As a host of this show and someone who's on the internet quite extensively with video content, it's been important to me over the years to start looking better and making sure my fashion's up to speed. and Quint has been a great partner in helping that They sent us a bunch of great clothes and I got to say One of my favorite pieces I've gotten this entire year just in general Is this incredible Denhim jacket that I love to rock and go denim on denim Cowboy Tuxedo. It's one hundred percent cotton and it's ridiculously comfortable. I can speak on behalf of Anthony who loves linen. I tell them all the time All you wear is linen. You're always on a vacation in Europe, even if you're in LA. and Quince is one hundred percent European linen pants and shirts are incredibly breathable. He loves them so much. He's literally wearing them right now on his amazing year old trip that he's been on And Quinn has so much to offer that two guys with totally different styles can find plenty of options for wardrobe and clothing Their tees are also soft enough to literally live in all day And somehow everything at Quince is literally fiftycent to eighty percent cheaper than similar brands They work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middlemments so you're paying for exceptional quality, not the brand markup Make your summer wardrobe easier. That's Q U I N C E slash Raiders for free shipping and three hundred and sixty five day returns Quince d. com slash Riders Heat two officially releases its cast. The Odyssey preremieres tonight. Supergirl dropped eighty percent at the box office. Spielberg is getting into YouTube movies. And there's so much to break down in this episode of Movie News. What's up, movie friends? Welcome back to Raiders of a Lost Podcast. We are the ultimate film and TV podcast. And this is our weekly episode of Movie News where James and I go through all of the industry news so you don't have to so sit back, relax, Don't worry about scouring all those internet articles, dealing with the ads everywhere. because James and I did it We watched the trailers. We checked out the box office numbers. There's a lot to go into this week. James Let's talk about this week's box office and I gott to say, Since the start of May, The box office has been so healthy and it continues this weekend First of all, Anthony, we hit a milestone in this episode. You're on our Three th mov Ns episode right now. three hundred episodes of movie Ns. We have not missed a single week, I don't think in those F years or how I don't want to do the math right now That's a lot of it's a lot of movie news episodes. That's insane. We did it, man. We started doing it. twenty twenty one, I think we started doing movie news because we started the show in twenty twenty, but we want to do something weekly in terms of Episodic relevant topics and Man, it's been a journey doing movie News every week every every sing Monday. It used to be on Sundays, been hour Mondays, but three hundred episodes of movie News. Congratulations. Cheers to our amazing listeners Here's my glass of wine. It's seven o'clock in London where I am. so it's safe to drink. it's not it's not Eleven AM like you Well, I mean, you can drink technically anytime. Yeah. I mean you're an adult. I can do whatever. you can you certainly drink at eleven AM. Also what have when people go to the airport, everybody has Sovereign Blanc and beers at six AM. so times relative. Amen. You might die. So you might as well, you might It's the only place in the world It's the only place in the world where it's like, yeah, I'll have two I'll have two beers at six AM That's totally acceptable After waking up, me it sound lighter. It's one thing. It's okay. I'm going on a flight Let's get into the box office everybody. We have a couple new releases. First of all, Mions and Monsters which I saw and is absolutely delightful. It's an incredible, charming ode to filmmaking. It's Babylon with minions Oped to sixty five million dollars at its opening domestic weekend, which is very strong for a movie that only costs eighty five million dollars to make. The minions and movies are notorious for hitting a billion dollars. So I expect this thing to have absolute huge legs. It's in competition with Toy Story five right now, which is in second place at thirty five million in its third domestic weekend, an absolute juggernaut Absolute house at the box offffice. Both those movies expect to have huge legs throughout the rest of the summer despite the Odyssey and Spider Man coming out. I saw that I saw Minions and monsters had a Citizen Cane sequence with ro Rosemary sequences Yes, it's rosebud, except it's a farts it's very funny I didn't know it was a fart that's hilarious It's honestly, it's terrific. I went into it with no expectations and I was blown away. I got to interview the cast, which was a ton of fun that's all over social media. and I did a review last week on the film I talked to Jeff Bridges Jesse Isisenberg, Allison Janny Zoe Deutch, Bobby Moyahan. It was crazy and director Pier Koffin. but it's literally Babylon setet in the nineteen twenties, for the most part, Mions trying to make movies, but it's they pay homage to Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, so many stars and movies from the past. It's honestly delightful After Toy Story five in third place, we have younga Washington, a surprising eighteen million dollars at the box office prettyretty strong performer here And I know this is a bit of a controversial film because AI, I believe was used in some of the making of this movie And apparently it's solid though. peopleeople turned out for this july fourth weekend, the perfect time for it to come out. And if you noticice me reing the top three movies of the box office, You definitely didn't hear whole blockbuster that came out a week ago. becausecause Supergirl dropped eighty percent at the box office Holy crap, it only pulled an eight million domestically in its second weekend, which is Catastrophically bad This movie is projected to barely hit two hundred million dollars globally for its entire run on a budget of one hundred eighty five million do plus marketing. You can expect Warner Bothers in DC to lose around nine figures in this theatrical run I this is Absolutely it's looking like it's worse than Joker two's performance because Joker two, I don't think, dropped down to eight million on second weekend. Both movies opened at about thirty five, thirty seven million This is such a catastrophic dip And to to have projections saying it might only hit two hundred million, it might stay below that for its global run, the entirety of its box office run That's absolutely ridiculous. and it shows that You know, audiences they're just getting tired of this stuff and they need something fresh like obsession and rooms and I think studios are learning that they're losing that young crowd, which is why what we'll talk about later on in this episode, the huge influx of the trend of internet horror being adapted by stududios, which we'll talk about in a little bit, but that's really dismal for performance for a movie that costs over two hundred million I got to fact check you slightly. So actually it has a slightly better performance than Joker Falia D where Joker Follia D dropped eighty one percent and pulled in seven million dollars second wee. So they're pretty much neck and neck in terms two of the biggest bombs from Warner Brothers in DC in recent memory. This is and at the end of the day, it's just objectively true that it's going to lose Probably one hundred and fifty million dollars, maybe for the studio. after you factor in ticket sales, get split with movie theaters. This movie hasn't even grossed a hundred million dollars yet. They spent two hundred million ish on just the film then marketing, you know, it's going to need six hundred million dollars, five hundred million dollars to break even and won't come anywhere near that. So huge, huge flop And then disclosure dayay, another not catastrophic performance but a very okay performance so far. Disclosure dayay compared to its budget. It's over two hundred twenty million dollars globally in its fourth weekend pulled in six million dollars domestically Movie cost about one hundred fifteen hundred and twenty to make. So performance wise, it might break a profit in SVOD in streaming video on demand. We'll see, but so far, Disclosure day itself hasn't been a strong performer either, but nothing near Supergirl. Yeah, and that's not a surprise given, you know, Spielberg hasn't had a giant box office jugguonnaut in years. He doesn't make those kinds of movies anymore reallyally Um But yeah, I was surprised that I think it's really the bad word to mel through the film that hurt it. And James and I we both love the film, but it's gotten really mixed and bad reviews from people all around, which It's one of the mysteries I think of this year I'm confused about it, but I think that's what hurt its legs and why it hasn't really caught on in the weeks after it its premiere. Let me go ahead and fact check you again. Ready player one grossed over six hundred million dollars of the box office. So that was a big juggernaut for Spielberg recently. Andelber What year was that? Hey man, what year was that? twenty sixteen? twenty twenty eighteen. It's almost ten years ago You said recently he's made three movies Total since then. I was fact checked. this' o I'm just trying to I'm just trying to smooth it over This fucking guy. It was right before COVID like this kid gets fact checked and he's Oh But at the end of the day, Spielberg has sort of lost touch with the younger audiences because virtually no one under the age of eighteen saw disclosure day. small, small percentage of the box office. mostly people who saw the film were over twenty five, below fifties in that range It seems like that's why we'll talk about later on. he's getting into the YouTube game in the furious strong performance in its second weekend. five point five million dollars at the domestic box office.' It's going to be a good earn. It looks like. It's got solid legs. That's pretty good for an international film. I mean, I saw people complaining that it was such a low performance, but You gotta factor in. it's not a completely wide release and also it's international language film. thoseose are already set to not make that much money. So I think it's a good performance for the weekend. Now Spider Man, brand new day coming out at the end of the month. There are projections and this movie is expected to open over five hundred million dollars globally in its opening weekend. Wow. So it's on pace to be Tom Min's highest earner For that opening Siderm Man movie. Yeah, with that opening, that's great because I mean, he's in end game and in ye, ye Finy War. Yeah. So I mean, just his solos Yeah for his Spider May movies, Yeah. I hope it does I hope it does well. And what's ironic is Odyssey is not going to open that big and its opening weekend. It'll open softer, but they might end up making about the same amount of money Nolan's movies never open big like they used to when he was making the Dark Kight films and honestly inception. likeike he's his Dunk Dunkkirk didn't have a juggernaut opening. They had big openings, but not like Dark night. Oppenheimer only made what sixty nine million opening weekend It was like sixty five, seventy five somewhere around there. Barbie beat it, you know what I mean? So like his movies have legs. But um, So this I want to get out of the box office because I went to the new Beverly and I saw heat the other day. Ohorious Oh Here's awesome It' like watching for the first time front row. It was great You want to go ahead and read this next bit of news, Anthony. Yeah related to it. Also I mean, that's it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Heat two We've been talking about it for over a year now. I think since its's announcement And we finally have confonirmation Who's going to be acting in this film and who they'll be playing Christian Bale and Leonardo Diaprio both will star in heat two. Christian Ba will be playing Chrisa Herless And deopy, I mean and then Christian Bale will play Vincent Hannah. So Vincent Bail will be play Alpucino DiCaprio will play Val Kilmer's character and then Steven Grah We'll play Neil McCauley, Robert D Niro' character And I think this is, I mean, you can't get any better actors for any of these roles I cannot wait. Christian Bale. doing Al Pacino This is going to be unbelievable And honestly, people who may not be super familiar with Stephven Grham, outstanding actor has played crime guys, even mob guys before. he's he's played characters that De Niro has played before as well. Al Capone most recently. So this isn't the first time that Stepven Graham's been connected to a Robert De Niro role. And I think he's going to absolutely deliver. And I have I know an insider. I won't say who But I know an insider who read the screenplay Inead it's fantastic He said it was it's unbelievable and the movie's gonna to rock and rip. He said that He said that Michael Mann has been obsessively working on the script for like ten years And he's fin and he's finally happy with it to get to get shooting I want to talk about the Odyssey now because this is starting its press, starting its marketing in a big way. A lot of interviews are coming out They also released the final trailer the other day in press has begun The London World preremiere is tonight. Now, I don't know if you've seen any BTS stuff, but I want to talk about the MAax camera mirror system used on the Odyssey. So mirrors were used on the set of the Odyssey for actors to act around the enormous IMax camera system, the new stylent IMAax camera housing system called the Blimp. It's so big that it blocks actors from seeing each other. So Christopher Nolan how to devise a meror system for actors to perform doing shots close to each other. A series of mirrors are mounted to the blimp. O O actor looks at a mirror or a series of mirrors that are reflecting into each other and sees the other actors's face clearly Even with the giant camera blimp in between them. it feels completely natural like the other actor's face is right there. actors could perform naturally. Dialogue was recorded cleanly and because this is the first film ever shot entirely in Stunningful IMax, they had to have some fun workarounds and especially if you look at BTS, the blimp is enormous. and so this isn't every single shot But you know, when you have two characters that in the shot in the scene, they're talking a couple of feet in front of each other or just next to each other You would normally put the camera right over their shoulder right behind them. So you get the one shot over the shoulder or one shot of someone looking at off lens, but now because the blimp is absolutely ginormous, it's like it's like a mini car. They had to figure out this mirror system so that There's a BTS image of Tom Holland and John Bernthhal. They're talking to each other the scene. I'm sure the wide shots, they're probably a foot away from each other talking face to face, but BTS on their close ups and their one shots, they're like eight feet away from each other looking into mirrors that are reflecting into mirrors And it's a testament to Nolan still using old school techniques and tricks with his filmmaking comombining state of the art analog technology also shows how much he cares about performance because this way your actor' not looking the camera They're still able to look into the eyes of the actor they're performing with And I saw an interview with Matt Damon talking about this and he said, Looking back on filming those scenes, these close ups and these singles that they were shooting for more intimate scenes. hide over the shoulder shots. He said that when he looks back on remembering The filming of the shoot He doesn't even remember the mirrors. and in his mind, he remembers just shooting with Anne Hathaway in front of her in front of him So the mirrors really worked for the actors in their performances It's so interesting cannot wait. Did you see the trailer for werewolf? Oh yeah. this is one. Ohh my go This movie looks so good Robert Argrew at wereerewolf It comes to theatater is Christmas Day Agars owns every other Christmas. This is just the way it is and I love it I love Ghic horror on Christmas Day Lily Rose Depp, Aron Taylor Johnson Will Dfe round out the leads of this cast and Egar said that he's doing something different with werewolfves that we've never seen before. He's straay away from a lot of the cliches and a lot of stereotypes U and he stripped it down it looks like And he's also seems to be including a lot of witchcrafts and folk magic into the creation of the werewolf, maybe Theor is not created by being bitten but maybe it's created through witchcraft or spellcraft or what have you I think the cinematography looks outstanding you talked about it uh on O Instagram last week and how they shot this not monochromatic, but in color on film negative and then stripped out the red So it has this almost monochromatic look But it has a little bit of blue and green in the image, which looks fantastic and And they they beefed up the film grain. So it's I love how dirty Ritty it looks It looks absolutely bonkers. I'm so sad for this I can't wait for Christmas Day They did something interesting where they took the grain structure of black and white film and added it onto color film Love it. So they shot on color. They were originally going to shoot black and white, but then they devised this really cool process. And I think I can I think we can expect December twenty fifth Christmasay, twenty six to be the biggest Christmasay ever at the box office because a week before Christmas doe part two and doomsday come out and you know they'll both have huge huge Juggernaut second weekends on Christmas Day with not with u Werewolf too. so I think we we're going to see the biggest Christmas ever. That Latters. That's a good point. These are three huge movies That's fantastic Project Tail Mary Gid, it's arriving on Amazon Prime. After one hundred and fifty days of its theatrical window, which I love to hear. It's been so long Since we've seen outside of like Nolan films or Scorsesee films A long release window, which used to be the norm. And also Physical four four Ks are available and the steel book is available for pre order. I already pre orered the steel book and I cannot wait to get it in July third, so you can actually watch it right now Amazon Prime was when it came out. Oh look at that. lookook at that. Yeah. in the steel book How about that cover art It'sautiful, my go God, it looks good looks terrific. I can't wait to add it to the collect I have to admit sometimes the workload of the podcast can get overwhelming with All the recording, the editing, we go to a lot of events, travel a lot and I get burnt out quite a bit. and I think that's where it's important to consider therapy and talking to somebody And finding a therapist, it's already hard enough, especially when the takes your insurance and that's where Rula comes into play because other therapy platforms fall short, but Rula doesn't. They dropped a badass trailer. Cck it out. I can't wait Gold Derby, our friends over there, Deborah Bernbagh, the editor over there who's been on the show, have started to release their Oscar nomination projectject projection Predictions G in projections. I blended two words together that It didnn't make sense And so I'd love to run through real quick the odds for movies right now as they stand. off course, it's only halfway through the year, but right now, the Odysse' number one for Best picture. Project Tail Mary two, Digger three, Wild Horse nine and Fjord five, which I think will be a contender. Oh, I can't wait Christian Man Goose film. Let's go. Doing part three is at seven. Now alsoso I'd like to run through. Let'll just do the top fiveives. B director, Chrishererolan prorojection. numberumber one, Alejandro Gonzales in Yariu, number two, Marin McDononna three Javria Abroros and Havria Calvo for four and Christian Munjo. right Best actress Julianne Moore Not a Rnzay. Andy Navaret Michelle Williams and Sandra Hooler. So it looks like Indy has a pretty high probability right now to get a nomination, which is really cool. I think she's going to take an actor I'm sorry, but this is Tom Cruz' year everybody. Tom Cruise. Number one projection at Digger. John Malkovich at two. Ryan Gosling three, Sebastian Stan four and Matt Damon five. Re great great movies and actors Best supporting actress, Penelope Cruz Marandi Jllamo And Hathaway Sandra Hooler and Parker Posey. So Sandra is getting two nomination projections right now for supporting actress and lead actress because she's the lead actress in u and Fatherland Right ye supporting it Suing Pvel Pavalowsk's digger. Yeahah Father line. Yeah The thing with Deger, I cannot wait to see what this movie is going to look like soon The cast is absolutely absurute. like Sandra Hulererss in the film, you haven't even seen in the trailer or anything And then best supporting actor Paul Giomati John Goodman Sam Rockwell Steve withhme and Edward Norton. Those are all the top fiveives right now. I wouldn't I would, um Honestly, let's notleep don't let them sleep on some of the supporting casts in the Odyssey Yeah, I think it hasn't come out yet. Yeah I think that, um Pattinson has a great potential to get supporting Um, And a few of the other actors there's some great roles in that. so I expect some of someone from that cast to get nominated for acting I mean Lig Gozammo is doing a lot of press. He could have a I think Yeah role in the film. I think Le Gozammo has got it might be his year to get Some awards recognition because he looks he looks lead he's playing his He's playing Odysseus' longtime servant. I believe. who will be in both storylines of present and past. And he looks like he just he disappears in that role just from the trailer Let's get into the Internet horror Anthony. What do you think about that I mean, it's no surprise when a film like the Backrooms obliterates the box office and gets People from the ages thirteen to twenty to go to the storm into movie theaters and by insane amounts of tickets That it would begin a new trend of And we get we predicted this. It was, I mean, who why wouldn't this happen The stududios are mining the internet for any other horror IP I like folktales internet IP Two major announcements just came out this past weekend Again, just like the backrooms, I don't know what either of these are, but they do have big fan bases. The first one is Sirenhead Warner Brrosers has purchased the rights and will adapt this story. indistributed. Zach Creger is producing and writing alongside Brian Dufffield, who's writing and directing. He has the new film Wale Fall withith Austin Abrams coming out. he directed that Now, Sirenhead was created by artist Trevor Henderson And it's an internet fueled urban legend story. that follows a mysterious predator who has two sirens for a head. as well as a long thin frame It looks like he's like the size of two houses, but sometimes he can be smaller U a bunch of people have made all sorts of lore about this And looking forward to seeing this. I mean if Zach and And Brian are involved, that's great hands to be in for any kind of movie Both incredibly talented. whalefall looks outstanding. And Zach has obviously proven himself so well The second adaptation will be the Mandela catalog Now this is an extensive series Scott Stuber from United Artists is teaming up with Steven Spielberg and Amazon MGM stududios for adapting this for the big screen The Mandela catalog has amassed well over one hundred million views across its official episodes alone making it the largest original analog horror franchise on YouTube And also, a lot of people have made their own adaptations and their own shorts within this world. So there's a lot of people who have built into the storytelling of it. It's highly regarded as one of the defining titles in the analog horror genre alongside local fifty five and the backrooms. this was launched in twenty twenty one And it set in a fictional Mandela Cy, Wisconsin which is invaded by shapeshifting nearly immortal creatures called alternates, which act as almost surrogate. was Um, not surrogate What's, uh someone who looks just like you. Dppble gang Dopppble Gangers. Thankk you. they' Dppble gangers Almost They're almost perfect Dpelgangers. and these creatures are called alternates. And people have made some pretty cool short films about the dooppelgangers. I checked some stuff out There's a lot of potential Both these can be huge releases. I'm not sure backrooms powerower. will be unmatched because the backroom seems to be like the Hr internet story Th these two definitely have so much potential Hey I mean Spielberg' involved that's pretty c That's pretty cool. Now this next story is interesting controversy. I put this in here for you, man as a huge fan of F one Jy Foster was at I believe the pin film Festival, ass spin film of all places to say this to And she said I don't know if she actually believes this, but basically said F one was made with AI. So to quote Jodody Foster, I don't say this despairingly. How could I? The movie went on to make millions of dollars. But I look at a movie like F one and I'm like, F one was made by AI, wasn't it? I mean, the structure was exactly the structure that you would learn in school. The actors say the lines. exactly, it would be written if a computer was writing exactly What would be the right thing for that time and they were able to dominate the technology to make something big and beautiful and potentially where a lot of the information comes from other places. Now part of me reads that And I don't want to just takeake her words and run with it. It seems like she was coming from a place of like, yeah, obviously like That movie so formulaic is probably made with AI I don't know if she's actually saying like I know for her factors made with AI I'm saying she's probably assuming and jokingly saying that was made with AI because of Sure, you could say that F one has a simple structure. Sure, you could say It' basically Days of Thunder except not NASCAR and it's F one. And you know what give a fuck. I fucking love F one FO was outstanding and just T to say something like this tickakes away. the achievement that the team did making this film. the technology developed, the difficulties How impossible is that movie to edit let alone shoot somehow they shot this movie at real races at real events The complexity of the production The visuals were just outstanding. Beautiful CGI as well. that is nearly unnoticed I think just takes away from the great people, the thousands of people that worked on this film and made it happen Not to mention Jodie I love you. You're such a great actress in some of my favorite movies of all time. Star you I don't care. sometometimes. I love I love it for me likeake every once in a while This top gun maverick similar to topop gun Yeah, I don't care. I love it. I love it so much. So I don't think there's anything wrong if there's something that's formulaic, if it's effective, and it achieves what it needs to achieve, Make an entertaining film for audiences That's what F one is. F one is not Gonna win screenplay best Oscar, but visual effects? sure. And also it's just fucking awesome. it's sick. It's a cool ass fucking movie. What you What are you gonna do about it? Yeah N every movie has to be an art house film And I think when You know, there are are tours and great talents that come out and bash other films because they might think them beneath them. I think it hurts the industry I totally agree with every word you've said, man. Well said. and I'm sure she didn't mean it And I'm sure she was She means well But it does take away from, you know, the fourteen months of shooting this team did. and how like you said, impossible it was, and they pulled it off. you know what? It's a movie about racing. And you commit so much of the story a narrative to racing You don't have the time to really make the dialogue groundbreaking You have to really just as quickly as you can and in as simple a way as possible, get the audience to like your characters and root for them And you have to go with archetypes for something like that. And it it works because the cast is great. Brad's the star of Stars and And I don't care if it's it has formulaic moments, but like you said I love A movie that just hits all the right beats and it's totally fine. It's a movie about race cars I mean, it can't be an Eric Roomer French film about, you know, couples at a beach and I love Eric Roomer But F one iss a completely different movie So That's all I say about that. G guysys I love cheeseburgers. They're formulaic. They're veryable. Cheeseburgers are formulaic. when I want to get a good cheeseburger, you take a bite, it's ecstasy. You know sureort. do I like to go get a prime rim every once in a while? Do I like a nice fancy meal But hey, I had a cheeseburger yesterday and it was fucking awesome Wh'd you get it Goldberurger. Oh, nice Nice smashurger Let's talk about the new Fast and Furious movie. We're just filming Fast Forever is the finale. Van Diesel teased it on his Instagram. He says it's the most amazing finale. He's on set. peopleeople are grinding, incredible crews are working. comoming out march seventeenth. twenty twenty eight The eleventh and final chapter they say and the seven billion dollar franchise. Yeah, right I will I would I would bet I would get on Calci and B. That will be a fast twelve I put ten grand That much money makes. Are there some big industry shakeup going on with another major studio? Well, it's actually a megacorp comcast is dividing into multiple parts And it's breaking its division into multiple aspects. The first Major set will be NBC Universal So film and TV and the theme Parks will be a separate entity run by a co CEO named Mike Kavanaugh And the rest of Ccast will be run by a different CEO So they'll operate separately And the film, TV, amusement park division, the media division will be separate from the rest of Comcast whichich I think is it works. they've done it in the past. they did it fifteen years ago And now they're doing it again I suppose it would give them a little bit more focus on each aspect of the gigantic megaorp that it is So we'll see what happens We'll see what happens. Luca Guanino's film artificial has finally found a buyer. Looks like Non is set to finalize deals purchasing this film after Amazon MGM dropped it with after their partnership with openpen AI Non's close to acquiring the deal which cost forty million dollars to make neearly done It's set during the tumultuous time when Altman playayed by Andrew Garfield was hired and then rehired by the AI giants And Now it looks like Ne's going to pick it up andistribute. Any new any new look of film There's a good film man. I can't wait. He's the man. I love it All right, Backrooms is coming to theaters with a new cut Kane Parsons and company have added fifteen minutes of bonus footage tacked onto the film that he made him pllender And they're putting this out in theaters this weekend That's really cool. I like that. A lot of the film is made in Blendnder, so it' probably prettytty seamless and very efficient for them to do Very I'm very excited for August guys because Warn Brros has a big movie coming out. with dinosaurs, The endnd of Oak Street, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, dropped a couple of new posters. There's a new teaser trailer last week. The film follows a family who discovered that their neor neighborhood has been taken back in time to the prehistoric era. And also it seems like it's going to be a very big dog movie The Dog seems like a major star of the film. And yeah I'm looking forward A dinosaur film. I can't wait. Joe Wright's got a new film coming in the works It's called juice juice in J' right He's got a U and down career but when he hits, he hits Home rununs man Gy's awesome. it does. And this is his first time. He's going to be working in sci fi thrill territory Juice is set in a fractured and ravaged world following a climate change disaster. And our young husband and father is recruited into a top secret resistance organization join the ranks of a militia men tasked with targeting the isolated and wealthy culprits responsible the global catastrophe The closest thing he's done to this is Hannah with Sa Ronin and Kate Lynchet and Eric Banner, which was fantastic. That was like a mild sci fi heavy action thriller Excellent stuff. Joe Wright is I think when he's when he's on his game, one of the best directors there is I mean, he made the best pride prejudice hands down. Oh yeah Hands down. I'll take a movie break and talk about gaming news after I show you this amazing poster over my shoulder of the lastast Samurai starring Tom Cruise. He's got a big movie coming out. in October and they're going to release the trailer of Digger on the thirteenth, but what better way to show your pride of Tom Cruise than to deck out your home with a movie poster from his immense filmography. Movieposters d. com We have a code with the company Raiders ten. This poster is double sided, which they have plenty of on the website. Double sided are great because you put them inside of a light box this one behind my shoulder, which also is for movieposters. com And it looks like a movie theater wherever you live. And that's the benefit of double sided with some lights every kind of movie TV show you could imagine in their collection. We've been there. They have millions and millions of prints. They have new releases, classics from the past, Whver you need, go to movieposters. com. use's our code Raers ten Now some gaming news for a low quick break kindind of relevant to Physical media war where you better start getting some physical media guys because Less and less gets made every year. PlayStation. They're going to start ending the production of physical game discks for all new games starting january twenty eighth. From that date, new games will be available in digital formats only. and also Xbox's next generation hardware project Helix. is not expected to include a disk drive, so you can expect the same thing from Xbox Now why is this relevant to movies and physical media att some point will be Most people won't have any physical media. Anthony and I try to scoop up as much as we can, especially movies that we love that are new releases. I always scour the internet every couple months to pick up some four Ks and bllue Rays when I can. But This relates to movies and TV and games where moovies andames they are going to live on on servers somewhere and if that server shits the bed, it's gone forever. something happens to your subscription, it's gone forever Um we're seeing that happen with Amazon two and PlayStation, which PlayStation lost the distribution rights to a lot of movies in their library. in the fine prrint says that they're not liable to tell you that happens and it's in the contract that if you buy a game or buy a movie from PlayStation And they lose the rights, then you lose the movie as well and your money's gone forever It's in the contract in the fine prints. So that's the danger, that's small example of Trying not to have everything live digitally. So if you can get physical media, get it by gaming, good luck It's going it's going to end. It's the perfect way to keep your subscription forever Exactly. They got you, they got you forever because of this There's no way out unless you want to stop gaming All right Mike Flanagan I love you, man. You're cool guy We need another remake of another horror film Just announced just another remake, not just another remake, but also another Stephen King remake. So not only has he made a few Steam Kaking adaptations already, but he did Dror Sleep Did the life of Chuck He just rarapped Carry And now he's just rarapped he just rarapped Cry, just rarapped the exxorcist And now he's about to write and direct a new remake of the Mist by Stephen King I mean, dude Come on, man I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. Whatever, man. I don't know. Well here's the thing. I like Mike Flanagan as a writer director. I think he's great. When you have so many horror films and so many horror IP's that are iconic and Obviously everything is going to get remade, but if the same person keeps remaking them, they're not going to feel different. They're not going to look different. They're going to have very similar qualities. So I think that's the con where it's it's turning into like the Mike Flanagan horror universe. where all of these IP's that are getting remakes are just going to have his style and his filmmaking, prowess onto it pros and cons to that willill they lose the identity of what they could be if another filmmaker tackled another this sort of remake? Yeah, that's the thing. Nothing against remakes. they've always happened. You know, Curry Barker is doing Texas chainsaw. And he's not the first one to do it asex chance I remake But I don't know. I think it's just like odd I don't know, to just keep doing all these classic horror remakes. It's like dude,'re flanagan, you. You can get any you can get most like You shouldn't have any problem getting a movie made, Like do we have to keep doing remakes of these classics? I don't know. No The mist isn't even that old. like the mist two thousand five doesn't need a remake. I love that M it's old Yeah, I mean, what are you going to do? What can you do differently? It still looks pretty good. It holds up pretty well. It's got such a great ending. I mean One of the things with that is it such a jarring ending that what can you do that will really change it. Let's move into some more news. We got still got a bunch of stories left. Alamo Draft House Some news with them They are launching a new program designed to screen film festival titles that never secured traditional distribution. Variy describes the initiative as a distribution style program to bring overlooked festival releases into theaters. That's really cool. I like that New Taser for the Hunger Gamees Sunrise on the Reaping. just dropped. This is Theatater of november twiet. I I know he's not in this, but I just watched Wasteman with Tom Life And David Johnson Tom Blyth is unbelievable in that movie He played snow in the last Hunger Games prequel And it has nothing to do with this, but you's so good. You're gonna to watch Wasteman. Everybody watch Wasteman. I will. alsoso children of blood and bone, which is Getting a big adaptation had to showcase at Cinemacon from Paramounts The author of the young adult franchise is Tomi Aiemi, and she's distancing herself from Paramount's upcoming adaptation of her book She co wrote the screenplay with director Gina Prince Bythwood. But she posted a screenshot revealing that she blocked the star Amandala Stenberg says there's a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work I have not seen the film and I will not watch it. It's been painful holding this back from you all. So drama With whoa, children of blood and bone. She She posted that she blocked the actress? Interesting She screenshotted. Yeah. They' they're DM New trail for colony. Sick new zombie movie comes from trainer Bustan director Yon Sang ho. This is a zombie through which falls for sur survivors trapped in a Korean high rise. I mean a zombie outbreak, but these are different zombies. they seem to have some kind of intelligence and the spread is more science based I can't wait. It looks super fresh, looks super fun theaters August twenty eighth G go see Colony it looks fucking awesome. Yeah, they have some sort of a connection to monkeys and they even kind of move like monkeys where they run on all fours when they sprints Um it's really interesting. lookook. Let's talk about this crazy Hollywood scandal a massive fraud scam. So federal prosecutors have sentenced forty seven Ronner director Carl Rynch to thirty months in prison for defrauding Netflix eleven million dollars forty seven run he made with Kiannor Reeves. And this was meant this is money meant for his fifty five million dollars sci fi series called Conquest. It was called I believe. before his change to conquest, which never got completed. Instead, Rych spent nine point one million of the funds through his own bank account Brinch claimed the payments cover his own production costs, but testimony from former Netflix execs Undermine his defense. he went on a lavish spending spree, buying five Rolls Royces a Ferrari, luxury watches four hundred and eighty Uber E deliveries in six months. twoo custom Swedish beds, which totaled over six hundred thirty eight thousand dollars, just the beds. He spent three point six millionars on furniture and days after Netflix sent him eleven million dollars for the film He put it all into a bank account for his production company, and he moved ten point five million do of it to his personal Wells Fargo bank account, according to records entered in trial evidence. And he invested over five million do into Dogecoin In crypto, yeah. But Doge coin of all coins This guy's a it's a strange guy Becauseuse his first movev was forty seven Ronin and it cost one hundred seventy million dollars to make. He was a really Scott protege. He worked at RSA, Re Scottsoci Associates, which is his production company mostly for commercials And then he was really Scott's protege for a while and then he got forty seven Ronan Um, that bombed He never made a film after that, but he went back to commercials. he's one of the most successful commercial directors of like the last twenty years But he's also got some pretty crazy mental health issues. He he He was telling people that he thought airplanes were organic sentient beings and all sorts of wild stuff and He would email the Executives at Netflix like crazy stuff. So this is a this is a really bizarre story. I can't believe he got that budget forty seven Ronin. like one hundred and seventy million dollars budget for your first film. Yeah but it wasn't It wasn't an American film, right Oh it was. Kiano' a lead I know I was the release, it was American funded, ye Jesus Christ, think I think Rad theybe was wed like's ten It made It cost one hundred seventy five to hundred million dollars and it made one hundred fifty million. Yeah. So it absolutely bombedor horrible, horrible bomb It's crazy That's not France Ford Coppola What is the story? So a documentary is being made about the inventor of the steicam, Garrett Brown I am Francis for Copfa is executive produc this project alongside Lauren Zarelli Lonard of Say what Studio And this is a look into the cameraman, an inventor whose work has dramatically impacted the visual look of cinema starting in the seventies, liberating cameras from tripods and cranes and changing the way we see the world forever. You're going to see in Digger It's going to be like alleadyame Alejandriro loves that Brown earned so many awards in his career and really change the way of filmmaking going forward Kubrick adopted his work and used him for a lot of his films and then he It really just changed the way movies were made forever, and it wouldll be really cool to see a documentary you made about them Very cool Oceans's prequel. Directed by Bradley Cooper has some news Monica Barbarro is set to join Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper as well as Wagner Moorea in the film, which is scheduled for a june twenty twenty seven release and readying for shooting She's awesome Maybe she'll play like a partart of the team, they'll have a team It seems like they'll have a four person team then. Maybe hey, maybe even a five person team, who knows I don't know, man. I don't ever I trust Bradley, man. Bradley's great. Yeah Bradley is great There's a great new animated trailer for Not Alone starring Timothy Chhalet and Selena Gomez. And this is a science Romcom which follows a mechanic and an astronaut who hide three aliens that come to Earth for safety Great trailer They didn't show the aliens until like the last two two seconds of the trailer. The whole trailer is just these two people bonding and having a connection U and it felt very classic in tone I thought it was a really great first teaser for this film. It hits theaters april sixteenth, twenty twenty seven. It looks like a movie that both adults and children can enjoy at the same time I would have liked to better a different song because they chose sppace Odyssey from David Bowie, which is it's so overus. I think space related. It's to the point where it's like Come on get it.. it's space Ovesty D. It's an amazing song and it's about an astonut but it's like, Picking every song. It, it's To always Bowie. Every space moie A man Exactly. You know what I mean? H hundred percent I love being. audienceces to know it's about space Yeah, it's like rocket ship's not enough. spacey. Guys, what if we did? what if we did a David Bowie song? Oh my God, yeah, that's so clever. And people were like they ever d before?. Oh my go. It's just like action movies always using classic pop songs for their trailers now. It's so ridiculous. That's because of Marvel. Yeah That's the Marvel effect. One more story. There's another new adaptation of Mohammad Ali's lifeife, newew Biopic series produced by Michael B. Jordan on Prime videoideo november fourth. So another movie about Ali.
