Raise your hand to help at B ofA dot com slash soccer at schools The French freak is Texas bound. fiveive star offensive liman Ishmael Kamara just committed to the Longhorns. We're talking about why it matters a lot coming up on lockdown Longhorns Its You are Lcked on Longhorns, your daily podcast on the Texas Longhorns. Part of the Lcked on Podcast Network, your team every day Welcome in. you were locked on at the Texas Long Horns. I'm your host, BK Brad Kellner. Breaking news, breaking news. Texas just landed one of the biggest commitments And the entire twenty twenty seven recruiting cycle. Ishmael Kamara is a longghorn. the five star offensive limemen out of Gilmer, Texas by way of France, just committed to Steve Sarkeesian and the Texas Longhorns and this is a monster pickup. This is not just Texas adding another offens of limemen. This is Texas landing one of the best offensive line prospects in America in years He's a top twenty player in the class, a top three player in the state of Texas and a total war daddy on the offensive line. The French freak as he's affectionately labeled is coming to Texas. If you follow this recruitment and or this channel over the last couple of weeks, this isn't exactly coming out of nowhere. Now the timing is, we weren't sure exactly when this announcement was going to be made, but there have been rumors trending Texas for a little while now The buzz had been building, The confidence had been growing. The timeline moved up. And now it is official. And when you talk about the kinds of players that Texas needs to keep adding to win at the highest level of college football This is it six foot six around three hundred and forty pounds. a guy who squats more than seven hundred and fifty pounds, a guy who can deadlift eight hundred pounds. He is a freak. Rre movement ability, crazy athletic profile, massive frame, big power and still so much room to grow As a football player. That's what makes this so exciting and that's what makes Kamara unique compared to a lot of other recruits that Texas has signed. He's already a five star. He's already one of the most highly regarded players in the country, but he's still relatively new to football. He moved to the States from France early in high school. He has not been playing football for his entire life. He was playing the other football Growing up You know, a lot of these offensive lyemen that places like Texas reccruit have been going to camps since they were eight years old. Kamara is still learning the sport and learning the finer points of the game and yet he is already this good. That's what makes the upside so ridiculous. The physical profile stands out. He just looks different. He is a first guy off the ball dude, massive. but he's not some stiff lumbering big guy. again, he moves really well. insane quickness for a player his size grew up playing soccer. He'll occasionally post videos of him playing soccer on his social media accounts and it's insane. I mean skills a guy my size would love to have Also, he'll post videos of him running routes for fun And he could scoot. I mean, just a ridiculously rare combination of size and athleticism. It doesn't come around often. And what I love maybe even more then the size is the demeanor He plays Mat. Like that's the best way to say it. He plays with an edge, he chooses violence, He plays like someone who wants to set a tone. And again, that's exciting because he's so inexperienced. Sometimes when you get a newer football player Especially one with the elite traits. you wonder is the physicality there? Does that actually match the athletic ability? Look, soccer in the most physical sport in the world. You don't have to worry about that being an issue with Kamara. He's got the temperament you want from an offensive lineman. He wants to move people. He wants to impose himself. He's got a lot that Kyle Food can work with The scouting profile and some of the scouting reports mean exactly what you want to read when you're talking about a five star offensive linemen, elite physical tools, the movement skills, punch power, great hands, the competitive demeanor. He's also played both ways in high school. He's taken reps at multiple defensive spots. Heck Gilmer snapped him the football on some like QB runs. imagine trying to tackle that dude. Are you kidding me? He's played a lot of different positions and they find unique ways to get him involved. But the fact that he's played on the offensive line and the defensive line, that's cool to me, right? When O Limemen have defensive experience, they understand leverage better. They understand angles, they understand physicality in a different way. They know what defenders are trying to do because they've done it at times themsel. You also does shock put and discus in high school spoiler alert. He's really good. The weight room numbers are ridiculous. You hear all these things and you start to understand why the nickname fits the French freak. That's not just branding. that is the profile. a massive athlete who's already dominating yet still learning football and he's got physical gifts to become something truly special B case scenario best case scenario here. is Kelvin Banks. And I want to be careful here because Kelvin Banks is one of the best offfits of Lyman Texas has had in a long time came in as a five star. started as a true freshman at left tackle three years in Austin developed under Kyle Flood and left as a top ten NFL draft pick. an insane career path that doesn't happen very often. So I'm not sitting here guaranteeing you that Kamara is going to automatically be Kelvin Banks. That would be unfair. Best case scenario, That's the dream. That's the blueprint. And that's what Texas can sell. like come to Austin as a five star tackle, get developed here, compete early, play in big games, build your NFL resume, become a top flight draft pick. That's not a made up recruiting pitch. Texas has proof. Celvin Banks is that proof and that comparison is something that Texas can absolutely use on the recruiting trail. We've talked about Kelvin Banks talking to a number of recruits during visits here in the summer. That's a good guy to listen to and obviously a good sell for Texas. If you handle your business, if you buy into the coaching, this can be you. Ag, best case scenario, but the fact that we can even talk about that kind of ceiling tells you how big of a commitment this truly is. Kamara can be a multiear starter and he can be a coveted pro prospect down the line. By the way Trevor Goosby the Longghorns first team all SEC starting left tackle here in twenty twenty six Well, he's likely going pro at the conclusion of this year There is a possibility that Camara would be Texas' starting left tackle in week one of the twenty twenty seven season. posossibility They'll be in a competition. There are other current guys on the roster. Texas can obviously portal two, but that's what we're talking about here Some details on the recruitment. this was not a normal one. Kamara did not take any official visits this summer, not here, not to anywhere else. He didn't make unofficial visits. So he's been to Austin. He got around the program. but this was not we've talked a lot about You know, Texas being able to roll out the red carpet for some guys on OVs this summer and that's why they've been able to close. This one was different. Relationships helped. NIL if we're being honest was a big factor here, but you will take it. Kyle Flood was massive. the offensive line coach, of course, this is his room, but this was a full staff effort. Chris Gilbert, Brandon Harris, Blake Gideon, obviously, Steve Sarkeesian Really the entire staff had a hand in this one. Texas was al ligned and that's how you're able to scoop a five star offensive lineman like this. Texas made them feel like a priority. They sold him the development, the culture, the fit, the academics. They sold him what Texas can be around him. Again, they bought maybe as much as they sold, but it all worked in unison Texas had been trending for a couple of weeks. The rumors were there, the smoke was there and there was reason for both of those things. the staff able to get the job done. This offens of line class is coming together nicely. I mean, Brian Swanson out of South Ooughak clliff, Lucas Rowa out of California, Jackson Cook out of West Lake Ke on Hempill Woods out of Columbus. You already had a pretty good offens of line class Now Kamara changes the headline. You get that five star, you get that cornerstone piece, you get that anchor. Yes, you need depth and developmental guys and versatile guys, but you also need stars. Kamara is that. He's the top end talent that makes this whole really whole recruiting class, but especially the offensive line unit look completely different This is what you have to do. You've got to build through the trenches Texas is bringing in great quarterbacks. You've got Arch. you've got KJ Lacey and Dia Bell waiting in the wing. You just got Nem and Lawrence to comeit a couple of weeks ago. If you're going to recruit QBs like that, you need offensive linemen like this to protect them. Keep stacking up front. Now, I'll say this. we say this with just about everybody commits this time of the year, but it's really important for a player this good The recruitment' not over. That's the world we live in. Everybody else is going to keep calling. AM is not going to go away. SMU, Houston, other programs from around the country are going to keep trying here. Obviously huge that Texas gets the commitment, but now the Longhorns have to defend it, keep recruiting him Keep their relationship strong, keep making them feel like he is a priority because this is the kind of player other schools are going to chase all the way until December That's the reality. But again Make no mistake. I'm not trying to scare anybody is a massive win to get him in the boat right now. Ismel Kamara is a longghorn fiveive star tackle, top twenty national player, the French freak, one of the rarest physical profiles you're ever going to see with a high school player, huge athletic, plays with anger and still relatively new to the game, which makes the ceiling even more exciting. Again, we talked about the best case scenario, the Kelvin Banks bllueprint Maybe a day one starter, but maybe more importantly a guy who develops into a first round draft pick down the line. That's the kind of ceiling we're talking about here. huge Pick up. for Texas. Huge win for Steve Sarkeesian and Kyle Flood and this staff. continues to get better and better, seemingly by the day. These are the kind of pieces you absolutely need to add. The Longhorns have a headliner for their offensive line class and really another headliner for the entire class. This twenty twenty seven group just got a whole lot more dangerous Great news. Ishael Kamorra commits to Texas We'd love to get y'alls thoughts in the comments below. Who's next to hear from y'all.'ll obviously keep talking about it moving forward, but that will do it for this one.
