I think we can all agree it doesn't always work the way it should. If you've ever waited on a prescription refill or had a hard time getting the care you needed, you know what I mean? The system should just work better for everyone. That's exactly what the people at Optim are trying to do every day. They're a healthcare company linking patient care and pharmacy services and using data and technology to dri ve the whole system, so care is connected , not complicated, for patients and providers. Things like making it easier to get care that looks at the whole person, from primary care doctors to mental health support, and even in home care, and then using technology to make sure they all work together. Technology designed to help doctors spend less time on busy work and more time with their patients. And those prescriptions, optimum is bringing costs down, saving patients money and making it easier to get refills. Little by little, Optim is helping make healthcare work as one for everyone. Head to business . Optim dot com to see how We're coming up on the season finale for the nation's highest court . From Marketplace in Washington, I'm Kimberly Adams. The Supreme Court is poised to issue decisions on several major cases as it wraps up its current term. Opinions could come as early as today on cases that impact the independence of the Federal Reserve and Federal Regulatory agencies. Marketplace's Novasafo has the details. Among the two most consequential cases in this term's docket are Trump v. Cook and Trump v slaughter. As the name suggests, they have to do with the president's assertions of executive authority. Trump tried to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. It's the first time ever a president has tried to do so. Lower courts halted the move. During oral arguments in January, justices appeared inclined to also block Cook's firing, expressing concerns about due process and the need to insulate the Fed from politics. In Trump v slaughter, justices appeared more likely to side with the executive branch, ready to overturn a ninety year old legal precedent that protects heads of regulatory agencies , ones that require technical knowledge and scientific expertise from political interference. That case centers on Trump's firing of federal trade commission member Rebecca Slaughter. According to the law, an FTC commissioner can only be fired for cause . Trump fired her over policy differences . I'm Novasafo for Marketplace. More Americans are using GLP one drugs like Ozempic and Wagovi for weight loss , and that's affecting their grocery shopping habits. A new survey from the consumer marketing company Big Chalk Analytics, finds that GLP one use could shave up to two point seven percent off grocery store sales this year. But as Marketplace's Henry Epp reports, food companies are finding ways to adapt. For years, the size of packaged foods went mostly in one direction, bigger, says Rick Miller at Big Chalk. Six packs of Coke turned into twelve packs of Coke turned to forty eight packs of Coke. But in recent years, partly due to shrinkflation, package sizes have gotten smaller, and as more Americans use GLP ones, which reduce food cravingss, there' more demand for that twelve pack again. Companies make up for selling less of their product by charging a higher unit price, Miller says. So you're paying a little bit more per ounce for a smaller portion than you would for a larger portion, but the consumer demand is definitely shifting towards these smaller pack sizes . Packaged food companies are also responding to the growth of GLP ones with marketing to make their products appear more healthy. Craig rally with the consulting firm Cornfairy . That's rethinking your brand. That's rethinking the product that you are selling, and then how do you repackage it to say this is a new and improved, healthy cookie bag . Some companies are also changing ingredients, adding more protein, cutting back carbohydrates. Still, Big Chalk says cut backs from GLP one users could cost the packaged food industry up to twenty one billion dollars this year. I'm Henry App for Marketplace . Starting later this week on july first , eligible Medicare patients will be able to use the federal program to cover GLP ones with a fifty dollar monthly copay. It's part of a pilot program that will run until the end of twenty twenty seven. This podcast is supported by Dell .
