Cleveland Guardians, Chicago White Sox SPAR in Rain Delay CHAOS, Split to Heat Up Division RivalryJul 6, 2026 — starts at 0:00

The guuardiian split their four game series with the Chicago White sox Both teams walked away dealing with adversity different and that's gonna matter when it comes to this season long AL Central race You are Lcked O Guardians, Y daily podcast on the Cleveland Guardians, partart of the Lcked on Podcast Network, your team every day Every time the Gardians start to build a little momentum and you get excited, you start to go Back down the the loop of the roller coaster, it seems with this team right now and to walk off wins in a row and then end up, you know, splitting the rest of the weekend. So it was half good, half bad but there were some interesting things that happened this weekend that we can takeake away from here on Lcked on Guardians. They only Dailyleaning Guardians podcs. Goververs your team. Every day from the majors to mininers to draft And everything in between, we'll probably focus on the majors and the draft today. We'll dig into the minors more Later this week, todayay we're going to focus on college hitters the draft later in the show So about the Guardian' Three All stars, which is most impressive And we're going to talk about how disastrous this u sees this gate this weekend series was for multiple reasons on today's show. Lets you know today's episodees aboutght the I fand. the biggest state in the world of socer is here. So let there be goals? visit fandal. com to get started now. That is Jeff Ellis, the host of Blackon Guardians for eight years. I'm Justin Lana ve been here alongside Jeff for the last four and we've both been govering this teeam for nineteen years when it comes to draft and The miners. Um, I I wanted to come out here and get all hot ty and come away with a very declared a statement that Anthony K of the White Sox proved that the The white socks are mentally tough. They're not tough enough to handle adversity and that the AL Central still runs through Cleveland. And I suppose you could still say that because They have w of the last two years. So I guess like you still have to say they're the defending champions so they're not Um after the way, the white socks bounce back so I've had to cool off that statement, but I thought it was interesting that Anthony Kay, you know, was making excuses that Oh and not even good excuses at that because he didn't know how the rules worked that Yeah there was some weird stuff with the pulling pulling the tarp when they did. U didnid't understand that the team has no control or is not supposed to have any control when it comes to calling for mid game rein delays. They only have control whether or not the game starts And even then there's a lot of Major league baseball getting involved, which we'll get into about Sunday fiasco. U Yeah, Anthony Kay's response to that, I was like, okay, and Will Vedable kind of backed him And I was like, okay, the Guardans don' to worry about the white sox because they are Not mentally tough and they are making excuses. and they showed they can't handle adversity, But they bounced back the last two days. So think we have to at least I have to back off that a little bit. Yeah, it was a weird thing. and it didn't help that there was a poorly written article by Chicago by White So Speet repeporter where, you know, like and it may not even be his fault sometimes you know, you don't often write your own headlines with the way it was phrased for those who missed out on all of it was like It made it sound like at first that there was complaining because of how the, you know, the Cleveland had shenanigans and you know, they had that rain delay and they could have kept playing through it or what, you know, what And as you pointed out, like it's the umpires do. Kate didn't understand the rules The article was It was not easy to read. And then, you know, the other part I will say sometimes with these articles is I was trying to read it on my phone with a gazillion and a half ads in between like every third written sentence because of the website. So all of it was poorly integrated. I don't wan to necessarily bury the writer, I don't wanna bury the athlete, but it all came out to be a really nonsensical situation Bottom line, Cleveland doesn't control that situation. They want they controlled what they could and they ended up winning that game U, you know, it was a great performance And then they came out on you know, the fourth and laid an egg and they battled and they Honestly, it's like you and I were talking. It's like in the eighth inning if Bana just doesn't swing at ball four That was Sunday, not Saturday. Sunday. Yeahah. but I was saying, you know, the july fourth game, you just pitch it because it was so terrible offensively you were never really in it to an aggree It's like they really had a chance. They kept battling back. They had big, you know, they get down the loter homers. they get down Arius homers. likeike they there was some nice battle It was Overall an ugly game. I mean, the bullpen outside of a of Holderman did its job and they needed everyone in that pen outside of Festa But yeah, it was you know If you had told me they split the series at the start, I would have been happy. so I'm also not going to sit here and get upset about how it it unfolded. But you know, Cleveland right now is is still down to guys. The lotter of still is not one hundred percent. though we had, you know, a big hit today But yeah, they're in that situation. I think we also saw over the course of this weekend why it is that No Miguel Vargas, even if Jose hadn't gotten hurt was going to be the starter at third base in the All Star game. likeike it's a tough team. you know, it's a they Sean Burke is their arguably their number two pitcher this year and he was dynamite and you know, hopefully once Cleveland can get their guys back in and integrated, it'll give them a better chance in some of these matchups, but I'll take two for two. from a tough young Zx team Yeah, I will too. I think I just think it's disappointing in the fact that you had bull pen on the ropes likeike they had to go into their bull pen on Friday early Did a great job. I'm sorry, Thursday did a great job on Thursday of getting to Davis Martin early. We talked about that. So their bullpen was already pretty overworked at that point And then Friday, you know, you did have the rain delay, which did happen and whether or not Infony K understands the rules of that. Um, is a different story But that again, the tarp was going to be pulled after the Vargus at Bat whether he hit a home run or he struck out. The ground crew was there just waiting at that point and the Empire would have given him The signal I, you know, Saturday, like I said, Saturday Parker Messic didn't have his best stuff. No, but he battled for five innings in one run. And then Sunday was just you don't talk about shenanigans. I think that was shenaniganss. I don't have any backing on this, but like There was this weird thing onn Sunday where it was the somethinghing be about on the on the weekend, like july fourth weekend or whatever. it was some kind of big peacock promotion. all the games were on peacock on Sunday and had some sort of fourth of July promotion So I'm like that's why they push so hard. I feel like to play this game on Sunday when I mean, it ended up being not that long of a They got it in ended up being an hour hour delay, but that warning track was was in terrible shape. I think the real issue is and, you know, it's hard to know who's calling the shots because technically the home team is supposed to have more control pre game over when the game starts. and then once the game starts The Empiireres have full control over if the game gets played or how that all goes there and contact MLB and You know, they they tried the two hundred thirty start time And then they came out at two hundred thirty, Tander Bbbey was warmed up, ready to go for two hundred thirty and then they and they came out with Open and The warning track was was still a moe Um So they still couldn't play that. So then you had to sit for an hour And, you know I was sitting there saying that Anthony K, like I don't make excuses for the fact their Boltun blew the game On Friday can't make excuses for the Guardians because the White Sox had to deal with the same thing. although their pitcher had didn't have to worry about warming up as much because they were going with an opener and then U know we're pitching the bottom of thenings. they didn't to worry about that as much It it's I will say it's not a good situation to have anybody warm up and then sit for an hour and then come back and pitch. and then have it warm up again. That's not an ideal situation for anybody Um, you know, I I am willing a bit to chalk up Sunday to that But then again, you don't want to make too many excuses either because you had chances to win this game whether or not you yourre pitching was good. And And I thought, you know, outside of Cin Holderman I a Sunday, I Yeah, the pen was great The White socks don't have a good bullpin either And ironically enough, for as much as we are concerned about this guuardians buull pen They are by far the best bull planen in the division. The Tigers bullpen is bad. The royals don't matter, the twwins is terrible and the White sox is worse than the Guardians. So Ironically enough, they have the best. I feel like they think White Tx and Guardians are a little bit close just because you know, I mean Newcm Hudson and Taylor, though they got to Taylor have been really tough. They kind of have a big three like Cleveland has. I think it's I think there is a degree of tightness, but I think Yeah. I mean, like you said, I think Bottom line is Tanner was an impossible situation But he didn't pitch when he came back in was impossible situation. most guys are going to struggle Um, with the way that was set up. you know, they needed you know, in the way they're set up right now, it's like they couldn't really fest to go out and throw, you know two, three innings to lead off and then try to do a bullpen game. They're just not built to do bullpen games because the pitch su has been so good. they haven't needed to consider bullpen games and openers. like You don't do that when your rotation is as strong as it is. so they weren't set up to rotate to something else. Yeah, you just would have liked to have seen Tanners' been fantastic. I'm just going to take this as a blip game and throw it out because he has been great and this was a, you know, an unusual situation The six runs set them down, but they battled back. and then Holderman, you know, couldn't record him out. and L I said, you, ravis Banna in the eighth just don't swing. Like he doesn't swing this game goes into extras. It's as simple as that. So They had a lot of opportunities, they had a lot of battling. And you know, outside of Satday's game, they had a decent amount, dare I say of offense, which has been a big complaint. I not to say it was great, but they had a few offensive explosions in this series. So You know, there's some positives takeway oververall, they just continue besides Saturday. they have opportunities to score. L they're still giving themselves chances to win. that's frustrating. that they're not coming through, you know, outside of the walk opps on Friday and or Thursday and Friday in You know, on top of that, this is a series that's been played very tightly. all but one game has been decided by O run in the the game The Guardians lost was a two run game. so These two teams have been very evenly matched and I expect that's going to be the same. going forward. we'll talk about a few more highlights and lowlights from this weekend We'll talk about the three Guardians All stars, then we'll get into some draft talk college hitters on the rest of this episode Big thank you to our friends over at Amazon for this limited break this back to school so yout want to spend less on your kids. with Amazon. Supercast com goo to the link in your show notes and start a seven day free trial when you sign up The other things I thought were interesting for this weekend, Jeff too were obviously the bullpen was really good. It was great to see Franco Alman back. He looked good Um, you know, I know people were like I said, you know, that giant exs velocity, the four forty six home run from Gabrielarace on Sunday, eighty was like an eighty three mile hour swing, which is incredible I like, that's why you can't quit him. Pople like, Yeah, you can. It's he's been garbage long enough. And I'm like, Yeah, if it had a better option Maybe like our you know, Jose' out. when Jose comes back, I don't know. I don't think there's anybody on the on the roster you can replace him with. that's going to be a better fit for what he does. And then Ca Watson's been a lot of fun. New the walk offff hit on Friday, which was great But he's I think twice now. I've seen him steal second and third in the same time on base Um, I think that's definitely a guy you can live with the swing and mist he's got because A it hitss the ball hard and his speed is such an impact. on the basis Um, some of the stuff in the profile has kind of gone south since he started They tooick up more of a sample size, but Deense is still good. He made a great play in center field onn Sunday, like this is a kid I want to see more from Um, you know, it's it's still t and this is what the Guardians do every year. It's always trying to balance winning the division and development. So it's like if Watson starts to hurt you, I guess you can send him down, but He's a guy I want to see Rst fromom and I want to seeven improve because I think there's something here with you know, at least theunon side of of the stuff and You know, it didn't work out today, but also credit to Steven Vote. We've been pretty hard on him. about how he handles openers, the white sockx on the left handed opener And he went out there with what three or four left handed hitters in a row. It was it was Bazana Watsonana Yeah, and And then Manzardo Didn't get fry in there, D didn't get Hotkins in there until the end. and He waited until there was a left handed pitcher in the game to do those things. So I mean Did't work out, but I'll take process over results any day of the week because I think that process will lead to good results No, and you know, we talked about like everything going on. It's like We talked about like Messic battled without his best off. He only struck out three, but he also only gave up one earned run. It was You know, Tim Harron, um continuing to to have his struggles and then Miffestter being Mfestter Uh, you know, otherwise this would have been a one one game. likeike it was it was another one they really could have had a chance in they just didn't they had seven hits. They also had two errors. as Cabrango continue to have his set of struggles Um ye and it's that's the thing. Like when one of these guys is ready to go, it's very clear that Cooper and Golby the first guy down. He is is so crossed up. He can't tell up from down right now. He's not swinging it pitches in the zone. He's expanding out of the zone Um they hadn't played DH today And you know, it's just, it's it's the high strikeout total. The thing with Watson that made it work when he had his struggles Yeah, So Ingles's got twelve strikeouts in twenty one at bats. So that's that's you know, he's on strike out nearly every other atat Watson, as you said, he had the defense. he had the speed and yeah, his his games are A little hit or miss. like he had a hit today and then after that there was nothing and there is that danger of that. and he's going to carry a high K rate And you know, I think you can make it work depending on how you make the roster work. but I think him having speed, giving you another option centerfield. there's some nice things there Um again, you know, after these these two games are done, I'm like, well, it's very easy for me when when Jay Rammond and And on hell already, it's like, well, Inle goes back down and then we can let go Rese Hoskins because what are we even doing here? L There's no point to happ' course Yeah, like I know you don't have a natural first baseman as a backup at that point, but I feel like if you really need first you know, F I can play first Um, You know, Scheeman can play anywhere on the diamond if you ask him to he'll figure it out in about a half an hour. I Gest Yeah, it's like those are the guys. I mean, Hoskins again today was another strikeout swinging. It's just that's not working Um Manzardo. you know, he's he's cooled off as well. Like and that's that's the the hard part, you know, G talk about all stars. It's like Bizana, he had the two hits, but then he's also been in a bit of a cold streak and to see seen everything continue to tumble with him. So Yeah, right now they're kind of dealing with it. They got a lot of guys who are in ups and downs and It's unfortunate because you really felt like they should have taken three out of four. Like I really thought they' going some out today Um just because I did too As you talked about, like they got to beat a buull pen. They really relied on like Richards and Newcom and Newcom and struggled with control And that's why too, like especially with Nucom Come on, you know he's got control of this You just in Travis normally takes pitches I'm like just take just take that pitch. just watching that unfold That's the really the moment of the game for me because it's just like if he just takes that pitch, its it's a different outing. Everything changes and then, you know, maybe they leave this taken three out of four. but yeah, it's u You know, it's it's a frustrating one, but that's what' happen sometimes So if you missed it, Guardians do have three all stars, two rookies U well, great rally cats here now, but they don'ret play Monday. so differentiff cat, different cat. Oh well, okay, different cat. U So Kate Smith made it. he's not a rookie, but obviously Travis Bana and Parker Messic both were named All stars I have I have a lot of annoyance from MLB that they announced the All Star team on Saturday at like seven thirty on Fox when On july fourth, when people are out, you know, they're grilling, they're in the pool Um they're blowing off fireworks and their fingers and all sort of stuff. Fox needed something after the World Cup coverage was over. and that was essentially what it was. It was like after the Wor Cup game ended, like, okay, we'll jump to this next. Nobody's watching when you do that. L nobody's watching the N anyways Well, was this the first year it was on Fox? I feel like it was usually on ESPN every. I think it was let ESP in the past, but I think ESPN let it go because like It's not a Um, I don't think it's much of an eye gainer NBA. I mean,, okay, the NFL all stars don't matter because it's the stuidest thing ever, but The NBA does a lot bigger than that and so I believe does the NHL like Yeah, but I couldn't even find the NHL one back when I wanted to like watch them do their draft. like They all of them make it exceptionally hard to locate I would have rather have seen it tonight on Sunday when they do it. I guess maybe for scheduling purposes, they needed to know U, but it's just you stuck it on july fourth at a time slot. No one's going to be watching. So it's like What a Like it was such let the air out of the moment. Like it was it could have been so much more exciting than it was. And it was exciting to find out that You know, Bazana was named an all star and and Parker Messic was, you know, Not a surprise, but I wasn't sure he was going to make it. Camith was the only guy I felt really confident about. Parker was going to make it, no matter what. Those were the only two guys I felt really confident about Yeah. All right, we'll talk more about that. I want to ask which one was your most surprising and which one are you most impressed by? We will get to that and then some more draft talk. We'll talk about college hitters the last part of today's episode biggest stage in world soccer is happening right now and every match feels like It has potialally be a memorable moment. One goal can change the energy of a single game whether that's shifting the momentum or the outcome in a single instant. That's what makes tournent soccer so exciting, opening whistle the final kick and now Fado is getting Soccer fans like you a reason to stay invested and locked into every match. everyvery goal pays. So but in a match with get bonus bets, for every goal scored on that match for more goals means more bonus bets, all you got to do is turn on that ken. I've heard a lot of great stories about the tournament overall. I know there's so much interesting things going on over there about favorites getting upset, Kate Verdie. I see a lot of that. I'm not a big socceraller, but I can tell you, Parker Messic is still at twenty plus fivecent out of the rookie of the year. So Nick and the allsar team has not changed things. the betting on for Rokie of the Year. So still maybe a nice time to jump in on that butt from the opening whistle to final kick. let's there be goals. I was, you know, I was just like every home rod. Yeah h. Yeah I know, you know, it's and I got to throw out some, you know, fun numbers that Bazana is their first first round pick since Francisco Lendor to make an all star team. L that's the last first roundnder who' who's made an all Star team. It's been quite a a gap for them and and and the things too. it's like in that time period, their only first round picks ind top ten picks were Lindor, Clint Fraaser and Bazanna. Like as much as like the the Tigers were like the competition this year that is a team that picked in the top ten. five, six times in the last decade, like it's I know people get mad about this team can't hit or this team can't do that. It's this team manages to compete every year without getting the advantage of getting those easier picks of finding those guys who are major leagers, you know and It it was Uh, you know, the fact that they keep staying where they are is kind of an accomplishment for team and just overall where their ability to find talent and find it in the margins. I think it's, you know, like I said, it's really hard to find brereakout talent after the first ten picks really The drop off is pretty big. I'd have to go look at my the math I did for it. But yeah, it's it's it is a kind of an accomplishment that they've only had three top ten picks in the last thirteen years and two of them were all stars. And one of them you traded for another All star. So You got three all stars now you got three top ten pigs Yeah after one year anyway. Yeah. Now that I the number is a little bit deeper on Parker Messic, I'm less surprised. Like I just I just thought maybe he'd get you know overlooked because of Cleveland and being a rookie and all the other stuff, but And the fact that they, you know, Kate Smith was a lock for the All Star gamees. So I thought they'll leave him off. I didn't think Basana had a chance, even though I knew second base was wor was pretty bad. So now that I go back and look at Messic like he's he's what? third He's fourth overall in the American League and war by pitchers He's at top six and ERA he's eight in f Um, he's fourth and innings pitch right behind Gavin Williams, which is hilarious. Um, so all the things that are there for Parker Mask, he was more than deserved. I just kind of figured they would overlook him for the market and the fact that he's a rookie and because u You know, the guuardians were already being represented by by Kate Smith Um, anyway Do thinks that There's any chance it probably doesn't because Kevin McGonagall also made it And I was like, does this give him any Roie of the Ye now Juice at all have he made the All Star team? No Um Yeah, no. he's McGonacall's blowing him out of the water. He's doing it a harder position and he's doing it defensively as well U Are you talking Visana or are you talking Messic Sorry, massic. Yeah, I mean, I don't think it helps because at the end of the day it never goes to pitchers unless they're utterly obsenely dominant. It always goes to hitters. I don't think he's got a chance Um, ye, you know, I just thought I point out that like You know, I talkoke about Austin Hedges making the team There are eight American League. and this is if I drop it down and this isn't even true because Richie Pacios doesn't really play second base and Gladar Torres has only appeared in thirty six games. So there's one, two, three four. There's six second basemen right now in the American League that are a ninety eight or better WRC plus And there's eight catchers. So that gives you an idea of just like second base is right now the weakest in American League. It's really bad had the most votes of any American League player, which is hilarious because I mean, Hu Sanchez was high in the voting. Everyone from Toronto was high in voting. Yeahatter is last year and you got all Canada I mean, yeah, right now, if you filtered out to two hundred forty of baths because Ban is a two hundred forty nine. Yeah he has the best WRC plus of any AL second baseman. He's only second in Steelals to Jazz Chisholm Uh, he's like what tied for third or fourth making homers. F worth f by the Fanraph metric. Oh, I'm sorry, third worst defense. I'm sorry. that's not true. I I think it is both an honor though to be chosen by your te, you know, your peers like because he was vot in as a Like the fans are one thing like you could see what's going on in Toronto, right? L like Vlad Guerrero already opted out, you know, saying he had a back injury, but Vlad's not having a great year and Ernie's a great story And he deserves to be there D deserves to be there. A starter, I mean ye, I don't know I've got a higher WRC plus than Bazana No, he doesn't Cence at one hundredzero seven design as at one hundred thirteen Well, that's okay. So I'm looking only at when they're playing second base's because they're any play place so many. Okay. Well I'm looking at as their primary position. Yeah. it's Yeah, it's it's a one hundred twelve right now and Clements at one hundred and seven Um I think it's the ultimate sign of respect though is that you know, Ban as a rookie and he got voted in by by his peers like other players That's how reserves get selected. Same with Masic too U and Kate Smith. All the guys that went for Cleveland were voted in by fellow players and coaches. likeike that to me is the ultimate sign of respect about what you can do especially when you're a rookie for the first two and then you know, Kate Smith being his first year as fall closer Yeah, and it's, you know, in Kid has had a shs ups and downs, but like it's been ninety percent ups We just all get focused on the downs. That's the joy of being a relver in baseballs is that's always the focus And you know, again, it's I think Bazan has earned it. I think If he was in the national masks. I'm sorry now that me to knows and I'll never mind sorry. you know, if u If he was in the National League because it probably doesn't make it. Let's be honest. Likes that's just the way it breaks down between leagues But, you know, he is he's earned this opportunity. He's not here as a u an honorable mention or something like that. he's amongst the best at his position He is definitely amongst the best in the American League. And you know, he's still figuring it out. He is a player who It is pretty unusual to have a guy get called up who didn't start the year in the big leagues and they missed the whole month, basically. Yeah. and for him to be up there in a lot of counting counting stats, not just like I mean, like he is right like third, I think in home runs among American League second baseman and he missed a month So he's doing a lot of things while. Messic absolutely should be there. He's him and Kate Smith were the ones I assumed. And after that, I thought you maybe had a chance with the Bazana. I know a lot of people I saw were like, what about U Rokio, well, I hate to break itver its just the short stw position is really deep and Rokeo is probably not even with the injuries like, you know, Bobby Whitt is is absolutely phenomenal And then you and he deserves to be there. Yeah. Colsa Montgomery would get the shot over him. How many like twenty plus home runs I feel like he's hit one every time Cleveland's faced him. It's probably not the case. It just feels like that way with Colon Montomery he's at seventeen, but it's like Yeah, they're um You know,s it's tough in the American League and there's McGonacall deserves to be there He's having a fantastic year. It's a deep bench a short stop. Um second base is the weakest position in the league and then I would say maybe center fielder after that like if you're going pure talent. So Um I'll be curious to see all three guys deserve to be there. It's great to see all three of them there. and Yeah, it's, you know, don't you feel a little bit better about this team in general I think The injuries have hurt, donon't get me wrong. and there's been some ups and downs, but I feel better about this team now than I did at the start of the year because I wasn't sure I still had some questions about Bazana and he's continued to you know, put some of those to bed. I I had concerns with Chase. He has put some of those to bed. like Rokchio has stepped up to be something more than I ever expected this year. We'll see what he can, you know, continue to do.g just is a one hundred fourteen WRC plus We'll talk more about tomorrow I did some digging into some metrics. so we'll talk more about about that tomorrow because I feel like we need to dig in and figure out why is alough I look forward to hearing about it. But it's like You know, they're You know, and the other thing I'd be very curious to look at. I don't want to say is to diging the Chicago guys. But I also kind of want to look at like, I mean, I know like Teal Homer today that that was the killer to me because Kyle Teal has really struggled this year. He went the other way too. He went the other way. I'm like I was the one. I was like, Tan or come on, bud That's the one we need back But like Vargas and Montgomery like they're gonna to have and then before comomy got hurt, like they're on pace to have like thirty five home run. I know back in the day and I can't remember what it used to be called, but that park used to be quite the home run easy spots. I'm also kind of curious to see if it's if it's not in with some of those numbers. White sos do have big home road splits as far as being better home on the road. I know that. I would believe it. But again, Montgomery should totally make that all star team over Rokeo sorry guys. Like that's Rokeo would maybe be next in line. but you know, I would say this Rokeo is a near all star, which is not what I had on my my Bingo card. So I think I'm and you know, KQuan has shown some minor signs of life. Let's also be honest with that. this series was not his worst in a while. So I am he he shot some balls the other way. Yeah. Yeah. I'm praying to, you know, whatever higher powers there might be that he has a reverse of his typical year and just goes off on a heater in the second half because point I haven't changed this lineup Let's let's wrap things up talking about some college hiters and who want to dig into more positition. Are there any? because it doesn't bother run well I don't know, now where Cleveland's gonna to end. So we talk about pick nineteen like I think I don't know about you. I would love love it if they could get like guys like like a Drew Buris or Tyler Bell, but let's the realistics are not going to be there ninet se They probably won't be there when you get past like ten or twelve Um I know your guy is Logan Hughes or Bust on They'll get used no matter what is essentially where I am Yeah, like I did a bunch of write ups in college hitters today and I'm like Yeah no, like Slwer Stchue Sneider, I wouldn't be like that's that's another by everyone's mocking him there and it's like That's just another to me by the dip thing. like J Slavvela like last year. It's the same thing like I wouldn't be as that hpe coming of the year and he's going to fall I wouldn't be as upset with that just because the strikeout rate isn't as high, but I sat there for all of these guys and I broke it down. in conference in the bigig twelve, which is, you know, a mediocre conference two twenty eight batting average two twenty nine batting average three hundred forty one on base four fifty seven slugs, likeike If this guy elite talents need to be elite you know, at this level because most of the guys you'reacing are arent aren't going away anywhere. And if he's having problems with contact. I said, I did not like the JS level uppick up on record with that because guys with that K rate just don't succeed. It I wouldn't love no shider there, but I got to be honest, like unless it's loogan Hughes more than likely, I'm not going to love anyone they take there. So it's like I can get it. Hopefully, it's an under sllot value would be my hope I I just Yeah, the the the college group is just really, really underwhelming. It's I mean You and I were talking off air. AJ u Gassia, like Grassa potential top ten pick before the year began. You know, a lot of his data is kind of mid D have a great year, he dealt with some injuries and his exit Villo absolutely tanked I just put him to the top twenty because I wrote them up really early in the process and And I was like, you know what, frrankly now that I've written, you know, seventy capsules, No, he should be higher because that capsule actually sounds better than the others. Like there's a pathway recovery here. There's a way to potentially like maybe it was switching schools. He went with his coach though, so he wouldn't think the coaching would change. but it's like he moved with his coach and everyone at Virginia kind of slipped back this year. You know, Joe Tleio was a really intriguing transfer who didn't hit. a lot of guys didn't hit for them. I don't know what the easy answer is. butirginia O Virginia Hitics are terrible Yeah, I don't think of that that that program. you just are no longer a good hitter, I don't know, even though they're good co collegiately Yeah, he's strange Yeah, I just I just don't really love. I would I mean, I'm with you on Hughes. I think he's got a good data. I'd be curious to see if you've got his SEC splits I They're in the document What are they? What are they? Let me go to the correct document. No, actually not. I'm sorry. I lied. He is not on tomorrow. Okay, we'll do tomorrow. Like you and I were in on Ace Reese, the the third basase from Texas A and M earlier. I think we've both kind of fallen out of love there at nineteen plus he's probably moving into first base and then he hit well in the SEC, but apparently he missed a lot Like he had a twenty six percent K rate and like his in zone Wiff and his chase were really out of control in the SEC Yeah. I just I just don't like the names I wrote up today, I'm just like There's not a college hitter at nineteen that I'd be really interested in. Like I know you you like Logan Hughes, but what you just told me there There I mean, I dont know No, I mean, I wasn't talking about Hughes. I mean, I like Hgh because Hughes does everything. likeike he literally. Oh I thought that was I thought you were talking about his college or his. No, that was not I don't have, I don't have Hughes' big twelve p his tack Yeah, but no, I think re single one who Oh yeah, yeah. that was Ace Rese. I was just I was saying Ace Rese is that guy So yeah, I mean, we'll see what Hughes' SEC data is I'm sorry, Big twelve, He's bigig twelve not SEC Yeah Texas Tch, but Like, yeah, we've seen Derek Carrio and Shroe Snyder and you know, there's other guys like Kaden Serrell and Curria was great in the SCC. I'll say that. Yeah He's not going to get there either. I would gladly take him. He's a top ten player to me. you're not getting him. The thing I worry about him though is like He's a safer pick you know, like Is is am I wrong to feelill in that way? Like I feel like he's Yes, he might be safer, but you know, it doesn't matter if everyone else like, I'll take the The safer twenty dollars bill over a dodgy one dollar bill. likeike it's everyone else is so dodgy that like, yeah, maybe normally wouldn't normally I wouldn't have Curryo on the top ten, but it's like, okay, he makes contact. he plays defense He has decent exit Vos, he does not chase Like he's going to be a solid regular. Like there is a very good chance that guy is a solid regular. Everyone else after the top ten this year I'm just like I like a few traits. It's Yeah Yeah this is why they trreated pick thirty so readily. It's just like This draft is just there is no depth to it. It's a bad draft class. Yeah, the college headters are just are just not exciting. I' I I I'm still youre further along in the process than I am trying to finish mine this week because the traff is Saturday, but like The high school hitters and the college pitching to me at nineteen just stands out Not a ton more because it's not great either, but It stands out to me more than the the college hitters, the options at nineteen. Like I I think I'd be pretty underwhelmed if they w a college hitter at nineteen. no matter. I mean, Hughes is going to be my only top ten guy who will be available in nineteen. I'll call that not. He's going to be my own So like I would love that because he's plus power. He just hits the ball. I want to hear the numbers tomorrow from his big twelve splitz. willill you do that? We have time to that tomorrow I can try. Okay. we'll try to we'll try to get those numbers together the twelve splits Hous is a big twelve is a good pitching conference, but Certainly they would have played better teams in conference than they would have non conference. So We'll see what returns there But yeah, we'll talk more about I don't know. Colle pitchers tomorrow, maybe Jeff Sure, we can look at that. I mean, we could always talk even though like I don't love Prep pitching I' say prep pitch is a great depth of the class. and even if we You just talk pitching in general because like even if it's not the first round. We know they're going to take a prep player prep pitcher at some point in this draft if not to. They like to grab a few. We'll talk we'll talk pitching tomorrow on the draft end of things For sure we'll get you prepared for Minnesota series coming up this week and the Guardians end their first half in Miami, which might be a bit of a test. They're veryery spicy teams, so it should be very, very interesting. If you do have draft questions you want us to cover this week because I think Jeff we're going try to spend a lot of time doing draft stuff considering it's on Saturday So if you have any draft questions you want to drop, we will definitely try to get to them or just try to incorporate them in our coverage this week I just want to take a second and call out everyday Dave Yoder, who has yet to comment once on the grandpa's cheese Frisbee,'s been up a month now, Dave.
