I'm your host, Richard Reedady, but my friends call me spaners. So let's be friends. Welcome to our British Grand Prix race review as we come to you from Ps Unknown. Yes, we are in a little barn somewhere near Silverston and we will be giving you our thoughts with a certain amount of cross talking because I do have my panel with me. We've had a wonderful day hosted by the pop up Hotel and we've been right there on the Hang of Straight watching cars go down into stow and there has been a lot of action all weekend. So let's get straight into introducing our panel. So we are here with Matt Tets Hello Matt. Oh, Ill have to unmute you try again Hello there spanners. a hack of a day and a hack of a weekend. 're also joined by Geie Alex, Geievanine. Hello Alex. Hello spanners and what an absolute awesome weekend it has been just to be around the paddock Soaking in the absolutely electric atmosphere the British public have and all the other countries that come for this Grand Prix has been absolutely phenomenal. Okay, but we do it best. We have to be absolutely clear that we are doing it way better than any other country and everyone should come here and there should be four Grand Prix a year at Silverston do have the most amount of drivers And other countries have like two grand Prix. America's got like twelve of them. and they don't have any drivers. So we should at least have six of the grandberries No, I absolutely agree. And look you can see here in the shot we're all sat together. For once look, we can physically touch each other, we can high five but we shouldn't. I think the big thing that everyone really needs to know, the big takeaway is that we are an independent podcast produced in the podcasting ched. With the kind support of our patrons and partners, we aim to bring you a race review before yourour Monday morning commute We might be wrong But we are reaching for our keypads to make sure that we can say that we are first ind of a professional, nearly right Brilliant I can't promise you're not going toar me huffing and puffing throughout this thing. I normally have a mute button I control Banners can't bring his house to Yes, but I could have edited the audio without having to deal with that. We're not like. Obviously the big water cooler moment is the safety car. So I think we start there and then I think we go into what the Antonlli battle with George Russell, George Russell versus the universe, but starting with that safety car To me, obviously it's a big trigger point We know that when safety cars come out, the first thing I will tweet absolutely will be We know for a fact, you can never, ever, ever finish under a safety car. and yet today We did to act Am I just going to be called Hamphosy, weirdo conspiracy theorist triggered by that and go why on earth did that finish under a safety car We had a chat with people on the bus on the way back on the bus on the way back to the car park. We had a conversation with them on the bus. It's like there was a whole bunch of us entirely triggered and traumatized by twenty' twenty one I mean, the whole thing was was obviously after the race was like there's like five laps the race left and Samers was like, I'm going to get back to the house to do my the Ring of poogle the Ringish the Ringish show because nothing else is going to happen now. go. He left four seconds after he left, Max put it into the rvel. phone and spatteratter ag go. you need to come back. Max put it in the gravel and there's a safety car And he sprinted back in And yeah, and it was like, awesome. We're going to get a couple of ups racing. It doesn't matter that Lis has lost to. position to George because George didn't change his tyres and Lewis was on brand new softs. so he go straight past.' exactly what George thought was going to happen and then Nothing. So what you guys told me before we recorded is we now know why the safety card didn't come in and it's going to upset you. So do you want to tell me now Yeah. So there is actually rules about the safety car now. They may have been different back then, but the rule now is Can't you have to have a full lap afterfter the laaped cars, the last laap car passes the leader Guess what didn't happen before they got to the start finish or what they call the timing line Oh my Godd, tell who was the last car? And we're not the last car. We're talking millimeters But it was enough for them. And that's why you the last comment Who was the last car? know. Could it have been Alonzo or stroll possibly? I don't know. I think the Asens were dead at the back the whole race. If it's Alonzo, one hundred percent that's deliberate. What after Alonzo tried to do a Brad pit move at the beginning of the race Oh yeah, he decided to stop. he stopped. he fullyopped and try to stop side the road to make sure everyone else's ties got cool because he thought he then might win the race but then realize he's' arrsted. Yeah. So are we saying that Louis Hambleton didn't have a chance to go for second place or even first place because Alonso didn't overtake the leader as a lapt car before getting to the the lastap L lap car didn't make it past the leader before they got to the start finish line of the next to last lap. Therefore, they couldn't bring the safety car in. whatever. they couldn't have that last lap Was it Alonzso I don't know because I wasn't paying. I didn't know that at the time we were when we watched it But I know that now and we can go look it up later. So it's fine. Okay in my mind, it is just aonz. It's to beumb I think I think lean into that feeling and this is going to be a vbecast as much as a podcast. Y, obviously twenty twenty one still looms large Like why wasn't Ferrari on the pit wall going? We just need one more racing lap. Come on, we just need one more. Apparently they were on the blower saying want another racing lap because our tyres are cold.eg dangerouseg Allegedly neither Ferrari nor Mercedes was particularly keen for actual racing to happen in this circumstance. So the thing that I was most interested in was what Lewis was going to say in the press conference afterwards. I was expecting him to go, Oh, so when I need an opportunity, I was expecting I was expecting a lot of U annoyance from Lewis, but Lewis was actually fine I think he was more disappointed himself because He was slower than Charles today so didn't deserve to beat. Charl and probably actually didn't deserve the podium either So he was just happy to be there. Yeah, I think I think when you know you don't have the pace and you wind up on the podium anyway, you're like, okay, like it could have been so much worse. And we do know that there was at the time that threat of the penalty hanging over his head And that's exactly And George had the exact same feeling. So we had such a we had a very meh podium because George was like I don't deserve to be here But I'll take it. Yeah What's the reduction in the championship points now, Matt? Oh go on. whyy don't we do that then, Matt? You had worked it all out. I had worked it all out and not written it down. No it was twenty five points uprave. was one seven nine to one, fif four Antonelli to Russell. And then Lewis would be one four something on for eight, ten four ten points or something else behind. So it's gone from Titles gone. George hasn't got a hope in hell because he's over sixty points behind Yeah to it one race win So it is now championship well and truly back on because of the poor reliability of the Mercedes and where you've got the case of we just saw some of the footage of Kimmy's car And what happened on Kimy's car was he went over a curb, as he goes over a curb, the Was it called M cover The wheels snapped on Kimy's car and that's why put Kimy not out of the race but out of the race. Yeah. and this is one of these weird little reliability things where you could probably have done that a thousand times And one time it breaks like that. Now it's a problem for the Mercedes engineers and they're going to have to deal with it. the curbs and the vibrations. never insignificant at the speeds they run, even if the curbs themselves seem fairly benign. This feels a bit like I want to say two thousand four when McLaren had the outright fastest car by absolutely miles but couldn't win the championship because the car kept breaking. Well, yeah, this is the thing, Mercedes are very uncharacterististically, I would say, or mostly say has opened the door to Ferrari and Lewis being unreliable. That's a very odd and strange thing for them as a team. Usually that is their wheelhouse. And that driver in two thousand four who? could have won the worldor Championship was Kimmy Richken. Oh. So another Kimy then. It all makes sense. or twenty twelve when McLaren were very, very fast, but also very relliable. Oh, that was the years of Sam Michael, yeah. wow. Sorry, we've gone we've wandered quite down the tangent there did provide Okay, so what was interesting to me about this? I don't know how you feel about this is someone who's a driver. We saw Antonelli go from I have no hope to the team saying I have no hope and Antonlli going, I don't carere. I go anyway to it all being ruined by a safety car and a penalty for off tracks And then You were going to see what he was going to do with that. and then we couldn't even see that. So it was an interesting roller coaster emotional journey with the young driver, Kemmy Anton Nully. Because the problem you've got, if you've got a car that's broken and not performing the way that you want it Right You are and you areunt, you have no hope of any points at all. You're like just There's there's no point. I'm going to risk damaging the carm, getting penalties and all this kind of Sve the engine. We saw must do that back in the day. Lots of times back in the day But I think what he found was he was tenth and he was still seven tenths of a second faster than Colalaminto with basically a wheel coming off the ground. Um And so he was like, okay, well I can hang on for a point because He's seen this championship and that every single point is going to make a difference until he then got so many off tracks and then got very upset about the penalty for the off tracks because they weren't my fault. It wasn't my fault. The car was broken. Bono is very much like, yeah, but Rules are the rules mate and tough. Yeah, you can't say I wasn't trying to when when you're doing off track. So my big argument here is I think we had a similar thing with Lewis last season as well Aw Was it in Singapore? we were driving a car cutting all the chanes. And Alono was going absolutely spare about it. But yeah, here, I think if your car isn't working, then you have to accept, well, my car isn't working. And so you know you've driven with bent steering in ye racing, which I assume is exactly the same as a Formula One car. and you kind of know, huh and in occult and in the car as well. Yeah, orr sometimes you get in a car and it just the chassis bent and so it steers more one way than the other. It is still your responsibility to go, I need to try and break for the corners. If you're going Okay, I'm going to try and take every corner as fast as possible with my broken car and you keep going off or keep shortcutting, then what you're saying is I should be allowed to have the advantage of cutting the corner because my car is broken I think he hasn't got a leg to stand on because instead of losing twenty seconds, he's lost ten seconds He still lost time in his mind, but he's actually not lost the amount of time that he would have lost if he were taking the track properly. Yeah, ye, exactly. C he didn didt have the option ahead of him to Well, you could have parked it, but you could also have braaked one hundred meters earlier for every corner. Yeah. I mean, so like there's a very technical yes he's right because it's Mercedes' problem. The car broke He didn't break it. The car broke. so that's a Mercedes engineering problem. He, however, stuck with it It's not unusual to see drivers penalized for team mistakes, you know pine releases and so on, so forth. that's not the driver's fault at all, but still the driver is the one who inherits that. Penalty Can we played Devils Advoca and say mayaybe it was Kimmy's fult, Maybe he was pushing being after being after being under the car this was driving the car? He drove the car and broke it. Yes,. Was he pushing so hard that he was using so much curb with so much resonance that it snapped the car No. Probably not. No hang on hang. Cops is a corner though with a serrated edge on the end and it's off specifically that corner. So you do have to look at that. and he does have a habit of running sort of eye racing lines and simulator lines where where you just constantly take more and more curb. He's had more track limits violations. it seems because we hear about them But it seems like he's had more track limits violations than anybody else normally does It looks like he is pushing the limit of the track, whether it's the limits of the car and that kind of stuff is not part of the question, but he's definitely a driver who is using every single bit of racetrack And some of these tracks have some really really nasty curbs. Remember the old horrible nasty curbs Austria They used to make the horrible noise, which were tearing the cars apart You run over cops at one hundred and eighty miles an hour enough and You know, it could happen. I'm not saying it's the thing that happened I'm saying one of those things that could Well, yeah. And but if Mercedes wasn't on the radio saying, Kimmy, we're seeing some unfortunate vibrations. We need you to be more careful with the curbs, then it's still a Mercedes problem. He's not going to know that. He's taking the fastest lines. He's driving the car faster than anyone else if they didn't design a car that could be driven to its actual potential because they didn't expect anyone to get there a Mercedes problem. However Gimmy's argument was more rationally didn't intend to drive off the track That's true. We understand that Guess what? The rule doesn't care what your intent was. It simply counts if all four wheels are over that white line. and once they're over enough time Your intent is irrelevant I didn't intend to speed officer. I just looked down and was going an extra whole digit that I didn't anticipate. to play the other side of the ark play the other side of the argument that that's not with're just being mean to Kimmy. Right. you can also just say that when the places he did go off deffinitely didn't get. Yeah. no, it was just but that's whole thing. you get, I mean, again, people hate it when we compare things to r racing, but But in ire racing, if you go off through something if you're just avoiding an accident you go off the track, you get an off track violation And if you if you have to avoid seventeen incidents and you get seventeen offracts, you get a penalty. It's not your fault, but it's tough. It's down. It's not that the rules are fair, is's that they get applied evenly in every situation. and that's why it is the way it is And and we have moaned a lot about the consistency of the regulations and at least they're being consistent Okay, but we've okay, so we briefly covered the safety car thing And you cleverly moved it on before I had a chance to fully like exode about the safety cl our stuff. So that's well done. saf in your mental health sts. Thank you. I appreciate that. And then so you know I think it's right to focus on Antonlli because he was the fastest entry. this weekend by by a long shot. and so he was absolutely blindingly fast in the sprint race. and then here today Me and Matt were wrong. Matt, I think we got we got the strategy wrong while watching it for the first time ever Or was it just me? I thought it was an crazy how long they were keeping Antonlli out No, no, you're not wrong. This was u they had When you're in this situation. So to be clear, this is Pitting, pitting first. That's the undercut. So L look like W was a h pitted first. Sometimes you say do the opposite, that's fine. You have one lap and you have to know immediately is this a push lap to defeat the undercut. or in fact, am I going to go very, very long here and Mercedes clearly bet on going long because of his admittedly you know, catastrophic pace as far as his rivals are concerned They're like, lookook, we understand. I know you're losing time, but look, you're going to have to lap fresress your tires. Those guys are going to be like putty in your hands, kid And then that didn't work out at all because the car broke. There was a safety car and he never gotten the chance to fully capitalize on the advantage they gave him I'm going to be very I would love to have been sitting in on the debrief when they showed him the numbers that proved that they were right about this strategy But they did put him They took him from a very certain thing, which is undercut, look Lurk And then, you know, drive away because Le Kerk is going to come out behind him and he's in free air, we saw his pace once he got past Lewis in the sprint race That's a sure thing. inststead they said, Oh, let's go along because what they were also thinking is, oh, let's goal hang for a virtual safety car or a safety car. And you still have the pace to catch up. That way we're getting two nibbles, two bites at that one apple It does feel like Antonlli was going to win anyway. Yeah just whatever happened. Yeah yeah. Yes. ye ye. So Obviously I think in my head that the main thing that you would walk away with here is that obviously Antonlli is going to be like, I was desperately unlucky and it was all against me and I've lost it again. But as long as someone's saying to him, like d you fast. like don't worry. whereere was even Brussesel before all of that happened? Did he come from my eighth or something? Yeah Russell Russell. Okay. so as this as one of Russell's only fans and we saw the other fan today. Yes was was It was another fan of George Russell. was I was with my kindred spirit And um It was awful today just had no pace in what is still the fastest car when you look at Kimmy and I think we mean andpaners are talking about this during the race, which was It seems like Mercedes have done it again, they have bought a car that cannot follow Once it is designed to be out in front alone. And it's not. And he was fighting, he was having to defend from Hjar and then had to defend from Max and then had to defend from Lewis. He was he wasn't doing any attacking driving seemingly apart from the first opening laps the whole race and I I'm baffled and I've said this I've said this countless times already this season, but I don't know where his form has gone. And I think his head's dropped. but I think it's more than that. He's obviously not on top of his car, something with the tyires. And George, my dear boy is having a struggle. So there's two things to just stick the boot in where even though you're being kind Yeah kind and level headed about how your driver that you like is doing. So first of all, can the Russell does nothing P two meme? Can we validate that? Okay Yeah, so today, it wasn't even Russell did nothing Rusll did terribly and still somehow ended up P two and I had lots of people slagging off the Ferrari strategy pitting bothoth of the drivers But They should have got at least one racing lab. And even George said My tyres were so cold. if we got one racing lap, I was going to lose at least one place And here's the thing. if you looked at the gap from Hamilton to Russell, which is the only thing that matters And if you looked at the numbers that Perelli put out, which I will say are Not entirely accurate, although not too far off what it probably really is the loss of under the pit stop in the safety car should have been ten and a half seconds. And if you look at the gaps coming in Lues had slightly more than that And somehow Russell got ahead of him. Was it a slightly slow pit stop? Was it I don't know. It doesn't matter. It was very marginal But yes, you're absolutely correct. You' predicting based on where the car is and the what's needed to remove it single racing lap, if not to They weren't wrong about that. just a really funky little quirk of the rules that it didn't happen. and I allll set it I think Lewis implied it and Brussesel certainly said like, you know It would have been a lot more fun for us to have had a one lap race for the podium to see where we all sorted ourselves out. And I think Nors would have liked that too a little bit been honest But I'm pretty sure if'm if I'm fred, I'm like, thank God Thank God, he did not go ahead and run that last lap because oh, what could have gone wrong because technically If Lewis had got out ahead of George and they had had another lab. Ferrari have to give the place to Lewis Do there? No, it's too early. not. It's too early. No, I know it I know it's not actually too early But it is too early. There is only a chance There isough, isn't it? There is only a chance, a realistic chance for one of the Ferrari cars takeake on. both Mercedes and because of the form Lewis has been on, has to be Lewis. Okay, Alex, it's it's round what three now? S. Ital three We the half we need the season break. you've got two more races for the season break. So are you telling me Lerk who was dominated this se. he never would and they wouldn't do. I know they should. Yeah. So if Hw comes out one to Yeah and they do get one more racing lab Does make sense because who are the championship contenders? If it was Red when we were Perez if it was Red B Perez was there, Perez was in first, Max was in second. two laps to go And Max is fighting the red the McLarens like he was last time Qion Who is in the championship fight right now? N them George Lewison. And Ny And did anyone here, sorry, sorry my headphones might have been there L M. sorry, my headphones are malfunctioning. Did anyone say Leclerc or thestampen? No He's a bit farther behind. but I'm just imagining the rad to call. Yes, Charles, we know you're twenty seconds ahead of Louewis You were definitely fasin with him. However, could you like slow down a lot please That's going to work really well MCler was very happy all weekend There was a very there was a conversation that is like Leclur has like figured the car out now. And and is happy with the car so maybe the club's going win the championship. He's got, I think he was around one hundred and nine points if my memory serves correctly. And that by the way is not something you should ever wager on How much money? Well, somebody tried to wager with us in the park hotel. A very nice slightly ineberated young man came up and wanted to bet us allor that Holkenberg was going to get on the podium. Yeah. And then we all turned and laughed at him when Holkenberg had been pulled and pulled over. So in his defense last year Holkenberg did get a podium. So if he someone who just had turns up for British Grandri, he's like, Yeahah Alklenberg got a podium. let's go for it again We convinced him not to place a bet with a bookie And and then Holenberg chugged to a halt from P seventeen And so we all turned around were like, you loser? Yeah. No yeah. Th you tried to bet us as well. Yeah he tried. he wanted us to bet him We should have just taken his money. onene thousand pounds Yeah. No It was like the candy baby situation if Mbia. Yeah. was. But fun. Yeah. Leclerc deserved that victory because okay T Absolutely. If let's say I think if Hamilton and Leclerc had performed equally well this weekend, maybe Hamilton was in with a fight because the difference in the sprint race was really stark. Like Hamilton was up there dicing with Antonlli and Leclerc was was was in the in the god It was the seventh. Yeah, he was in the bleaches. He was in like go ter. He was in the cheap seats. J mean, he could spit down on the orchestra, but he couldn't, he didn't have a good view of the action And then Hamilton just got worse and worse over the course of the weekend. So he addressed that by the way. Did he post race? Yeah, he addressed that in the post race. He said, I don't know what happened On Friday, everything felt magical magical. and then by over the course of the weekend, everything just went away from me. So did he say No, he didn't say anything about changing the s No he did. Did he say I ke I felt really good on Friday and I changed stuff and it felt worse and then I just kept changing stuff and it kept getting worse and worse and worse and worse. Yeah, but the track itself evolved over the weekend. The weather was different, we didn't just have. We had a cooler track today than we did. So these these are tiny little margins we're talking about here and they can take one driver out and put another one in feel like Leclerc did a better job of setu up throughout the weekend. And therefore deserved to be ahead of Lewis. So it would have been very, very harsh to even think about taking that away I also get the feeling that Ferrari aren't actually entertaining a Hamilton title charge out loud so that if they are entertaining a title charge, the last thing they would want to do would be to massively draw attention to it by by making one of their favorite songs move aside they are if they are attempting a title challenge, the last thing they want to do is tell Lclerc that it's not him. How will that do? Okay guys, we think we've got a shot of the title, but for the love of God, don't tell anyone because it would be so awkward. ye. But I mean, at some point there if it is Game on because it is between those three, right So it's the point they again have to make choices. And I think I believe Leclerc will be pragmatic. However, this is way too early in the season to do it without just getting a fish and just slapping him in the face with a fish. Well they have done for the last seven seas's have done for the last seven seasons. He's been there reggardless of how this turns out, he's there long term and they have a car already already have a car that is closeed to and once they get the Power unit upgrade inp Because it is a power unit upgrade. It's weirdly measured only on internal combustion, but it is a whole power unit upgrade. Once they get that going? because the one they did now was like sort of the preliminary low hanging fruit already closer If they have more equal power or much closer to Mercedes on power everything else they have that's already better aerodynamically. B than the Mercedes. So Now, it's happy Days long term at Ferrari. The question is can they manage the car enough and stay close enough willill that magic moment happen? But if they get the same kind of power that's in the Red Bull You know, obviously because the Red Bull was the most powerful ader onet. But then you had the issue where the the go tier driver like Max kind' of control the car through stoow we're going to do this Okay. we've got a few like loose threads to pull on here. So the first one is were Ferrari right to make that pit stop? I do you want to pick that up from earlier on. Yes, I think Anway. the other one is was it Ver Stappen's fault? So let's go in order then did Red Bull did Ferrari make the right call with Hamilton. I felt one hundred percent confident that was the right call. Yes, I agree. when you When you came back and the safety C were like, makeake sure you bought load. We werere talking about double stacking them And it was like Absolutely get Louis in because he had like twelve or thirteen seconds. know what happened in that pit stop that meant George came out in front. I don't quite understand. Unfortunately, where we were sat becausecause we just get the world feed, we don't get all the sky sport stuff that goes with it. So we didn't see any of the pit stop time. So I don't know if rather than two point four seconds, like a lot of Ferarry's pit stops have been, was it a three point five second stop Was it a bit slow? I don't know. Was his inlap a bit slow? Was his who was he not full forr or leaveving the pits Did he not booted into a right up to the line. D I boot it from the moment he was over the line where you're allowed to go fast like. So the thing people forget is you're not once you cross the the pit lane line, you're not under safety car conditions. so you can go as fast as you want obviously up until the pit lane speed limit. Always that f fter. And then yes. Yeah, so as soon as you enter the pit lane, you can boot it as fast as you want U until you get to the control line and then you have to be at speed again. Question. When the safety car comes out and you're making your way to the pit lane, are you are you under VSC condition You boot it until you're outside you want to get ahead of the safety car if you possibly can. Yeah So if the safety car comes out pace car you literally can just go as fast as you want. Yeah like a racing speed. until you until you're outside the pit line. the moment you The the white line on the track that's for the for the control line. once you pass that, you're under safety car rules. until you get there. you are absolutely not. And we've actually seen some racing I was it Canada out of the curtle But was it signs in somebody? There several times we've seen people racing each other out of with one car on track and stuck and the other one racing to catch them and get ahead before they hit that line But if it's past the incident that is causing the flag Yeah. It's irrelevant. the pit lane ist pit lane doesn't kill. It still his on a bitite Fitlane is its own little universe Okay, and then the other thing is Verstappen has now had I think three or four of these kind of offs. We all agree, of course, it's definitely not his fault, right It's never ever. I think he is a man driving incredibly frustrated Yes Listen, I could sit here and take the meic and say how He binn it all on his own the loser Was it his fault driving error. Yes Does he have a car that's probably a little bit unruly on worn tyres Yes as well. Is he probably trying to drive super duper hard. to push and get the absolute most out of it. Yes, because that's what Mat Vstappen does Did he get caught out Yes So if you have a known issue Is it on you to manage that?? Well, let's go back to talking about Kim M Anelli with his broken wheel. Yes, or Hamilton in Singapore. Correct Yeah I disagree. I'm pretty convinced looking at the footage. this was mostly down to the software that manages the region And he just got a sudden and unexpected transfer of weight rear work For the same breaking he'd been doing lap after lap Y lab at a certain point it may be possible for the drivers to anticipate that's going to happen Right now, it's It can be unpredictable and when you're in Stow, unpredictable is not a word that you really want to hear. Yeah Vangjine, you hate her You absolute hate her unbelievable. Sasteau is a very fast right handnder donon't really apply much break. You you have you have a you have a brush of the brakes and turn it in and it looked I very similar to what happened in Austria Um, and he just had a snap He went to correct it and then it's now to win again and I can't sit here and look I haven't seen too many angles of it. I've seen the onboard and I've seen the offboard just looks like he overcooked here a bit Well it's happened a lot, so if it is a kind of an ongoing issue, then you have to kind of go, well, okay, he's obviously not managing that issue well because he's gone off quite a j time do it in exactly the same machinery Again, you see a brush of the brakes. Let's put a number on it. ten percent ten percent breaks Just so we have a number to discuss. So I'm making an example here. Obviously, none of us know that it really Let's say that ten percent brush works, works, works. and then you go for that exact same ten percent brush and here I will give Max credit. I don't think he's hitting the brake suddenly much harder And instead of ten percent, you get twenty percent because you've used some extra energy somewhere And the battery is like, oh, hey, oh, we could use some energy here. So let's just grab onto that crankshaft a little bit harder then your weight is entirely rearwards and you've turned in expecting that weight to be on the nose a bit more And round and round and round you go. So that's what we thought Oscar Pashri did in Australia. I don't think that's. But that's what we thought. But Oscar down said It was on him Now I don't think your Max will ever admit to a mistake I don't know. think I think he'll sit there and happly say the car was handling like a pig and he lost it And what was the comment when he came out which was like unbelievable. I don't unbelieable leaped Yeah. Yeah he had a lot of he had a lot of words for the people at Red Bull, none of which we can repeat now. And he did it and he did it right in front the Lando stand. He didn't get booed which I think is nice. Okay, so a brief interlude now for who did get boooted because after this I do want to talk about the Russell versus Verstappen battle. However, there was there was there was definitely booming and there was definitely celebrations. and I wouldn't normally do this, but I think we do have to do a segment about the Lego the Lego sego weekend. Everyone was laughing about it before. What if we made it even more Zany? And this is what they did with Lando Norris when he used to be kind of fun and doing improv. and then at some point someone on TV decided that they should have Carlos Sins and Landa Norris driving a GT three car with milk with Do you remember that So much fun. And then Lando just basically lobbed it all in cl space. Are you saying you liked that segment? I thought it was hilarious. I loved it because I love I love Zany and stupid. No that is the ultimate like, oh the grown ups have gone, Oh, the kids are having fun. what can we do that? The problem was was they took advantage and we've said this loads of times, they took advantage of Lando's good nature and fun loving nature and then rued it. And so the risk was they would take the Lego thing that worked really well in Miami. they jumped the shark They jumped the shark. That's reference. I didn't know you were old enough for that reference. That's cool. It's very simple. What happened in Miami the first time with that was entirely organic. It was authentic. Nobody and especially not the LegO people saw that comment. and that's why it was brilliant And then then then the TV guys were like, Ohh Hear me out. Spider Man Reboot number seven. No, no, no, no, wait, hear me out.boot They just take the idea that worked once naturally and they're like, let's just copy it and paste it over and over and over again. no one can tell we're using this stamp tool in Photoshop, can they? So I have no issue with the Lego cars. I think I think what it should be is it should be because they were Lego go Cards. we we saw them when they were part we we you get to see them in the paddock and we saw them in the paddock and they are By all means sodio cartars with Lego over the top of them. and all electric, right and I was sat there with a couple there with a couple people watching this going on. and I'm like, first of all, I couldn't believe they were going to a full lap of the circuit because It's a really big go c. It took so long well. There's a reason it took a long and we'll get there in a minute. But I thought first of all S some of the drivers, especially Lewis texting on their phones while driving around the track, not looking at anything going on I think it should just be a race. I think it should be ual race. No, no, wait, wait. so with Lewis, like he is not interested in driving He wants to be a passenger Yeah is He always gets in the back. when it was him and Charles, he lets Charles drive. he's like a passenger print. and then when it came to no you have to drive your own parade car, I imagine he went, oh no. but but Charles drives I have a second driver for this. Wh whereereas the Williams is the opposite. they look fite to bully the driver. But the reason the whole thing took so much longer was they decided to cut corners on the circuit, which again, it's a really long track, so why wouldn't you cut corners? However, all of these very experienced racing drivers and somebody else who we will talk about as well decided to cut across Graffle tra And seven of them got stuck That was crazy. And okay thing is and they all didn't immediately just get out, lift up the front and pull it Pull it out. That frustrated me a lot And they guess some of them tried to But there was these those gravel traps are so deep You it's impossible to put it out. but Then there was Somebody else ye I want to take you would have want sh I lead it. I think I think this is important. So There was twenty two drivers in their legon cars. There was a twenty third cart, Lego cart And Look so good So the glorious leader of the FIA, Mohammed bin Saleayim What a guy just was like, I will also pitch in. You know, I know I'm like the leader, but I'm going to go on the front lines. He got in a car in his suit, by the way, how brave went in there and just mixed it up with the kids. For me, I'm like El Presidente, that was absolutely amazing. I don't know exist. I don know, you shill. I'm of two minds here One , you know, and maybe this is just me and my culture, but I don't see that as being necessarily appropriate in that venue Other hand If you said to me, if you had maximum absolute power and could put yourself in a go cart with the twenty two F one vibvers. would you? I absolutely would do that. I'd be like, yes, I know I look like an idiot. I don't really care. This is going to be the most fun I've ever had in my life. So ye I can kind of see it a little bit Is he So blind doesn't know that he isn't very well liked. And what I think this is a sign of is that the people around him are advising him in a certain way. They said, ye, no, this is no. Yeah, no, you are absolutely right. This is going to go down so well However, the crowd, I think they made their feelings generally clear. I was I was actually surprised. I was know there's two things. One thing I' was annoyed about. He got a petrol car He got a normal Sdy Yeah. but they all had le all they all had electric cars And then irony Gimm me. D Ben S Lion was pushing him back to the pit. Oh yes, right. So the irony, the visual metaphor am I? Oh so the electric car was failing in the superstar car and then the FIA was trundling along with a bump draft with a fully petual cart I mean, the RNE for me is that Kimy's car then broke down. No. Oh, I was looking at the deeper picture of Mha Benelean pushing for V eight and minimal hybrid and then the push for ultra electric, which Kimi is the charge of, broke down and was rescued by the fossil fuels. Oh sorry, sustainable fuels got it. Yeah. However, also one of my favorite things was Liam Lawson who had instant regret when he decided to drive off the circuit to go closer to the crowd bouncing across the grass and you could see him going, oh no, you could go ow because it was hurting as he was bumping across theass. But also fair play, his incentive for that was to get as close to the crowd. And weve It was pretty pretty cool. Okay, so really annoying? I'm really starting to light ls ann. Stop it stop. years ago, I thought he was an awful awful human and a bully and I now like Lawson, It's sad.'s's anoy. But it is true. He has completed his journey from heel to hero again. He has.'s turned he's turned babyface This is wrestling again, isn't it? Ragah. So let's get back to the real racing. Now you guys have a lot of opinions and I think so do I about the basically Russell versus the world, but Russell versus Verstappen is a fairly good place to start Can we startop with it from the Sprint race because I wasn't here for the show yesterday. So in the Srint race, he him and him and Max were having a Tus Really great battle with was it with Lando? Yeah, with Lando. I just said that I don't remember about fine. And then coming down the Wellington Straight Max puts a disgusting dirty in the breaking zone chop across the front of George. I have No idea on earth how that didn't end up as an aeropplane crash. know I know I only saw the front view, but you guys went back and looked at the onboards, right And no, we never actually did that, but thank you for reminding me of my failure Oh, okay, I thought Spaner said he saw it but fair enough, whatever. I don't know. So yeah, so the cho. Yeah' jop So it confirmed one hundred percent chops one hundred percent like. Trust me, ordered that one for dinner because it was that that fat Yeah. so and That was one thing and listen, we it's one of the things that Schumacher used to do all the time. It was called the shumy chop when he used to do it to everybody or especially at the starts of races Everyone's made a thing of their incident in the race today. Max made a thing of it. When they came through stow, side by side and Max went off the track smke and just scream And I do admit off the track. I didn't re see it at the time, but we've gone back and watched it in excruciating detail because it actually for once has a decent shot right above, right behind them showing exactly where it was and Max did go off the circuit. However, what I have now seen through watching that footage is By the time they've turned in and they're past the apex. Now remember, I don't agree with the apex rule I just think you should be figuring it out as you want per corner and leaving each other racing room But according to all the rules that Max seems to follow. x was behind before the apex through the apex well behind and on the exit. And when you if you stop it just as they are heading towards the exit curb of Sow He's facing I really on the exit of the circuit. So at that point he has to back out He's Max for Stappers who doesn't back out and looked great and we really, really enjoyed it by the rules that he likes to play by He was outside of them Two questions Question number one And this is the one that I think Max was trying to play to the rest for. Did he get forced off unfairly? So by these very complicated rules, I will say both questions and then be done with what I have to say By these very complicated rules, it is possible on first viewing to think that perhaps he has a case to be made that he was alongside enough that he deserved racing room actually a reasonable argument. And you like that because it promotes side to side racing. I believe However, by my rule by my rules I go by I think you was, I think you should be able to leave racing room. Yeah, no, wouldn't necessarily disagree with it. but the second problem didn't really ever become a problem because Russell immediately pitted was Max just kept his foot fully in entirely off track and lost and actually gained space on George And I remember Rosberg and Hamilton doing this exact same thing. and I Rosberg took Hamilton off and Hamilton kept his foot in and came back in And then like ten laps later got a penalty for gaining an advantage off track. I'm like, wait, Rosberg took him fully off with this driving no, apparently that's not the way it works. So that never got resolved because Russell pitted out of any possible controversy A fool like her here and in Austria, Verstappen was able to stay in the battle longer than he ordinarily should have been able to by staying alongside off track But I mean, that's good driving if you don't get a penalty for it, right But you should. Yeah. you allowed to stay Wh are you allowed to that I think you shouldn't be able to use the runoff of the circuit to stay on the track because at that point you're off but you shouldn't be ushered off. Now again and if That was me carting in the rules that the series that I've raced in would been, I would have had to have left Max racing room on the exit because he was more than halfway alongside me That's not the rules in F one. And I don't agree with the rules in F one I don't agree with the rules in if one because if Let's say George wasn't pitting straight away. if hed left the room for Max, they'd then be fighting into the next three corners. And actuallyh we could have got here come a through goes Hamilton effect because it' exactly what happened Bing between Perez and Leclerc all those years ago when we got the through Ges Hamilton. But didn't Russell only ever take up bits of the track that had already been vacated by the Stampers? So if Verstaffen chose to, there was no contact So Verstappen chose to keep turning left so as to not have Russell hit him. But Russell just took the racing line. The logical extreme of that is Rasberurg in Austria, where he doesn't even begin to make the corner and drives fully into the often. But there was contact. There was contact there. But Hamilton That's not what happened. What happened here? was George took the correct racing line through that corner with Max on the outside of him In my book you should leave ifs big because you know someone's there, you should leave them the room to exist on the exit of the circuit because if there's a wall there, you don't want to run them into a wall. The way the way if way if one The way if one does the rules is well, you're ahead, so you have to back out The throttle works both ways I don't know I like the idea that However, imperfect the concept of the rule is we get better racing if everybody follows this down with that and I agree. We would have had a multic corner battle Id Russell not pitted you know, maybe that is a bit of why he just didn't bother with it What was the epic multic corornal battle we had? Oh, it was Leler and Lewis, wasn't it? A few races ago They battled to like four or five corner side by side. Oh my God. Yeah. And they and how amazing was it because they left each other Racing but they're not going to change that. They're just going they're not going to change it. It's ch because it allows Max to keep running people off the circit. and he got tast of his own medicine and oh look. t of their medicine didn't like it He didn't call for a penalty this time though, did he? He didn't need to by that point because George already Bugg it off into the pit lane with a puncture. No, fair enough. Yeah. Okay, so there was a lot of strategy in this race. I don't think we've covered like any of it, basically. A lot of strategy for a one stop for what was technically a one stop. it' a one stop race So I was very disappointed about when you guys told when you guys told me about that earli in day, I was like,'s a one stop at Silverstone And and it was Until we got the virtual safety car and then we had a safety car and yeah, unless you get a slow puncture or your car just stops running like a Hulkenberg or it stops driving correctly like over stopping Then it becomes a multi stop affair Now, the interesting thing, the thing to look at fundamentally is at the start LecClerc, especially A really nice jump. And I suspect some of that had to do with Lewis knowing that he'd had a false start. We didn't know that at the time But like if I'm there and I have a false start, like It has happened to me and not in carding but in eye racing. thenen you're like, ah, and then it starts. and then you're already behind and you know you're down for a penalty you're just going to say, well, what's the best I can do here? Oh, well here's Antinelli behind me. best I can do is try and give my team a bit of a buffer at this point. This is going to be the least disastrous solution for everybody. I kind of got the idea that's what Lewis was like Sadtling on And this whole battle between and George and Louis cost Lewis theod the second step on the podium today Be when Lewis came in for his pit stuff He was ten seconds. behind the cler And then he came out and he was about twelve, thirteen seconds behind Leclerc when he started to fight with George. And this would be after Leclerc's start the next lap And over the course of the few laps that they were all fighting and falling over each other, they lost about ten seconds And this is the thing Actually it's a funny thing that it's a weakness I believe both Mercedes drivers have. and it's understandable from the point of view of I'm Antineelli and just an excitable teenager. If you're George Russell, and I'm going to ask you because like I have my own thoughts about racing, but you've done admittedly slightly more than me, Jenie love it slightly more I have somebody like Lewis behind me And someone like maxs ahead of me. and I know Lewis is on brand new tires Do I fight Lewis to the death or do I say H, if I don't fight him too hard and he goes past and then passes Max, then I have Max out of position And I can take advantage of that, which is actually the better thing to do if you're a racer. We have had this conversation, even as like an amateur racer E amateur. like below amateur. Yeah. No, not even amateur. like karaoke rac. they're not working together, but I just feel like if that was you and me, Alex, we're deadly rivals on track But I feel like if we had a slightly slower guy ahead, which Verstappen was at the time we would understand that guy who was just a little bit slower out of us. We will yield that and go let's go and get that guy and not lose time Absolutely correct. I've had the situation many times, which is there's a faster guy ahead. I'm slightly faster than the guy that's ahead directly ahead of me. I'll pass that guy. We'll work together. We'll push our way past this other guy and then we can then fight it out for the rest of it or B However And again George, dear George. George, if you're listening to this show and I really hope you are the chip on your shoulder that you have about Louis Hamilton It affected you all the way through your time as his teammate just have to let it go because that cost bothoth of you the opportunity to go further ahead. I don't know if the slow puncture was caused by You two fighting because you run a little bit off track or you take a slightly different line and you're fighting so much and there's a little bit of carbon fiber off the side of the track somewhere that's put a tiny little slit in your tyre and courses to it, you didn't need to fight Lewis that hard because you both could have got mags. Instead, I mean too fair they both did get ms in the end And George does he prevailed for a bit. But at that particular point, it's not the smart thing to do. I just love the thought of Russell perhaps listening to this and there's one universe. There's one universe where he's listening to this and he's like, o, you know what, Alex, you've cut to the soul of me. L I see that you ye four year old man. I'm a pro. I was going to say the other option is that he's just like Dude, did you not see where I finished P two I didn't kn that o but yeah and even and even he said he was like, I don't know how I got here. I don't know. For me, that's the thing It's the target fixation. It's the getting sucked into It's the getting sucked into a battle. You don't have to fight And it's always about that. can I have that have Remove emmotional remove. like emotionally, yes, I want to beat Lewis. I understand that. but And from Antinelli, I completely get it you see him in the opening laps, he gets hung up in battles and I think that's why Lewis was so good in the sprint race Ants in L. I think just entirely blew his energy trying to get Past Luis been a little bit older wiser, he'd be like, son, I'm not running down that hill. I'm walking, you know? And and still got here in the end. Yeah. and you will get there in the end and you'll get there quicker and better advantage But he's young He's still learning this stuff. There's a lot he doesn't know, he doesn't know Russell has been around long enough that You want him to be like a sign.s like, okay, right? look L is faster, but hey, Ferrari, stop inventing. giveive me that stop and I know I'm going to win That's the only bit missing from Russell right now to make him real contender against Antonell that's the stuff he has to use. He has to use experience. He has to be smart. He has to take himself personally out of the equation and always be thinking what is the most points I can gain and how can I manipulate this situation the best to my advantage? Well, I think we might be heading towards our podium. Here it is, the British Gndprix, the best gndpri, the best race in the history of the universe. And we've been doing it for way more than two hundred fifty years. That's right, we have been racing in the UK for fourteen thousand years. So America, enjoy your independence day birthday, I believe that marks America being twenty five years old or something like that. Well well done, yes, well done. That's absolutely fantastic. well done. In the British Grand Prix, we are going to give awards out, ither the greatest Grand Prix that has ever existed in this land of gods We are going to start off with our negative awards so that we can end on a positive. So I'm going to ask you guys Who missed the apex the Apex. Alex Vanjinee, Oh my goodness that That always jars me. My son It now speaks very roughly and it's taller than me. But yeah, so who missed the apex for you? Alex Vanjin All of the F one drivers who decided to purposely drive through a gravel trap in G karts didn't think they'd get stuck Did they not see Stroll in Laras last year? Did they didid they learn nothing from that incident honestly, it was the I was again, I was standing in our very privileged position at the by the pop up hotel's hot tub Yes and there was about twenty of us sort of stood close stood together and we all died laughing Yeah It was brilliant. It was like that police squads moment, wasn't it? Eone just slapping their forehead with their hands at the same time.ese profession These are guys who have spent their entire lives racing and they all thought they could get through a channel of gravel in an electric sody covered in Lego pieces listen, I enjoy the that they put into these things. and I think it's great and it should be more fun. evenven though if there is a particular driver, I won't say his name but he's Dutch who was like, I don't want to be seen to be a clown. We shouldn't be doing these things. blah blah, blah, I'm boring But he still had fun, and that was good. U Mat two rumpets who missed the apex for you All right, this is going to sound Kind of odd because they have the best car and the fastest, at least in raw form dririver Mercedes missed the boat entirely They've got Russell. barely could make it through most of the weekend. and I mean, come on. He may not be quite at a chemy level, but he's not and has never been A terrorist doesn't care. no. You're kkay. You're gonna be kkay. L. I mean, look, I mean, this is like I look, I'm a science fan. I saw him against Leclerc. and if you said, Lecerc because if I was your driver, I'd be like, yeah, but that doesn't mean he's going to win Russell is in the window of being able to be Antinelli right now And Mercedes is Honestly doing kind of a terrible job of figuring the car out with him enough to be competitive as competitive as he should be. That's going to be a problem for them going forward as Ferrari gets better. And then they give Antonelli again a car that breraaks in a way that cost them a huge haul of points are throwing away just a dead run to the championship. with these continued issues. And it's surprising to me because I don't expect that from Mercedes. To finish first, first, you have to finish And if Mercedes can't do that They have a huge possibility of peeing this championship away And if as long those lious benefits, I don't care But should that happen we will rejoin season when we knew Merkel Fast. I was fully, you know, I was we were expecting twenty four to again, I was backing George. hundred And I was super happy that George would get the titleot I feel he deserves. However, he's driven this season like he doesn't deserve it and Mercedes and Mercedes just don't seem to know what's wrong with their car and it's going to get worse because they've gone through P engines and I don't know if they've gone through gearboxes, but they've gone through battery units Ferrari still still got all of their components. Yeah I think I'm not sure Mercedes themselves are in terrible shape, but their customers like Williams certainly are could be having so that c they could be having. several penalties that Ferrari might not have to have later in the season. I will say I haven't said that much on the show because these two have been absolutely fantastic. However, I am going to disagree no, not disagree. That's not right. I'm going to say something that Alex isn't going to like and that other people aren't going to like We're talking as if George Russell is having a bad season You're right to pause You're right to pause. And I think you know what I'm going to say. He's not George Russell is having exactly the kind of season he's had for the last few seasons. It's just that he's not fighting a competitor who is out of contract with the team and who has been chasing results and trying to fix a ground effect car And he's not fighting a rookie. he is now fighting a genuine on the pace driver with very few weaknesses outside of starting and wheel to wheel racing, I think Russell is having a normal season, this is just how George Russell perform. Do you wantna go first? Yeah.ad. Don't hit me, donon't hit me. So Oh my go he's adusted his position. So there we go.'s twenty twenty twenty three, agree with you He was out of sorts. twenty twenty four, he started to learn and figure things out Last year he was excellent against him he couldared to a no, no, no, no no. But he wasn't making the mistakes that he was making that he was this Yeah because there was no He wasn't he wasn't he actually wasn't burning his tyres out. last year. He things under control. And as I said multiple times, Second to max. He was the second best driver last year and I truly, truly, truly believe that and he's not performing the same way this year that he did last year and his confidence is on the floor. I don't care about your repost. I'm going to leave now. Ive gott to go home. go. My repost is Do you remember how Last year without Hamilton there with just a rookie We talked about the Mercedes limitations so that and then It turned out that the ways that Mercedes struggled are all the things that we said Geor Russell struggled So it's struggling in high temperatures, it's struggling at the end of stints. So that became a Mercedes weakness, yet he was still seen as the second best driver of the year. Now that Antinelli is on form, suuddenly The Mercedes does not have any of those weaknesses except on George's car. Antonneellid is not suffering with any of those things, and Russell is on guys. Let's start to see the picture. All right, my turn. let's be quear. Last year Russell, driving a Mercedes that was never perfect and they did not bother to fix. They just sort of made slightly better All the drivers on the grid, I think lost the fewest potential points to his own mistakes and problems And you're going to tell me that very same driver from last season showes up this season and is so incompetent that this is all his fault. I have a hard time believing that. And if we look at the early seasason where he legitimately was faster than Antinelli Did he not Australia as well, there was a problem. No He lost a shhed looad of points early on We could just attribute to the recent I don't care about I don't care about George's failure. I don't care about the Unlucky things George has had this season George has not been ultimately as fast as Kimmy. And but he's but he has looked more out of sorts can't figure the car out. And listen, part of that is because Kimmy has had a massive summer growth spurt Winter growrosspur Yeah and is all of a sudden it's like it's like when when you play FIFA and you get some of the young Young players come in from your reserve, you do your team and after the first season, all their stats just fly on. exactly what Kim said he had a hot wet Italian summer is that what you're saying I don't exactly know what you mean by that. so no I don't say anything. It's a famous movie, but that's fine. So I haven't done my mis Apex by the way So My Miss Apex award does go to the Hamilton side of the Ferrari Egineering Criage. and I think I think they need to come up with a little bit of a song. So they do the setu, they turn up for the weekend with the car they want. And I think they need to just, you know, they need to show Lewis areas of the car are the no no square Yeah, yeah. So when Lewis is like, I need to change this, you just go stop Don't touch the car there. This is our no no square and just just leave it be. Or just say to him, Yeah, yeah, sure sure, Louis, we'll change that. Sure. you go back to your motor homeome. We'll change it. Don't you worry That is a classic engineering thing, by the way, that especially like in Amyand go,, I think it wouldll be better if it was done. Yep, I've done it. I've done it. And then they go, o yeah, it was so much better. It was so good Briant. We changed absolutely nothing. Okay, let's end on our a good thing award And you go Alex Vanjin who hit the apex for you pop up hotel and their hospitality. Yeah, man. yeah, that's a good one because we do want to get invited back. Yeah when we It was Awesome. I have g. I have thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed myself this weekend. It has been absolutely excellent. Did we say what we did? Well, so to the point where They were so gracious to us. They gave us four day passes, hospitality. We didn't pay for parking. We walked straight into the building. It was brilliant. We got shuttled around. Well we had to perform. We wereforming monkeys. comeome on. We can talk about that a minute. But we had four day passes and I was working Friday. I had a meeting with my boss on Friday morning. but it just happened that we were sat in a hotel was on and I told him what I' to doing this week and I said Do you mind if I skive off the rest of the day and go up to Silverone? He said, Yeahah, sure, off you go. So I spent I spent spent Fray afternoon that with Matt. Me andatt had a lovely time up there on Friday afternoon. And then we and then my wife was like, yeah, just do what you want to do this weekend. So wife my wife was wonderful. And yeah, I left stupidly early on Saturday morning. We got to the track. Weew we had to pick Matt up from a hotel Saturday morning. It's stupid o'clock. you and make me miss my premiere in full English. still fifteen you were still fifteen minutes late Um and And yeah, it was just it was absolutely brilliant. And we just we had a really great spot to sit in. We had televisions and they had stuff and I got to see Nigel Mantll and I got to Johnny Herbert. I neitarly made Carun Chandk fall off his bike. That was good. You made Ollie Beherman laugh. I saw That was my thing of the weekend mother Okay. so yeah, so we me and Matt went to go and watch where all the drivers get in their cars. A car park And it was really, really cool. I found especially hilarious that they have like double siz car parking spaces and Lance Stroll still parked over the light which is the parking space, which I find amazing. And Ollie Beermman was there in a beautiful old Ferrari and forgive me, I don't know what Ferrari it was. It was It was beautiful. And? I think it was Adino and As he came out, obviously F one drivers, you expect them to just drive modern cars with automatic gearboxes. obviously being a very old Ferrari had a manual gearbox. And as Ollie gets in the car and starts revving the engine up, shout I shout over to him easy clutch work, which made him laugh and looked over and laughed at me. And then as he starts the car and revs the car starts to go backwards with lots of resolent. That's it Oie, Lots of revs. and he looked over and laughed again and that's on Instagam. Then we have it on tape. So it we did have the picks. he doesn't lie And he' to put that on TikTok was there forever. I. It was in my story, so it might be gone on now and he's put it on TikTo. I just want to say Matt, isn't it so cute where it's like it's like Alex is my first hospitality Yeah So like it definitely was I had to restrain myself today Yesterday, I was I was a kid in the candy store. No it is kid. And we're in a very, very lucky position that they basically said, he come and come and do a show, occupy the stage for a little while just before the race. J a great spot. And the people that were milling around were very involved and it was lovely and we get to come and watch So anyone who wants us to say things out loud on a mic just get us into the track and that's where they're We will start with that. Absolutely. It was so much fun Are we going to talk about that? No? Yeah No. Matt your thing is what is your thing of the weekend? What hit the apex for you? Well, I mean So we've covered a lot of ground with the Papa hotel. We've covered a lot of ground with the racing. we get to see J just so close to the cars it's Th one I have three things Pardon me, I was there three days I get three days. This is why we don't to come at the week anymore, M. I know one was just like, Go to a race. People go to a race, watch race cars, go racey race car in front of you. It's so different Like for example, in Diste, did you know that's uphill? No, you don't, because it's on TV. But if you drive it in real life or you happen to be at the track and see it, Yeahah, no, it's like a real series uphill And did you know that the exit of the loop is heavily cambered No, I do not ever notice that. Heavily camered. we stood we were stood by and we were looked and went of come out of the loop and it's like that. it's like really, really high angled camper. And thing number two and this is gonna seem like we're just gone entirely commercial and yeah, a little bit. but we'll sell our. I have to be there. Wh You just have to be there? Legitimately, I have to thank the people at Bud auctions who work not No no, that does' not sound bad because it's not like Bud light though,'s not bud DD They sell forormila onene Mmorabilia and I bring this up because they're doing a silent auction of a bunch of Nigel Mantll's collection and other people for for charity And they were kind enough not only to ask Nigel to come on our show. We tried very hard, but he was a very busy man this week. did not We did not directly requested, but but we said, oh, hey, if it's his a, you know, if it's like' his charity, if he wants to come say something, and they're like, Ohh yeah, actually, you know, that's a great ide.'ll go talk to him They brought a nineteen ninety two Arton Sina helmet, not a replica, one with gravel chips in the paint and one that he won the Hungaro ring with over to the show and talked about it and just to be that close ust something like that, to be able to see it. it was just It was a remarkable experience. Andrew from from Andrew Andrew from the Auction House said to us that that helmet was probably worn three or four times and was probably like the third to last helmet that he ever wore as well
