I’ve sensed a presence in our bedroom — Jun 23, 2026 — starts at 0:00
Hell welcome to another new episode of Lash with me, Joanna Page. And me James Thornton. In fact you laugh when I said. Because it's really funny because we don't and we haven't worked with each other for years. and now we are properly working with each other. And I can't help but just laugh about it because I just want to make fun of you. So I've been feeling particularly cheery because I am making a conscious effort now when I get into bed at night to not scroll through Instagram. Oh good. Normally I get into bed right and every night I'll scroll through Instagram or I'll start watching my box set. and I've stopped doing it. so I've now started getting a full eight hours proper sleep. And it's amazing. It's transforming me. I have realised that my algorithm now is starting to change on Instagram because normally I follow everything that is like breastfeeding,, you know tips on how to wean children how to get your children to eat, what we should be feeding them. And then I get sent stuff all the time which is if you are saying these things to your children now, then by the time they hit seven, their lives will be over. Oh You know implement these ways of playing with your children so that they will grow up to be a fully functioning adult, how to keep you know, like horrible people away from your children, How to alert your children so they don't get honest to God, right the amount of stuff I get sent for food for how to keep them safe for what I should and shouldn't be saying, how I should be parenting, basically doing everything wrong and then also on top of all of that, all of the normal women stuff, which is I'm over the hell I'm fat I wrinkly, I should be taking collagen, I should be taking everything else. I should be on retinol. I should basically take my face off, give it a wash under the sink and put it back on again. how I should be doing this with my hair, how all of these It's like I'm being bombarded with it constantly. You don't ever really sort of realise and take you take yourself out of it. But over the last week, right? I have now started following Erlin Harland I follow Ronaldo, I follow I'm not following Mess yet. I'm following Harry Kanaine. I'm following Alan Sheira, Gary Linaker, Roy Keeene. I'm following the oververlap. I'm following is this bad that I'm seeing everybody else's podcasts? E everybody should be listening to mine. I'm following the rest' football I they start mentioning yours and then Well. I am following all of this stuff now which is all about football, all about the World Cup And my God, right, my algorithm has changed and I have to say it's completely and utterly changed how happy I am. Becauseuse all I'm doing right is getting send funny videos of Roy Keeen on his podcast and then stuff all about Harland and how much of a Viking he is Ronaldo, I mean, I could watch anything with Ronaldo. Yeah. all stuff about Messi, all stuff about how you do like amazing different goals and what they've all been like over the years and all stuff for right all about Gary Linaker Absolutely loving it. I can talk in detail now about football. I was telling you all about an interview that I was listening to with Roy Keeen the other day. No more, right? Am I getting things with dress with me today? I don't want a bloody dress with you today. Do you know what I want to do? I want to see three fellas Markin Harand and then I want to see him scoreing a load of goirlals. That's what I want to see. And it just lifts you That's what I find about football since Noah got into Noah's football mad, obviously I was saying this and he's got me right back into football again like when I was young because I was football mad when I was young. And then obviously you have kids and you don't have time for it blah blah. And then he's into it he's got me right back into it. And what I love about it is the simplicity of it. It's just that ball goes into that goal, right? that's it, simple as that. And it doesn't stress me out. Whenever I look at anything to do, if I listen to football podcasts, I watch football highlights, anything like that I find it now really relaxing and it just takes your mind off any stresses of the day. And it's just really simple. I'm looking forward the Wor Cup' brilliant in it. I'm so looking forward to getting even more stuck into it now. And yeah, I think you've got to change your algorithm sometimes. haven't ye? Yeah. Because there's a lot of stuff that can make you panicky. Oh tell you you've got this problem, you've got that problem. You need to think about the stuff you have never even thought about. I mean, you know what, right? I'm thinking about I constantly get sent these videos of if these are the things you're saying to your children now, then basically their life is over. Or if you're not playing with your children in this way, they're not going to be able to be a fully functioning adult And and then I thought to myself the other day, for goodness' sake, I'm a normal person. I'm a nice person. I'm trying to get by and get on with life and bring up four children. How bad can I be? Or how bad can it be if I've just gone No, No you can't have that. Go and do this and put your clothes away I mean, or if I've gone well, actually, I am going sit down and I'm going to have a little read of a magazine whilst Beo is playing with her blocks and I'm not giving her one one hundred percent of the whatever or or I've decided to solve a problem with her instead of letting her do it on her Oh for goodness, when I was brought up right, I had an amazing time and half the timeone I didn't get any of this sort of stuff. Parents never thought about that sort of thing. No, I everything from the microwave And you know what? I absolutely loved it. I mean, mum was a really good cook and we had fairy cakes and we had all sorts of stuff and she cooked from fresh But when the microwave came in, it was like full go on the microwave and it didn't do me any harm. I've got to forty nine. It hasn't done me any harm and oh my god, some you've just got to get on with it, haven't you? We used have Findus crispy pancakes. Did you ever let ever have them No, I was see that was a step that I wasn't Mum never ever b that. So we had the Fers Krispy pancakes, but not the real ones. the read from the Reject freezer shop. Yeah. So there was a freezer shop in town They did all the misshapen bits were like a clear plastic bag. Yeah and they were, you know, the ones that didn't pass the quality control. the same thing, you know, And we used to ' it was four boys, you know, and myar bet you must have gone so much food. Oh bread. the amount of bread we used to getad was. literally, everything was in a sandwich and just massive amounts of bread. we just constantly eating. and my parents, you know, they weren't wealthy at all, so they had to try and save money whenever they could. And what that's what we did. And we used to have the there's a catalog reject shop in Bradford And we used this catalogue company they'd have a reject shop where all the stuff gets sent back. and we used to get the stuff from there for Christmas presents and stuff. And I remember one time we got this it was like a it's like an evil an evil type thing The jump, like a stupman jump, but it wasn't even evil and evil. and it was opened at Christmas day and it was brokeen and it didn't work But it's you know, it's obviously been sent back. Well you were upset? Becauseuse it was broken. I think briefly and then I tried to fix it and then you moved on. That you'd have loved to fix it. I just think nowadays, everybody worries too much about everything. L if your kids are bored, that's a good thing You know, I used to be. Does it look like we're recording or is it just that your voice is a lot quieter than mine? My voice is a lot quieter, I think. Wow. You've got quieter now as well actually. Have I? Yeah. Why quieting you down? Is it my energy is up? Oh yes, your energy does reach. you're loud coming in there now Yeah. Now if you start talking, you can set a sense that you just start chilling me out and I start going a bit quieter. Yeah. Wellll just stop me when I start getting boring because I just go No you won't. It's nice But yeah, what I was saying about, you know like it's alright for kids to be bored, isn't it? the other day we were sat down, we were just trying have five minutes, weren't we? Yes Bo was saying, o, could do this, do this, do this. and I thought, well, no, no just You have to find things out for yourself and you have to just entertain yourself. sometometimes no we goes well they all do. they go, I'm bored. I'm bored. And I go brilliant. Go and find something to do. Go and make something, G and go and discover how you cannot be bored. Go on go and do something. It's good for them I spent all of my time bored. Yeah I mean, on the summer holidays, I think we had a couple of days out and then it was like you've got to make your own fun. Yeah And I think they've got so much stuff now for stimulation like, you know TV and iPads and all you know, And so they're just not used to just having nothing. Yeah. And it's really good for you to have nothing, inn't it? I think to have nothing. In your head, just sitting there like when you were a kid, you used to sit at the bus stop and wait for the bus And you just used to just wait and it might be half an hour and you just wait, you don't have anything to look at You didn't even have anything to read think that we're expected these days to do so much more than our parents and our grandparents did. because this morning, oh my God, do you know what I thought this morning? Do you know who I need and who I would love to have? Do you know o my go, what's her name now from Paddingon? Julie Walters played the character. You know, they're a housekeeper woman who doesn't yeah in Paddington. Yes. Yeah. Can't remember what' name is either. But I want her I want her to come and live with me. And I suppose right? I would have have like, you know, my great aunt or my grandmother or my mother being able to come and you know spend more time with me if we lived with, you know, family just around us It's the fact that we live so far away from everybody, but I thought, oh my, this morning, I was trying to get everything sorted before recording today. and you were gone because you were doing a little show thing with Bow in S school. And so he was gone doing that. I was up and it seems to me the reset for every single week in our house is basically like Somebody has come in and set a bomb off in the house. I always seemed to thing where I've done the washing, all of the bedrooms are tidy, everything is up and running now. and Marieet, surely it must stay like this. And then within a day, it's like an explosion has gone off again. Did you go into Eva's room? I went into Eva's room, right? And then I walked straight back out and I thought I'm not even dealing with it. She can do it to herself. She's got a suitcase to unpack Yeah Which I probably will go in and do with that today. and then I thought to you, we need to get her wardrobes and stuff sorted in there because you can't really put anything away because it's just it's honestly. I mean I wet towels on the floor. Wet towels All sorts is on the floors. it's unbelievable. And I think why can't you just put that? just hang it up? I knowack on the towel rail. I know that when I was growing up I used to have plates and plates of like gone off food in my room But I was never that messy. Do you know what else I find as well? What Like we'd go to school and they do these assemblies and things and they talking about the environment and saving the world and the planet and blah blah blah. And then you get home, they don't even switch a light off. And they leave a mess and you're like practice what you preach.veryone telling us we've got to do all this stuff for the environment and you've leaving all the lights are on. Yeahitch off the house of d I go around switching them off E everyone starts moaning them like So I always I' obviously doing it the other way save money. but I just start saying to them now, No, I'm trying to help protect the environment. Is that what you say? Yeah, because I think that might, you know that might sort of yeah, that would have some sort of resonance with them. But you go the other way. I mean, my God, somebody can still be in the room in the middle of doing something and you go in and you turn the light off. you would have us living in a house of darkness Cold dark. Cold, dark. M. That's what it was like in the house. I know. I know it was When I was a kid. You'd go into that well, not when you were a child, but you would go into your house when I went there and went up to Bradford. You'd go into the house and it was like going into a cave. It was bloody freezing and just It was like Heathcliff's house in Wutherin Height. It was. It was. Yeah. It was really We were just breaking up chairs to stick on there on the fire. But but it well yeah, we never left lights on If you're not in the room, the lights off? No, do you know what I do, right? and I'll get probably a hammering for this, but I like to leave all of the lights on. And do you know what I found as well when Eva was in France for a week And well basically it's when they're in school as well. I go into all of their bedrooms and I turn all of their lights on because I like to feel like they're still there. I don't like it. walkking past their bedroom and the light is off. I like to feel like they're there Yeah. Do you know as well talking about onating like someone is there? I think we've got a ghost in our bedroom. No. I have started feeling a present. No give it. Yeah, when I've sat on the floor to the left hand side of our bed, I've sat on the floor right and for the past couple of days I've been with my eyes closed and I put my head upside down and I hoover my hair, I was going to say, I hair dry my hair. and when I've had my eyes closed, I have felt a massive presence over my left shoulder like something is there. And I'm very in tune with those the dogs No, because because the first time I open my eyes and I looked straight away because I felt it there was a presence there and nobody was there, the dogs were on the bed. And then it happened again today and I thought I'm going to go with it. I'm going to close my eyes and I'm just going to accept it and go with it and I could feel something heavy on my left shoulder And I think that there's a friendnce in our house is being built O the garden of another house which is up the back. And so they cut their garden off and our house is built on it. so and I think that's well, all land is old. I mean, I' you know, it's a new house we've got, but it's the land that it's built on. Oh my gosh. I know What it It wasn't yard right of him, was it? Well, how do you know? Do you know what it Mind you It was out the other day. Do you know what it was about three hundred, four hundred years ago No, I'm got clo. No, you don't Probably Well, there's a road near us. Oh my gos. U Isn' It's about a hang man something. Yeah hang something or r. Yeah. So what if there was like what if there were like a h like some sort of hang Yeah some people being hung and stuff? Well there's like around the corner from is this is called hanging hanging something, I can't remember it's called now, but it's like that little mountain sort of thing and it's called hanging something. And then another road, didn't they say that it was the road that you would go down and then there were highwayen Highway men the highway men would just wait for you and that was the road that they would rob you There's all sorts of. say Kip found a farath in the other day, an old coin. becausecause we got a metal detector. Yeah. He loves that metal detector. Yeah. You got it for me, didn't you? years ago. when I was just slow away. And you had free time. trying to metal detect for some reason. I never got into it. Obviously was never I think you didn't have I think you'd love it if you I off on my own metal detector at the weekends. I could never get away with that. Imagine See, S, I'll see you on Sunday night. I'm going down metetal detecting. O me own Oh yeah. And anyway, he took it out the other day and he found an old coin, an old fatherthing. What about in our old house he found that big sword, didn't he? He did find a sword Well we're obviously in an area which has got a lot of history. Yeah. So just to let you know, I've sensed a present in our bedroom You sure you just left the window open and there'n a bit of a draft coming. No, it was a real heavy. You know when you can seense somebody standing behind you It was a real it was on my left shoulder and I could feel it. It was like somebody was there that close to me. and today it was there again and I thought, cllose your eyes and just don't push it away. just to stay there and just leave it there. Would you ever get someone in to know try and speak them? Never, never. I would just accept that they were there and just go Okay, you live with us, That's fine. I wouldn't have anybody in to talk or do whatever. I would just be open and I would let my environment around me be open. touchwood, you know if anything happened where there was you know a poltergeist or stuff was being thrown around or things like that I don't think I'd want anybody in then, but if it got to such an extent that something horrific was happening, I'm not sure I would even get somebody in then. I think I go come on, letists just, we got to get out of here. let's just move. Do you believe in spirits? I think I do I think I do. I've always thought that I don't because I think when you die, I think that's it. I don't think you ever leave. I think your body and your soul and your presence just becomes something else, like stardust and you become something else or you become a star We're all sort of kind of here. I don't think that there are lots of souls and people walking around and that's what I've always thought before So I between two Yes and angry and wanting to communicate or wanting to get revenge or I don't believe any of that. But saying that, when I felt the presence, I thought somebody is there. I didn't think it was ghost. I just thought a person is there. and I was quite accepting of it. So I think I airb and flow and I'm all really quite open. I will say I don't think You become something else when you die, but I'm quite open to anything, so if I feel something, I'll go with it. What about you? I had a time one night, you remember in the other house when I thought there was a big eye? Oh my go wasep in that room? Yeah, it was the nursery, wasn't it? Before you had kids Yes. It was the nurseer. I don't know what I was doing in there. was I? I don't know. we had an argument and Id went into the other room. I don't know. I was in was No, it was in the nursery. Maybe it was when we had kids and you One of the kids was in with you Don't try and make out that it was when we had kids I probably we'd probably had a massive bust st up. I'd say if we had to choose one of them, it would be the bust stop. It was Yeah. comeome clean. I was kicked out. I was in the doghouse. I was in the bedroom which then became the nursery and I made this story up as a cl try for help to try and get you to talk to me again. No, No, I didn't. I was like, it was like I woke up in the nighttime and I felt this like, I didn't see it, but I felt like there was a big eye looking at me Oh my god ye It was really vivid. Like you know when you have a dream and it's like really, really vivid. Yeah. It was like that and it freaked me out. And then I thought, o my gosh, maybe it was a ghost. Dbe it was the b room or did you stay in there? No I sat up and it freak it freaked me out and I couldn't get back to sleep for quite a while, and then I did get back to sleep. But it stuck with me I don't know what it was. Did it did it happened was probably a dream that just like No, but I think it happened more than once. it I remember. I think it happened more than once because I remember you telling me. and I think you said it happened more than once because I was quite freaked out because you believed it so much because I think it happened more than once That was a very old house, that one as all. Really old, yeah. Our last house was really old. Whereas this house is brand new? Doesn't m matter.'s around How' there a spirit in this house when it's only been just been built? Yeah, but it's what has it been built on So are you open to that sort of stuff then? Do you believe in God? Well, I'm very open minded. I don't know if I believe I don't know if I believe in it I'm very open minded to anything really? because I don't Are you? Because I don't know why I don't know, you know, none of us know what we're doing here. Do? So like I'm a bit like, yeah, I'll have a listen to anyone's ideas. I tell you what I would like to if people have got ghost stories. Oh send them in on a WhatsApp. Yeah, send them in on a WhatsApp voice note. If you've seen a spiritence something. felt a presence Or anything like that? When we were in my Auntie Iris' house, which then became our house, after Auntie Iris had died, I remember coming out of my bedroom, which used to be her bedroom, I think. and I remember walking out and I could smell her and I couldn't feel her, but I walked out and I sort of walked completely through. it was just like her smell was in this area. And I walked through it and I thought, oh my God, I can smell her And then I turned and then it just completely disappeared the smell. And I always think that she was there Have you ever experienced anything like that? I remember my brother saying in our house when we were kids, he said he was in the house on his own and he heard the piano playing. Oh my go. And he thought it was me downstairs playing the piano And and then the piano playing stopped And he went downstairs and obviously there was no one in the house re him out. Oh my god, o my Godd, that's where are. How do you explain that? I mean, I don't know That's weird. Well, if you've got any voice notes for ghost stories, experiences, whether you think that I'm talking nonsense or actually that could be true. and there is a present in our bedroom thenen send us a WhatsApp voice note. seend it to zero seven four five three thirty eight twenty two fifty nine.
