Joe Beningo back with you again. The Yoda Pain Podcast Monday, April 27, 2026. Of course, the Odapane Podcast brought to you by Manscaped and Anita Discount Tire. I will a lot to cover the jet giraff We'll get to that. The Knicks with the uh great win in game four beat the crap out of the Hawks. We'll get to we'll get to that uh game five Tuesday at the Garden. I gotta start with the disaster that is the New York Mets. What a freaking disaster. Right? They've now lost what is it? I but what is it now? 15 of the last 17 games . A get score one run in a sweep, a double headed sweep at the hands of the Powerhouse Colorado Rockies, which I say that very with tongue in cheek, where they score one run, and that run is a home run by Tyron Taylor. And that's it. I mean, you gotta be kidding me. They're nine and nineteen. They're ten games under five hundred. We haven't even gotten to May first yet. The season's over. This team is d one. Okay? And you could talk all you want about firing Carlos Mendoza, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he's gone. And now you're hearing, oh, bring Alex Corrin, oh the Red Sox fired him. Oh, he's one of the best managers. Alex Corrain making a hill of beans of a freaking difference on this baseball team. And why the hell would he want the job with this sinking mess of a ship? I am so sick and tired of hearing, you know, the same old, same old about the team and about the manager and this and that. No. And I've said this and I'm going to continue to say it over and over again until hopefully it finally happens. There's only two people that are responsible for the disgrace, the disaster, the just complete whatever you want to call it that this baseball team is. And that's Steve Cohen, the owner, and more so than anybody, David, I'm smarter than you are. I went to Harvard. I'm a genius, Stearns. That's it. Okay ? There's nobody else responsible for this but them . Case closed, stop right there. David Stearns was allowed to destroy this baseball team by the owner. He sat back, he sat back cohen, and he basically, like I say about Nero, you know, he fiddled while Rome burned. You know, Stearns fiddled while the Mets burned. And Cohen sat back, you know, with his stupid little med hat on, counting his money from the hedge funds, and oh by the way, when when are we building the casinos? That's the bottom line. He destroyed this team. He got rid of the heart and soul of this team. He got rid of Alonzo. He got rid of Nimmo. He got rid of McNeil. He got rid of Diaz. I understand Diaz is hurt right now. I get it. Even Diaz with chips in his elbow was better than freaking Devin Williams. I am sick and freaking tired of everybody making it, you know, going on about everybody else, but who the real culprits are. And then when you hear the reasons and there's all kinds of rumors out there about why these guys are gone, okay? And they have nothing to do with baseball. You've heard all the rumors, and I believe it. Why shouldn't I? The way this world is now, I totally buy it. And I don't want to get into it. You know what I'm talking about. And it's more than just, you know, the fact that these guys were three homegrown Mets, okay? They got a lot more in common than that. And you know what we're talking about. It is a freaking disgrace. It really is . Above and beyond a freaking disgrace. So I don't want to hear it anymore. It's all about David Stearns. And I'm gonna tell you right now, I want to see this team have a complete and utter collapse this year where they maybe they win 70 games. It would be worth it to see this guy fired . Stop blaming Carlos Mendoza. Yeah, he's gonna eventually pay with his job, okay? And I don't want Alex Cora. And by the way, do you think Alex Cora wants to come here? Like I said before, you don't want this job. And I don't want him. I've heard stories about him too. All right? And I don't want to get into what, you know, where he's at, okay? I don't want to get that's just what we need another one of those guys, okay? I don't I I uh you know, you can read into whatever you want what I'm talking about, but whatever. I don't want Alex Cora . If anybody's gonna get to be the manager of this team, it should be one guy and one B only one guy only, and that's Carlos Beltran. He got screwed the first time. He got screwed with all the crap in Houston, right? They're finally retiring his number. They finally put him in a hall of fame. Now it's time to make him the manager if you're gonna dump Carlos Mendoza. I don't want this bench coach, whatever the hell his name is, Correa or some guy like that. I don't want him. And I don't want Alex Cora. I want a Met. You know what I want? I want a Met . I am disgusted with this freaking organization. I'm disgusted with Steve Cohen, who sold us a big bill of goods, right? We all couldn't wait for the Will Ponds to leave. I wish the Will Ponds are on this team now. I I I I say what you call me nuts. I wish the Will Ponds on this team now. Because you know what? Pete Alonzo would still be on the team. Brandon Nimmo would still be on the team. Jeff McNeil would still be on the team. Edwin Diaz would still be on the team. Soto wouldn't be on the team. And what exactly is he doing for us anymore? You know, he hit forty-three home runs last year, right? Drove in 105 runs. You know why? Who was hitting behind him? Lonzo and Nemo. Who's hitting behind them now? Carlos uh Francisco Alvarez ? Bo Bachet? Come on. What a dis What a disgrace. There was an inst ance yesterday in the game, if you watched this the first game at a doubleheader. It had they had runners on first and second with one out, and Soto was up. And I'm saying to my wife, they're not pitching to Soto. He's never gonna see a pitch day here. He had Robert, he had two right hand, it was a right-hand pitcher, he had two right-hand hitters coming up after Soto. He had Robert, he's another, he was another great move. He had Robert and uh the absolute stiff of stiffs, Mark Viento, is coming up after that. You'd think that Soto was gonna see a pitch to hit there? Of course not. Of course, Soto walked. And of course, Robert struck out, and Viento struck out in ning over, game over for the most part. For all yeah, for the most part. Unbelievable. Unbelievable . Soto 's not going to have any kind of year this year because they're never going to freaking pitch to him. Never. In any kind of big spot. He's never getting a pitch to hit. It is a freaking disgrace. And is only two P. You I don't want to hear about Mendoza. I don't want to hear about Lindor's injury. I don't want to hear about Soto. I don't want to hear about it. We could get on all you know you know and obviously look, I'm tired of Vientos, I'm tired of Beatty, I'm tired of Alvarez, I'm tired of everything. It comes down to two people and two people alone. Cohen Cohen and Stearns. That's it. They have destroyed this team. That's who's the blame here. That's there's no other way to say it. And nobody, everybody in the freaking media is afraid to say it. Every freaking body. God forbid we, you know, we get the owner or the the uh complete a-hole general manager. God forbid we say anything bad about them because Stearns is a freaking genius. Believable. I am beyond disgusted. I'm tired of Sanger, I'm tired of him being stiff, I'm tired of David Peterson, I'm tired of Devin Williams, I'm tired of all of it. Let him win sixty games this year and get this goddamn guy Stearns out of here. Get him out . Admit, Steve, you made a big mistake. Admit, Steve, that you sold the Met fans a bill of good s. We were gonna be the Dodgers of the East. Remember that? We were gonna win a championship in three to five years. Remember that? My ass, this team is farther away from a championship than you know, they've ever been. And think about this, okay? Think about this too. All right. Every time that the Mets have let iconic players go from Seva to Strawberry to Now Alonzo , the team has gone into the tank for a number of years, and they are in the tank now . Let's be honest about it . After the Mets traded Seaver in 1977, it took them all the way to nineteen eighty-four until they were a pr uh a competitive baseball team again when Davy Johnson got here. Okay? When Davy Johnson became the manager. They brought strawberry up the year before. They made the Hernandez trade in 83, and it wasn't until 84 that things started to turn around. Seven years, eight years after the Seaver trade. After they dumped Strawberry and let him walk to the Dodgers and one of the old thank you so much, Frank Cash , another asshole. Rest in peace, Frank . Okay ? After they did that, right? They weren't a decent team again for eight years. Not seven, I think in 97 they actually came back. I think when Bobby V got there and they won like 88 games in ninety-seven. You know, and then they made the Piazza trade and and you know finally got better. They got to the World Series in 2000. It took them seven or eight years after the strawberry mess to be good again. And now that they've let Alonzo and Nimmo and McNeil go, specifically Alonzo . Actual prices may vary. Limited time offer. They're on their way to another almost a decade of abyss. That's where they are . These young players now maybe Carson Bench turns into a player. I hope he does. Maybe Nolan McClain turns into the pitcher, you know, that with that we all hope he will be. So far he's basically a five-inning pitcher. That's really pretty much what he's been. We can only hope that. Right? Maybe Ronnie Mauricio now he's going to get a chance and should be playing every day. I don't want to hear I think it's over for Vientos, Beatty, and Alvarez. I've had enough of those guys. I really have. I'm done with that. I'm done with him . But the bottom line on his team, and there's there's nothing you can say whatever you want about whatever you want. It comes down to two people . It comes down to Cohen. And by the way I'm sure we'll see Cohen by the way at the Garden on Tuesday night with that shitting grin on his face as his team continues to shit the bed . As he's sitting courtside with at the garden. Unbelievable. I am disgusted as a Met fan. But I'm ready for a horrific year. I want it. 'Cause I want this guy out. I want Stearns out of here. I want we we all remember we all thought Sandy Alderson was terrible, right? We thought Brody Van Wagen was terrible, right? We thought Billy Epler was terrible. No, we got terrible now. The little genius unbelievable with that smug look on his face, like I know more than you do. Give me a freaking break. I want my team to win 60 games this year, and I want Stearns out. That's what it comes down to. Unfortunately, the owner's not going to leave. I want Stearns out. He destroyed he alone, him and the owner destroyed this team. Unfortunately, Carlos Mendoza, we'll see if he's even a manager tomorrow. Unfortunately, Carlos Mendoza's gonna pay the price right now . Unbelievable. Yeah, Stearns blamed everybody. He blamed the coaching staff last year. He got rid of everybody but Mendoza. He blamed, you know, three absolutely heart and soul players of this team for Counton Diaz . Right? He destroyed this team. There's nobody to blame but the owner and the general manager, the president, whatever you want to call him of this baseball team. What a freaking disgrace. Okay? Enough is enough. Let's tell it like it is about why this baseball team is absolutely shit right now . Let's get the sponsors in here before we get to the Knicks and the Jet Draft and all of that. Still waiting for that, you know, for that offer to be the national spokesman for Manscape. I know I'm not a good-looking guy. I know I'm not young, right? I know I don't have a body like DK Metcalf, but with that said, I still should be the spokesman, the national guy who extols the virtues of manscape better than I do. Nobody. Check out Manscaped. See Jotty Anita Discount Tyre, Westwood Avenue, beautiful Rivervale, New Jersey. All right. Let's get to the Knicks. Game uh game four. They beat the crap out of the Hawks. They did what they should have done all along. Uh a monster performance by Carl Anthony Towns. Became only the fourth Nick ever to have a triple double in a a playoff game by joining Clyde Frazier, Dick McGuire, and Josh Hart, who did it last year. Clyde did it four times. Just a phenomenal game for Towns. 20 points, 10 and 10, rebounds and assists. How many times did you see Towns hit an OG Ananobi under the basket for layups or dunks? It must have been five or six times. We saw him do that. Ananobi had a big game, scored 20 points, had eight rebounds himself, played stellar defense. And you know what? They did this, getting basically nothing from Jalen Brunson. I mean Brunson had 19 points, actually got hurt at some point in the game. He twisted his ankle, had to leave the court for a while. But he was terrible. He had six turnovers. How many times did we see? And I'm tired of seeing this. And I love Brunson, no doubt about it, tremendous player. All of that . I am tired of seeing Brunson dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble into double teams and turning the ball over. How many times we gotta see that? Like I said, he had six turnovers the other night. The Knicks played better when he was not when he wasn't on the floor. I'm sorry, they did. Towns was unbelievable. Ananobi, Josh Hart all over the place, doing what all the the different Josh Hart things that he does. He had an outstanding game and also guarding CJ McCollum. You know, finally, Mike Brown got smart and put Josh Hart on McCollum. And he was really a non-fact in this game. The Knicks were never in trouble in this game. They took they took the lead early. They were never behind, and they basically just buried the Hawks. The final score was 16 points. It could have easily been 30. The bench was outstanding. You know, Clarkson had a solid game. Alvarado, his usual feisty self. Deuce McBride's been terrific the last two games. Deuce with 26 points off the bench in the last two games. He's been hitting threes. He's really been looking good . He does. Now I look , I said before the series started the Knicks will win in six. I stay with that. I think they're gonna win the next next two games. I think they'll win Tuesday night at the Garden, and I think they'll finish him off on Thursday in Atlanta. Uh you know, especially with all the Knicks fans there. I mean unbelievable. You see the amount of Knicks fans in Atlanta? Believable. Plus all the old Knicks were there too from Atlanta in Atlanta, Ewing, Stalks, Allen, Houston, right? They were all sitting there the other night. I love that. I love seeing the ex Knicks. Even Charles Oakley was there, and I didn't see him. Because Oakley, of course, Dolan won't let him into the garden. We all know the nonsense that is , but that's the story. But Oakley was in Atlanta and what I hear he wasn't sitting too far from Dolan. I wonder if he uh sent them a uh a hello card, a greeting card or something like that. I don't know. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But I feel good about the Knicks now. I think they'll take care of business. By the by the way, what was the final what was the final last night? Because I didn't see this. The Celtic, the Celtics were way ahead when they had the game on. What was the final score? The Celtics and the uh seventy sixers last night, Ted. Give me that. Okay. Give me that final. I'm sure Boston probably won. They're gonna be up three games to one. They're winning that series. There was never a doubt that they would. Yeah. What was the final? 28, ninety six. They only w ent by thirty one. You know. Thirty two I guess, ninety six. Yeah, ninety six, right? Yeah. Thirty two point win. I had the game on for a while last night. They were way ahead. I knew there was you know, it wasn't wasn't any point watching anymore . It's going to be Knicks Celtics in the second round, and it's going to come down to the Knicks beating Boston Boston. That's it. The winner of that series, and I'm going to continue to say it, will win the Eastern Conference. And it will not be easy bleeding the Celtics this time. But the Knicks got to take care they got two more games to win yet. And we hope we don't get and we don't need to get to a seventh game. Knicks need to take care of business tomorrow and then take care of business on Thursday. They're clearly the better team . Game two, they lost by a point. They blew that game. They handed that game. They're in control. They handed that game to the Hawks. And then game three in Atlanta, they fell behind and then took the lead late and then some bad decisions late. You know, Mike Brown, you know, just give Brunson the ball and let him clear it out. That doesn't work. You know, everybody knows in a big spot Brunson's taking the shot. It's time to go elsewhere. Let Ananobi take that shot. Give the ball to Carl Anthony Towns. Let Deuce McBride take it. You know? I don't care. Even Josh Hart, an open Josh Hart, I'll take my chances. But I'm tired of seeing Brunson go one on five and dribble the ball into oblivion. That's gotta change. And like I said, I love Jalen Brunson. But they were a bet you the g in the game in game four, the Knicks were a better team. They played better basketball when Brunson was not on the floor . I mean, you say whatever you want. Not that I don't want to see him out there, of course. But they got it. There was one sequence in the game in Atlanta, right, in game uh four, where they moved the ball like every guy on the f on the on the team touched the ball. And they eventually got a wide open three that Brunson sunk, that Brunson made. That's what I want to see from this team. Ball movement. Everybody get involved. Not the not number eleven, going one on fift y and then turning the freaking ball over . So I fully expect that they're gonna take control, take care of this series now. I said they'd win in six all along. I'm sticking with that, and I think they will. I think they'll win Tuesday and win Thursday and on to the Celtics in round two, which is really gonna be the telling series for this Nickebacker team, if they're gonna get where every Knicks fan wants them to go this year. That's the bottom line. All right. Now , let's get to the jet draft. I am ecstatic with what my football team has done here. For the first time in a hundred years, I actually feel that we have a management team that knows what they're doing. And I gotta give Glenn credit too. I know we give all the credit to Muji and I love Muji, but Glenn's involved in this too. And what they did in this draft was off the charts. Now you never know. They still who knows? It's only a lot, they're only lottery tickets, we all know that. But what they did in free agency, what they've done in the draft, right now you're a Jet fan. You can't wait for the season to start You really can't. I love what they did. Three they wind up with three picks in the first round. They take David Bailey with the second overall pick. You know, people would say, oh no, R. Vel Reese, R. Vel Reese . Okay, fine. The Giants got Reese. That's all well and good. Good for them. He fell right into their lap. You knew they were going to take him. But I love Bailey. This guy's a monster pass rusher. When's the last time we had that? I don't want to hear about John Abraham. And the last time we really had a big time pass Russia, the guy's name was Mark Astonov 40 years ago . Joe Klecko, 40 years ago. That's the last time. I expect this guy Bailey to be a big time superstar. He was the second pick in the draft . He was the best number one defensive player taken. I expect him to be Miles Garrett. I expect him to be Bruce Smith. I expect him to be Aaron Donald. That's what I expect him to be. And I love the guys they brought in. I love this guy, Kenyon Sadiq. He looks like a real freak athlete at tight end out of Oregon. I love him. I love Omar Cooper, who Boogie traded back up into the first round to get out of Indiana? I love the kid, D'Angelo Pons. They took the cornerback they took out of IU in the second round. He's really a, you look at his size. He's basically an Aaron Glenn clone. He's exactly the same size Aaron Glen n was. Tremendous. All four of those guys have to be playing and be making a big impact next year. Every one of them. Every one of 'em. I heard some people saying, well, you know, we'll see. No, they're all gonna be what do you mean you're gonna start? Of course they are. Every freaking one of 'em. I love what they've done here. Even some of the low rounding, even even drafting, you know, everybody I'm getting a text from from Joe y, right? Joey and Clark, right? Who's the you know, when it comes to negativity, there's nobody more negative than him. Okay? I mean, negative his middle name is Joe Negative Clark. Joe Negative Clark Torriello. That's his name. Okay ? So he texts me after they move up to get Klubnick. Oh, Mooji made a mistake. What's he doing? No, no, no. No. He knew all along what the hell he was doing. This was the quarterback they were targeting. Kate Klubnick out of Clemson. And say whatever you want about Klubnick, okay? The bottom line on this guy, he played he was a starting somehow to scream just oh we're back. We're good. We're good. Oh. Uh we had a momentary glitch there.. We're all good back Is it all right? Yeah. Okay. Say whatever you want about Klubnik, okay? Right ? The guy started for four years at Clemson, right? Two years ago was a junior, he threw thirty six touchdown passes. He only threw 16 last year with 16 touchdowns, six picks last year. Clemson wasn't very good. But they've been a top program for a long time under Dabo Sweeney. He knew exactly what he was doing. And look, Clubnick's not here to be the franchise quarterback going forward. If that happens, I'd be doing a dance, but I don't think that's happening. He's here to be the back up to Geno Smith. Geno Smith is going to play. The bottom line is Geno Smith's going to play. And say whatever you want about Gino. Man, here's one thing about Gino. Gino can throw a pass, unlike Justin Fields. Gino can throw the ball downfield, and he's gonna do it. And he's got the weapons to do it now. With Garrett Wilson, with Omar Cooper, with Kenyon Sadiq, with Mason Taylor. He's got the with with uh KZ Mitchell. He's got the weapons to do it now. And you watch Brees Hall is gonna have a monster year. He's playing for a contract as they got the franchise tag on him. He's playing for a contract . And maybe the most important move the Jets made all offseason bringing in Frank Wright to be the offensive coordinator . And you know one thing: Frank's gonna make sure Brees gets the football. They're gonna throw the ball to Brees Hall. Last year with that, you know, with Fields a quarterback, they never threw the ball to him . Taylor Angstram as the old coordinator, they never threw the ball to Brees Hall. Brees Hall is going to have a monster year. You watch. He's going to be a mini Christian McCaffrey catching passes running the football. Keep an eye on that this year. Watch the kind of year that Brees Hall has with Frank Reich as the old coordinator and with a quarterback that can actually throw a pass to him in Geno Smith . The offensive line looks solid with the two bookend tackles, right? They drafted this kid out of Miami in the sixth round, this guy, what's his name? Cooper, right? To play guard. He's like 315 pounds. He may be penciled right into start on the offensive line. I love what the Jets have done here. I love it. I love it. The free agency moves, Minka Fitzpatrick, the Mario Davis, trading for Devonde Sh Devonde Devondre sweat in the middle of that defensive line. They drafted that kid out of Florida State. Jackson, uh, another monster nose tackle at 315 pounds. They got him in the fourth round as well. I'm excited. If you're a Jet fan, you should be excited. And look, we're all down on Aaron Glenn, right? But I want Aaron Glenn to succeed. Really is there a Jet fan out there that doesn't want to see Aaron Glenn turn out to be the coach we've been waiting for for a hundred ye My family is more fun now of Disney World. Like me papa, he's super serious. But since he met Goofy, he's been laughing all day . Or my sister. I never thought she'd try out the fast rides. But Space Mountain was her favorite. And me? You know what I want? Here's what I want. Here's what I want. I want to see the Jets in December. You know what they when they show the graphic for the playoffs, right, late in the season? And they show who's in and I want to see the Jets in that column on the right that says the hunt. Okay? Right? You know, says in the hunt. That's why at the minimum, that's why I want to see the Jets next year when we're playing football in December. Meaningly, football, the season, not over
