Wh you think after fifteen years I'll be better at this shit though come on Well, come on, man. I don't know how many people think that, but if you think that, that's okay. Yeah, it's I don't know, I never I just never got the hang of it. You would think after a while I would get the hang of it, but Never did. N will. You've got other strengths and that's why and that's why we look What are What are they I'll send them and let me think and I'll send them to you later Okay Hell of a Kug fan I'm my hell of you are. You' a great, you're a great c. right. We got Cal returning last night, but that's not the headline news No. The headline news is the piggyback is back Yeah, that was a surprise, wasn't it? I thought maybe if the piggyback ever came back that it would be in the similar form it was the first time. No, it's everybody's jumping on. It's just mushrooming now. Everybody's on the piggy backack. Let me for the first question, only you and I because we're Seneical sons of bitches. Do you think it really was unanimous? There's no way it was unanimous. The way that Hollander portrayed that he wanted to make sure that the communication was there this time. And we all got together and we were all on board with it Yeah And you mean to tell me that all six of those guys sat there, nodded their head. Well they probably did because that's what you do with your bosses, you know, you just agree with bullshit even though you don't agree with it And you go home and you bitch to your dog and your wife and you go, God, these guys are Mickey Mouse, man. What the hell are they doing? And then when the reporters are in front of their cubicle, they're going to be going, Yeahah, you know, I think it's a good idea. It's going to make us fresher for playoffs and it's going to be good in the long run. So it's there's no way that all six of them agreed with it. I'll betch you Hancock's the only one that thought All right, I'm just happy to be here. so Hancock. Yeah. there's again, and I'm not I'm not we're not going to debate this. whatever. They want to come out and say it was unanimous fine.' whatever But we all know nothing in life is unanimous. I mean just nothing is. And I find it hard that all six agree with it. I think all six went along with it because they're like I don't know what else we're gonna to What do you think one out of six, two out of six if you had to bet on it. Yeah I mean just Gilbert and Kirby and all of them are just ultimate competitors. They want the ball every and they want it by themselves. And they saw how it was handled with those guys before But then I'm thinking about this morning. It was a huge topic on MLB central this morning. a huge top topic. I think it's a huge topic around baseball because I think people are looking at the mayors going Well, this is kind of crazy. I don't really know what they're doing This could really blow up in their face or this could really work But I think every other team in baseball rightight now is sitting back saying the same thing. I wish we had this problem becausecause no one else has this problem except for the low Sarro ararrows every other GM in front office would kill for the problem that D Poto, Holler and Dan Wilson have in front of them. Yeah, usually teams have what three good pitchers, maybe four And you hate it when your're fifth guy' out there and you're just praying that you win eight to seven U yeah, so I agree with you on that, but it's It's going to be interesting though. It worked out though. I think for the most part, can't we say that? I saw somebody commented on Jude's story or Divish's story if he's back saying that the ERA was one point six seven with Castillo and Miller when they piggybacked. So we could largely say that it was successful with those two guys. And so maybe we'll look back on this at the All Star break and go Damn. They're geniuses over there for coming up with this plan. see, I mean, I I have kind of liked both. I mean, Piggyback was kind of I would lukewarm to Piggyback and I was, you know, just because's it's odd for them. And I think the real I think the real reason why I was probably lukewarm on it, probably like a lot of people was the fact that they just they did such a terrible job of communicating to them It was just awful. It was awful how they did it And they they left them in the dark and it just was weird. They were confused. They didn't know they didn't have a plan and a strategy moving forward. I think that was kind of the thing for me that stood out The six man, I love the six man I'm sorry. I am I am so on board with this. I think it's a great idea. It's nothing new. This is what the Japan's been doing forever I mean, they do this in college. I mean, in college because they have a weak rest, but I like it. I think there's some great benefits to it. And I think the way that it played out on Tuesday night is exactly how it's supposed to go. It is the onus is on the starters to get through seven innings. M, can we get back to the gold standard of pitching in this frreickaking sport seven innings How many ges talk? Can we kickkingbking. they're not going to go seven innings though. I know, but that's what I'm saying. I was a fan of the six man Okay, well I was a fan of the six man rotation because I think there's some benefits to there's some great benefits to it. I don't buy into this. I've heard people try to claim that woo, it's affected Woo. No, it's not. hasn't W was terrible on the road in the beginning of the year That had nothing to do with the six man rotation. Yeah. The only thing, I mean going in if you're open minded about it, which I'm usually not, but I'm trying to be with this I'm opening my mind, puck to it. I just don't like Bryce Miller. your mind in front of me open I don't like Bryce Miller every six days. The way he's pitching, I want to see him every five days. But But hold on But the counter to that would be look how he's performed Okay, fair enough. So you're saying if he went every five days instead of every six, then wouldn't be as good. No, I'm not no, I'm not saying that. I have no idea But what I do know is that what they've done with him so far by doing the whole gu the piggyback thing with him and Castillo and then going every going to a six man It hasn't hurt him. It's He's been great He's your best pitcher right now Well, I'm interested to see what happens on Friday because they literally said last night, unless I'm mistaken, it was in the story that I read in the Seattle Times that Bryce Miller on Friday is going to start and he's going to go seventy five to eighty pitches. Is that a hard and fast thing I mean, do they have to just give the ball to Is Wilson going to go out there and say, Hey, man, I know you've only given up one hit and you struck out nine to this point. You're only at, you know seventy two pitches, but we talked about seventy five to eighty and so now it's time for me to give it to Louise. Is that Am I taking that too far? No they do that willill they be a little more flexible than that? And will Luise understand if he comes in in the eighth and ninth innings? I think you have to have a hardine that's the that is the rub with it though. You have to have a hard line stance with it Why? Because they need their work, they have to pit. If you're gonna do it, they have to pitch So if he gets to seventy five, ye, that's it despite how he's how he's pitching And that's the rub. You have to do it because you've got to get the other guys working. If you don't get the other guys working, then it's there's no point of doing it Okay, then what do you do? Let's say Miller goes six innings Friday night and he's he's great. He's seventy five pitches. time to give it to Louise. Did you give it to Louise for the seventh and eighth inning and then give it to Munos or do you give him seven, eight and nine Well, in theory, you'd give them seven eight nine. That's the whole point of it. Now again, it ising as hell. I mean, you know, whether you like it or don't like it, it's really, it's interesting and it could be groundbreaking in the sport. It really could be. But they've already done it. I mean, we've done it. We've seen it. We know what it is and it's the first time they did it It blew up in their face because they they got out of their roles, right? because they kept Castillo in there. They they didn't go to Muno's in the ninth inning, which he's comfortable in doing, right And then itle it blew up on them I'd like to know what the you mentioned that. I'd like to know what the incentives are in their contracts And if there's an innings pitched incentive in there, O how about piller for Castillo. there's got to be something or number of starts. What coursese In one of those piggyback games, you're the reliever Well wins. I don't care what people. I don't care if the Dorks in their basement don't care about pitcher wins. But the guys that step on the rubber, you know, the athletes, the real people that play the game. they care about wins They do They do That's important to them So yeah, o do you who do you pair with whom of the four. Did I say that right? I went to the Edward R Murrow School of Communication. Who do you pair with whom? Is that proper to add the M on who at that point? I think so. Yeah, I think so too. I'm not doubble outg sure though. It's funny. I asked Davish this morning that very same question. What do you do? you match it up by how they've been taking turns in the rotation? It definitely seems like they'll keep Miller Castillo together Then who is is it? Gilbert and Kirby orr Gilbert and Woo, Kirby and Woo hand I don't know. I don't just you just throw darts just got to go because if you had some leies in your rotation, then you could go, well, this makes sense to go righty leftfty. It'll screw up the other manager who's trying to do their platoon bullshit against us too. It's just a wild thing. it is I mean, they are And I really do think they're just throwing stuff against the wall because they're just pushing it down the road until something happens. either maybe they trade one of them or one of them gets hurt and then they can be like, all right, now we're good, go back to fine. but And then, you know, you still got Kate Anderson and Sloan too down down do, but I don't think I mean I an eight man piggyback Yeah, let's go can. I'll be interested to see when they bring them up Maybe it's after the deadline Davish seems to think it's going to be sometime after the deadline. If you go back that everyone wants to site David Price, And o way, David Price was called up in September So he made like four or five starts in September, then he wentin into the postseason where they turned him into that lethal two, three any a guy If you want to use that as a reference point, reference point, that's what they did with the price. Davish seems to think that they'll do it. they're going to bring him up before September If you had to guess who's the one we talked about the one that's the most okay with it, probably I know who's Wh's the least excited about this It's the, I think it's the simplest, easiest decision and choice in America George Kirby. George Furious Kirby There is no way You cannot convince me Hollander and Dapota with a straight face that George Kirby sat in that meeting' like yeah, I'm on board You know what? shit, wh whatever youTube dorks have come up with, hey, okay with me No way That's no way. Right? You just called Tonto a Dork, by the way It's disrespectful to Tonto. No, that's right. whichich one's Tonto again? Oh Tonto under. Yeah no. I like Jerry's the Lone Ranger. That's right. That's right. T Jerry Jerry's the smoothest of the two. We haven't We haven't used that one. We haven't used that one there there in a while. Well, they got off to a great start. It was great to see Calb back. We haven't got to the game. I mean, there's so much stuff that's happened like off the field with them that the game almost seems Secondary, but all the injuries too. Well the injuries and we'll get to that in a quick second because I'd like to know what this medical does this did the medical staff go to like school? didid they get training It seems like we got a lot of injuries all the time, Do it not? Can we bring back the real sexy trainer that we had that we got rid of? What was her name Loreainna Mart, canan we bring her back That was a fiasco though, wasn't it? Yeah, but I'd like think she was kind of hot though. let's bring her back At least at least they could be injured and have all these injuries and really maybe they don't know what they're doing, but at least we could be like,, she's kind of good looking. What do you think Rick Griffin's thinking I mean, that was kind of weird the way he had he exited Yeah stage left. I don't remember all these injuries when old Rick was there I tell you that. what I do remember about Rick is I used he used to run the bigger dance pool inside the clubhouse. so I'd have to go down there with all the brackets for Mitch's bigger dance and hand them out to Rick Rick And then Rick would be the one that would divvy him up with all the players Hey, Rick was cool, man. Rick was really cool to deal with. The Rick was The guy I always had problems with was Frank Fertada with the Sonics guys he had Was he a team guy? Jesus, he was a grouch. Well, Fritado took himself a little too seriously Oh my go But Rick Griffin? Yeah, I didn't like it when Rick Griffin got or whatever they all happened to him. That was was he was he was kind of pushed out the door like Yeah Like like somebody in the PR department was. Yes Yes. Yeah.y you want you want to go over that at all? I don't really want to get into that right now. If we can avoid that, we can just we can move on. would I think there's listeners that might be interested in hearing that story, but go ahead and move on. Very very, very few. JP at third base Okay One play that he made Really seriously. We were watching that going and Stevie Mike and I were like, you know, that wasn't a routine play that he made there. It was a short hop that he handled cleanly that little lob throw over there to first base. That was a nice play. It's fine. And then he had the foul territory one of then whatever. Yeahah. So Big, you know, big move for him transition, but he look good Cal look great. greatreat to see Cal back great base running by Emerson to get the the third run to. God he's fast He is passed. Okay. now wait a minute, you skipped over something though because you wanted you didn't want JP back in the lead offff spot. I did not. Yeah, still don't. So your thoughts I still don't want him back in the leadadoff spine. That's okay. He had had a very good game, but I would I would have kept Cole Young as the leadoff hitter R right Fair enough. I think he's a better h what's it going take? If you're cult Eston, are you kind of going, hey, I know I'm twenty and you know, I know I'm new around here, but Why do I continue to hit eight and nine in this lineup? Yeah, maybe slowly but sh. You he looks at Rh Sneider and goes, Yeah, you know, I I gott to tip my cap to him and I can see why he's hitting fifth tonight because of all the experience that he's had against Lies or whatever. Yeah. Rob Rob Very interesting See, I don't think the conversation really and because everyone wants to make it about R Snyder and Creda. Yeah. I think it's parta in Garver. I would have kept parta over Garver Garver' nothing. What what is look at Gar if you want to look right now. Do a compare and contrast to Garver's numbers and Rf Snidder's numbers The same Are they that similar? Yeah. Barba's a little bit better though, is a little I mean, okay, I'll get it for you. a little better But I mean, not not to a point where you're like, o, wow. Okaykay, Rob Rf Snyder slash lines one hundred forty four two sixteen two forty four. OPS of four sixty. Garver, where is Garver at? Mitch Garvers slash lines two hundred Three twenty seven, three twenty two, six forty nine Well, six hundred forty nine is a hell a lot better than something in the four hundreds. Yeah, you're I mean, sure. But no, I mean, Stevie last night I was talking about he's like, Oh Godd dad, I'd be pissed if I'm parta Be if you're preay at it, you're kind of going What's the point? I was pretty damn good, I think in a fill in role. Well, I get the argument that I would I sucked at ABS challenges, but other than that He outplayed Garver It's just what the it's the experience of Garver that they wanted to go with. Yeah but why why Wh the experience? I just think if this guy is going there's a lot of people that think that he'll be the catcher, the backup catcher next year. If he's the backup catcher next year, just do it now. Are we arere we keeping Garver because he's cow's buddy I think so. Well, then that's just a terrible way to and it's not a it's not a salary deal with him but R. It's clearly a salary deal. Who's a better hitter for P minimum. he'd be off the team now Wh who's a better hitter. We all agree Pareade is a better hitter than Garver and R Nnighter. cororrect Par still be on the team. And I know he's on I don't give me the options thing. I I just so tired of hearing about options I get it. He's got options. He's a better player He should be catching and he should be the backup catcher Mitch Garver listen Mitch they didn't have Mitch Garver in their plans, but then they got that what whoever the guy they had in the offseason they got that they just ate the million dollars because he couldn't do anything and then they got Garver. I mean, the only thing I can see why they're doing with Rsteiner one they've committed money to him. He does give them position of versatility with positions because he can move I'm just saying Garver and Prea can't play anywhere else That's that's the only thing I can think of defend Yes, but how much I mean, how long did they go with, you know, AJ Pollock and Who is the shitty second baseman? they guy who was so shitty second baseman? Well didn't go. Goldton Bone. I mean And then who else am I forgetting Oh, I don't even H Solono. Solono I li like salon How long did they go with those guys? They didn't go this long, did they U We're halfway through the season Yeah, they went for a while. Yeah, a while a long time. I guess, but it's got to be the six million they're paying R Sner Be minimum, you wouldn't be here Let's move on to the let's move on. Let's move on from baseball, We covered the Mers. Let's go the World Cup. Are you have youve been watching it all? has it caught your attention? in the least No, it hasn't. And the main reason is is that I didn't have any money in my Draft Kings account until this morning. And so now I'm going to start wagering on it, which will heighten my interest in what's going on with it. I did find it interesting that you see what the get in price is for that USA Australia match? twenty thousand two hundred Yeah That I I don't know, isn't that the get in price for a Super Bowl U it's pretty close. Yeah. Yeah. prettyret damn close tells you, I'm in the minority when it comes to interest in the World Cup. I know Well I mean, listen, popular game in the world. Yeah. I think it's fantastic and I'm looking forward to that. I'll watch that match on Friday. It's going to be great. It's the cr It's going to be so electric on Friday, US Australia twelve o'clock. I mean, it just if you can't get in, even just go downtown I'm telling you, I don't you haven't been up here for it. Downtown looks fabulous. I mean That's cool. It just looks so great. It's what If we just dedicated time and effort all the time, we treat it every day like it was the World Cup. and cleaned it up and did all the things that we should do and make it look nice, it would be great The waterfront, you know, I don't know if you've been to the waterfront recently and seen what they did obviously with the Viduct and the tunnel and all that they fixed up Mrtle Edwards Park too. I mean, isn't that a lot nice? they' put the Hobos in a rowboat and shipped them off. Yeah, for sure. They But the waterfront looks great with the wheel and people are walking down the boardwalk and you know, and people flying by and line bikes hitting people. I mean, it's just great It's sunny out. It's beautiful. They got watchatch parties down there. It's packed all the time. Friday is going to be nuts. and then Pioner Square I just like a lot of Satetlites. I don't know if you've lived here your whole life like like you and I or well, no, you're out now. you abandoned us. But I have a soft spot in my Heartf Pioner Square. I love Pioneer Square. I love the history behind it. I love everything about it. To me, it's one of the crown jewels of this city, this region. if we just decided to put our feet down, say hands on. we're going to make this great because it has the it's so great. It's so much history in there. And they've got stuff that's closed down. People are walking around everywhere h We went down there the other night. It's just beautiful. It's just so awesome what they've done. And and I'm just proud of our city. Our city is putting, you know, show it's great. Well, and Puck, come on. Seattle in the summime. It's the best How do you beat Seattle in the summerime? No one can you can I'm tell you, there's not another city In this country I mean, I g some European cities. There's not another place in this country that can compete with Seattle when it's sunny, When you're driving around, I was driving over I ninety the other day. And I look to the south, there's Mount Rainier out. I look to the north, there's Mount Baker and I'm surrounded and I'm going over a lake and I'm like,s there's nothing like it There's no no el nobody else has guys This huge lake You got Elliot Bay, the huge saltwater, the views The space needle It's fantastic. It's just showing there's no humidity in the summer like there is elsewhere in the country. Yeah. I'm just telling you, it's it's showing off right now and it's it's great. Well, here's what I'm going to get I'm going to get your interest in the World Cup. Okay Okay, I'm going to get your interest right now. U you should start rooting for the for for the Scots Scotland is having the time of their life over here in America, by the way I think the Scots have the time of their life no matter where they are. They have drank Boston dry Jim. G read the Boston Gobe. They call themselves the Tartan Army. Sam Adams said it's Boston tap room of ran out of Boston loager this weekend They say they drink four times as much lger as it normally sells during a typical four day stretch this time of year The Hennnessy's bar down in downtown Boston tells the globe that it tripled. The Scots tripled at St. Patrick's D sales and sold out of beer alogether on Sunday night. Qote Noell Sumers, the who runs Hennessse, said, quote, We've been here for thirty years. We've never seen anything like it Federal wine and Spirits in the financial district told the gllobe. It's sold out of Budwiser and Corona this weekend and their fridge door broke from being opened and closed so many times. And then you know, before you let me go, I'm looking forward to Friday's show and I hope everyone else is too because I think the host of the show might be sent out on a barge. his take yesterday about Oh his Prd. Oh no, why am I gonna to be sent out to a barge? Why? Well Well, I don't know. a lot of people would like to send you out on a barge for your tepid take on Christ Pring a Super Bowl Ris. So I'm so offended by all those people that are seend all such mean text and tweets to me Oh my Godd, you're a shitty fan, Puck., sorry. All those people can go in the barge too. those losers that want to be like Chris Pratt and buy a Super Bowl ring they didn't earn, go ahead. That video is going viral. That video is great. Wonderful. I like how this really successful person from our hometown, you know, he's like netted billions worldwide for his dies. you're calling him a douche bag. I love that. Well I said dou and doue bag. You wantna see Without a doubt, the most heartbreaking there. Hey that's not douchy. That's not your own getting a little feel. All right, you want to see the most heartbreaking loss in high school baseball state championship game history I guess, C you were short leades at the bases Gaskill push this in the air. could stay in play. Who wants it? Quin and say Rinna Guins its first state baseball championship, but hold on Hold on. First base upire said Quin did not have the ball long enough. He's signaling sae. The fireworks are going off, but this game is not over. I do not believe H' this one h. It is deep. It is God. it's out of here. This will be foul. I don't know if you want to catch that one. he did tagaking it third. Here's the throw Bogan state Championship. That is the most heartbreaking fashion I've ever seen. So the what the video you saw in the very beginning right when it played There I'm so of it Okay, so he caught the catcher catches the ball in foul territory. The umpire rules that when he caught it Didn't hold ono it enough a long enough time that when he caught it, he immediately just kind of threw it to the side. to celebrate. Wow. I don't know if I've ever seen that before. So when he caught you can see in the video he catches it but immediately when he catches it, he kind of throws it to the side because he made the out and it's Game over Did he for didid he throw it from the glove or did he th Put his hand in there and throw it aside. Short leads at the bases Gaskll push this in the air. could stay in play. Who wants it? Quin it's say Runa. Quins it's first K kindind of hard to tell. lookooks like he takes it to his hand throws it away. I don't know. it's hard to tell If he took it to his hand Yeah that means he really did catch it. I think it's terrible. I think It's awful. I think they got robbed and shame on that umpire for doing that He clearly made the catch. There's no he was just so over overly excited and he didn't hold onto it long enough I't know what I'll be honest. I don't know technically what the rule is How long does he have to hold it? Do he have to go down with possession? Are we going NFL? But then for them then he giveiv they give up the tying home run and then the poor right fielder should not have caught that ball. He catches it in foul territory Yeah because there was a runner at third who tags up and scores the winning run. I mean just brutal God. It's hard, you know, that right fielder, though, it's hard to be thinking on the flly. I know. I know. it's hard. Yeah. there' high school kid. whereere was that Minnesota Uh it's I think Illinois Illinois Did it did the other coach did the losing coach protest I don't know That's sad. Do a deep destad. I guess I'm mildly disappointed in you that when I looked at all these videos on social media of you English fans taking over Dallas Fort Worth that I don't see you in there. Yes, not I have got a bit of fear of missing out, I must admit not being out there for the World Cup. but The tickets So to go to the game which is kicking off in what two and a half hours, England playing Croatia cost me and I'm in the England club, travel clubs. I get discountsed tickets for that U It would cost me as much as it cost me to go to the European Championship final two years ago And I've been to many, many England games in the group stages and they are pretty awful most of the time, pook. So Go all the way to Dallas as fun as that would be to get to Jerry Wor and watching them play a tepid Nil Nil or a one one. I'm going to stay here and watch it. And then if they get to the semifinal of the final someone dangles a ticket that's reasonably priced. I might squeeze my away over there, but U not this time. You Well, it's been cool. And our city is I don know, it's beautiful. It's really cool to be in a city that's hosting it and to see all the fans that are here and it's just been great. It's been fun to kind of watch it, be a part of it in your backyard All right the Seahks. they've wrapped up a little bit of their off season, right? They'll to be back out of training camp later this summer, but the OTAs are over. mini camps over As you kind of sit back and evaluate where these guys are after Mini campa, give me some thoughts that come to mind for you I think everything's kind of moving along, isn't it? And they're drama free, which is, I think one of the hallmarks of this team. It is completely drama free. It is refreshing to an extent. I mean, if you actually want things to write about and get stuck into, there's not a great deal at the minute. but that's that's in it's just you have to say, well done to Mike McDonald for creating this atmosphere and this culture where Everybody seems connected, everybody seems on board. I have to say, Puck, I was watching the the ring ceremony and it all seemed very measured and very restrained and okay, we're going to have this. We're going to have a good night probably going to get drunk and then going to wake up the next day get back to work. So I think that's really good. and They're going to have a heck of a challenge, aren't they? you know, next season with the Rams in the division, but I think that they're just such they're probably the most professional team in the NFL if that makes sense Wh, are we seaks or the Rams Ss. Yeah. I It's been great. I love what the Rams have done. I mean, I think you take a step back and go, well, well done. I mean You were play or two away from winning the NFC championship And getting back to the Super Bowl, which you would have done the same thing. I think we've talked about this before. and you didn't you decided to not just sit back and say, Ohh we're running back again.'ll improve our team. We got to get better. because our goal is to win a championship. I love when teams are aggressive like this And what they did with getting Jayen Watson and then Trent McDuffy and then obviously the headlineer with Miles Garrett. I love the challenge of it. I think it's great. I think makes the division awesome and I can't wait to see these two teams go at it. s It's going to be a phenomenal couple of games at these two and maybe maybe more than two next year Can I make a plea though, and this is kind of full on Deafars. I did this a few weeks ago and I think it needs to be done again. The Rams are living rent free in too many the heads of C Orks fans. So I think in the last twenty four hours, Jared Verse has done an interview. He's now obviously with the Browns. He was part of the trade that saw Miles Garrett go to LA. And his b feically was asked, haveave you got a message? I think it was on a podcast He was asked what his message was to the Rams on his departure and he said, Go and win the division and more than anything beat the F in Se orrcs is what he said And people how dare Jared Verse say this? You can't be triggered by this stuff. If you want to be a good team If you want to be a championship team, this comes with the territory. likeike if you are going to be, if you want to be up at the top And you want to have teams really hate you because you are the best. you've won the Super bowl, you've got to the Super bowl instead of the Rams. You're going to have to expect a bit of this. I would much rather have Jared Vst doing interviews and talking this way than nobody caring who the Seuks are. mean lookook when Paul Mac Wilson said that that the Rams had to go through the Cardinals a couple of weeks ago and everybody laughed the whole world was laughing at him because nobody takes the cardinals seriously Here, you've got Jarred Vverse basically saying You've got to go and beat the seaks, you've got to go through them. Don't be triggered by it. See it as a huge sign of respect that you get talked about in this way. I really think we've just got to accept the Rams have had an amazing off season. They've brought in some the best player in the NFL arguably, they're going to be difficult to beat. Let's see how we get on against them this year. Okay, so as we get into the summer, I think the one thing that will linger right now will be just a Devin Witherspoon. When when do you think this gets wrapped up Well, it's probably going to come down to the agents deciding who gets to earn the more money. Is it going to be Christian Gonzalees orr is it going to be Dev Witherspoon? they have the same agent And that, I think is probably the roadblock here becausecause I can't imagine the plate juggling that's going to have to go on from the agents to say Hey, Christian, sign this contract U What do you mean? Devin Witherspoon's going to work more than me if I do this. You know, there's got to be like a political game being played. with the agent here one to get the best deal for both players and play them off against each other with the two teams negotiating, but two, who is going to end up coming out on top? Who's going to get paid even if it's a million dollars more? Who is going to get that? So what I would expect is this is my prediction how it's going to go down Cos Gonzalez was a later pick in the first round. It was like a mid first round pick and Devin Withersbon was was a high pick. Gonzalez will get them first. and with a spoon as the Super Bowl Champion who has taken earlier will then get done second But I don't think anything's going to get done until you hear news of that Christian Gonzalez contract. That's my prediction. It could be a complete reverse I think that's just how it's going to go that Gonzallees will sign and then withitherspoon will sign shortly after. As we sit here right in June, is there anything that they that you would have liked to see them do they haven't done yet Yeah, trade for Max Crosby Youo and I we do love ourselves to Max Crosby. I think that's the only thing is when I look at this team and I think, okay, so Let's just take the Rams as another example again When you played the Rams, they had your number defensively. They were the only team that M McDonald really didn't have an answ for in those last two games. and they moved up and down the field, scored a ton of points, stafford through for like five hundred yards in both games And you didn't get any pressure on him at all. And what how you won those two games was the offense Sam Donnald in the in late in the game in the first game at Loomingfield and in the second one Sam Donald four quarters of just pure perfection really to to win that football game. Now If they play each other and it's that way again, is Sam Donald going to have four quarters of pure perfection when that Miles Garrett guy' breathing down his neck on one side I don't know about that. So if they are able to move the ball on you and now have an X factor weapon who can stop you moving the ball as well, that's not a good combination. So I think that the way the SOwks counter punch has to be for them to to create more pressure on the quarterback on Matthew Stafford And I'm just not sure that swapping Dante foundoua for Boya Mafe is going to lead to better results there. So it's going to come down to one of two things, Puck. It's going to come down to Can you be more creative schematically to ask a few more questions in McVeigh and Stafford H Is something going to happen before the trade deadline? And this is I streamed about this on Sunday This is the good news for the Sea Ors. You don't play the Rams until the end of the year. So the trade deadline is before you play the Rams. So if you get to the trade deadline and you think we still need something on the pass rush. And let's say a Max Crosby suddenly becomes available before that trade deadline You can go and acquire him so that when you go into those two RAMs games, you've got your own expactor weapon off the edge All right, let's give some off season predictions here as we gear up and we're not going to hold you to this only if you get it right. All right. does does our quarterback have a better year? Does Sam Darnd have a better year? doeses he eclipse what he did a year ago and follow that up I don't think so no And that's not to be negative about Sam Dardold. I don't think he's going to be awful But I just think Clint Kubiak is a really good offensive coordinator and I think that losing him is the main thing. I doesn't mean that like I say, I doesn't mean that Sam Donalds going be really bad. It may be that the running game is better and therefore you don't we need Sam Donald to to do as much. I know his numbers weren't Unbelievable anyway last year in terms of pure touchdowns and inceptions, it's not like he had a forty ten season or anything like that But I think He may be at a similar range. mayaybe slightly weaker because of the loss of Kubiak and perhaps a greater emphasis on the run. I mean, they did just spend a first round pick on a rb back. Speaking of running backs, who's the team's leading rusher Judarian Prize I think it' sharing price. You don't typically spend a first round pick on a running back and then have them spelling all the time and as we sit here today on june sevententh, Zach Charbonet is still it's still to be determined when he's going to be back. If SZach Chambonay was on the field now sprintcing up and down looking at a million dollars himself I would perhaps think that maybe the more of experienced runner would get The opportunity to leave this thing, but If he's going to be like on the PUP list or if he's going to come into his own six, five, six weeks into the season, then I think that the first Ticking the draft that you had He's going to get More than enough opportunity to be the lead dog in that race. Okay yes or no to this one. actually true or false. AJ Barner will be the second leading wide receiver on the team. I am going to go false. Who do you think will be I think it'll probably be If I had to guess, I think it'll probably be up ten. Oh Tory Horde if you can stay healthy. I think I think what will hurt AJ Barner actually, this is why the real reason I think this is that I think they're going they're going to feel like they need to get Elijah Royo involved And it's not that AJ Barn is suddenly going to be like the number two titend or anything. that's what I'm arguing. It's more a case of they will give Arooyo a bit more in the way of the passing game. He will be targeted a bit more and perhaps some of if you just had one star tight end, like Rock Bowers in Vegas, he's going to get all of the attention isn't he Whereas I think's probably going to be shared out a little bit more between Barn of the Production and Arooyo So I think they might just cap each other a little bit and that'll mean that one of the receivers will end up being the second to JSM. All right, Rokie season had a half a sack. He bounces back bounces back. He follows that up sophomore year with seven. does Byron Murphy get to double digits I'm going to say no Um Beause I don't know how you feel I mean you tell me, Pg, did you feel I mean, like Byron Murphy had a good season and and terrific against the run But did you ever really feel like you felt him as a pass rush threat? Like you kind of like sneakily got up to that number of sacks I'm not sure that he's ever going to be truly dynamic pass Russia. I think he is a complete defensive tackle who does everything very, very well I don't know if he's going to be a sort of a top top pass rusher and that And that to means that He may have a similar season and that might be who he is. and that's that's how Cry Jarret was, you never really kind of thought you were watching Ard Donald out there, but he would get eight to ten sacks and I think that's probably where Br Murph is going to be. but I think probably forge a shortter ten That's fair. All right, last thing for you. give me a thought or two on Brendan Soresby Oh, that's interesting What of prospect do you think he'll be in the NFL? I have seen highlights. I'ven' never watched them at all. so I don't know. I was watching him last night. This's great timing because I didn't know you were going to ask this. So I was watching you want to read through the notes that I made. Yes, I would love for you. So there's not too many of them I still, I mean, I've got I've actually got on the tab here Brendon Ssby versus Kansas to watch and I was going to stick that on if the England game goes well. and I'm not sort of shouting at the wife about how bad they were after the game This was sorry, So deep throws don't always have the ideal touch. acccuracy can be wayward. It doesn't have a big frame or throw with tremendous bass felt like the quick game and the RPO was his best situation at Cincinnati, which is a bit of a cheap code for quarterbacks. And short intermediate throwers were his best. But it was mainly all quick hit, get the ball out quickly stuff runs into big hits trying too hard to create with his legs. He's not like he's mobile but and if you watch highlights, he does make plays his legs. but if you actually just watch the complete games, he gets hammered a lot as well. he's not going be able to do that in the next level It felt like watching like Jackson Dart was quite reckless last season. it felt a little like you watching that did not see enough evidence of layered throws, accuracy into tight windows or fitting plays into difficult spots surprisingly throws with some loft but still doesn't have a great catchable deep ball. It was strange because You know, the Monball thing? like he's quite good at that. likeike he can throw it fifty five yards and it hangs in the air it didn't really give his receivers the best chance to make a play. like it just kind of hung up there and then it was almost like the last sort of third of the throw was a bit like a dying duck that was just kind of coming out of the sky and it often as the separation from the receiver came The ball died and then it almost ended up being a bit underthrown and he did make some plays down field, but I found that a lot of the plays down field he was making were often when receivers were wide open like either been schemed open or they just got open and he kind of Now you or I probably could have just lofted the ball out there Probably not, but you know, you get my point. It's not it was aard. And then some deep throws are often a little underthrown even though we can shook you fifty yards I came away sort of expecting more if I'm honest. and when you throw in the the fact that I mean, the guy, I mean look, I like I like a bet. U you like a bet, you know, it's it's u I like a, you know, Ive I've got about seven bets on the go right now about the World Cup. So u You know, I don't mind.'s not it's not an issue for me. and people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones. but he He seems to have enjoyed ThereQ quite a lot of betting over there's just things you can' and can't do. I mean, you're still, I don't know what the rules over there in the BBC are, but over here in the FCC, when I was in radio, there's just certain things you can't plug o or pay oil. You just can't do it. I can't plug a product that is not advertising for that radio station. That's a rule. You get caught, it's a fine and you can get fired for it And everybody knows that. Now here, I can plug anything because there are no rules on here. I can do whatever I want. But there are rules. He violated a rule. It's just so simple. I'm just surprised it got to this point. It was pretty black and white what he did. It's wrong. and canan't do it. At any level you can't bet when you're playing And look that sort of the bigger point I'm making with him is it's not it's not that I have a massive issue like it's not in this scheme of like what NFL or football players can do wrong. That's hardly the worst thing in the world Is it having a bet on Indiana? when you're not anywhere close to playing it. But the point is is like you say You're not supposed to do it. And of all the positions in the NFL, like the quarterback is the one where They have to be the person who you're never going to have to worry about anything off the field. They're going to come in. They're going to be addicted to football. They're going to lead the team and they're going to do all this stuff and you don't want any drama and you're kind of looking at this now and going There's quite a lot of potential there, it would seem for some drama. And I don't know. if you're like the cardinals or the jets, people going, hey, they could get him for a second round pick, well, that's fine. I'm not sure. And then what does the NFL do? Does the NFL like sanction him in any way or is there going to be any who knows what's going to happen there I personally would just see this out. but the more I've watched this quarterback class that's coming up pook And we've got a whole season college football to go. So it's too early for me to be s of making any big claim here. I have to say, I think the media are doing the fans a disservice again by talking about this being an unbelievable quarterback class.. There are players with potential That is it right now. There is no sort of defeinitive That's a great, great player to look forward to All right, let's get more into that later in the summer. Let's do this more often. You're the best. ennjoy your break. kids probably out. ennjoy the game. hopefully you guys can can pull out of victory. Drink Georgetown Tavern beer, your new locally brewed domestic style logger. four point two percent alcohol, cheap and good local Hi, I'm Beau with All AS Ccrete coatings. Garages are my favorite part of the house. I chose to partner with PintTech because they give me the proper tools and support to do my job right. My favorite part of doing the garages and any flake system is the transformation that happens on one day It's interesting in a game that was, you know, kind of a marin's win You know, Dan Wilson talked about that and Gilbert's back and Cal's back and all that You know, the game itself is overshadowed by everything that happened in the pre game. is overshadowed by everything else kind of surrounding it, right? about the decision to go to everyone's going to do the piggy bank I think some roster moves, the injury news all of it. it's just it's it's just fascinating that you It is one of their most clean games they've ever had, but as we look back to everything surrounding the team right now, there's so many other fascinating storylines. Yeah Bri this they want to g They won a game with Miles Masterbononey starting at first base. JP Crawford playing his first ever game in America's uniform at third base. You had Robiz and left and Canzone and right, you know, and they won a game. You know, Rob Rusner was batting fifth Like he sack buned in the second inning because he's fighting it. You know, like they want a game against a decent team in that situation. And then you go back over the course of a season and people love to point out all the times where they lost a game they should have won. Well, this is probably a game they should have lost And they won because, you know, some of their main guys delivered All right, you brought it up the I mean, we're being told it was unanimous decision. I don't know, none of us are that meeting. I don't know if it's unanimous or not. It's hard to get anybody to agree unanimously on anything anymore. So' we'll just take their word for it. But again, they at least they had all these conversations about here here here all the strategies strategies that we want to do All the options that we have moving forward that we think best uses all of your guys' skills set. So they came up with this We thought it was over, but it's back We did the piggyback then we went six man. now six man is out. We're going back to this piggyback, but it's a piggyback that now involves everyone. And the only the only piggyback situation we know and how many times can to say piggyback, I guess is going to be the one, the first one, which involves Miller and Castile They've yet to announce what's the plan after that They what is do you have any sense of of who the other Duoos are going to be Who's riding and who's carrying in the piggyback, you know, like I don't know. Nobody really knows. I I it just doesn't sound good. I know I and Being me, I asked Dan Wilson in that order one time. I was like, well, so who's the rider and who's the carrier in this piggyback, know? And he just looked at me like I'm the worst human being on the planet So I don't know, like I don't know the exact like details of it. You know, Adam was Adam and Kramer were talking to Hollander for quite a while about the intricacies of it all. but we didn't get the feel, but my guess is is that like after they do this, then Louise gets a start and maybe it's Logan Gilbert or somebody who jumps on and comes in in a relief role. I don't know who who gets what on you know, you look at the off days and try and count it out when that might occur because that's what they're trying to do is avoid anybody getting six days of rest. They don't want that. So and maybe that's something that helps. Like look The one thing is like Th theseese guys, you know, your first four guys have made every start, you know, every turn this season. And so Getting them may be a little bit of a breather or reset You know, Brian who hasn't exactly been sharp. George Kirby has been kind of off and on the last couple outings. Maybe this helps them. whoo knows. But I think, you know, is it the best I mean, in an ideal world? You know, you have five, somebody goes to bullp in. They're just not really ready to commit to that And you know, get it to the All Star break, then you can reslot, you can reset and then reassess But I mean, like Maybe this will help them. Maybe it won't. But you know, this is what they're going to do and they've got buy in from the players. So that's ninety percent of it Yeah, All right. so I mean you have to almost match it up with their, you know, kind of where they slot in the rotation, don't you So don't you have, I mean, I don't know how they're going to do this. you go And you go Kirby and Gilbert Woo and Hancoar. I mean, I don't know. it's fascinating. I mean, they're doing something that's never been done before in baseball And again I like guys to go to take a different path, right And arere trying to get creative. I mean, they they have they've got a problem. but we all can acknowledge this. They've got a problem an embarrassment of riches that every single team in baseball would love to have There's so many other teams in baseball that would love to have this problem right now of whether or not you have to do a six man rotation or a piggyback I mean, I mean I'm not envious of how they're trying to do this with all these guys No, it's not simple And how many other organizations would have Kate Anderson already up? They probably would have forced him up, you know, to the big leagues, you know, even the mayers have They can be patient with him. sameame with Ryan Sloan, you know, set up set it up so that they can be available late in the season when you need them most when you, you know, maybe guys are drag and you have two young kids that you can go to that either as relievers or starters they can help you out So I think You know, they're playing the long game, you know, I remember all the little saying Scott Service used to have, discipline is the shortcut, you know, and all these different things. and Jerry's favorite was the thirty thousand foot, thirty thousand foot view. All those things like they're doing that. And the one thing is It's easy for fans or even the media to be reactionary to the moment to ten games or whatever, you know, the road trip But if you like if you really step back and say, hey, look You know, the Mariners are winning And they're still maintaining a place first place without having half the pieces and not really playing that well, but other than maybe a fifteen game stretch K of weather the storm until you get healthy. instead of remember like in years past where it's always Some crazy run in the second half where they have to go on this huge run and win twelve of fifteen or whatever to retake it and then kind of go. This is feels like more like, okay kind of tread and water until you can get one of those, but you're in a better position. You're not having to overtake anybody Now win the games in front of you, maintain the lead in the division. The division, you know, you can talk about the worldor sereries and all that stuff, but winning the division sets you up to win the worldorld Series and that's what you want. We saw how big of an influence it was last year for them And I mean, again, that's what you want. win the division and then go from there. The one bad thing is is like you think about it you know, the only the top two division winners get the little break, you know, that's that's the other deal. So they they do want to play a little bit better, but you know, the the American League is a fountain of mediocrity right now. so just weather it and then you can try and distance yourself, know whether it's by adding guys at the trade deadline from internally or externally, but just kind of weather it till the all star break and then you can come back. Maybe you assess your strategy and maybe you change some things up as you move forward. They got back in the first place. He brings a calmness to that team to that clubhouse. That has been missing And even when he has shown up, it's not the same because he's not playing. Now he's back He is the ultimate leader of a baseball team or any team And I don't know how much value you place on that. It's immeasurable to me how much value you place on what his leadership and what It means to have him back healthy and just be walking around and knowing that everybody on that team knows that he is playing.
