As always, it's your host, Kelly Williams, and I am joined by the absolutely hysterical, iconic Honestly, one of the funniest people online, the host of I canannot, Kendrick Tucker. Thank you so much for coming on Oh my God, thank you for having me. I feel like this is like onene of the most long overdue things ever. and we got to get you on my podcast immediately. Like I kind of need you over there to drag Amanda. I kind of need you over there to talk housewives. I kind of I need you over there to talk a lot. Okaykay. So we go this is Kismid right here. I love this Amazing. I'm so excited. like you said, yeah, this has been forever in Kendrick He commented on a One Tree Hill post and I was like, he's a One Tree Hill fan. I have to speak to him about One Tree Hill. Yes. Yes. I am the person. You know how like just random shows are comfort shows. like, you know, mean we have the dancecott of it all. I know, but still, like it can be it can be a comfort anyway It can be a warm hug, a little piece of blanket, you know, Lola Hey La shot the Lola bllanket, sponsor us both want to, you know, anyway,, you know, we listen. Everything can be a warm hug and that's just one of those shows that like You know those shows where you go back and like you're like, Oh, I'm gonna do a rewatch, I'm gonna start it. And then like you do it, but then like life takes over. It's like I always do like the middle of season two. I'm like, okay, damnit, now I gotta watch this for the podcast. I got to do this or that. It's just one of those shows I always go back to and at least attempt to rewatch. It's just I don't necessarily always make it to season nine, but I get through it, okay. I love the people love the people Listen, anything after seeason six of one Tree Hill. didid I watch it? Yes, but do I know her? No, I don't. Exactly. We're Mariah carrying J Lo to the bullshit. Exactly. Exactly. So we're going to start with a little this or that. It's a mix of like Bravo, reality TV, One Tree Hill, early two thousands. okay? So Pf perf Brooke, Davis or Payton Sawyer Okay, listen, I was a Brook girly. I was a Brook girlly. Brook was an agent of chaos. She was, you know, like, okay, this's your man, but I want him. so he's my man now. And you know what? I respect it, okay? Listen, I love women going after what they want, okay? Even if it'sone someone else's boyfriend, okay? I support women's rights and wrongs, so it's always gonna be Brook for me. Always How about Nathan or Lucas Do not get me started. Okay. this might be a hot take with your audience, but Like there's never been a moment in time where I was a Lucas person. Now I love the character. love Lucas, but I have always been team Nathan. likeike you're not gonna sit up in my golden life. I got me a nice inheritance over here. And now all of a sudden, I got a mysterious brother coming and say, Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That is not what we're doing over here, okay? I'm gonna have kids one day. I gott to pass it down to them. I need this this damn c shop No I'm not happening. I'm team Nathan. I was like nope, nope, I would be him in this situation You' the correct choice too because Lucas becomes a monster as the seasons go on. Yes, abbsolutely. And Nathan just becomes so redeemable. So it's like, you know what? I made the right decision You did. You lo them the right side of history. How about American Idol or America's nextxt topop model Oh gosh. it's almost embarrassing to say I literally rode America's next time model until the wheels fell off. L I was there during the VH one years with Rita Aura. like I was not letting this show go. It had a grip on M So it's always you know, the first like the early seasons of of American Idol, like love seeing Fantasia, Ruben, Kelly Clark, like loved all of that. But man, America's next time mod have had me in a choke hole. I was I was there during the what was the guy's name Rob, the male model who was just like the most hateable person in history. Oh my God, like I was there for it all and embarrassingly, even as much as we know about Tyra now If she announced a new season, unfortunately, I would I might tune in and I do hate to say it, but I might have to watch an episode of two y'all. I'm sorry Listen, we won't cancel you for that. donon't worry.'t Thank you. If you were able to live through the Rita Oura years, you deserve to watch your new season of America's next hop model. Thank you. It was literally it's my prize, My pot at the end of the rainbow. So thank you. Thank you for that. How about flavor of love or rock of love Oh my God, fllavor of love all day. Now don't get me wrong. The rock of love girlies were everything we needed them to be, but there's just something Literally anytime someone like the word nostalgia in general makes me think a flavor of love. Like I don't know what it is, but that just feels like such a moment a particular moment in time. like when I think of that, I can think of so many moments and even in twenty twenty six. I can think of so many iconic memes that we have. just from that that one show alone. like It's our original like Me machine, it's our original Nini Leaks. It's our original I don't know who now I'm blaking on memes, but it's our original like everything about that show, iconic, all three of them needed. It gave us the spinoff of all spinoffs. We got I love New York. We got New York gets a job, all of that. So was I was there for it all Okay all of it. And that's a good point. You say that it is nostalgia because no way in a world could that have aired any other time than like two thousand three or two thousand four. O no, no, no, no. It's like you know what it's like? It's like early bigig brother seasons. L you're like, oh, I have people I work with that watch now. like they started watching maybe like during COVID And they're like, oh, I love Big Brother. It's so like competition and so formulaic and all like this. I was like, man, the show y'all know now was entireirely different back in like season six. we were meeting Janelle and season ten when we got Dan competing like it used to be a whole notother thing. abbsolutely Nostalgia. And what do you think about that when it comes to shows? Because like I'm a challenge watcher and I've watched it for years and years and the way that people Love the competition aspect of it, but I really miss the messiness. Do you miss the messiness when it comes to Big Brother Yes, I miss it so because Like those were the most like ridiculous reality TV fights. 'a this's one thing where like housewives fight because like one's at their house, the other's at their house, they go and meet for lunch somewhere. It's a different type of tension when you have to live with someone twenty four seven, cameras are rolling all day on, not just for this one moment where you're like, you know what? I need to go get me a moment for camera. I need to make sure I'm on the season. I gott to make sure I'm here in this episode No, cameras are always rolling. You have to make and then back then, I mean, you watch if you watch an old episode of Big Brother now You will like literally hear stuff that kind of makes you audibly jump. You're like, What did she just say and you forget like what time you're watching this because you're like Whaty did she just call him like that? And it was just like Like this was airing on CBS like at the time. So it it's wild to think about. So I do. I miss it so much. I still like love the formulas that because if you like competition, you like competition shows. So it's not gonna, you know, it's still like whatever, but man, it's just a lot of things I think, you know, like like real world Ro Rules Challenge is what we, you know, what we think of it as but even like back then, like I think about that first time Victoria and someone got into the big fight in the house and they' been teasing it all week long. I was like, oh my God, this is the best thing ever. But of course now we've got like Zoous networks so like fighting fighting is like you sign up to get beat up so, you know whole other thing. Yeah, you're thinking about Veronica versus Tanya Yes I'll never forget that cameraman like I'm tell my like Mauri style sprinting down the hall because he heard that yelling. I was like, oh my Godd, this is cinema This is amazing. Absolutely agree. I think I'll know the answer for this one, but early housewives seasons or current housewives seasons H So this actually might surprise you. I'm someone that really has appreciation for both because I do think when they do it right you can truly evolve these shows. likeike you're not going to beat early Housewatches. like you're not going to beat like early Atlanta, early Beverly Hills is a good one because they've just been kind of horrible for a long time. Like there's so many of these shows that like early oh my God, early New Jersey like I rewatched those reunions all the time likeike all the that is just like Danielle stoped getting up from that reunion couch with that glitter skirt and that wife beater on and like walking to the back they're throwing pillows at her like it's a mess. And I'm just like this is so comforting to me and it shouldn't be, but gosh, I just feel like I can I can conquer the world now. So there is something to say about like those old seasons But truly, when you do like cast right and know how to evolve these shows and aren't afraid of actually letting go of the past, like we wouldn't have housewilds like Angela on Atlanta or like all like there are so many like new ones that like I love to be able to experience, but there is something about the past. I appreciate both. I appreciate both. I'm not letting them go anytime soon Okay, Summer House or Vander Palom Oh That's a good one You know what? Oh gosh, I must say kind of the same art. I feel like Vanderpump has contributed more to like the pop culture zeitge. So I'll go Vanderpump for that. I will go them like I feel like even if you don't watch that show, there are so many like recognizable lines that come from it that you'd never like you'd never even know. like of course Summerhouse is given us a like great like no summer should be fun. We know some lines from this show, but I feel like Vanderump is almost like an entirely different beast. Now did itt necessarily like did it kind of run its course? Yeah, but, you know, it still it still had its place in history and it gave us a whole lot. So I'll go Vandapump All right, and this is my last one. What was your Mypace profile like? if you can remember the layout or anything? Oh my I This is embarrassing to say. I remember everything about my Mypace profile. You're in great company for remembering every thing about your My face pge, believe me. Literally, I felt like, you know how we always said like bllack girls code. Like I felt like a black boy coding back then, making my Mypace play.ike I was tuned, I had my bff vocals on, I had my hat, I was like locked in. I was like, o, wait a minute, how do I get Paris Hilton Stars a Blind is my profile song and I'm like Everything My top ten, I would go to school and I would announce it. I'm like, guess what? You've dropped out because I didn't like what you said, I lost you other day. So I'm taking people out. I'm using like a social cache. Oh my gosh. I would always love I would find different backgrounds every week. I let her out a week. You know, I did like it, you know, need I needed my hard work to settle in, you know, I needed y'all to see What was the work I put in, Tom had his rightful spot on there. The other one of you guys, you know, y' y'all fill in as you can. But you know, then the next week, entirely different vibes. You might get Paris Hilson this week, but then you might get, you know, Walked out by DJ Unk the next, you just never know. So there we go I love how much thought you put into it because I was kind of like I like mine to look very bare. Like I was like, oh, I'm mysterious. You don't know what I like. but I like I never changed it. I would not change it. I would change my song a lot, but not the full layout Okay, see, I was always like week to week because I use it as like social manipulation in a way 'Ccauseuse sometimes I wouldn't tell people I would just change my top eight and they would notice. They're like, wait a minute, what you got going on? I'm like, Well,nt you shouldn't have said what you said. I'm just saying. So you know, you gott to teach people how to act sometimes. So it was a good way of doing it. I truly believe our ranking of friends is why our generation loves reality TV so much because we've always loved mess, especially in like groups at some points. Yes, literally it's literally watching my space Eactly. So it's amazing, especially you think how many cast members are housewives, how many top friends you get on' I love it. I love it Before we get into One Tree Hill and everything, were you someone who was like glued to MTV and teen dramas or were you more of like a reality TV person outside of like the MTV shows, I guess I kind of dabbled in a little bit of everything. So it's so funny because childhood I was not the kid that was like, you know, oh, mom, turn on Barney. I want to watch this or like I'll watch Pokemon in the morning before elementary, but like other than that, I was coming home and like she would watch like unsolved mysteries and I was right there with her. I'm like, oh, yes, we're solving a crime. They can't figure it out for some reason. I got to help them. So like that and all the other like America' most wanted like top like I was all about the true crime Oh yes. like something as a kid, I was like, no, they need me to solve this. L someomebody in Nebraska is missing a sibling. I've got to solve this right now. So I was all about it. As I got older something I think we all just got to kind of bit by the reality TV bug. And so when I think early reality TV, I always think of like how obsessed I was or like for something this wasn't like one of the like first seasons, but like I always think real world Las Vegas, like that old Tell and like all of them in that like out like That was just such a memorable season and such a vibe that I feel like we were kind of shaped by reality TV. I remember going and doing school projects with people and they would just be playing in the background like the ch like you know road rules or like all these other shows and don't get me started about like the next and like Rom Raiders and like all this stuff. It really did just kind of shape who we were. So I was all over the TV, but, you know, I'm watching a little bit of everything. L little bit of everything Not much has changed. I love that. I love that you had such like an eclectic mix and you were into true crime before everyone got into true crime. Yes. Oh my that you know what? it's my mom. My mom is It's hard to describe my mom honestly, but she is someone that like will watch true crime all day long. but then she'll call me like seven times a night because like she thought she heard herself from ne other room and And I'm like, well, girl, like go turn the TV off from there. like I don't know what to tell you. L I can't help with this. You're scaring yourself, watching all this stuff. Don't watch it. But of course she can't miss like fear thy neighbor or any of these other shows on oxygen. So what are we going to do Me and your mom have that in common. I will contin to rhimme and then be terrified once the sun goes down Yes. canan I tell you my most psychle trait I literally there's a podcast called Park Predators that I would literally listen to while I was at the park doing my laps, like doing my miles. and it never dawned on me how ridiculous that was until somebody told me and I was like, I was like, no, I list to like, you know, when I'm walking, getting a little exercise, I'd get my steps in. they're like, what are some of favorite ones? I'm like, you know, I love the crime junkies. I love park predators. They're like if you listen to something called park predators while you're at the park Oh o that is ridiculous, okay? Well no Yeah It's not, it's not. I used to listen to the podcast My favorite Murder when I was at the gym because it like wanted to be stronger. So I understand Yes. Listen, you got to pull motivation wherever you can, okay? I'm a fan of it. Do what you need to do. Okay, so time travel back with me to like two thousand four. What celebrities can you remember being obsessed with? Oh my God. the year two thousand four for me is Beyonce year. Like that's when we were getting the debut album because I was I was a big, big, big, big Destiny child fan. L I loved me from Destinous child. I was as obsessed with like Beyonce and Kelly as I was, Michelle was my favorite guy. Like I loved Michelle. like I always thought she had the best parts in the song. I loved it like she rarely smiled in the pictures on like, Oh my gosh, she's so mysterious. I love it. you know, I was all about it. And then Beyonce dropped that like debut app. I was like, oh my go, well This is it. This is the rest of my life right here. L donon't go away because at that point, you know, in elementary, I had lost a Leah, you know, that was the saddest time in the world for me. You know, we had the other girls. We had like a Shaany and everybody else kind of reining R and B, but man, once Beyonce made the decision, she dropped that debut album Oh every song of banger, I was into it. So that is literally when I hear two thousand four That's immediately what I think of. immediately. Do you ever just listen to it just like feel something again? Like I put on confessions by usher to be like train back? Like is that one of your go to albums Oh my gosh, yes, it's such a good. especially there's a song called Ss that I listen to and I love it so much ' she literally taught me the Zodiac ' I would never know all the astrology one for her. Every time somebody like tells me to birth, I'm like wait a minute, Capicna C spr And I'm like going through all of them just to remember. So yes, I need Beyonce's Dangishly in loveve album is feeling for me. There's literally like electricity going through my body A time where my knees were in much better condition than they are right now, okay? And I know you already said Michelle Williams, but she really did sing everyvery brridge so perfect. Yes. Michelle Bridgerton Williams, That's our girl right there I love her. Y. I was a big Kelly Rolling girl. The song stole meant a lot to me for a very long time and then motivation of course and we don't need to go down that rabbit hole, right? No, I followed all every single solo album they dropped I was right there. I was in my local like cats music store. I'm like, no, I need the physical copy, okay? Give me the physical copy. I'm not going on lime wire I'm I going on napster, okay? I need to support my girls. I used to think I'm like, they won't eat if I don't buy this, okay? So need I need to do my fair part, okay? And my computer can't afford another virus. Exactly And you know, linewire, the amount of ad libs you'd get from one song was so ridiculous. like you're trying sing it and of sudden. I'm like, okay, L can't we enough DJ tags? likeike we're good. C. M be like you a random like aim door slamming and then opening again in the middle Y. spepecifically all the things she said tattoo is what I remember Absolutely Okay, so One Tree Hill premiered on september twenty third, two thousand three. Do you remember when you first discovered it I feel like I was not there like when it was like airing week to week initially. I feel like it had to have been like two seasons later It started coming on in syndication on one of like the other networks. And I would come home from school and I would like look for something to watch. and I think Oh God, this is such like a random memory. but there was one station I think Dawson's Creek came on first, like those syndicated episodes. It was soap network. There we go. Oh my oh my God. That makes the world of sense 'use I was the biggest all my children fan. so I was probably parked there until they came on that night. So that makes all the sense in the world I was there for all of it. so I would watch Dawson's Creek, I would watch One Tree Hill. And then of course, you know, you don't catch it on epode season one episode one. So you catch it like halfway through the next season and so you're like, okay, I gotta wait till it comes back. So I watched all of these. thenen suddenly I'm like, wait, why does his hair look like that? then I'm like, o this is the first ever episode. Okaykay? so I'm back on the journey It was one of those situations. So then I got hooked, started watching week to week. I was there with them. I loved it mubbed in So I'm someone who grew up being very like teens. like I was teen Bstreet boys. You couldn't tell me anything about inst. I was te Yeah Brity. But the first season on Wne Tree Hill, I didn't watch because I was team OC I was obsesseding. And it was on the same night as the OC. And then season two, it switch night. So I was able to watch it and I was like There's something to this One Treehill isn't there? Like these guysy's got a little panache. okay. All right, I see you. I was like I'm attracted to every single person on this show. Every single person, Absolutely. Yes, yes, yes, yes. So I know you said you loved soaps and everything. Did you have that same relationship with teen dramas like in general outside of One Tree Hill I did, but I feel like it wasn't all of the ones that everyone was talking about So like I was a big OC person. like that we would have like viewing parties for. season three, I remember where I was when the finale aired when Misha Barden and who? I remember all of them. Like out my fr shut up to Emily Weinstein. We' at Emily Weinstein's house. She had a little party. We all watch the big spring was she was loaded She had a big screen TV. We were all there with her popcorn, her beautiful dogs walking around. It was a time to be had So I like that kind of stuff, I remember veryy vividly O things though that I would watch, it was always like the after school thing for me. Like I feel like I never watched the teen dramers like dramas, goodness. drramas at night when like they were coming on week to week. It would always be an after school thing for me. So like I remember Teen Wolf Not Teen Wolf. Oh God, there was another one they came on at random. Un know that station they go from like free form to ABC familyily. It was bigig wolf on campus. I hate that were all these shows, but yes, I was a I feel like I fell into a lot of those shows like that one Greek I was really into like all of those kind of shows. So I was I feel like I missed a lot of big conversations at the time. but I was here for like the really obscure ones. So it would be like me and like another like random person in the corner talking about this while everyone else is talking about like vampire diaries. I miss the vampire Diaries movving and I hate that for me y thatpper me. W you good point going back to like the OC and viewing parties. And I understand streaming has been helpful for people to, you know, watch anything they want whenever, but there was something so special of not being spoiled. And the fact none of us knew Marissa was going to like we had an inkling someone was going to die. but I remember that so vividly and just sobbing Oh like, we were all nobody could believe that it happened. We're like, no, she'll be there season four. We're like no, literally's she's gone, y'all like I don't I don't know what to do. L like she she's gone. because then I remember like of course, like the internet, we're like internet sleuts the next day. So we get up there and they're like, Yp, creator confirms Misha Barton will not return for we're like, o God It's true. What are we gonna do? Like the OCa was such a Almost a fever dream because one of my favorite tropes with teen dramas are the ones where you can clearly tell like one of the actors is like an entire generation older than everyone else. And Ryan was very much dead like it felt like him and Peter were like contemporaries on this show sometimes. And I'm like, this feels weird, but I'm into it. So there we go. I completely agree. It's funny. I've seen some like online discourse about the show off campus and they're like, he's twenty eight, he's too old. And I'm like, we had a twenty seven year old thenen in Mackenzie being like a sophomore in high school. It doesn't shake us at all Literally it's so funny because he went from doing that show to being like a seasoned detective on another one. I was like, okay, that goes to show you the times right there. Now he's living his truth right now. That is so funny. Oh my Godd Well, this is something me and my fiancee always argue and now I might argue with you, but which show do you think holds up better? the OC or One Tree Hill? Oh. Oh boy You know what When I'm going to do a rewatch, I'm always choosing one reheal. So I oh boy that's a good. I haven't done OC rewatch in a minute. I feel like when it first came to Netflix, I was like, oh and then I like watched it then. but like I haven't done one in a minute I think I'm gonna to go oneree Hill. I'm gonna go one Tree Hill because I just think that like those early seasons especially It feels so of the time that you almost can't escape it. pllus I'm always a big fan of those like brothers or sisters that hate each other and then come together to like each other, like that kind of stuff. So I was always like nowadays I'm a big like like I still love like sister sister. Ecept if I can go back, I would replace Tamaria with Taj and then may be sister brother or something like that. I would make that show, you know, whatever. shhout of the T, shot of the Taj. But it's those kind of shows and like I love that. I love the coming of ADs. all that kind of stuff really kind of make those shows for me. OC is definitely the time, but I always feel like Maybe it's because The cast of OC really is a lot more private, I feel like than the cast of once you' here. like I feel like I can go on Incrll right now and scroll and I'll probably see like Stehven Coletti or like one of the other people actually like saying something on a red carpet or just like doing a reel or something where it's like Misha Barden, one of the other people like What I feel like I'm not going to get that. So maybe that's why I feel that way. I don't know That's a good point because Sophia Bush is still out there. Soophia Bush loves to do interviews. So I I think with the OC, it had like the perfect first season, but it's not as re watchatchable as onene tree hill. Crect. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I fully agree with that You know, when people talk about the greatest teen drums is, do you think Oy Hill gets enough credit still I do not because I think even like you just said, I think OC would probably get more credit with a lot of people than one tree heel w. I'm trying to think who like may might like get the title immediately because God there's so many to choose from. Like I think of so many like canceled after the three season shows like on a UPN or a CW or something. So I don't even know who like is a contender, but I feel like honestly Keep hearing podcast ads like this one, for example, but always wonder how you actually get involved with them for your own brand or organization? Well, it's easier than you think. We're ACast and we give you the platform to do it all yourself. Browse thousands of popular podcasts, choose the shows that match your perfect audience, set your budget and launch. And if you want a hand, our podcast specialists are there to help you launch with confidence. This is podcast advertising without barriers. Get started at acast d. com slash advertise You know what you'd have to do? You'd have to go in a room with people and if they're having this conversation, you'd honestly probably have to start singing the things sge I don't want to And then people would be like, oh my go and they end that are like jog their memories. I don't know if it's going to come up naturally though. So you know, we might have just do a little what like you know how to have control groups when they do like experiments. We might just have to, you know, poke the people a little bit and make them do what we want them to do that's all That's all we have to do. That's it. I think what helped One Tree Hill a lot because if you were watching in real time, every single season, it almost got canceled. You were kind of like com back. But Netflix helped so much. And I've met so many people who discovered the show through Netflix who have completely different like opinions about One Tree Hill than me. And I wonder if it's because I watched it real time I don't know You know you know what, everything plays into a generational stuff and 'ause I mean, think about it, we were also watching like top model live You know, itk it took a COVD rewatch for Ter to like be held to the carpet. So we were watching in real time like, you know what? that white woman makes a great a great black woman. like Wow, she really she really sold that to me. I love her afro. like we had no issues when it was happening like going on. So I do think that like the lenses in which we watch stuff, it really is shaped by time. So it probably is true I know for a fact, I could probably get into some arguments with some younger people about on you heal. Definitely. evenven like sex in the city when people are like, it didn't age well. I'm like, well, it's not nineteen ninety eight anymore. but it as if it was, it's not bad. It's really funny Exactly. That's so true. And I feel like when we do a lot of these like documentaries or these exposees about stuff of the time period. I feel like none of them actually talk about the time period enough. They talk about everything from a today land. and they just also kind of like I feel like they want to tell a certain story, but they also want to completely negate what the landscape looked like at the So if we're talking about this problematic like item or piece, this one thing in that time period, we also need to discuss the time period because yes, that time period, we might have been doing some really problematic things, but we need to highlight that as well. This wasn't just one problematic thing in todays society. No, it was back then when a lot of problematic stuff was happening from our to lenses. So got we got to tell the whole picture and I don't think we do that nearly enough I agree. And like hopefully we've learned from things, you know, like putting drunk seventeen year olds like they did on Lagouna Beach on TV would be good anymore. Right. Exact. O. Now that you say that the because in my head this whole time I' thinking like what is the like perfect or like who's the winner of the Ten drama one. If Lagona Beach had been scripted, that probably would have won for me. L I feel like that's the one because when I think back to high school and like the teen drama, even if it's like not scripted or if it's real like whatever it is, Laguna Beach always is like the one. and then, you know what's so weird I was stillagoa Beach, but then like I remember after that would go off, Hoover High would come on. And I feel like I'm the only person that ever talks about Hoover High. Like no one ever talks about Hoover High, but I was obsessed with Hoover High. So I hated no one talked about it. That was like there was a show called Twad Days. I think it only went on for like one season and it was out of high school in Texas. and I was obsessed with that show too. Yes Yes, gosh. We need to you know what? y'all are not giving these shows enough credit. I was there for it, okay Justice for Hoover H and Tiday. Damn it We were there when the ancient text was written. We lived it. Yes, Eactly I know we've kind of gone all over the place, which I had a great time doing. for onene Tree Hill, did you have a favorite season that you can remember? I always go back to the OG. I really like number two as well, but I always go back to the OG season. I feel like that really like had you only had that one season and like maybe a different finale, I almost feel like that could have been a limited series in a way because I feel like they just told such a complete story crux of everything like we had a lot going on. we had like the Kith of it all, the Dan of it all. We had a lot of different stories going on. but I think at the crux of it I always thought that Luke and Lucas and Nathan were really like focal points. And so as long as we got them on one acccord at some point, I always was like, okay, this story is now like starting to take place. I always think The episode where what was it? they had like beat that other team where whatever happened and like their c like stopped out of gas and then they, you know, that's was like kind of really brought them together because they had this like really bad experience together. I always love those kind of episodes of like older TV shows because I feel like we need something. It's always that one bad thing and it happens to both of them that brings people together. So I always look forward to those episodes. Totally bring back filler episodes too, because filler episodes help move a storyline. like I cannot tell you how much I hate a ten episode if your're lucky season.. How can you watch a character grow at all Exactly. Unless it's a limited series, then okay, perfect because I love a good limited series. But if we're doing season at the season, are you only giving me five six, seven, eight episodes like can't grow with this person. Brit, you know what These writers and directors are cowards now. Bring back those random filler episodes where like they're suddenly doing a Western or they're suddenly like doing a musical or something. L give us those episodes. I'm like, you know what He could make it on Broadway one day. I love that for him. Now don't have to worry about him outside the show. I love that for me. Like a random episode of the OC where Ryan plays soccer and then we never hear of it again. Why not? Y. Why not it's like Give us that. Give us that, you cowards, let us have it. I love that. Now honestly, my favorite season of One Tree Hill is season three and this is really it's because of the school shooting episode And people I think that episode's done so well. And also like I love a love triangle. I truly deeply love love triangles. and I feel like the Payt Lucas Brook was really doing its thing that season Yes. Also I listen, R IP Keith, s's we're talking about the school shooting. R IPR guy Keith, Yes That one it really does like I feel like When you really kind of think about it, it's so kind of weird to say, but It almost feels like the original like back dooor pilotte to like the drama in a way with Zendaya and Robert Panson. Like that one, it almost feels I don't know. that whole thing's like this kind of feels like It's we get the tain romance of it all. we get this incredible scandal, which is the school shooting, but it's also like this you know person using something that's bad Sir fulfill their own evil prophecy to take their own. I mean, it's hard for a villain to take yet another heel turn, but Dam take even another heel turn during that season. So you're right that one is that's a really good season. You're right And they were talking about it before people were really talking about that happening in our countriry. Shut up to Ory Hill for being ahead of the time. Look at them. shout out. the same way like Dawson's Creek, like it finally they treated a gay character with an actual like storyline. So yes. they weren't like you Right? Or the side character like runs in there just like, Oh my guy girlfriend, you're hilarious. Like we're like, okay, we actually get somebody that's like gonna find a romance. that's gonna be in incredibly masculine settings and still like work. So yees, listen, our OG our OGs did what they needed to do sometime. Love that for them And I do think Dawsin's Creek would be people's answer for like the OG teen drama I think so too. I think so too As a child. Yeah, listen, great stuff. I mean, there aren't too many shows where like everybody kind of goes on to stem because. I mean we got Joshua Jackson, who's always in something. We got Katie Holmes, She's, you know, always doing something. getting d railed about Jamie Fox sometimes. But when he's out of the picture she's able to act and stuff like that you know, R IP James Vanderbek, you know, he was doing his thing too. So I always think that really kind of Tails a lot. It's like Euphoria. O Maybe that well no, I don't know if that needans. Okay. we're gonna leave Euphoria out of this everyone, but. because then we got to talk about this last season and you know, it. We're just gonna Yeahah we're gonna we're going to leave that to the side. But' like that kind of show though where we literally got Zendaya Jacob Lordi, Siddney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Dimmy everybody kind of goes on like doing her own thing outside of the shs where it's almost like not needed. That kind of tells you like I feel like the cultural importance of that piece of like that artifact in a way. So I think Dawson's Creek I think might be an appropriate answer. I think I can get on board with that. I can get on board with that Now this is a question about Wentry Hill that could have many answers, and I'm curious yours because I think everyone has their own answer. Which character do you think was the heart of the show While every other channel is fighting for your customers' attention, podcasts are where they've already given it No one accidentally listens to a podcast for forty five minutes. They choose to be here. They trust the voice in their ears, and when that voice talks about your brand, it doesn't sound like advertising. It sounds like a recommendation from a friend. ACast gives you that trust at scale. Digital precision, host read authenticity, and performance data that proves it worked Don't fight for attention. buuy it with ACast. Learn more by visiting Acast d. com slash advertise Oh Eland You know what? I might this might be a little rogue I'm gonna say Haley P Is that your answer to? That's my answer too. Look at the see that look at that, one accord, one accord. I love that. I always felt like she was that perfect bridge between Nathan and Lucas and Lucas was so betrayed when she got with Nathan. but then like she had her own like kind of coming of age story, like the tattoo and all this kind of stuff. but She was really in love, then he could that was his best friend, so he couldn't help but to get on board. It was a kind of a little like underbelly of his already nasty relationship with Nathan. I just kind of felt like she really drove plot, but she was also kind of like the recenter that everybody needed so often. So I'm always team Hailey. I want nothing but the best for Hailey always I love that you said Haley because a lot of people say it's Brooke and later seasons, you could maybe say Brooke, but even when like Brooke and Payateon were fighting, they're both friends with Haley Right, right, exactly. I think I just think Haley is that kind of constant northern star on that show. like she's are are always what is it called? like not the neutral good but like the good good. She's just the good good one on there that you know, obviously she messes up sometimes. She's, you know, I mean, she she went on the road, got kissed. That's okay. That's okay. You know, people get kissed sometimes. That's all right. And so she makes her way back, she finds her way there She's one of the ones that's always just so genuine on the show. and I've always liked it about her. What's funny is re watchatching it now that I'm older. I'm like, she should have stayed on the road. They should have like out later. Let him go to the NBA, let her be a rock star. They'll figure it out eventually. They would make their way back to each other. Absolutely. Yes Oh my God, it's the ElC of it all. the girl that should have went to Paris. my God Oh. Damnit LC, Damnit Haley. Damnit Haley so funy. Who do you think was the most underrated character? 'cause for me It's Rachel Gatina, the bad girl Yes. Oh my good. you know what? I feel like that was one of the things that like made me start doing rewatches Be I don't know where I went, but I like got dropped in to I think it was after the topop model one time. I feel like they started coming on after topop model like same night one year And I remember staying tuned to like watch it. And I was like, wait a minute because I wasn't like watching I don't think season or season at the time. And I was like, wait a minute Who is this? I'm kind of I kind of see it for her. Who is this girl? because I love that's why I love Brook early seasons. I love Rachel naturally. I'm like, you know what She is just somebody that's like want wants absolute hell race for everybody. and you know what, fair Why not? It's a small town. why not I knew I was gay from like a young age, but when I saw Rachel Gatina, I like couldn't deny it anymore. It was like o, uh oh, this is like and I'm watching it with my mom and I'm like, she's like funny, right? like I like started questioning my sexuality but the opposite way. I'm like, Wait a minute. I'm like, maybe the picket white fence isn't so bad. Hold on, okay. Is a good beard? I don't know. Right. I love the color lavender, and it's amazing. o. Okay, so obviously eventually One Tree Hill goes completely off the rails. One tree Hill, the writers used to like smoke crack and then write an episode.. I'm going to give you A few different scenarios, and can you tell me which one was your favorite Yes. I know which one one of them is and I think that's already my answer, but yes, go ahead. Nathan getting kidnapped by like The mafia or whatever season nine was. The Western shootout A dog eating Dan's heart Psycho Derek in Nannie Carey. Can you vote for any of those? Are there any that you're like, Actually, that was a good one You know what? Looking back because one of the things I've said was I really kind of feel that Dan was at the heart of a lot of ridiculous things on this show. that I really don't think You can beat Dan and that that heart transplant thinge lives, rents in my mind. like I mean, listen, who hasn't gone to the hospital, you know, seen a dog, the leash is there, been going for a transplant. The transplant guy comes, trips, the heart falls and then the dog eats it. Like that's completely normal day. that's a normal Saturday in Memphis here people. So if if you can't handle it, don't come to Memphis. I literally think that Dan was like in the mess of it all every time. And I think about that and that shootout episode because I think he had like in the car if I'm not mistaken in the car ride there, he like held the guy up. He was like, he said some line that was so ridiculous. I was like, you know what? I'm along for the ride. I don't care. He said something like, what was it? Why am I in the front seat or something like that? He wass like, 'use you're rid shotgun. He holds the gun out. I was like, o God, what's happening right now So you know what Dan, I'm going to defend you. I'm going defend both of those things because you know what? you needed a heart and you needed to have an old Wesn shootout. So why not? I were not I love Dan Scott. I think he's a really fun villain, but I also think he's one of the best actors on the show Yes Eactly, exactly. It's like I always feel like that episode to the shootout That was like the original like euphoria finale like that was I feel like Sam Levinson watched that episode in preparation to write this final season because I mean, that is listen, I love that Dan was at the heart of the school shootout episode and Dan like has his own like shootout rescue mission that he needs to conquer to get his soner back. I'm like, you know what? Atlanta you and Nathan finally getting on one page again. why not Why not That was the mission anyway. Wh who cares The storyline I'm gonna defend is psychoereic. Okay. Okay, o. Not the second time. notot when he came back after Paul like, not that one. The first go. Not that one. Yeah. The first go ' Peyton was very online. L she had a podcast before we knew what podcasting was. She had a live video feed of her bedroom And I think it was an important message to send to teenage girls being like, you could get a stalker because The internet was still kind of new at the time and social media was still very new. It was like, be careful, donon't go looking for your brother Online, just make a video Right. Hayden was the character like went and did her mom find her or did she go and find her? L herer mom found her. F her okay. Yeah And her mom died and like her adoptive mother died, her biological mother showed up and also died about pain. I kind of defend her because I'm like, you can only go through so much before you turn bad honestlyions. L seriously, like we talk about heel turns, but like at a certain point, like y'all are pushing me this. It's not a heel turn. it's a heel push afterfter a while. Like, damn, I can't have anything in life. I can't have nice things. What's going on? so funny. Goodness. Well, I mean, I guess to wrap up this conversation What are some Moments that absolutely wrecked you with One Dree Hill. Can you remember anything that ever brought you to tears with One Dre Hill, whether it's a music moment or whatever O, listen, as much as Tam Nathan as I was I did love Lucas too. likeike, you know, we love all the characters That moment when he was like, I think they were like trying to revive Haley and then he just like passes out. I was like, oh, no, his heart, his ever loving heart. like he didn't get much from Dan, but damn it Dan, you had to give him this heart. And then he passes out. I remember thinking, okay, well, he's dead, so that sucks, but at least it's not Nathan. No, I'm I just remember like that moment because I don't know if it was like the Disha Bartinot at all or what, but I was like, you know what? this is this is too much for me right now. I can't handle another tam death. I will I will not handle another tame death. That and I always vividly remember too Nathan jumping in the water Like after the car had crashed off the bridge and him jumping in the water and Haley just standitting up there screaming. I was like, o no. like every season has to end was like the world's greatest tragedy. And I'm just like, God, I have to me as a teenager, I need to like just go and sit in my corner and like do like damling of stress for three months until they come back. I'm like God The three breaks of it all and again. Yes. If you didn't live through the fall breaks and the summer breaks and not knowing spoilers and which cast members would come back ight. it's so crazy to think about that now that literally every single thing We almost know what's We know who's coming back. We know who was like this and like even if a character dies' announced that they're coming back, we're like, okay, I wonder if they're going to save them or if they're gonna be a ghost in the episode or what's gonna happen? L all this kind of stuff. We knew nothing. We knew nothing that was going to happen because sometimes, you know, you go on to oh, we got a summer show. We got a big Bother coming on. So I'll focus on that. And then by the time you look up Oh the new season start. Oh my Godd, I forot all about Lucas and Nathton and what happened to them. Are they coming back to the show? And then they came back alive and you're like, okay, well great. look at that. I can live another year. Look at me. I have a will to live. Thank God, I don't have to live through another Marissa Cooper moment. Right, goodness. I do think teenagers today are very robbed of not having a proper teen drama experience because even like off campus, I know they try and market that as more of like a teen show. I would say maybe the summer I turned pretty, but they need to bring back those CW shows to ease people into the euphoras and other
