You are listening to Miss Apex podcast. We live at one . Welcome to Miss Spena P podankcsast. I'm your host Richard Ready, but my friend Scorney Spanner. So let's be friends . We are previewing and making predictions about the British Grand Prix. We don't normally do predictions. Why? Is it because we don't want to be seen to be hypocrites and wrong after the fact? Yes, that's exactly why we don't do it. But we are going to take a little bit of a risk. We'll take that gamble as long as you promise not to listen back to our predictions and see how well we did. We've also got some patron predictions from our discord. You can join that by going to patreon. com forward slash mist apex. We don't have any news or information or analysis because we have no grown ups in the building. Matt Trumpets, as we speak, is wandering around Media Day at Silverstone. Vanjin will be there as well. And I will be joining them on Saturday and Sunday. So if you see us wandering around, do feel free to come and say hi, you cannot bother us. I promise. And as long as you have low expectations of what we'd actually be like to talk to, that's fine. We will see you at the British Grand Prix. I am joined by a semi grown up a Vincenzo Landino. Hello Dino. How's it going buddy? I'm good. I'm good. I like Dino. That sounds I'll give it a try. Sounds like a part of the crew, Dino. Dino. Yeah , I just thought I'd go for the most British go to nickname that Landino would attract. Love it. I love it. Yeah, so I was thinking like maybe saxophone would be kind of cool. Trump . Do you play the saxophone? No. No, I guess that's fine. But it does show that if we lose one American, we just we just bring in another American. The same, right? We all look the same kind of they're like light bulbs. Take one out, stick another one back in. It's the British Grand Prix. Are you going to fight against my premise that this is the greatest ever F one track, venue, event, and layout ? It's your show, so I would typically not fight you on that. But I want you to speak why. I want you to give a reason why . Well, for a start, that the layout, I'm actually terrified of the effect that these new engine regulations are going to have on the layout. Correct . Yeah. So there's been a lot of worrying comments. Some of them you can take seriously, like Verstappen saying, yeah, it's there's nowhere to regen. So he feels like it's a bit. Well, what he was describing was it's a bit skellect really. You're just going to be flat out all the way around. So if you just did it in a low powered car, if you did it in a low powered car that would be fine because you wouldn't have the downforce. So are they actually going to get there on Friday, realize that there's no way to regen power ? What we've got to do is strip down force to get the cars going. So for now, I feel like for now, I just want to I want to ignore that because that's the prospect that that could ruin the greatest ever track is somewhat it's not the tracks fault right that's definitely regul. Weat knowory it's the regulations issue. Yeah. So yeah, I do that. Yeah, but I've been defending the regulations. So what if so now I'm going to have to flip flop sides, which I will just erase . Have you defended the regulations because we had a couple good races? We've had okay. Why I've defended the regulations is because I've been watching since whenever the eighties as a kid and the most frustrating thing has been these cars can't get along side by side because of the arrow. This is the first season really I can remember where they just can. You know, the nineties was awful. The nineties was drudge when it came to like following and not overtaking. And this season you've had races where at, you know, at the start, particularly in the early times, cars can get alongside, they can fight and people have complained about the yoyo racing. My answer is always, would you swap that for the DRS trains that we had in the previous set? What's the phrase six and one half dozen the other? It's kind of the same wings and roundabouts. I don't think it is the same because I've always wanted just like, why can't they just have a go and mix it up and change it? And my attitude at the moment is don't throw the baby out with a bath water . We're getting cars alongside side by side, tweak, test adjust . It's a reasonable direction to have gone in apart from the fifty fifty split, which was dumb. The fifty fifty split, I think most everyone can agree was absolute nine. And it's not it's not after the fact, after the fact as soon as they announced it, everyone went, what are we doing? Yeah, we chassis I think they've nailed they nailed the chassis regulations. That's one thing we know is working like you said, there's the passive. They just have to figure out a way to make it work with power that is does not just disappear as you have to go and regen for a lap or two or whatever it is. It'll be interesting to see how we're going to have practice tomorrow. So yeah, we'll have one wrap. Yeah. One session of practice. I think we'll know immediately and then they'll have no time to do anything about it which is right to a sprint race. So that's not ideal, but yeah, so I think that aside, so that they've gone really like negative straight away The way that these regulations get sold is that we skip fifteen years to the future and the batter just can hold and store and deploy more power. They just got ahead of themselves. And I could have told them that. Why? I'm not in the room, I don't know. So you can't argue the layout itself and the track itself is a very open track. It's an open natural track that doesn't suffer from tilkadromitis . So you know, they made they made all those tilcodroms and they were like, what do we need? Well, we need big long straights and we need these chicanes as well. And then big long straights into big stopping zones. And they kind of maybe lacked a little bit of a flow of a Barcelona or a Hungara ring, but then those tracks became too tight and twisty for modern formula won cars and Silverstone has been sitting in this perfect medium in between the two and I think he's only rivaled by Circuit of the Americas. Okay, I will give you that. Circuit of the Americas is fantastic. Excellent, excellent circuit. Listen, it I'd have to play contrarian just for the sake of playing contrarian . I do agree. I think Silverstone is one of the premier racetracks in the world it's hard to argue with. I mean, it was built for this purpose, right? This is this is what it's made for and you have a little bit of everything. I think it can make anyone happ y, right? With you've got kind of slow speed corners, you've got high speed, you've got kind of medium speed , all the history along with it. So I won't fight you too hard on this. I will have to agree. I think it is a top track on the calendar. I'll fight you're on a technicality though. It wasn't built for F one, it was an airfield. Well, that's really unlikely. It was an air field. Yes, it was an airfield. I'm talking about the circuit itself, not the airfield . Of course, it was built for it was built for combat. It was literally literally built. All right, sunny hay there built for nine. Let's get into some of the patron predictions then. Well, I can have a little bumper for that. Yeah, Mr. Apex from an independent podcast produced in the podcasting shed with the kind support of our patrons and partners. We aim to bring you a race review before your Monday morning commute. We might be wrong, but we're first, even when we're wrong about being first, I'm not changing my tagline just because it isn't true. So we've got some patron predictions here. Okay , Mia says that Lewis wins the sprint Louis wins the Lego race and Louis and Lewis wins the main grand priest. So we do have a return of the Leg o race, Vincenzo. Yes, yes, yes. I'm excited. They expanded it too. So it's no longer two seeders. They're single seeders. There's a roll hoop now. So there's a little bit of protection because they real ized these guys are just gonna smash into each other . So they quite literally built them for combat . Yeah . Right. They did it to this is when , you know, like if the kids have got a thing like all this six seven rubbish and then if the second anyone vaguely middle aged like Vento just there does it, you know it's dead and so it's dead. The Lego thing was this fun they had this idea they couldn't have known or predicted that the drivers were just going to start just wrecking the cars . And what they've done now is gone, how can we make that chaos even more fun? And that's like the Middle Age people have now got involved and I think they've got they are r goingu toin it and kill it. I hope not because I do believe commercially the Lego partnership has been tremendous for Formula One . I can't walk into you guys have is there ? Is there Walmart ? But like an ASDA or a grocery store. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's there's Walmart here I don't go into regularly, but even pharmacies, you know, the drug stores here that have goods will have these g Leo set up. So just the awareness, the fact that they were able to put those into everyone's hands. People show me they'll take pictures and say to friends of mine, look, I bought this for my kid. My kid wanted this and it's an F one car. It's like a hos somethingp.it Theyal don't care. They just think it's cool. And I'm like, all right, this is a good partnership. I think they did a really good job. I hope they don't beat it to death with the parade, but it was very cool. Cool in Miami last year, to your point, it was organic , which was which was why it was so exciting. It's going to be a lot more produced this year. And yeah, this is the thing. Yes, it's like it's that whole silence brand, isn't it? An organic an organic thing happened and then the brand grabs it and goes , Ah, look, the organic thing is our thing now. So I'm just being a pike people, but I'm just saying there's a risk. That happens and that has happened before, but I'll be watching it for sure. When do you know when they do it? Is it on the Sunday? It's pre race at one point yeah at one PM they'll have and they'll be putting it on their YouTube. Yeah, I mean I will treat that as a serious race. I think I might even go I'm going I don't want to give the idea away. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna lie. I'm going to live watch it. Don't don't tell anyone. There are content creators out there whose staff scrape. I know they scrape for my content because I see my ideas that haven't been happened anywhere else. I see it pop up on these one or two outlets. So if don't tell anyone, we're doing if that's you listening, give me this one. I'm going to do a live watch of the Lego race. I suppose the main point there for Emir was basically Lewis Hamilton domination this weekend. Yeah, I mean, listen, this is his this is this is his domain here. This is where he can dominate . We I think most people knew Austria wasn't going to be a strong track for him. And of course, Ferrari just does Ferrari things. So that happens I would I like whoever's prediction that was I like that was Mia. Yeah. I like the optimism. It's just, you know, Ferrari things. I know a lot of I know a lot of you listeners. If you're Lewis fans , you might be new to the Ferrari world . Well, to be honest , I mean the pain is something we're used to. The Tefosa were very welcoming. There's not been any there's not been any real friction. And I tell you what, though , there's no gatekeeping from the Ferrari fans either. They haven't gone, oh you're just the Lewis Ferrari fan or whatever. They've been like, Oh yeah, come on, come on, like, you know, well welcome, welcome, try my radish. I'm in. Which has been really nice. But what they didn't do was give us a like a welcome pack or with the warnings. The first page of the Toposi booklet should have been like warnings and cautions. Yeah, yeah. I think it was one of the first things that I had actually tweeted out or posted out was Hey welcome to the welcome to the club . Just be prepared for a world of pain. And so many people got on me about it. They're like, oh, you're being so negative. And I'm like, no, no , this is how it is . Believe me, there will be pain . A lot of the team regularly. This is where we go this is where we go to cry in this corner here. Yes. This is where we is where we sign contracts that we didn't really realize make us a number two driver for a little bit more money but that,'s you know that's a future topic. So that's flipped, that's flipped. I think that is fully and truly flipped right now. Explain . I think Lewis is the guy. They have realized it very quickly and Charles is being told to either take a backseat or deal, you know, deal I don't because I don't think that they can coexist side by side on track, right? It's they both want like any drivers. This is not just unique to the two of them. Lewis and Charles both want to race. Lewis has shown that he has plenty of pace, there's plenty in the tank. He is not just at Ferrari to coast and ride into the sunset. He's trying to win an eighth championship if this car if they can continue to develop this car , which it seems like they have listened to Lewis a lot more this year for sure, right? Or over the past season building this car , that's something Charles has not done. I don't believe and I'm going to get crucified No Charles Face Yeah, it does it does suddenly feel like why were they also kind of surprised by someone coming in and not surprised, but they seem to have been saying, Oh yeah, those are great ideas and we're implementing them and the factory's really busy and stuff as if it's a new concept. That's been the noise and the vibe I've gotten out of it, which does then suggest maybe because to Italians, it is probably new to the Italians. Remember, the Italians keep everything in house. So it's we only go to ideas within the house, all of a sudden go I mean getting to take a British driver and to finally listen to their ideas that was a big deal. I think a lot of the engineers now that are on the team are because of Lewis, right? So maybe there are some changes being made, but the Italian way is very we're not wrong. We know what we're doing. Dino, I have worked, I've worked in a joint British Italian project. I understand. Are they wrong? I don't know. You know, in Russia where they say I know , in Russia they say but this is a Ferrari or this is the Ferrari way and everything and you sort of don't quite understand it. When I went to Rome and started being doing this joint engineering team and I started understanding that kind of mindset all lovely people but very, different to a British way of doing things. And so yes, I think that probably has shown up a lack of of that kind of input and collaboration from drivers in the past because you know they've had they've had Charles since he was a little baby and, he's not really been anywhere else apart from Salba. I saw one of the patrons, I'm sorry, I don't know who said it, said, Is there a possibility he has quietly signed a number two driver contract for more money? Like here's a lot of money. We like you being here . Charles? Yeah. He's a lot. I think that's what I think that's what that deal was . That's what I'm saying. We want you to be here. You are a great ambassador to this brand . You are loyal. You love this team. You promised your dad, the whole story, the whole emotional story, which hits every Italian right in the fields, but let's be real. You've been here, nothing's happened. Yes, you had a shot at one point with the minute Carlo kind of , right, right early on in twenty two, but that faded away . Carlos Seins shows up and there was this, you know, constant battling back and forth. Well, what do you think is going to happen with Lewis Hamilton? So I think in order to what they wanted out of Lewis , keep him happy and prove that he can can do this in a Ferrari. They want to make he aven so to him in a Ferrari is would be huge. Yeah, to be clear, when I was saying a lot of accepts a lot of money to be a number two, I was talking about Leclerc. I was not talking about Hamilton. Because I was a bit surprised. I was genuinely surprised when the new contract this year was announced. So you signed a new contract this year for a lot of money making the Ferrari wage bill the highest on the grid by some way. And then you see that sudden drop off the cliff developing away from him or it seems like. And you do have to wonder like if he got offered that piece if they said look we are offering you a new contract Charles. We are we are because we love you stay here. It's project Hamilton at the moment for the next two years. He's old. He's going to go out the window, but you've got this contract and this money locked in and you're going to take over . Yeah. Compared. If you're if you're I can imagine them offering that contract because commercially it makes sense as well plus you know he can pedal fine and if your child 's a clerk though, what makes you take that? That you go home to your dog and your wife and you say this is the reality now of my offer from Ferrari. What's the maths on that? I mean, I'm not trying to put what's the maths on that . The math is what is your what's truly your other option. It doesn't look like red bull has, although that might even change, but doesn't look like Red Bull has a you're not going to want to go and be max is number two. So that's not really an opt ion . Looks like McLaren as of right now is all set . Do you want to be Kimmy's number two in at Mercedes? So what's your other option? Like you're not going to go there. Oh so Carloss S isin like a cautionary tale almost of the Oh yeah, I'm leaving home. I'm gonna leave home and make my fortune and then you're left. I think Carlos went the wrong direction with Williams. He should have gone to Audi like his father had pushed him to, but no one ever listens to their father, so that's understandable. On either of those options is going to be challenging . I think it would have been he would have been more probably part of that process and they look to be a little stronger , whatever. Yeah, yeah, regardless of the point being Charles once another option. Once you leave that that top four team, it's very it's rare that that decision pays pays off. So everyone Yeah, everyone's looking for Lewis. What are you gonna do? You're gonna hang out at Alpine. Well, the Hamilton one is the one everyone always points to, isn't it? The twenty thirteen move. And are you going to be that transfer and develop a team with a team ? I don't think he's that guy . Yeah . I don't think he's that guy. I don't think he's that guy that you and with when signs and Leclerc were together on the team , it never seemed like it, right? Carlos is pushing the engineers. He's making race calls and Charles is asking questions . Yeah, so yeah, I think anyway. On balance, Leclerc wins that battle between the two of them, but to see the golf in points and momentum and performance and pace at the moment is alarming and it may be manufactured that way. And what if they've even said whatever happens we can't afford to keep Lewis past twenty eight anyway. So bear with us. We win that title in twenty seven. They might even say if Lewis wins the twenty twenty six or seven, he's he's told us he's gone. So you're here already with a big fat check. And also, I go home with that kind of offer. I know what my wife says to me. Yeah. Oh , you don't want to be a number two. Oh boo hoo I'm spanners. I need to be the best one blah blah blah blah take the money We're having a kid we're doing the job so there is kind of different pressures on there and you do have to think about your future as well. He definitely thinks yeah he thinks about that for sure. All right , so does that mean that we get a Lewis Hamilton dominated weekend? I don't know to go back to that. I'm not saying I'm not saying I'm not seeing it. The Florida Aerodynamically good. I think the only way I see Ferrar doing well is if the teams get to get there and realize oh we've got no power . All of them have got no power we need to start stripping off wing for performance then maybe that the arrow efficiency or the aero goodness of the Ferrari comes into play , but if it's just an out and out who's got the best internal combustion engine, which it sounds like it's going to be, then they're out of it. Maybe we get who's oh, I think Red Sod Bulls the Red Bull then. As much as they protest , they probably know they do have a good internal combustion engine. I think you have Red Bull and obviously Mercedes has not shown other Mercedes the only thing you have with Mercedes is their reliability. We know there have issues up and down the grid with the Mercedes power unit. So that is always something to look out for. But other than that potential, it's got to be Red Bull. Red Bull or Mercedes then. Because Mr. Yeah, mister I think Mercedes have got I think I think Mercedes have got a really good engine. I suspect something Oh no when that duo came out I was like, No, come on , don't be silly. What do you think? What do you suspect? You say , I don't want to do anything, I don't want to say anything legally awkward, but I was just surprised . I was just surprised. Like, I'm saying it is possible for a team . It looks like the way the FIA have tested this to decide the Aduo is definitely gamable. Like I think you could drive a bus through that testing. And we've seen engine testing circumvented before . And you could do something, you could do it valid, like is the test the test or is the test something tangible? So when it came to the compression ratios, really , even though it passed the test, you could probably demonstrate with that compression ratio that they had a compression ratio that was not intended by the regulations . But here there's nothing like that. Here is by the way, we're going to measure your horsepower and how what good internal combustion engine is. And then we'll make a decision on who gets what upgrade tokens or whatever . So maybe it was a little colder in the factory that day. Maybe they were running a little low on power. Maybe that power unit wasn't feeling so good that day. I say. It's amazing to me though that we talk that we have these conversations and think that this is the pinnacle of motor. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport , but they don't know how to test things , you know, consistently across the board . There are so many issues like we're having with the regulation set constantly . Decisions like with the measurement of in Monaco. Oh man, no pit lane. We don't have to go back It's funny we talk about pinnacle of people like isn't it supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport? How can they not figure that out? And I'm like politics. This is the thing people get wrong is that is motorsport isn't the pinnacle of engineering. It's really clever and the team's adapting to a regulation set in Formula One quickly and efficiently within a rul eset is so clever. And there's definitely a lot of interchange between defense industry, aerodynamicists and F one, aerodynamicists and stuff. But Motorsport itself is not an industry leader. It will have the odd will. have It innovations for itself. It will have things that some other industries take . So the fact that your bus doesn't roll backwards down the hill, that was from Williams. That's a Williams flywheel. They invented that, but generally it's a technology user rather than a kind of a builder . And then in that context, the FIA is much less resourced than the teams. So the hunter has got just a little BB gun and they're hunting velociraptors. So the teams are constantly finding ways to circumvent these rules and regulations and this one in particular seems incredibly gameable and when you see a car very very, clearly has the best engine by a mile . It just has obviously, right? That's obviously the best power unit. And then it comes out and goes, No, you get the extra unit. Something, something's gone weird and strange them. So yeah, it's great. And if it's if yeah, whatever. If it's gamable like that, then we're never gonna have a fair. Meckies looks crust forward when they ask him about it, you can tell he's a nice man and he doesn't want to say there's something dodgy going on, but his face like wow, he's doing the same as me. But look, look there so fast. Look, boom look. That doesn't really make sense. It is coming now. We will listen to this . I got mixed up with German and French there, but yeah, yeah, he obviously feels like there's something wrong there as well. He looks absolutely gutted. So and also Ferrari are looking at Mercedes and going, why how come they're getting it? So let's be honest then the two good engines or power units is Mercedes and Red Bull. So Mercedes and Red Bull , they've got to be the favorites. So no, I'm not putting Lewis in contention this weekend unless something dramatic happens. I think I'd be surprised if he's even on the podium to be honest. A podium would be a win. Podium would be a win. I would I would be hard pressed to see him fighting for but again, anything can happen, right? So I just I'm hard pressed to say he's going to be fighting for that win . I do think one of the McLarens probably gets up there probably be a Mercedes and McLaren and Verstappen. That's that would be my prediction if I had to predict. Oh yeah, well, that's it. We forgotten about the McLaren of it all as well. So that you know, they could be a factor there. I'll just go to hanging around, right? I'll go to Craig's Craig's predictions here. Max returned returns to supervill ain status. Max takes both poles, Max wins both races comfortably. Max still Max still complains the car is undriveable. So yes. So he's very hard on his engineers and the car. Well, if there's anything wrong, you should be like that and he seems to have the power in the team and say I've got no issue with him Cot constantly complaining about the car. I never get the impression that that's him making excuses and I do get the impression of that with some drivers like the race isn't going well and it happens too often where the go to is oh this it's not steering the suspension is bad. Athletes will do things to offset their own blame. So my personal one that I do is if I mess up a return in tennis, I immediately I'm like, oh, great serve, that was unplayable. Or yeah, so the other thing you can do is like, the other team, just too fast, too f ate, completely uncatchable . So do we think Max can dominate? To me he has had some quiet races where he's ended up in like P five P six or whatever and the car hasn't been competitive . However, there's always just this looming threat . So I think if any other team or driver had had the results Max has had and then suddenly had that P two in Austria, I would have got I would say, well, you know, that 's probably a one off. Let's see if there's any more data points. Because it's Max and he has he always looks ominous. Like he could attack you at any time . I do think that he's going to be a threat for the British Grand Prix. I would still say no . I would still say the it feels like this has got Mercedes written all over it. Yeah . Yes. Listen, max is always a threat. I don't the chassis like the car is just not there even, if the power unit is , I don't see that entire the entire package is not as of right this second . Max is always a threat regardless. I just I don't see that kind of domination. Again, I'm with you on this one. It's it's Mercedes . It's their weekend to lose. So unless someone drives the car off the track , it's it's either Mercedes one two or Mercedes McLaren, you know, like I said, Max read red bullet at P three . But it's some interchangeable kimmy George situation at the top. Oh, and also that last thing about the supervillain returns a super villain hang on, a minute. I got where was the instruction of one. Let's see. Oh, there it is. There is. Max is not a supervillain. He is a good guy. He's one of the good guys. And if I was this what you Brits have to do? Yeah, yes, you get a little letter through the with instructions. Is this you get this in like in the post yeah if you're British if you have okay yeah yeah yeah that as Americans we can say whatever we want. If you're British remove this tab and you're like this tab okay . Yeah, Max is in fact the nicest and best and everyone should be like Max and be a Max fan I don't think Max returns to supervillain status because he's not anywhere near fighting for the championship. So what are we like even if he wins the race , what do we care? Fair that would we care he's more dangerous if he thinks he's out of it than if he thinks he's in it would I would agree because then he's defeated yeah that would, but mean I, l heisten he, drove Lewis pretty hard last week, right? They were they were fighting like they kind of used to fight. He brought back some memories . But sorry , hang on sorry. There is a tab for this as well. There's a tap for this one as well . All the moves were clean, hard racing, nothing wrong with that. If you disagree, you're soft. Okay, so I can put that back in the drawer now. It was who tweeted that sounds like you read a tweet directly directly . Let's see that so I think we saw no supervillain status. No supervillain status. I'm off the supervillain thing. Danny, I like this one. Antonelli wins the race with a grand slam. George and Max have a controversial collision. So let's concentrate on Antonelli. So in the last race , I think he had some bad luck on the poll like the more I think about that poll, the qualifying, the more he kind of got robbed at a chance of a front row because it's a unique situation. It's a completely understandable error if we even count it as an error than thinking it was a single or a double. I've had Marshalls message me saying that's never a double waved yellow situation because there's not a car on track. I've had Marshall say that's a car in the firing line. That's obviously a double waved yellow. Yeah, same thing. Yeah. I've had a mix of Martial there was a very mixed thought on that. Yeah. So he's on I think it was understandable quote unquote mistake to go, well, that's obviously a double wave yellow. So you look at the yellowness and you go that that's the lap done because we're not we're not having this. So you know, and also Max like benefited from that in the end didn't he as well because he probably qualified higher than he might have done. Sure. I thought I thought it was a Ferrari one too. I was very no but put it this way. Let's say that the both Mercedes had done the same thing, then you'd have had a Mercedes front row. So I think he is unlucky to have been separated from his teammate so much in that battle Antonelli and then he's had to fight back. He did look like the strongest of the three drivers on race pace . So to say can he come back to Silverton and kind of resume the form before Barcelona doesn't feel ultimately controversial in Barcelona , he had already take overtaken George Russell wasn't going to catch Hamilton that day. But yeah, yeah, I think I think we can't don't think we can take too much from the last race in terms of predictions. I would still go, I don't know what a grand slam is. What's a grand slam? Is it leading every session, poll, and it's every session, poll every lap? So completely completely arbitrary doesn't mean anything. That would be domination. It would be domination . That would be utter domination. And I don't see that happening either. You think there's too many contenders . He'd have too many Yeah. He'd have to have a sprint pole, sprint win, normal pole , no win. That is a big ask . Yeah, but I think the double the double and here's another thing he doesn't start that well. So leading every lap is an issue with as well. So he doesn't start well at all. Can we talk abouted last week's start for second a? Yeah, good . Somebody said this early in the season that Kimmy does not know how to drive when he's next to a car. And I thought, there's he's young . If you watch him get go side by side wheel to wheel ever it looks like he has completely lost the ability and I love the kid. I want him to succeed . It looks like he has no idea what he's doing half the time. I mean, he was driving. I'm surprised he didn't get a penalty in that first lap track limits. I mean he should have he was off the track three or four times Yeah, I think what we didn't make enough really, I don't think anyone did of the fact that that was a result of being not very good at whatever he was trying to do. There was he said there was a slight break in balance issue , but it does also continue the trend of what we've seen. I mean, again, what we could probably go down an entire do it like what we're not we're not shearing sheep here, mate. We can blame the car. Is it is it enough to just say, oh, it's the car's fault. Like how you're a professional driver being paid millions of dollars at what point do you have to take responsibility for the actions ? Well, yeah, and it depends like what you want to do with your PR. I always go to the Logan Sergeant one because it's the it's the clearest example of this where he was having off after off after off and after every race James Bales would go Oh, yes we had, a wing problem . Ah, no the jibler in the and then he just ran out of parts to name and then just start going problem. And you go at what point do you go it's the driver this time with that very specific break issue, I am more minded to kind of go, well , you know, I'd have to see more of that. Yeah. And I'll give it to Kimmy, right? He is talented. So it's hard to maybe criticize him too harsh. Season two. Oh my god. So if we look at the top trump rating, you know, you go race pace ten , retire management nine, ten , maybe getting off the line five, as in he's got very there's a high possibility of him not getting off the line well. And then in that pack we say, well at the moment he's like a three or four because we've seen him lose places one a lot of the time. So Grand Slam gone off off, the table, but two wins, a sprint win and a grandpri win very possible because he's having to do a lot of overtaking is actually the point even on that streak of winds. Correct. Yeah, he's having to do a lot of and grant stim would also mean he's he has to lead every lap, which I think that would mean he'd have to get far enough out ahead to be able to pit without an issue because I think even just with pitting he would lose . So I don't think it were going to be that far apart at least for the first stint of the race, right? I don't think he's going to just drive off by a mile . I don't see and again, we that talked about earlier with the cars. We don't even know what the cars are gonna do. All these predictions could be completely false. Wrong. We this is why we're making them. Please don't be so slow that they don't even have to like touch the brakes or anything because that feels like I was I was talking to someone today and so this is one of one of the coaches at the tennis place I go to and say where are they going to regener the battery? That's the first thing not hello, not good morning, not how's your forehand first thing was where, they are gonna rejen? I'm like, well, turn three is kind of a big stopping zone, I guess, 'cause they swing around Abbey and then you go into I think is it village or farm? Turn three . Abbey farm, village loop. Oh , the left hand is farm the village. So village you're going to hit the brakes, then you're not really getting much speed up before you go to the loop anyway. So that's not a big breaking zone . Really? And then as you go into Brooklyn and Loughfield, their brushes of the brake as well. They're relatively small , relatively small the rest of the track, you're really not on your brakes. No, you don't know, maybe, but it's not enough to regenerate Stow. Stow is just a is again, it's probably a low percentage of the break and then you just getting the weight down on the outside left. Right. And then you're out really. And then you got club or veil, whichever would explained to me. Oh now I know that don't worry, I'll forget the order. I always forget the order of those two. And then that's it. You're back into Abbey again. So that was my answer for him. I think village where do they reach? Village for a bit and then that's it. But that's if that's and it's not big enough, it's not enough to really truly regen, right? I don't know. What is how long do they have to be on their brakes to truly regen? Great question. Matt tells me normally. He's not here. He's at Silverstone. I don't know the answer to that. So it is a big enough, like it's a proper they'll be breaking down like coming down like four or five gears . So they are stopping for a long time, but that's probably not enough to get you all the way to Vale, club Vale. what we so answerly glanced something I'm worried for maggots and beckets like what is that going to look like? What will because you're going to come out of cops and then you are you is it going to be like is going to are they going to suit are they going to be clipping the entire way through Maggie's impact? I don't know. It could effectively make it a straight, couldn't it? That's the issue. Yeah. So George and Max have a controversial collision. That was Danny's that was Danny's other one. I don't ever want to wish collisions and crashes because they can result in injuries and stuff. But with the caveat that I hope everybody gets home, if you're going to have a collision , I would choose Verstappen and Russell to have that to continue any kind of beef they've got and I would like it to have if it could be Max's fault preferably if he could do it on purpose that was part of your British is that part of your I'm always thinking of like what would Erk Russell the most in that situation and get that beef going again? Wow, if you breathe too closely to him, he'll probably get upset, so my God. Right. I was at my kid's sports day . I was at my kids sports day and I accidentally started an F one argument. One of the young ladies was a Verstappen fan and I'm like, why? Hamilton all the way and then we had a Norris fan and someone. And big debate just like went out. And then I can't remember why Russell came up, but then everyone was like, Oh yeah, well at least we all don't like. And I was like, oh, wow, okay, that's a really, you know, to see these to see these ladies unite against George Russell at random sports day. I went, oh, I didn't realize it extended this far. Poor George. So do we really need Max to be a villain? We have one. George Russell. No, he's not a villain though. He's trying to be the good guy so much. Well, what you're trying to do intention doesn't necessarily dictate outcome. I think George Russell would want to be shining white knight. You call it all American hero, but our version is like, you know, we don't really have a version like knights. Yeah, like a knight on a steed, a knight in shining armor, steed . That is how Steed, right? That's how he sees himself and would want this my guess. And he would want to be just, you know, like Jensen Barton basically. He'd want to be Jensen Button. Nobody hated Jensen Button. No one did. There was no Jensen Button hate. He was revered, he was a darling of the TV cameras and crews. That's what George Ben also won a fluke championship, which George would be very happy. George would be very happy with a fluke championship. No, I'm not having fluke championship. I'm not happy. But I'm not having that. He's if you get the best car, you beat your teammate, that is a perfectly valid championship . There was no fluke against Barricello. He was the he bested Baricello and then held off the charge from Veto. I think he was probably lucky. No, can you see can you, see the wing behind me? The end plate ? No, to describe it? It's from the Bar Honda. Is it Barica? It's signed by Benson Amberkello. The BAR Honda so the two thousand seven BAR It was oh seven, yeah. Yeah. Do they know you have it? It was given to me by one of the sponsors, the sponsors please. Well, you're a marketing guy so you just get stuck. So someone knows I have it, yes . This is you're not confessing to a crime. No, no, no crime. I will say that if Vetal was a bit more experienced or maybe there was an alonzo in that red bull, maybe there. Yeah. I won't I won't have it a fluke. I won't have it called a fluke. All right because I will take back the floor I will take back the use of the word fluke because then we've got to get we've got to assign a bunch of other championships flukes as well. I completely agree there. And's probably probably we can do an entire episode on Fluke Champions? Yes. No, no, I've already noticed I've already noticed that hang on. Don't make me get out the Lando Norris notepad and rip off tabs for that one I'm opposite the Lando Norris Stand for the weekend as well. So I'm looking forward to seeing that. And there's a lot of Norris fans in the UK. I have no hate towards anybody. I'm just making taking the piss is that what you guys say? Yeah, not on a podcast, not on a family friendly podcast. We don't say that. Vincento, you wash your mouth out with whatever the equivalent of whatever the Italian in Britain, our parents would say go and wash your mouth out with soap and water. You have to go and do that. Yeah, that's what we would wash your mouth with soap, stick a bar of soap in my mouth. No, it's fine. It's very hardly a thing, hardly a thing. So yeah, so why that has not been translated because really on paper Russell has all those factors . I have had a lot of people guessing because I was saying, where does my irrational not liking of George Russell come from? Because I just don't know. I really don't know and I can't justify it. But I know who was it there was a US Supreme Court thing where they were trying to define pornography. They said, well, I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it that and was that was that yeah. So I don't know why I feel it but I know it when I do feel it. So there's some suggestions that there is quite a class thing in the UK. I don't know how much you sort of be aware of that . And so there is that kind of posh upper class schoolboy kind of vibe. And there's also someone pointed out to me that it's much more exaggerated in the military . So he said, Oh, this is and this was an RFAM . He said , Could it be that he reminds you of the officer class, which I have openly said I had problems with when I was in the Army? And I went, Ha , there is that same air. And it's probably because they went to the same kind of schools and went to the same kind of clubs. He has an heir of a young British Army officer . And for me personally , that might be why something's like me has kind of self. He seems too proper by the book. Like every, you know, again, he's, I think the nickname, the PR sixty three nickname is warranted. I've never heard that. That's genius . Did you make that up? I . you If've never heard of it, I'll take it . I'll take credit for it. Sure I you know, it's listen, stereotypes sometimes exists for reasons. And the PR sixty three one, I think, exists because of the way he comes across. It's it's just like it's slightly too proper, right? There's plenty of other British drivers that are not as hated. Hated's not the worst. No, no, I don't think Russell is hated. I just like you said, it's the air of arrogance , proper like you're just a little bit better than the rest of us kind of thing. Even though we all make hundreds of millions of dollars. Yeah I, was going say to like, oh, what do you think you're better than me because you're a professional F one driver? I mean, because that's valid. He wins that. Oh, because you've got like a great physique. I mean, that's also valid. Tall and rich and handsome and successful in a lot of ways valid. In a lot of ways, George Russell is I reluctantly will admit George Russell is better than me in a lot of ways. But all the drivers are like, I mean, they're all good looking and have beautiful partners and have all yachts and all the money in the world, right? They all have that . The way they present themselves though seems a lot more even I won't say Max they all just have a more approachable personality. You don't know them personally. If you look at Max's streams when he's at home, he's very and yeah and I've heard very good things about Max through friends of his that are acquainted with some folks I know that very gracious, very helpful. Like I don't know, I just never hear those stories about George. Do you ? Oh man, Dylan in the chat says, Oh, so Russell is the anti spanners then. Cheers, buddy. So not successful, not a good physique, not tall and dashing. Cheers . Thank you very much for that. Craig, yes, you were mentioned on the pod. That's correct. Yeah, no , there's a few people there just agreeing with that kind of general. That's the demeanor that puts off that might not be playing well. PR sixty three I'm going to soften. I will soften now I've kind of identified what it is. I'm going to try and take Russell's actions and comments more for what they are and not for what they trigger inside of me from like a past past from memories and stuff. So yeah, I don't read. I don't think he's doing it purposefully. I think it's just who he is and it's like you either enjoy being around that. So I'm going to read I'm going to reset and I'll go fresh again. That said, I still want this collision, Danny. Still want this George versus Max Controversy to continue with great. Joey, who's the worst, thank you for your support, says , ugh , no bricks drivers on the Grand Prix podium . We had three in Barcelona. We had three. I was so proud. Fine with me. It was so good. I didn't I not even, I'm not even like that. I'm not even like a big flag guy or whatever, but with the three lads on the podium Take it, Spain, you lovely people who are very supportive of all those drivers all weekend. Take that. That wouldn't be a bad podium though, 'cause it would be what Leclerc Pias Triver Staffin, that would be fine. If that's great. Well, Antonelli surely. Oh, Antonelli . They are coming. They're going to come for you. You're going to lose your Italian card here. You know, right. So even Antonelli, Piestri Verstabin Antonelli, Leclerc, Piasre or something of those likely non British podium has to be Antonelle Verstappen and then who we have him? No, I don't think Leclerc because I think he'll be behind Hamilton. I don't think I don't think the Ferrari is a piasri. So it would have to be Piastri, who's unreasonable format actually at the moment? Or maybe or maybe like a shock alpine situation with Gazley? Hm think about it if all three of those British drivers are not on the podium. Something has happened, right? There's either a collision, there's something, which means there it would be very flukey, and that's where I think Gazley would so we're going to have a chaos race in some way if you're telling me there's not there will be three British drivers not on the podium, you're telling me that all three of those drivers are going to finish four, fifty, six or out of the points . I think the only way that happens if there is some sort of chaos . There's so many British drivers on the grid this year. I'm actually having to look up which ones we've got. Ali Beermann. Oh Behmman. So Behman's not a factor. I count Albon as British. Albon Ty Britain. I count Albon as British because of how British he is. So that's why I don't care how the TV crews get themselves in a in a tiz. It's I've got other, I've got other flags that I could represent as well, but that wouldn't make me any less British. Everyone's really super weird about that. So he's not a factor because the Williams ain't getting close . Berman's not getting close to a podium . So we're talking about Norris, well Lynn Blad as well would Yeah, okay, I don't. Although they've been on they've been on form. They've been somewhat best of the rest ish. They've been in contention for best of the rest. Yeah, they've been on form. But that massive fluke or chaos would have to happened for that. Right Okay, that's good. That's a good, that's a good thing. I'm not running out of time because we don't have time. I'm running out of time sadly because me and my wife share a Zoom account and she needs it to go and teach piano . That's the realities of a home studio. I know Vincenzo's in a similar position to me as well. So but if you want to have two zoom accounts, patreon. com, forward slash Mistapex, it used to be a rare clash but, now that we do our previews on a Thursday, we're going to have to look into something like that. It's only like a couple hundred bucks. If you like listening to this guy every week , I hope you do. I hope you do. Because by the way, thank you to everybody who's sent nice messages, loads of nice messages on the content recently. I'm going to be completely honest with you guys. The last eleven, twelve days since Barcelona, I feel like the internet has just been sticking the boot in, it has been intense out there in Internetland. And I'm standing there with my little like my my forced field of patrons and listeners as this torrent has come it's not like, Oh yeah, crying myself to sleep, but it is like whoo, blind me. This being a content creator thing is like yeah so yeah I've really appreciated it like if you notice a thing you like it or just you know a little bit of hey, nice one m,ate or wh atever nice reviews. That really helps. It just makes that shield just a little bit thicker while the skin underneath thickens up. But I tell you what, you'll probably know this as a marketing guy. When I do get those periods where we get a massive incre ase in what I will unreservedly call online abuse . The figures go up. Like we do that does correlate with like the audience increasing, download numbers going up and patreon stuff going up. So whilst I'm like, this stuff's coming in and you're like, Oh no, but yay, oh no. Why would you say that? Yay. I'm not that fat. Yay. You know, there's this back and forth of stuff . So thank you, Dylan there for your nice comment . And let's do some quick fire then to get out of here. Quick fire predictions. So give I want your quick answer there. Quick answer coming in. Max says the car is undrivable, agree or disag ree. You agree. Louis says this is crazy. Louis says he doesn't have power . Of course . Yeah. Yes. I do believe him. John Laferari, I believe him, yes. George explains why someone else should have a penalty ? No, I don't believe him sixty three . That is why that might be part of the reason why yeah. If you were his PR, you go, stop doing this snitching thing. Just stop just the thing is he's immediately on the radio to like let me put this out there so that everyone hears this. It's it's the whole like be first not necessarily right . Yeah, I could we can't relate Dad had to put the wrong but first bumper up sorry. Let's say yeah yeah George Pree examines why his own illegal move was actually fine. That's along the same lines. Charles makes sad noises but it,'s more fac es when he turns up to the interview to the to the press. Noises, faces, whatever it is, yes, there will be groaning. Well, no, it's the sigh of the first. So Charles, you know, another really bad day out there, can you explain why you're slower than your much older teammate? And the first thing is why it's like you know at least and everyone feels back to the factory to talk . Oh I know understand. I don't know why happened . But he's so likeable. Like be happy, please be happy . Why can't we have a world where the clerk's happy in some way ? You picked the wrong team to be loyal to. Curses. Let's see, the Lego race becomes the new triple crown that's Dimitri. Dimitri says it becomes Alonso's greatest race ever. Oh, I meant to say earlier, when Verstappen was talking about the Silverston in the Simulator being worse or he's laughed about it whatever. I take that seriously from him. When Alonzo said, Oh, this is terrible, the simulator was horrible. But because he's just had this wall of complaints year and beyond , I would disregard any criticism that he makes at the moment because overall, his comments are very, very negative, which is understandable. Understandable. Stewart says Carlos and Alex race to the Lego Card. No, they get one each, so that won't happen. They each get one yeah. James Valves will declare a five year plan to put the Lego bricks back together afterwards. That's very funny. I love that. That's fantastic. Hannah predicts she will get very sunburned. I think we've got ten a sunny cloud cover for you arranged in Towchester. Clouds are bad. That means you will get sunburned. Put lots of sunset. Oh, really? Oh, okay. I wouldn't know. Look at my tan. Look at my tan. Do I look like I sunburned? No I look good. Hey, man, I mean, normally I'm not taking the compliment. I just, I'm pretty pleased with the tan. No holiday. No nothing. Looks fantastic. I'm just a mat and out I'm an outdoorsman. That's why. That's why I've got the tan. Smash robot. Has broken our realish names policy, by the way, please have a realish name thing in the discord. Smash robot. McLaren turn up with a hideous special livery to celebrate some random achievement or date . So they do have a special livery have you seen it? Have you seen it? I thought it was quite nice. No, it is nice. It is nice, it is nice. It nearly strays into the issue of looking predominantly a different color from the front or the back, but not quite. That's my big number one requirement with race car liveries. They have to look predominantly the same color from most angles. So if it's the blue car it has to be the blue car from every angle. I hate it when like the Audi or the When you 're in the Cadillac? Yeah, even the Cadillac. But have you seen the Cadillac Big USA ? Independence Day. So Independence Day is a big deal in America. Like is it like a Christmas level event or I mean, it's, you know, it's a big deal. Fourth of July is a big deal around here. People like to celebrate with shooting guns off into the air, fireworks, beers, hot dogs. Okay, so it's a big old family day. Is it always the same day or is it the nearest Sunday to whatever? No, it's always the fourth of July . I feel like I should have known that I'm actually embarrassed. I feel like I shouldn't know that's okay. It's probably a very sad day for Brits. We I promise you, it does not cross our minds at all. Whenever like kids, don't you remember when we lost the Americas? It's like fine. People can just do what they want to do. Just like fine. And here's the funny, here's the funny funny thing, America, Vincenzo. Have you seen the livery? I have. Yeah, the front one, what is the front wing? What exactly is the color scheme of that front wing? Is it fifth oh hold on and maybe I haven't seen it then? It is exactly the French flight . It is exactly the French flag. I thought it was blue. I thought it was blue with white super look at the front wing. There's three things on the front wing and it is exactly the French flag. I may have missed it, so that's very possible. Looking up and what is the Oh, that is fantastic. Well, what's the notable thing about your independence, wasn't it? It was that it was basically French. The French, I mean, without the French, it wouldn't have happened. The French funded it despite my friend. Despite wow, despite the British. So I wanna know des, perately want to know if that was accidental or on purpose. Oh, that is one hundred percent on purpose. Could it be, hasn't it? And the fact that it's at Silverstone and you're putting the French flag on the nose like that's I have just changed my mind. That's I love this even more. Yeah, no, I like that it's a good racing livery. It's a good racing livery . An absolutely amazing troll job by the Cadillac team. Yeah, if that's on purpose, which I sincerely hope it is an attack a thousand percent. An attack at my nation. I'm not mad because that is a good, that is a good deal. That is good . And also I did not see that until you just mentioned it. Yeah. I spotted it and went, that's the French flag. Now that's God all, 'cause you guys you're not aware of . So you know your flag ? Other countries have their own color schemes and patterns and they also have a flag . So I had only realized there was the blue with the fifty stars. I didn't even look at the entire image the way that is good. Yeah, that's good. And yes, I took I got your joke. Thank you. Haha . I'm aware of other flags. Thank you very much so America Hell yeah . So I fly the Italian flag. I yes , I know they have a flag too . Oh man, that's good. And also I, don't love them. Wearing a union jack somewhere earlier on a piece of clothing. Oh, you weren't because you're not a ship, so therefore you were what did you just say? The union flag? Well, the union jack? Union jack? No, you're not ship so it was the union flag. Wait a minute. It's only the union that's only it the union jack when it's on a ship. Really? I didn't know that. Yeah, there you go. So it's only the Union Jack on a ship. Yep. It is the Union flag anywhere else. Technically they tried to write that because it's difficultchn.ically Te they tried to write that out of existence, but that's that is what it is. So yeah, because there are even Brits that I know, my good friends that talk about the Union Jack . Yep, that's right. They're there and had no idea they're all morons. They're all morons. I think that is it for the prediction show. Thank you very much to the patrons of Vincenzo. Where can people follow you? At Vincenzel Antino on Twitter, Instagram. Oh yeah, and every body. That's one of those names though. Everyone's not gonna be instinctively know how to spell that. 'Cause let's be honest, it's a bit exotic. It's a bit like out there. It could be of speed dot com How about that? Yeah. Yeah we go f Sp E D OB O you mean the thing that like is your main thrust in motorsport. Follow that thing. Yeah, that makes me follow that follow that thing instead of just me trying to guess the spelling of an Italian name. Okay, good. My good We',ll we get' therell get there. . Well done. Excellent. Thank you so much for short notice as well. Dropping in and joining us. Follow me of course Spanners. Obviously, I'm clearly the best one. I'm the only one that's irreplaceable apart from John a replacement, didn't you last week? And he did a good job, and he got good feedback. Could we not give good feedback to the substitute hosts, please? It hurts my feelings. Until we see you next, work hard , be kind and have fun . This was Miss Day Hent podcast
