now is bananas It is like bananas. It's pretty bananas. so The California prrimary is a couple weeks away. It's june second That's the last day to vote. Most people vote. Most people vote by mail, or they drop off their ballots at like a library or something. And with our wild, we have a jungle primary system, which means that In the entire field, the top two vote getters advance to the general unless somebody gets over fifty percent, but usually nobody gets over fifty percent in a jungle primary You can vote for whoever you want. So it becomes kind of a game of strategy for people who are trying to deal like get out the vote efforts. It's like, here's the two people you should vote for in order to shut this person out of the top two or right, you know, this person might not be your favorite candidate, but they have the best chance of being in the top two, so that's whoot for. Almost like a weird rank choice voting. It is like rank choice voting except it's really risky. You only get to like it's It's really really you get to vote for your number one choice. It's just very, very strange. This applies to governor other statewide positions like liieutant Gvernor, attorney general, and then Senate and assembly seats and U.S. congressional offices And this was added to the state Constitution in twenty ten under Arnold Schwarzenegger to deinentivize partisanship. But what's happening instead is There's too many Democrats running. It is. I watched the debate. It was insane. There's too many Democrats running. We've got former Cgresswoman, Katie Porter. We've got former AGS Secretary, JXavier Bisera. We've got Mayor of San Jose, Matt Mayhan, we've got Tom Steyr. who seems like a nice guy, but he's like a billionaire. So I don't know why we're like, yes, the billionaire, but whatever. We've got a guy named Tony Thurmond, who is the state suuperintendent of Public inststruction. We've got Antonio Via Rgosa Chad Bianco, a Republican and Steve Hton Republican. there's two Republicans and like a bajillion Democrats and there was some fear early on that the top two vote getters be Really? Yeah because I mean, Chad Bianca was like kind of nut in the debate. I mean, it's not that Steve Hilton wasn't. I was most confused when I watched and I was like, wait, he's not American. He is American as of twenty twenty one. Oh, interesting. So Steve Hilton is just, he's like a Melenia American where he just He is. he's got like such this thick British accent that I was like, wait, what? And he was a dual citizen up until last year Hm, suss. yeah. so It's weird. And people right now are like, who do we vote for? Josh and I, my husband and I kind of like we do the household voting thing Oh, that's okay. Okay where we just we sit down and we talk about, I mean, I know it's very like trad, but we it's not trad. We sit down and we talk about it and we like go through like different progressive voting guides and we like discuss it. and sometimes he's just like, which one do I vote for? Like he'll ask me because I'm the more informed You do. You live it. I have to be But usually, you know, I whatever. we'll talk about it, and we'll both cast our votes for usually the same people And um We're both kind of like the other night we were like, who are we voting for?ike I have to say watching that debate and granted, I'm in New York, so it's like, you know you know, not my notot my bucket, but like, It was hard to watch like if you have to judge based on watching a debate, which is kind of the most readily available information most people have, it's hard. Yeah It's hard and our the media center of or the capital of California is in Sacramento, and that's very far from LA. And so it just feels like the population center of the state is notar close to the capapitol. And so there's this weird disconnect. People still think it's happen far away, I guess it's like New Yorkity, Albanyy in a way. Yeah But yeah, there's just like the vibes here are strange. People don't know who they're voting for. I' gotten into one at least one heated discussion, not me taking a stance, absorbing another crooked employee's very vehement stance against one of the Democratic p like okay. people have very strong opinions and like I just I don't know who I'm gonna vote for. Like there's a couple there's like a few finalists But don' o. I don't know who I'm going to vote for. And this was partly due to like the disarray that happened after Eric Swalwell was revealed to be a sexual predator and he dropped out of the race because he was the front runner, right? He was I mean, there wasn't a clear front rununner, but he was at the top of the pack, usually. Right. Yeah. The latest polling from Emerson College shows Bisera in the lead at nineteen percent was Styr and Hilton Tide for second at seventeen percent. I heard another poll this morning that showed Hilton in the lead with with Bisera second and Styr thir like it's kind of all over the place. Like S, I think I think that Steyr benefits from being like telegenic, like he's good on TV and he's, I guess sort of benevolent He's a more benevolent billionaire. Like he's actually done cl like he's done he's tried. he has in climate change unwavering devotion, at least in words to actual progressive ideals. Yeah. But the question is, does he have the chops to enact these ideals? or does he just not know where the architecture of things are? And then there's another candidate who might know a little bit more about how things work who doesn't really want to do the things that I want them to do. And it's like, ye Yeah, it's tough. It's tough. And it sucks because it's like we should we do have a deep bench. We have a lot of talented Um Passionate. public servants in California that are progressive I also am kind of like, why I want more I don't know Well, there's no one who has scratched your itch thus far No, not really. and not one hundred percent. L there are people that are like almost there, but you know, that's what politics is, I guess. You just you vote for the person that you think is going to do the best job given the options. Right Exactly. And yeah, we'll see what happens. It's really, really getting crazy. And then also the LA Mayoral race is a little bit. Oh my God, that debate. I watched that one too because I kiss I'm like I see things on social media and I'm like, I need to know a little bit more. And I was like, this can't what is everyone talking about Spencer Pratt for Anden I watched the debate and I under look He has the same like characteristics is Donald Trump. And I don't in that he is an entertainer, he is a performer and he is good at that. You know what I mean? He can he can sell it. I don't mean, but then you listen and I'm like, what are you actually selling? I watched, but that debate was I was like, oh, dear. Yeah because It was it was I felt You know, Karen Bass, like you always have to feel bad for the person who's got the job I know that there are people who are you know, upset about how she handled the fires and she wasn't there when everything happened and she was abroad. and why is a mayor abroad all those things But then I'm also like She has tried to make a dent in the home in the unhoused problem and she's trying, you know, it's like I don't know, just I always feel bad for coment. really It's really wild. I will say, and I've reminded people of this and we did like a rapid response with Megan Galey we talked about this a little bit, but I just want to remind people who aren't, who don't live here, who haven't lived here. That the LA Mor is like a very unpowerful mayor. right That Erica's sidious job. you were in. That was the most interesting thing I learned from the debate. Yes, how little power they have. They can like, they can like appoint commissioners and stuff. They can they can't really like do very much. They can They can hire some people, they can fire some people, they can issue proclamations. There's not that much they can do. The city cououncil is actually really powerful Right And the countounty Board of suupervisors is also very powerful and it's just very, it's weird. LA. County is weird. There's like ten million plus people who live here which is bigger than I think forty states. And we're run by a wild overlap of competing entities. Yeah. Some of which have a lot of power and nobody really follows. some of which have very little power and everybody follows. And that's why like LA Mor is one of Aica's shittiest jobs. Like you just you just you take power, you are the face bunch of shit that other people but you kind of can't fix exxactly. Yeah. And so it's at that being said, it's not inconsequential Like And I really would be disappointed in My adopted city if they chose a Charlatan who once spent ten million dollars in the run up to twenty twelve because they thought the Mayan apocalypse was nigh So it's but it's okay, this is my question though I understand why he does well on social media, but he's not gonna win. L that's not like a real thing, is it? I don't know I don't know. Wow. I don't know. I feel about him the way I felt about Donald Trump and the run upp to twenty sixteen. Oh that people might just not be saying they're going to vote for him out loud. I think that the polls are underrepresenting how well he's may be doing. I think that I think yes. and then I also think like in the run up to twenty sixteen, I was very confident that Hillary Clinton was going to win because I was like this fucking clown, like who who's serious can Right Vote for him. but now I'm kind of like, I don't know. I don't know. I mean, my expectations for voters very low So well, the one thing I'll say for him did know more than I thought he would know He's like's more he's done more homework than I would say Donald Trump did. You know? L like I felt like he knew more about the policies and the ins and outs of like LA than Trump knew about being president or whatever the. But me let me just push back. There have been times in the past when I've had to go on cable news years ago and The topic I was supposed to cover changed in the car on the way to the studio And what I had to do was like read an article real quick and be like, okay, okay, commit this to memory. L what can I say about this? What do I think? And then just like vomit it back out? Is not that hard prep for something. No, no, I'm not saying he's a genius. Yeah. I'm saying that he at least has done a little more legwork than Donald Trump had done. right. Well, yeah, TBD We'll see what happens on june second. U We've got a dark week between now and then so Yeah, seriously. A That's my final thoughts on the California prrimaries. We'll see what happens. Now joining us, we have lawyer and activist Rushma Sujani. She's the founder and CEO of Moms First, an organization that advocates for affordable child carere, paid family leave, and equal pay for moms. fans of all those things. Her new documentary, No Country for Mothers preremieres in June. Rushma, welcome back to Hysteria Mm, Thankk you for having me. This is my favorite place to be. us Come on. Thats It really kind of is. my favorites. Oh, thanks so much. Well, starting off, can you tell us about how No Country for Mothers came to be? And what was it like being trailed by cameras Listen, I think America is Broken by design, right? Like We're just basically set up to fail. and it's always been like this. Like for the past two hundred and fifty years, we've been getting conned And since the ink dried on the Constitution, right? Why is school pick up at three hundred thirty and the work dayday end at six? why do we pay more for our childca than our mortgage? And so to me, I think that most mothers that I talk to and that I've met, including myself, I'm like, oh, I'm broken. I'm fucking it all up, right? And it's really the structure. And so I wanted to do a documentary that really explained it and explain the fact that like This has been this way for two hundred and fifty years. Like the Tradwife's not new, girl. Like that's like OG. Phllis Llaghley, right? Like she was the OG Tradwife. And she had' know She had totally. Yeah, did And like there's nothing more powerful than a pissed off mom. And I think when you feel like you've been conned, like you've been tricked, and you see it, you can't unsee it. And that's how you ignite the revolution. And that's why I wanted to do this film. I did not I could never be a reality TV star.. I was like, don't this camera thing, right? I don't like it's not There was like probably a hot mike moment like every day. so. So Rhma, I have to ask because I think that we all think that Ivanka thinks that she's going be president someday. And in the documentary I saw I think it was twenty sixteen when you got to question Trump at the Economic Club of New York And Trump was talking about how impactful Ivanka's work has been What if anything has Ivanka done to help moms Look, I mean, I T give her some credit. Okay I do think when I talk to Republicans today and I say, hey, like what's going on here? Like you guys are talking about the birth rate, right? You're talking about how you want people to have more babies. You know that childcare is like the linnchpin of affordability. Everything that I see in the polling and the focus groups that we've done is like Republicans want them to fix childcare, why don't you do it You know, why don't you do so much health carere and paid leave? And like what I have heard over and over again is that like Ivanka was a big champion in the administration and they just don't have that person, you know I mean in the administration right now. And so that's why it looks and it feels messy So I didn't work with her on these issues back in the day or I haven't spoken to her on these issues now, But I think that's why you hear that feedback often, right? that she's seen as like the person, right who was championing those initiatives. Yeah, it's one of those things that they just heard over and over again and they just kind of repeat it without fact checking it They're like, yeah, that. Yeah, it's a Right because similar to Biden, like he could have got it done. He could get it done now Like, yeah Well, the GOP throughout history has used culture wars around women and mothers to help win elections. like Reagan dropped the ERA from the GOP platform in nineteen eighty after the GOP had endorsed the ERA for forty years. In nineteen seventy one, Nixon vetoed the compomrehensive Child Care Development Act, federally funded dayaycare after Congress passed it because he wanted the problem, not a solution Are we at a point yet where the politicization of motherhood will fire on the party doing the politicizing I mean, I love what you just said is so important. It was one of the things I learned know in making no country for mothers that like Phllish Laughway wasn't you know, a pawn of the Republicans. The Republicans saw her and said, who's that lady? Yeah Who are those Who are those people, right? excited or about, you know, stopping the ERA? And that's how everything shifted. And I thought that that was like a really interesting piece of history because Like, division has always been there And that's To me, the work that we have in front of us is like it doesn't have to quite frankly be this way. Like it can end it. You know, if you look at moms dot gov, like that is like the Republicans' greatest hits on the culture Wars. Oh my God It's wild. right It's like, Ohh, you don't like birth control. We're here for you. Oh, like you're against abortion. We're here for you. Oh, you want to be shamed, you know I mean for bottle feeding? Come over here, Ohh, you don't wantan to vaccinate your kit. so it's like almost every single culture war, every single point of division is like a bullet point on that website. It's wild. So they know because they've been doing it since Nixon, since Phil Schl. They know that it actually works and it galvanizes their voters. You know, it turns them out Rreshmut, you Now, I couldn't tell watching the doc if you yourself were at TP USA and the young Women's Leadership confonference or just the film crew was The film crew was there. Okay So there's a description of Erica Kirk as the modern day Phllish Schlaghley specifically in the idea of her being a privileged woman policing other women And so TP USA the mantra of these mostly white women rallying at the phrase live, out vote and out reproduce the left. I really felt like like encapsulates their movement So like how How How do we fight against that I think that we have to offer another alternative that's not just being a girl boss I think part of that movement has quite frankly been built on the fact like the alternatives both options suck, you know? And I think and the thing is is like the girl bosses like keep showing up. I mean, you've seen it far recently and most recently. And I think it's both influencers, quite frankly on both sides, whether they're tradwives or girl bosses, selling lies, making you feel guilty, making you feel like a bad mom to get famous and sell books And so until like Quite frankly, like we there's another alternative And to me, we know what that alternative is. It's freedom and choice. It's like, give me control over my time Give me control over my options because I have yet to meet a woman who wants to either spend her time milking a cow or hu so hard that she never sees her kids. I haven't met her and I have met hundreds and thousands of moms. So to me, Both of them are a lie And both of them are just about making money and conning us. So There I think that there are women who were at the conference. and again, I've spent a lot of time I've gone to these events, I've met these women, I've interviewed them. It's like Everybody is just desperately looking for something and quite frankly, looking not to be judged. I mean, one of the women that we that's in the film, I mean, she had a child that you know, after had received the vaccine, got really sick.. And in her mind, she was like, thats what that's the only thing that's happened. That's the only thing that's happened. She talked to moms at her school. She'd sit at the partbidge and every better give her to look like you're crazy. So what did she do? She ended up going online and Facebook and found a community R off moms who didn't think she was crazy I heard this story over and over and over again, right? And so to me, if we can like literally stop ourselves from the judgment. And let's just let people be and make their choices and fight for the things that we know that we all need I think we can get a lot of this stuff done. But it does mean that we got to spend some time at the turning point Cress, and we can't just say they're all crazy 'cause they're not right.. I think I totally understand I think I have a lot of sympathy for people who want to be tradwives and girl bosses, like both of them. Even though I understand like you're saying, I think I'm old enough to understand that they're both a lie. But I think that their lies constructed to make them feel as though if they fulfill a series of steps that they will be able to sidestep the pain of life L if you only do these things, like if you do this and you work really hard in your career and you have like the incredible matching fits and like the office and the cute little like you get driven to to work every day in a black car. Like if you have that, then you'll be happy. And it's like, no, there is no specific Cat. to being Like it just feels as though it's they're selling us a happiness that is like way simpler than the reality Right? That doesn't exist. And don't you feel like I don't know, man. I feel like happiness for me is like There's a little bit of there's joy that I feel in getting up at six thirty. and I know this is to sound crazy, but like in like getting up at six thirty in the morning, getting my kids breakfast done, getting them dressed, seeing their little faces before I throw on the suit and come and sit down with you. right? There is like It's messy and it's like a little bit it's tiring and exhausting, but you know what? at least I have I'm thinking about someone else besides me every day. And I'm also getting to use my brain. But you know, but that's Rreshma's choice, right? So like I remember, you know, I would go to conferences and Sean would be upset that I'm leaving, you're flying again, you're going to I mean, you guys have all heard this, right And I'd get there and I'd tell the story on the conference stage and all the moms would be like, Oh don't worry about it. He's not going to remember. And I'm like, no, no, no, I'm going to remember I want a job where I can actually see my kids, be with my kids. I don't want to be on this plane. I may not even want to be here at this conference, right? But it's almost like We denied ourselves a choice by articulating that, that didn't mean that that meant that I wasn't serious about this childca I want to pass or Rles and coding, right? Or if like I did want to do those things and I am the mom, who all the moms who, you know aren't doing what I'm doing, they're the ones like, Hey, Rashma, it's swim today. Don't forget to you know put Packsh on swimsuit, right? It's like We have to let women find the choice and do the thing that works for them. What bothers me about girl boss is that it's like the only way you could be successful. The only way that you could make it is if you do this is if you only see your kids three hours a day, as if you hustle so hard that you never see them is that if you pretend, if you don't ask about work life balance, and I just call bullshit on that, right? And I think for Tradwives, if they were so damn fulfilled, they wouldn't be trying to sell Jam rightight? Sourdough starter all day long. Sourdough starter and like aprons, like bespoke aprons. One of the things that I thought was really interesting in the documentary was how you talked about the role of social media in unearthing and like giving the voice to the struggle of moms. Can you talk about that a little bit? Yeah, I mean, listen, I think social media is like an accelerator all of this. It's like twenty four seven judgment in your phone R? It's like imagine if in you know, if during the AA movement, right they had Facebook and Instagram TkTk, right?s what that's what it constantly feels like. So you're constantly being told that you're not good enough, that you're not doing enough, that you were bad, that you were bad, that you were bad, and that you were judged. Rage baiting is how these technology companies quite frankly make money. It goes back, like people always say to me, well, who's benefiting from this con Right Politicians are benefiting. right You see this with moms. gov. I'm going to insert a culture war because I have midterms in four months. and I need y'all to organize, you know what I mean so we can get elected. That is about winning elections. Culture wars serve them for that. I think for influencers, we see this all the time on both sides, whether it's a book, whether it's sourdough bread starter,? It's like I actually have to create division you know, in order to make money and be famous. And I think for technology companies, that's how they make money, ad money by rage b Without it, they're nothing And so all of these things, quite frankly, are manufactured other people to make money and to get power except for us. And we fall for it every single timeime. Like I know moms, if they spent the total amount of time that they spent in the comment section You know what mean or making response videos if we took all that time. you know what I mean? and put it towards winning childcare? we'd have that by now. Yeah. something that I've Notice like as a mom and consuming social media content is there's a lot of toxicity out there for sure But I've also found that it has given moms space to have mixed feelings about their lives because life is complicated and it's okay to be like this morning my two year old wanted to smash her face on my face. It's hard like put her entire body like I'm laying down, I'm trying to get a couple extra minutes of sleep and she wants to smash her face against face. And I was like, this is really cute, but I also don't like this right now. You know And I think that it just it gave me sometometimes I think on a positive side, it makes it acknowledges that like not everything about your life as a mom is going to be like cakes and rainbows and cute little hugs. Sometimes it's all of your shirts have like tomato sauce handprints on them because bathime happens right after dinner time and they only will eat spaghetti. So it's like, yeah I think that there's like there's an interesting legacy there where it's kind of positive and negative and it's just, yeah, I feel like it's gotten more honest. After COVID But I think it also depends on the platform. On TikTok, it's harder to be honest about how you feel about motherhood without getting shamed. you know on IG And in LinkedIn, you know, oftentimes like that I think it's great for like urring a conversation. I mean, like when we post about how much you pay for child carere, like I do feel like, you know, three years ago when we've really been, you know, relentless communication on this topic, I think part of that happened on social R? Like part of these wins that we've gotten is because the People are like, oh wait, you too You're spending your entire paycheck, you know what I mean on child carere for two humans. I think it just, again, created some transparency. And I think that that's been really, really, really pos really, you know, But I think the problem is it's so easy to engage in ragebait. Come on, I know exactly what I need to go and say to get a million people talking. . You do too. right? And I think we intentionally though Do not do that because we're trying to actually have a conversation. R? We're trying to try to make change. Right. No, we're not trying to sell shit or like get engagements or get our engagement, but I see that happen all the time Yeah. and we're not playing the game. but most people are Yeah, and that's I mean, that's what the game is, which is unfortunate. Well, shifting gears really quick, canan you explain for listeners the mom's first victory with Governor Hol this year Yeah, so so basically a, you know, a handful of year I would say when she first got Um she first got the job and I had known her through Girls Re Code U we start and I started working on these issues, I was like, look There's a real opportunity here you know, like there's a real opportunity here for you to be the first mom women's goveror because I do feel like A lot of this change What's going to happen? a female governor. You know, the first were going to happen by that played out to be quite frankly true. And so so Kathy was always very passate about these issues. She was, you know a working mom, she had, you know what I mean? I came from that background. She had to like take steps in her backwards in her career because she couldn't afford childcare. You know, she's got like she knows that issue intimately. It's not a talking point or a nice to have or an ideology. It's the real life And so, you know, I think when all the stars aligned You know, we really worked closely with her team in figuring out like what we can do here in New York to put us on the path to universality. And we had a mayor R? who also was excited to do something and also I think who represented like the three of us Now were're a bunch of moms, right being like, can you please do this? But like a generation, quite frankly, of millennials, many who didn't have kids, who saw it as what we had always seen it as an affordability issue That this is like, don't take my choice away from me. Don't price me out of parenthood, right? Like what do I want my future to look like? So it was just, again, I think the perfect confluence of political leaders, you know I mean, of like the movement being ripe And real clarity on this as an economic issue and not a women's issue. And I think that that's how we got it over the finish line. And I think we're working very closely with a handful of other governors across the country to do the same. And so I think president has signaled like I got billions for bombs, but pennies for kids. on donon't expect it from me, right? And so we've gotten clear indication from him that it's unlikely to happen with this administration. And I think that that has put a fire under both I think governors who care about this, the activists who see this, right again, a bread and butter issue to like start looking for places in different states where this can this policy can pass. And I think there's some real bright lights. Amazing From your lips to God's ears, Rhma Sz Dani, thank you so much for joining us and And it's always thank you. Its always a pleasure to see you. I've got a Sanny Me too. Wow You go first. Okay., I founded a new show to watch and I really like What? It's Widows Bay. It's on TV plus. Matthew Rese. Matthew Rhese who I think I haven't explicitly told my husband this, but I think he knows that Matthew Rese is my haall passass Who doesn't love Matthew? He's such a good actor, like regardless, he's just very he's great. It is like a spookyky show about a haunted sea town in like an indeterminate location in New Eland. Who doesn't love a spooky sea town? It's a spookyook It's a little bit silly It' got it like I would say tone wise, it's similar to twwin Peaks. Okay. So there's a mix of like silly quirkyness local characters, whatever, and like extremely scary, unsettling. Sit. And there's like, it's not really jump scary. There's like there's moments of there's like kind of foreboding and is glory? I there hasn't been any gore. Okay. There's been like one One dead body but no like goore. And there's been like a monster type character that is hookyooky. It's fun. It's like sea legends. There's a sea haag and there's like Oh, it's fun. I'm really loving it. We're like four episodes in. All of the cast is great. The guy from the guy who wanna Jeff Hiller. Yes. Hill's in it. and he's so funny. I love one of the cast members of Reous Gemstones is in it. He plays the Oh yes, the husband of the daughter of the Gemstone family. But it's a great cast. Everyone's super like Perfect like perfectly cast. It's a great spooky summer show it's got kind of like C coastal vibes or it's like haunted. I love a coastal vibe. Look, I'm coastal today. Yeah, you are. you've been wearing stripes. This is a psch It's been a week of stpes. It's like I've rotated my clothes out of the winter tupper wear. Do we need You know what I mean? Do we need a spooky intervention Do a stripey intervention, sorry spooky I'm notking about spooky. I don't know. I can't decide if it's, I mean, it's suppos to be on the east coast but also I don't know if you've ever been to Mendeino in Califnia It's a Northern Ptiest place ever. Oh it's I always text you when I'm there. You always tell me that I should live. You should live in Mendacino.es. It's beautiful. But it sort of reminds me a little bit of like Mendacino, a little bit of Montauk It's like when I've seen the trailer, it reads Maine to me. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know what I mean? it seems like like it has like the dankness of like a main spring. But so now any show that involves Maine or Nantuckett or any of those places, I always have to watch because I don't know, like weird things always happen in those places. Yeah. So here's the cool thing about this. I know that you're not very good about scares, but it's a type of scare where you can kind of tell that something is about to come. So I always like wrap myself in a blanket like Okaykay, yes. And I can do this Yeah And I'm good. There's not there haven't been any moments where it's like B yet So it's not like Hreditary or yeah, Hreditary is like the scariest movie that I've ever watched that I was like that. Hard no for me. Too much for me. The part where Tony Colettees on the ceiling Can't imagine, don't wan to know. Yourobably don't wantan to imagine. I don't want to know. you your imagination. But anyway, great show. I'm enjoying it. Other people should watch it so that I have somebody to talk about it with. Okay, well, I might start watching it. Okay, I'm gonna be on a plane and so I need to show download. downlad really good. Also planes are much planes are a good place to watch something a little scary ' you're surrounded by people, so you know nothing bad can happen. Right Totally. Well, And nothing but bad has ever happened on a plane. goodoodoy. All right, Alyisssa. what is what's your Sandy this week? Okay, haveave you heard of cookie quQeens No. Okay. So I am so my brain is blown by this So Cookie Queens is a documentary that's coming out in a couple weeks about girl Scouts selling their cookies. Okay. It is the most charming Dorable, interesting. like it's like it's like kind of a nice extended trailer. but here's the thing 's It's gotten rave reviews at all the film festivals. and I'm like, what a great thing for America right now It's produced by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. And so I do not know. this woman has had like I don't know who her PR team is, but they are asleep at the wheel. All of the good things that they do, she should be living and breathing this until it comes out. like this is It's like, I watch the I watch the trailer. And at the end, I'm like, oh, I take the link because I want to see the landing page I'm like Archwell Productions. Like what are they doing? This is the most good vibes movie you could hope for. And I'm like, she's Like what why are they not plastering this? L I just I think it's the funniest thing that this that this could be This is what she should do. Like this is this is what you would hope for her. You know what I mean? You're like, okay, this is the shit you should be doing. to be a you want to be a princip. And it was like a footnote. I couldn't believe it. but anyway, I cannot wait for it to come out. It looks perfect. I have to say, you know, we've kind of like it's not even a hate watch. Meghgan's like love Mean show. Yes It's very comforting Even though like it has moments of silliness. I have nothing like, you know, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been kind of trying to f their stride. But it's like you watch that show and you're like, Do the people who work with her like her? You know, like there are moments where you're like, why did they do that? Yeah. But this is but this to me. This is what she should be This should be her calling card. This is adorable. Amazing. Okay, well, I'm gonna have to check that out because I'm a big fan of troop Beverly Hills And anything with Girl Scout rememember T, Beverly Hill course, Shelly Long. Yeah. anyyway. ye, anything with Girl Scout cookies, I find very compelling. All right That's all the time we have for this week. I have a listener request. I This is gross. I don't know if I told you this, but like before like, I don't know, Eleanor was like all gross at the end of her life. Oh yeah. the last couple years of her life, she like lost a couple teeth And I saved one of her teeth and I want to make a necklace out of it. But I like I'm having a hard time finding somebody who would be like a reputable person to like make make it into You know that there is no judgment for me on this. Right. But like maybe make a mold of it and turn it into a necklace. So if any of our listeners know have done something like this or know somebody they can recommend, or even if you do something like this yourself, I am not trying to get anything free. I'm just looking for somebody that I can pay to make a necklace out of my cat tooth
