That's s er v dot com slash tickets Hello everybody, it's me Roscoe and welcome to latest episode of the Kings of Anglia Tratner Girls Talk Podcast, our show covering all things Ipswich Town women. And uh well, WSL2 survival was complete for their right side. I'm joined by my right hand man, covering the track the girls in Tom Can . My friend, we're gonna discuss a lot of uh big news and some shock departures and we're going to review the season as a whole. Um, but how are you, my friend? Uh have you got the off-season blues already, or are you just still enjoying, of course, celebrating the town's men's promotion, but also the women's team also surviving in W SL two as well. Uh yeah, I'm very well. I've sort of calmed down a little bit from um everything that happened last weekend. Um I've had a lot of things to do in, you know in the job since then, which has sort of taken my focus away from football quite significantly. Um so I am very ready to talk about football again, um, because it has been some time, obviously with no game at the weekend for anyone. Um yeah, it's always nice to nice to actually discuss football. Um but it overall it's been a very good season for both men and women. So yeah, very much looking forward to it. How are you? Yeah, good mate. Um, yeah, I haven't got those offseason blues just yet. I think it was just a perfect time to just now relax. It was the first weekend without any football for Richard Town. Of course, you know, there's foot football still being played with playoffs and all that sort of stuff, but it's sort of nice to sit down, relax and sort of reflect on the season, which as you say was very good for both teams in the end for the track the girls, because there was a stage, I will admit, I thought, oh no, it wasn't gonna go well. But um thankfully Day of Wright, which we'll get on to shortly. Um of course now actually let's start with Day of Wright actually Tom because we haven't recorded a podcast since he was appointed permanently as Itch's town woman's manager. Uh good old Sturt Watson spoke to David when that news dropped for a pod special. So if you haven't listened to that yet, go and listen to that. Really good chat with David about him permanently becoming the manager. But some um he's done a very good job, hasn't he? Um since getting appointed in January. He was an interim manager, replacing, of course, long serving manager Joe Shear, which was very sad and disappointing to see Joe leave. But Dave's come in and um he's got results, he's kept the team up. Uh of course he was backed with um nine new signings in January and he's now been rewarded uh with the permanent uh role. Um your thoughts on that ? Yeah, I mean the job he's done is quite incredible actually. Um as you said, I was come December, I was they didn't look anywhere near the standard that they needed to be and I was thinking yeah it's gonna be a long old season sitting on four or five points um you know maybe picking up one win for the rest of the season actually um and I was fully expecting it to be a real struggle. Um and he came in and I think he was manager for eleven of the uh 22 games and he only lost three of them. Um and you know, a couple of them he you know, his side were the better side. Um Southampton comes to mind at Portman Road, you know, they were all over Southampton and um, you know, a final goal which was offside, um, was the reason they didn't they didn't win. Um he's the job he's done is uh obviously helped quite a bit with you know the signings that they made in January, but what he's done um has been has been incredible to finish nine points clear of of bottom place and actually closer to sort of playoff area. Um is yeah really really well done um to everybody um not least david Wright, who, you know, obviously was made permanent, which is not a surprise to anyone, really, after after the impact that he had. Yeah, definitely, of course, end of the season with three straight wins, um, one against Birmingham City, which uh of course went on to win the title um on goal difference. We'll just look at the table. Um Birmingham of course winning Chris Palace finished in second Cholton who were runaway leaders for a period they finished third in the end, so they got to play in the playoffs. Uh or is that really been played? I haven't done my research enough there. Um still got to play. Still got good. Thanks, Tom. He's up, he's up to date with that sort of stuff. I've got other things that uh just play over my world. Um, and he's been, you know, you've been covering the buddy politics this week. So uh that's been that's been interesting, I'm sure. Um as my doorbell rings, but thankfully my other half is in, so she can answer that door. Um but anyway, yes, town of course, ending the season very strongly, Tom. Um but we're gonna sort of part that for a moment. We are gonna review the season as a whole, but there's some big news that has come out, the Retanglists, uh, which came out actually earlier than I thought it was going to. Normally they sort of let the the season sort of uh sizzle a little bit, let that just sort of calm down and they leave it a few weeks, but they must have had the end of season dinner, had the conversations, and then announced the the r retain list . And there's some shock departures. One of them is Natasha Thomas, Tom, the legendary striker. I've been at the club for more than a decade. Is leaving the club. Which, you know, she's a record top goalscorer, all time appearance maker. Um when you think of Itch Town Women, first name you think about is Natasha Thomas. Um just your reaction first of all when you saw that news. Yeah, um shocked. Just 'cause as you said, you know, she is Miss Ipswich Town. Um she has been at the club for you know, she's part of the furniture at Playford Road and at Portman Road. She's been around forever. She does so much with the club off the pitch as well, with the foundation and doing town TV and things like that on a um on a men's match day. Um is a shock, you know, you've just been there for so long that you just you expect her to just stay there until she decides to call it quits on on her playing career. But um Yeah, maybe she thought it now was the time to leave and you know her legacy that she'll leave behind. Um as I think you said in the piece that you wrote about you know her career at Ipswich, I don't think it will ever be topped. You know, it's it's incredible to make or is it two hundred and sixty appearances in you know, even in men's football, that's an impressive, you know, thing for a one club, but for a women's football where you play at most twenty five games a season, um, you know, it's it's incredible um to have played that many games and 1 75 goals in that time. Uh I know it was maybe at the lower levels and IPs which had a lot of money pumped into them more recently, but um that's still an incredible tally um to be able to hit, and she's obviously been through it all going up from fourth tier, third tier, um, played in the second tier, scored the first goal at Portman Road for the met uh for the ladies, um in the league. She, you know, scored a number of vital goals this season, you know, Portsmouth leveling that at home, um , which was really important to go on to win that g ame. Yeah, I think what she's done and going on to be the first international um appearance maker for Ipsichtown women as well, having her name put on the on the board at Portman Ro ad with all the other legends that have played at Ipswich and all the other international appearance makers. You know, she added her name to the list and yeah, it's it's incredible what she's done at the club and the legacy that she'll leave behind. You know, not only that, but she has inspired so many women as well to to play football. Um, you know, so many players will have looked up to her and gone, Well, she's you know, she's done this, she's done that at you know, a top club. Um, I can do the same. So yeah, she it's a sad, sad thing that she's going. Obviously, I didn't watch her as much as you did. You've been with the club a lot longer than I have. And um but watching her these past three years, she's you know always up for an interview after games, um, always speaks really well as well. You know , very smart, smart wise with with football and um knows what she's talking about. So yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be weird not writing Natasha Thomas scores um for for Ipswich Town next season. Yeah, definitely. And of course the the the phrase or the the you know legend gets thrown about a lot these days in football in in just in life in general, but she is and it's just town women's legend. So um gonna be missed. Um but I'm looking forward to her next chapter. Um there's obviously a lot of content online that we've we've put together um on her career as a whole, but um yeah legacy that she's um left is is huge and um yeah one of the first sort of trailblazers in the women's team um who you know yeah on and off the pitch some great stuff you know trustee for the foundation um and yeah, thank you very much, Tash. That's I think that's what we've got to say. Just thank you for stuff she's done. And yeah, those goals. I've seen her score so many goals, you know. Yeah, starting in the fourth tier, but she's sort of proven that she can play in the second tier and just an athlete as well, a massive athl ete. Um who yeah is gonna just be a great asset to any club she signs for next. So um yes, all the best Tash. And uh yeah, some shocking news. I'm sure there's some sad fans out there, a lot of um try to g firlans who are really sad to see her leave 'cause I'm sure there's so many people who got, you know, Thomas Seven on the back of their shirt and now got to find a new favourite player in this squad, which there are still some, you know, Gregor players and there'll be I'm sure new new players in the sum mer. Um, but yeah, Tash, uh Tom, sorry, I'll just call you Tash. Um, Tom, um, very different looking. Uh if if you were Tash. Um, but yeah, Tom, that is one of the big de partures out of the retained list, but let's go through the retain list as a whole. Um next two I want to sort of focus on are two players who have been part of this journey from the fourth tier as well, who have played over a hundred games from the football club and that is Summer Hughes and Kyra Robertson, um, who, yeah, you know, came through the academy, you know, very key players and Josh inside that won sort of promotions, you know, in recent years uh played key roles of course in the third tier promotion um last season um and yeah uh unfortunately for say koira she's had sort of injury setbacks but um you know she's a really good player and some of you as I said I've sort of seen her journey from academy in Cairo as well to be fair, seen their journey through the academies and then become regulars and as I say, play a hundred games for the football club, which is incredible. Um but probably maybe the right time maybe for them, Tom. They you know they weren't playing that much this season at the end of the season of course Cora's been injured, so not uh Falk's not been playing, but sort of summer as well, not been a regular. Um they probably now need sort of fresh, you know place to go now to get their kick start their football again but um two players that are sort of left the legacy as well yeah yeah two players that have played a huge part in um it such as rise to to the second tier and even in the second tier, you know, when both of them did play, um, you know, they didn't they didn't look out of place um for the most part and you know did what they needed to but as you say, it was Kyra was unlucky with you know an injury that that put her out for pretty much from um I think it was around December, January time onwards. Um and you know, you have players coming in that that took that centre mid spot. Beth and Rowe has, you know, has been so good this season um at left back that you know it was tough for summer hughes to to get into the team. I think she played a few games when there was an injury crisis in in that central midfield position and Beth and Roa to move into that. But um and she did all right, you know, when she played there, she, you know, runs up and down the wings a lot, which is great to see very Leaf Davis-esque . Um but yeah as you say it's probably the right time for for them to move on because I think next season it will be it'll be tougher for them to to get games because they'll want to be you know, signing more players and um you know, signing players that have played at WSL level, um and WSL two level and are experienced in that to you know, even challenge Beth and Rowe at you know at left back and um whoever the centre mids might be Colette Kavanaugh and um Kit Graham will come on to in a minute if she stays, you know, things like that. So right time for them to move on, but the impact that they've had to to help get the team promoted to the second tier for the first time to WSL two. Um and the part that they played last season, the part that they've played since breaking through uh the Academy, someone that, you know, two people that Joe Sheehan, you know, obviously did really well with bringing up and um giving them s chances in the first team and, you know, how much they've grown. Yeah, they've they've been brilliant. And to make 100 appearances is you know still nothing to be sniffed at. It's still a fantastic achievement and um something that they'll both they'll both you know take with them. Um and you know, that experience now that they've got of playing at WSL two level um will serve them I'm sure really well uh wherever they they end up next. Yeah, definitely. You know, they're obviously grown as people as well, just like Tash, you know, they've sort of grown um from you know sort of amateur football in a way, you know, like Tash officer came in, you know, when they were still training, you know, a few days a week and they still had jobs on the side, and you know, now they're professional players. Um but yeah all the best to to summer and chaira as well. Um and yeah be interesting to see where that ends up. Um there there's sort of like predictions early on where I'm like I think they could go to a certain club, but uh we won't get into that just yet. We'll find out uh where they end up. I'm sure there's um gonna be all eyes on you know where the release players see where they end up. Um I've got a bit of an ex-blue sort of thing I do with the men's team. I'm now doing that for the women's team as well now like seeing where they end up and stuff. So um we shall see. Uh next player I think we should focus on Tom is uh Rihanna Dean who um joined a club this summer of course or last summer and she was a joint top goal scorer. So Pesco with five goals. Just one season for her at town. Yeah, I think she she probably knew it's been a bit of a frustrating season for her as well, but still got some goals, some key goals as well. But yeah, just one season for Rihanna Dean. Yeah, and played her part in helping to keep Ipswich up. You know, frustrating first half of the season, I'm sure, for her. But you know, she she played a bigger part in the seconds half of the season. Obviously, I think with Princess uh Adamalouyi coming in, she saw less game time um, but was still you know v,ital when she came on and um, you know, or started ahead of her and, you know, was was taken off in the second half. She still played her part really well. And as you say, you know, scoring five goals did help out town an awful lot to to helping secure safety. Um I think she arrived with you know a lot of uh expectation, obviously having played at Southampton for a little while and scoring a number of goals for them. Um obviously joined the club. It may not have gone how she'd have wanted it to. I'm sure she'd have probably wanted more than five goals um throughout the season. But yeah, still contributed a a lot lot to to the year um and I'm sure she'll yeah find another W SL2 side. She's you know she's far too good for to go down a level so um I'm sure she'll land on her feet at another club and we'll probably see her come up against Ipswich next season. Yes, just hopefully doesn't score because um we don't want that ex players come back and scoring against us, um especially if for if it's a rival or somewhat. Now we've got a few other players. I'm just gonna name them, Tom, and then we'll just sort of briefly talk about them. No offense to them, but we're you know we don't we'll be here all day if we spoke about every single player. But the other players, of course is, Sophie Boygen, uh, Ruby Doe, Charlotte Fleming, Shauna Gyatt, Ruby Seebe, and Nina Miyalo. Um Sophie Boygen, unfortunately, had injuries, didn't she? She signed from hashtag in the summer, but I unfortunately never watched her play, which um so can't really say much to that, but sadly had a lot of injuries. Hopefully she can bounce back and you know find a club and play regularly. Ruby Doe of course, Tom, in a third spell at the club. Um, once again, she's had injuries as well. Um, I was really, really you know, excited when she signed Permanent. I thought, here we go, had her on loan, she's been sort of keying those loan spells. But unfortunately, her first spell has been been out you know out inju red. Um Charlotte Fleming, I think focus on her a little bit here actually because um she's been at the club for two years and she you know at one stage was captain the club, you know, where Boz was injured. Um then unfortunately got an ACL injury, which just came out at such a horrible time. That's her second ACL injury in her career as well. And I thought she was like mustard in the tier three. I thought she was fantastic and um got that injury. Um, of course, she came back this year, and I thought she played well when she came in. Um but that ECL injury Tom, you know, is obviously in Morgan's football, it's so, you know, happens all the time unfortunately. But um yeah, player that you know is is quality um and uh had left a mark. Yeah definitely um as you say she was uh instrumental last year uh particularly the first half of the season before she got her injury and she captained the side at Carro Road from what I remember when Ipswich beat um that lot up the road 4-0 . She was captain there and played played her part really well. She was as, you say, mustered um in central midfield. And then she got injured and you know it was a ACL's horrible for anyone, um, the men or women. Um and it takes a long time to long time to come back from. Look at Kit Graham. She had one at Tottenham. Uh I think she had two . And you know, took her a long time and you know, came to us, and thankfully she's she did a she did really well on loan here. Um and maybe that's what Charlotte Fleming needs is just regular game time at a club where, you know, she can um work up that fitness again and maybe it be a little bit less uh challenging, less demanding um than WSL two level, maybe a you know, third tier level, go to a club which are hoping to get promoted like she did with Ipswich and um you know make her mark again and you know stay injury free and I'm sure she'll be instrumental with whichever club she goes to because she is a really good midfielder. Um same with Ruby Doe actually. I thought she was really good when she came to us and played, you know, really regularly as a what sixteen, seventeen, eighteen year old um in the third tier and unfortunately got an injury this year. I think you know, it would be good for her to go down to the third tier again, get playing again and help another team get promoted 'cause those two are, you know, they're really good midfielders, um and they've just been hampered with with injuries unfortunately. Yeah, very much so, unfortunately. And um yeah, Sean Guy is another player on this list. Um, two seasons at the club. Uh spent the second half of this campaign at Sheffield United, uh quarter league rival, uh, but played a really key role in our promotion last year. Um and a really good player actually. I think she she probably will sign for another WSL two club. I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up somewhere. Maybe in Sheffield United they may look to sign up permanently potentially. So wish her all the best. Uh Ruby CB um leaves after a year, another player that was part of the the team that got promoted. Um didn't really get looking too much this year in WSL two, but uh you know, still a young player that I'm sure we'll we'll find a club. And uh Nina Miyalo, the young goalkeeper who's been out on loan the last few seasons, uh IFC Sudbury and real Bedford um in the tier three this season. Um and as you mentioned, Tom, Tash is on the board, the Internationals at Portland Road, but Nina Majalo is also for the Philippines, of course. So she's always gonna have uh mark at Issues Town because she's on that board. But um yeah, another another player that yeah, she's a young goalkeeper and it's so hard. It's such a hard position, isn't it? Um I think she'll find a club somewhere. Um 'cause yeah, she's an international footballer at the end of the day. I know it's for the Philippines, but it's still an international footballer. She never really got an opportunity in town because there's other goalkeepers in front of her, but um yeah, that's still like an honour to have, you know, to be on international honours board. Yeah, definitely. And I know that she's had a pretty good season with real Bedford. Um so you know, potentially she could just sign there permanently. Um any club that's looking for a you know a goalkeeper that's international experience and you know has played with well, played with players that are now WSL two level and um, you know, w work dunda under Joe Shee and I'm sure that a lot of women's football um lower down in the pyramid, particularly in this region, will know of you know what he has done for young players and um how well he's nurtured them. So, you know, any any club that needs a a first choice goalkeeper will look at her and go, Yeah, we can um we can bring her on board and she'll land on her feet. Same with Ruby Seebe, obviously a very young player, so I'm sure she'll she'll go to a club and and have a an impact. And yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if if Shauna um does go to Sheffield United or something 'cause I know that she did play a a big part in in helping them the second half of the season. Definitely and uh we'll we'll keep an eye on where they go next. Um of course we'll update you all on this podcast and I'm sure we'll do online stories as well. So um we shall see. Um so those are the release players all the best to them. Uh thank you to their contributions at the football club of course. Um very sad one in Tash Thomas for all of them as well. Um sad to see him go, but um all the best for the future. Um Tom, lone players also leaving the club. Um they've all sort of made an impact, haven't they? You know, they're all lone players in January that Darry Wright brought in. Ava Barker from Birmingham City, Kit Graham from Spurs, Nellie Las from Leicester City, uh Malika Mina from Bristol City, and Kenzie Weir for Everton. And uh Kenzie Weir, she she became like a goal scoring, you know, center up, weren't she? And uh yeah, they all made an impact, my friend. Um could we see them maybe back? Like Kit Graham, I think, has got an option to buy in his deal. So in his no her deal, sorry, I'm still got the men's football podcast brain sometimes. But um yeah, uh Kit Graham, I think anyone would love her to see her back because she's been fantastic. She's a she's a class player anyway. We knew that from her experience, but she's one I'm thinking she'll probably be back. The rest, you never know. Hey Barker, Baker, sorry. Um I'm thinking Maisie Barker. Maisie go away. Um but yeah that they as I said they all made a an impact, didn't they? And um yeah, wouldn't be surprised if the club go maybe bring 'em back 'cause they're parent clubs and they go, Oh, they made an impact for you, maybe you know, long term could work out. Yeah, they uh they all played a part, Ava, as you say, um, joined from Bristol City on loan. They've now been promoted, so her chance of playing for for them is probably less um in the top tier. So, you know, it wouldn't surprise me if she did go back out on loan somewhere and she was, you know, a regular on that um left hand side. Uh her and Lucy Ashworth Clifford sort of uh chopping and changing which one started, which one came off the bench. So both really good options to have at left wing. So it wouldn't surprise me if um, you know, if if they were like, yeah, do you wanna do you wanna come back for another season? You helped us out a lot at the end of last season. Same with Kenzie Weir, to be fair. It wouldn't, you know, wouldn't surprise me if they wanted her back, whether she'd come back, because she's obviously proven that she can, you know, she's a good defender. Um scores scores a lot from from uh set pieces which is always handy for a you know a a cent a half um whether she'd you know come back to Ipswich or or set her sights at you know a lower lower WSL side or you know a WSL two side chart and maybe if they don't get promoted, um someone like that and you know someone chasing promotion we'll see, but they've all played a part. Uh Mina has you know did really well when she came in um in centre mid and Nelly Bass when she when she started a right back did um did really well as well. It was obviously difficult for her because she came you know into a position where the captain um obviously has that has that role um but when she did play she did really well and you know for a young player um I think she came on in some of the some of the toughest games that Ipswich had in the running and you know did really well against uh her attackers. So yeah, um they've all made an impact and you know it won't surprise me if one or two of them, especially Kit Graham I can fully see her coming back. Um, but maybe if one or two others um come back on loan again, it wouldn't surprise me. And yeah, we'll find out, of course, if they're um out of contract or not. I don't know. We haven't got that information to our to hand right now, but there could be a few of them that may be our contract. Um, but I think because they're young players, I'm sure they're still very much contracted for a while at those clubs. But we we'll find out um when we when we know. Um, but yeah, uh there is contract talk still ongoing, Tom, with some players. There's four players in total. The headlines are of course Megan Waring and the captain, Miriam Boswell, also youngsters, um, or goalkeeper Laura Hartley and youngster K atie J. Bonwick. Um, but yeah, Tom, I think they're you know they're probably just still discussing terms and stuff like that. Uh Boz, of course, is the big one because she's the captain. Um maybe she wants to know what her role is going to be going forwards. Um I'd be surprised if she did go, but if you know the offer doesn't really suit her, then she may look and go somewhere else. Uh Megan Waring, of course, has been playing a lot this season as well, sort of regular. So yeah, just your your thoughts on those sort of contracts ongoing for those four players. Yeah, um yeah Boz and Megan Waring sort of make a an awful lot of sense there especially Megan Waring, she's very young still and um has played quite a lot this season so already has that double two experience and you know wouldn't surprise me if pretty soon she's knocking on the door of the Scotland uh first team. So she's definitely one that I think they'd want to want to keep. Um, even if it is just to you you know know, protect her and boost her her asset at the club and um things like that. Maria Boswell is obviously the captain, so doesn't surprise me either. I've I'd be surprised if none of them um don't sign up to the new contract. Um they'll all know what's in it. Laura Hartley's obviously been the backup for a few years now and obviously with the Natalia Negri and Lysian Prue, I think is how you pronounce her name. Um, you know, she's like less likely to see you know game time, so she's maybe one that may think I'm you know, I'm gonna go somewhere else just so that I can, even if I'm not a starter , I can still be on the bench and, you know, have that chance to step in. But Casey J, yeah, she'll join up, I'm sure, because you know, she's still young and has looked really good whenever she's played. She'll probably go out on loan again next season to you know boost that first team experience, but you know, one that that they probably plan for the future. Um so yeah, I'm I'm fully expecting at least three of them to join up, but if not then yeah, all four of them . Yeah, we shall wait and see. But um then there's the whole players who have on under contract of course. Uh Princess, she's still on loan, of course. She signed from Gotham, was it Gotham F C? Um she's here until December, so that was a whole year loan. Um so she'll be here for the the first half of next season and you'll see what what the future holds if she has an unbelievable start of the season, then maybe a permanent deal could be on the cards. But um the other players of course on the contract is uh Lucy Ashworth, Cliffords, uh Clett Cavanaugh, Jenna Deere, Liam Mitchell, uh Natello Natri as you mentioned, Grace Neville, Lucio Bryan, Paige Peak, so Peskett, uh Lysanne Proulak, I don't know. Whatever you said, Tom, that sounded better than what I've just said, the other goalkeeper, and Beth in Row, of course. Um so yeah, I need to find a nickname for the other goalkeeper. Um unfortunately I haven't seen a play yet. Um but uh that is all the players on the contract. Um how many sap players there? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen players there, Tom. Um and then four who are in talks. So overall at the moment it's potentially seventeen. Um so you're expecting a busy summer ahead. Do you think they Derrick will be I'm sure he'll be backed by you know town to bring in more players. I think maybe maybe a few more experienced players would be key, I think, for us to push on because yeah, we stayed up. You know, we don't want to have another season where we're like, oh no, we're looking over our shoulder, I'm sure they really want to push on this team . Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they'll make a you know a fair amount of signings. Sean Burt obviously you know knows what he's doing, um signed nine players in January because he saw that they needed help and um you know he got that help and I'm sure we'll do the same again. They won't want to have a repeat of what happened this season. Um particularly the first half of uh of this season they'll want to push on and be more like a Nottingham Forest and start the season strong be around fifth, sixth, um for the majority of it. So they'll want to push on, they'll go out and I'd imagine they'll sign a few more um experienced players, probably out of contract WSL players, wouldn't surprise me. Uh London based probably um and again it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of those, you know, in contract players weren't here at the start of the next season. You know, Grace Neville's had a tough time of getting into the team since the turn of the year, um, especially with Maria Boswell ahead of her, and then Nellie Lass coming in on loan. Nellie Las was favoured um as the backup to to Grace Neville. Um, so you know she could potentially be one on her way out. I know that Jenna Deere's recently suffered quite a big um injury which has put her out of the last um couple of months. So um she might, you know, go out on loan or or drip leave, you know, permanently. So we'll have to see, but I'm in no doubt that they'll make an awful lot of sign-ins to to get this team um to bolster this team even further. Um as I mentioned, they might well look at those lone some of those lone players and say, do you want to come back again and add to add to the young exciting talent um some experienced heads as well . Yes. Well uh we shall see. I'm sure it's going to be an exciting summer ahead um with new players coming in players departing and all that sort of stuff um so there we go tom um we are going to do a massive sort of season review pod at some stage looking back at our predictions which I can imagine weren't very good. Although we may have got a few spot on. But I want to quickly mention um the reward uh awards that were given out uh at the season end of season dinner uh both the men and the women's team of course uh representing at Milton's at Kesgreen Cosgrave. Um the women's uh awards were Plow of the Year, so Peskit, which is no surprise that she's won that. She also won the women's players, uh, Plough of the Year, which of course is voted by her teammates. Uh she won that goal of the season, Maria Boswell Strike against Sheffield United, which unfortunately I didn't see that. I've seen it of course back, but um you were there Tom in in person. Um the men's team were playing Chilton at the time. So I was obviously in in London at the Valley watching that game. And uh Beth and Roe, of course, won the Philip Hope Cobold Award, uh, which is for her work and the community and everything like that, which she's been very key. And to be fair, all the players are really big into that as well. They're you know so many players sort of visiting different you know community events, which has been fantastic. Um but yeah, Tom, we'll do a full review show, but um I just want to get your snaps or reflections on this season because yeah, town at the end of the day are gonna be playing WSL two football once again. Um a very good end of the season, three wins in a row, and I still can't get over that win against Birmingham. What a result that was against the the champions in the end, Birmingham City. At their place at St. Andrews as well, away from home. A big win. Um and yeah, wasn't it like three goals in a space of like seventeen minutes or something? I remember watching it sort of from afar and going, What is going on? Um and that was like the moment where like, yeah, this team is staying up and yeah, they've been fantastic to end the season. And yeah, in a way, uh as a whole, it's been a very successful first season in DSL2 for the Tritagirs. Yeah, very successful. Um to finish nine points clear of relegation when you know November time they were four, five points um clear at the bottom. Um is incredible the turnaround that's been that's been made and you know they picked up some really important wins against teams around them Durham um Sheffield United Portsmouth all really good wins and then also challenged the teams at the top um they didn't lose to Charlton at all. Obviously they beat Birmingham 3-0, which was incredible. Literally job done in 15 minutes, and then it was just defend, defend, defend. Um and they did that really well. They beat Southampton or you know, not Southampton, Sunderland, an experienced um WSL two side, pushed Newcastle um away from home as well. But you know, they they really found their feet in the second half of the season and looked every bit the part of you know WSL2 side uh you know a strong WSL two side as well and hopefully um from what they've done this season they can kick on and um they know that they'll be playing that same level again next season. They know a little bit of what to expect now. It won't be quite as much of a shock to them when um you know like it was against Southampton first game of the season um when ever ything just looked like it was you know everything looked going against Ipswich. Um they'll be more prepped for it and there won't be the the underdogs this um upcoming season either, you know, those teams coming up that you know Burnley I saw have been promoted um to the WSL two for the first time so they'll be looking to do what Ipswich have done um this season and you know they're they'll be um hopefully fighting more towards the top end of the table, um, rather than towards the bottom of the end of the table like they have done this season. But all in all a really, really successful first year um at you And have a long trip then for the girls. Burnley. They've got to go to like yeah, places and necastle. Add uh Burnley to the list, uh, which is not ideal and who's um just double checking the table who's coming down from the w sl um well it's either going to be leicester or charlester it'll be one of those two teams yeah, so we'll shall see 'cause yeah, Leicester of course have had a really tough season in WSL as a whole. Um but yeah, it's gonna be exciting. Um I wanna say that you know, the team have proved me wrong because um I will admit in December I thought they were doomed. Um and I think many people would say the same. Um I think there's some people, you know, they they're passionate. Of course, I still wanted them to hopefully stay up, but there was a moment where I was like, oh, this just gonna be too much. Um but they've done so well um so just want to say well done to everyone involved you know really well done uh congratulations and yeah gonna be great to see WSL2 football once again for the track the girls Tom. Um but as I say we're going to record a another podcast to reflect on the season as a whole, look back at our predictions and um we may have a special guest potentially for that as well. I'm just going to be speaking with somebody to get him on and uh sort of reflect on the season as a whole as well. And um yeah, hope you've enjoyed the latest track to girls talk podcast. Tom, any other business as we wrap up um another show uh no i don't think so um as echo your thoughts well done to to everyone involved um ipsich town um in the last season, both men and women. Um everything has gone gone the way that I think everyone had hoped for um when it was August, September time. So yeah, well done to everyone and um now just couple of months of doing nothing . Yeah, although there there's, you know, gonna be a lot of um offshore news and stuff like that that will get chucked out. So I will keep you up to date, of course, on our websites um and we'll bring you uh podcast when we can. Um as I said we'll try to bring you one maybe this month later this month we'll bring you um our season sort of recap and um looking back at our predictions which yeah I think we've already had a little guess at some of the ones we got completely wrong, but we both did predict Tom that they were going to stay up in a WSL2. So we got that one right. Um maybe not position wise, but um we will look back at that and um look forward to recording that but um thank you everybody for listening uh thanks everyone for sort of reading and watching our content throughout this season it's been another great season covering the track the girls and uh we'll hope we're gonna do that all over again next year in the WSL2 once again. Um but Tom, thank you very much for joining me. Thanks everyone for listening and watching and we'll see you next time. Bye for now
