I can't do it We'll do it live. Okay We'll do it liine Do it live. I can I'll write it and we'll do it live Th thing sucks one and right. O'eill didn't see it at first. He's underneath it in front of the wall. He leaps and he takes away an extra base hit from Raleigh. Tyler O'Neil goes skyscraping at the right field fence to rob Raleigh of at least two bases. Mbe two more shot for the big rig, Harry Higgs Downwind shot to a very elevated green. Wow That is not going to stop in this ball. He may have forty fifty yards left for his third when you see where this one rolls out to. didnid't take long for our weelcome to Sinck moment All right, welcome into the Daily pun jp. is Thursday, june eighteenth. You're coming to me too fast. I didn't even get a chance to retweet did you even tweet out the Yes. It's there I'm telling you Twitter's doing that thing again that bothers me. What's what's's just this you can't like I can't explain it When you when you when you it's I can't articulate it. When you in the past, you used to be able to just upload the show and it comes the video comes up. Yes. the video' not coming up anymore. It's a link So then you got to go repost the link. It's just the dumbest thing in the world. Well Elon Musk's fault. I blame it on Elon. Maybe this is Twitter sharing an editorial or a commentary of what they think of your of your live stream. Yeah, I think they are. They're like stop it. End it today You know, I just I've got two problems with you right out of the game. Jesus two problems. Can we get fun stuff before we got problems? Well it is part of the fun stuff I guess it's the same problem. I don't what is your problem with Shinnacock. No, I'm going to get to it. I'll get to it First you start with Maryilyland Blue Crab, then you hit me with Shinacck. These are these are traditional theseese are great, great things. Oh my God. dont I don't even know the cock Hills. It has, I don't know Tell me how beautiful it is because that's all I hear how beautiful it is. It's perfect. Okay, it's perfect. It's doesn't look perfect on TV. It look literally muty. It doesn't look great. Literally, literally If you offered me right now, the chance to play the U S. open every year at Chinahck and not go anywhere else. I say yes. You're crazy. You're absolutely crazy. Wh You think that Shinacw Hills is better than Pebble Beach I think Chhinnacock is fantastic. I love Peble Beach. It was hyperbole. What I was doing was hyperbole, but I love Sinnacock You will be like one of the this is like a Seattle thing, right? This is like o, we don't like it on the east Cast. We don't like any of your East Cast course We don't like your crabs in the eastast This is like a sandwiches, your pizza all of it ud and I don't like your attitude here's the thing when Shitcock kills. Hold on. here's you don't like our pizza on the East cooast. Do you like joking. I love your pizza. loveo your pizza and I love your people and I love everything about it. I just I'm looking at it right now. They're doing a lot an aerial shot of the course As Do I need to change channels? I've got a commercial on. I'm on USA network. I don't know. mayaybe I'm be. It just looks flatten. It looks like a golf course. There's not doesn't look beautiful. There's not these great pictures and images and you come out to the west cooast and you see the mountains and the water and they're at Pbbble Beach Come on From a TV perspective. I'm not talking about the course and the setup and all that. I It was at Chambers Bay Chambers Bay looked a thousand times better than this court We can I don't know how long you want to spend on All of it. I want the whole show because Jim Duquet's not coming on today. I can guarantee that. All do Jim Duquets seg We can spend an hour And you can try to get me to say that it doesn't look nice or it doesn't play well or it's not a good stop for the US. Open You will never there's nothing you can say. Shinicock is like all time great. All time great. Why? Why is it? I keep hearing it's all time great. I want to know why because every time they go there every time There's a problem. There's a problem with every time. There's a problem with the course. There's a problem with the weather. The players hate it The greens don't do it. I mean, even today though, it's windy, it's rainy, it gets delayed because of the fog. I have been up since six AM this morning Well you always get up at six. That when you that's when you do your workout, the Levy workout. Tbody about the Levy twenty minute workout. I twenty minutes. I was up at six AM today. I have seen every shot I can watch and I think right now the golf course is playing Absolutely Perfect I mean, perfect. two under leads. There's Birdieies out there. There's a lot of catastrophes out there. You got to hit good shots. the winds blowing. It's I mean, I don't anybody who would complain about Chinnacock in the US. Open is not a true golf fan. They complain about it. The players complain about it f course They love anyt time you go to a US open and it's not happening this year, but most like I mean, the wind it'll get worse today. Like I don't know when it was. Was it eighteen or two thousand four. When you're out there with fire hoses spraying the course down, there's a problem with the cour And so no, that's not. seeee what you this is shortsighted. This is so this is like the Maryland crab com and it's short sighted. I'm going' I'm on the right side of history on that Maryland crab. you're not even close on that. You're short sighted because you're mixing problem that the players have with the course versus the problems the players have with the way the USGA handle the course. Those are two different things. The USGA has messed up withincock. They've let it dry out. they've let it get out of control. They made it too fast. That was not a Sin acock issue. Okay. I have a USGA issue. but then A real golf fan knows these things a fake prettender sitting in a Seattle studio, a Ballard studio just doesn'tt can't see this has its own face. This is why the majority of America doesn't like the East Coast elite. what you just said. Yeah It's very East Coast elite. You know we don't understand it out here. Yeah. You can't get it out of you. Oh No, you don't understand it. Other people in Seattle get it. H's the get it. Okay. Here's the question I have in the back Yes So it's the USGA's phault For every time they go there, it's the USGA's fault, rightight? No, I didn't say that. There was there hasn't been a problem every time they've gone there. The last two times. there's been a problem last's There's going to be a problem this time. Well, there's not You wait. There's no wait till there's not to be a problem. or wait til later this afternoon when there's a problem. If you ever got let me tell you something Well H I've never played Chhinacock. I've been to Chhinaccock. I've never played Chinnacock. But here's what I would tell you If you ever got an invitation You play Shinaka. And you teated up there and spent a day there you would come back saying That was one of the greatest days of my life, even including the birth of my two kids. I don't have a high standard. If somebody offered me free golf at inner Bay, I'd be like that's the greatest day of my life tellelling you. place is magical Well, you haven't even played it. How do you know? I've walked the golf course A couple of different occasions. I love that place It's on my bucket list. I haven't been able to check it off. just I got a buddy who said he was he had a chance to play there and that the member fee, the guest fee eight hundred and something doll. I believe that. Can you imagine? I believe that Okay If in the last two times, the USGA is to blame for what doing this? Yes. I'm just going I'll finish this up next because I'm very protective golf out here and I'm protective of what happened in twenty fifteen. Okay because we just sit there. Yes. and we it was the USGAs fault in fifteen They ruined it But yet Chambers doesn't get a second chance. can't possibly have a second chance. Okay. But your course is like this. hold on, let me finish. And I understand the I know everything of the history of this course. I know how old it is. It's the fifth oldest course. the clubhouse is conered. One of the original original five, right? Yeah The clubhouse is considered the greatest clubhouse off all golf courses. But I find it funny when we've got to talk about the clubhouse being so great rather than the golf course, but whatever. That's another point is they get a second third chance, fourth chance. I mean, you look at in the rotation, they got like five more. I mean, they're only going to play the U.S. open at like Four courses now. It's this It's Pebble. It's Oakmont, It's Marion and Pinehurst. That's it they're doing they're doing the RNA. So T me what it's my turn. Tell me what it's my turn to to just I'm I'm tired of these course. I'm tired of golf in the East Coast in the summer. Okay. here's proble here's your problem. You've got two I've got more than two. Okay, but here's your problem on this top taking one thing and one issue that you have and one offensive year, which I agree with you, by the way, for the most part on the Chambers' Bay deal. Okaykay? You're bitter You're mad, you're upset You're allowed to be They should get a second chance Although I will differ with you on it all being the USGA, the problem at Chambers. Chambers was a there were two problems at Chambers. There was the USGA And then there were the greens. the greens were a problem and it wasn't the US Gs. They needed to blow up those greens. The greens were never good enough for a U.S open. That's number one, that was't the USGA and number two it was. me finish. let me finish Number two, There were site problems. You couldn't go to a certain hole. There were dangerous places where people could get hurt, whatever Look But for the most part, I'm agreeing with you about the Chambers Bay disaster. They deserve a second chance. I would love for them to get a second chance But that doesn't mean you now because you're a because you're a pissed off little twelve year old that you have to swing at Chinakop Shinakcock has nothing to do Yeah, it does. Problems at chamberers No it doesn't. It represents It's the elite USGA mentality that you can only play at certain courses. I just This is the last KJ Art This is it I just I give you my perspective of this course And I watch all of it they they talk about how beautiful it is and maybe it's beautiful in person. When Im watching it on TV, I'm like This. Name the other U. S. open East Cast courses that are regularly played. Name Well, Marion This is better. Okay, but it doesn't look better on TV. I don't I'm just saying from a TV perspective. I'm just saying how I look at it. This is five times better. Gohead than Mary H H Heurst we call that East Coast of the South. This is eight times better than. Go ahead. Oont. This is one and a half times better than o But thoseose are the East Coast ones. Those are close. Pebble Beach, you think it's better than Peble Beach. It's Pebble Beach is fantastic. Yeah. I mean, I would look, I lovef. Oh this is come on Come on They going to play at Riviera by the way. if I know, they're coming back. It's Riviera and it's going back to the LA open where they tip it are like five thousand five hundred yards there. And no no matter what happens to Riviera, you're going to say see West Post golf is so much betterost gof. Well, I just it's it's always every year they play one of these and usually this was like the we'd get it and when they had the other schedule PGA would be later in the summer play it somewhere in Olahoma. It's in Oklahoma somewhere the PG And there's thunderstorms all the time. And I'm like all about Chambers Bay Yes That's what this is all about West Coast best. We could have done this in ten seconds. This isn' not Chambers but. You are the s the Greensens there too by the way at at at Shinacock that they had a Chambers. That's the same po Anna Greenens. Yes it is. they talk about all week long how bad they are blow up the greens at Chambers and now they're fantastic. Another reason why they should get another chance I think you and I should be in charge of the tour Oh Maybe I would have agreed twenty four hours ago, but not today Come on Come on. I'm delaying the Okaykay, who are you rooting for? You have a rooting interest? I have a betting rooting interest. Brazil. No, not World Cup. I'll get to that in a second. God. Yes, I know why you're going Brazil by the way. First of all, the cameramen of the World Cup really are the the stars of this whole thing. No, US open Wh's your who's your who youre pulling for? Well, I've got bets so I'm pulling for the guys that I have Okay who have the bets in. Well, it's a lot of guys, you know, I've got six my it doesn't matter. I got a lot of guys. Wh am I pulling you pick one your heart, your heart has that one person I'd like to see Sam fucking burns finish Yeah. O do like Sammy Burns. O one time can he finish Although he cheated last week, but that's okay Okay, again, you don't know the rules. The ball moved Do you not know that Do still is this again Chambers Bay talking? The ball really was moving when he picked it up and remarked it without marking it. Correct. You don't mark it when the ball moves. The ball as he got it't look like it was moving to me. Oh look You think that he doesn't know to mark the ball really? I don't know. He was a little loosey goosey with the rules.ers Bay talking, you're mad. You're a pissed off and you're Sounds like you had anybody. Sounds like you had money on Sammy Burns last. You have money on Sammy Burns every week on the tour because I in a golf league for all the tournaments. I'd like see him win one please. I will defend cheaters like four years ago when Patrick Reened cheated at the farmers and I had him in our golf league. I was like, listen, the rules can be interpreted differently here Jason He got over the put. It was a five foot put As he got over the put, the ball oscillated and moved off its spot. You couldn't see that. He then He then came back behind it get got down and moved it without marking it because the ball had moved with the wind. Do you not understand that? I understand the rule A in the roule. I'm just saying leeaveving Sammy alone. All right, you got Sammy Burns. How about Miles Russell in twelfth place through thirteen? You know his story? Yes, I know his story is the decorated amateur golf right now No, no, no. he's not. You got the wrong guy. That's Jackson Cuid is the most No Okay. I m is Russell the lefty Miles Russell seventeen years old Go to Florida state, the number one junior in America or in the world Okay Qalified for the U S. openpen with who on his bag O Charlie Woods. his teammate next year Florida State They're going to be teammates. Charlie Woods and Miles Russell and he's seventeen years old and he's like in twelfth place. Yeah ask here follow up to that. you think hold on. you think beneath Charlie Woods to carry his bag No, I kinda feel like really? It's Tiger's kid, mayaybe no find somebody else to carry his bag. Some of the great players ever were were Catdy's before.ere the Tiger Woods was carrying his teammates's bag Noope, Tiger was never carried his own bag You know what about what about Jack Yeah, Jack probably Jack probably catdied as a kid. I'd bet Jack Catdied as a kid. Like I'm trying to get my kid Catdy next year at thirteen. Oh yeah. can't wait. Yeah. someome of the great golfers ever Catdied first Well, my heart is pulling for Tommy Fleetwood and his big pants and his old wife. So Tommy Tommy's got to learn how to h a fairway when they're forty five yards wide and and yet he's another guy got money on. Yeah. I'm a little bitter that he can't find a forty five yard fairway. going to be f every other week He hits every fairway, the week that I have them. he can't find a forty five yard f I see on all this golf talk, I'm just delaying the inevitable talk about your lost marinaros. Why do you want to talk about the what's what's wrong No no no, nothing wrong. I mean first of all, can we get Lorena Martin back Or Rick Griffin a new training staff. Oh, Oh, Rickm. God. I mean, how many injuries do these guys have? It's not good, is it? This isn't a football team. This is a baseball team. on. I mean, have you seen have you ever seen a team go through this many injuries and they're not like they're not season ending stuff, but just nagging stuff like one after another, like you want to wrap all these guys in bubble wrap Well, don't you think that when they all come back and they will at some point, the Mariners just kind of tread, tread tread, tread, tread tread tread. and then they all come back and boom They on a little streak. they win the division and then they go to the playoffs. It's like what Hollanders said the other day. what's always kind of my favorite thing with the Mariners. And I know they've made because everyone has tweeted me this. I know they've made a lot of great trades in the last few years at the deadline. But they do love to say when they have an injured player then they come back near the deadline. They always say it's like adding a trade piece at the deadline Yeah. And he said it the other day with Matt Brash. Yeah. Well, Matt Brash is another story altogether I'm not I'm last half empty. I'm convinced that Matt Brash just can't hold up Yeah He's just too slight He's too physically slight. I think Yeah. I don't think he'll ever be The guy that everybody thinks he can be over one hundred and sixty two games. I don't know that how he'll ever get through a season Here's the bigger question. you think he I'm I know what they said that they expect him back after the deadline, but I just, I don't know I have the pit in my stomach tells me that God, what if he's not back in all He'll be back. The other thing about Matt Brash is Does he have to go on the I all aL after every bad outing? I mean, do we have to like use the the injury excuse? Can he not just have a bad outing and it just be A normal bad outing it wasn't physically induced. G I don't know but he is always just banged up and then got Mos bang the bullpit. I mean, good Lord Well Just kind of hang around. hang around like a road team in the NBA punk. Yes J hang around, stay close, stay close and then When it comes to money time in the fourth quarter We'll have all of our pieces back. I'm not that concerned about them. Re Well. Hi, I'm Beau with OC's concrete coatings. Garages are my favorite part of the house I chose to partner with Pentech because they give me the proper tools and support to do my job right. Look lookook at the zit I have in the middle of my forehead. Can you see that Look at that thing fifty years old, why amt get existit still Big nice long visit there with Mitchy. Normally we would have Jim Duquette on at this time, but We caught up with Jim earlier today. as I was mentioning to Mitch, he's has he's coaching a baseball tournament and for some reason It's just not a No one So my apologies to you. If it does eventually work, we will get it out to you later today. but we talked I'll just tell you what we talked about. I'll do the cliff notes of what we talked about with Jim Duen Whaton' we covered Obviously the injuries to the team the six man rotation piggyback and Jim makes the point that I we that Mitch and I kind of talked about there The I guess blessing that it could be once they get to the playoffs. Because if they get into a series and Whether you use three starters or four starters, okay They're going to have three two to three other guys once they get in the playoffs that are comfortable now coming out of the bullpen And what a weapon that is that everyvery other team in the playoffs, they're not going to have that They're not going to have a Luise Castillo After Bryce Miller gives him five or six. that here comes another starter that's going to finish the game and give them three innings likeike starter quality pitchers. I mean The reason that these guys and all of baseball are in the bullpin is because they were failed starters And now you're bringing elite starters coming out of your bullpin. I think we may look back on this and again, we can everyone can be critical of how they've handled it I think the biggest thing that you can be critical of them as an organization was the communication of it to them originally. But if they get in the post season I think they will, I think we all agree they will. And they're using, I don't know who they're coming out. It's Okay, I think your number one st. I think Millers is in the rotation Woo, Gilbert I don't know. Hancock, Does Hancock bump Kirby or Gilbert right now I'm just going just for argument's sake, just going to do this. Not saying I agree with this. Miller, Wu, Gilbert Kirby And then coming out of your bullpin wouldould be Louise Castillo and Emerson Hancock? And then when you're in late September in the playoffs, you've got Kat Anderson, who's now up Ryan Sloan is now up You've got Spire, you've got Ferrear, you've Hopefully fingers cross he got brrash. Hopefully Munos' is okay. You That's a pretty damn deep open And I only use Hancock for the argument's sake is that Hancock has done it Like he he's been a guy that's been more accustomed to back doing it back and forth and being in the bullp. But whatever. maybe it'sancock's in the rotation and you know, Kirby's out or Gilbert's out. I mean, I don't think they would do that to Gilbert, but I think you you guys get the the explanation or the the argument there. So I don't, good problem to have that again Everybody In baseball, would be envious of the situation that the Mariners are in. All right, beforefore we get to on this day and we wrap up the show with Hey, what the pug As I mentioned before, we've got bonus shows throughout the week. Sports pit on Tuesdays with Stretch insside pitch with Davish on Wednesdays and then of course, KJ Arnes with Mitch here on Thursday. Go back to Tuesday's show on the sports bitid. We've talked a lot of World Cup the last two weeks of stretch. And I mean the excitement is off the charts here in Seattle The city looks great. The waterfront looks great And on Friday It's going to be insanely cool to watch all these fans from Australia and the U. S. get together in that stadium on just what is going to be a glorious Friday afternoon. Stretch was there for the very first game. He shot a video of the Belgian National anthem and that video at the time we were recorded. had like over two and a half million views. As we record this now, right twenty four hours everywhere by the way. Yeah twenty two hours later. twow and a half million views. Wow. Right on. How that what did that get me any that that got me in. That got be a sponsorship to the Roanoke. Yeah and and and and talk about on some podcasts no one watches or listens to. That's right. That's what I got you. That's life now. I'm gonna mow the lawn this afternoon and be happy. How many million? two million? Tw and a half million people. No shit have viewed that little twenty two second video that you shot I mean, I'm telling you, it's it's trending on all social media saying the Big nose. Do it say hash take, big nose. Yeah. hash H take bone spot. Yeah. I got you. Hashtag drinking problem. Yes. Hashtag catman. Yeahes Cat adult. Cat father. They call him the cat father. It's everywhere And again, I think it's almost at three million views now that video he shot. Again, that full episode we talk a lot of World Cup And rightfully so. It's in the news. It's in our hometown and we sprinkle in some Mariner stuff and some sek stuff there as well there with Stretch again, sports but every Tuesday with Matt Stretch Johnson. Again, then on Wednesdays, we sit down for a long chat baseball cover the Mariners with our guy Ryan Davish. And on Wednesdays show, a lot was about The rotation, six man rotation And yeah how they all were on board of now this new piggyback And one thing, these guys all have massive egos. They should have egos. They're starting pitchers in baseball But the communication, which has been better lately, here by the front office has allowed, I think these starters, according to Divish to be more open to the suggestions and the path they're going now moving forward. If you're around these guys, they are much better teeammates than I think people give them credit for you know, and the overall goal of winning a championship It supersedes kind of their personal their personal achievement. So I think that's, you know, these guys have kind of We foused on that. Um and you know, Logan talked about the team the meeting they had with all the pitchers to kind of go over this and they all agreed this was the the this piggy back two point zero or whatever it is was the best best solution, they had input, how they wanted to do it. I mean and good on the Mariners for for doing that because I think we both agree the first time was not good in how they handled it They've overcommunicated and they've given those guys some ownership planning of this? And I think It's a lot easier to buy in when you think you have input into the strategy And again, and that has been an area in which the front office for the Mariners improved Because when they first did this go aroundound, they did not have great communication Now at this time, they've over communicated. and that's okay. Over communication is a good thing I think And they've done a much better job this time around. have the Seattle Mariners. And again, we'll see how this goes. They'll reevaluate it again once they get past the trade deadline Go back to I was going to say with Duquette before we got into those those clips there. We talked about the rotation. We brought up An article that was written by his his co host on the GM show, the frront office show that airs on Sundays with with Jim Boden and Jim Duquette on Siries Xim A radio It will be network And was going to bring up to Mitch, we didn't get we got distracted by all the golf talk. But anyways Jim Bodden and Duquette have suggested that the Mariner should target Eraldus Chapman as a key figure to go out and get it at the deadline. And it makes so much sense. Now what are you what are you going to have to give up Cole Reagan is what they had to give up to acquire him. so lookingoo at what you have in your system, are they going to ask for A Anderson and Sloan? I would say no to either of them. just move on. Can you can this organization somehow some way Chapman in their bullpin without having to part with one of those two, which I don't think I think both I think all of us mayend say no to those two Thatd be a hell of a piece to add to your bullpin. Gy big league I mean, big time experience, pitching at the highest levels got a flametrowing arm. It's exactly what they need in that bullpin right now a guy with World Series experience, someone that you could lean on if you if you find Mun' being a little dicey Yeah, that's a great one. I don't offensively ye, right handed bat, but they need some help in the bullpen and I would I would I wouldd put the target on chapman. I agree with Duquette and Jim Bodden.
