Anyway, so as is tradition, with me and Matt on these trips where we do we do have a can. we have to cover the branding, I think that'sill. We could say it's Coke, cann't we? Yeah. this could be Coke technically by the car. Actually, you know, they probably run a pantone chip and say, no, that's not the Coke bread. it's some other red. Hello, Samantha. Just confirm that you can see and hear us that' be pretty cool. We're just having this one scene So we're not we sound good. Thanks, James. is you know how to make friends such a last minute plan and like I'll show a picture. In fact, I can take a picture from here, I can't of straight away. I should ye and show everybody the setup that we've got Oh how do things work there we go So if you're in Patreon D disiscord now you'll be getting a photo basically of our setup and with any incriminating evidence, I hope this's not too much. But it's very kind of we're in a lovely place in the countryside. so we've got we've been the only thing we've been warned of is Don't go to that circle with the trees because of the bees. Yeah, they keep bees Yeah Doesn't that seem a little suspicious to you? Yeah, I think that's where they bury the body Eactly. either way, I'm not going near it If I I wouldn't go down to the old trees though. it's a look're You jumping out of here. Yeah yeah. You're free to use the grounds. There's a picnic table and you can you can ask, you can ask Sue who's like the the handmaid or whatever, I guess. Just one warning, Don't go down to those trees Wh's that? Billy? Why's that Oh, there's bees on those trees. You don't want to go down there. Yeah It's equivalent of a big red button. Yeah. So I desperately want to go down there and see if it is in fact bees or a place they murder people. Yes. Yeah. It would be nice to know where my final resting place is. Yeah, it's been really nice here at Silverston. so well done, Matt you organized for us to to hook up with the pop up tent. Always a group effort. pop up tent as well. pop up hotel. Oh hotel. was your contact at least Yeah Pop pop hotel and it's big, way bigger than I thought. There's like hundreds and hundreds of yts. I will be honest if I had known this is what it looked like, it would have been much more intimidating to ask in the first place. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. we didn't know Oh pop pop hotel. what is it like a shack or something? you know But no Yeah, no, no, I did talk to them a bit. they did start at Glastonbury. That was their first thing. and as far as F one venues, they do Monaco Silverston and Mza they have Everything from basically like little pre buuilt Brooms Villas So just like your basic tents, there's a nice big area with a restaurant, a bar, they have a pool And you're on the hangar straight you can see Yeah there' pool. And you look the other way, you can see me It's pretty good. I mean, it's not an advert., it's not an advert. They're' fine. But yeah, no, no, it was really nice. Clearly they don't need our help. However, it was nice. So for the rest of this, you're going to have to just imagine me moving my head from left to right. So we' were in field, right? So as they're coming down the hang straight And this is going to sound really stupid, but I felt like, oh, I can be my own cameram manan So by fixing my eyes and only moving my neck as they go past, N, like that I was like, wow, it's like my own cameram manan That doesn't sound dumb, doesn't it? But it worked for me in that moment. Well, it is really fun. Things you don't know is stow is uphill. Like you go into stuff It is like properly uphill I we were watching qualifying and we watched on TV to be ready for this. and don't see that at all other thing is I don't understand why based on the number of overtakes I saw in the Srint race, why they don't just have that corner picture and picture the whole time. They miss so much on the TV broadcast. So it's not always been a great place for overtaking because you're following through Magnet and Beckets and then you're losing the downforce. So we've had this thing in F one where there's a magic force field behind the car is if you get to it, you can no longer operate the car and you can't ever take That seems to have gone this season and there is just constant battling down to stke So Yeah Y it was good. I couldn'tite see it though. I had to sort crank over., I just wish I was a tiny bit closer to to Stow. Yeah. Maybe you're taller so you could see more. So look, Tay has been pretty good at giving me the actual qualifying rundown. Okay because normally I start these shows and I just don't know the order. But yeah, so let's do it as if this is a good thing. This is the only real bit of if we know what we're talking about, here we go. Okay. And to emphasize as well The shirt is coming out. I just to make sure any possible bulges are hidden by air. Wow just I still I don' This is actually a terrible choice for this. I'm sorry.. What I don't want is I don't want false positives of fat areas. There's enough fat areas. I don't to add any's where Lost a bit. Lost a bit honestly, he looks really great in this shirt. IR. Lost lost all my muscle there Yeah. No muscle. Lost a lot of fat loss on my muscle as well. Here we go. So Kimy Aonelli First, Leclerc, Hamilton Russell. Hadjar. Norris Gight is it? Yeah Norris V Stappen, Pastri, Limblad, Lawson and then the rest and then bought a letter who apologized to the team. The standout here is Kimmy Antinelli and my thoughts from the Saturday Kimmy Antonlli is ruining is ruining everything Well, yeah, of course I un happy. Well, I don't blame you. I mean, I came here to see Hamilton sent on the way to his ninth championship. But yeah, so when Hamilton obviously got pole we're cheering on Hamilton, he comes through and you go, he's got to hold those guys off. And if he does, we were thinking on pure pace, he's just going to disappear. Right. And he starts to And then the done done Bringing it in slowly, but surely yes, they're yogoing a little bit, but it goes from one point two to seven one point two to seven, but zer point seven over the course of lap. Th then suddenly that becomes ner point nine to ner point five and it's just closing in, closing and closing in. and then you see Hamilton's tyres start to go. but the thing is Antonade iss bulletproof. H tyres don't go. He has no tyre a wear, he has ultimate pace So how dod you beet him? How do you be Antonlli? He seems indestructible So when you say he has no tyrewar, he has noo tyiewar. He has no discernible tyiewar because he's in the best car by some margin everybody else is having to essentially drive Like like if you ask me what Lewis did I think he just simply drove through his tires. Yeah until until they ran out and around lap seven or eight. you could begin to see him really have traction issues exiting corners. And then that was when the gap came down, came down. And then boom Anton E Scott So the answer is that Ferrari just needs to build a better car. But wait, wait, you say. They have the best chassis, but I can explain this There's this funny thing about aerodynamic spanners. You may not know this This is the Saturday stream. Can I just remind you? You may just remind you, sir, sir This is a Wendy's Gn then aerodynamics You may not know this, but the faster you go, the better they work. And guess who has the fastest power unit right now? M Mercedes R power. No, they had the fastest size. But yeah, so the car goes faster and much like the fabled Lotus of Matthew Carter. Oh yeah. Suddenly, when the UDA powerower mode actually makes the car work, He's in his zone where he's nowhere near any margin he has. Now He may very well be an insane tire whisperer on top of it. That would be even more frightening With that car, it's less of an effort for him to manage the tires where is Obviously with Lewis from watching today, you can see he's absolutely on the ragged margin of getting the tires to the lap they need to be doesn't mean tomorrow's outcome is totally decided Height he does. Really what you're talking about now is Ferrari probably having to ade the arr and fix the engine finally. L they they need that second a dual upgrade and then they're good to Yeah, I I disagree slightly only insofar as It is all over. he is inevitable. I just think that he's got some kind of driving style. where He can push as much as he wants and he doesn't wear the tres.s I think he's doing something magic. because Russell has had those tie drop offs And I can't think of a single stint where Antonlli has had the same issue. I just can't think of one. Yeah I mean, but we said the same thing when it was Russell and Lewis for a long time. as you would see get to blap fifteen or sixteen and then Russell would go backwards because he was out of tyres and Lewis magically had more tyres I don't know if his magic is better than Lewis's magic cars now It's very frustrating. Do you think that It would have been better for Antonoi and Lewis to be in the same team No, u I don't know at the moment, I feel like Antonlli iss indestructible. We have known issues with Russell that we've called out, and everyone tells us we're wrong and stupid, right Then he has this run against Hamilton where Hamilton is all out of sorts and he's trying everything he can whilst whilst Russell is. But even when Russell was doing well against Hamilton whil Hamilton was testing. We pointed this stuff out. So how often do we have to point this stuff out before you go, oh, okay, maybe this is inherently something. last year Last year It felt like all the weaknesses of Mercedes were Russell's weaknesses because Antonlli wasn't on pace. We go, o this this Mercedes it seems to run hot. this Mercedes always seems to not be good on its tyres It' it was just because Russell was the lead driver. now Antinelli is on it and suddenly It doesn't have problems with its tres. It doesn't really have problems overheating apart from the electrical stuff. He can just drive as fast as he wants for zero tyre wear and he's just incred he's just incredible and inevitable, and I don't think anything can stop him. than other than the lack of reliability for Mercedes in general and just Again Brilliant, but he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Yeah And that can that can ultimately bite you across the course of a championship season. Oh man. We we'll talk a little bit. we're getting questions about hospitality and tracks side. We'll definitely talk a little bit about that, but we've just come off the back of qualifying in the sprint race. So in the sprint race Russell really looked like he wasn't anywhere. He wasn't in contention. He was having to fight in the F one point five. Yeah, he got sucked into the Vortex battle with Verstappen and Leclerc. Sadly for us The ideal thing would have been for him to have gotten ahead of Antineelle I think if had that happened, we would have seen a Lewis win. as it was, we got to see Lewis get poull and be way ahead for at least a big chunk of the race, which is exciting. Th thing is it's encouraging because in the spring, Hamilton obviously couldn't do anything about that. Whereas what they've been doing in the last couple of races is, well, let's pit early, let's use the strategy, let's do something different. Obviously that's not an option in the sprint. so they do have more cards to play. I'm really just more concerned with Russell doing that well, his teammate crruises comfortably to that sprint win And then look at Antononelli's qualifying versus Russell's qualifying Okay, so my counter to that. is very simple. If you look at where Russell started from Sprint quQality raise performance to the quality performance, what you see as a progression He may not be as fast But he learns and adapts. He may not be as fast. He might not be as good on his tyres He might not be as good as choosing the right setup for race pace And then there's no butt The butt is on any Sunday. if he can learn and get close enough to Antinelli One, the two of them battling makes Ferrari's life a lot easier And two, well, you know, I mean, what has happened every other time at Mercedes when we've had teammates who really want a thing at the same time? no matter how many rules you give them Toto I'm speaking as parent here How many rules you give them? If they both want the same thing, tears will inevitably result How and how much are Mercedes sabotaging Russell's car. Oh, one hundred percent. Yeah definitely There go, Maria. You happy? in the chat ry that crash looks a bit weird. So let's say that he came out there without with no damage, which can't be true ' then going to be upsetting that he's got Hamilton between him and Antonlli on the grid tomorrow But his qualifying was really scrappy. So he comes through Brooklyn and then has that But on the onboard, it looked like the car just didn't turn Yeah it looked like it was like a Dac or something, you just turn the wheel and it just keeps going the same direction no matter how hard you turn. Yeah. So that's like how a road car because a road car is designed to do that. If you come to a turn and you hit the brakes and you lock up and you're going too fast. your road car is designed to underststand so that you hit front on in the Co zone. And that's exactly what it looked like. But here's what he is. he's a professional racing driver. If you watch c kids carting or us cartting and we get understeer. ourur instinct is then to crank it on and steer more which just makes you understand more as you're looking. But he was seemed to crank the steering over just from memory. And then from the offboard, you saw the big lock up and go Huh. what do we say here? Something the lockup has caused the understeay. Yeah. Yeah, no, absolutely because it's the inside tire dragging Interesting theory, because we saw Antonelli have a similar problem, but not have as dire a result I don't know what brake materials they use, but I do know that if they're still using the carbone industries, they are more temperature sensitive if they are cold And which tire was it right, front right and which break in Hire get smashed during your whole app, the left and what was different? the breeze. So it could just be that the cooling of the brake docks created sort of an asymmetry across break temperatures. Yeah. And then you see that result where it locks up one unexpectedly. Why would you expect it? Even the engineers got that one wrong is what I would say. What was my one instruction about the Saturday stream if you were going gonna join me on the Saturday Stream? I did no research. I looked at no data. I'm just making this stuff up out of my own brain Okay, fair enough. Let's get away from the serious stuff for a little bit. It might have been a mistake to let me do that by the way. Well, I mean you'll hear it would have been very rude to just do it by myself the super clipping problem is back here with the vengeance. on boards are for magnets and buckets are someome of the most depressing onboards I've ever seen Question No you saw them in real life. Yeah. Did you notice it as much in real life? I think it's an audio issue of No, no, no. ye, yeah, yeah. So yeah not. In fact, tell us, if you were at Maggots and Becketets, we saw them coming out of chapel onto the hang ofstray, we didn't get see them going through Maggots and Becketets, and they totally run out of power. through those first couple of Ss on the onboards, it sounded so lame. tellell us if you were there Did it actually did it look and sound bad or is it fine? But yeah, don't do those onboards anymore. What race was it where it was China where they very smartly just went Yeah, we're going to cut the onboards on that strike. J do that again. I think it's an audio processing thing that makes it sound even worse than it would at the track. already having been to Miami You look at the cars on track and they you see so much more when you're there in person. TV sort of flattens everything and TV audio flattens stuff even more And you could hear. Like I heard this cars in real life and then I listen to them on TV. I'm like, Ohh wow, that's like really the the onboards are the worst for the them Yeah they're terrible. And the cars were crushingly quiet as well again in real life. I really noticed at Miami, but in Miami it was kind of It was a slow corner that we were at hanger straight fairly quick and they were so quiet. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying They was they were so quiet. It's weird. It ain't NASCAR. No, anymore So Sean's asking, how's the hospitality? How did you find it Um well, where we were, I don't know. I don't often go to Formula one races and also get golf lessons. So for me, this was like the perfect thing. When did you get golf lessons? I told you the McLaren golf people were there and they had a simulator. Alex was in the simulator. I said you do the simulator I'm like No, it's sweaty And I don't want to get sweaty and B can't drive downforce cars in the same. Oh, well, that's the Visa simulators. They also had a golf simulator and Pedro who was part of the I was I think it was Anyway, I got a free golf lesson and they said very nice things about my swing even though I hadn't been practicing and was very very good s. I was fifth in the closest to the pen competition in this emulator, having not swung a club in several I felt good about that. So already I'm happy. Then they had espresso. That was also really great. and Alex had such a Just watch the noise get on unless you got to keep it r out there. A I driving off your Yeah obviously you can'tar it. That is the only challenge Yeah Seun says, I'm glad the cars are quiet, cars battling, don't need to be screaming at each other while they do it. Honestly, it's fine. You get used to it immediately. Like on the TV you can choose volume, can't you? Yeah on TV, you can just choose the volume. You know, maybe in real life, you can have some of those headphones that do ambient sound and then turn it up. If you if you desperately need to be deafened didn't go for it. It was pretty cool. I'm in the hospitality immediately as we walked in I got to see Nigel Mantll Wh's apparently a good golfer as well. Yes And we saw the TV as well N quite as excited about Latifi, if I'm honest as I was about Nigel Mantl. Nigel Mantancel was my first, I would say motorsport hero, like L Liono for sure winning his world Championship. like he was he was Formula one. And then when he came back from Indy, I went back and it had another run in the in the McLaren But they couldn't he couldn't fit So I had to like do an extra big cockpit to do it. He looked fine. He looked in fine look really Yeah look ye. And he had his mouache. Yes. Craig Mancesel did have a mstache which I was concerned about. So when they told me And I don't think we're really telling tales here that there's a possibility we're going to get tiny possibility a Liono will chat to us when we're on the stage. I don't think we can record it. but so there's a possibility that I might talk to him. I was a bit worried that he might not have a muststache And if he doesn't have a moustache, then I don't know what to do, I wouldn't know what to do. So I wouldn't wanted to bring a fake moustache in case he didn't have one. You wouldd just stare at the whole we of the m muststache wise the whole time and awkward.. Or I'd be he'd be talking to me and bed go Oh yeah, so when I was driving the Williams in the eighties he's not that bad Brumyac. But and then the whole time I'd just be putting my finger up. in my eyeeline to his moustache, pretending My finger was his mache. That's the only way I could do, please tell me if your head Okay, good talk. Yeah. Stop moving. Please stop moving.'t I can't that. And we'd have to edit in, wouldn't we somehow let say. But yeah, like I was very emotional when I saw him a promper sporting hero I wouldn't want to hug off many people, but I think tomorrow if we speak to Nigel, I might have to go U feeling a bit low at the moment, Nigel. you're my first mark sportter hero. I'm not a hugger and in fact, you know, I agree with that person in The John Sener Hero movie. What was that one called I pis sure. Anyway there' one of the side characters in that right What's the worst thing in the world humuman touch. Yeah I'm not quite like that, but I'm not a hugger But yeah, I would I would put myself in a position where he would feel like the social norm in that position would be to hug me and then always say I hugged Nigeer Mountor and he's basically my dad And he would be. Isn't that the deal? someone you're pretty much their parent from then on. No know, Summerers is not related to Nigel Manll. It's just that I only have one West countountry accent and so anyone from like Birmingham, Telford gets the same It's the same thing Gal Night. Oh no Yeah then we saw Latifi. So Nicholas Latifi, ex Williams Canadian driver was deJing yesterday I don't know if he was DJing today. Is that his gig now don't know. I mean, there's another former driver who became like a proper property He was a Bem' teammate at Toro Rasso Algushari. Yes, thank you. Jamie Algwar I did that as a quiz question We were at the Miami Beach thing with the ringer.ight with Meg. peopleople are really't even think we're too fabulous to actually have this show anym. No, I know. it's so good. It on it Oh that's such an egooost don. Now Netflix is the ringer. Spotifies the ringer. It spaners Meg and I'm like, that's me. And then they went out there so I did a quiz and it was all basic questions and I sort of ramped up because it's a lot of newer fans in America as well.. Ramped up the questions and then the final one was This driver is called Jamie Algoshwari, Spell it And so you're looking at like a couple of hundred of people with their phones out going, Ohh my go, Yeah Three people got it. They had to have Googled it. They had to have cheated. That's that is that is indeed one of your tougher spellings. but Happily you only need the first three letters if you're looking at a leaderboard. A L G E R S U No, I wouldn't have got it, Yeahah. But Yeah, it's funny seeing Nicholasaatifi there and go, how many seasons did he have right He had a reason like a proper you know Yeahah. he's a big fellow as well But for a racing driver, racing drivers are sort of my size around. I'm the perfect racing driver' size These like a big feelllly looks like six one or something. six one, six two. Yeah that caused trouble for him like seat and design wise? because There are certain teams that we're notorious for gettingting drivers that are the ly the same size so they don't have to deal with fitment issues like that you go well,'ve lost we've lost one driver. we've got Ocon, We we need to have another Ocon shaped driver. Is there a big one al there. Yeah. Yeah. we need sorry, we need a big one. But Antonlli' available. Now, it wouldd be a hassle. We'd have to Antoneelli S. I think A Russell. Looking at him, I would guess.s He's more Lewis sizeed than Russell. So Lewis is like an inch taller than man 'm guessing Antonlli. I'm guessing Antoni's going to be five six. We're looking at it up now the glories of the interternet five seven, so just about the same as me. Yeah, you know A little fella But ye at least he's little all over. I was shopping my son had his pump He's the same height as me now, but he's only sixteen. I've seen him before. like yeah, but he's actually kind of riped because he's likear I know you Oh yeah, he might be aware of it. My son is sitting there and he's got I'm like put your show on put your sh show on you're making dad feel bad. Six pack. he's got the the pecs and everything. He's about my height, Yeah, but very kind of lean A lean main machine. So he's obviously got five years of growing potentially. So I'm hoping he'll be like five, ten. That seems to be where he's projected to go. Not that there's anything wrong with us battle dwarf proportion people, but we're shopping we've got our friend the fashion lady you m who's helping us. And u, You know, he's got that figure where everything fits in his size in the show W on a clothes horse, like clothes horse. anythingy on him and it look pretty good because of his proportion. And I'd look at the sh like t shts he'd pick up and I'm like, I'd look at the big boy version. I'm like, I just know Yeah The one that fits my shoulders is going be come down to my knees going to be horrible And I was saying to him Do you enjoy it? You enjoy it now having that that figure because Before long, the family curse will hit and you will have the same basic dimensions as a Lord of the Rings Battle dwarf Yeah. age will eventually catch up with you one way or. it doesn't have to. So when I was in my twenties, I did a lot of strength training given my role. A my role in this universe I letent my body in service and so my shoulders were. And I turned into roughly ball shaped. but yeah Y Lifi A seemed to be having a very good time. He seem in good spirits If Latifi was a few inches smaller, he'd be a ten time world champion. That's controversial You might have had an easier time saying on now The thing about hospitality Is we going talk about the people that are we can talk about sort of like we got to see Alex was with me yesterday. we got to see Behermman in the car park and o made him laugh with a remark. Well done for him. It did seem like a genuine laugh as well, notot like Oh yeah, it was completely a hundred percent M him laugh for realel, not just him But the truth of the matter right, six foot in theat Tifi. Well, done, yeah, Well done. The truth of the matter is the only reason to get hospitality is the traffic and parking Oh, I disagree. I disagree a little bit. R. So never I've never paid for hospitality, right? Right obbviously. I'm a man of neeither one of us can actually afford that. So the fact that we have it means we got it some other way. It just makes no sense. like you have to have like money What's the money where you have to have like We're not the people on the helicopters flying in the whole afternoon. You have you know the money that's like, I can just do what I want money.ah basically. I know exactly. So they're the people kind of in hospitality or people if you are stretching to make to spend, what is it like five, six, seven grand for a weekend If you if you If you if that hurts you in any way or affects you, and you still do it, that feels like a dumb expenditure go in the stands. Yeah yeah, yeah.. You can to have a great time in the stands. The food stands are really good right here in Miami. You can have a great time Fantastic. Yeahah So do think there's more because we've been invited a few times. So I've been invited to hospitality twice in Miami thirird time in Agston, by the way, just sting third time. No, what' happened? The monitor turned off. Oh there we go. I think came back Pro probably overating. What's going on there? the aspect ratio, but I think that's on the monitor now. Oh yeah, o that's Yeah, ye. I disagree that it's just the parking and the No, no, no, no. Iant of all the benefits of hospitality Yeah The one that actually is worth the most Yeah is not having to wait on the massive line to get into parking the stadium but having your own secret little back door that's right by a gate that has a line of like ten people on a Saturday. Yeah. that is good, but I think there's a much more important thing that you're missing which is worse. How come on, can we not feel just like a little bit fancy Can I not just feel like, o, Yeah No, you should. I felt amazed. and then I realized, oh, look. I have this little badge and now I'm a special person. I can go do anything. Oh no, I can't do that one thing because I got kicked out. but I can do anything but that thing while I'm there and I can just say it's my job because I'm doing content creation. We may have lost the street. Oh, that was so good. ' it died. We're back. Are we back Oh that must have been that maybe that was a weird monitor thing. Yeah We're still seeing an error on YouTube so keep us updated Are you saying that Yeah, I just saw Stewart's comment. Oh yeah, I've got I've got thumbs up that we're back. Hey it's not bad. I think we're going to do the race review like this where they'll upload like a real version Yeah as well like local recquord' better quality, but yeah U yeah, maybe. Yeah. Well, there we go. this u didnn't have free champagne or it wasn't that kind of hospitality. It was basically like a hotel. And then it had an area with the stage where we're going to be and then you could buy food and buy drink It is lovely when you roll into like the paddock club or like Red Ball pole position or whatever and it's just a free bar and there's food knocking around. It does feel like you're being spoiled. Yeah. So if I could afford that without having to check my bills. J, could if I could afford that without thinking how much money is in my bank I would always ye. That's my favorite wife story C it. first race she ever went to was the Formula E race in Brooklyn. Oh yeah. And it was Matthew Carter was actually going to come down for that, but it was just after COVID. had a young child and chose not to. And so he let me use VIP tickets to that was a Huga Boss social club, which is sort of the formula e equivalent of the Paddock club So her first experience of going to a race, unlike mine in a sweaty, smelly media center was showing up, being giving super nice things, being escorted into this place where immediately likeike you haven't even pulled your chair back up at the table and they're like, here's here's here's some sparkling alcoholic beverage and here's Lus to food items, we'll start you with this, but here's a menu so you can order and every time they came by, like those steak places J more food, more food, more food, more food and But that's it, then I couldn't take it any other races because I couldn't actually afford that on my own. got like. Yeah. We were in the general admission here and it was good, you know, there's food available, but know, there's queues, no one's bringiant to you on a trail. You've got to go and que up at the van. Yeah, I would definitely always do it. And also is just that bit more comfortable, You've got your air conditioning It's better shade, you have you know have services more easily available with smaller lives. So I'm in the mix in between. so I couldn't afford to just casually go it would be a stupid decision Yeah if I paid for hospitality for the weekend at Silverstone It would be a really dumb decision and my wife would rightly be pretty angry It would be a terrible decision, says the man who plays Trumpet for a living. Yeah. However, we do have enough opportunities where at this point We can sort of wait until there is an opportunity Yeah. People would like us there for reasons and that's cool too. At the moment, m happening a couple of times a year. So you go Well, is it worth me booking my tickets for anything or shouldall I wait until something The funny thing is is it really I was to go to a race and have none of this would be two dissimilar to Having this, but then having to pay all the extra stuff to get there unexpectedly. You know what I mean? Yeah. So it kind of works out, but My wife and I have decided to go on holiday all weekend at Silverston. Yeahah, Mr. Mount Castle, that is absolutely It's basically the price of a family holiday. Y. a good family holiday. Really good family holiday. yeah. All right. well yeah, there yeah. so it's good. I do like it. It's a treat when it happens, but If we had to go and do our stuff at Miami and put on a show with normal just grandstand tickets, which we've done in the past that's, you know we have great too Yeah Any kind of rice stuff? any kind of what about that, theestapen chop? We never saw it. But Russell was really fighting Vstnaappen hard Yeah. and it did look like going down the Wellington Straight G Stappener, tellell us in the chat, have you seen a replay of it? becausecause they were again, guys You can have an opinion on an incident Why wasn't there a replay It looked like a really, really late blocking move from us And I would love to have had the opportunity to have another look at it. Was there a skypad? Did they look at it on the sky pad? or was it ignored? And that was my issue On the last race, I had an opinion. Yes, you did. I did. Wait, no, you opinion? never. I had an opinion a Stamp' move on Hamilton And and I've looked back because the onboard was available later on And it was obviously available if you're watching it live. but yeah he he doesn' he doesn't open up the steering, which it looks like on the offboard, but he certainly kept the steering open and then had to compensate for the line he took. R. I stand by like to me that is what it looked like. And then today there was a very, very rough chop didn't have the opportunity to see is this, you know, was this above board or not, but certainly if it was in the braking zone. then that's if it started breaking, that was definitely far too late. It looked late. whyy wasn't there a replay? That's all I'm asking. I'm just asking questions J just asking questions You want to get your backyard summer ready, but you don't want to break the bank? Wayfare gets it. Pning on dining alfresco or relaxing poolside Wayfair has everything you need to prep your space. Shop now and save up to seventy percent off during Wayfare's Fth of July clearance. And I don't know, but because I have sort of noticed that when things are controversial Seeing if Matt had beer. He operates on beer like that road future armour with the water wheel. Oh no, this time I'm definitely not going to make it Oh I'll find the clip There is a trend to not show immmediately, controversial incidents. And I don't know if this is sort of a social media strategy from Lberty at large because drivers And I think rightly so, drivers You know, as even we ourselves know If you have any hint of head above the parapet, you become a target And if I am o I don't know. let's say Achon and I have an incident with o, I don't know. Alonzo The next thing you know, Ocon is as I think u doing had but someone else is getting like death threats by angry fans And it may just be a move by Formula onene to say, okay, great. We'll show you that replay, but not right now. We'll wait a while and make you wait for it till everyone has calmed down a little bit I hope that's what it is From my point of view, it does feel like they're trying to hide things if you do that. And so just tell me that. use the controversy. Yeah yeah. I understand. So it could just be unlucky that it's been Max two times. Yeah. Well, I mean, controversy, Max. mean He drives that way. It's a very effective way of driving, but it does generate controversy Is it because the move was on Russell and no one cares Maybe. I don't even think Russell complained about it. Oh my Godd. Did he complain about it on the radio D M aage? I mean, if we Please Send us the clip if you did, we'd love to hear hear himlaning.e I would just asse that Russell did complain about it. Did you catch Norris's comment? I didn't hear it but I keep seeing them the grandstand. So they were saying, Oh, on my grandstand. Yeah apparently it might be one of was going to steal fans from the Norris Grastand And Norris was like, No, my fans are better than yours. they're more engaged and there was a need for mine it's not an need to hire my fans I want to Yeah. I want to Yeah, I didn't I didn't buy mine from subscribers in Hong Kong. Yeah which is what I got accused of doing for my followers. But that way I need to hear the tone of that. Tell me that was like It was nasty. It was obviously wouldn't have been. sometimes you wonder like they know each other well enough that they know they're giving each other like good good good natured ribing. Is that what you call it? Yeah, but the problem is if you're friends and you give each other a good natured ribming, that's your mate saying it. but then when people join in and suddenly it's not your mate saying it and like, No, no, I've made the internet mad at you. It goes wrong very rapidly unfortunately, huh? Oh mate. rightight. So yeah, Russell was really in the wars there. So he I think Verstappen ruined his race as well. So Max actually had a bit of a bad day too Bad day that got worse. Yeah. So he started off in P three and then he dropped down to P six and basically just wrecked his cars and cars tyires fighting Russell. That was my surmise was he got sucked into the worars and sucked into being having a short sighted focus on Russell in a car that was way faster than his, ultimately and just spent too much resource trying to trying to fight Russell because I don't know. I get the I get the occasional vivebe that they don't always get alone D don't know about you but but and then that cost him the entire rest of the race. And then for qualifying, they made the car worse for him that even Isaac did better than him Yeah. so also Hjar looked o so they they made some changes, right? o? because Hadjar looked on top of him all through qualifying. Yeah, J just a little of the false downing. Whatever they thought was going to work absolutely didn't work Can we talk about No, that's the end. The success and reboot of Liam Lawson Yeah, go for it because my son's just sent me some Oh no something Is there an emergency there's something wrong with my phone Right. So for me, Lwson in this Race What was he? O he was like way up there. He his fight with Hjob You're on your own,ate do what I've got to do. I've got to help him get using our electronic doorbell. He'sign to Yeah half an hour. You're stuck with me for a bit. sorry. But of all the storylines Obviously you have the Hamilton one and the Antonelli one because clearly they get on evenven though Anton's got a better car right now But Lawson who went from being sort of this prize roookkie who who had been out of the sport. He'd been kicked out of F two. He had no right, He had no cash onene rerace that Marco saw the invite to come back to Red prromoted to the top team and I don't know. I always want I want to use words to ink exaggerate things, but then like I don't want to offend anyone, but basically they used him as a test mule for two races, then said he was too slow and sent him back know about you that seems like fairly un L behavior use for toxic And he's been now at a team with a really fast rookie who anytime the rookie does slightly better than him, there's immediately ninety nine stories about is his future? Is he over is Los and done, which happens every F one racer, and they have to increase the pace to keep your eyeballs attached And today he like just said, Oh, I see you, Isaac, but you know of you and you know what? I don't think you're going to be ahead of me even by the time we get in the race. It feels like a reboot. He's just gone from swaggering turn everybody off to oh, yeah, actually, you know, turns out, turns out he had sad childhood and he's triumphed over his adversity. So he was on the high performance podcast, right? Is that right? Yeah with Jake Conphrees. Okay I mean he's a very popular podcast and he's a very good presenter. I just I have some issues So I didn't I don't listen to it because neither do I. There's a certain part of that podcast that really irks me and that it is that he speaks to a lot of people from privileged backgrounds who tell hard luck stories so like He did the one with the chef, What was his name the Shouty? Gordon Ramseay.. And he was telling this story and he was like, yeah, I was really struggling. I couldn't get my business up and running. And then I got this really good piece of advice and it was basically someone telling him that he needed to sell his porsche to fund that it's like, well, you had a porsche at twenty nothing. Yeah. So like Yeah, and he did this big thing on Facebook where he said he described boy network. You know, he described privilege and using your connections, right? Yeah and then having other friends with their connections and you all helping each other. something which obviously I didn't have access to, you didn't have access to. but he was talking about it just got to work hard. You've got to put your things in, You've got to use your you got to help each other. you've got he just described privileged connection of networks, and then working hard off that, which I'm sure he did. but he seems to have this habit of peopleople it's what I call it was it Richid fiction, where they have to invent some law where they really had a struggle. and they didn't just get to this position by themsel by being an FO whatever. So when I heard someone say, Ohh, Lawson had this hard luck story on the high performance podcast, inststantly I just went, Ohh, it's just going to be another Stellia porsche. like you know, Oh we were so poor. We were down. we only had three staff in the house left And but you never know what has been sacrificed by a family to get someone because from New Zealand, that's a bit of a hike However, the story I'm referencing is that he was a red bull. He was dropped entirely had no more funding to New Zealand was doing some, you know, some very local single cedar thing started from the back because his car broken qualify won the race Helmet Marco, who apparently amongst all other things, also insomniac, saw the race in Germany live called him up and said We will offer you money to come back and race in Formula two. and from there He's made his own success. Now, does that mean he didn't have a privileged background? No, but like he legit lost the money he needed to stay in Europe. and to go home.ve just I've just heard so many. I know. Pe understand that that appeals, that narrative appeals to people. So most of the people that are successful comfort privilege. Obviously most of the people the pop stars, actors, race car drivers, most of them, even presenters, right? E if you see a noe like there there is one very high profile presenter And the story they tell is Oh yeah, I was scraping by, following around the series or whatever. you know, sometimes I was short of money for my motor home. But dude You had a mother home. Yeah Someone brought you remote home. Stop it. Stop it stop it, stop it, stop it. Yeah But yeah so but then the things is they don't know. that they have privilege. so something that you always have to look for the thing that gives it away But I just don't know why kids from these very comfortable upbringings I feel the need to create a hard luck story What was the other one with the Sergeant They had one year where they kind of weren't sure about their funding And that was used to deny that he was ever a pay driver Ive had people angry at me suggesting that Sergeant aid for his F one seat. everyveryone pays for their F one seat one way or another in Well, no, I mean, even at the lowest lowest level Let's take someone we know who didn't have a super privilege was how Wow Right, his dad still had enough money. He gave him a cart. He didn't He been the rich kid. Right I'm sorry. here but this is what I'm saying. likeike it's in context, it's a relative thing relelative to everyone he was racing against, he had far less resource, but that's not exactly the same m is saying I didn't have dinner three nights a week because that was that or rent I'm making the same point as you. He wasn't he wasn't putting fifty peas in the in the mia, was he at home to make the leucky come on. Oh, that's right, there's the heat. You guys do it was the electricity for us. o. If you defaulted on your electricity bill They would put you they would put a box in. the thing right? That's Yeahah, yeah, yeah. Oh man. N not only was the rate more expensive R, but if you ran out of credits,' just like if you ran out of credits, the lights literally turned off. Yeah. And so you'd have to scramble, what have we got under the sofa? what's fallen out of Dad's pockets? Go to the shop and buy like a car for like five pounds Yeah put it back in They did some grace. you could press an emergency button and that would keep the lights on for for maybe, you know halffim or something. Yeah. to to escape the fire. Okay. So Louis Hamilton by the mere dint of having a go cp bought for him is the rich kid in my group of friends. Like these is still a very comfortable privileged kid for his dad to be able to be in a position to then to actually go and fund his racing for any amount of time. But this is what I mean by everyone pays for it one way or another.'re not getting me you're not getting that ship off my shoulder I'm not asking you to take it off. My point being everyone pays for it And that means you have to have money to start with, enough to start And then if you're successful early enough, you might get a team to help you out some. But you're still at a disadvantage to people who have more money because they have more track time, they have more resource, they can buy teen sets of tyres for the go kart and pick the best one set for the race and use it in one race and then have more. Yeah ye yeah, yeah yeah. Apparently that was the thing with Hamilton is that There was people would run his engines in and then they pick the best engine and give it to Tamilton. Yeah ye. ye. And so you get this across the board. And the reason I even bring it up tangentially I think they interviewed Akon recently and he said that if looking at what carton costs now. He could not have afforded to have become H up? He says, it would have been too expensive for my family for me to actually become a racer That's not a good thing for the sport guys. It's just you might want to have a Yeah, it's terrible But what I'm saying is on that particular part or TV show, whatever it is I think they really love those stories. I think there's a producer who says, Yes, Liam, honestly. Jake absolutely pretretend you're poor. Jake absolutely loves that. Pretend you're poor My wife entertainment part of her university training, getting her equivalent of a doctorate worked on TV show, a very long running TV And it came about the reason Nine times out of ten on the show, it was the rich guy and he went to jail everybody lo that? Yeah.er This is what is what your producers discovered. Everybody loves Sob story, rags to riches, Fmula Dver. It's like the tal The talent showose the tellell him your grandma's sick good story dad is at the hospital?ow p harsh. F few more notes because we're hungry. And this is only the saddest dre. we'll catch you guys tomorrow Similar setup but Van Jine's going to be here as well. Where's he going to sit? not in my lap? I've got to have to set up another cam we had to give c. Yeah. We'll have this. So this one, I've just been lazy and just done this as a thing which we did in Miami as well Right Tomorrow, I'll put some effort in and I'll actually like have different scenes and stuff. George Ea. Qion mark, Stroll beats Alonzo again Is that car? whatever. So yeah, As long as you're still trying, right? I you're still trying to do race cars, right? But this is the, you know, you mentioned earlier, is Russell versus Lewis doing million experiments on the car? who doing a million experiments in the car? Do I know? I don't know. Is he?? Al long as is my age. Op question. As long as is my age. I'm sure he's a better athlete than I am But I've not been unsporty in my life.. I was a warrior at one point, you know, I was magnificent. I didn't know that. Same age as Alonzso. You saw me walking down the stairs at the bus. A wow. I saw you trying to kneel down behind the monitor cable. So Alex had he was like, you okay. It was like, yeah just go ahead, just go ahead. And this was not on this was in the hospitality. He said, Yeah just if there's no rush, I'd like to take one step at a time, please. It's just a lot easier And then we're all in the bus complaining about our backs and our wrists and whatever. so Alonso's forty five years old, he shouldn't be doing this anymore. He should be promoted to a management level He deserves a rest I don't know what's happening. If this is two If stroll starts routinely qualifying ahead of Alonzo, then is the bar Set there Can I set the bar there? If Stroll beats Eondo in the next two Can we say Alon is probably not as quick as it used to be There's got to be a limit. There's got to be a line where we can start saying that That's an interesting question because essentially you're saying where does it stop being noise and become signal? And the problem with Formula one cars is they change every single race. It makes it very tricky to pnd down The plausibility for me is that if you werere going to ask someone to evaluate radical experimental changes that might make the car better I'm guessing Alonzso would be the guy to do because he would give you accccording to him, at least a half second. I mean, imagine how some the Asron be without the half second that he brings to it So yeah, you're going to give him the changes and say, are these better? And he'll be like, no, but thankfully it was only three tenths of a second because I gave the eight tenths, five tenths back Okay I tried. I tried. I thought that might go somewhere. I'll do my sad one now to end with can I end with a well, not a I've got an end with. Well then you end with it and I' No tomorrow. No, no, no, it's fine. Don't say end with it because I'm ending with it. anultimate thing you can have. C I have the penultimate? You can have a penultimate thing. That's a great word. I love that word The fan that I'm met. the car park when I was with Alex was not only from my home city
