He's like most Mariner fans, they're sick of seeing what they're seeing. So Check it out with, you know, I was thinking if Dan Wilson wanted a roof done by Bates roofing. I'm not so sure that Brad Thorsenson would give him a good roof or not like he does everybody else. He might, you know install one with leaks. I mean he's that upset with Dan Wilson I don't blame him. We'll get into that later, but Bates Roofing LLCot comot two five three two four two five seven eight three. I need your help today. You know me. I have been positive holy Hh? How can I help you I don't know. I need I need you to walk me back. I'm just cracking that that the positivity, everything's going to be fine. It's cracking. It's just there's a slight little crack. I'm hoping my my trip to Spain will solve that all When I leave, I'll come back. They'll be five games over five hundred and in first place and no looking back or it's going to be an utter disaster. And as I told Kruger earlier today, which we always record in the mornings and we'll play it later If they go on a big winning streak when I'm there in Spain, I'll sacrifice for you in the audience I'll stay G up Not really a personal sacrifice though, because I've been to Spain and it's such a fantastic place. Why would you want to come back? Once you get there, you'll see why I'll stay for you. For the audience, if they go on a winning streak, I'll promise never to come back and just stay there. Okay All right, do you think you're going to try and watch some games? Because it's the middle of the night when they start. The only shot you have is a day game, which will be nine PM over there No I'm not no not gonna stay up in the middle of the night to watch a game. I'll watch the highlights the next day No. going four in the morning got to get up right now. Wh Why are you getting up at four in the morning to watch the Mariners or well because, you know, just die hard. Now I'll just watch the highlights. But but I'm cracking a little bit and I need you because everybody knows that you are full of positive vibes. I'm just cracking a little bit it and I'm probably like a lot of fans who have been kind of on my train. Hey, everything's going to be okay. They're going to get healthy The second half of the season, they're the best team in the division. They'll be fine. Well, you can keep saying that and saying that and saying that and at some point they've got to do it or they've got what twelve games remaining until the all star break. You know, they have just, I mean, they're a game under of five hundred now And they're out of first place. I thought when they went into first place a few weeks ago, they'll never give it back. Look at the schedule in front of them. Well, in that time, that schedule that we all at least I raved about, how they're gonna stretch their legs, they went nine and thirteen againgainst both baseball teams You want some help? I'm cracking. Just cracking a little bit. Not fully crackacking. You wantna lay down on the couch and step into my therapist's office? Yes, go ahead Okay. They're in the worst division in baseball And even though they're not playing well, what are they? a half game back. They're still going to win the division. They're not that good, but they're still going to win the division. They also play in the league that is the most vulnerable and anybody can win that thing And so why not the Mariners this year? You can look at it that way because the league just who's good in the American League? If you look at anybody thinking, o God, they're better than Mariners, no way they're going to get past them. You could say that about the Dodgers if you wanted or in the n. I think they I I'll push back the Yankees in the rays. lookook at their record. Look at their team. They They're more of a complete team. Those two teams are playing better than the Mariners Clearly Okay in a seven game series, do you take your chance? do you feel like it's fifty fifty with the Mariners at least against those two teams You know, you don't go into that thinking Oh It's threety seventy. They got to have kind of a pipe drreink. I don't Yeah, I don't think that with anyone. I mean, but I think I'm I'm basing that on what I think the potential of this baseball team is and just right now, they've They've let everyone down their potential. They they have top to bottom. they and that's the front office, the manager, all the coaches and all the players. It's been a so far, it's been a They've they've underperformed massively No, they have. and they admit that. they know what's going on, but it's It's system wide though, isn't it? It's not just the pitching and then you've got the piggyback thing, you've got the six man rotation, all these different things that you question and then the hitting sccoring three runs or fewer in thirteen straight games and breaking out of that and wouldn't you know it because it's the Mariners that they would get five runs yesterday and not win. So yeah, talk I've just wondered all year long. I know people are going, well, they're going come out of it. And then there's all these stats all the time like, well, that was a record last year and look what they did last year. You can't just assume that's going to happen. And I yeah, you're right. I'm a pessimist at heart. I don't know why I am, but What makes us think that they're suddenly going to be just gangbusters? Was it that eight game winning streak in early June But then look what they've done since then. since they lost that game against the Mets, the last game of that hest, they just haven't been very good. I guess I'll just answer it for myself as a Aarinerss fan. I would just say that I look at the The entire roster and go it's it's just a good roster. It's a good team It should be a better team than what they're at forty two in forty three. And I think the the optimism was based on what they did a year ago to be that close to where they were. you just thought that they would jump off that were that starting point where they were a year ago and then they would be in a position where they would put the division out of reach almost. by now. but I don't think anyone could have foreseen the struggles of Cow with the whole WBC mess I there is a lot that has gone on this year. It's the his injury The whole WC mess with him in a rose arerena and that whole They that How big of an impact that had on the beginning of the year with everyone? I don't know, but It's got to be something. It's got to be a percentage of something that had an impact. And they just and then they've been dealing with injuries the whole time. There's just a guy will come back then another guy goes down. Somebody else comes back and then they go down. you know, Donovan and Crawford and Cal and Rando Rosernnaas hot. He goes down. Now Can one is banged up He clearly is not healthy. They have just not been have Ray. they have just not been together. Josh Naylor's got thirteen thousand things going on. That gives me, that's why I'm optimistic. But again, they may never ever be healthy ever, but they have They have severely underperformed. And it gets into what you wrote about today. I think what a lot of people are going to talk about. It's why it's on the rundown is Damn the manan I don't think They're going to fire him I just I would put everything that I have on which is not a lot, that they're not going to do it. I'd be if I when I come back in a you put everything on it? Yeah. I just don't look how long it took them, lookook how long their rode was Scnt serervice How much how much more how much more leash do you think ownership gives a guy that is is a mariners' player legend Legend Well, and then we've talked about it in other sports, other coaches. I mean, do they do they just get crummy overnight I mean, this is a guy that took over and u You know, he did fairly well the last thirty four games of the season when he took over and then last year let him did the seventh game of the ALCS Is he suddenly just some stupid ass who's guiding this team? I have a hard time and I know that we can get into yesterday and hindsight and you know, he should have done this and he should shouldn't have done that. and all those different things and it's really easy in hindsight, but I got to admit yesterday puck when I was watching that eighth inning and Michael Rucker came in It was foresight for me. I was just like going, o, really? They got to go with him. And I haven't been following it day to day just, you know dialed in and everything and I just assumed there must be like for rare was unavailable U but You know, they had DeVila. they could have gone with him. He probably would have been a better option, notot that great of an option, but a better one than Michael Rucker. And then coming in with Simpson, I'm just going, Hey, man, if you if you're Dan Wilson, You got to go Oh the guy's unavailable. That's what we're told. He's unavailable. Well, he can't pitch because he pitch here Saturday. You know what I'd say hell But why is he unavailable? That's what I don't understand. Like we just hear he's unavailable. Why? And I get it He's pitched a lot He would have pitched on three straight days Okay in the two other previous games, he threw like eighteen pitches total. And by the way, before someone says, well, he never does it. He did it earlier this year He pitched three straight days against Atlanta. And you know what he did in that Atlanta series? He went three to third innings and he gave up one hit So don't tell me he can't pitch three days in a row. And I understand that you don't want to do it. You don't want to burn him out and he's pitched a lot of games. I get it You're trying to win the game Win the game And you cannot tell me that some guy they just got from Tacoma that no one's ever heard of is a better option than Jose Ferrera, a guy that you went out and acquired than this Simpson guy. And I get, you're pushing it down the road because if you use them on Sunday, then you can't use But look who you've got coming up. You've got the Angels. You got to hope that Ohh my God, we got a series with the angels. I don't think we're going be in some hut contested games against the Angels if you are fine, but you got to win the game And the symbolism of get Wednesday off. you got a Wednesday off coming out. And the yeah, and the symbolism of Sunday is you'll win the series and you're coming home with the win off a mediocre bad road trip, But at least you have the good taste in your mouth that you' won on Sunday, you're coming home and you're still in first place And I know's not a must win, but my God, they treat And we said this last week. This is why they screw up the baseball guns. They treat these games like B games in Peoria at times. This They do. Well you would have had a three and three road trip. Yeah, you would have come home with a little momentum, happier plane ride, all that. And Gary Hill mentioned it. I love Gary Hill for and he does a great job. By the way, Shnon Dreayer yesterday on the broadcast, You mentioned her last week when she waslling in. She's great She's doing a great job. She's fantastic. They shouldolutely great job. She a permanent thing with Gary and Shannon on the call on radio. She's really, really good at it agreed. But Gary yesterday, he was talking about You don't know what's going to happen at the end of the season. And you know, you want to have a better record in games against I wanted to call them the Indians against the Guardians Because you might face them in the playoffs and you know, you want the home field the seing, all that stuff that might come down to a tie brereaker, you know. It's And then you might sit there in September go going Oh Godd, yeah. Yeah, Cleveland's ahead of us because they won the tiebreaker because remember that game when Michael Rucker and Josh Simpson came in? Had you even heard of these guys In or before when the season started? Well, no, what we talked about Rucker Simpson, no, but we talked about Rucker a few weeks ago Vegan He's an auburn Rriverside kid. Oh, well, okay Yeah you're old' you're sixty nine and you can't remember. Yeah I can't remember. I can't remember anything. Yeah I just think you go to I think Sunday The thing with Dan Wilson is this and I've spent, I mean, we've talked about it a lot. I've spent a lot of time, I guess, in a way defending him You know, I think manager is I think they get a I think they get too much credit when things when they're winning, and I think they get too much blame when they're losing You know, I think it really does come down to who's putting together the team. I think we all agree that the GM or the president' more important than anything at least has more credit for what the teams success is. But there are moments when you get into like what happened on Sunday or you go back to game seven against Toronto where you've got to be good at that in game stuff. The game moves fast fast and you've got to make split second. I mean decisions. You got to look ahead. He's got to understand that if I use Bizardo here in the sixth inning, he's done. Like I don't have what is my option in the eighth? I'm really going to turn to two guys that have no business being in high leverage situations He's got to be thinking about that stuff. And then you go back, you know to last year You know, in the game seven against of the bllue just same deal How can I make this a better and easier way for us to have our high leverage guys at the end of the game And what I don't understand about these guys and whoever's decision it is, Is it Dan Wilson? Is it a collective issue? Whever, but they all get to go place on the barge. Is it too early? We're going to get on the barge later. Is it too early for the barge I have someone I want to put on the barge later. and since we're not going to be here for a couple of Fridays, I think we should do a barge is They all they do this organization is praise their starting rotation. That's all they they're hang their hat on, right? The starting rotation Yet they can't. I've never seen an organization I can't wait to get their starter out faster than this one I mean, they sit there Wilson and old Woody with his you know, all his arms all sleep, you know, tatted up and all these guys and they I swear are looking on their phones like looking at game changer if they're a mom and dad sitting behind a whole plate going Well, we got to get them out now so we can use them tomorrow I mean, they they they can't wait the game starts and I look at Pete Woodworth and Dan Wilson and these guys and go, they're just counting down to when they can take this guy out Why can't Emerson Hancock finish the inning? It's the bottom of the order. They hit at the bottom of the order because they're not good hitters And you can't trust Emerson Hancock to get one of these bums out at the bottom This Daniels Seenaman guy hitting two fourteen. You know what he's hitting against right handers two hundred four stinks. Patrick Baile' hit one hundred seventy four stinks And yet you Emerson Hancock because oh God, he's at ninety eight pitches. He's if he gets to one hundred, he's going to melt that whole Cleveland lineup top to bottom. I know they've got some good guys going on and stuff, but it's thirtieth in MLB out of thirty teams or something like that. So yeah, you're right, Puck. But especially with two outs and a guy on first and you if you give up a two run home run there, you still head four to three and then take him out Um It's just so easy to second guess. I was just sitting here thinking that If he brought Ferar in like like I thought he should have done and maybe you did too. Uh And so what if it you then and if Ferrere stunk it up, then they'd be questions afterward about like, hey, you said he was unavailable But you know, you a guy going on does it three games in a row? How could you put him out there? You can't win as a manager But it doesn't I I refuse to believe that he's the worst manager in baseball though. I don't know who is, but It's amazing how people have turned on Dan Wilson. There was a guy on Twitter that even said they should be taken out of the Mariners's Hall of Fame as a player. I mean, people are just that fed up Yeah, mean but it't matter. Dan Wilson was always one of the most loved mariners forever And then and now he's like the worst human being alive. It's it's bizarre. I don't think he's the worst human being alive I certainly think he's made, well, this is the problem when you do hire a manager with no managerial experience He had zero. It' zero Yeah, you have to, I think at least spend some time on a bench and and go through it a little bit. You know, had he been Scott sererviceices benchcoode for a couple of years, Okaykay. but when you atever service it was the same thing. They've had two straight managers with no experience. Yeah, but Scott S service had been had been in had been in it though. He'd been co like Dan Wilson, notothing. What was Dan Wilson? He was a roving catching instructor at times. I mean, show up at spring training, shake some hands. I mean, there's a big difference of you and I sitting in home managing the game, which he's probably doing to then sitting there you know, and trying to be in on the dugout and calling games and going through it all. and then all the cooks that are in the kitchen But but I think the biggest thing at least for me that you go back to last year Whether it's Dan Wilson and Woodworth and whoever else is inside these decisions being made with this bullpin, they're not good at it They're not good at it Well, Puck it comes back to the six man rotation and the piggybacking thing too because they're down one man as it is by keeping six starters on the roster So like you're talking about kicking the can down the road This is theseese are decisions that they've made, but they're not the tough decision they need to make with Louise Castille And they're just kind of And now now you look at it And okay, Castillo is pitched better. He didn't in that one relief outing that he had, but he's pitched better as a starter And so now now what do you do? You can't exactly go, well, we're going to send you to the bullpen now. You could have seent them to the bullpen a few weeks ago And even if he didn't like it, everyone else would have understood. And then And then on top of everything else, they flip flop You know, one week, one day they wake up and go, let's go with the sixth man rotation. The next day they wake up and go. no, let's go back to the piggyback. No, let's go with the piggybacking. Let's go back to the piggybacking. And then all of a sudden on Friday, we find out from Wilson that they're not going to piggyback. but they B Hancock didn't do it until the next day. it was the morning of the time that was supposed to be the piggyback that they announced it because he said they came to the decision after Friday So they they don't know what they are doing over there. They spent all week long And I'm watching all these starters, Logan Gilbert, maybe others did it do these car wasash interviews. Well Logan Gilbert did, Logan Gilbert did like three interviews talking about doing the piggyback And he never, ever does the piggyback And so when did they tell Logan Gilbert? When did they tell these guys that they were going to go out and do all this stuff? Did they tell them after Friday night? Hey, we're not going to do it anymore? And Logan Gilbert' like I knock on their hotel's door midnight. Yeah, hey, I didn't knowder a room service. No it's it's Jerry Justin. Jesus Christ, these two again Yeah, I got it. I got five tomorrow in seventy. Thanks. B Jerry on your damn barge. That's what I want. I want Jerry on the barge. You know that Jerry's running the team. It's not Dan Wilson Well, it' just ye, and I just think that they don't I am as confused as ever. then they then they announce it that they're not doing it anymore. I't know They didn't even say they're not doing it anymore. They just said, we're not doing it now. but we may revisit it. What the fuff is going on over there. I mean, honestly, it is a circus. I need the d d d d d I mean it's They're run Mickey Mouse at times. Well Well, no, Puck, that's exactly what it is. And if we're thinking it's Mickey Mouse just as fans watching these games, we're just sitting there watching. Imagine the players that are involved. I guarant we've talked about this. There is absolutely no way There'sill truth to the media What do you think Bry Miller is thinking about right now? Bryce Miller's got a big oldle dip in his mouth like the stupid ass morons I don't know. it is. they are Well, and po Logan Logan goes out there and gives up four runs. you, I mean, he hadn't given up four runs and three starts combined for the most part, you know, recently. Well because he gives that because that goes back. when did they tell Logan Gilbert that they weren't going to do it. because it because if we if we take Dan Wilson His word Dan Wilson said they came to the decision after the game Friday. So did they tell Logan Gilbert Friday night before the start? Yeah, you're just going to go back and pitch as long as you want That is just this yo yoing up and down back and forth. This is and that you know who this is squarely on. This is squarely on your best friend This isn't Dan Wilson. this isn't Woodworth. This isn't even Justin Hollander. This is squarely on I'm the smartest guy in the room, Jerry D Poto because it's his mess that he has created because he cannot make a decision what they want to do And he came up and they've come up with this idea probably led by him And they are just screwing things around. S it I been last week. They are messing around too much with this, treating it like their're exhibition games And at the end of the day, they miss the playoffs Because of this whole stuff they've been screwing around with. Oh like, burnem all. Burnem all all of them them You know, I'm talking out of both sides of the mououseth saying this. Both of those ideas I kind of liked and I could have gotten on board with the piggybacking and the six man rotation or the six man rotation It gives them more rest. They'll be more rested for the playoffs, that kind of thing But the more I think about it now, especially I didn't even factor in the thought that they'd have one less guy in the bullpin And some of those guys that they've had in the bullpin really aren't that good. I mean' not. I mean, you look at Rutgers, Simpson Poppy Rutgers man R guys like that. Those guys are just, you know, I mean, no offense. They're probably great people and I' love to have a beer with them. but I don't really want to see him on the mound if I'm a Mariniters's team that's trying to go to the World Series. I think Ruckers' Okay and Devil is okay, but they're not high leverage guys. I mean, I don't I think you need those low leverage guys guys that kind of like You clean but I dont like okay guys when you're trying to go to the World Series. No, no, I know, but every team's every bullpens's got those guys. I mean, not everyone's got five you seven guys down there eight guys throwing gas every, you know, every one of them is an all star. You're always going to have like one or two guys in there and they're fine, clean up mop up guys and those guys would be fine, but You can't use them in a game in which you're trying to win and this goes back to they literally count down this minutes, the seconds so they can take out their starting pitcher. And all they sell you on all the time is o, we've got the greatest starting rotate. We've got so we' an embarrassment of richches. We got six starters. We have a six man rotation. then make them pitch seven innings. makeake them throw one hundred ten pitches, one hundred fifteen. say that's the goal. You're going to throw unless you if you're going fine You're throwing one hundred and fifteen pitches. one hundred and ten, whatever it is And the thinking behind that would be to save the b Soid honestly because okay, we normally wouldn't do this, but since it's a six man rotation, you're going to get an extra day of rest. So you can go one hundred fifteen And you can also if you're Hancock, he wriggled out of a bunch of jams yesterday. Sure off course he did. And then maybe they were thinking, well, we're pushing a little too far with him wriggling out of another one. So we better get him out of there. He's at ninety eight pitches, but Yeah and pitchers really they want to get through six innings. They do want to get through six innings. I think they I think they value that that quality start stuff, you know, six innings, three earned runs. Yeah. Well, you know, my opinion on the quality starts of six innings it's the stupidest stat in baseball Now thereum than that. Yeah, Six innings, not a quality start to me. Sorry, in the pucket world of baseball, six innings is okay, not a quality start. Well you Puck you would have loved it in the sixties and seventies because they had four man rotations. Yes. And these guys were throwing one hundred twenty five pitches. There's so many things about this Gibson wasn't coming out of the game. I can tell you that much sixties and seventies had it all. Great music. You know what? Women were all natural and they didn't wear bras. I mean, there's so much I can go on and on about the sixties and seventies what I would have loved about it No, it was a great time to be alive. I bet it was. bet I bet it was. So Dan Wilson, you don't, you're like me. You don't think they would ever pull the plug on him I don't Yeah. not this year. unless things really continue to spiral downward. there's still in the hunt' half came back. And I know things have been, But yeah, it would take much worse than this for them to get rid of Dan Wilson Yeah, I ag I would think it'd be hard to find a manager if I'm Jerry D Poto. God, I can't find a puppet like him to do everything I want him them to do. Let me ask you, S I was gonna to ask you. Let's say they were And again, you and I both agree, mayaybe people are saying this is a dumb conversation. Trust me, we've have plenty of more conversations that would be dumber than this. Let's say they were to do it Who is it Who Who are the internal candidates? Is it Manni Atka He's maniaced be the most obvious guy, a veteran guy who's been around the game for a long time. He's a former manager too, isn't he? Wast he at the Reds or something? Is it Edgar No God no. Pete Woodworth Maybe You know who I want. I think God know about Edgar because he just it'd be another Damn Wilson type. You know if you know who they should elevate. Who's Hill Oh pero Well, Perry Ho could do no wrong Perry Hill. Do you think other infield coaches in the league go, you know what? I mean, everybody talked about Perioill like he's the best thing ever. What about me over here? Yeah, Perioill, that'd be fun I think the postgame media conferences would be better with Perry Hild and that's the other thing too. And what I really enjoy more than ever now and I've been enjoying it for a while is the disdain in which Ryan Divish writes his leads now in discussing B J' very vanilla and bland post game response to everything that is the same. And it is as usual, not verbose. It just doesn't say anything. And I mean How about the shots at Randy in Dish's story today too Well Casually went over for that ball. Casually Llly gagged his ass. He made no effort to get the ball. Zero effort And then they finally, you know, he finally gets there It's a great relay. Thank you to was it Emerson, I think. Yeah, cool And they get this guy out plenty of time and God bless Mitch Garver can't hold onto the ball Well he he makes a good saag on a short hot from Emerson and then Yeah, he had time to secure that ball, but no, Randy, I get a kick out of it because I think he saw the ball and thought And that's going to go foul And then normally when someone finds out it doesn't go foul and it's suddenly fair, there's like this reaction of, oh shit, man, I got to get on my horse here. I ram slower. Oh, I mean, Randy was like, oh God, I guess I was wrong about it being foul. It's actually fair I guess I'll have to go over and get it just it's I still love the guy though. I just get a kick out of him and he made a good relay so and they had him did plenty of time at home He did. He did. But he is it's That's why they call Randy Land. It's just he's out there in his own his own little world. Well I don Well they are it's a roller coook. Maybe I he's theill They're going they're going to sweep this series. I mean, they're go. they always do this. Okay. There's one thing you can count on with the Mariners. when you're high on them They're gonna to let you down and when you're low on them They just reel off windings like nothing, you know, it'll happen. All right Youre you're going to guarant So they've got twelve. let's see Let's see how many games when I come back They would have completed Well, let's say eleven gam. Do I come back on the eleventh Let's just say twelve games. What's their record here in the next twelve games before the All Star brereak. What do you think it is? think the again the Angels three against the BlueJays Three gets the Marlins, three gets the Rays. I have to go eight and four. Eight and four So whatever that is. What's that make? I'm fifty and. Fty seven U fit that together Yp Eight and four, all right Okay, I'm gonna buy that. I'm gonna I can't buy it. I'll say six and six. C know I don't wantanna say six And again, if they're over five hundred and they're on a winning streak, my sacrifice to you and the audience is I'll stay and I'll stay in Barcela att that point actually Madrid, I'll just stay there. Okay. Travel more around Spain Maybe give us a te give us a tease on what Kruger's about to say here. Oh we get a lot of mud Dan Wilson, you know with his future and then just, you know, his disdain for how they're treating the pitchers Okay. now the tree in the p. Before you go though, and Kruger's coming up, you'll get them. I have to put someone on the barge because I saw this commercial again today and I'm so tired of this commercial And I've been wanting to put I've been trying to find it and I finally found it on YouTube And I want to put this These three guys on the barge. You've seen this commercial a million times. Why? Because you watch Mariner Games I don't know, guys, I think I'm gonna add Sam Fr in the last league of my part l. Bro, what? That's a risky move. No, no, he should totally do it. You know, you should add another thing No way. That's never gonna hit They couldn't have picked Snowquami Casino could have picked three bigger dopes to do a gambling commercial than those three idiots No way man, bro, That's never going to hit. These three dumb asses. I couldn't tell you what a parlay is from a parliament. I don't, I mean, come on and they that commercial plays every single break It does. I don't know guys. I think I'm gonna s fr to the last leag of my part line man. I just how that makes my skin crawl that commercial Anybody who put that together and the people that were in charge of casting those three dopes to be three guys. They're going to be at a casino. talking gambling, you didn't did you did you have any idea who goes into those casinos? It's not those three. Those know if you're the three guys If you're the casino though, Puck, you want people to believe that that's the clientele buts up at the casino s it's not not right. It's guys like you and me that are just degenerate gamb. I woke up at six this morning just so I could put a small bet on Victor Hoghland in that playoff against Scottty. And thank you Victor for making that put. No I didn't have Victor, but I had met Fitzpatrick into my golf league. someomeone else had Scotty Scheffler all by themsel and if they would have want to all by themsel They would have vaulted up to first place and knocked me out. So Victor Hoin, Norway, my wife's country. than you. F. Scottty Scheffler. F foooter God, that was How weird is golf though because Hoin's Lipped in and and it was going the opposite direction. It should have liipped out. Yeah. Hlin shouldn't have made that put and it goes in and then Scottty did Scotty choke or did Scotty just miss that put I don't know He just I mean, I don't think he choked. He made plenty of great putts that yesterday down the stretch. You just missed it. Yeah Is it Yeah Okay. Yeah just with a little l. Happens. All right, well, that's it for a few weeks. That's it. You get me. you're not. I'm not gonna to see a couple of. Wait one more thing, one more thing. I gott to take issue with you on something. It really disturbed me. Okay. You want to go to a bullfight in Spain. I'm going to a bullfight Why becausecause I wantan to see a bullfight. I've always wanted to see one Okay. It's a tradition in the And then that listener checked in with you and said, Hey, you know, you didn't think the bull dies, but they actually still do. Well, there might have been some confusion because I can't remember what the guy is called, whoever the person that's out there with the with the red thing. They used to if the Bll Mador the Matador, thank you guy, I couldn't come up. The Matador used to get killed. L the bull used to be able to take the matador out now I think if they find the matador is in distress They don't take out they come in and they intervene. But I also thought that they don't kill the bulls anymore But then a guy said, no, they still do it. So Well, if they intervene on the behalf of the of the Matador Yeah. Why don't they intervene on behalf of the bll at some point? Beause one's a personking on those MMA fights when the guy's down on the camp and So they's kind of the shit out of him. It's a bll. It's a bl Let's playballs I that You don't think you be sad when you see the bull dy? No, I'm gonna stand up and I think you can bet on it in the stadium. I'm gonna stand up and cheer. G, C, G U puck, That's disappointing. I know I'm I'm a w you an animal lover and all that but I it would sadden me to see a bull die in a room. In fact, I'm going to put if I was at that, you know, bull fight like you're going to I'd be are the damn bull Soft be rooting for the bowl too if they can take them mador out, but they don't do it anymore. Okay. All right. I'll see you in a few weeks. go Cgs. Okay, P goo Coos, Have a good time. Well, floor is yours. They're leaking oil bill Where's mine Well, yeah, it hasn't it hasn't gone well. you know, they they still continue to to struggle to score, you know, they had what twelve Thirteen straight games with three runs or less. Was it thirteen twelve or thirteen, thirteen. And then they finally they finally got over it this this this yesterday And actually yesterday represented I thought a real change in approach If you watched yesterday's ball game, they scored most of their runs with the adage of trying to hit the ball the other way. A lot of balls hit the other way, a lot more willingness to put the ball in play. I thought They were resourceful and willing And that kind of went from top to bottom in the lineup So that was encouraging. and actually As I watch Cal Raleigh go through the throws of this season I thought yesterday, even though he had what one hit. You walk twice, you hit the balll hard, the other time up I thought he looked the best I've seen him in a long time because he looked on time. He looked like he was seeing the baseball. He looked like he was watching it travel and making better swing judgments. H one hit was the opposite feel. the then he walked twice where he didn't swing off the plate You can swing above the hands. He got a good ball to hit his last time up and hit the ball hard. So I know these are small victories. When you're when you have a guys supposed to be stirring the drink U But I thought that was encouraging if he can continue to carry that forward where he's seeing the baseball. you know, and then he lined out to center. So these were it just was encouraging to me as I watched Cal because he's so important to what they're trying to accomplish offensively because they're challenged And when your best player is just haaving an abysmal season, let's be real injury or no injury, you can only look at the numbers and they're just not, they're not good. They're not any meaningwhere near where we thought he would be For some ofs He Bill, let me jump in back on there what you started with of their ability to hit at the right field and it's a conscious effort because I know someone's watching or listening to this right now and go, wasn't that just kind of dumb luck orr is that what they were trying to do? You think that was a conscious effort and kind of a game plan going in I thought there was a real commitment because it just looked that way from top to bottom as I watched the game. I thought all hitters were trying to stay up the middle of the field and hit the ball the other way stay on the on the baseball a little bit longer They ran the bases. Roblays scored a run with a couple of stolen bases. He was an effective player in the game with of course Canzone and Ry both out evenven though Can' own can't shit Con's a real concern to me. I think I announced a week ago that I thought he'd go on the IL. But when we watch him It's concerning It's concerning. It looks like if he plays, he has to jog. You can't play baseball that way Can't. Your instincts will take over and he's going to blow his hamstring I hate to say that because his bat sings But I mean, I think they're rolling the dice with him. grranted, they need him. They need him. and you notice how they've juggled the line up a little bit too It's been juggled more than once. But Cow Ry falling further down in the lineup was had to happen, Canzone coming up in the middle of the linea makes all the sense in the world So these are things that they had to do to adjust to how the team is performing So the kids down at the bottom continue to do a pretty good job. Cole Young is a bonified player. man. that guy has got great bat to ball skills. He hits all pitches. He hits breaking balls. He hits fast balls up. He hits the ball the other way. He made a mistake. He had won r over the weekend, but boy, he looks great. Emerson is going through some tough times, you know, they're preaying on a little bit. They're pitching him tough And when he does hit the ball, it's at somebody. So this is all part of the the right of passage as we as we as we look at a long career in the big leagues from him. It's about the last three or four games that Dan Wilson has juggled with this lineup and you mentioned it before moving Cal down. Do you like what they they have done here in the last few games or anything that you would like to see them do differently with it I don't know much what much more they can do. I mean, Really' not one hundred percent You don't know when he's going to be able to play. Is Canzone going to play Is he not going to play? We' going to see him tonight. He's going to go out there and They're gonna, you know haveave a wheelchair to get them around the bases or what? Be he can swing the bat. I mean, I'm just saying hamstrings are tricky And when I saw him hit it with full speed and he got that hitch in his giddy up, I said all I out for him for sure because you just don't mess around with it, right? You don't mess around. Hmstrings are they can go, they can start to be there. they kind of go quiet, but if they're not ready as soon as you push them really, really hard Bad things happen So Concerning. Roserna is starting to look a little bit better. You know, it's a rerun Homer. lookooks like he's got his timing back, which is really important because he' a best offensive player Rodriguez has had some stresses where he's hit the ball hard He still has a little bit of a penschion for swinging off the plate You know, wish to see him a little bit more disciplined, but you know, Josh Naila swings about the same way. Erie in the count Erie swings doesn't wait around. You know, he gets his hits, but boy, he doesn't have a long at bat ever ever I mean that guy hits early in the count And if you make him Chase off the fringe He'll chase off the fringe and he's got good bball back to ball skills But it seems to me that's going to hamper his ability to have great stretches where he's really you know, hit the ball hard, you know, and really helping to carry this team because right now the two kids And the two lefties that play off and on Curing the team Cold and cold the cold cold and cold Theose R is having a great year. The two lefties at slug And the guys in the middle, you know, you're talking about, you know Yeah, Rodriguez is having a good year statistically, but he's he's down down like six and slugging on the team And then of course Raleigh is just no pulse there and Nailors slugin under four hundred. So those guys and granted, we can say that they've kind of hit that point where it can only go one direction, right? So maybe that's the good news is that we see things only getting better with those three players. Rodriguez great second half player, Raleigh, he's got to get better. Got to get better. just no way in the world continontuue and Naylor after the really rock bottom start he add to the season, he has been better. I just watched him. he set an early the count swinger. I didn't realize he was that kind of hitter. I thought he was a lot more discerning because he had such a high on base percentage and a high batting average when he came over. And when we saw him last year, I don't remember him swinging at the first pitch every time But I guess the concern that I have because I have always been very positive about of what where this season is going just because I think they're going to get healthier. It's a long season. They are the best team in the division. Don't worry about it. But I guess as it gets on and if it keeps carrying on. You have to stop using that excuse. It's early and they're going to get healthier at some point. They've got to turn it around. Now they got twelve games here left before the All Star break. You know, now they're a game under five hundred. I thought when they got to first place a few weeks ago, I think we all agree they probably never going to give it back. because of that schedule where you and I talked about that schedule that this was a real moment for them to stretch their legs out. They went nine and thirteen in that stretch against below average teams, teams that they're much better than So they haven't and I know they've got a bunch of injuries and but so do these other teams Ebody's got injuries. No one's healthy but they've yet to really stretch them or stretch themselves out of that division. ' mayaybe there's just a concern. I don't know, walk me off the the edge of the cliff right now because'm I'm cracking a little bit, Bill. I'm cracking. My confidence is cracking a little bit with these guys Well, you know, this is the first time I've actually taken the moment to take a look at The Rangers. I mean, that should tell you something right there I went and looked at the Rangers this morning You know, they've got competence starting pitchent. their offense is better this year. If Sager gets healthy, he's h in a buck eighty If he comes back bats that weren't hitting are hitting Plus they've added Nemo They've added burgers of fore homers U they've got some other answers in that lineup Young having a much better year Their offense will be better. Lanford can never stay health. He's got another hamstr. He's out They got a guy n Janice closes for him, but the the relief is a little sketchy But that's that's I leaked at in this morning I don't know. I mean, we're five hundred clubs. And we got we obviously have injuries Injuries are keeping us from really getting out a run But the other thing that's really keeping us off of a run is that we have bonafide top not starting pitching, but we can't make up our mind what to do with it. And yesterday was a case in point You had to see, I would have to say, I would I would challenge the decision making yesterday. I try not to do that because I know it's difficult I don't know what's scripted and what's not scripted I mean, can you tell me that Guys like Rucker and Devilla And and Simpson, they're part of the answer part of the answer when're trying to win the games They can't be They're not, they don't have the resume to do it And you had to see that coming when you're sitting with with Emerson Hancock with one more out to get in the sixth inning at ninety eight pitches These guys are pitching once a week. Okay. He can't finish that inning with the bottom of the order up Would you know what's coming Burn Bizardo. If Byer pitches the next and against the left is then who pitches the eighth? Do you know who switsch in the eight? The for a guys You had to see that coming You had to say to yourself, I've got to keep Bizardo in my back pocket I have to I can see how this is playing out I Hancock and finish the in Yeah. I you have to. Let me jump in right there. So you would have preferred because there's a bunch of different options they could have gone. you and I are probably on the same page here Hancock finished that inning. Yeah Yes And I grant it, you know the thing is is that we don't know what the rules are It's like, you know, driver's with brand new rules. We'd walk in there. if we didn't know all the rules, we probably wouldn't be drunk because know what the brules are pigy backing A are we not piggybacking? Who's considered able to pitch when we're ahead How many pitches is too many? You know, or they are they fall off the cliff with Columbus and the Nina Vina and the Santa Maria and the dragons get them becausecause they've gone past that whatever that bumper is, whatever the number is where you we fall off the edge of the earth, right? I don't know. These are things we don't know because You had to see that one coming. Yeah, well the number clearly Yeah, the number clearly for them is one hundred they just they do not want to let any of these guys go over one hundred. I think Cancock had a game ker this year was one Gilberton three. Yeah, Gilbert did Gilberton, but Hancock right there. Yeah I don't get the strategy of it. I don't know what was decided before or during And I think it brings in a question I'll get to in a second with Dan Wilson, but I just don't I don't And then I guess if you go to Bizardo, you tell me because you've done both You go to Bizardo get one out. he throws what is it ten pitches Did he throw Let me, I just want to double check. makeake sure that I'm right that he threw ten g.' I don't have that in front of me. Well I got very much He threw ten he ten pitches. He gets one out he gets those ten. Why can't he come back out there for the seventh We can, but that they they flip in left the roll Lfties are coming up. So the matchup it says Sire. It's what it says Yeah and look, you know what you have behind it. I mean, don't kid yourself. These other guys are are guys that are, you know, and look, they've had great, great success finding guys that are somewhat reclamation that are guys that haven't been very good with other teams. and now they've suddenly made an adjustment and they're a much better pitcher with us and whether Deavilla can be that. mean he's made a lot of strides started to help help learn how to throw a breaking pitch Rucker, I don't know a ton about them, but these guys have never been in that situation. I mean, just look at the ball short picture. We're short brass, but what are you going to do about it? You just to sit around a wait Does the answer just to wait? The answer is to wait. The answer is to not have another guy out there. Yeah just look at the bot because you're playing with one last guy. Yeah. If you you're playing with one you're painting yourself into a corner. You've got five good starters. Castillo refuses to go to the bullpen. now look listen, Castill was much better this last time out. O overver half his pitches were off speed Thirty sliders at seventeen changeups All those lefties. Now I don't think he was perfect and Ramirez wasn't in the lineup. Let's be real. And the Iians aren't great, but he pits very, very well It's not like he can't, but you can walk through the numers. The stars, the ARAs, the other five guys They're all it all it just it just who who's who's not fitting The guy with two quality starts. He got one this last time and the RA around five and everybody else is under four too W Millers sparkling, what is it at one point Um point nine seven Huper seventeen starts seven. qualities Kirby, sixteen stars nine qualities moveves, sixteen stars nine qualities. Miller, seven stars two qualities, but a lot of those because he got cut in half on a lot of those games. Hancock sixteen stars quality these guys are all between four, six and three and a half Miller one point nine seven and there's Castillo. Yeah I want to go I want and you're playing one short in the bllpin. Yeah. I want to go back the bullpin's ten and two. Okay. I just a stay on the bullpin before we get this let's go in the bullpin. I just will challenge again, go back to the bizarreo thing. I know the lefties are coming up. you can't get out of Lty through ten pitches The last time he threw Thursday he threw eight So in thir so F Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Stone eighteen pitches. This guy can't come back out if you wanted to do it. I I get it. that's it calls for that that spot in the lineup where Spyire comes in, I get it. but the fact that you wanted to waste them there It would to me would require to use them again. Okaykay, fine they didn't Why not that's fair? Why not go to Muno's? When clearly Simpson and Rucker are struggling and they tie it up at four Hoskins has come. Wh not turn to your closer Get he doesn't like doing it. You know what? You're going to have to do it in the playoffs. It's not going to just be perfect every time that he comes in if they're going to make a run to the world series where there's no one on And it's a perfect one, two, three inning save. He's going to have to come into a game of pitch and traffic. Why not go to him there? W that not have been an option Sill. These are these are these are fair thoughts because Simpson versus Rice Hopkins, that was not that was an unfair unfair match upp, right? I mean, Hoskins has got a great track record and uh evenven though he's hitting under two hundred, he's got power and he he's a bona fight right hand bat for sure So those are all real things and whether or not the inning got going a little too quick He didn't really put it in your mind that you would need possibly Munos to to face a right hand hitter. because they had all flipped the lineup over when Spyire went through. they flipped them. So they had all these writies coming up, right? So he could have had the matchup he's looking for with with Munos, right I'm just thinking that, you know, just life gets so much easier when you just can see it as playing this day that you're looking at the eighth inning and going what am I going to do? Am I going to go to these guys? Am I really going to go to these guys with the game on the line when I can get Hancock to throw a sinker and get a groundnder and now got I've got Spyire and then I got Bizardo in my back pocket. I mean, that just seems like the easy way to go as opposed to having a stressed Munos. Now Munos is throwing a ball up, bad Five saays in a row What is he five days in a row He's u had only two hits over that stretch of those games. that's five games and nine strike Oson ball one hundred getting ahead throwing strikes. He looks like a different different guy hundred percent different guys. keepeing his front shoulder closed, better balance on the rubber. pounding the strikesone and throwing with with confidence and verosity. I mean, this looks great, right? Right So I think that's I think the boop everything looks right. It's just that they're short on depth They don't have the debts Let me they need. they need another guy and Brash Who knows when he's coming back And you can't just keep digging into the bottom of the barrel to try to solve the problem And whether or not the market's coming to them or not, they got to start thinking hard and fast about having a right hand relf or they eat one Let me ask you one more. You tell me if this is unfair. I don't know and But again, you you play, you're in this spot Why is unless there's an injury which we don't know. Why is Jose Freer unavailable Wh is ten pitches. Well, but he did earlier this year. He did in May. He threw three He threw three games in a row against Atlanta three in a third one hit So he's done it before But he threw ten pitches on Saturday. onn Friday, he threw eleven He can't come out and look one more time looking at how many games he's been in, but he's been a lot ges He done a lot of games You got to look at his games games perform. He's been in a lot of games. but he can't. I mean, in a game and I'm not saying y, I'm not saying Sundayayss a must win, but at some point to feel good about yourselves and to get a win. Can't you just be like Do we you'd rather have him Then Simpson, wouldn't youa The same problem rears it's ugly head tomorrow or today. Okay No All right, you know, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? They're going to because the starters going to go Like they go, right? They're going to go six You're saying they're you're pushing the problem down the road. That's fair You know, I think I think it all emanates from can we make a decision on the five starters? Can we do that? Okay, and we're not. So that what they're not telling us. They won't even tell us why they dropped the piggyback. Why did that get dropped? And this is the other thing. I don't understand what's going on. Does anybody understand what's going on They have they have taken something and have completely throwown it in the blender of this is not how you handle PR situation. It is such a disaster what they've done and they've created it themselves. Fine. you want to do this at This piggyback one. the first time you didn't communicate to the team that you're going to do it to these guys and then you do it So then they're like, I have no idea what's going on then they Seems like they over commommunicateated, which is a good thing And then we have a whole week leading up to this where all everyone's going to be a part of it. everyone's getting a turn in in this piggy backack Gilbert, I'm watching interviews. MLB network about Gilbert being asked about it. Sacrifice. Yeah, it's fine. I'm doing whatever I can for the team. And then the day was it the day of I can't even remember I think that morning of, they're like now we're scrapping it And then there's no explanation why they've scrapped it So do they I guess they have zero idea what they're doing over there. There's zero plan right now That's what it seems like E everything is is everything centers around Casto Any pitches good And then change your mind It pitch to go the change of m Even though they divvied it up, even though they split it up into others having to sacrifice, it still comes down to one guy. still comes down to Eise Castillo.. You know, I mean they have to find a market for Castillo. He has to go You have to find a market He needs to go play someplace else and you're going to have to eat some money and hopefully he get something in return and they need a right hand reliever. N don't sure you can get that done with Gastillo or not. And they they probably internally are going, Well, the market's just out there. too many teams in the hunt. notot enough teams that want to trade price is too rich, noobbody will take Casillo' contract, blah, blah, blah. We'll just keep waiting. We'll just keep waiting it out because we can't we're going to play better than this. We're going to have some games where we score five, six, seven runs and then it won't matter. And, you know, we can get by we'll be okay and everything will be fine and the guys will get healthy and we'll be okay But you know, we play at the margin whether this team is healthy or not. This is a team that's played the same way forever. They play from the seventh on. they play one run games for twelve and fifteen and one run games Actually we've gotten better belieelieve it or not, whether that's ood batter or different. I don't know, but we're twelve and fifteen Let me and and they got awfull the good talent down at the end, but they're twelve and fifteen becausecause their det isn't there That's herur them all season alone Let's wrap up with a real positive storyline. Okaykay. I want to wrap this up before. you and I you and I don't talk here for the next few weeks and maybe this happens sllight chances happens when I'm gone. I I doubt it. I don't think this organization would do it Do you think Dan Wilson's job is in jeopardy, not your opinion, not whether you think you should be back or not unless you want to waade into those waters But whether or not they would make a decision if they can't get out of this malaise they're in right now I don't see I don't think his jobs in jeopardy. That's my opinion I think this is u the way that the This team is being managed is done by committee. So the committee has to look at themselves and start making better decisions. and giving Dan a little bit more resource. I mean, he needs a healthier team He needs a leather reliever. He needs a solution in the ratation That's what he needs and unfair to judge them when they're in this position G Now Was that a great decision yesterday? No Has he made Has he managed the team? othertherwise, well, I think he has I think he's doing a good job. I think he's positive. He's keeping the team in the right vein, the right This thing could be could could of come unravel from the beginning You had the Aos arena Raleigh myth Then you have, you know, all the stuff that's happened to the pissing staff which is confusing And then you know, we haven't even yet to see what happens when Donnaman comes back. So and then there's this whole adage around spending money on right hand hitters that aren' hitting where your left hand hitters are swinging the bat. But there's a lot of like scripting this done that isn't necessarily Dan's call So I think Dan is doing fine. I think, you know, that was not his best day yesterday Youobody's perfect, right couldould have worked out, D didn't work out. Th kids they brought in couldn't hold it We can kind of see that they're they're not really ready for that situation. They're They're pitch from behind guys We got too many pitch from behind guys. you don't have en pitch in front of the game front of the game guys. So I don't I don't think it's cause for him to lose his job obbviously very partial. because um, He's like a blood brother to me, so I guess I'm a little, you know, jaded that way Plus I just know the person. and I think he's a bright guy. I think he's doing a great job in managing a really challenging injury plague team with a lot of confusion around their pitching, which is the elite part of their program You are elite as well. and I'm going to miss our chances here for the next couple of weeks, but we come back hopefully they'll turn it around. Maybe I I'll be the reason. I leave the country. They will start playing B cloud and Mar Layer has left Right. And if they do start and I'm going to make a sacrifice and I want to look into the camera for people. I'll make a sacrifice for you They do play better when I'm gone I'll sacrifice myself and I'll stay in Spain Forever You and your daughter. She'd love that. Ohad. She would love I roll. She's like my son when I dropped him off at football camp on Sunday. I wasn't thirty seconds inside the dorm at PLU getting stuff where he looked at me. goes You can go now What's happened since then? already paniced?'s already lost everything and just three whatever. I mean, we could go back to nineteen eighty three. if you remember that one. I don't remember this at all. I was like seven at the time h But when they Marers were playing the white socks, they put the wrong lineup card out And the White sox were able to figure it out and they bat it out of order and just got it Splifies probably what that nineteen eighty three Mariners team was like. twenty thirteen, the Mariners hosted a turned back the clock night overver at the Sfe Go Field. I don't remember this. They audered the nineteen ohine Seattle Turks. They were a Class B Northwestern L team that originally stormed their way to an incredible. They were one hundred nine in fifty eight Unbelievable. But on this day june twenty ninth, speaking of soccer, football In nineteen fifty, the United States National team pulled off And really to this date, one of the biggest upsets in the history of the FIFA World Cup. nineteen fifty was taking place in Brazil group play And the United States knocked off England one to nothing. Still regarded as it one of the biggest upsets in soccer history, at least for the FIFA World Cup, which again is underway today. and of course, the U. S. coming up against Bosnia. If they win that, whoever wins that's going to come back and play the in Seattle next week, which is just going to be banana Especially if it's the United States. The tickets, I think we looked yesterday were something like three thousand dollars get in now I mean, that's only going to go up. especially if they win.
