I earned my degree online at Arizona State University. I chose to get my degree at ASU because I knew that I'd get a quality education, they were recognized for excellence, and that I would be prepared for the workforce upon graduating. To be associated with ASU both as a student and alum, it makes me extremely proud. And having experienced the program, I know now that I'm set up for success. Learn more at asuonline.asu .edu . All right, EJ, let's talk a little bit about how he Roseman's approach to tight ends in the draft because I think we expect that the Eagles are going to add at least one tight end in the draft this year. Dallas Goddard is back, but on a one year deal. Grant Galcotera, Johnny Munt, those nobody's signed through next season that I think would make sense for the Eagles to add a tight end. What do you know about like the way that he's approached this position in the past? Yeah, so he hasn't drafted a ton of tight ends over his his tenure. I think that's actually the biggest takeaway. Yeah, right. They just haven't why you know. Well, I think it speaks to the keys . Yeah. And then filled the room with veterans, but it just hasn't taken a lot of shots at the position. Yeah, I think it speaks to like when you look at the shots that they have taken, they've hit. It's Zach Ertz and Dallas Goddard as the two uh the the two prevailing ones there, and then Grant Calcutera as somebody who provided depth behind Dallas Goddard. Clay Harbour erasure here. I mean it's a fourth round pick, man. Yeah, I I was getting to him. Okay. I was trying to go uh in order of significance. Would you say Clay Harbour is more significant than Grant Calcutera ? Well, certainly pop culture wise. Well yes, as yes, he was on The Bachelor. Wasn't he didn't really have a lot of juice on The Bachelor, if I'm being honest here. That doesn't surprise me. Um but I didn't watch the season. Yeah. Uh I would wa now I would watch Krank Cockatera on The Bachelor. Oh, yeah. He'd have more Jews on The Bachelor. Of those four tight ends, who would you most want to watch on The Bachelor ? Probably Grant. I agree. Yeah. I think he'd be dynamic. Yeah, I think Grant's the answer. Yeah. Yeah. All right, that'll do it for the Peter Child My Eagles podcast. Um, so I wouldn't say that there's like a a through line with those guys where it's like, you know, elite testers or highly productive and copy. You know, not even a lot a ton of production from a very small school, tested awesome. Ertz, it was production. And didn't test very well. Right. Dallas Goddard, smaller school, tested well, but was more about just like this isn't this is a true overall tight end. And Grant tested okay. Tested okay. Yeah. Yeah. But had receiving upside. But I think Howie Roseman has given us a window into what he might be looking for in the draft. If we believe him. If we believe him. What did he say? He said before the scouting com bine, the tight end position starts with me evolving. From my perspective, I've always had an affinity for the receiving tight ends. I think that's shown in my work. As you evolve as a GM and as an evaluator, you watch what's out there, you're going to you've got to be cognizant about the fact that on some levels the game has changed there's room for both of those spots when you look at our room this year last season probably needed a more diverse skill set at that position now he said that and then they signed Johnny Munt. And then they signed Johnny Munt as a token before bringing back Grant Kakatara, bringing back Dallas Goddard, and signing Stone Smart. All guys who are like exactly the same thing. Now you can read that one of two ways. Maybe they will add a two-way combo tight end in the draft, and that will be them addressing it further. Or maybe Howie Rosen is going back to his old ways. I now I I don't think that Howie's wrong about this necessarily. I do think that if you're using resources, I I do think that the the harder thing to find is a is a a difference maker as a receiver. Uh I know that it's it's you know it's sexier and it's not as it's not as football guy, but I think I agree with him. And I'm as I'm watching the tight ends, those are the guys that I'm drawn to as well. But I think you just like you just need a guy who can check a box and stay on the field as a blocker. Yeah, from it. And I think he will add somebody who can do that besides Johnny Munt. From like a value upside perspective, I see where you're coming from, but I think from like a you need to be able to run an offense and uh Sean Manion what we expect from Sean Manion's offense, they're gonna need multiple tight ends who are at least adequate and preferably a plus in the run game as blockers. So I would expect them to target a combo tight end. I would expect them to target somebody who can really contribute in both facets. And I think you can draft somebody like that and you can then say like Dallas Goddard at his peak was that type of player and really unlocked what they could do offensively because he was capable of, you know, letting them run out of 11 and throw out of 12 because of the the fact Now the problem with that is this group, which we discussed in a full episode on the PHOY Eagles podcast, d it feels a little bit more bifurcated. It feels like you have your receiving guys, you have your blocking guys. There's not a ton of guys who can definitely do both. There's not a ton of guys under the age of twenty-four who can definitely do both. Well, so there's not a ton of guys who can definitely do both. Because nobody over twenty-four can definitely do anything. I think like Oscar Delp yeah doesn't have a ton of production as a receiver but I think he could squint and see some upside there. Joe Royer maybe yeah Joe Royer like theoretically
