Now now Chris Jim's had an eventful day. Yeah What what happened to your phone Well, my phone has disappeared and so I just had the iPad and one of the problems I've decided Egan, I gott to tell you, I want to go like a dry January when you don't drink. I want to try to go a month without my phone I really do exxcept for we had a problem tonight because Rosie, the housekeeper came by. I forgot to leave the money for her and I don't know how she's going to be able to reach me or for me to be able to reach her. And I lost my phone today because I was throwing sticks in the water for Sky, my black lab And it was in an area where it's calm of the Deschutz Rriver. And yet there's a little bit of a current there and she went and got the first two sticks and then the third time I threw it, she didn't want to go in right away and it allowed the current to take the stick out into the rapid part of the river and Sky got she saw the stick and she's like, well, I'm going to go after that. And then she tried swimming upstream. And then if you could have seen me, like I basically have one leg that's operational right now. And I was climbing over boulders trying to get down to the river bank so that I could grab her collar and pull her in. And I don't want to make this sound overly dramatic because I wasn't completely frantic, but I thought Shit, man, if my dog drowns because I threw a stick in the Deschutz river, that would suck And I knew that Kathy would probably divorce me because that's her dog. but Fortunately, it worked out. I ended up getting Sky, but then actually, P, get this. I was listening to you and Mitch at the time that this happened And all of a sudden all of a sudden, I couldn't hear and Mitch on the KJ Arts anymore. And I thought, o, well God, I must have just lost a reception. then and then I realized I had a, you know, a sweatshirt on It has the two sided pocket in front And the phone came out while I was trying to scramble and get Sky out of the river. And now we put GPS on it and I know where it is. I'm going to go down and look tomorrow. I think it's at the bottom of the river. It' ch Why are you going to look for it? It's the ph Be it might be in back It might be in the Rockery. It might be, you know, in the boulder area ' a chance of that. There's a chance. If there's a chance, you got to go findight it, Jim. Got to go find it. I like you I are getting away from far. I was actually glad I lost the reception of ucking Mitch. It's because Mitch, you know why? it's because Mitch was going off on talking about Shinnacock being so damn great and I'm firmly on board with Pucking on this one. That place doesn't look great to me at all. It doesn N not at all. So I was happy to lose the reception. you know, Mitch, you know, you can have your opinion or whatever. but Shinaccock sucks, man. And that Shinnacock sucks is brought to you by Oh, Batony Biden hates roofing There weop. There we. Chris, you know all about Bates roofing down there at Goop. We only say the mountains are blue and that's what we do. Okay, I think I'm new Jill Remember Park we used to have to say that. didnn't we choose Jill? No I think I'm the only one that ever calls a C minus. Whatever happened a Zema by the way, not a C minus, but a Zema. Zema. I ema. those good. Yeah, keep them icy cold like the c is light.. How old were you when you got drunk for the first time It fifteen H. And do you remember specifics Yeah Well, go ahead Well, I mean, just it was off old E The old E forties. Oh my go, you and I both oldld E fories. Yeah. I loved them. Yeah. I loved them Oh I didn't have them until college puck, but I did enjoy them at PLU being able Lord. Ke keep them in the paper bag just you just can't I get past the neck? That's the first step Just get past the neck. And then it's kind of smooth sailing until the until the bottom And then you got pour in the bottom, but ye, o. Okay, Chris. You know what? honestly, Jim, I'm not lying. It was not till college I there was so much I'm going to be honest. We had so much fear at our high school that if you were caught at a party you would get booted off one of your sports teams and it was just one of those And I mean, my mom, Luther Kindergarten teacher, you know, she she cracked. I mean, it was it was tight quarters at the Egan household. I mean, my wife will tell the story that I dated her for five years and my family didn't even know about her. uh because it was kept it very, very secretive. So yes. Bar Bar at a very tight ship at the Egan Household in Edgewood We couldn't wait for the parties after the games. My God, it was the best thing about sports in high school. I was fourteen, in case you guys are wondering, I was fourteen fourteen Yeah. Yeah, Jeff Marks's house and I can remember. You remember the first time that you drink? you sit there and you're drinking and you're going God, I don't really feel anything. I don't feel anything. I don't feel anything. and then it's too late Yeah. What was your first Okay, that's the first time you got drunk. What's your first What was your first drink 'use I know what my first drink was God, you know, I don't I can't recall that at all. It was something hard though. It was something Oh hard not beer. I see I went easy My first drink ever was a was a Henry Weinhards M rememember those Henry Weinhard, that was a good beer. Yeah was in the dad is in the dad's outdoor, you know, garage fridge. we popp those Henry Weinhards and thinking about halfway through like I don't get it. I'm not really I'm not vibing this Henry Weinhard No, God, I remember Cld Henry Weinhard was pretty good. It was kind of. We had we had down in Pop, we had the Bons wine. Boons Bons Oh Bon far. Boon farm wine. Yeahah. You can rest boons on the in Eduis oo. mayaybe I don't know if Mike and Stevie did this. I don't know if they still do this anymore. They would do this thing called senior golf all around campus. you would do this. you'd stop at eighteen houses Along the way, everyone had a party at graduation, you'd have a drink or two or four nineteen at each place And then the nineteenth hole was the coug where everybody drank a boon's farm Mm That's a good tradition. I bad one We didn't wait until the nineteenthole in Pewwalop. Yeah Pwal Men are built differently in Pwalop But we got plenty of pride, baby. plenty of. Yeah, you do. Oh yeah. Yeah, you do. Hey, we need to come I put Cole and Colt on the rundown So you two need to get your heads together. We need an old school Postico Bothers poster Of Colt Emerson and Cole Young. We need to come up with a nickname for these two because the CN C music factactory. rememember that? Yeah, you damn wriding too. Yes. Be that ride here,. takeake it run with. I've g it the gt. That's the biggest thing. Everyone's going to talk about Brian Wu from Thursday. Everyone's going to rave about Brian Wu's performance. and it was great But the fact is that you got your two cornerstone young players moving up in the lineup, by the way, fifth and sixth Yeah coming through offensively Oh my God, the future is bright with those two. Those two they're just old school baseball players both. Well the thing I love Puckage you go two days ago and Colt struggled, you know, in that loss and then he just comes right back and you know, I mean, he's twenty years old. We're talking We're talking about drinking. This guy can't even legally drink yet And he's out there. I mean, it's just amazing what he's doing. I like CNC Music factactory. I'm trying to remember some of their songs I think they were big in the nineties J. They were big. just a good I mean I never heard of them. Never Okay. No. Well the great the poster that came to mind right away from the am I assuming should I not assume that everybody knows the Costicco brothers Oh, that goes too far back. I don't think you can assume that. little deep, ye. God. Well it's almost like talking about Shinacck golf, I think less than one percent. Costaco Bothers was this group in from here from Seattle that made all these cool posters that were like based on movies with athletes. So they would have like Kenny Eley was dressed up as the enforcer. Oh Okaykay. well I know I know the posters. I just know the name of that. Yeah, that's that's also, you know, the posters like the land of the Bos in your thirties, you've never heard of the Costic Cost brothers. Probably not. but the land but everyone I would say they know the posters. They know the posters. Most everyone has seen the land of the Bos poster. That's That's the brothers who are from Seattle. They no longer make those posters. Like my favorite one and I still have it, it's somewhere is the Dale Ellis Silent Asassin one. That's a great one There's a great I like X Man with the Dalmatians. I'm not the Dalmatians. I think he had the Doverman The Doverman. He had the Doverman. you had, but the one I was thinking of with with Cle and Cole is the Bash brothers. That's the that's the that is the classic one withith Jose cononseo and Mark MagGuire as the Bash brothers it was a play on the Blues brothers Yeah, I like it. Okay When you mentioned the X Man though, you automatically go to the time he was trying to choke that guy out on the sideline. That was right That was phenomenal. of onene of the greatest of all time. One of the great. Now all I'm doing right now is looking at Costao Bothers posters They need to They didn't knew George Gervin the ice fand did they Yeah. I think so. Yeah. Oh that They did a great. I mean, they had so many good ones. I mean, it's just this is the plethor. The LT one where he's zapping the guy zapping the quarterback dead person's got a good one, John Eway, the rifleman. just a long list of I dont. And I think I think the kids would be into it. I don't know why kids aren't into posters anymore. Remember we used to always be into them. Oh Godd, yeah. I have Cl Carl Yastremssky, this is how old I am. I have Carl Yremssky in my bedroom Love it, ye And then in your longer les, Sar I know that's allold No, that's great to have. And then at your lock or at school, you know, I had the El McPherson swimsuit, you know, God. everyverybody got the E McPherson or the Kathy Ireland Yeah. or does Gathy Ireland E McPherson Who am I who's the other one I playing fet going back a little farther. Verif faucet for you. Cindy Cindy Taylor, right? No Cindyword. Cindy Craword. Cindy Crawford. Cindy Taylor used to host the that Soaps afternoon show on Gomo four. Wasn't that Cindy Tayl? Wasn't that Cy Taylor? No No It was Cindy something. What was that? What was her name? What was that show called on Gomo? was so pop. the Bob haircut. Oh my God.. I actually went to that show and watched from the audience. Yeah, you did. Cindy, what was her name It's not Cydy Taylor. It's oh my God. Oh I got it. I got it. You ready. tellell me about the there's a guy co host too, right? No, it was just her Just her by herself. Okaykay. Cindy Reinhard. Yeah Reinh There' Yeah. the queen of daytime soaps. And she just reviewed all the soaps. She just reed That was the show Wasn't there another show before an afternoon show? I mean, there was like a call show. They had a call. Alysa Alyssa Jaffe and somebody I. Alyssa Jaffe Alyssa Jaffy Hold on you wanna keep this around for a while. What happened to Cindy? Look at Cindy. look at old Reinhardt. Oh listen Classic classic That's when TV was great. Oh aw we had we had game shows on in the morning, then soaps, then Reinhard's she's recapping the day of on one Life to live and General Hospital and all that Nobody other ph They're not other phones. They' just watching TV, hanging out with the neighbors. I used to love being sick So I would stay at home and at ten o'clock I knew card sharks was on. Yeah Card sharks. Hollywood squares and all that stuff, man. past Now we I loveie Sears. Now I get Charlie. We were down in the left hand corner and Wally Cox in the middle. Yeah. That's going back probably before you guys were born. Now it's everybody is bitching emone and yelling at each other. swwear. There's no shows like fllipper. whereere you'd just callall for your dolphin to come help you at any time fllipper Whipper Oh It was the best Good TV. How Dolphin solve crimes that mud. It was unbelievable. All right. I was driving. I was coming back from the from Paul'sbow and on the Bainbridge Ferry coming coming back landed down in downtown Seattle. and I'm pulling out Chris, you've been down there, I assume. Yeah. I was down there a week ago. Jemet, you haven't been down there obviously you in bed. I'm telling you, it's you would you You'd be amazed what it's like down there. It's like Mardi Gras. It no unbelievable. And they done. Yeah. and trust me guys, it is going to be absolutely just incredible energy, patriotism. I mean the place is going to be packed and here's I mean, you know, I've talked to you too from from Rio, from from Paris, from from Milan and you know, we see the Olympics there. I mean, now take all that and bring it into Seattle. everyverybody rooting for team USA. It's going to be absolutely insane. And and I'm excited for the city because The city is going to be on full display and it's going it's just looking gorgeous down there. You couldn't have been Jim when I pulled off that ferry turned north goingo up the waterfront. You couldn't have a better picture perfect night. The sun is setting over the Olympics There's a ferry the ferry I just got off the Tacomas' headed back to Bainbridge There are fans. I think the Mexico game just got out All we just was finished. Mexican fans are just flooding the streets everywhere. Sounds vuuzilaas everywhere, drums being hit, songs chanting, singing, dancing. I mean, it's I mean it's unbelievable Yeah. And it doesn't m if you don't like soccer, I don't care. I mean just go enjoy it. just, you know, just just embrace it and have fun Well, yeah, and then tomorrow it's going to be even bigger than it's been to this point, right? with the Australians in town and and twenty two hundred to get in justust to get in price twenty thousand two hundred dollars And A they're going to they're going to drink the town dry, aren't they? Oh yeah, they ready had they alady had the beer snakes going, Jim. They were they had the beer snakes out. I think they said some Wld record for eating food outside the stadium. So there' they've been him s. Yeah. I think they did that, but it's It's going to be a part. I just don't know how you can drink so much before you get in the game, drink during the game and then still still be able to walk out. I'm amazed. Hey, Jim, just you and me real quick This is what happens when we do a show with a fucking guy that went to PLU. Yeah. thank you. you sit there to go, how can you do that? Chis, when you wonder about that, we did that every Saturday at Martin Museium, okay?iegan. ye Apparently you two were drunk at fourteen and fifteen, and I had to wait uil I was twenty one. but pinkkies up pounding boons after you. I didn't wit I't smoke I didn't smoke pot until my soore year in college. Okay, I mean, I'm gonna be h for me. I had way right to the lines in the bathroom right after it I had a nice dateight coaine. I never did.. But you would be proud of my PLU wife, Puck, you know. We went out the other night. We had a nice date night dinner. I had my C' light. She gets some mixed drink Waitress comes back, another one for both of you and I'm like, I'm gonna go with a diet Coke if you don't mind. And she looks at me just shakes her head and like not here. So I' you know, I'm a whip. I'm going and make a lot of money. years ago. whip. Park, I'm glad you picked up on that though, because how many times did we walk into Martin Stadium Hammered and then pull out whatever we smuggled in and had more then more after the game kept going that night. it's called you know what, Egan? it's called being a professional Yeahay. at POU we were pulling out the Bible. We weren't pulling out the liquor. come on. Well I can't wait to see what it's going to be like. It's just going to be. A flood of humanity And What's the line on the game? the the Americans favorite US. favorite but it's one hundred and sixty five Well can he five him I think that's what I think I saw last time. Oh let me pull it up for you. He by the way,. If some American, you know, that maybe lives down and bnd and has white hair bed on the Australian team, what would that be called? That's a thatriotic you can do it. You can do it. You them on a barge. put hold off on the barge, but Jim, I do want to compliment our host of the show because it was mister Pucket that I think he two weeks ago on this show said I think the Americans need an American coach and u It was the great Alan Hinton. I was talking to Alan Hinton that went that same route with you Puck. I couldn't believe. You know he's he's a soccer legend of these parts and he he agreed with you. I will say this about Mauriso I do like him. I mean, I like everything about him. He's got great hair, He's got a perfect five o'clock shadow. I like the way talk I mean, everything about him. Like I mean even the stuff when he's like calling it, you know the Americans don't know how to win and they're losers. Bically that was my favorite part I like them I just, you know, it would just be nice to I'm just a Schmutzer fan This is the whole angle is just to get Brian Schmzer to be. We want Brian Smzer. You know what I also like? I love all these videos of the European fans enjoying all of our food. Yeah. J, you know, just enjoying the just the ranch dressing deep fried Oreos. I mean, I think some of the fans went to a waffle house and they wouldn't leave. They're going to go back to they're going to go back to the country Sir, you're cholesterol and you are pre diabetic right now, sir. Well, you can help me out here. How much how much of a difference can a coach make in soccer versus other sports? Is it Is it that big a deal? Like I know in the Ryder Cup and golf, we always make a big deal out of that, but I don't know if it was the kind of case in soccer As a As a soccer coach of twenty seven years with a ninety six point five win percentage, Jim. I will say this I will say soccer could come down and you'll see this is could come down to one misplay and one goal, which determines the winner. And if you don't have your right squad out and your guys in the right spots, then you know what? then you lose. Because if you've watched enough soccer and this is where everybody complains N Nil One one, two to one. There's not many moments in a soccer match that leads to a goal. although we have seen the great one Messi at the age of thirty eight putting on a show so far at the World Cup and he's been impressive If the Poto was involved in Zakcer could he platoon Somehow, you know, the left footed guys, the right footed guys. Yeah, that's a great idea He could piggy backack you could piggy backack a couple of your bars. Well, that's can you p That's called subing. I think you would sub in something I've got something special for you too. that you guys don't even know it's that that we have this planned. Now we can do the barge now or we want to do the barge after That's your call. You're running the show Let's do the barge now Let's do the barge now because it's gonna to be weird if we do it afterwards. All right, do Jim, do you have any people you want to put on the barge? Yeah, I want to put you on the barge. I'm not going to put me P me on the barge. You already told me that you can't be put on the barge and I'm trying to understand why that is. I don't know anybody anybody that's breathing is eligible for the barge. You're correct. So you're putting me on the barge. Yeah. you know, Egan, have you heard about this this big thing this week? Oh, that's Super fan Chris Pratt, you know, I love all of his movies. I can't name a single one, but I love the guys from Lake Stevens We're supposed to like worship people who've been successful coming out of the Seattle Tacoma Everett area. and yet ply trashing on this guy for getting a Super Bowl ring And the twels hate him now and I agree with the twelveves because I love the The twels don't like them now. No. they don't like They don't. They don't like people They don't like why can't a fan why can't a super fan just go out and get a replica suuperp ring? I it's not a replica. Stop saying Egan. rememember when we talked about the they made seventy six You could buy the the sixteen you get your name you get your name on there. Chris Prat, the actor bought one I saw that on Twitter. So I'm putting him on the barge. He calls this guy a douche bag. He is a douche bag. He's anybody that's with them. anybody that's on him that agrees with this is a douche bag too. Hey twelve, I'm on your side Well, anybody that calls themselves the twelves also. Hey Jim, I'm with you at the twelves, too. Yeah Freickakingz!! Yeahs Why you treress those twelve. Here's the thing. if you never Mistakenly peed in the the little round handwashing thing at the Kingdome On accident, you're not a Rk fan. And you go on the What about the I did I did. Okay, If you don't know where the secret bar was at the Kingdomome put them on the bar on the bar I know, but what if you're new to town and you want to be a fan of the Seahawks is you say new town, New to town? O the barge bar Okay. All right, so you put me on the bar. So me and Pratt are on the barge together ye you're merge. Yeah Prat's on there so you're there. Prat's on there the Prat's running. He's try trying to buy the thing. All right. Well whatever. I just don't think you should be buying a Super Bowl ring when you didn't play, but that's just me. Well you got the you got the money, you know what Okay. so Okay, And these these these puttses that keep texting me and tweeting me And emailing me. I see you wear a hat every day to one of these sports teams. Isn't that the same thing Yes, that's the same thing. That's the same thing of me wearing the head of my cavorite team. You certainly sound like that fuck. Yeah I'm pretty sure. It's the same thing of me wearing a reineer's hat or a seahaw hat as as supporting a team as a guy who didn't play in the game on the team buying a Super Bowl ring? Yeahet to say exactly the same thing. Hey Chris, can I ask you a good question? L King TV, you're proud of King TV, right? I mean you imag. I mean, like would I would assume that people who listen to puck sports A lot of them are Sahawk fans and a lot of them are twelveves.. And don think don't you think you're kind of alienating what audience you have by having business any take that he's got? Like would you ever come out and say, God, you guys should just watch Como. What the hell, you know He's to socks you know our J Jim' not the number one podcast for a reason. Buck knows, he's smart. you knows, you know, here's the dirty secret Jim is hegan agrees with me But he can't say it. No He doesn't agree with you. I'm gonna to put my person my group on the barge I No, Well, no ye, I should have been able to drink more and I did' it. Ninth grade ninth grade graduation went to our ninth grade graduation and A couple people in front of us were as high as it h Oh d. I don't know what's wrong with that. I mean You know, I'm just trying to enjoy the graduation. They're just fidgeting the whole parents? C couple of parents, yeah. Yeah cou couple of edibles for the mom and daddy. Yeah. They just kid about halfway through the graduation ceremony. Bocking my. I feel my face. So I just I think you gotta be able to hold off at least for the graduation ceremony. Fair, fair, fair Just I mean, come on there. What graduation was it ninth grade? Ninth grade graduation, ye. That's all. Why do Why do we graduate from ninth grade? In Puel Gym, we still have junior high. I think we're the only That's fine. That's fine. Jim Moore Now, we never refer to him at home, do we as the go to guy. Does anyone ever say that to him? never N absolutely not. All right, Brooke, I'm going to start first with you. I want everyone to kind of go around the horn. We'll start with you. You're the oldest And so you get the first shot at this. Growing up, you guys all played sports, you know, when you guys were kids all the way into high school Multiple sports. What was the for you, Brooke, what was the connection to sports and your dad growing up Okay, I should start with. he probably would mention that I'm the least athletic But not my fault. Okay. It's not my fault. I did my best. I was a track star, so at least I got that. Our connection probably was, he got me into running cross country. I was pretty bad at everything else And he was kind of the one that pushed me into running cross country and he was at every single one of my meets and always there cheering me on And ended up being pretty good, and I think it was because he He like gently pushed us, I think you guys would probably agree. like he was never very like aggressive as a sports dad, but he gently pushed us. He was a broke, He was a runner himself, was he not Yeah, I would loosely say that I think we could that would apply to many things I think with your dad. He did do one he ran one half marathon. I think when he turned like fifty. Do you guys remember Yeah, I think it was right around there. Yeah All right Mikey for you, answer that that same question. justust the connection as a kid growing up And your your connection with sports and your dad Yeah. I mean, he took us to unlimited events like right at the VMAac, we were always there He would always be the first one to want to play catch with us out in the neighborhood shoot hoops, VR rebound or whatever it was. So he really got the ball rolling with that He was kind of part time coach growing up with our mom. So that was an awesome experience, but I mean, he just I mean, ingrain the couougar culture into us from day one, Mariners all the time. So a sporting event's always on at our house, but He was all he was always a great dad, a sports dad Stavady for you. Yeah, it's just, I mean, it's echoing all the same things that have already been said, but Um, ye, even Little League, he'd rush rush out of Seattle when he was working at seven hundred ten to get to our games and U, we'd always be out in the driveway playing horse and he was always just kind of giving us crap like being competitive. It's like I could never really play play basketball but nineteen seventy eight Redmond High S schoolool and he's like point in all these spots on the ct like get out of your dad kind of thing. But U Yeahah, throwing Wiffle balls to us, the coaching was kind of a a fun deal for him. so Yeah, he never really liked overboarded us with wanting us to be the greatest athletes ever, which I think kind of inspired us to want to branch out and play multitude of sports. so Um I think he was just always our biggest supporter Same with our mom too, but yeah, he was always there for us, no matter what, taking us wherever, no matter where the game was, he'd be more than willing to drive us there I want to stick with you, Steven and the Mike, I want you to follow up with the same question and the brook you can answered as well You guys all mentioned that you went to everything He would always'd be a rebounder. He'd' throw you wiffle balls you go play catch with you Look I don't in the moment did you realize maybe how important that was Or does it now impact you as you look back on it Maybe I think just more so as a kid, you kind of just inherently take those things for granted for a lack of a better way to put it Um But looking back on it, I was actually just chatting with a family friend the other day just saying, the amount of notot only like financial investment to put us in with like travel ball and Um basketball and baseball, so it wasn't just baseball, but Um, those things like as you grow older you grow greater appreciation for Um, And at the time it was like, Yeah, we're kids we're We're into sports, We like to just shoot hoops, whatever, swing a baseball, bat and Any sort of ball in hand we wanted to throw, whatever it was So now it's like I'm super grateful for for him and my mom to support us. that way and also I think they also got an enjoyment out of it as well, just watching us compete. and succeed and they're as happy when we succeeded as we were individually. So Spikey Yeah. I mean, the financial part of it, you don't think of when you're twelve years old going to Yakima and staying three nights over there for a tournament. So I mean, it's it was such a big thing. When we were getting ready to play junior college, I was kind of on the fence of do I want to keep playing or not? But I thought in the back of my head, like my parents invested so much time and My dad was always like, keep playing, keep playing as long as you can and I don't regret a second ofvent because I'm glad that I could kind of return the favor in a way by given extra explain mored playing extra baseball for them. And I mean, he was always there from day one and that that love never, never died out And for you Broke, I'd like to see him there. when you're competing at these events to see him rush home for work or to drive you there to tried to make as many of these events as possible. when you look back on it, you being a mother yourself now, a new mom What comes to mind when you think back to all those days that he was there for you at all your sporting events? I think for me, I don't I didn't realize at the time because I think when my brothers were younger, he was on the radio and with me he was doing The times era no PI Yeah Yeah well he's been all over the place. Yeah. not I said that. And I think it was a little harder for him to come to myself too because when I ran cross country, it was that like races were at like two hundred thirty, three hundred thirty. and I remember Specifically, I used to sprint at the beginning of my races and then I would stop and walk and he would always And I was decent enough and he would always come and be like You gota keep going, You're doing great and like never pushed me to do it. And I think being a parent now I didn't realize how gentle that was. And there was another dad on the team who would like scream at his daughter and be like, let's go. come on. And he would be like, areren't you glad I'm not like that, dad And I'm pretty grateful that he pushed me to do cross countountry because I don't think I ever would have done it because it wasn't something I was interested in And if he hadn't have given that kind of like tiny nudge. I don't think I ever would have done it. And since then I I didn't like do it in college like my brothers, but I've ran several marathons and half marathons and he's been at every single one of those. I mean, even I ran the Disney found about eight years ago and he flew to Florida with me and did that But like four AM just to watch me run, it was really cool. Oh. That's really cool. All right, Mikey get the first crack at this one There's gott to be whether it's sports or non sports. It doesn't have to be necessarary sports moment. a funny Dad moment involving you involving all the kids or what have you. somethingomet's got to come to mind Yeah. and embarrass We want to em this whole goal of this right now is to embarrass them as much as we can. Top of mind, Hole four Pice Ridge one hundred and sixty five yard par three. There's a clear stay on the car path sign car path only So my brother and I get it on the green So we're playing with My brother's girlfriend's dad as well, who's driving in the car with my dad And so we're waiting on the green like where where the F are these guys? They're takaking forever down off the off the ledge of this green and His girlfriend's dad walks up looking disheveled, all dirty and ats all over the place. and Go down there and the carts turned halfway over. The clubs are everywhere Golf balls are flying U you name it, Galies, phones, whatever. And my dad said, yeah I flipped the car. And a good impression. I like that. Felt so bad The rest of the round, it kind of killed his vibe, but I mean, now a funny story to look back on So he wasn't even like drinking, I don't.. That's what's crazy about it is he literally just like was like m He didn't even wasn't even drinking. Oh I remember how how bad he felt for your your girlfriend's dad. he was He was just he was just nervous He was just nervous about some sort of injury that that' arise within the next couple of days or something. So he was texting him checking in, making sure that his neck wasn't bing him or anything. but we had expected It's a pretty steep Steep drop off on the left hand side of the hole And he just motored the cart right on down and took one wrong turn and the whole thing just almost three hundred and sixty but Yeah, we thought we were going to maybe you're like, hey, could you help us find a ball or something? They're both on the l. I but we go down there. that was not the case. Oh God I love it. Now now Brok, you have a unique you have a different perspective than them, right? because the girl, right? If there's there's always this dynamic. I've got a daughter between your the dad and daughter. So You can open up a hole likeike list of things to probably to embarrass your dad. But what stands out to you looking back I'm trying to think there was another one that came to my mind. The first one I thought about was just him trying to get up out of any chair pretty much. An O Bahama, anything low He always says to me, I just need to stretch. I just need to stretch a little bit and like. You're almost seventy years old or past with stretching. The other one I was thinking of Apple Cup about two years ago, I planned my daughter's second birthday on Apple Cup, which Listen It was supposed to be in November forever. That's not my fault My daughters' born in September. He he said it was all right He said, we could just watch applic we can watch the game He literally sat and watched Appleup did not help anyone s set up Do not talk to anybody And then after we won and he recorded himself in my driveway and he was like Yeah, I'm at My granddaughter's like second birthday or something but go cs a c one. And I'm getting like texts like what is your dad doing on Twitter right now? Like my friends are at the party like What is happening with your dad right now And I was like, listen, he's had how many years, fifty years of losing, just let him have. I was embarrassed, maybe more than he was because he was like screaming down my street. sounds about right for your pups. No one lo No one loves that university more than your father. Id like and it's a losing school too. so it's like they bro be a little be gentle okay. Listen, you know, I'm an alumni too, right? Like all three of us are You know he loves it though. It doesn't does not matter. All right, Stevie for you. Yeah, No one that I was thinking of was when we were playing high school baseball at Iqua our senior year. I can't remember if the it was New Porter Skyline one of the two and He would always videotape our at bat so that we could kind of look back and watch and see if we missed a pitch or whatever and he's always got that continuous commentary throughout the whole at bat. So it was it was a seven or an eight pitch at bat. So I'll go back and watch it every once in a while and he's like G, it's o, Cevie, go Coogs, you got it. goo Coogs, like this mad, this m Um So yeah, it's a three two count. And the pitch is way up and in, but I kind of get my hands up to it Um Ball goes over the fence, home run in the first inning and he's elated. he's o Fie Cugs, baby. Yeah, F and A rightits. Let's go. CeB's just laughing at himself like he's just so excited and I come home and My brother and I we like jump up and like shoulder bump each other and we're all excited all rowdy. Every time I go back, I just get a kick out of it because he enjoyed Like I said earlier, our success is just as much as we did. So Um suuper cool and supportive, but also hilarious. just he always has to throw in a go kgs to it. multiple go koos. So we always get a kick out of that. I mean, look at us now too. we're all kgs. All three all three of you. Yeah. Yeah. He did a good job. raised he raised you all right. All right Brooke, we'll go with you first on this one. What just looking back, you guys kind of addressed it in the beginning, but What did you learn? from your dad just about sports and maybe about life He's ride or die for us No matter what He supports us through absolutely everything. I think he I could be like garbage man, no shame to garbage man, but he would be stoked for me. Like he's so supportive of anything that we do. always like he's always the most When I was teaching every year, he would come and He would bring me flowers every day on the first day of school. He's just very He's loyal and he's genuine and I feel like we've picked those traits up because of him. And also like our relationship, the three of us, I'm thirteen years older than them. And I feel like because of him and their mom, of course, too, but I gotta give her a shout out to Tina. and They've just really given us that relationship and I feel really grateful for that and I feel grateful that he's kind of taught us to be like genuine and kind always. And I think that that's probably an important lesson that he's taught us. He Stevie, the same question for you Um yeah, I think the biggest thing, I mean, especially just firsthand experiencing whatever turmoil he's gone through sports media wise or outside of it. I think the coolest thing and the most admirable thing about our dad is just he's always genuinely himself He doesn't care when anybody thinks about him or what he has to say and He's always grateful too. I mean, he could get some of the meanest comments on a tweet or on an article or something. he's like, He hey, thanks for listening. It's like' that's pretty rare. I don't see many sports personalities That would kind of take it with a grain of salt, but Um yeah, just just like my sister said, just being genuine being ourselves. Um Al kind of just just taking ab broad broad look at things and just kind of Um roolling with your gut and not necessarily just Um being yourself, but also just kind of like being there for others in a scenario where U you can kind of be that support system too is another lesson that always st forward with me that my dad kind of rubbed that off Mikey He's one of the most patient guys I've ever met. I am super impatient at times. I'm sure Bro over there laughing But he always just takes a deep breath and has like the same calm cool collected demeanor He never gets too high or too low, too high with the kg sometimes, but that happens. But he also has such a big heart. like he you can feel his energy even when he's not saying anything, like he always tells all three of us, how much he's proud of us. He's proud of everything we're doing, even if it's a little accomplishment. like, Hey, I'm proud of you for going to the Jenedadam. like appreciate it dad or he's so excited when we have a good golf round. He wants to hear about all the shots we hit and things like that. He's just the most kindhearted man ever. so that's something I D defefinitely want to take with me going on in life. Okay, as we as we wrap this up, I just want to open up the floor to all three of you U Brok you let us off. I'm going to let you go last. Eevie, you started off then Mikey and then Brokie wrap it up. and you guys just Take as long as you want, short as you want. Just one final word. You're talking to your dad. What message on Father's Day would you like to send them? Ghead Yeah Dad, we love you U Happy Father's Day. Thank you so much for everything you've done for the three of us and We'll get you back on the backkend Um but yeah, go kgs, G Mariners U, excited to W some baseball with you tonight and spend Father's Day with you and happy that we're in Ben to do so yeah, thank you for everything and We love you unconditionally Dad and you're the go. I mean, couldn't ask for anyone better. You're you're the best dude ever like the other day throwing throwing the ball around with you while we're taking the dogs out. I mean, nothing better I know I'm your toughest critic now. I'm always giving you shit about whatever it is. What I mean You know, best friends do that and you truly are all three of our best friends. So Appreciate everything you've done for us, especially in my twenty two years of life. but love you so much, Dad Oo, I don't know howm to follow that up I'm gonna take a different spin on it. I'm so grateful for you as a dad, but I'm also grateful for you as a grandpa. I think seeing his relationship, your relationship with my children fect is so special and I'm so grateful for everything that you've given to me and the boys and my children and I promise that when we put you in the nursing home that you will have a window in your room, okay? Inside joke. Inside joke, but he knows There will be a window for sure, a little one All right, we got the perspective from Jim Moore's kids. Now we turn our attention to Chris Egan, the Prince of Puuala. W his three kids. We've got Matdie. We've got Austin, we've got Luke Egan Klan, welcome This is now the moment where everything that you want to say embarrassing and and just really give it to your dad. This is the moment here on the on the Father's Day special. So I appreciate it Matdie, I'm going to start first with you. You're the oldest And so you get the first crack at this one and then and then we'll just go down the line. Austin. you can follow up after Matie and then And then Luke, you can you can finish with after Austin. all right Your dad gring up. You guys are all into sports. You three of you I' You know, knowing your dad forever, watching all of your guys' sporting events. You guys have been into a lot of sports in just a ton. Your dad obviously has been in the business forever. He played sports at high school and college and all that Y guys' connection to sportsman, I would assume, right with your dad started very early age Yes, definitely being the oldest, I definitely started right away. We did everything. I think that's pretty much the biggest thing. L we played every sport. He's coached us since I was born So I was kind of the first on the coaching side that he got to coach. But yeah, we did it all. There's a video of like him asking me my favorite things and he's like just list all the sports. And so he just went like my favorite things were sports because that's what We did and it was a lot of fun. Yeah. Austin for you is that connection was right away that you can first remember. Yeah, and I was like his first boy, so he's probably a lot more harder on me than Addie, so. I bet he was. I bet he was Luke did you get like the were you treated probably the best because you're the third one. He's like God I' arready I was hard on Matty harder on Austin. I got to take it easy Luke. Yeah, they say I got the easy stick, but I think I got more harder end of it Yeah. do you guys ever recall now now those ride homes from a game or practice can be tough. How did your dad treat the ride home We had him and I would tennis had to make like a five minute rule that there were a couple really rough matches in the beginning. U where yeah, it we were we would go at it. So we had to make a five minute rule that we would spend five minutes apart and then we would come back together during tennis matches because Yeah, The beginning stages of going over to like tri cities to play outside and all of that. yeah, that was those were some rough drives in the beginning. Austin, how how did he handle it? you play tennis as well, but also baseball. How did that baseball conversation go? Well if I had like a bad week, I remember having a bad weekend and I think the T Cities. you didn't have like the five minutes the T Cities keeps coming up. Yeah. but he didn't he didn't talk to me the whole way No Luke, did you experience that Luke or was he like God, I have to make it up to Luke. So Luke Luke probably got the ice creream and everything right afterwards. No, I remember it was a Centralia tournament and I didn't really Didn't really do good. And I we went in the car. I was like, than you for a great weekend trying to lighten the mood and it wasn't think good that. I enjoy that you went for the comedy right away and your dad I tryed to suhe the mood, but it didn't work out Oh God, I love that. All right. what so we coached all of you. Luke I'll start first with you What sports has he coached you in Oh He's coached me in basketball U tennis Soccer a lot Baseball and football. boy he's got so he's everything. All right. G me give me the sports dad the coach that that he was. give me a scouting report on him U He definitely was hard. I would say he would try to be like harder on me to like make sure like the my teammates like I remember one one practice like A guy did the same thing I did before and he just yelled at me. And then the guy that did and he was like, oh my God, it still be me. And he just screamed at me and then he's like, yeah G would do some lines. I was like, oh man, yeah,. So he was definitely on the harder side for us, I would say. Austin he coac in most everything to rightite tennis and baseball and Yeah I don't know if you play basketball or not, but I played bas. Yeah. Okay But if I did anything bad, he'd just bench me so like Well, I'm getting a very different picture that you're from you guys than your dad pates. This is wonderful. This is actually the perfect exactly what I wanted from all of you. The and then Matdie for you, again, coach and everything and What was what was that experience like being coached by your dad? I know it. I mean, I coach my kids and it's it's a it's a hard one. There's a fine line with it Yeah, I I had another one of my best friends, her mom also coached us so they kind of like partner teams for like a lot of it. So that was nice because I think they would kind of balance each other out. Oh, you take my daughter, I'll take your daughter and we'll just balance that out for sure of being hard on each other. But I do think like it's deffinitely something that a small amount of people can do of coaching their kids. It's interesting like looking back like he definitely handled it What I would have think was really good because even all of our friends, like they're like, oh, this is so fun. We're having the best time. And there would be those games where I'd be like Having fun. What are you talking about? D you h cach But it was like countless hours. so it was a fun experience too. Probably Matdie for you and Austin, maybe you guys have a more of appreciation for this and Luke, you're kind of still in the K kind of sick of it, but Can you guys all three of you can maybe step back and just and look of like The amount of hours that your dad put in. To be there to coach, to volunteer for all of these different sports I would assume that Maybe you didn't realize it in the moment, but as you take a step back, do do you understand just like the how important that is to have them there? Matdie, you go start. It's for sure. I mean, I look back and I would not have been Not even just like the athlete, but the person, like those car rides and those conversations where we're like breaking down stuff and talking about people like Those were some really pivotal moments And he was just always he's always willing. Like even if I were to be like, oh, you wantan to go hit, he'd be like, yeep, let's he'll just drop it all and like make it happen, which was it's very impressive, especially with how much he does work and how many other commitments he have he has like it's always will always be like the number one priority that sense of like. Oh, hey Dark, can we go like hit a bucket of serves? He would be like, yep, let's go. like We'll just go right now. We did do a lot in the raine So weking rain was sometimes difficult, but like he would he was a trooper for that. like I would be like, I'm not done. He wouldd be like, o, okay. So I think once I got to that high school point, he was like, oh, she's a little more intense than I am U So it's it was a fun time for sure. Hey Austin one of the coolest videos I saw I was a few years ago. I can't remember if it was If it was Griffer Ichiro's Hall of Fame You guys went back to Cooperstown I think it was just you and your dad. and you were out there just playing cench. Yeah Like just it's like the simplest father and son thing in the world to do is just to play catch And in those moments, what are those moments like and throughout your baseball career with your dad Yeah, it's really special because to bond over a sport because like we were never going to bond over like homewk or anything So just being able to play catch growing up and like even now like If I need a throwing partner for a day or something, he'll play catch even though he gets he gets kind of scared now playingt catch. but I would Baring over that. Yeah. Luke for you, I mean, you're in high school. so you're in it right now, but you likeike looking where you you're at athletically and all that and all the work that you've put in do you you have an appreciation for How much your dad was there for you? Oh yes, for sure. I mean, I think he's a part of all our success is like he's just pushed us so hard that like Now we kind of get it and like we're so thankful like Even in the moment, I think that we're like, what what is he doing in this war? like point But like he saw he saw the vision. so is working out Yeah. I do like where you guys are doing this today because this is where your dad always does it and I think he does it so everyone can see the Emmies in the background. but Austin's kind of Austin's blocking the Emmies. So maybe he did that on purpose. But you ever get sick of him talking about how many Emmies he's won Yeah, he p for what He's I mean, he's up to like twenty, twenty five now. It's unbelievable.. Not that much. Yeah You've got to have a funny funny dad moment. every kid's got a funny dad moment, whether it's sports, nons sports, it does not matter. Who wants to go first to share their funny dad moment You got it. I think Just showing off his like competedness. likeike I was playing pigball with him like a couple years ago and I was beating him pretty good It's probably like nine one And I called a ball that was like out that was pretty close out. And he got really mad, drew his paddle over the fence and stormed off and they'd talked to me for a day. That sounds about right? Yeah Yeah Lu Yeah, I'll go. I remember it was practice and it was the week before the middle school state tournament. And we weren't really having a good practice. It was al right. And he got and then he brings out his famous old five pass roll. like no shot t five passes And then we're on like the third pass. I get it in the corner wide open and I don't shoot it because it's only three passes, right? I pass it and he blows his whistle like four times like loud Jym. And the janitor comes in and she's like, is everything okay? And he's like, yeah Everything's okay. and then he's like, shut the door. And then he's like, you don't want it like us and you you're not going to do anything in Sokehan if you don't want to shoot the open shots. And then I remember we're getting in the car. He's like, why don't you shoot that? I go that of his three passes, he goes, Oh And then it was just side with the rest of the far life. It's five pass Hzers rule. I love it. All right, Maddie, what about you? Mine is a little bit different from the sports side, but I think like most kids are like, oh, their dog can do embarrassing things. There's just no like there's no embarrassing Chris. Like there's no embarrassing a Chris Egan. Like he and I think that's why like we've grown up to like not be embarrassed of like little things like our friends will be like, o, did you see what he posted? I'm like Yeah, I filmed it. Like I don't think a lot of kids have to because like, hey, Matdie, like come to the backyard, let's make a video. and like I'm doing the filming. It's usually be like the other way around or the fact like H would used to like sing to Wake us up in the mornings? L he comes up with a random song and then he'll say like his iconic phrase of like, I could have been a country singer. L I could have wrote country songs. Like they're so easy. So I don't know. I don't know if he sang a country his own made up country song on the podcast yet, but yes That's a phrase I've heard a couple times. Who filmed him in the hot tub with the ferry boat? That was me. R It was great. Yeahah. and he followed me down. I was I think I was on two K playing It was my day off and he goes Yeah. I have this furry boat full of Doritos. I'm like, what are you doing? And he goes, Yeah, I'm like, whyy do you have your swims shorts on? He goes, Yeah, we're going to the hot zone. He go, Wh are you But it went perfectly right to him it was J perfectly put it on. Your dad is your dad is a one of a kind. All right. What do you for all three of you, Luke, you can you can start us off in then N, you can follow up and then Matdie. Yeah justust whether it's in sports or life in general. What have you what have you what's one of one or two big takeaways from kind of what you've learned from your dad? For me, I think the word resilience pops up. like this whenever like times are hard, times are bad, like you just have to like show resilience and like Be someone that you can be and try to overcome because I mean, we're gonna to have a lot of challenges. We have a lot of challenges with like sports and stuff with everything. And I think he's really taught us to go and push through that and not quit on the spot and just like J push through, I would say. I think competitiveness, like he hates to lose. So just seeing that growing up and just hating to lose more than I like to win. So just like hating to lose throwing your racket over throwing your pball racket over the fence Matdie. Mine's more on the life side. I think he's done an amazing job of just showing us to like be kind to everyone. like you have no idea who's going to impact your life and He spreads his joy and kindness over every person, no matter it's on TV or in the grocery store or just even at home. like he's just overall like a kind human. And so I think that's been a really important thing that I've learned like that he's shown us of like, you have no idea if this person you meet in a grocery store is gonna impact your life in five, ten years. L make an impact on the person in a kind way. Like there's no harm in being positive That's great point. All right, let's finish with this. All three of you get one final word You can wish your dad a happy Father's Day. Matdie would go with you then Austin and then and then you bring it up Luke there at the end goo ahead Matdie. Happy Father, say Dad. You are one of a kind and I am honored and proud to be your daughter. Love you Happy Father is D Dad. Thank you for all you do. Happy Father is D Dad. Thank you for everything. loveove you so much. You know, I think we learned a lot about Chris Egan in that. I mean like a Gene Hackman Bobby Knight type of coach. But I want to hear you sing though Well, I feel like I do need to write a country song. It should have hugged the kids a little bit more. I did we had great memories of. I they That was fun. That was. Chris, how far did you h huuck your racket that night? You know what? I threw it into the woods. I think it traveled a good fifty five yards, you know, Those potball battles will move pretty good. Yeah. Well, it's it's when they beat you for the first time, it's not. You don't like to lose and I'm not, you know, I made a commitment early on like if they're going to beat me, they're going to beat me. I'm not going to ever, you know, let anybody beat me. Yeah. And they did. they all of them in their own way have beat me you know, in basketball or in pickemall and tennis and I give them a lot of credit for that But I'm like, I do remember the loop Shooty I do remember that fractice by the way But I would to say this, I don't know if I got edited out fuck. We have a lot of good moments out there. I don't know if it does sound like. Oh I just love a whole car to the car ride. God that car ride, man, you got to balance that car rightide out. Oh my good And and my daughter love to sing country songs on the way this match just but buucket you how about Jim's you a window when Jim's going to get a window in the old age home Oh I love Yeah you know that goes back to someone I knew that had a sweeping view of Mount Rainier to the right Blake Island right in front and then Seattle over in Manchester there in the Port Orchard area. And I remember that this woman put her mom into a rest home that didn't have a window. And so that's where that came from. I just said to my kids, I go, lookook, when when you put me in the rest home, all dad wants is a window, okay? And so that's where Brooke came right now. And I've gott to tell you, I think Ean will echo this thought too. I mean, thank you for doing that. That was really super special, man. And what a surprise. I mean really, what a nice surprise that was. Good. You guys You guys are great fathers. I have learned my relationship with you guys here over that gone lasted a long time I have learned a lot from both of you just being a dad. and because you guys have gone through it before I've gone through it and just all of it and being a being just a dad and a sports dad and all of it and you guys are and I mean this. You guys are you're two of the just greatest people in the world, but just dads and now all your kids you know, of have have turned out. I mean, I've told the story before. I mean, I see Mikey and Stevie. I don't see Brooke as much as I see Mikey and Stevie Mikey and Stevie and Brooke all of them. They're just, I mean cut all from the same cloth. They're just the nicest people in the world, huge personalities, lots of fun And so respectful. they get along with my kids so well and they just they they love them to death and then I tell that story. I think we told it on the show months ago when I'm at the basketball championship and justust coming I hear my name and coming running down the stands and I've met Matdty, I mean a handful of times. and there's Mattty Egan just coming to say hello to talk and I'm like Okay, but it's just but she just so she learned that from you from you and and from your wife as well, but Yeah, it's Fur' Dday. We get all the credit Yeah Pock, I just got to say thank you, buddy. I mean, it really was it is a pleasant surprise and I think I've been doing doing my job on TV, doing something through college since nineteen ninety one and I think I've cried like four times on the air and I think three of them have been on your show. So you always bring out the best and I appreciate our friendship and that that was pretty special. I mean, to get all three of them together and you got you got Austin to talk more than anybody's I mean He actually had some pretty good lines, I thought. So' met with Austin right now, boy. he's the big kid around I'll be honest like Yeah I don't like to play catch with them anymore because the ball is coming in too fast and it's moving and Im afraid's going to hit me in the face. So you know, but You're right. J playing catch, you know, rebounding for Luke and ye. Hitting the tennis ball with Matdie, those were some of my greatest memories of all time. And you know, my apologies kids who Daddy was little tough at times, but it was good. No but it just meant how much you loved him. You were trying to get the best of them. Richard Ch? Yeah. Well, and Jim, I'll be honest with you the time. I think Luke mentioned it, you know, I take a lot from what we do in our job And we're, you know, Jim and Puck, you know, we've been around some great ones over the years from Homegrin to Pete Carroll to Mike McDonald to Brian Smenzer. I mean, you can ask all these coach. I've had Brian Smenzer draw out plays for my soccer team before and Homegrren is the one that told me the story You know, he would never yell at Matt Hasselbeack. He would yell at somebody else to try to get a point across hasslebe back and my toughest thing was I coach with some dads that were always kind of maybe too kind to their kids and you, you know, you you need to the other kids on the team need to show that your kid is not getting special treatment out there. If you are going to be a parent coach. I think it's a very tough thing to do. hard you know, because in the end you're always looking out for the best for your kids, but My number one priority was to look out for the best for my team, our team. and it's not easy sometimes when you're coaching your kid Yeah. Well, I'll tell you, Chris, I tell Puck this all the time and I'll tell you too and you guys still have kids that are playing sports. I miss that like crazy. I really do Those were kind of getting emotional but Those were some of the best times. just I miss it I do. So just enjoy the heck on but why you can because I Yeah, know, I still drive by baseball fields and I look at them and they're empty and I'm just kind of going, damn, I wish I could do that again. So I love your boys talking about the videos because I still remember watching the video when you're at the Pal Rereck Center and one of them hit a home run and you're dropping F bombs and I'm just I think I watch I think I watched that thing ten times it was just so much it was just so real. It was nothing fake about it. and that's why people love you, Jim is you're just real And that was real. And that's what you did all the time with your boys Well, that was at Bannerwood Park, I think during the Kinko conference playoffs and I got booted out of the little press area there after I Yeah Yeah, rightightfully so. No, but I think you guys you guys can you feel the same way and it's not like I mean, there's no handbook on being a dad and what you're supposed to do and all that I always just wanted to spend as much time as I could with my kids, period. That was pretty much it. And I can sense that you guys are the same way. And all at all wrap my thoughts puck on this to everybody, you know, that's watching this is that U If your dad's still out there, man, just, you know what? maybe maybe someomewhere along the way, mayaybe you've had some tough times, but you got to bury it. You got to bury it and you got to you got to call them. You guys got to rebond. You got to get together because times are short and maybe maybe you got the greatest dad in the world. so make sure you go celebrate with your dad.
