You're listening to Nightmare on Film Street O in time is six hundred sixty six. Traffic is clear ahead from here to the afterlife. But it's hell outside So let's give a grave welcome to our hosts, John and Kim Hello again Fiends and welcome back to the season finale Nightmare on Film Stre I'm John. I'm Kimi. And today we are talking about a movie that so many people have asked us to do A movie that neither of us had seen before. No. And a movie that is going to completely give away what this season's secret theme has been. Yeah, it absolutely had to be the season finale film. And was the justification the reason for the season? Yeah, actually totally makes sense now. usually we say that all the time Usually not talking about seasons At the end of the episode, we are going to give you what the actual theme is. I think you're going to be able to predict it just based on what we're talking about today. We're going to announce the winner who guessed the theme first and Kim's also going to pick a couple lucky winners out of the boo bucket here who also guessed it correctly, but not first. So we've got all the names in there as a randomized draw. We're going to pick a winner who smart enough to figure out our Secret ruse. And we'll send them a t shirt. That's right. Yeah I don't know how I missed this movie completely. It came out in nineteen ninety eight. I was the perfect age. Yeah Yeah, I don't know where we were. I don't know what was going on. I don't know I didn't watch this. This should have been on YTV every single night. Maybe it was. L maybe we just missed it because it's just like in nineteen ninety eight, there's so much horror stuff going on. You know, We've got goose bumps, We've got arere you afraid of the dark? Why did we not see it in one of those Halloween month spectacars where it's nothing but spooky shows every day all of October. Thats YTV was really good about having spooky programming spooky season. I watched most of my freaky stories and goosebumps and Are you Afraid of the Darks during October. And they would marathon the shit out of that stuff. Why was there no Scooby Doo on Zombie Island? There might have been. I think there's a prediction I have is that I loved the Scooby Doo show obsessed with it, watched it every single day. it was always on. Clearly it's a show from the seventies, We're watching reruns In the nineties, there were a lot of movies being made that were adaptations of TV shows. Even just like Disney doing And your discernible ten year old self Yeah I was like, this is going to be no good. It's gonna be trash. I think I'm going to pre curate this. I will not be watching it. Well, I mean, like Disney would put out like a sequel to Aladdin and then like another sequel to Aladdin. TV show The more that you got copies of a property or a thing that you liked, usually it was a diminishing returns situation, right? So I probably just avoided it thinking that the movies were no good. I don't think I've seen many sccooby doo movies. I've seen a couple, but This is clearly the best one, maybe that I just completely ignored. M my sccooby doo content came from Canada's Wonderland growing up because there was a Hannah Barbera land And there was a lot of sccooby content, including the Ghostter coaster. That' true whichich was the best roller coaster ever. Right? It's a roller co undernder ten. It's like a roller coaster that's also a shootem game, you know? No, that's not it. That's Scooby Doos Haunt M manansion. Okay That was a further addition. Okay, there's that was a lot ofboo blasters and I don't think it's scoob Doo anymore because of course Canada's Wonderland is now a six flags park Yeah. used to be owned by Paramount and then It was so cool. It was a paramount themed amusement park. There was just like top guns. It was like going to Disney or Universal, but it was like paramount stuff. So like the Waynees World car was there. The godfather there. There's tons of top gun and tob Raider Ephemera around. It was awesome And now it's just sort of like a generic amusement park. Yeah. There's a lot of Canadiana in this episode, by the way. So let let's roll back a little bit. W Freaky stories kind of like a Tales from the Crypt show. Gotta check it out. So great. YTV?s Canada's version of Nickelodeon. And did you go to Wonderland as a kid? Did I? Yeah. All the time Why did you not know what the Ghostter coaster was? Iostter coaster was like a maybe mind buster. As soon as I was tall enough to go on real adult roller coasters, I was like that kid lay is kids shit. So I was going on the Ghostter coaster up until I really didn't fit in the seats anymay. It was a miniature it's a miniature wooden roller coaster and you like it's designed I swear so it can be an adult in one kid, but it is like barely an adult. We're talking about an adult and an infant. Oh, and your knees are like crammed against the car. Well, and also all wooden roller coasters kind of got like Retrofitted for all of the new restrictions. So they they used to be bench seats with a pull down bar and now now they have individual bars that are like foam padded and the seats are lined with cushioning. Can't fit in. You lose like four inches on each side And they did not make the coasters any wider. Dang you fuck Th those coasters are still running. They're just like, look, you're gonna crush your knees, you're gonna get a headache and you're gonna love it But the Ghostter coaster was great. It was kind of Our version of haaunted Mansion, at least the lineup because you got to line up through a bunch of like fun punny tombstones and you'd go through like spooky shacks and stuff on your way up to the coter. It was the best thing to do in the summertime, right? Because you're just like no one else is giving me Halloween right now. I'm going on the Ghostter coaster. So good. Maybe part of the reason why I'm spooky was the Ghostter coaster infiltrated my bones I would say part of the reason I'm spooky is definitely Scooby dooo. Wed it every single day, was obsessed with it. So yeah, surprising that we haven't watched this movie. E as adults, like at this point, it' now there are plenty of people that have been telling us to watch it. so like we have had the influence, We've just been resisting it for whatever reason. I think it's another one of those things like how we waited so long with session nine. Okay to revisit it. Exactly in that we were like, this is going to be nightmare on Film Street material. This is going to be on the podcast don't want to 't want spoil these reactions. I think we have had this movie on the list a few times evenven back when we were doing double features, we're like, oh, this would be a good double bill with this movie. This would be a good double bill with this movie. And I gotta tell you, having just watched it, if I was hosting a double feature at the drive in, I'm gonna to start with Scooby Doo. That's the first movie I imagine Sleepwalkers. Holy shit guys. If you like sleepwalkers, you and you haven't seen this Scoooby do on Zombie Island movie Watch it tonight. Honestly, this scooby Doo on zombie Island movie would work with anything. There is so much in this movie. It's is it is it is almost like a gumbo. It is everything. What if that was the writer's room Everything in the pot. We got We got civil warar zombies. We' got pirate ghosts. Yeah we' Cat werewolves, we've got what else do we have Weerere Hot peppers. lotots of hot peppers. Yeah, there's ghosts, there's zombies, there's phantasms, there's murder potentially There's daboons.'s yeah, there's a whole lot. E tasure. Everything you would expect in a scooby doo story is here. There is even a montage at the beginning of this movie where they're just getting to New Orleans and they're ting around Louisiana and we're getting just Gimpses of incredible scooby doo episodes that you wish you could see the whole thing. They went through so many monsters in montages that I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, let's slow down Yeah Save a little bit for the rest of the movie. Yeah. so the premise of the story is that the Mystery Ink crew are getting kind of over all of their human Mystery solving that they're sick of everybody sh. They're everybody being a dude in a mask. And so at some point they split up, they go their separate ways. Shaggy and Scoob are working in the customs department. Great job for them. Perfect. Velma has a mystery ink bookstore which she likes, but she she says she doesn't want to be reading mysteries. she wants to be solving them. toooo smart for this. And Daphne and Fred have a TV show And called cooast to coast with Daphne And then they also make a joke about it being ghost to ghost. I hope Ar bell sued. I hope At Bell took them to court. Yeah, especially becausecause it was like paranormal and spooky stuff. Yeah. veryery, very closely related. And Dapanney's got a new segment on her show coming up. It's like haaunted America and they're going to tour around America and find real haunted locations. Yeah First up, they're going to New Orleans, which is superice Super amaz. Perfect place. But as soon as we get to New Orleans, they are just debunking mysteries left and right. We are checking all these awesome locations. There's this bat monster in a cemetery. There so there are eight movies of monsters in the New Orleans montage alone. There's a ghost in a haunted riverboat casino That's movie. That's the movie I want to see. Yeah. The settings are awesome. And I love that they went hard on the matte paintings. You can't talk about Scooby Doo without talking about the backgrounds The haunted house designs are so good M And the fact that they said it New Orleans was just such a great idea. Brilliant. Just purely for the background salone. Yeah, the crew eventually makes their way to a spooky island, Moonscar Island. whichich is barely an island. It's like an island off of the bayou. so they get to take a cool ferry boat I guess it's by definition it's an island. It's a little tucked away. It's where the hottest peppers in Louisiana are grown and it's also home to a real ghost, whichich they overhear while eating benets at L Market in the morning. The cook who works at Moonscar Manor overhears them talking about wanting to see a real haunting invites them up to the aisle Yeah. And so they immediately are just Destroying that house. they've got one thousand cats, and of course Scooby is like not about that. Yeah. And he is just tearing the place the fuck up. And for some reason, the owner lady is like, oh, yeah, you could stay the night. This dog is ruining your property. She's clearly annoyed by it. They lie and say that he's good with cats. He's clearly not. I don't understand why she hasn't kicked them off the property mmediately becausecause yeah,'s ripping up the lawn. he's destroying furniture. He's pissing the cats off more than anything. and this is their island. The cats outn. I feel like the cats are are enjoying the mischief ' they laugh at him every time he does something stupid. The cats have so much personality in this movie. Like if you've, I don't know, if you've avoided Scooby doo because you're like, I'm not really a dog person. This is a cat ladies movie They get sccooby dude to chase them. he gets caught in a log and they're just like Like the cats are bitches in this movie. You get their name out your mouth. Man, a lot of fun hijinks in this just classic scooby dooe shit And stars horror icon Adrianne Barbau as Simone. Who is she? is she the main? Yeah. She's the lady who owns the plantation. All right. didid not clock that whatsoever until we were watching the credits. and it was like, holy shit, whoo the fuck? Mark Hamill's also in this, but I mean, he does a lot of voice acting stuff. Billy West is doing Scooby D. does Fy Who does Fy? drama. think he also does dgs Does he do Je? Billy West does everything at this point There's like four voice actors. These a pretty good shaggy. Yeah, reallyally good shhaggy. I was honestly like, is this too early for it to be Matthew Lillard? But when did the Scooby Do live action movie? I think that came out in like two thousand one. Yeah, I'm like that's a interesting really. It's an island live action movie. I wonder if they got the idea from They're probably doing around the same time as this came out. Yeah, maybe. I mean, animation takes a while. movies take a long time anyway, but you're probably right. like they knew what they were working towards and spooky island is like we got we got to lay the groundwork. If if these people are going to take a spooky island, we got to do it first Spooky Island is pretty great, though. Absolutely. It's a perfect spot And everybody's got the dg cjed accents. Oh, I was tal about the feature. Oh yeah, you mean the live action feature? Yeah yeah, it's incredible. We almost did it again for this podcast or we were gonna do the second one. but I think monsters unleashed. I think we've talked about both of them on the podcast before The second one's not good. I like the second one But what we figured we figured why not do something we haven't. I love that you ended with a period no no.'re like I like the second one. No, I will not be comment. I think I even looked away slightly. I could not invite criticism The thing about watching this movie and probably any sccooby Doo movie is that the entire time I just wanted to have a sandwich The whole time I was like, fuck I'm hungry man. Yeah. Like I have grown into being shged. There is a lot of sandwich porn in this A lot of sin. And they're in Louisiana, so it's like poboy born. There's gumbo. Fine, you just know that bread is fresh. It should be, but yeah, I really, really, really wanted a sin. What do you mean it shouldn't be? Poboy should be stale bread That's the whole That's the whole thing. Oh, well, they were at the market though Yeah, they're eating beenets. There's so much food and it's not even just shaggy and sccooby. like everybody is eating all the time or talking about food or just snackking. They' tourists. That's what tourists do. You eat. Yeah, I guess that's true. But it was also early in the morning. like we had not had breakfast yet already.inking I'm like fuck I really could go for a snack right now. And then we eat mister Noodle and it was Satisfying at all.on' tellem our secrets. Mrter Noodle for breakfast. All right, everybody likes a little bit of instant rum This set brought a lot of like hot pepper content and I know it was on a hot pepper plantation, but I had no idea that Jaggie and Scooby were so into hot peppers I mean, it's like being a cinified and being very into the toxic avenger. Like you just can't avoid it. Like hot peppers, they bring out flavor. I don't remember them being particularly obsessed with hot peers. But I just I consider them Well. A fellow Wussy as a fellow Wussy. takes one to know one and I don't like hot peppers because they're scary. Oh, you feel like you scary you like ghosts. They left you behind on this movie is what you're saying? I just I was just really surprised that that I didn't have a this edible arrangement in common with. Okay. Did at any point did you think that the hot peppers had something to do with the haunting because all of the spooky shit is only happening Like it wasinogenic. Yeah. Oh, that didn't occur to me but that's good. Yeah, because they were they were seeing shit that shouldn't happen. Like, you know, like they do they deal with plenty of situations where people are being levitated or there is There was a lot of levitation and I was like Ton of levitation. Wow, we are levitating off the bat. Where is this ghost gonna gonna take things? Yeah. a lot of peppers ghosts in the sccooby doo world. There's a couple of them on top. I have to say what pepperss ghost is becausecauseuse not a lot of people know what it is It's like the ghost that you see in the haaunted Msion. It's essentially like using a projector and a mirror to make something appear as though it's floating in front of you. It has that ghostly look, but it is just an optical illusion. It's how you make ghosts in an amusement park or in a carnival. Do you know why it's called a pepperss ghost? I think it's because of who invented it? I have no idea. Jiminy pepper. Oh my god. now it's really like damn, it really should have had something to do with all those hot peppers that they were eating. That would have been perfect. Like a peppers's ghost. Yeah. Or it could' have been laced with LSD, onene of the two.' like yeah, we seeing Green sppiral c sky and then lightning comes down and thenbs a skeleton with life, which then regenerates into a zombie and starts chasing them in a grave Incredible sequences in this movie and stuff that you like you're watching it and you're like this how how are they faking this? This is crazy. They're doing a lot of work for characters that aren't directly looking at them at the time. Like they can't even see what's happening right now. That's true. If it was a spectacle, it's just like no, will nobody's seeing that that pool of light growing behind them. Like they're in a hole right now. And shit's happening in front of them that that they really can't explain, which I mean, that's classic scooby doo stuff They don't know what's going on, but they're skeptical and by the end of it, they figure it out. But we roll back the tape where it's showing some writing that has appeared on the wall. and then we can see a ghost with a saber. It's just scrawling. The words get out into the plaster. Yeah, he needs a full like flying Dutchman ghost. G Yeah, if on one point they fall into a hole and then when they're trying to climb up, they pull a root and it unveils this skeleton And he's animated and you're just like, is this going to turn into a cave or something? Like no, it's just a big square hole. Yeah, just a grave that's waiting to bury them, I guess. Yeah, I was surprised, but it was the kind of the intro to our zombies L like, oh, there's bodies buried all over this island because the zombies at first it's kind of like just pirates and then it's like civil warar zombies. and you're like, okay, all this all makes sense. But then there' then there's tourists tourists with like cameras and flower shirts and you're like who are these? What's going on here? It's great. There is a collection of zombies. Of course, we've also got like a bit of a suspicious character, a new gardener who's only been with the plantation for a few months. He's gruff, he's, you know, up to something, but we can't figure it out. There's also a guy who's trying to hunt a catfish. Wh' just kind of mean there. Yeah. He's mean, he's there. He's got a warartthog instead of a dog And that's about it. He doesn't really come back into play. You would expect him to show up in the third act to do something, rescue them, provide a little bit more end up being a nice guy or. Nope, no no, just he's just around. Yeah. ye. you just need more more suspicious characters because especially too, you are trying to figure out who's doing this. Because as as is custom with Scooby Doo someomebody is behind it. Somebody's trying to keep people off the island, maybe because they're looking for the treasure. There's always's There' plenty of reasons like S sometimes it's just real estate. They want to protect the pepper farm. Yeah. Oh yeah, that's true. Sometimes it's a matter of people wanting to preserve heritage buildings. A lot of times it is real estate. Yeah. It's just like they're just trying to spook people away so they can snap it up at like pennies on the dollar And then I don't know revamp it into condominiums. There's a lot of real estate. Even the beginning, the cold open of the movie, the villain is revealed to be a realtor, but he wasn't doing it for the property value. He was just prrinting money in the basement. Yeah. he was just making counterfeitills in the basement. He didn't want anybody I got a good racket here. This is a good basement. No one'll go in the Hunted castle. Yeah. That castle setting is really good too, especially for just being a cold opener.'re like, yo, they're in the best castle. They put so much effort into so every corner of this movie and then they just said, yeah, forget it. Like we got a dynamite idea, but it's nothing. It's just a quick little jaunt into it like another avenue for this story The main story is still also pretty amazing Mostly because yeah, it's ghosts, it's zombies, it's everything you need. It's also voodoo man. Wherewolves? Where aolves? Where cats? Yeah, they are Th like a I assume eternal, like they seems like it It's been alive for like two hundred years because they they worship this cat god and then the cat god like bestowed them some catability. They're like, Hey, w why are you cats? Like Well we were worshiping our cat go. like, Oh, yes, of course. Ohh yes, of course. Yeahah, that pilgrim cat And then they u to eat people like before the moon on cat day.' It's the harvest moon, Kim. They have brought people over for the harvest moon On cat and they are going to harvest their souls on cat day. Okay Yeah, they have to So the cats are innocent in this like they're regular cats. Yeah they're just regular cats. They're just like, we don't want any part of this. Just give us our bowl of cream. Yeah, they're just I mean, they're they're knowing They're implicit in the murder of all of these tourists, but we all think they're cute so they get away. Do't they get aiding and abetting? Yeah, exactly E Simone and the cook. They are immortal. They are cat people and they as normal as you would expect, Daphne finally gets her dream of discovering a case that is actually supernatural, but they drop the camera in a bog It's the camera, all the evidence is c. Always a bog. Always a bg. If it's not quQicksand, it's a bog and But they make it out with their with the, you know, they make it out alive. They're able to sort of stop the cat people before they can harvest their souls and then they turn to dust pretty cool. Yeah because they run out of time. but the the voodoo is so surprisingly effective in this because voodoo dolls are made of the mystery the mystery Ink gang. Yeah. and It is They are slapping each other. It's the reason why they're levitating. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They tied up the voodoo dolls and then they therefore were tied up. Yeah, there is a harrowing moment where those wax dolls fall next to a flame and their faces start to melt. It was terrifying. For a G rated movie? Terrifying. They were melting like wax So scary. Loved it. Yeah, it was very good. That's all to say that at the end of the movie we discover what the hidden agenda is for these people on Skar Moon Island But it is supernatural. It is supernatural whichich is a huge departure from everything else Scooby Doo has ever done. And I wonder if that is the reason why most people consider this the best Scooby Doo. That is very good Very good, but is it really just the surprise that they have done something different What are your thoughts? How do you feel about them actually encountering a supernatural foe U I think it was all dream Okay, that checks out I think the peppers were lliced with that I now that I think about. Maybe. Yeah, I don't. I don't know if I can consider it to be like Canon because it's right so magical. Yeah And got got Scooby doo. We got cat werewolves. We got real zombies. The zombies end up being the good guys, which I kind of like Yeah like the zombies were warning them and the ghosts, the like the The pirate ghost was writing like getet out on the wall. Yeah and there's like getet out because you're gonna to get eaten. They were going eat you. Yeah They were going to turn you into a zombie ghost. Yeah, real Gerbaldl Toro ghost situation where they're super spooky because you're terrified of them, but they are genuinely trying to warn you of a danger a him. There's actually one moment in one of the montages where Shaggy and Scooby are running away from the zombies in the woods and Scooby falls into like a pond or something and there's like a gar coming and Shagy's like, o, how do I get them? And then a zombie taps him on the shoulder and just hands him like a swinging vine. Yeah. And he just vines and catches Scooby, but we don't visit it at all. and it isn't until like twenty minutes later that we realize the zombies were good guys and you're like, o that that makes sense They were just playing it for a gag. Yeah, like that's the thing. you just think it's a zainy little gag in this cartoon show. But yeah, totally purposeful. It helpful. It wouldouldn't make any sense if they weren't helpful ghosts I Don't know how I feel about it because I think Scooby Doo should exist in the real world and they shouldn't encounter anything. The dog talks, John. Okay, well, Rob The dog's not a great talker. Rats Okay, I guess I just I always appreciate that it always ends with them discovering who villain is I do like that they are all they are actually there to solve a mystery and it isn't just like Is this house haunted or not? Yeah. And because if you if you discover in the end, it's just a ghost and it's like, well, did we solve a mystery? The mystery is Wh can be punished for this? Yeah, because the mystery still lives, right? Like What's a ghost How do ghosts exist that they didn't solve anything? Yeah, I guess the myster here is like What's going on this island and what's going on this island is its a bunch of cat werewolves eating tourists. Yeah, and we find that the gardener' a cop who's trying to investigate all the missing people. He's gone deep undercover, which is why he's so mad about gardening and when the dog rips everything up because he's like, I'm not a fucking gardener. Why do I have to go? Yeah It took me all day. Yeah he was like, I spent a whole week on that pot. You're like, a week pllanted pot They should the only reason he has not been fired by this family is because they're going to eat him. like he sucks at gardening. Yeah mayaybe the reason why they have a new gardener is because they ate the last one. to be. Yeah to be. Well so another weird thing though is that it's not just the two ladies that are cat werewolves. Yes. They've also turned the ferrymen into a we at Y, ye. He wanted immortality and they needed somebody to take them to the shore. But imagine getting immortality It' like congratulations. You're now our ferryman for all eternity. I mean, it seems like they get to just live life as normal except when the harvest moon comes out or maybe it's like on any full moon they become cat people There's going to be some trade offffs if you're going to live forever. I guess for the most part, they're not so bad. like they are living isolated on an island Yeahah, they're m they're murdering people. They're not so bad. They are some of the most prolific killers we've had in the last. But they are mostly minding their own business. Yeah. A so like we talk about how the island was like this prolific pepper farmer. they have the hottest peppers in all of Louisiana Is she doing that as a business? I have no idea. I don't know if anybody's there harvesting The peppers are growing. They have too many hot peppers to eat themselves. I think. They've got to be selling to be selling them. How else do you pay for the taxes on the property Like you can live for two hundred years, but at some point, you're gonna to have to pay your taxes. It's like vampires though. You're just like infinitely wealthy. Yeah, you just keep collecting wallets That's all it is. tourists and wallets. They could still be living off those gold daballoons from the pirates because that's why we have such a collection of old ghosts, right? Like pirates that used to sort of sneak in here to evade the police or to hide their booty. They would essentially get kidnanpped by these werearecats and get eaten. so any valuables that they had immediately became their own Yeah. It was so much fun. L I really enjoyed watching this movie. but I do feel a little bit weird about ending the season on it Because the entire theme. We have' sort the theme of this movie though, is the theme of the podcast. Just because the ending doesn't comply doesn't mean Okay All right, I buy that. I buy that. So we're still we're still on point. This wasn't a horrible decision. Yeahet, the theme is correct. We hadn't seen it. We didn't know. We didn't know We didn't spoil it for ourselves. Would you like wouldould you like to tell everybody what the secret theme this season has been Kim. Would you like to tell everybody? The secret theme has been Scooby Doo horror. Scooby doo endings. Scooby doo endings. So a supernatural story or a scary story that appears to be supernatural, but in the end, A guy did it. A guy did it. Would have gotten away with it? if it wasn't for you pesky kids. For you meddling protagonist. Meddling. Yeah, exactly. So every movie that we have talked about this season has had some element of suspected supernatural evil, whether it's a werewolf or a ghost I say there is some ambiguity in some of them A guy was definitely involved. I was definitely the one committing. I'm just talking about session nine I think There something There was a lot of debate behind the scenes about session. I think there's something there. And I think yes, there is an am. But a guy definitely definitely did stuff. Definitely did stuff. Yeah. Invisible Man, great example. I think might have been an early clue for a lot of people. You know, a movie that is supposedly supernatural Eespecially because your big gripe is that it's a guy in a suit. Yeah, mayaybe I should have shut the fuck up during the recording of that podcast. There are so many This is the real problem with this season on the show is that it was so hard not to just say this fucking sccooby doo and you could just you can't use the word scooby doo. Eespecially for Housebound and a boy where it's just a dude in the walls. Yeah. We had a lot of really good guesses. Obviously we have somebody who got the who guessed the secret theme fairly early in the season actually. Everybody had two opportunities to submit guesses toward the end. We actually had a lot of people that guessed correctly But some of my favorite I think this was maybe our most correct guesses. I think so. off all the secret theme things we've done. Yeah. Some of my favorite non correct guesses though, because like early on it's hard to really guess what the theme is. There were a lot of people guessing like hiding out in the attic. Can you imagine if we all just did like G and Walls movie? It wouldn't be hard. Oh we almost did it. That's a funny theme though. like it said of G guys and dolls, G and Walls. Oh, okay. I like that a lot. There were some people that actually submitted titles for the theme the season that I thought were great. One of them is villain todayod, invisible tomorrow Well someomebody said that at one point were they were guessing that it was Walking Dead cast members. I guess a lot of the movies that we covered have somebody in the movie who was originally in the Walking Dead. The year ends in six. We might steal some of these for future themes. Dogs of the Dead was one of them, creepy castles and murder mansions And one of my true favorites. I feel like those are given with horror movies, though. Yeah, you're gonna get a lot of them no matter what. One of my true favorites You to brrowse Now I need to go back and like, wow, how many unibrows did we have in this season? Unibrows. Wow. Now I gott to watch the first few movies again. Yep, ye And imagine once you guessed two, your next room you're like, are you That is always the trouble with submitting a guess early on because you you're looking for that as a clue in the next movie. And like, yeah, there might be something thematic tie. See, that's why I allow two guesses rather than just one. So then you can kind of get your guessing in early if you're going for the like first to get it prize. Yeah. but then also Like we try to do some tricky stuff. Like I remember the first secret theme we did, we did a bunch of like cop thrillers up up at the front. Yes. And it was not about It was not about cop thrillers. That's the thing too, L when we pick up the movies, we have to sort of figure out how to structure it because you don't wantan to give it away immediately. You don't want too many movies with guys and addicts up front. guysys pepper a guy in a wall throughout the season. This sort of a misdirect, right But yeah, this has been a lot of fun to record. Congratulations to everybody who guessed correctly. And specifically, congratulations to William L. you . I was doing anir applause of silence. You were the first person to guess the theme correctly. Congratulations to everybody. A lot of people guessed it. I hope everybody had as much fun this season as we did. We have been wanting to do Scooby Doo horror for a while It was something that we talked about when we were still only doing like two episodes or two movies at a time in an episode. and we were like, this is such a waste to only do two movies. We should make this like a whole year long thing. The thing is is once we started doing it though, I had a hard time guessing them because someome close to fitting the theme but don't quite fit the theme. Yeah. There aren't as many supernatural but not really moovies as you think they're going to because horror does the thing where it wants to go out on a bang. So often you have something like Friday the thirteenth as an example We have a character who has a supernatural setup. It has a supernatural setting and we have a very real human killer, but we go out on one last little scare that sort of implies a supernatural element And then the further you get into the seas the season, the series It becomes very supernatural. So there are plenty of horror movies that fit the sccooby doo theme but then end on a oh but It is actually supernatural. Right of the thirteenths might apply though, if we were to do it for the season. I think we could stretch it because yeah, But you are making a statement about that final scene. You have to look at the first movie on its own. like that's a dream. a one hundred percent' a dream It's a dre And you have to pretend it's nineteen eighty and you did not watch any there are no further films. Yes It's a shame they never made a sequel to this But that's been this season of the podcast. We will be back again soon. We're still going to be recording drive home from the drive in reviews of current movies that are in the theater. We'll have the occasional interview. if there's a filmmaker that that we really want to talk to on the podcast.
