I look forward to it every Monday, two football seasons ago. One of the great interviews of our time . A bit of a wordsmith. You're always curious, what is Gonzo gonna say? What's gonna fly out of his mouth next? I think how he handled that yesterday, Keith on some level he has to thank us . I think that would be a good start. I think we were able to draw a lot of that out of him . I think our savvy interview techniques with Christian Gonzalez on Patriots Mondays two years ago. We called it man to man to man to man is what we called that. I think we've actually broke through with our ten questions for Gonzo because he didn't care for any of the questions prior to that. No, he didn't care for any yesterday. I think he likes I think he likes a rapid fire ten questions that style of interview more so than actual questions. Not everyone you come on this show every single week here on WEI, what is the name of this radio show? You got me hard hitting questions like that. Tell you so much better than I don't know. I couldn't tell you could tell you. You could give me a hundred million guaranteed. I couldn't tell you . I have no clue. You got me. Gotch gota jour yournalism at its finest. You got me. Now listen, your guys come on the show. They got to be prepared for the tough questions. And that was we don't we don't mess around. No, no, we're not just here to Josh with you as it were. But he was there and he was talking , you know, because we wondered like you got to hide the guy, like how's this really gonna work? Because if you had a list of players you would be interested in speaking with that were in attendance yesterday , he would be everybody's number one then. And after that, you know, I think you're interested in Kaishon Booty, which we'll get to and maybe a couple of other guys, but yeah, you look at some of the questions going into the season, that one remains number one for me. It should be front and center. Now that ArJ is a B patown riot, which we'll get to his . I would call it debut. I mean a mini camp performance yesterday . Along with some other thoughts Kay Sean Booty spoke as well, Mike Rebell will circle back to some of his comments from yesterday.' Were starting with the Patriots Mandatory mini camp day to today in Foxborough. So more of that coming up here today on Jones and Keith were going to have to get to the Red Sox. I think it's time for me to do something Keith that should have been done. Yeah , a while ago . Well, better late. Yeah, better late than never, but we're keeping tabs on how many games under five hundred, how many games out of the playoffs. Jones was literally the last guy hanging off. I was it was it. Is there anybody else out there? No. Welcome to the podium pal . Not that I've met . There's like everybody that thinks they suck over here and anybody who thinks they had a chance probably was just you? Probably some Twitter eggs, I imagine. No real human being. No real human beings. Jeslo. Breslo and his burner account No pot farm going. It's pretty much pot farms. Yeah. You can queue up and Chad Tracy's like the same name . We don't have it. You can queue up Dido for eleven o'clock because I think I'm done with the Red Sox . We'll do that later on. Plus to Wood you rather Wednesday here on Jones and Keith hashtag Dork minute at eleven forty five short show Quick Yeah, quick one quick quick show for us. You want the Red Sox back in your face today It's been too long with Red Sox baseball. First pitch one ten three game at twelve ten, we're going to hang out with the wow thing . So just a quick two hour sprint here, a little more than that on Jones Ankeef with all your phone calls six one se,ven,, wow thing down the hall, slamming energy drinks, head buttons . Got Kate Wait chewing wires. Nuts. It's like, I know we're moving, but you don't need to destroy the place Wild thing. They're going kn toock it down on their own. You don't need to do that. That's again at noon. With your phone call six seven seven nine seven nine three seven you can interact Twitter and Instagram at Jones and Keith. Watch along and chat twitch dot tv slash Boston WE LLY and I mean always a healthy chat going on on Twitch. Do the same on YouTube. You can watch there. You can chat there, just subscribe to W EI. A little more here from Gonzo. He decided to update the negotiations as they were. I'm all here. Familiar refrain from Christian Gonzalez yesterday throughout the course of the four or five minutes that he spoke with the media in a scrum. We got a long time to the season. So we still in're pretty early in the off season . So you know, we're focused on being here, showing being here for the team and you know doing my role and what I'm here for for this weekend and focused on that. Okay, appreciate you. That was the walkoff. That was it for yesterday. So that was he stopped himself short of just saying I'm showing up. Yeah. He said I'm sure I'm here for the team and I think I'm showing up because I don't want you to find. I think in that answer, he basically to ld you as well . And if I had to really gather the message from him yesterday, he didn't go scorched earth. No, but I think it was pretty clear. He's like, yeah, I talked to Devon Witherspoon all the time in a separate answer. And he's like, you know, we're all men in this line of work and you know, we understand it's a business sexist and that was a little sexist little sexist . But then that last piece there, the walkoff at the end. We got a long time till the season starts. Yeah, they're not close. He's like so that and I also feel like also what I think he feels patient though. Like I don't think he's going to like lose his mind. I think he's aware that hey, yeah, some of these guys signed their extension super early. Right? We always bring up the Derek Stingley example. He signed his in March , but then Patrick Certaine is probably the best corner in football signed his in September. I think right August no September. So yeah, he signed right around the start of the season. Yep. I think he wants the most money he can possibly get as anybody would and I think he's going to be patient about it. It doesn't sound like a guy who's just going to snap up the first offer given to him. I think he's going to wait and I don't think that's a shock , right? I mean, he's doing the money sign at the Celtics game . You know, one of the reports that we did get from Burpier was like he's not even just comparing himself to corners . So like you and I might think one hundred ten guaranteed gets it done . It may not. And I think he's willing to play the long game. At least that's how it came across yesterday. Okay, so what was your takeaway from Christian Gonzalez yesterday? What do you think his message was? Because I agree with you, Keith. I think he's like, well, I'm here now and he even said that in one of those answers. Well, I'm here, you know, to get what I want to do this weekend. He said weekend, but I think he meant week. Yep. Like I'm here now , but trading camps can be a different story and I don't want to get fine in the meantime he didn't do much yesterday on the field. He did not participate in eleven on eleven. He did some individual drills. He did some stretching, but he didn't participate in any of the team drills yesterday, which I guess if I'm being fair is honestly more than I expected him to do. I didn't even think he'd do some of the individual stuff yesterday, but it's effectively a hold in. Most of the beatriters are referring to it as just that . And yeah, when he's asked will you be here for training camp, we're going to be there atin Tingra Camp. This gets worked out. He's like, well, we got a long way to go. Long way to go. And to me, that's a no I won't. No, I will not be out there . And the way he answered it, when he wasn't hiding behind his agents, which you referenced a million different times in the answer. Of course, I'm not surprised by that. It's up to them to do it. In fact, I think Karen Gregian at one point was like who works for who? Is it important to you to be the highest paid corner in the league? And he's like, well, I'm going to leave that up to my agent. And she's like, No, it's important to you. And he still didn't answ er it. I think it's clear in his messaging there. So the message from Gonzo, he wants to be the highest paid corner. He's not going to be out there at training camp if they don't get it done and it doesn't seem close. I would say those to me were the main takeaways listening to him for five minutes. Yeah, I just feel like he's approaching this very much like the business side of it, which makes a lot of sense and he's waiting for his opportunity to strike it big. He mentioned how it's early. So he's right. It's June . We were talking with Kern before and you know, you had referenced how at one point Kern was like, I'll buy the second preseason game. But then when you really think about it, it should be earlier than that. I would put July. Like when we're down there with our Binnocks at camp if we're still not close or there's really nothing happening, then that's where I'm going to be a little bit more perturbed because like right now they're kind of going through I'm sure they're putting in playbook stuff and they're just sort of like making sure all these guys are good to go and he can be plopped in there and he's going to be your number one corner. But you do want to give him a little bit of a runway there. You don't want to just say like, hey the season starts. Are you ready ? But it's this is part of the process here. And so we don't know how far apart they are. It just seems like he 's willing to take his time. We don't know, but Rabel said yesterday there was no updates and I think Yanzo made it pretty clear and close. Yeah . So how concerned are you today ? And when we start to get concerned, what's your timeline for that? Again, six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven that's how you get in touch with Jones and keep more patriots talk on the way that would include Kisha Booty. I think some encouraging comments from him . We'll get to those in just two minutes. Again, two minutes. We're right back. AUD ACY. Type that into your app search, then download. Jones and Keith on W E with negotiations with Gonzales at this moment? I'm not involved with the negotiations. I'm involved with coaching this team. No what ? Nothing like that . Nothing to add still understand, you know, I mean, I don't think there's anything , you know, to report. I'll say that. Are you also expecting Christian to be limited from seeing ? I would say just like everybody else everybody has a plan and I got to make sure everybody's working and get when they need to get Mike Grabel yesterday on Christian Gonzalez nothing update. He's not involved. He's not Grabel has no say. It's amazing. Vabel and Gonzalez no one's involved in this whole thing. Maybe we do need to give Elliot Wolf more credeit for building the roster if Brave has nothing to do with it. Bravo's got nothing to do with it. Gonzo didn't even talk about it. It's just his agents . So yeah, I think they're both a little frustrated with the situation Gonz alez wants to get paid and Rabel wants him on the field and I'm not sure they're frustrated with each other but I think there's some frustration going on text line six seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven once again you id,iots are putting words in his mouth. I like that he's lumping but a lot of times we're just like Jones, you idiot. I like that it's both of us. Once again, you idiots are putting words in his mouth. Why don't you just report what he said? We've been playing what he said. Yeah, but when he says, you got to talk to my agents, we got to do some reading between the lines. He's got to interpret a lot of like patriot players like fortunately with him specifically and with this performance yesterday, he ain't say much . And so you got to read between the lines. So when he says there's a long way to go when he's asked, will you be at training camp? And he says, Well, there's a long way to go . I would interpret that as no, I won't be out there if I'm not paid. Now perhaps you have a different interpretation . That's what he said. What do you think he means? Because he really didn't say much other than you got to talk to my agents. Also when he was at the Celtics game a month or so ago and he did the money sign . S weh notould even mention it? No, you should not. Feel like you idiots. A picture often Jones is worth a thousand words and sometimes it's what Gonzales doesn't say. I think with the painters more than any other team and maybe it's just years of listening to Bellech like you're' forreced for toced to do that. You be like what do they really mean? And yeah, I just my takeaway was he's saying what he feels like is the right things, right? He's not torturing the team. The team's also not torturing him. This is a contract negotiation. They're not hiding around it. They're not saying that it isn't, right? It's clearly a contract thing. It's a hold in, which makes it fairly awkward, right? Because they're there, how much are you doing ? But I don't know, my biggest takeaway though was I feel like he thinks it's patiently mentioning that it's early talking about your agents. Like you're willing to play some hard ball here. Go talk to my agents. It doesn't sound like a guy was going to be on the field anytime soon. Are they where my agents gonna deal with that? Yeah. That sort of thing I know . Good point though by Dark and Stormy Nights on the Twitch chat Gonzo is a friend of the show. So he can call in at any point in time. He knows the number. six months seven Gonzo, seven seven nine, seven ninety three seven will whip you to the top of the line. Yeah, well jump every body else in life. We'll get you we'll even get you man demand demand. We'll even dust that off. We'll come up with ten rapid fire questions. What? We won't just ask my you want . That's the first one. All right, how many ears do you want? All right, all right . We'll work on that. What's your favorite TV show? But before he actually did answer those kinds of questions. He loved standby not always, though. He did answer Steb Me. Who was there times where he was like, I'll pass. What did you ask him? Who's the guy was steal a smoch? Oh, you wouldn't answer. He passed a smooth. Yeah, he didn't pass on that. But no, who is the guy we asked just like, what are you watching, right? Like pretty generally like Netflix? Anything hot on Netflix? Like what? Was that on Wenu? Oh, maybe it was. Might have been on Wednu. I just go to the top ten on Netflix and just whatever the people are Deacher Wise can't remember. Yeah, so what was it? Now Dijkwise had to do the poor hostage video because he agreed with what's his name Tavi calling out the fans . Right. It's off. Yeah, that wasn't great. Somebody else on the text line six one seven seven seven nine seven nine three seven guys guaranteed money and watch him turn less than average. Are you worried about that with him at all? No paying him and then you don't get the same thing out of him ? No, not at all. I think he's always been good. Are you concerned about any athletes with that? Oh yeah., okay Yeah. Oh yeah, you just put you put him in a separate category. Yeah, that can happen when you have like the , you know, a career year, like a career career year going into like the walk year or maybe even in baseball more so than in football. Like in football I look at depending on the position you're like there might just be a shelf life for the age. That's why a lot of running backs you're like , they might just kind of age out baseball it's you know how many ten plus year deals come back to bite the team at the end. Almost all of them. Football, you're talking about a lot of money, but you're only talking like four years for guy in his mid twenties. So no, not with Gonzales. I'm not worried about it. Kishaw Budi also spoke yesterday . We'll play something com abouting up AJ Brown in the rest of the receiver room that I think was pretty interesting from him. But I was a I was a little encouraged Keith. He was out there and he was actually , you know, among the top receivers when they first went out on the field. He wasn't down the depth chart . He wasn't behind Dobbs . He was out there playing over guys like that with AJ Brown and the first team offense and Drake May good, which goes back to what you were saying earlier in the week. Like why are you Kisha Booty afraid of some of the other names in the receiver room and going out and compete go out and compete. You might be the number two in this offense. Yeah, it didn't really make a lot of sense to me because he was having a good year and you're like, okay, first year where Drake May is like fully the starter and Carne brought up how even at the end of Drake May's rookie year he had gotten like a little bit of a rapport with Kisha Booty. It kind of carried over into this past season I don't know why you take a backseat to anybody other than AJ Brown. And even if you're Kishun Booty, you could think, all right, maybe AJ Brown slips and maybe I'm the guy like that's how you should be thinking that would be a little irrational, but you're right. You're a competitive you think that way, right? But you're like, all right, if you want to stop short there and everything live on the real world, fine, but like those other guys. Everything you heard about AJ's knees, maybe he's like, Jesus' knees are going to explode right next to me. I can't remember tapping them out . But realistically, he should come in and be like, I'll compete with Romeo Dobbs . Maybe I win, maybe I don't. And if not, I'm still ahead of everybody else, Mac Hollands, Kyle Williams, Efton Chisholm. And I'm sure this guy on my face, he should be ahead of all those guys on the depth chart. And obviously, Drink May is going to say publicly all the right things, but if you asked him like, hey, would you want to like get rid of Kisha Booty for a pick and like get rid of the headache or like keep him? Keep him Keisha Booty. You're not going to hear in this exchange but he was like, you know, I catch eighty percent of the balls throwing my way. He's like, I'm gonna make place if I'm invol ved. So you're just not open enough to get to target. Well, maybe not. Maybe not. And if he's further down the depth chart, he might not get a lot of looks, but to his point when you throw it to him, he's probably gonna catch it. But anyway, here was a brief exchange with Kisha Booty that I found interesting as your nah, it was just a personal decision. You know, at the end of the day, that was voluntary. I mean, it's mandatory. I'm here now, so I said how do you feel about planning on your existing It's something I gotta do.'s If what that I gotta do, I got to do it at the end of the day. I can't control it. Okay , if it's something I got to do, if I got to do it, I'll do it. I can't control it. So is his bigger issue that he wants an extension really bad right now or he just wants to be in a position to get a big payday 'cause like the second part makes more sense to me than like after last year, which was good, not great. Let's not make it more than it was. He's a five hundred yard receiver. That's what I'm saying, I wouldn't be like I need my money now. This isn't Gonzales. This isn't you're not going to do the same thing , please. Money for me. This doesn't work for Kisha Booty. No, like Christian Gonzalez one of the five best corners we're in the league. We're arguing of booty's one of the five best wideouts on the Patriots. So . Money, me . We can all say that. You hang up on them, but right you're like, all right, let's sit down, let's figure this out. Everybody else you're like, huh? You're like, No, you're gonna if anybody needs to play out their current contract, it would be this guy. And I'm on the side of players more than teams, but like, I don't know what he's arguing for. Well, they just handed a bunch of money to Romeo Dobbs who's done nothing here , but it's his time. Fine, but could he say every year he's had been better than Booty. Okay, but he say could he say give me a little pay bump this year I don't even need an extension, but could I get a little pay bump this year? You think that's out of bounds to ask for that? I mean, you can ask for whatever you want but you need to be prepared to be laughed at. But I would laugh at him. You're a six round pick who had five hundred yards receiving. I'd laugh at him for a long term extension right now. I'm not giving him a long term extension. If he wants another little guaranteed money to get his ass out on the field So. this okay, this is what a little paybump this year to get him on the field. I don't think that'd be the end of the world. Not like crazy. But this then turns into what could be like a house of cards. So if you're the Patriots, you can't give everybody big time extensions, right? And we talked about this with Gonzales, but that is a guy to make an exception for just like Drake made the following year . If you give Keisha and Booty extra money, now you open the door to literally every guy on the team being like, Booty's getting extra money I'll take extra money. So that's why I would just say no , we're going to do that to the to a handful of players that really deserve it. But this guy's good, but I'm not doing that. The press socks fans says he needs money for his fan dual accounts, maybe that's what you know he's over that. He doesn't do that anymore . He's come through the other side . He doesn't bet on the games. Six one, seven. He's not doing whatever you have to push parlays that he wore. That was the Twitch shed that say I just like No. That was your thing. I didn't say that. I was actually battling something pretty serious about you guys would make fun of it. Pointed that out. I want to make fun of me. Disgusting. I would say the highlight for me is Drake May in the first team offense , really the offense in general because Tommy DeVito also had a big day, but I had Drake May as twenty twenty of three in the Red Zone three touchdown passes . One was the AJ Brown a very impressive back shoulder throw where the quarterback Kendall Vildor was in good position, but AJ Brown is just that good , that big and if you're a Patriots fan, you have to be really encouraged by that that already they show the timing on those type of passes, which are probably going to be a stap le and it's going to make things a little bit easier in the red zone. Oh man , AJ Brown caught a touchdown over Kindle Vildor. Yay, smoke Vildor . That's why Tindle of Eldor of the Hill people . I'm excited about AJ Brown. Yeah , and I think he's going to be very good this year. Here's what I personally am not doing. Going nuts over a back shoulder touchdown catch over Kindle Vildor. Mosque Vildor like Gonzo. Yeah, if you were out there participating in eleven on eleven's, sure . I'd even say if you want to go Carlton Davis fine. That's a quite high end corner who's been in the league a long time. That get the juices going a little bit. Sure would. Honestly, Kindle Vildor. Yeah, but to be fair, when he had a catch on air the other day, I was like, Nay. Yeah, but that was just our first time seeing it. It was cool. It was still early on. This is very early in the Drake May AJ Brown. I start with throwing on nobody. Then you throw on Kindle Vildor. Here what I'm saying. The mom who loved Kindle so much. I think AJ Brown's going to be awesome this year. So do I what happened yesterday does nothing for me and is not proof one way or the other about what AJ Brown's going to be. I already thought he was going to be great . I didn't need to see a mosque some maybe on the roster corner , maybe not, but it was five foot eleven. If he dropped every pass through his way, would you have care? Yes no, I would care about that. Okay. Yeah, even if made a nice play, you're not you don't care about the nice play. Not on a practice squad or no , you never know. I just told you if it was on Gonzo or Colton Davis, I would give him credit for it. It wasn't right . I can almost guarantee he's not gonna catch a pass on Gonzo all camp. I don't think anyone's gonna catch a pass on Gonzo, all camp. Okay, guys, not gonna wear shoulder paths. Anyway, that was near Patriots GM Greg Buddard given his insight on Dragon. It was a good day for Drag Man. Yes. She also famously did not want AJ Brown. No. So if AJ Brown does well, you want other brandon Iuuk one Ayuk, yep, who is still posting videos about the niners . Patreon 's bullet on the kind of need like a mean Iuk, I mean would you team? No, I understand. Yeah. Would you watch a Brandon Iuuk documentary? I think I might. Oh yeah, the guy got paid how long is it? Then when they were thirty minutes thirty minutes Thank you. Billy Billy, we were just discussing this before the show. If it's an hour, I think about. But thirty minutes on that sure. Billy's Billy admits the fact that he'll watch ten episodes of King of Queens in a row but he won't watch a two hour movie. I'm with Billy on that though. No, I know but Leigh Remini that's Leia Remedy just throwing heat. Yeah . Is that no matter what season? Scientology era, Le Remann. I think I think her whole her whole run on King of Queens was in Scientology. She spoke out against the church broken out yet. No, no, no, she spoke out against the church. Yeah, in a few documentaries. That documentary I watched. You watched that? Well, one of 'em, yeah. I think she had a lot to say about 'em. She did. Going clear. Was that was called? Yeah, no, I think I watched that too. Yeah. Yeah, it was pretty good. Not a lot of talk about the scientologist anymore. That was like a hot button issue for a little while. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. Maybe that explains Ayuk. You think Brandon Nauk is a scientologist? I don't know if it would make a ton of sense. For people breaking into the scientology like headquarters in California a couple months ago. Where's Ycavich? Where's the lady, right? We don't know where the lady you scavenge is. I don't know . Not Trey Isaich. That's also not Bond i. That's also who I thought you were talking about. You don't know the story. The guy who's in charge of the church now isn't his wife missing been like and they're like, yeah, there's nothing to see here? I don't I think we've probably said too much about the church of scientology anyway. Let's move on. Target on us. Brandon 's really weird case because he wanted money, got his money, then quit. Yeah , correct him. But AJ Brown out there making plays, which I guess some are super excited about I'm not telling a bad thing. I just let's let's reference who it was against. It was the first team offense. Drake May and AJ Brown against some guy who' Im kind of hoping isn't on the team. Timefield were when they signed him back in March. I was like a main team though. I remember exactly where we were when they signed him when he day. It was no it was March Maddis. Thank you. Oh, March Baddis. We were remote. Yeah. We were on we were on the remote. Yeah. We had just talked with Maxine DuPree. It's a big day. How could you forget? We didn't forget, never forgot. Phone calls six one seven seven seven nine seven nine three seven Meanwhile, Keith, let's play another game of is it a compliment? Oh, I love this game. Okay . Romeo Dobbs. I'm sorry, Keisha Booty Rather was asked about the receivers that have been added this year. Romeo Dobbs and AJ Brown. He'll eventually get to AJ. Listen to the first portion of this. You tell me if this is a compliment about the new receivers in the room. Romeo Cool. You know, I've seen him play the slot a little bit. Outside a little bit, I watched A Packers Versus Bears Gamie Cool Receiver. And AJ I mean, I'll see what I say. No , I'll answer it for you right now. No, he's a cool receiver. He's cool. Is that a comb? No, that he looks like the Guardian Cat. Well, there's nothing cool about the Guardian Cat. Great point. Like well that should take that back. It's cool to protect your b rain. Yeah , but doesn't look cool. No, it looks real bad actually. It doesn't look great. It's a terrible look. But regardless, saying like, oh, he's cool. He's a cool receiver. Receiver '.s That that's not exactly a compliment. No, it's not. So I don't look I don't know if there's a rivalry going on there. There should be a little bit competition for Shane if there should be a rivalry but they should be competing for you to want change the word on that. That's fine and you know once the season starts if they're all on the same team everybody's going the same direction and blah blah blah at least in camp . I mean if you're going to have you know around the league you highlight like the quarterback battles but like this is a good this should be a battle for playing time a little bit I know. they And play a little bit different spots out there, but even still like he's cool. He's cool. He's cool guy. Now you can say cool guy. No cool receiver. Receiver. Now he's cool receiver. He's not though. He's got the great kazoo helmet. He's not cool. Give me more of that. AJ, I mean, y'all see what I see. All the fifty fifty balls is really one hundred zero with him big body receiver can win any matchup on the field. So got a love both of them. That is a compliment with Kendall Vildor for sure. It's one hundred to zero. Well, fifty there's no fifty fifty balls to one hundred to zero. Domante Parker. So eighty twenty . Devante Parker ruined that quote. I don't I don't know Parker did. But it was Kesha De Kishawdi overlap with him. I don't remember. Did he overlap with Devonte Parker . Maybe his rookie year. So yeah, maybe I forgot about Devante Parker. Park ruined that quote because that'd be that an awesome quote. fifty fifty balls are a hundred zero with that guy except Devante Parker basically said the same thing and ruined it. It was like with Bob Ryan, trash the Stacy K ing quote. Everybody says that. Like, Bob, the guy just passed away. Who had a , who died? I think Bob by was like and Parker were here at the same time. Oh, so they did overlap. So he heard that question , but no he's like, you see what I see. Like basically he doesn't want to go too overboard or he's like, yeah, the guy's insane. Yeah, the guy's really, really good. And I think he is. He didn't call him cool. I just would no he said, you see what I see , but Romeo is a cool receiver. By the way, I'm reading here from Mark Daniels. He said Kay Sean Booty practice a good amount on day one . The first time the Patriots played three wide Keith , AJ Brown , Pop Douglas , K Sean Booty, which would mean Romeo Dobbs further down the list. Hollands was there yesterday. How much was Hollands doing? I don't know because he wasn't there last week . So but Hollands was there. So I'll plead ignorance on that. How much does he do? They see was catching stuff from Devito. Okay , right. So Booty was out there playing with the ones playing May playing ahead of Romeo Dobbs. Should we read into that? Is that just hey, it's early. He's been in the offense. Dobbs hasn't. I think it's a little bit of the art. AJ Brown is such the obvious best player kind of like for lack of a better word, like alpha in the receiver room, so we're putting him out there. And then we might go with two guys that know what we're doing. And sort of we're going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now you did sign Romania Domson a big contract. So it's only a matter of time till he passes them on the death chart and to your point like Dobs should know what he's doing more than AJ Brown Dobbs has been here Brown just barely got here but he's like in a different he is he's in a different team but it can't just be about you're new in the offense because AJ Brown's even newer in the offense and he's out there. I think it's like a pecking order thing though. It's like it'd be real silly to not even have AJ Brown out there. It's like we'll kind of even more for this guy kind of thing like you're you're our guy. We got to get you up to speed. Also, any rep with AJ Brown should be with Drake May. It'd be wasted if it wasn't with Drake May. Whereas with maybe some of the other guys they're like as long as you're getting the offense and even if Devo's thrown to whatever like you'll catch up you get up to speed. But I also think it's a decent thing if you're Rebell or McDaniels or whoever put that all together being like our pop Douglas and Kishim Booty have been in the offense for the last few years or been on the team this offense. Obviously just for like the second year, but they're both coming off like decent enough seasons. Like let's give them the benefit of it. They're here. We'll line them up with Drake May and maybe tomorrow's different, maybe next week is different, whatever it is. Maybe training camp is different, but for right now, I think that's a good thing. Well, or could it be that they are just paid Dobbs? They need to figure out who the order is behind him. So they need Booty and Pop to have more run than him right now. Well, I don't know. I think it also could be sort of like, are this, not that they're like training the new receivers necessarily , but it's like these guys know what we're asking for. They've done it before. They've been in practice with us. They did a whole season with us. He was pretty adamant that I know the I know the different places to line up. He's like, I have lined up in different places. I'm not just an outside receiver. I have lined up different places. Now how accurate is that? I don't know . But he was pretty adamant to that. So he's like, no, I know the different spots in the offense. And in fact, going back to my time at LSU, it's the first time I've ever repeated the same offense. It's the same time I've ever had the same offense of coordin ator two years in a row . So yeah, I don't know what that was, but I think this is why it was smart for Booty not to just hold in. Christian 's a hold in. Kean Booty's like, well no this is mandatory. I'm here like there's not going on my contract I will in fact you know it would be cool to stay with the Patriots long term. I don't know how much he really means that but whatever and I also feel top of that going in and if you held in now Romeo Dobbs is taking those reps and now he's getting them with Drake May and now you're behind him on the debt chart day one mandatory mini camp. You're still heading the pecking order because you decided to go out there and compete. So if Christian Gonzalez showed up a week before the season starts, he's getting like the AJ Brown treatment. He's just plopped in as the number one guy and you von if you know the third or fourth corner is playing this game , you get passed over by the third or fourth corner and now you become like the fifth corner or whatever else it is. And so I think it's the same way here. And so for Booty to show up, great. Maybe he can hold off Dobbs as long as this goes maybe he doesn't. Like we'll see what happens. But if nothing happened on either side, meaning like they don't come up with a new deal for Gonzalez, my guess is he doesn't play. If they don't come up with a new deal or they don't come up with a trade for Kisha Booty and he's on the roster, he's going to place Yeah Yeah., I think I'm saying so there's a big difference there. I think that's fair . No little concerns about Romeo Dobbs Badard has chirped a little bit. Now again, what's his Accumen when it comes to receivers? I don't know. True, but he's chirped a little bit about he has itn't been impressed with Dobbs and now he's behind. Isn't he also the only one saying that? He was he was, but I'm just I'm just pointing out there is someone walking that Romeo Dobbs not worrying that impressive and he's behind not only Booty but also Pop Douglas yesterday when they first went three wides. Not yet not worried yet on that. Now this is something when you know when the Binnox roll out at the end of July and he's still only playing with DeVito then like, yeah, that's, that's certainly or Pop Douglas is getting more and more reps over him or yeah, that will be concerning. But like right now he's just kind of easing his way in and hopefully he'll be fine. I would say something to note. I wouldn't say concerned either but, something to pay attention to it's good for Booty that he's out front. I wouldn't say it's a great sign for Dobbs behind, but no reason to panic there. six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven and when I say behind, I mean behind others on the depth chart we'll get to your feedback here coming up. You're listening to Jones and Keeve on WEI This spring, how much if at all have you had a chance to kind of work with him a little bit? With Gabe? Yeah, not at all. We've talked and communicated and met him numerous times before the draft process, but the grass. Is that been frustrating for you that you don't? It hasn't. Not one that I've been excited to work with the players here and have learned that there's only so many things that you can control and excited about the development of the guys in that room, ones that have been here that are going into their second year or the ones that we drafted or the ones that we signed the post draft or the ones that we signed for the agency. How far behind will you be by this time? I don't you know, I mean, I don't know. You know what I mean? So I know that we were here for eight weeks and ten, eleven OTAs or whatever that is. I don't you know what I mean? I don't know. Can't say, won't say. I don't think that's fair to anybody. I was Rabble yesterday on Gabe Akis . Yeah, tricky, tricky one. And also when you read the edge rusher, yeah. Oh, you wouldn't guess. What does it look like when does it look like it would be pronounced? You're asking me , why don't you go first? No, I'm curious. Profamity. You saying Jackass is what you're saying? Yeah, something . I think that might be how Rabel feels about him. He might right now he's the only unsigned guy. And it's funny because he made a point before he was even asked specifically about him because I think I forget if the question was it was kind of vague. It wasn't about Gonzales or Budi yet, but I think that's clearly what they're like, hey attendance. Tell us about attendance. Yeah, it was like it was not a direct question at all. But it was tell us attendance and he's like, well, everybody under contracts here. Right. He already I think went in and we wondered like how was he going to respond to like Christian Gonzales Kishon Booty questions, which obviously eventually were asked to him , but I feel like the thing that was bothered him more was gay. So I agree . Accus. I agree . The way we ordered this first hour, Keith, I think we're hitting the top storylines from yesterday in order going into day two of mandatory mini camp. And I would prioritize them. Gonzalez , Booty, how did AJ Brown do on the field? Yeah , and then Accus. Like that's how I would prioritize him, but what's Rabble most concerned about after listening to him yesterday might be this situation Yeah because they feel like he thinks in all these things may play out and they all may be fine. They all may be ready for week one, but there's a lot of time between now and then I think he probably understands where like the business side of it is with Gonzalez and you're talking about a substantial amount of money and you're like, all right, that might not happen overnight. The Kishon Booty thing, he probably feels pretty good that he's already there and he's playing. So it's like, all right, we'll see where this goes. On the field, I think booty. Yeah, they probably do feel good because as you said earlier, Booty probably gave up some leverage yesterday. Yeah, but also was willing to go out there and compete. I bet if Rabel feels okay about that. Probably feels okay, right? And you know, before it's it's a much more of a pain in the ass the week before to ask questions about him not being there and pretending that it's okay, right? He's like, well it's not mandatory guys. It's like yeah, but eighty five of the ninety guys are here. This is a guy that's like competing for a job. Anyway , now you have this one where you're like it's a premium position meaning like a sp it's ot where they don't have obvious starters and this guy if he's there for everything and he's healthy could very well take over one of the spots. He might be a starter. He's a second round pick. Right. So it's Draymond Jones who they signed. You know, I imagine as a starter. I think day one he is
