And first of all, disclosure Day, Spielberg opening to forty four million dollars domestic, about ninety four million doars total for its global haul, which is pretty solid And on a movie that cost about one hundred fifty million dollars to make hundred fifteen million dollars to make with a marking budget close to a hundred million expensive film in order to turn the green they need to break about three hundred million dollars at the Global box office. I'm sure they'll get there. I personally love the hell out of this movie. It's a return to the sci fi spectacle that we all fell in love with Spielberg movies in the first place. It's a ton of fun. It's getting very surprisingly mixed reviews though. I see a lot of Younger film people and creators not loving the picture, but I gotta say man It's Steam Spielberg back in theaters. What more do you need guys? I love this guy. He's the goats. I think we'll have decent legs, but it does have a little competition coming up because Not only is obsession still doing great. We'll get into that in just a minute, but Toy Story five comes out next weekend as well as the death of Robin Hood, Leviticus and girls like girls. This is a very, very, very healthy summer at the box office. We're probably going to have the biggest year since twenty nineteen. obbviously COVID and lockdowns affected the movie experience quite a bit. Man, the last several weeks have been massive. Thankks to movies like obsession Pulled in in its fourth weekend dropped Only seventeen percent of the box office, sorry, fifth weekend It twenty one million dollars domestic in its fifth fucking weekend How insane is this? Focus features massive success here with this micro budget movie that cost under a million dollars. This is a phenomenon There hasn't been a movie performance like this with a return on investment since I would say the Blair Witch project, paranormal activities. somethingomet similar where this happened. Paranormal, about one hundred thousand dollars budget, Blair Witch around there too. Both those were juggernauts as well. This movie is wildly successful. It's already breaking one hundred ninety million dollars Just the domestic box office cruising to about two hundred fifty million plus globally. What a sensation, Focus features bought this movie for fifteen million dollars fifteen million dollars so gambled big on this film. And it paid off better than anybody on the goddamn planet could have ever expected. Listen to the five weekends totals of this film. It opened to sixteen million dollars, It itss first weekend. Second weekend and went up thirty percent to twenty two million. Third weekend up again twenty six million. fourourth weekend hovered just a little lower at twenty five and then fifth weekend twenty one. Those are all domestic totals That's absolutely absurd. The legs on this movie is ridiculous. I mean, this could make three hundred fifty total at the box office, which is astounding, astounding news. Next up, sccary movie. P prettytty solid second weekend dropped quite a bit to sixty percent, but it still pulled in about fifteen to twenty million dollars at the domestic box office. This parody is killing it. already the most successful of the franchise only cost about thirty million dollars total. It's gonna end up around one hundred million dollars domestic in its total run And I hope to God that they are hard at work on getting Scary Movie seven out for us because this is a franchise that I never want to end especially because horror is booming so much with backrooms, with obsession, with so many other horror films. Clearly they're probably hitting the writing rooms writer's rooms right now Becauseuse you know if they make a moie for twenty twenty seven, they're going to be tackling obsession in backrooms like nobody's business. Imagine ghost face inside of the backrooms. Let's get that going AAP and speaking of backrooms, another big hit for them at eight twenty four, the most successful film they've ever dropped pull in fifteen million dollars in his third weekend doesn't have quite the staying power that a movie like Obsession has had. It had a very big opening weekend, but still very much A very successful film. A twenty four is biggest movie ever. over two hundred million dollars at the gllobal box office, which is absurd A twenty four's viral hits is definitely, I'm sure going to get another sequel very soon. This is a small budget about ten million dollars in goodness. what a success couple of a couple of paltry performers here from huge, huge studios. Masters of the universe in its second weekend Didn't have a great opening weekend. about twenty five million had a steep ins significant drop in its second weekend only pulled in nine million measly dollars at the domestic box office on a budget of about two hundred million Plus the production, I mean, the marketing budget of this movie had to be one hundred and fifty. They marketed the fuck out of this movie. I got to be part of the marketing campaigns. I lik the movie. It was a good time, but it seems like it just didn't resonate with audiences at well. You know, I think it does have some issues. I think they could have pulled off something really special here. They could have made a Barbie esque stamp On the culture But they dropped the ball a bit It's still a fun time at the theater. I will say and the music's awesome But nine million dollars in your second weekend of a two hundred million dollars movie. This is a huge bomb. One of the biggest bombs in recent memory, to be honest probablyably won't even come close to breaking even at the box office. might not even match its budget. You never know at two hundred million dollars. So huge, huge, huge disappointment for Amazon over there. And then Star Wars, the Mandalorian and Grogu, fourth weekend, only five million dollars at the domestic box office. Both these movies were anticipating massive hits, massive successes in Disney's live action pulled over the IP right now in theaters only coming to about Less than three hundred million dollars at the global box office on a production budget near Masters of the Universe close to two hundred million dollars plus marketing. going to be in the red for them as well. So those two movies are going to cost the studios A lot, a lot of money. I'm talking Joker lighting money on fire in the dark night levels of cash. Oh man, at least make it look cool like that. Now let's talk about real quick Michael because I fucking love this movie. I finally saw it But also, it has become the second highest grossing biopick of all time Right behind Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer's at nine hundred seventy five Bx office. Michael passed nine hundred million dollars at the global box office. nine hundred eleven million dollars. What a hit This movie is outstanding guys. I really genuinely loved it. I loved every second of it. I was dancing in the theater. Trying not to stand up and dance because I was basically alone with three other people and man. we had a good time in there and it was just so fun But u Again, upcoming releases Toy Story five drops next weekend oice facing a new challenge of technology, changing the world Tomank Simell and they're all coming back. pllus Joan Kuseac is Jesse as well as a new villain, Lilyad. And I'm excited to see this one looks great. Also the death of Robinhood. Don't sleep on this one guys. This is from Michael Samoski who made Pig an awesome movie starring Nicholas Cage several years ago. This is a gritty action drama reinterpretation of Robinhood starring Jack H mean, Hugh Jackman as the battlewary Robinhood in this film seeking redemption. Jodie Kolere, Bill Skarsgard, Roundout the Great Cast cast Leviticus is coming out. It's aomance a romance horror film And the girls like girls coming of age drama coming out as well. Now, this kind of connects to what Matt Reeves said a couple of months ago saying that the main villain in this film is someone who's never been done live action before. So this kind of checks out And he shaved his head. like the character has a shaved head in the film for his last film that he was just in that just one can U last month So he still has the crew cut the short hair and I think this is going to be what we see in the film. Plus Brian Tyree Henry greatreat actor as well He's now rumored to play Harvey Denton who he didn't know who he was going to play But now speculation coming away from Sebastian Stan is Harvey Dent a huge titular character in this IP going forward. now might be Harvey Dent two face, which I think would be really cool. I think Brian Tye Henry is a great actor. He's done a lot of really interesting roles And he's sort of been in the DC, you know, Joker pop it in there for a little bit. So I think that's a cool thing to check out and look out for upcoming in the Batman part two got a bunch of trailers guys. Let's talk about them. First of all A new Brad Pitt movie He's got a couple. He just rarapped production on one in Ireland, but this one's different. This is for Heart of the Beast from David Ayire Sorry, Brad Pitt. The sururvival thriller follows a former soldier and his dog who battle for survival after a plane crash in the wilderness in theaters of september twenty fifth This is sort of like hatchet The book except for adults. Pitt basically plays an next spepecial Force soldier to was had a war, a battle doog too and him and the dog have retired from war, but now they're off on their own And they're both suffering from PTSD, which I think was really interesting toes as well as they are sort of stranded after a plane crash And they have to survive And it looks awesome. Brad Pitt and the dog signign me the fuck up. Let's go The social reckoning though Very interesting trailer here. I've been so curious to see what this movie was going to look like You know, this is a long anticipated sequel from the social network starring Jeremy Strong coming to play Mark Zuckerberg because Jesse Isisenberg refused to come back as the character. Jeremy Allen White plays a reporter. then Mikey Madison plays a whistleblower at the company at Facebook The film follows this engineer who becomes that whistleblower and reveals guarded Facebook secrets that shhed light on so many things in our life in terms of the behind the scenes scope of what these people in these companies have access to in terms of our day to day information, our daily lives, whereether it's tracking every single moment of our lives, tracking our messages, everything. So a huge story that dropped, o is it like twenty seventeen ish? And this is when Zuckerberg was doing all those trials Jeremy Strong Obviously we all love the guy and everything he does, but goodness, what an actor. He looks so good as Mark Zuckerberg. the voice. is outstanding I anticipate Jeremy Strong, if this movie really holds up to the potential to get nominated if not win an Academy Award for this role. Austin Abrams who' about to become a household name after weapons and then he's going to be he's the leading resident of evil from Zach Creger. new trailer for his new movie Whalefall, he plays a scuba diver who must escape a sperm whale's tummy. because it eats him. Before his oxygen runs out in theaters october sixteenth, I've been so curious to see what this looks like and didn't disappoint. This movie looks awesome. He's looking to develop a final Mad Max movie and a TV series Amazon Universal and Sony are all interested in acquiring the rights Now George Miller a visionary and what he was able to create with Mad Max from the movies in the eighties, low budget filmmaking then to create the full vision and scope of what was going on inside that guy's mind and the creativity with Fury Road and Furiosa Nothing short of astounding. Furiosa though was not a strong performer at the box office, hence why a new sequel hasn't even been been made yet or been in greenlit I think this is a cool idea However I think if another Mad Max movie is going to get made TV series is going to get made You gott to bring Max back. Yeah, Fury Rode he's in the movie But that's very much Furios's movie. Hands down. Furios is the main character of Mad Max Fury Road But then If you'os a Mad Max movie, you got a little cameo on top of a mountain, that's about it You got to give the people what they want. People are calling it one of the best fight movies of the century One of the best genere entries since the raid And I can't wait to see this movie Hopefully pretty soon It comes out this weekend O this past weekend it came out. I'm not sure how wide of a release it got. It's pretty limited right now. I think if I'm looking right now at Los Angeles, there's really only I see six theaters near me playing it Everyone has a ton of showtime.
