We can't say no You've switched to Nintendo Voice chat for the week of june twenty fifth, twenty twenty six. I'm your host, Logan Flantt. Although this week I look like slippy tooad because Starfox is out, I'm joined by Brian Altano. It's so good to see you guys. Wow. I can I can't really see straight. I only kind of see out of the sides of my eyes, but I am happy to see you Yeah, shouldould I call you Brianer or Leon is your name we learned recently? Yeah. We just learned that. So yeah, I'm doing great. I got about a hundred sharp teeth and a mohawk made of scales. So things are going good for me Macy's here with an eye patch That's true. And you know, it looks like I have a really cool battle scar. It's actually just to correct a lazy eye. so unfortunately it's exciting Yeah And Jada Griffin, Hey, Jada All systems go Hey everybody, Brian, that mohawk is the most hair you've had in a long time, I imagine. Well, if you're listening and you haven't caught on, we are using the Star Fox Game chat avatars and we're gonna try and stick with them for the entire Star Fox Review disiscussion segment. So highly recommend you watch this episode if you can because there's a lot of fun stuff you can do. like's slippy, you can like puff out his cheeks When I do that, it's weird Yeah Yeah, that's really weird And then Jada is Fox, by the way, we didn't say that, but Jada is Fox Mcloud. R because Jada reviewed Star Fox, that's up on IGN now. Jada, you gave in eight out of ten, You called this a great remake. What are your overall thoughts? I think this is the best twenty plus hours of Star Fox I've ever played And I know that's not like the highest bar to clear seeing as how we have what ten Star Fox games total with two remasters, three spinoffs and All types of other crazy things that we've gotten in this franchise for so few of games But everything from the gameplay to the just the controls, the new challenge mode, multiplayers fun. It just it adds a lot of really cool stuff and it is The greatest way like we I predicted I think before reviewing on one of our episodes about this might be this is going to be a lot of people's first Star Fox and this might be the best Star Fox for them to get into. I fully stand by that prediction at this point You know, real quick, I just want to say that hearing Starfox. say he revoiewed Starfox. You know, there' we've gotten there's been a lot of comments in the last, you know, thirty years of IGN of people saying paid shills. and I think this is honestly and I've never agreed with any of them, right? This But this is I think this is ridiculous. I think that this is I think this you're Snarwolf That's why Well that's why I blasted you out of the sky three times throughout the campaign. Yeah. you're just You're a terrible flight, you're. Of course Starfox thinks the new Star Fox is good Well, I'm slippy and I also think the new Star Fox is great. I've played about fifteen hours of it and I'm with you Jaya. I think this is easily my favorite Star Fox and yeah, I've been hard on the franchise before, but Star Fox sixty four is like the shining beacon of the franchise to me. And this is just such a dream remake. Like I think it's really most everything you could ask for from a remake of Star Fox sixty four It looks incredible. The soundtrack is amazing. We already had that preview of it on Nintendo Music, but just every song across the entire. Everybody's just I feel like smirking and smiling during this whole conversation. This' really hard to get through. But I just think it's just like a really, really fantastic remake. I think the new Challenge mode edition is really cool, which we'll talk about in a bit. And yeah, I just kept thinking like if you've never played Star Fox before, there is no better way to experience this franchise than this remake one thousand percent. This is Where do you wantan to start, Logan? There's so much to dive into. We've both been playing it a bunch. Let's start just with with the campaign and how the level design holds up and how maybe the new cuts sccenes and everything adds to the experience Yeah. I mean, so A lot of people will, you know hear about the campaign like, oh, Star Fox is really short. It's only, you know, each campaign runs only about an hour or so. why would I pay so much money for that you know, short of a run Star Fox has never been about like super long campaigns other than what Adventures, which was a Yeah, not really completely differentbx game. Yeah. Yeah, it's a completely different thing Star Fox is kind of the closest thing I think Nintendo has to their old school classic arcade experience still Because Starfox is all about replayability and going for that highest score as you go through the stages Each stage is, you know, there's A lot of obvious hidden things in the games, which such as, you know, towards the end of corn area flying through the The little u arches to Unlock the alternate path But There is a lot more things such as, you, if you hit underneath certain gates or specific gates, extra enemies will spawn, which means that's more points for you to get to hit that metedal score on that course or an extra bomb will spawn. That way you have a bomb for a larger surge of enemies that you couldn't shoot down with normal charge shots or lasers, you have now an extra bomb to use for that. There's just so many little things under the surface of Star Fox that canan't see until you've played a stage three or four, maybe five times for some people because you you'll see you'll see it like, oh, what was that? And you'll go back and experiment with it. So Yeah, because this whole campaign is only takes one, like between an hour and two hours to beat depending on how efficient you are, but it is all about replaying it because you can't see every level on your first run. see seeven levels per run, one is always Cornaria, one is always the fin version of the final destination you're heading and it's those five in between. There's like twenty four different permutations that you can take. And then the cutscenes differ depending on the ones that you go to this time around. That's so cool. I really So that's I was going to ask you guys because I know obviously for people who have never played this game in any of its forms. Obviously this is this is where you start I have. So like what's U what's sort of the hook for like a hardcore old school longt time Nintendo fan who played through Star Fox sixty four a bunch and Starfox sixty four three D a bunch Like what's the what's the hooks here? What's the new unlockables? What's the outside of the visuals, which like look incredible And the new voices, which I really, really like Um What's the what's your sort of favorite like new unlockables or favorite Favorite things that sort of like hooked to you this time around I think so campaign wise, the fact that You know, I talked a little bit about the branching paths But the cutscenes you get, if you take a branching path changes that cuts scene. You get a different permutation of that cutscene So there's new dialogue, different dialogue that's added ons of new dialogue, which is just great and really fleshes out each of the characters and they all get to talk a lot more and just show a lot more of their expertise in the crew. Peppy shows off all of his like wisdom and' like, oh, why would anybody go to this planet Well, Peppy has an explanation for that. He hass been part of, you know, he's been in the H sky's for longer than anybody else. so he knows all this background information I think that's really cool. Logan, I'll let you touch on challenge mode. The thing I'll say is the Hall of your is really cool because it gives you a lot of background lore that You just never get in a Star Fox game There's just so much information about just backgrounds and backstories of characters and enemies and planets and events. There's just a ton of stuff So like if you're a big long term Star Fox fan and you've been wanting to Learn more about the world and the characters, the Hall of viewer is pretty cool for that. It's a little basic, it's just kind of a menu with like scrolling texts, but it does have a lot of really cool information in there. I was poking around in that this morning and I immediately was like, Ohh I need to unlock all of these because they're so cool Yeah, yeah for me, it's two things just in the campaign before we move on to Challenge Be. And one, it is just, it's the visual upgrade and the game feel upgrade. Like I love how dissecting how games feel to control. and man, R wing has never felt better than it does in Star Fox on Switch two. It's just, it's a lock sixty FPS and it just feels perfect. L just gliding around is just buttery smooth. It feels exactly like how you want it to And this is an N sixty four game, like There's some shop and some stuttering to that original. And here there is just none of that. So while the level design is exactly the same, like this is a perfect modern realization of it. and the level design is still really good. and these improvements allow it to shine. L I think some of the levels are still really clever and smart. like ZoneS, I think is probably my favorite. It's this like kind of toxic ocean planet where you're trying to avoid being spotted dozens of spotlights that you need to shoot down. And if you pass one before you shoot it down, you're spotted and you're locked out of completing that alternate route. Like that's just really fun and still holds up super well. And so it's just yeah, just how it feels to control has made revisiting it totally worth it But other than that, it's the new script and the dialogue for me. L I think the characters are the most likable they've ever been in this remake. L I think They talk about the same amount, but when they do talk, they say a lot more. So the sentences are longer and Slippy doesn't just feel like this kind of idiot tag along who is always getting into trouble. Slippy is In some ways the smartest on the team. Slippy designed the landmaster and modded the Awing to make it better. and he knows all the tech stuff and he's the worst pilot, but he's very self aware now that he's the worst pilot. Like he's like, o, not a great idea to tail me when he's got four bogeies on him. and then you shoot him down as fox and Slippy's like, Ohh, what I tell you? Like hes he knows that he sucks this time But hes knows that his friends are going to bail him out. And you see that in the gameplay with the dialogue and in the cutscenes too. And there's a lot of people online really dunking on the new voice acting, I think just because it's different than the original and people don't like when they think it's different in a remake, but I think the voice acting is really, really good. I like it a lot Yeah in a wayic. You could say Star Fox leads and Slippy does machines. That's fact. Felk I was cool but rude. Yeah it. Puppy hair's not much of a party dude though. Yeah Unfortunately, it all fs apart at the end Is that analogy, notot the game. No no Gaganicism? Yeah, look you mentioned something about the Gosh, what were you saying? I forget what you were saying about the campaign. There was something I wanted to chime in on and it was such a good point. butll come it'll come to me Okay. Yeah, well, let let's talk about about the cutscenes a little bit because I do have one complaint about kind of how they're implemented is There is some new lore in these cutscenes, but and some new just character development but it never goes quite as far as I kind of thought it was going to. A lot of the cutscenes kind of boil down to Here's your next choice of the mission. And if you do succeed in the alternate path, they're like, or we could go here. and it's just Peppy or General Pepper I've never understood why those two names are almost exactly the same when there's like six characters in this game. But Peppi or General Pepper will just explain to you, we need your help on this planet, or we need your help on this planet. And it's up to you, Fox. And what is cool is that it seamlessly transitions into the world map from the cutscene, which is this game is super cinematic and really, really well presented. But I think the cutscenes eventually I started to see through the matrix a bit and saw, oh, it's pretty much just setting up the next level Sometimes there's cute little character moments like Slippy takes off his hat in one guts scene and I don't think I've ever seen him without his hat before. But there's just not as much there as I thought there was gonna to be? What do you think Jada Yeah, I think they definitely could have dived a little bit deeper because like these are all new cutscenes to begin with. like going back and messing with Star Fox sixty four, it was just kind of teext line Here's your next mission, good luck. K So we could have they really could have expanded a bit more on that. I think that would have also you know, endeared us even further to these characters. Uh, But yeah, I definitely understand what you're saying about like They're just setting up the next mission. And I think I touch a bit about that on the camp on my in my review about how most of the cutscenes do focus pretty much just on the war. There's a little bit hints of, you know There's a lot of personality but there's a little bit more hints of, you know external communications outside of that story, but it kind of stops before it starts It's like, oh, just pull on that tangent just a little bit further. it would have been amazing wouldould have been so, so good to have that. So M But yeah, I agree, Logan. I think I was wanted to talk about the branching paths was one of the other things that was really cool U. because you mentioned that one and I really like the sector X kind of split for uh, those branching paths and But The wormhole. U ass that you get. Yeah. Brian, that is something that every Starfs fan will want to see because these are just amazing like levels in the I can't wait for that. th they're just I was like, whoa, Okaykay. this is this is This is a team taking something that was like the bare minimum and just going one hundred and ten percent on when going to a remake. and so I'm very happy that they like over delivered on those Yeah, some of this stuff is the best looking things in a Nintendo game ever. And we've talked about this before, like it's an on rail shooter. So there's not a ton of stuff to make. so you can really make everything look really good, but they did. like cororn areia when you enter the Cash city for the first time, it just looks incredible or I mentioned Zonus is one of my favorite levels. It's just gorgeous with the rain and the soundtrack there is really good. And then all the space levels just look Amazing. like this it's a stunner and we've said it before. I think you don't fully see how good it looks till you see it R rununning yourself on your own screen on your own TV. it just it looks really, really phenomenal Jada, you mentioned something about like you and Logan and some other folks at IGM were messaging each other about this like reallyally hard to get to or I don't want to spoil anything, but there was it was a so Venom two has a like every level has like a medal score. you have to get the medal And I will say I wouldn't say that I ever really felt that the game as a whole was difficult, but it definitely has a few spikes when going for like the metedal on certain stages where the difficulty definitely pushes back a bit. Venom two is one of those stages where I was trying to get the medal on my expert run and I unfortunately had lost a wing going into Venom two. I lost it right on the boss on the stage before And so I only had single lasers going into this fight and that for anybody who's, you know, old heads who've played Venim two is a show a final showdown against Team Wolf Star Wolf and Having a single laser and trying to get the metal on that mission is tough because bosses, different u They'll divvy out points based on how fast you take them down. So the faster you take down each member of Team Starwolf, the more points you get. And if you don't take them down fast enough you essentially make it impossible to get that metal. So it becomes a rur race and you know, challenge of expertise with tracking your enemies, especially with a single laser if you get in that same situation. It is doable. M and Logan both did it with single lasers onn that stage, but yeah, Venom two was definitely one of those metedals that push back because you need two hundred hits and you have four enemies plus the the final boss Yeah. it's really hard. And I think that's when I see we have some questions from the audience and some people basically ask like, this is like a two hour experience. And well, if you're only a gamer who cares about seeing something through to the end credits and that's it and you don't get joy out of replaying things, then you probably won't get the value out of Starfox just straight up. like I don't would say don't buy this But if you're someone who likes chasing high scores and trying to check off all the achievements and replaying things to see different ways they can play out, like there's levels where depending on how you get to them, different things happen at them because you've already seen a character somewhere. so then they don't show up the next place or you haven't seen them yet. So that's where you run into them for the first time. Like that is the joy of this game and how you can get ten to twenty hours out of it instead of just the two that it takes to beat it the first time. And yeah, a lot of it is those medals. like like Dave was talking about, each stage has a high score you can shoot for and then you unlock a medal. and there's a big reward for getting all of the medals. And so that's something to kind of chase and replay the game for. And the other one is challenge mode, which is brand new for this game. They've dropped the score attack which en in previous versions of Star Fox sixty four and now every level has twelve challenges to go for. There's six in normal difficulty. onnce you beat those, you get six in expert difficulty. And I thought this was a really, really cool addition because it does make you play the level in a little bit of a different way and shoot for different things as you're going through the level. And some of them are really, really tough. like one of them on Cornearia, one of the expert challenges is don't let any buildings fall over. And so there's the robots that conveyor belt up to the buildings and then topple them. You have to be fast enough to shoot bombs or charge shots at them before they topple any buildings What's really cool is that if you ever fail an objective, like you cannot complete it by seeing the level through, that achievement will show up on your screen and gray out. So you know, oh, I failed that. I have to restart the level. So it's just really clean at kind of telegraphing these objectives to you. And then when you do get them, it checks them off and that's like a satisfying like a trophy pop on Playsttation you can back out of the level and start over and it will save that you did that achievement. So it becomes this really kind of bite sized, almost anyS remix style way to play through Starfox levels that you can get a lot of extra mileage out of It's such a great way because the pattern enemy patterns and everything are identical to playing on normal or expert playthroughs. So the like enemy layouts and everything and behaviors are all the same, mirroring what difficulty you're on So it's also a great way of Hey, I am having a hard time getting the medal on you know, sector Z where you have to shoot down all the missiles. I'm having a really hard time getting the metal on this stage when I play through the campaign. You can just practice it in the challenge mode after you've cleared that stage once until you can hit that score that you know you need to hit At any time, you can pause The game in campaign or challenge mode to see what your score to see what the medal requirement is or what your challenge requirements are. So it's not you have to remember these six challenges and like, o, did I do this thing? You know, Logan did like Logan said, they do pop up when you fail one obviously or succeed on one But you can also pause to just kind of check where you're at The thing I think the one that helped me the most was when I was doing Aquas, the underwater stage, there's a challenge where you have to destroy like all fourteen of the clamshells. Yeah. And I kept failing one at one point. I'm like I kept failing it. And I was like, whereere is this clamshell? So I knew When as soon as that one failed, I knew that's where I needed to look around where that where that failure was happening and it helped to me. just like, oh, there's one hidden off in the corner here that if you don't fire a a torpedo at the right time, you can't see it really. It's just it's pitch black that that part of the stage. So That is the challenge mode is amazing for that aspect. Yeah yeah, like Logan said, there are some pretty challenging ones. There's One that gave me a little trouble early on was the boss of Medeo, like the second boss where you have to not hit. he has the like the spinning ring where there's like a little little, you know, one square a weak point and it rotates and you have to not hit that shield with any shot. So you hit the shield with one shot you fail the mission and then you have to go back to the start of the mission B. So it's very brutal. So you have to like be 'ause you know, I think Many like myself are probably very itchy trigger finger and just fire all the lasers all the time. You can't do that on that bus Yeah, No, there's really hard ones like beat a whole level without taking any damage or kill a member of Star Wolf like within ten seconds of them appearing. Like they get really, really hard. So if you're if you've mastered every version of Star Fox sixty four before, like this is going to be a brand new challenge for you, which is really cool Do you remember those old Ghead Do you remember the surveys that they used to send out about games that Nintendo used to do like in the Wi and three DS era and there the options Why did you buy this game? Because to enjoy the story or to playay with friends and then the last option was always to compete and get high scores. And I never filled that option out, but now it sounds like I would do that if if it were still around, which's not because I that was one of the things I loved about the original Starfox back on Supernus. and it wasn't even an actual system. I would just replay it and try to get better at it over and over and over again Did any of you get the VHS tape Whata no, what? No. Oh, there's a It starts the Fox sixty four one? Yeah, there was Nintendo P two subscribers sent out a VHS tape and they did the same thing for Donkey Kong Country, I believe. Yes and Majora's Mask as well. Oh I don't know about I don't think I saw Majora's Mask one. but no the Donkey Kong country one had like these the trees all over it, But the Starfox sixty four one just showed up in my mail one day and it had like my address printed out the back of the VHS box. And I popped it in and it was like a whole promotional video. and it's almost certainly on YouTube. But it was a promotional video being like, Hey, check out Starfox. It's this cool new game we got coming out and it rumbles and all this stuff like that It was I love that and also I think it was for the SNES one they had this papercraft Rw Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, this is this this is it's it's so cool. It was like just and I forget which one it was. the Donkey Kong one showed treehouse and it showed them like walking through this hallway with all of this like Nintendo power fan art printed up on the wall. But yeah, the Starfox sixty four VHS was one of my favorite things for a while. I have no idea where it is anymore, but yeah, go hunt it down if you're interested The other thing Brian, you mentioned, like unlocks and such, one of the big unlocks is the The avatars that we're using, there's twenty five of them to unlock and you get a lot of those by completing the challenges in the challenge mode as well as just meddling on some of the stages through the campaign So that's something also something to kind of to go for as you're playing through it, you know reasons to replay to go for those high scores because you get more options when you're doing game chat and stuff like this. Also, I just realized how like good the eye tracking is on this game because I was like looking less better. And I was like it just mirrors My eyes going left and right. Yeah. It's just really cool. I do want to talk about where you use these avatars a lot, which is the battle mode. but first I want to just, I want to say one little Tiny nitpick I have about the challenge but he' sleeping. He was h his head down. no. I'm sorry, I think I'm just trying to find that Nintendo power issue. He just looking at his control pan. Yeah. The one thing that bothers me with challenge mode is these achievements that would be really fun to tackle upon campaign replays because like let's say you need to meddle on like the fourth stage of your campaign play, but you've already meddled on the first three to get there. When you're playing campaign, the achievement challenge mode is completely separate You can't go for these challenges while you're playing Korn area in campaign mode. And likewise, you can't meddle on Kornara while playing it in challenge mode. And that makes more sense because challge part of the difficulty of meddling a level is if you're trying to meddle like the sixth level on your campaign, you got to make sure all your wingmen survive to that point and you have good lasers to that point. So I get that side of it. just wish that could tackle these achievements in the campaign mode because it's nothing that that would There's nothing that should limit me from doing that because it's just like beat Falco through the loop. so I'm Cnaria and And that's exactly what I was going re Yeah, it wouldn't make a difference. So it just doesn't it doesn't acknowledge that you've done that at all, which I think just That I like replaying this game, but for me, that starts to make it feel like padding a little bit. It's a game about replaying it over and over. I get that. But when you're like blocking objectives into its own side mode that could totally flush into the campaign mode, it just doesn't it doesn't really work for me. That's a tiny issue I have with it, but that's not really a huge deal. Yeah, I only had that was I had like you know, two or three kind of like things that really just kind of were interesting design choices. That was one of them. The other was, which we'll get into here now, probably good segue is into the battle mode with the avatars You have, like I said earlier, there's twenty five avatars, but You're locked into the main eight of Team Star Fox and Team Star Wolf when you go into battle. You choose a team in whichever character you get When you get on that team, that's your avatar automatically populates. So despite being able to unlock you know bill or Aal Ppper, horn Cat or Rob sixty four You can use those when you're playing like single player or challenge mode and you're just in a game chat like we are right now and just talking with friends Wait we're a game chat What are you And bless you. I mean, this ist us life. This is we life Just, you know, just R wing to R wing conference call is what I meant to say. That's the only time you can really use those unfortunately. So that was kind of one of the things that kind of let me down. And then you know, going into battle mode, battle mode is a lot of fun. It's so, so much fun The new power ups and abilities that they've added are really cool But there's only three maps And that was kind of, I was like I want to play a lot more of this But I've seen everything I want to see across these three maps after about ten matches or so Yeah it is really fun. There's there's each map has its own objective. like in Cornaria, it's kind of just a zone control thing. It's really focusing on the dog fighting. And then Fatina, it's about or Katina, I always confuse to. Fatina is about these green crystal meteorites that crash. It's like the sixth Nintendo game in the last year that's made you collect green crystals. like seriously, Metro did it. did it Pokemon Legend ZA did it. It's crazy right How but you collect green crystals The crystals in general, you're correct. Yeah. Yeah. then And then there's one in space and one of the sectors, which is about shooting down space pirates to get their cargo and bring that cargo back to your base. So they all have this different spin on dog fighting. And I think all three are really fun, but I'm with you, J, is just it's not quite enough, likeike playing all three of these modes on all three of these maps would do a lot for me or just having more maps would do a lot too Yeah. The fact that they locked all the the events because there are events that happen and you can you can go into the settings and change how often they happen or just turn them off if you want to just do straight dog fights for points. U, But I think if they would have just, you know, let me try to grab pirates you know, treasure off of in sector Y or on Carnaria. Like I don't see why that doesn't translate. The meteorite one, maybe in space could be kind of weird, but I still it's space. So maybe you like shoot them open and then they're like floating there and you can grab them or something. Yeah, yeah. like maybe they just they pass through a part of the arena. If you don't catch them as they go through, they don't catch them as they go through Um, but You know, yeah, the battle mode, lot of fun, great foundation. It just needs a lot more. Absolutely. Well, we got some questions from the audience before we get to those, Seth Brian. Any other thoughts or questions I can't wait to play M more. I just got through the tutorial this morning and I'm about to start the campaign and I'm incredibly excited. And you guys are really selling me on unlocking as many things as I can Yeah Star Fox is back prediction. This will be the top selling game of the month and it only came out. uh at the end of the month, but Yeah, it seems like it's doing really well which everyone is so excited. I can I look, I have our our little LGN deals portal open right now and I'm looking at it and it's far and away the biggest item. of the last thirty days period. I'm very happy are like my review It did as well as it did on like for views like on YouTube. L last I checked it was like just under one hundred and eighty k after a day, which is really good specifically because I don't know if anybody else What else happened yesterday? You know, happened yesterday, but GTA dropped like five different like oh yes. newews bits. And so that kind of took the internet by storm. And so I was like, I was really worried. I was like, I was like, oh, man, nobody's gonna to watch my Star Fox review because all this GTA stuff is just gonna suck all the air out of the room. and thankfully, there's a lot of people. I've been in the comments responding to folks. so if you're watching it, drop a comment. I was also on Reddit and one of the Nintendo' subrededdits' answering bunch of people's questions yesterday. So nice. Yeah We got some questions from the audience, some on Facebook, some on the disiscord server, which you should join. We're in both of those all the time talking to fans and it's a lot of fun. So Joseph Priestlely asked, didid the remake enhance the Star Fox sixty four experience? Did Nintendo do enough to justify paying fifty bucks for a game you can finish in less than an hour? We touched on this a bit, but Jada, what do you think of that? the price point for this. forty nine dollars ny nineents I mean, forty nine is That's as low as the Nintendo variable pricing goes, right? I think that's to pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. So I think I think at fifty bucks's it's a fair buy. If you're into, you know, as you know, Logan and I said, if you're not just looking to get through the end and see the ending That's if you're just looking for that fifty dollars is not going to be worth You know it's not going to be worth that fifty dollars for you But if you're somebody like me and Logan who like to go through a game over and over again, kind of dissect all the little bits Go for high scores, do all the extra stuff in the edges. I think fifty bucks is fine for this. I thinks it looks great. The improvements are fantastic So I say yes personally. Yeah, Yeahah, I think so too. I mean, I can see an era where Nintendo charges sixty or seventy for this. I think that a year ago they maybe would have before they started to introduce more fifty dollars games. So no I'm happy I'm mostly happy with the price point. I think this would be a no brainer at forty. I think that that's more of a sweet spot for this for for what this is But no, you're getting some of the best graphics in a Nintendo game. And like I said, I think it controls so well that for me I like just playing it. So I'm happy to replay it because I just enjoy piloting it so much and and like There's a flock of like ten enemies flying in and you're like, I charge up my shot and you get the little reticle and it's like, well, who am I going to lock on to to get the most hits from this? Just like kind of optimizing the moment to moment of your run through these levels is a lot of fun. I'm not done playing this yet and I have about fifteen hours. so Yeah, I think I think it's worth it. but I like I said earlier, if you're only I roll credits on a game and I move on mayaybe wait for this one to drop in price, which we're seeing a lot of sales on S switch two stuff right now. like on what or Amazon or stuff. So this will probably go down in price at some point Logan, that about the like controls and stuff is what reminded me what I was trying to get at earlier Doing a barrel roll or a somersault or a U turn when in first person view is crazy on the switch too If you have it like Try it. even if you're not going to play the game in first person, definitely try it. It's really cool Yeah, and the mouse controls, I didn't really like them. I don't know if you use that much J. I used them for like a couple of the landmaster missions like after our session with Nintendo, they were like, oh, I liked it, really liked this. I tried it in there and I was like, this is fine, but yeah I haven't found the mouse controls on the swwitch to be ergonomic for me. Like I came away after a mission or two and my hand was kind of tired and I didn't feel that the whole time playing with the Pro controller. So's Probably more of a me thing with just the contour of my hands and the mouse controller for the Switch two, but They do work well. It's just a matter of comfort and preference And then that's how you use the co op too. It's like bonanza. you split up the Joy Con, one person does the aiming and one person does the moving. and it's fine. I think it's kind of boring to only have control of one of those two things. So I don't super recommend playing that way, but it is there if you're interested in it. And then Beau Hartwig asks, which level and or boss do you think have the biggest glow up in terms of visuals I think all of them, like I think this game is super polished and just I think that's a boring answer, but that's how I feel. Like every level the first time through I was kind of just wowed at how much better it looked. likeike Aquis, I hate Aquis. I hate being the submarine. but now it just has this awesome, you shoot a torpedo and it's lighting up the walls like how in Metroid Prime, people love that when you shoot a charge blast, it lights up the hallway. That's how Aquis feels now. Like I think everything is just super polished and really nice I think the biggest goal up for me was probably area six That level so good. Yeah. That level is so good all around. It's very tricky to get like the metal well If you when you don't know what you're doing, it's tricky to get the medal. Once you play it a couple of times, you're like, oh, okay, this is where the points are at The boss for that is really cool. It has this like cloaking technology and it's pretty cool. And you'll see that cloaking technology a few times in the campaign. and it's It's really good. I think that one that's probably my favorite for glow up reasons Peter asks, do you see this art style and use of cutscenes sustainable in a completely original follow up? What would you like to see from a new game? Brian I'll heard you on that one. New Star Fox. You haven't gotten one in a long time. Like what do you want from that I keep coming back to that and I keep thinking it's a thing that's going to happen specifically because they put in all this groundwork to make this remake looks so good. and I I hope on what you guys are seeing just in sort of like, you know, engagement and excitement and sales so far that this turns out to be A hit for them because I think that this is a This is a series that deserves to live on. And I think that like We've seen in the past with Star Fox games that they they they've just never really stuck the landing in the way you want. And they they've tried to, I think occasionally bite off more than they could chew. And I think that like a spiritual successor or an actual sequel to Star Fox sixty four remake that is more of the same where you've got, you know, this is a shorter campaign. It's sort of bite size, but it's got enough meat on the bones. And then, you know, it's same deal where you've got that the entry point levels, the final, you know, the final boss fights and stuff like that, but everything in between can kind of go a little crazy. I think there's a lot of room to work with there I love these characters. It's like even this morning, like, you know, Nintendo showed off new merchandise. They're making Star Fox plushies that look like something that would be on the cover of Nintendo Power. And I don't know, it just makes me really excited to see this franchise survive again because I don't know, we were on the show during the Wi U era some of us and it that was it was it was rough trying to get that Star Fox game to click with us or with anyone really. And some people have come around on it, but like this is a franchise that has always deserved more. N you Yeah I have not either. It's always deserved more. I think the Switch two is powerful. and I think that putting these games on this system where people are going to love them and play them is a really smart idea. And so I'm hoping that you know, two or three years from now we get to see a brand new Star Fox game Yeah. Yeah. How would youf? What do you want for a new Starfox Well, Brian talked about meat and bones and as a wolf, my mouth is watering because those are two of my favorite things. I wasm so excited. I'm more of an insect guy myself.. Do Do this game have any bugs in it? That's why a little bite size games, Brian. I mean, I just like look, I want to see what they have here fleshed out into something new, something bigger, something that we're all excited about. I think they really They nailed it on. I mean, I haven't even played the game other than the tutorial But I feel like everything about this, they've just done so expertly. Like the launch poster Oh so cool. I don't know if you it's so awesome. It's like one of the coolest things in Nintendo has like ever done. And the game itself, I have a new OLED TV and it is like jawdroppingly gorgeous just when you start the game up So like just do More of this, bring in more fun animals. Maybe leave out the dinosaurs this time. We don't need to you know go back to that well or maybe we do. Maybe they'll nail dinosaurs in the next Starfox. But I just want more and bigger and soon. I would like it soon. And I think everyone kind of agrees with me. likeike everyone's really excited about Starfox Yeah and it sucks that I can't playing it all day today because that's kind of all I want to do I don't think we ever need to see Prince Ticky from Dinosaur. Planet Star Fox Event. Man, it's so weird because in that Star Fox direct, that was the only other Star Fox game they shouted out. Besides sixty four. Like Miyamoto was like or Koizumi, whoever it was, at this point was like, oh, he's sixty four. And then he went on some adventures and then they show adventures and that's. I'm like, why are we bringing that back? Yeah. so I wouldn't be shocked. att least like an NSO drop. I think that that game's gonna come back in some way. I love the sort of the stories around that game where it's like Rre was like, we got this feature complete Zelda like dinosaur game, it's really cool. And Miyamoto just kicks in the door flips over the table and he's like, putut Star Fox in this thing? And' like, Oh my God, he's here. We can't say no. I love the idea of him just doing that all through the nineties and early two thousands U As far as like what I'd like I'd like to see for the next round of Starfox, I think What Nintendo's been doing best with their franchises that have been kind of maligned to like not getting a lot of releases is figuring out what other genre will mash well with Starfox. You know, we saw it with Piickman four, they added like toer deffense basically with those nighttime missions. U Not necessarily toower defense, but you know what I mean? prettytty much Yeah. that's basically what it was Uh So I think that could figure out what genre would work well off the top of my head, rogue like. makes the most sense. It's starting from the start going through it, picking up specific upgrades, different elements, they could branch out and do a little bit more they could dive deeper in the story. I think you're right, Brian. They've put so much of the groundwork into this game, like graphics and just mechanics and just how it feels to play D It'd be very silly to not build upon this in the next couple years and have some sort of spin off sequel whatever they want to do with this franchise because it's It is ripe for the picking to come back Yeah I think I think this is it's a it just feels like the right time, you know. I I think God it's a I was I feel like they could, I mean, I feel like this is an easy setup for you know, an animated series, like some new manga, like just a cool just like put Starfucks everywhere and then we can watch a show every week and be excited And then you know, read the comics and have a good old time and snuggle with our plushies It feels different to me this time. It does not feel like sixty four three D just felt like, oh, here you go, the three D S can do these home console games now. So we'll do it. and zero That was never going to stick as a reboot. That game is just, I think kind of a disaster. And but this this feels like, hey, we've got a solid direction. This is a really successful game that's being received well, that's priced more appropriately than Zero was. L this I feel like they did it this time and that if anything is going to bring back Starfox, it's this And you just got to follow it up. You just got to make a good sequel. I think they have never done that E ever. Like I've been hard on Starfox the last few months. I think deservingly so. I think Starfox sixty four is like an all time Nintendo game. It is and this remake like proves that. Asault I bought assault at a used game store because I was so high on Starfox the last couple weeks and I play the first couple levels. I'm like man, this thing's not good. Like it's just Oh man. even the arwing levels, which people say are good. I think the arwing feels sluggish and bad in assault. And then like all range mode and the landmaster when you're aiming at the sky trying to protect your teammates and the on foot stuff like Oh, it's just, it doesn't, it's not nearly as good as Starfox sixty four. It's I mean rough. you all just nailed it just now when you talked about like how the Rwing feels in this game. Yeah It's one of those things. five seconds in the tutorial, you start, you know double clicking the shoulder buttons and doing like leans and barrel rolls and, you know, somersaults and stuff like that and all of a sudden, you're like This feels perfect. This is exactly how a Star Fox game should feel. So yeah, like again, they have they've got the foundation. they've got the blueprint. So like I just want I want more games that look and play like this one Also give us co op, give us like a four player Starfox game. Mike. let us play All members of Team Fox This this, this game chat that we're doing right now makes me think they've gott to do that. Like that's like I imagine if we are the four members And there's like bogies on my tail and then one of them shoots them down and each character has a different kind of mission through a level. That could be so good. That could be really, really. Yeah, and there's little like dialogue pop up boxes that have our faces looking like the animals. That would be so good. That'd be really good I just I know that they tend to feel like they need to shoehorn something new into their games and that walks a fine line between innovation and gimmick. And Starfox has always leaned closer to gimmick, like Starfox Zero's control scheme. So just just make a sequel. Just make a sequel with great branching paths and fun co op multiplayer and hand it to this studio. They did a really, really nice job. I want this to be like a Lyinkxs awwakening to echoes of wisdom thing. Like hey, you showed you can remake one of the most classic games now do your own I really O Samus returns to Dread. L they have this track record of doing this with studios. so I hope it happens And also they they asked about the Peter asked about the art style and cutscenes This is Star Fox to me now. L these characters are the most fleshed out vision of this world to me. Like if I think of Fox and Slippy and Falco, it's them. from this game. like why play the old ones and They look wrong to me now. So yeah, this is I want this to be what Starfox looks like. going forward And then last question is Dexter asked on Discord. Should I play sixty four before the remake I say no It's the same game Just go in just go into this one fresh and if you haven't played it before, definitely just go into this one fresh because This will just kind of set your expectations for the franchise going forward If you have played it, I mean, if you want to revisit it, there's no harm in it, but you are Like Logan said, they're playing the same game, essentially. Yeah just yeah, there's a better version of it I played the three D one for about twenty minutes the three D S one and was like, this is cool and the three D effect is still awesome, but I was like, I'm going to save my appetite And then then those side by side, like I still think three D S games look nice, but man, this game blows it out of the water. Yeah, it's's we mentioned that a couple of weeks ago about like putting those two side by side and also the u, you know, the the ocarina of it all, which is obviously, you know, the next big remake. of an N sixty four three D S game that Nintendo's making for Switch two. Yeah So yeah, I don't know. I agree with you all. play the new one instead Last thing I want to shout out, just my favorite detail is that when you're on the main menu, you are like on the in the main bay of the Great Fx, which is their big mothership and out the windows You see whatever planet the next mission of the campaign is on like where your campaign is saved. And that's just so cool. Like it's just the present they just nailed it, they nailed this game. It's so cinematic and the presentation is perfect. like Yeah, I just noticed it once I was outside like the lava planet and I'm like, oh, wow, there's lava outside my window and it's glowing red in here. That's so smart and just a little touch that's just it's perfect. So yeep, Starfox is really, really good. We'll talk about it more next week once everyone has played it. We're gonna take a quick break and we're gonna transform out of our Starfox cosplay. We'll be right back on NBC I love to wear t shirts covered in pictures of terrifying horror movie monsters or sword wielding video game characters, but sometimes I need to wear stuff that's a little bit simpler and more minimalist for when I'm doing stuff like picking up my kid from school or having a nice night out with my wife. That's where Quintince comes in. Their tees are soft and easy to wear and their lightweight cotton sweaters are perfect for cooler summer nights. Everything at Quince is priced fifty percent to eighty percent less than similar brands, and they work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middlemen so you're paying for quality, not brand markup I recently bought two pairs of their black jogger pants and I love them a ton. I can wear them around the house or around town when I'm buying stuff to make homemade pizzas, which if you know me is a thing I do very frequently. Get the cup pepperoni that kind of curls up in the oven when you cook it, it's great. Quince joggers and t shirts go together perfectly for summer, but I also love their shorts for those really hot summer days And Quintince doesn't just make clothes, they also have cookware, sofas, bedding, and a ton of other things to make your home life better So hey, elevate your summer wardrobe. We're real Logan Pl with Brian Altano, Jade Griffin and Seth Macy. and Rhythm Heaven Grove is out next week. It's a bunch of Nintendo games are coming out in the next month And a free demo is out now on the Switch or swwitch to e shop because this is a Nintendo Switch one game and we've all been checking out the demo. Brian, what do you think I am bad at it. Oh reallyally Okay. Okay, so like here's here's the thing and I've this has like been such a pain in my side for my entire life. I make music, I've always made music. I've put out albums. I'm working on a new one right now. It's almost done. I you know program my own drum patterns and play my own keys. I have, you know, metronome set up and all these VSTs and plugins and all this stuff, right? I program all of my original stuff. I like to think that it's all on beat. I sit down and play video games anythingything that's like rhythm related or music. I was always ot trash a guitar here. I don't know what the disconnect is. I just can't I'm just bad at it, but I love how silly this game is and I'm going to keep trying. it is exactly as it's been described to me, like you know, basically music warriorware. and I love that so much. It is so dumb and so silly and so goofy and made me laugh like crazy But I'm so bad at it. I did not know that about you. that's funny. Yeah I would have guessed you would have been good at it. Can't dance either.. Yeah. Seth J, either you check it out Ccked it out yet. because well, we'll get to what I've been playing, but I Well, now I can't now because Starfox is out. so that's all I'm going to be doing. So I'm just going to wait till this game comes out Ne week, obviously I'm very excited. I've talked about it a million times how I love these rhythm games, especially you know, these Especially that it's a handheld console again So, you know, This is like pererfect use of a handheld console are rhythm games. and so I'm very excited for this stupid goofy game to come out and delight and infuriate me I think you specifically would likes there's one where you throw frisbees to a dog and every time he misses, which again happened to me a lot. It makes them the stupidest face you've ever seen. And it's so funny. Yeah, I really like it. I don't know enough about like music to perly convey, but I'm fine when it's like a bump But when they start adding like, I guess like half measures or it's like bump, a bump, a bump Yeah, that's when I'm like, I forget it. DDR or guitar heo when those off beats come in. Yeahah,'m I can't do it Yeah, half notes and quarter notes are tricky. U I absolutely loved the dog and the dinosaur little really What's the dinosaur? exxplain it. The dinosaur onene is basically just kind of walking down the hill and there's little flowers shoot these little hearts and you have to eat the hearts in rhythm And it was a lot of fun. like there's different things that change, like the time of day changes. at one point it goes to it's all shadows So you're just which by the way, I could play any game like that. That's the like silhouette shadow look. like the Donkey Kong Country reteturns games both do it. Raymond Legends does it. I could play any game like that Yeah I really like Rhythm Heaven. I think it is a fantastic demo that people should try out. if you especially if you like rhythm games whatsoever H I yeah, I don't have much to say on it other than I really enjoyed my time with it. didid really poorly in the first that little the little white blob jumping through the hula hoop. I was terrible at that one. But the rest of them were fine. I don't know why that one was tripping me up literally. But yeah, they like even when like there's one with the the dog catching the Frisbees where this The screen zooms in on the girl throwing the Frisbee so you can't even see yourself anymore So you have to do it all on rhythm and just to hit the button and hope that you kept you caught it. I think that was the first one I meteddled was the dog catching the Frisbee one in there Yeah you get a grade after each mini game and the people that you were doing it with people I use loosely the other tams or white blonds or whatever that you were doing it with, they grade you and they're like, Oh, you were perfect. you' right on feat where they're like my My wife played the hoop jumping one and she was doing really bad on purpose, just like jumping nonstop. And the review that she got from the other blobs was, you know you only have to jump in front of the hoop, right? It's just like so it's so funny and so sc the onn the turn up one where you're like this turn up with an umbrella that you're opening and closing based on the rain pattern, if you aren't in rhythm with them, they'll give you a little side eye, which is classic rhythm heaven. they always do we you And I notice they clear their throat at you if you're doing really bad. They're like L they're like, come up I did it together. It's so perfect. Oh my God, I'm gonna love this game. This is gonna to be one of my favorite games of this year, hands down. because I love rhythm games. I also play music. I play in a jazz band. I've played trumpet my entire life. and I'm very good at rhythm games. I've always loved guitar, hero, rock band, rhythm, heaven. Yeah, like the little remakes you do at the end where they're constantly jumping between all four games you've played and you have to remember the pattern. It's brilliant stuff. It's just it's perfect. I adore this game Yeah I think that was my only thing with the demo. was like, I want to play more of these mini games. I want to try more of these. Yeah. So. Yeah, but the progress does carry over to the main game. So if you earn the medals on this world one, you can jump right into world two when the game comes out. And then there's also thirty co op or competitive multiplayer minig games. only one in the demo. and that one is it's a classic rhythm heaven game where you're using tweezers to pluck Chin hair from an onion. This is real. This is what you do A game and it's great V style at the time,ah Yeah, so we'll talk more about this game next week, but right now let's talk about what else we're playing. Brian, you're playing a game called Dark Scrolls. Yeah, so Dark Scrolls is basically an auto scrolling action platformer that relies heavily on shooting. and it's got this really cool overworld that might remind you of something like ghosts and goblins. So you've got a couple different character types, Jada, I have a feeling you would love this game. This right up my alley. Yeah, so P'sre prettyty much old school pixel art platforming, it's got multiplayer and it's tough, it's tough as nails. And when you die, you accumulate a bunch points, sameame sort of you know classic rogue like recipe where you go back to your base camp, upgrade, get new stuff and go back out there. But some of the bullet patterns start getting really fun and crazy. Some of the enemy movement is nuts But one thing I specifically want to shout out about this game that I really love outside of the music, which I think is great is I paid eight dollars ninety nine cents for this game on Switch and it came with two other games for free. What What Yeah Gbrella and Ratto. And I didn't I didn't know that was going to happen. And so I just I bought this game for nine bucks because I'm like, yeah, this is. So what happened with this game was I think, I think it's nine bucks right now on Switch two, but they wanted to put it out I believe last month and delayed it once the Min in the Hoower release date was announced to kind of give each other some space because you know, there's obviously some crossover with the audiences there. And so I think it's sort of like a make good. They were like, Hey, let's throw some free games in there. So did I did that thing where I downloaded it and the game key card popped up on my switch and then two more games popped up and I was like, this is awesome And I looked into the fine print. So yeah, you can get three games for nine bucks right now. And one of them is Dark Scrolls. Not to be confused with Dark Souls or deemon Souls orer glll or eldest girl. Yeah, the video game name Gator has definitely broken a fewuse when creating this one. But yeah, I really dig this game. I can't wait to play more of it. Like I said, it's really tough, but it's got that great rogue light feel where you just go one more, one more, one more. So yeah, check this one out and like I can't recommend it enough to get Th games for nine bucks and they're all really cool. So yeah Dig into this. looking at it on my switch right hand screen? I have not called the hotline. I haven't called the hotline in about thirty years Nintendo power or was that the last one? That was probably the last one. Yeah. He was like, yeah, hold on. And then we got a bill for like seventy dollars. And my dad was like, Don't you ever do that again That's good. you're stuck in a video game, figure it out yourself You're also playing Occaran of Time, which I have been to. just I can't wait for the remake so I've been revisiting the original. Where are you at Brian U I'm at the water temple Yeah. But I'm playing on the three DS version. So I'm not super worried about it. I just did the ice palace thing where you get the iron boots. I felt like such an I'm going to tell you guys a story because I just did this yesterday. but the end of that ice palace there's this like weird, like sealed right? It's like this like it looks sort of like a door, but I was like, oh, I don't understand what to do. So I dumped the blue fire on it to see if it would melt it. And then I used the Bllero fire song to light it on fire. And then I was like, maybe I have to use you know, I called Sara. I'm like, Yo, you you know what I'm supposed to do here? I did everything you. Yeah, called the hotline. It was totally stuck Got a bill for seventy dollars from the T of Power Hotline And then I pressed A and the door opened. exactly the door you're talking becauses it's so it looked, it doesn't really look like anything else in that game. Yeah. this is this is it. And so I was so confused. and the door opened and then you do the fight and you get the iron boots. And I was like, okay, I'm good. And I got out of there and now I'm at the water Temple, which famously on the The three DS version has streamlined stuff a little bit. It's a little bit more intuitive. And I know some people were mad at that It's a weird thing to be proud of. Look, I beat Ocarinv Tim a dozen times on the original hardware without a strategy guide as a kid, uphill both ways or whatever, right I appreciated all of the tweaks that they put in the three DS version And when Nintendo announced the remake was coming to Switch two, my plan initially was to wait Um and just experience it again. but I decided no, I want to play through Ocarina three D whichich is I think my favorite way to play the game currently. And because I really love all of the item mapping stuff. you can do the second screen with the map and all that. There's there's just so many there' there's little things in here and I actually really like the art direction. reminds me a little bit of some of the promotional material that they put out around the time and concept art and stuff So yeah, I decided, you know, let me play this game couple months before it's out. I mean, I have assume Ocarina of Time is not coming out in a couple weeks, right? It feels like a fall game. Probably pretty safe. Yeah. So I didn't want to do a thing where I played this right before when the remake came out, but I did want it to be fresh enough in my head. so when things either change or stay the same, I'll have a good point of reference for you know the most recent version of Ocarina of Time that Nintendo has put out Yeah, game stool rules. still awesome. stillill probably, you know, one of the best video games ever made. one of the best Zelda games ever made. It is it is phenomenal and coming right off of Twilight Princess and having finished that out a couple weeks ago, it's really cool to see this as the the sort of introduction to that that formula and how it's it's just so perfected. There's just so much charm in this game. I mean, what what do you want me to say that I haven't said already about ocr of timeim. It's fantastic. and I'm just so happy I'm playing it again. It is comfort food for me. And it's great and we're getting a brand new remake of it and that makes me so excited I think about the remake at least like ten times a day. can I cannot stop thinking about it. So I'm playing the original Al I'm playing on my analog three D, the cool Nintendo sixty four version, My dad's original gold copy from nineteen ninety eight. It's just it's so good. I mean, I've said on the show a million times I play this game every year. But when we do that, it's very much like the Spark Notes version Pac Rign of Time. We know exactly what we need to do when we need to do it So we don't talk to anybody. When we replay Occreen of Tim, So this time I'm doing everything. I'm talking to every character and I'm like, how are you supposed to know where to go? I just do. So I'm just like relearning, how do they teach you? You need to go learn Saria's song to play for Derunia so he'll dance for you, you know? And it's just I'm rediscovering so much fun dialogue. I've just not read in years like The first room in Castletown when you're young Link, there's like a hundred pots in there and you can break them all and fill up your wallet pretty much instantly. And there's a guard in the back who I never talked to, but I talked to him and he's like, I hate it when we're at peace. I prefer to be at war. Don't tell anybody I said that. but let's blow off some steam by breaking all the pots in this room. And it's like I ha that's so great. And I haven't read that in so long. and I just I'm so enjoying Yeah. so many there's we we were looking at the Death Mountain sequence right now, which once when you finish that It is there's there's this thing where all the gorons are like, Ohh my God, thank you, dude. canan we give you a hug? And there's this really hilarious cutscene where like five Gorons start like approaching you with their arms out like that and Link just screams and runs away. it it doesn't make He doesn't have that sort of characteristic with anyone else in the whole game, but he's like these guys are going to eat me even though they only eat rocks. I don't think he knows what's even happening and neeither does a player but it's just one of those little moments that is so funny in this game. And's Lan, you know that there's so many little like conversations with side characters and one to one moments with these guys that just have me in tears And go for I was going to say, you know You guys are replaying it right now. I'm going to do the same probably in a couple weeks after I finish a few other things I'm playing, but what enemy are you least looking forward to seeing in like full like high Df? I think for me it's the Wallmasters just because I hate like manned enemies Yeah So But what about you guys? the dead hand, the under the well, boss. What's that big Yeah, that that guy, that guy is awful. And the what are they leg likes, the big Th those things are like they've done they've done realistic or more realistic versions of them in I believe they're in Twilight Pincess and they're just hideous. And so every every time they do that, they're just like Viny and they have these disgusting tusks coming out of the top. So as a huge horror movie fan, I'm excited to see those guys. Yeah, these S somethinghing I have been really thinking on this replay and then comparing it to the teaser trailer is I actually think Link does look like he looks like in this game. Like I shouted on the reaction show. you can see Link's fingernails. That's crazy. You you can in the N sixty four version. when you pull out your slingshot, you see his little stubby thumb. You see his little thumbnail just the the way his hair looks and Oering of time is Cartoony, I feel like because of hardware limitations because this is blocky polygonal N sixty four graphics, but some of the like pre rendered backgrounds in Castletown, they're trying to just look like a house, tootally like the beds and the pots and the table and the kitchen. Like I feel like and the Link young Link character model specifically really looking at him in the N sixty four, I totally see that throughline to what he looks like now in the Switch two teaser trailer. I'm more on board than ever the more that I'm playing Ocarina Yeah, ye. I I think that's like something that's so special about this game. likeike it is it it's got it follows Link in a way. I don't think any of the other games do. Um from this sort of like helpless little kid to this, you know, Gobe trotting hero effectively. and is it is really cool how the more you experience H rule and the more you learn about it and the literal growth that happens in this game. I mean, early on in this game, you wake up, you have no you know, you don't have a ferry and everyone's sort of making fun of you. Everyone in town is kind of like Hey, look over here and you try to leave and this guy's like, you're not getting out of here unless you have a sword and a shield, you loseer. And you come back and he's like Oh my god, you got you got out. L it feels like there's Yeah, it's like a guy you went to high school with And he still works at a gas station and he's like, how How'd How'd you get out? like like, o I don't know, man, I left. I moved You can do that like There's so many little moments like that. and I just appreciate that and seeing this world through different perspectives and time with Link is just really special to me. Just my and I don't like We take this for granted, right now I don't want to spoil too much in this game because a lot of people are young and the switch to is their first console and maybe this is their first Nintendo show. and I've noticed I you know, I did a video about Ocarina a couple of weeks ago and there were there were a lot of comments being like spoilers. So I'm going, you know, I'm going to walk on eggshells here, but there are there are times in this game No pun intended where you return to a place that you saw as a child and you see it as an adult and it's it's It's almost heartbreaking seeing how things change through those different perspectives, how different actions from evil people can shift the way a physical landscape can look or a town can change. and That's a thing you see in real life and I didn't realize that when I first played this game in in, you know, nineteen ninety eight, I got it right, Logan. I did. And the now as someone who's older, like it's been really interesteresting revisiting that concept and seeing it here. And I that's again, cannot wait to see how that translates in the remake because it's there's just something really special about that. And the others older games all have their own sort of hook, but Ocaran of Time does that one thing so specifically well. and it's I love it Yeah Yeah, no, it's such a good story. And it's like about Link Wh he loses his childhood, right? His adult responsibilities are thrust onto him as a kid and he deals with that loss. And I notice as a kid playing through the first couple areas, the amount of people that ask me to prove that I'm a real man or tell me I'm not a real man. And I'm like he's not. He's a child. He's like ten years old, but he's being forced to be a man at this young age. And then later when you're an adult and like everyone's fawning over you and you're those big strong man. and it's like, but he was forced into that. It's so good. And I can't wait to see like it blown up. I think it's just gonna to be great He also goes back to being a child and he can't exactly tell everyone like every. You know, it's like ye. Yeahah, it's's's it's there's a lot of weight on his shoulders. you know, like yeah, you can you can tell in his feet didn I didn't hear what J said. I said, there's a lot of weight on his shoulders. and Jades said, Yeah, and his feet.ace. Nicely done U you know, I do love to bridge everything we were talking about in the show. I love that there's there's an arwing in in this game in like the original code. You guys know about that, right? Yeah. ye No. I didn't finally get it with like the game shark or whatever. Yeah, there was like a game and I remember trying this out when I first when I first got a game shark, but yeah, you can plug it in and just fight an armwing in the opening village and it just flies around and shoots lasers at you and You can hit him back with with your sword. It was used as like a test bed for the z targeting, this flying armwing because we Mota kicked down the door and was like, what Star Fox. Yeah. Can't wait forrocre en of time. And yeah, maybe we should do better at labeling when we're going to talk about spoilers for this game because to me it's like, this game's thirty years old, but I get it. So we'll try moving forward When we're going to talk about it generally and when we're going to talk about the original,, we'll do our best. Seth, you're playing a different ze the game. You wantan to talk about it I am I'm playing a little game called Linkx Awakening onendo. I' just playingintendo switch two version. I've never played I've never played it. I played maybe the opening on Game boy But no, I've never played it and I am loving it. It's all I want to do now. It's like I played in the mornings when I'm drinking coffee and I play it at night when I'm done with work and I just I love it. It runs great on the Nintendo Switch. It's so charming. I love the like The violin composition of the oververworld theme. It's just like everything about this game is so wonderful and charming and sweet. And it's I mean, even yeah, even right there, they they made sort of a an anime style opening to the one that was originally on the game Boy that just blew everybody's mind But yeah, man, what a fantastic and wonderful ge this is and I can't believe I put it off for so long. It's my brother's copy. He just loaned it to me. So I didn't like actually end up buying it, but he might not he might not be getting this one B but yeah, it's so it's such a Perfect Zelda game that's also so weird. because it has all these Mario refferences like constantly. I knew about the the u the chain chom But I didn't realize that there was so many more than that all throughout this entire game. I don't know what the connection is there if it actually matters or if it's just a thing that they did, but man, I love it. It's so fun and joyful and the stakakes are they they feel so much lower than any other Zelda game 'ause I was I was thinking of like, well, this is, you know Let's get a link to the past, you know, remake in like this style, but I don't know that it would work because Link to the past is feels just so much darker It is this and so I don't think it would work, but man. What a delightful game. I can't believe I take it's taken me well like eight years to finally get to it, But I think it was worth the wait because I have not had any problems on the Nintendo Switch two. ever And a shout out to the guides team because I have had to use the guide a couple times, but it's written as if like The guide for this game on IGN is written like It's telling you a story Yeah. It's like that was in had to Yeah, it's so De Fredis and I worked on this guide together. So yeah,m it was it was very funny because we were like we both knew the original game very well and it was really fascinating playing this and seeing what was new and what wasn't. And there was, you know, there's a whole lot of new sort of secret things. namely the claw machine has all these Mario figurines that you put on pedestals all over town. and it is it does not it's just simply cosmetic, basically. But it just adds more charm to the neighborhood, I guess. Yeah, I'm actually so happy that you're playing this game fininally and I'm really glad you waited until Sitch two. Then there's the other side of me that's immensely disappointed that I've been friends with you for so long and somehow was not able to convince you to play this game before this So that's a letd down. I can't remember Do the swch Brian, you'll know this. Does the swwitch version still allow you to steal from the shop? Yes, it's harder It's harder and it' when you go back in, it's much darker L it's and it's it was the worst because I told my kid that you could do it and she was like, I want to see. And I was like, no, because we're like fifteen hours into this playthrough and they're going to call us thief in all caps for the rest of the game if we do this. And she's like, please, please, please. And' like So I was like, all right, I go in there and like there's there's early on, I believe it's the bow is like nine hundred rupees.'s like Yeahine nine eighty. you don't even have anything close to that many rupees early on And unless you play know the crane game over and over and over and just keep going for thirty rupees And yeah, I went and I stole and I didn' I didn't feel good about it and I don't I still don't feel good about it. And our save files said thief until the very end and like you're rolling credits and it says thief. and it's just an awful feeling. Don't do it. Oh my God. Yeah no couldn't get it. feel I just I feel bad for this guy. like he's he's smiling. he's happy. He's not ripping anybody off. like there are there are like, okay, there's price gouging a bone arrow over.'s definitely price gouging a bone arr Like there's that bird in Twilight Princess who's mean, you know, he's like a tcan that runs like a juice shop. Steal from him if you can, I hate that thing. But like don don't steal from the guuy in Lyink's Awakening or do, I guess I absolutely love this game. This was my favorite Zelda game growing up as until Occarine of Time, like as a kid and this one has a special place my heart becausecause of family members and such, but U I just remember getting stuck in the first dungeon when I was like five, six years old playing this game because like the clue was like required you to know the name of names of enemies. and I was like, I don't know what names of these I know exactly the part you're talking about. Y. And so but just absolutely love this game. So. So the puz. I play this game hundred times. And that puzzle still trips me out Also it's like, it is funny talking about Link's Awakening because this is another Zelda game that got two remakes basically. Like this this got a game Boy color, you know, if if you want to call that a remake, but it did have exclusive content Remastered probably. Yeah, rememastered. It had a whole extra dungeon in it and They filed off some glitches, namely the one where you could hold select, walk to the end of the screen and warp to the other side. I don't know if you guys have ever done that in the original Game Boy version. You can actually do it on the Game and watchatch version. This is one of those things where somebody's like, what's it thing you could talk about for five hours without anyoneace This this is the kind of stuff that like, you know My kid listens to and my wife just kind of walks out of the room. I'm just standing in the mirror like a, you know, a golden retriever and I'm talking about the glitches and Link's Awakening. No, it's it let you warp and so you could sequence break all over this game. And they did not put it in the swwitch remake, but There's a bunch of other cool new stuff here. But Seth, you know that the music in this game, like fully orchestrated and stuff like that. I love the art direction that they chose here. simimilarly for Echoes of Wisdom and I really hope I really hope they use it for another one. I really hope we get one more top down Switch switch, switch to er,ld the game Whether that's the original one or remake of Yeah Orac Oh yeah It would be perfect. Oracles perfect for this art style.' so easy. It's just like it shocks to me they haven't done it yet because Occarina three D, it felt so obvious they were gonna to do Majora three D. and then they did. And it felt the same here. It's the same art style. Most of the same characters and enemies are in that game. like they got to do it because I just played Oracle of seeasons earlier this year and it's so good. I think it's as good as Link's Awakening. and yeah,' not it's on switch online, but there you got to like pause anytime you want to equip your sword. Like there's two buttons in that game. likeike just like Link's Aakening, the original. So it could go for a remake It's a big bumber. they haven't done it yet. Yeah, Capcom turns out pretty good at making Zelda games. They did Oracle of Ages and seeasons as well as Minish Hay. ye. You know what else they're good at making? remakes Yeah. I can't imagine that happening in twenty twenty six. Nintendo calling up Capcom and being like, can you remake a minish? Can you do these? We have a studio that's made two games in this exact artyle. we're asking Keep it put it in the resident evvil engine, please. Speaking of raasing works in that, do we know Wh is making oerative time? No And that's the big question of what it's going to look like Is it monolith? Is it Nintendo? Is it some external studio? That will tell us a lot about the game, I think, just knowing who's making it. Wasn't it wasas it like launch day we found out Echoes of Wisdom Um it's like, yeah, a little before in the little starfs we found out like a week ago or two weeks ago. So it's we won't know for a while Yeah, because that's sort of been a weird dominant conversation with a lot of these smaller games happening underneath the big bigger Nintendo umbrella is not knowing who's making them. And so yeah, I'm really interested to find out who's making Ocarina because it allows me to mayaybe u get excited for the fact that the studio' not making Ocarina can be working on something else cool And then I we get double prizes. Yeah And I think like if it's external, if it's someone like a Grezo or equivalent, I think it's going to be pretty faithful like Link's Awakening. But if it's like Nintendo or monolith I think they're going to go kind of crazy with it. Yeah, which is what I want. I want them to go crazy with it. Law Supplies last ends june thirtieth turns at aka dot mS slash college PC Jadadea, are you playing anything else besid Star Fox O orr should we move on to questuion bllock before we go? So I'll do it just a quick because I haven't had a lot of time to play it lately because of Star Fox, but I've been playing the Tales Adventures of Eliiot, the Millennium Tales Fantastic little Zelda like, just, you know, keeping on the Zelda train here Dungeons so far have been pretty cool. littleittle simplistic But, you know, for Square Eix trying to kind of Not necessarily imitate, but like Pay homage to some of the things we get in Zelda Games. It's doing a really good job. The story is pretty solid. It's got a little Chrono trigger in there with you bouncing between different time periods. I really like how easy it is to bounce through different time periods once you've been to a new time period. Literally any fast travel station, which are like the checkpoints and save points as well, you can fast travel between all of those and between time at those if there is still one at that spot So it makes it really easy for that. The weapons are they give you a lot of toys really quick, really early which is which is great for an RPG kind of the style And I'm playing on the whatever the like very hard or expert difficulty they added and I finally hit the like the like kind of I don't want to say breaking point, but the thing that reveals why this game is like even harder on this harder difficulty because you can when you get to a certain period of point in the game You can pay money to revive to your little fairy French, she'll take money and revive you. In every difficulty but the top difficulty that resets when you hit a save point. But on the hardest difficulty, if you pay permanently increases for the rest of your playthrough. So it is I'm constantly weighing do I spend the revive here or do I just kind of go back to the last checkpoint how far back was that last save point that I hit when I I die because also in the hardest difficulty, most enemies are one to two shoting me. So But it's great. I love it. I love the challenge. I love the pushback. It's a lot of fun, the customization stuff is great with your weapons and all the abilities you can imbue with them I'm looking forward to starting to this., it's great. initially just thought it was going to be another like Octopath And then when I think Scott White reviewed it basically said it is just like I linked to the past, but in two DHD. and I was like Okay, why do I not have this game Yeah, veryy cool. It's cool to see them taking this artyle in different genres. it's really yeah Well, let's go to the question block. We have time for one that I think it's going to be a longer one. I sent this one to all of you beforehand. It comes from Charles who said, Although I own nearly one thousand physical Nintendo games, I haven't played through many of the core first party titles. I grew up with limited means and mostly admired video games from afar. However, since purchasing my first home console, the Wi U, excellent choice for a first home console, I have been working to catch up In your opinion, which Nintendo games are essential for every fan to play and how would you prioritize them Any of you give this one some thought. I did. Yeahah. I think that my if somebody else wants to go first, go for it I'll go first Super Mario Bers, the single most important video game in the history of all video games And if you have not, I mean, I have to imagine you've That is a game. everyveryone in the world should who appreciates video games who even has a passing interest in video games should sit down and play Super Mario Brosers because that more than any other game in the history of the world Set the tone for the evolution of where we are at now as a whole in video games because it just was so unlike anything any of us had seen at that point. It wasn't about getting a high score. It was going from point A to point B and having an actual purpose to it instead of just racking up U, you know, points upon points. You had to Save a lady from a big turtle dragon man and do it before he threw fireballs at you. So yeah I mean, I have to imagine that you've at least played this one, but If you haven't That's the one. startart there. you can beat it in thirty minutes once you get a little bit of practice into it I think A good just kind of rule of thumb is to kind of dip your toes into the pool for each of the big major franchises. It's real easy to kind of figure out what those are. U gamees specifically Super Mario World is one of my all time favorites and I think that is like showcasing two D Mario at its best during that time period So that is one I highly recommend. We've talked Ocarine of Time Obviously for Zeldas, that is like a must must play Hm Fire emblem, path of radiance on the Game cube via NSO. If you're looking for something that's a little bit more strategy in RPG that I don't think Brian or Logan were going to recommend. I have other things I wan to recommend, but I want Brian and Logan to also submit theirs before I take all of them. No, think I think you nailed it. L there are some sort of milestone flagship franchise entries on each of the major Nintendo console and handheld as well. And so I would just I would start with a franchise, right? I would say Super Mario Brothers, right? And then you go to the NES, you play Mario one, two and three, right? You don't even have to role't play two Toose fun to spine I would play one in three and then one in three and then if you're like, I want more Mario, try to. and if it's not your vibe move on to the next set. Okay, maybe. I think I think that there's an interesting story about specifically what happened during the NES era I likeater just I know most people where that No, I get it. I get it. But I think it's worth Again, if you have access to these games, I'm not asking you to go on eBay and buy you know hundred dollars hundred box copies of them. If you can jump in and play, you know a couple of levels of Mario two after finishing Mario one, you'll understand how weird it was at the time to get to experience this for the first time. It was a mass psychosis event. especially hearing you Back then, someone will be like, this we didn't even get we got a weird Mario two. It's actually it's a different game that they put Mario characters in. Like can you imagine What I think what happened was Miyamoto walked to the road start adventures So like Zelda two, Castlevania two, There were a bunch of games back then that felt drastically different than the originals. And it was just a cool time to be there. And like I said, you don't have to finish these games, but so yeah, if you're just going to go through Marioos, right? You play Mario one, two and three You jump to Super Nintendo, you play Mario World one and two, you could skip too. I don't like that game T' funine Th thenen you go to sixty four, you play Mario sixty four. It is one of the most important launch games of all time. Hold your controller and press up slightly and then press it a little more. And imagine what it was like in nineteen ninety six, gotot the year, right to control Super Mario in a three D space for the first time in history weird that felt and how strange that felt and how it felt like we talk about it, it's what we call a Mario sixty four moment and we have been chasing that high for our entire lives. And people have said like the first time you go in VR comes close, it did a little bit, but there was nothing like this. L growing up with Sper Mario playing Mario sixty four for the first time and then every single Mario game since then has been an evolution of what they did in Super Mario sixty four with, you know, added features and more graphics and stuff that looks better and better and better. moreore graphics. That's a good back of the box R question. There are only sixty four graphics and And we have so many more now. We have hundreds. So yeah, I would say that and the same thing with Zelda, right? Like just drive drive a through line through the major polls the flagships on each of the consoles and handhelds and just get an idea of the evolution and just sort of track like how do these games change over time? And again, you don't have to finish all these games, just playing a little bit or a lot of each one, however you want to do. You'll get a feel of like What was going through their minds when they made this game in the nineties versus you know the eighties or the two thousands? So yeah, I'm jealous of you because like you get to experience a bunch of masterpieces for the very first time. Some of them might not hold up as well as they do for people who grew up playing them But others might, you know be some of the most important experiences you've ever had that were just sitting on your shelf. years. So yeah, I'm excited I think there are six games to establish a baseline fluency in Nintendo games. And I've thought about this a lot today before this. I think that it starts on the Super Nintendo. NS games are great. Like Super Maro Brrosers is amazing. But like every Nintendo franchise is still built off what they did on the Super Nintendo Like that's where it really started. And then the NES is kind of the prototype to that vision that was realized on the Super Nintendo. I think the three Super Nintendo games to play like the Holy Trinity, Super Mario World, Linked to the past Super Matroid per Mroin. I thought you were gonna go Donkey Kong country. A Yeah. I like them, but no, like those are the three all time classic Mro g And then you got to play their three D counterparts, which is Super Mario sixty four, the Legend of Zeldoc Gade of Time, and Metroid Prime because Metroid did not get a Nintendo sixty four game. And like those six games, I think are Like six of the Nintendo games. And then like depending on what you liked in those games, you can go in a direction. Did you like the dungeons in Occarinee of Time Play Twilight Princess. Like you did you like Super Mario World more than you liked Super Mario sixty four? Pay like Super Mario Wonder or any of the other two D Marios? Like I think you can kind of branch out from those six main games and kind of pick the next one that you want to play And then I think you should hit the major milestones like Brian was saying of these when did these franchises reinvent themselves? Not just every sequel, likeike Mario Sunshine You can skip that. That did not reinvent Mario. it gave him a jet pack. Like Mario Galaxy, that reinvents Mario to me. That's like That's a tent poo release. Mario Odyssey is a tent pole release for Zelda, it's Linked to the past, It's Ocaran of Time, It's Breath from the Wild. Like play those. those are the three Zelda games that you can get a flavor of every type of Zelda And then there's something else in there for you depending on your favorite. And Metroid hasn't really again. It's really just copied what it's done before to varying degrees of returns. So like the other primes are all very good. Metroid Dread is the interest one of play And then I think you just play Wi sports because I think that that's one of the most important games of all time. And you hundred hundred pin bowlings coming back, baby. It isort Let's go. We've We've been playing a lot of Wi sports, swwitch sports. What do you what do you call that?l? The bowling one again sports. Yes There's shout out to Craig Harris who is playing in this gameplay footage right now and used to run IGN Pocket, which basically exclusively reviewed portable games and made me spend every penny I saved as a kid because he put me on a so many Game boy games. So shout out to him Yeahah, this switch sports is still really fun. The bowling is still a blast. I took my kid to a bowling alley for her birthday and it was like two hundred dollars. And I'm like, whyy is bowling so expensive now? Whats It's so dumb. So it's the animations when you get a strike. How many wins did you get You're there for like an hourally. Yeah. it's Ryan goes, he baalls out I don't I don't even think I got more than like fifty points That's so bad. That's rough, man. I did. did It was my first time actual bowling in like twenty years. And so yeah, it wasn't great. but we bowling throw the ball behind you and then all the people in the crowd everybody. It a No I did get two strikes and it was funny because both times no one in my family saw them. sure sure you. Yeah. I'd say I'd say for other if you're going through franchises now as well, play the Star Fox remake. If you've ever played it, it's a great spot to start with that franchise and then play pickmen four. That is also the perfect perfect starting place for that franchise. If we're going across the board for other Nintendo franchises. And I know we're missing a couple here, but Those are split two three, I would say. I would say that classic Nintendo franchise at this point, and you should play it. I have a few other random ones on my list here. Well, I think Donkey Kong Bonanza is in line with that Mario O. You should play that. It's a totally different game that reinvented a lot. I've been replaying. I'm always playing Donkey Kong Bonanza. but now my wife is playing Donkey Kong Bonanza and she does not play very many single player games at all. And watching her play it compared to like how I play it is just further cementing to me that think it's a top five Nintendo game ever. Like it's just insane how good how quality that game is and how much it has respect for so many different Nintendo franchises and ideas. So that's on my short list. If I said five Nintendo games you gott to play be one of them There's some Kirbies we can throw in there, not a ton because they're they're sort of all over the place, but u I think the What's it called? Logan, the one on Switch and Switch two Forgotten Land. Yeah, Forgotten Land. I think the Switch two update of Forgotten Land and all the new levels, I think that makes that one of the best Kirby games of all time. And I think it is such it is such a te package and there was so much it's got so much of that classic Nintendo invention in it Right? And it's just so charming and so beautiful And the level design in some places is up there with some of my favorite Mario stuff. The power ups are great. The transformations are awesome. Boss fights are super fun Yeah, playay Kirby in the Forgotten land. That's that's that's a good one I would throw in there. Yeah. And if you want an older one, I'd say either return to Dreamland ors good and on switch Yeah O you could do the crystal shards on sixty four that one is a little funky at times, but it does have some cool The cool aspect of being able to combine elements for his powers, which was one thing I really loved as a kid playing that one I thought of one that's impossible to play unfortunately and that would be either super Oh no, super punchouts on NSO, but punch out for the W That's like a such a weird Nintendo franchise it's actually awesome Punch out come back so good Yeah So Iice got ee boot I have such fond memories of that because it's the first game I ever saw anybody playing at IGN And I'm really bummed that we don't get these games anymore. Like They took the boxing stuff and they folded into the switch swwitch sports and Wiiports and that was pretty much the end of it for Nintendo There was a there was a club Nintendo Yeah, as that was it for them. Now there was a Club Nintendo exclusive thing that you could get where it was called Doc Browns Punch Up. Does anyone remember that? Oh my Godd, I forgot about that. Yeah. Yeah. And I believe it was like a disc they mailed you, right Oh I don't remember how could you it Was it a downloadode It was aiw were download. It might have been a Wiw were download. Yeah. Okay, yeah. and it let you it let you play as Doc Brown and you could play We Punch out as him or at least like select levels or whatever it was, but Yeah, I'm really bummed with that franchiseical no Dock Brown somebody else. D Brown from back to the fure. back to the future. Yeah Yeah W whats? I would play a boxer play his as. How you. You' play his him as in Fortnite probably. You know what? He's He's eccentric enough to where he could have been a boxer Yeah. Okay, so you don't even play as him. you fight him. That's awesome. Okay. train. And there's a Donkey Kong fight also. Oh, that's right. Yeah. Yeah. punch out should come back. that would that's that's I feel like we're due. That's one that they have not come back to in a long time I like that shout. F zero GX is on Nintendo Switch Online game. and it's so hard. best racing game ever made. Itry. It is extremely hard, but it's the best racing game ever made So I throw that one. And then I will give some more love to Donkey Kong Country. You should play Donkey Kong Country too And Donkey Kong Country Tropical freez. Those are the two yeah ones to play from that series Yeah. and that's that's a little taste of every era. If you're going to like a rare Yeah, the retro and then with Bonanzo the Nintendo Um, and then maybe, um Hi Uurban Champion, Banrraa Ki Well, Andrew Gazooi? And I don't know if any of you have played Banjo Kazooi recently, that g's better than Mario sixty four in twenty.. I agree. Yeah I totally disagree.. I disagree too Yeah, that's actually I don't think I've ever disagreed with you on anything more. Yeah. Where it Like has there have been multiple times as your brian where you're like, you know, I did go back and play new Leaf. and I agree. It's better than the horizon. Okay we have this moment for b. I don't I don't o, I played this game when it first came out and I replayed it on rare replay as one does picked it up a couple years ago, played through the first three level, a few levels, wasn't in love with it and then jumped to Banjo Tui and liked it a lot more. Oh, interesteresting. Yeah. But there's no universe where I would ever I think that these games are better than Mario sixty four. No' they're so much uglier They are they're a little bit uglier. Yeah. My thought probably little ban it though. like the ranking between Banja Kazooi and Mario sixty four is like, you're talking like nine point nine, nine point eight difference. It's not much better but it is better. Footage on the scen. He was just on a giant vomit pile And now in is wrong Man, now it's turning into a banjoe hate I think it's so It's such an ugly game. It's it sounds so ugly too like No, I think the music is good. I think the sound effects are horrible. You don't like they It's like That's just like Yeah who It's it's not it does not it's not a good sounding game. It's unsettling to look at too Like look at this. You got this're going to come back and you're going to be like, it's unsettling in the best way and it's. It really makes you feel like Bench. Yeah, I know, I just know I'm lower on Mario sixty four than the general Nintendo population. I don't love Just the general population period like S Margo sixty four more. There's not like there's the speed running. community is not at the level as it is from Mario sixty four, It's just a better game. It's a better game Yeah don't don't I receive who asked this question? Will Charles play Banjio and Mario sixty four and write in and let us know what you like more I not I'm not dunkking on Mario sixty four. It's an all time classic. so don't come at me. It's all time classic. And Joe Kaze is a very good game too as well or two But just an ugly one that's unsettling. Yeah. it's just not Yeah, it's got it's, you know, there's some stuff in there that's not great. The N sixty four, they were still figuring stuff out, you know, They just had one guy doing most of the sound effects L mister Miyamoto kicks down the door and delayed Zelda Ocne of time because they were worried it wasn't as good as Banjo Koazooi That's that's true. I think meam Banjoazui feels like one of those games that if you, if you hung out with Miyamoto like if you guys went camping At two o'clock in the morning, he'd be like, I really don't like that game. like it was off the record. Nobody's recording anything. you guys are just hanging out. He's like, please don't tell anyone this. Like you know when you like those quotes every now and then that pop out about like Donkey Kong countountry, he's just like, I just don't like how the monkey rolls, you know He's just jealous because he didn't make it and you know it It's not as good. Everybody knows it's not as good. it's funine. Yeah. I'm just messing with you, look. Oh. One last game, Paper Mario, Thousand Ye door. Yes, yes. great game. Remake is perfect on scatch. playay the remake. rememake is excellent. And Super Mario RPG. The remake or the were I don't think it's essential. If you're playing Per Maro thousandousand your door, don I don't think Super Mario RPG iss essential I don't know. I love it I love Super Mario RP. They're both very good. But I think if you're picking one out of that franchise to start with to like really Develop your love for that turn based Mario, paper Mario Th thousand in your door is I think with There. Yeah. I'll give you that. Not gonna to fight you to the death f I just. It has the depth that Super Mario RPG just doesn't have as much Yeah Um Any of final shadows. We've given you so many games to play. Hopefully this has been remotely helpful. I's like a hundred hours in at least. I'm not camping with Mam mota I would throw out one last one Waro Warioand four. That's one of the best Nintendo platformers ever made. It's on Nintendo Switch onnline on Game Boy Advance and it's made by The Mario team in the Metroid fusion engine and it stars Mario. Do you need a better sell than that? that game is
