This team clearly has the top two teams in the American League in their sites and if they continue the way that they're playing, maybe not at this clip They're going to probably catch them in by August Think about that. We get to August. Th how much more of the season is still left for you get to August first They're going to be right there, right there with, I think, fulfilling all the expectations that many people thought that they would do. But I mean, this is the best time to be in the city Cittitylement toown this past weekend. I was downtown when walking K five off the cent it's ever cleaner than it is right now. I think they're doing some stuff because of the World Cup. but I mean the Mariners pack the place for the Met series for the DVac series. You got World Cup coming. My my my my late great father in law, Jim Fair had a van and I will tell you the story My beautiful wife and I we stole the van one time and we took it all the way up to Vancouver for a trip during college and yeah, I mean it was some of my best memories in college are in the laws van. He took all of us to a homecoming dance in the van and we bied hard. I mean, I mean, it's I'm surprised there's not more vans out there, Buck to be honest with you. There really there really should be more vans. I mean my twelve year old is itching at the time he can turn sixteen so he can then drive the van. So he is and I'm scared actually for that. I don't know if I want him and sixteen driving the van knowing what he could get into, but he has been itching at the moment to get into it. Hey, you mentioned you were down How much of they swept up downtown? I haven't been there in a minute. Where Where are we putting everybody? Are we putting them on a barh out in the w I don't know I mean, I'm I'm telling you this. I got off on King Street did the walkown to King five. The wife and I over the weekend, we stayed at the the W one night. We walked around town. I mean, it was just I mean, it was just absolutely incredible. Buck. It was absolutely amazing. I do want to give the lady at the front desk of the W a shout out. you know, when you're fifty three and you don't get out and party all lot. I maybe hit the wine a little bit too much. I woke up massive The room was spinning I just walk down to the front des. I'm not even sure if I had pants on I go to the front counter. the lady goes. Suatville, I go Yeah, I maybe forehead So ye I can't party like I used to but we fun fun. Whatass this? the city looks great Was this post Emmy night? Yeah, we decided, you know what? let's have some fun. You know, the wife andjoys Taylor. they always bring in they always sneak in bottles of wine. So it was a it was a fun night. It was a great night and our good friend I was there pop to see our good friend Ian Furnes bring home his first ever Emmy and I was so proud of the guy. gave a big hug. He did got an Emmy for the Krak and pre game post game show. So congrats to the Kraken crew took homeman Emmy. Fun stuff. I'm glad you brought up that Ian Fernance took homeman Emmy Was he the only one nominated in the group No. Oh, there was I think he I think they went up against the bllazers, the seeahawks. I think they maybe the Mariners. So Yeah, the whole group But is it is it one of those where hey, the Blazers group is already won? The Marinerss group is probably one SeOks. I don't even know who would be whoo's done the SeOks preame? They don't even do a TV pre game, do they? I'm not sure, I'm not quite sure who was who was on it. Maybe mayaybe it was the preseason crew, you know, Kurt Menaf pre season crew like Kurt Mage out't So let's p, let's call it what it is. He was up against no one and they felt sorry for him. and they gave him an on. You can't e's your boy. You can't give him a little love. I mean go on again. I mean, we can we can we can praise him, but I don't think we should, you know, act like he's Edward R Merle or something or. He's going to bring, you know, he's bringing that with them to Wazoo. He's faking that out. Oh God, that's going to be everywhere. He's going to talk about winning that thing more than anything How it was a Now we needin to two on the night And I'll say this, it was We had a photo talk by the name of Joseph Huererta and him and I. We actually did the Hailey Van Lif story together. We did the pickleball story together. But we've never won an Ammy and it was a good week. The story we did on a couple BMX racers out of Buckley The world Champions. She's only nine. It not only you know, won that night for best Sports story, but also wanted Edward R. Merle for best Sorts story and he just got out of business. So it' kind of this was his last story that he submitted. So it was fun to win with him. And then the other one, which I China the most proud of is basically a repeporter category where you put your best three stories up in this group and you go up against everybody And the category. I mean, it was basically packed with the top reporters from Portland, Seattle and to know that it was A BMX story, a story on Siara, the girl from Edmunds that battled addictions and drugs and came back to play soft and a prep zone story and ended up holding out and beating all the investigators, the crime, the murder. That am you know, Boma E and that one I'm most proud of because it just kind of shows that people still care about you know Just good. Inspirational stories from the high school level up to the colleges and to these nine year old girl in Buckley. So it was fun. It was cool Did we not nominate the story done on the the ballard twenty twenty nine Champions six teams I mean hestly one some of your best work that you've ever done. I't that didn' make it I think your daughter. I think your daughter made that story. you know, I think if we would have been able to maybe have a goPro on her as she was flipping through the air that may have taken us to the next level. But you know, who knows maybe twenty twenty eight maybe withith the LA Olympics, we'll see the Blor gymnastics team reappear. We'll see. But Well, congratulations. How many Emmys now Egan do you have? I think we're I think we're officially pucked. I know sometimes you and I have joked. We're in the twenties. I think officially red fifteen. So got some work to do, you know. You youre Tom Brady, you're Jordan and Tom Brady and ill Ruffled, but you are. I'll just say this,' it was u When you drink I'll say this, you go to award show, get some drinks in you early because it makes it easy no matter what happens. So whether you win or lose, you you're having fun Do you think you have the most of anyone in Seattle?? No I think there's I think there's definitely some u Photographers out there L guy personersality wise, like TV person I think you have some of those like Susanna Frame. The investigating Chris Egels, some of them that have won a lot through the years with their investigative work. So they they may be they may be over That number. Let's go from the enemies. whereere do you want to go next? You want to go You want to go see Rusll. You want to go Russe Wilson, you want to go Mariners. What do you want to go? Dan, I wouldn't mind going Russell. I need you and I need Jim moreore. It would nice to talk to Jim because you know I mean, I missed her positive. and I See the announcement made on video and so many people just are bashing them and I guess I just don't get it. I honestly don't get it. I just look back At what he did for this city, I mean, I know my kids, it was part of their childhood watching him and that team just take over this city. win that first Super Bowl championship. I get it You know, the interception of Super Bowl two. some people are saying that's going to cost them as haall of fame, but you know, that it to me to never tarnished whoo he was in this city Um I just never and I get it some people just didn't like the cliches that he would throw out, but I never had an issue with him. He was always there to do interviews. He never said no. I mean, I could go on about the story of Alan Reed and I year one, going to Seattle Children's Hospital. I've said it before on this show. He invited us to come He really didn't want to come because he liked it. It was kind of a private deal and I've done thousands of these stories pocket thousands. and usually the professional athletes are with a PR person. they don't know what where to go and he basically knew that hospital, you know, he knew exactly where to go. He knew all the kids names. It was obvious from that shoot that This was not a one time deal and it ended up not being a one time deal. So not only, you know, did he bring the hype of help bring the hype of Stee Hs back with the LLB, but just what he did for this cute just my mind And ever this community so . personersally I'm a fan. you know, I hope somehow he can find this way in the Hall of Fame. I understand there's a lot of people that are going to look at what he did in Denver once he left Seattle. I get it, but you can also throw his stats up against a lot of other. I mean, there's a lot of people that did not win the MVP award that are in the Hall of Fame and there's several quarterbacks that never won an MVP that are in the Hall of Fame. So I just I wish him the best. And I understand once he married Sierra, he got a little Hollywood and things like that, But I've never had an issue with them. And I will say this. I think when he lost his best friend, Trevor Moad, who I've talked about on the show, a ment mental training coach I think things changed a little bit for him. but I give him nothing but love and I wish him the best. And I think Seattle should give him a lot of love too. I really do for what he meant to this city and what he did for this city. But I get it, you know, some people either it's jealous, they just didn't like the cliches, the Hollywood living. and he did some things along the way, but we all we all make we all say stupid things along the way. So I've got no problems with him and I hope he does well Yeah, I think with him is is this for me. I mean, he's the And I don't think anyone will debate this. He's the greatest quarterback that's ever put on a uniform. He probably will be The best quarterback ever. right Yeah know. Maybe someone will come along the way and knock them off. And if they do that, great. But he will has cemented himself as a franchise great, just not a quarterback, but just an overall player I guess years ago, maybe when I got older Chris, I separated the player on the field fromr the player off the field U You know, my favorite player growing up was Gary Payton And but when I was younger, you know, high school college I just all I cared about was the player when I got older and You heard things about him behind the scenes and how he was You know, would I allow that to taint my view of them No because I just said I didn't I'm not watching him or Russell Wilson. becausecause what they do off the field or off the court. or what they say or what they do. I don't mean this to sound cold or catalyst, but they're They're just players to me you players on my favorite team And so I Yeahah, I recognize all the things that he did that was not authentic and And he was a goober and he he'd have seven different voices and all that He was unbelievable When the game was on in the line and they handed him the ball They're going to win the I was convinced they're going to win the game. I've used this on some other shows, but Like I'm not a big fan of Richard Sherman. I really I just I don't like Richard Sherman as like a person and how he carries himself. But that doesn't tange my view of him as a player. player is unbelievable It was he's the he's the best qunerback finest. When I watched when I was younger, I watching Dave Bowny's the best corarnerback I've seen put on a uniform. He will be a Mahalwic fame And he should be in the Hall of Fame. I think Russell Wilson deserves to be in the Hall of Fame I can point to many quarterbacks. you can and people can debate me until they're blue in the face about how the game is different and changeed. That's fine. Don't sit there for guys like Troy Akman and cite me Well, he's a winner And that's why he's in there Because he what? he had a haall of fame roster around him like never And he won three Super Bowls. He doesn't have the numbers to back up being a member of the Super Bowl club. notot even close. He's like forty seventh and passing touchdowns. He's eighty something in or excuse me, forty seven and passing ares. I think eighty something and and passing touchdowns. Russell Wilson is like top fifteen, sixteen in every Single category. got one Super Bowl title And again, I mean, yeah, can I twist my head a little bit and turn it and go you really should have to. Yeah whoo his leading wide receiver that day was? Look who his best wide receivers were his entire career in Seattle. Sorry, no disrespect. It's going to come across that way. but Doug Baldam's not a Hall of Famer. Jamaine Kris is not a Hall of Famer. Golden Tate's not a Hall of Famer The leading wide receiver in that New England game was Chris Matthews Chris Matthews was his number one wide receiver U What I I guess I get tired of. is from a lot of fans just can't get past the off the field stuff. the way he carered himself and not just worry about what he did on the field. And then I would take it a step further teammates. I think his teammates and I don't know what he did has done behind his scenes. I think some of his teammates Richard Truman being one of them have just been unbelievable with how they've treated him publicly I mean, just unbelievable. and P of that leads to this debate of whether or not He would get into the haall of fame. You know, I said it to I think it was Mitch earlier when, you know, this week on the show. I just said Yeah I think part of the reason why he's doing CBS I think it's to prepare his image a little bit amant in the public eye. So I mean, I don't know how others will feel about them and People can feel about them any way they want. I just The guy was so damn good. And I just again, they're all just finish it up. I just don't really care how he was behind the scenes and just take a moment and separate outside noise of rumors and things you've heard and just go with what you know and what you watched. and I mean, never had a losing season in Seattle. I remember the night he was drafted and there was a analyst on one of the sports radio shows that says G this guy Yeah, if this guy ever plays I'll eat this shoe. And I remember you know it was just like I mean, he's been fighting ever since he got to Seattle. He won the job. He inspired kids. I mean, inspired Seahawks nation. I mean, all he did was win. And I've been at King five for twenty six years and I would argue I didn't have a chance to cover Sewn Kemamp and Gary Peayton in their prime, but the most amazing highlights that I've ever put on King five sports came from Russell Wilson. the plays he made in every single game. This team was never out of it and it's just like And and I think, you know, the more I look on social media, there's a lot of people that believe like you and I do. And there's always going to be negatives out there that are going to just, you know, find their, you know, going to poke at people. But that's life for me, you know, I agree with you. He's the greatest quarterback as we speak in Seahawks history You' youve kind of persuaded me to believe he should be in the Hall of Fame as well. but I think everybody just say thank you. It was a fun ride. Look forward to hearing you have CBS. So I mean, that's that's ends a story for me. Yeah, and I would I would just say at the Hall of Fame. I mean again, I don't know what the criteria is with that group. I mean, there's there's certain people in there that I look and I go, I just don't I don't understand it. Like I don't understand why Mike Holmgood's not in there I don't understand why Tony Dungeie's in over there over him or Bill Cower. Again, I'll go back to that TV thing Listen, I think a big reason why Tony Dungeon and Bill Cower in the Hall of Fame is because they're on TV because they're in the spotlight. And I think their name it was there and I think they they were fresh in everyone's mind. And I think maybe this has something to do with. I don't know. That's why he's doing it I mean, I did catch the game last year. that he did the CBS and he was quite good He was he was he was good at it And so maybe this is just what he wants to do to stay involved Um, in the league maybe and then also maybe it doesn't hurt that it could help is haall of Fame changes, which is I'm sure is important to I would give you one last comp I mentioned Akman and I acknowledge listen, the game is different now playing quarterback. guysu stove for more yards now than they ever did and they throw the ball more. Yes without a doubt, that's got to be taken into consideration But he had a ten year run When he was a see out ten years. Y Steve Young had a run of seven years, won one title. One title And if you look at his his seven year great stretch It's not as good as Russell's ten year stretch. It's just not. Russell Wilson's the only quarterback in the history of the League who pass for over forty thousand yard and Rus for over five thousand. You're telling me a guy that has accomplished that is not going to be in the haall of pain Why how was that how how can how is that possible Like that to me is ridiculous. Why would you leave that guy out on the hall of fame? And it's that and it's not right there but I think is why he gets in because then then if you don't put him in then you're really setting the bar high and trying to get any corter vaccinated they they're not going to hit those numbers Yeah, and I just think that I think that, you know, if you touched on a little bit. I think he's changed the game a little bit. I mean You know, maybe Baker Mayfield comes along, you know, maybe Kyl Murray gets along and a listen. I know, he, my God, you're bringing up Kyler Murray. Yeah. I mean listen, Kyl Murray was You know didn't work in Arizona but Cal Merary was a The number one overall pick Right, I believe it was. Baker Mayfield the number one overall pick I think part of that because they were slightly billed. I think teams took a chance on them because of what Russell Wilson was able to accomplish. That's it. We'll move on from Russell Wilson. It's good talk. I like it. goodood conversation. I mean he was and I think when he comes back and whatever they do, the ceremony and the ring of honor and all that stuff. peopleeople are going to eat it up and they're going go they're going to go crazy. I know people are panicking over George Kirby's last four stars Well T of the runs he gave up the other day were a broken bad base hit up the middle. I mean, that's his stuff You know, analytically, the coaches are like, we're fine.s He's going to be fine. He's surrounded by the best pitching staff in baseball right now. The numbers the Bllpenss been throwing out with the return of Spire and Brat. They've been incredible. I mean, what's impressing me the most maybe out all of this though is the power surge we're seeing from JP. Crawford our leadoff Hinter I think there's a good chance Pucky moves to third base on this road trip because, you know, Colts obviously. do anything right now, but you need JP in that lineup. He gets on base. you need that leadoff hitter to get on base and and JP's been phenomenal, you know, during this run as well at the plate. So it's a it's a fun team. I think we're starting to see the team that we all kind of thought we'd see in spring training and and now you got the big dumper and Evereick. s going to be sold out there on Sunday, Puck and then he's going to be in Tacom on Tuesday. So the question is when he comes back, what do you do There's the question why We don't that's why we don't get paid the big bucks. I mean, I I think You know, they could Well I mean, they got a lot of choices to do. I would say I think I think you got to start and, you know, and kind of work backwards a little bit. I think first and foremost, I think they got to say And I think P Preida still has options I think they got to sayve it themselves Johnny Pereta earned a spot on this team. I think the answer to that is yes So if you if you work there and work backwards and say John Pade has earned a spot. Okay, now what do we do Well, then I think it comes to in The immediate, who do we trust more? as our right handed back Do we trust Mne to be Mitch Garver or Rob Refsider here Be they can't send Garver down Now, so could then DFA Rob Rf Snyder. It didn't work out. It happens. Whatever, maybe he needs a change of scenery You could keep three catchers for a bit But then you would obviously then have to make a decision You know, once Brendon Donovan comes back you know, what you're going to do And, you know, it's just there's a lot of there. But then, you know, Donovan comes back You know, whenateeverver that is, where do you what does he play? I mean, he's not going to play third No. I guess he could, but then what are you going to do JP because JP's hitting. So he's got to stay in the lineup. You don't really see youre not going to DH JP. I don't think. Yeah. and I would I would argue JP would be better at third than Donovan. I mean, the only place I can see Donovan maybe is going out to left field and then you got You know, Randy is a DH, but then you then you got Sony these these hot bats are trying to find a spot and Ray and Panzone and, you know, where do you throw them? So I mean, it's to have, right Don't you run the risk even though his defense like right now his defense, you know, his defense is not good out left field. But you run the risk with a Rose arerena He he wants to play every day in the field. I guarantee. Yeah You know, his interactions with the fans and all that. he wants to play And he's the spark plug out there, you know, yeah. Yeah and you don't know how guys react to that. It's not I think we always think as fans it's really easy just to go Oh just go hit Like I don't think that's just easy. I think Edgar talked to us talked about a lot. It was hard for him to make that transition, just to be a designated hitter. because you got to keep yourself occupied. Whereas when you're playing in the field, obviously you're keeping yourself occupied by going out there and and kind of taking your mind off, you know, whatever that last h bet B't screw mou with Randy Rossary. I'm not touching him Yeah He stay there long as he wants because that guy is producing. He's playing like a guy that's playing for contract and just keep that parerot above him. I you know, I think for Donovan I guess' super utility. I guess he be he becomes a DH You know, and then who's the odd man out? I mean, it's Now you're looking at Can Zone. I mean, Can Zone. gets to be the odd man out, I guess And and he's I think he's currently like seventh in games played right now. So I mean, I know a lot of that's in platoon, you know at bats and rolling in there, but Yeah, I know't it's like like we said, you've got to work back. It's a good problem to have. I think this team is definitely heading in the right direction and just the attitude in the club. I was, you know, over there a couple days and you could just kind of I mean winning is fun and I know that's in the easy word to say have fun, but this team is out there They are they are loose. They are on a mission right now and, you know, you begin with Detroit a team that's coming off of, you know, been an up and down year for the Tigers, but Hopefully you go there win the series. You got a Baltimore team that can't figure themselves out and a national team. So it should be a good road trip, but I don't think it matters who they're playing to be honest with you the puck. It just matters which Mariter team's going to show up.. I mean, I just think I think I think right now you said it earlier. and I agree. I think they' playing the team that we all thought they were going to be in the beginning of the year And I think it will ultimately come down to the them and the Yankees. those will be the two teams. they'll fight it out. Well the weather gets nice, they go outside And they'll find courts and the court are out there.
