If you're looking at, I have this, I got this I went to all the callall me by your name filming locations in a village called Creama, which is where they filmed about half the film And I got this cool hat that says somewhere in Italy, which is the tech title crawl A from DelA really I saw a guy inil a video while you were there I filmed some videos , I should have done a name video. The village is set up for all the filming locations. they have maps and brochures to go to all the spots. I've good things I' give'll give I'll give a spoiler free review once we start getting into the box office because it was a big underperformer, but obviously top of the box office toy story five dominated to no surprise here. one hundred sixty five million dollars domestic at the box office. That was at the theater on Saturday afternoon and it was packed and so many kids with the The Pixar ball popcorn buckets was so funny. I was actually seeing Robinood, the death of Robin Hood and we're pretty far in the film and there's a pretty graphic makeup special fix makeup job on a character who has leprosy And this guy's getting a close up. And then these kids walk in these like four or five year olds walk in with the with the Pixar ball popcorn buckets and the mom walks in and they don't realize that what movie they're in yet. and then The mom looks up,'s like, Ohh my Godd, and I feel like these kids got scarred for life because it was a close upp on the guy ley. It was pretty funny. But yeah, Toy Story five is the second biggest opening day ever for an animated film. It pulled seventy one million dollars in just Friday alone domestically, which is absolutely absurd. Haven't seen Toy Story five yet, but I'll get it on the docket this week, hopefully Then also disclosure day doing pretty well. seventeen million dollars in its second weekend not Amazing, but it's made about ninety million dollars domestic at the box office, a little over close to one hundred fifty million dollars worldwide. It's doing pretty well internationally like most Spielberg movies do. Obsession, this movie just won't go away. fourteen million dollars in its sixth weekend at the domestic box office. It's over two hundred fifty million dollars domestic passast three hundred million dollars global at the box office, which leads to Curry Barker getting a huge deal, which we'll talk about later on Roms still doing really well It's about to pass through hundred million dollars as well, the first A twenty four film to do so. seven point five million at the domestic box office in its fourth weekend or fifth weekend. I can't remember. Scary movie, still doing pretty well. six point six million dollars at the domestic box office. It's about almost one hundred million dollars domestically, which is really well. This movie is a huge hit, bigiggest of the franchise. guarantee they're gonna make a second a seventh one next year. And last week, we had Michael Titus in stududio, the director of the film So go check that out. tons of great sneak big stuff about behind the scenes from the film, as well as potentials Soops for the next movie as well. Masters of the universe. Still not doing that great five million dollars in its third weekend at the box office, which is horrible news for them. They've only pulled fifty six million do domestically on a two hundred million dollars budget bad bad hors for them. That's aw. And also for Star Wars, bad news, four million for Mandalorian in its fourth weekend or fifth weekend the I forgot that mov existed I think everybody forgot Mandalarans out there. Another movie that both those films are going to light a ton of money on fire for their Studios, I'm talking joker levels, towers of cash being lit on fire of the mob's money, which is going be wild There's also some new releases out there Leviticus pretty low budget horror film on a four million dollar budget pulled three million in its opening weekend. Girls like Girls pulled in two million in its opening weekend, which I saw is a great coming of age film And then as we talked about earlier Death of Robin Hood. Is this the death of Robinhood movies on a twenty million dollars budget plus marketing only pulled two point five million in its opening weekend. a movie starring Hugh Ackman as well. I I was expecting it to underperform, but that's dismally low that this is time for Hollywood to just stop with Hollywood with Robinhood films because We get it seems to be a Robinhood adaptation of some kind, whether it be TV or movies every single year. It just never ends. and none of them are ever successful, especially the films And the last big budget one was the one with Tarn Egerton and Jamie Fox And that absolutely bombed. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. So I understand it's a cool new twist on it. It's based on a different source material. I get it. but again I think it's time to face the fact that nobody's interested in the Robinood character anymore. I'm looking forward to seeing this film Um He's a great director I like his movies a lot And Sarnowsky Michael's a great, really good director. I think he's a solid solid guy And it looks fantastic. It looks like if Roberthood was Northman, is that the vibe, James Exactly. I think that's the spot on vibe. The first thirty minutes of this movie is outstanding. It's brutal. There was A bit of violence in this movie that literally made me scream in the theater. I actually screamed I did. I had to cover my mouth because I knew it was coming.. That's what she said. She saidays So basically it was a great thirty minute opening. It was hardcore aesthetically was visually stunning. The whole film is visually stunning. It's so well photographed. The locations are amazing. S Jackman commits like he like no one else.'s he's amazing as the character Really great supporting cast too. It does slow down quite a bit And it's a very patient second third act that doesnn't have quite the payoff I was hoping for U but's it's definitely worth the price of admission to see. It's very original in terms of the take on Robin Hood being a villain, being a wicked person which is interesting So but I think that it's not going to have great word of mouth. I think it's in terms of theater experience for a general audience, it's not very digestible. Yeah. I totally agree, especially at this time where You know, these elevated horror films are all anyew was talking about. It's not a good time for releasing this kind of film. Maybe this would have been better in the winter. or late late fall It would have been maybe better release time, mayaybe gotten ten million opening weekend on a slow winter weekend But You know, eight twenty four made their money with backroom, so they'll be okay Yeah, I think people just didn't know what this movie was Yeah d of the day. Yeah Again, Robinhood, just stop it guys. No more Robinhood movies. This is this is the the nail in the coffin enough. It's over. But but Let's talk about the most exciting news because there's so many legacy sequels I've been waiting for the day that Mike Myers returns. As the great Austin powers. Yeah, baby I can't wait He confirmed Austin Powers four is happening. There was also a Doctor Evil World Cup commercial I'm so ecstatic I love the Austin Powers films I think they're all hilarious and they were some of my favorite movie theater experiences as a kid I remember seeing them in pack theaters opening weekends and these were just blisteringly funny I feel like people forgot how on top of the world Mike Myers was for about five to eight years with the Austin Powers movies. Yes, some of his other comedies didn't do super well like the loveove Guru, but he was the guy once he left SNL and once Austin Powers took off, he was the biggest comedic movie star on the planet for five years. He was even bigger than Jim Carerey for a short period of time They're both in their peak at the same era. Yeah, these movies made money They're very culturally relevant. The first film is still timeless. The Doctor Evil World Cup commercial iss really funny. It's a Verizon commercial. It's the whole gang's back together at the evil table. evenven Seth Green's there. It's really funny. I'm ecstatic for this because this is one that I've always want. I've always want to see Austin Powers forord and Mike Myers, he's had so many cameos and movies over the last few years like and gllorious Bastards showing up in that He just showed up in what was the mo Mich saw last week? Michael. He was in Michael for a fun cameo as well the Aourers for Yeah, Gme Gimme giveime Austin Powers for a repeat rebootel sequel, fuck it. I'll take it. But there's also another leegacy sequel in the works from coincidentally enough, Jim Cary The Grinch sequel is in the works Jim Carery's talking about coming back with Ron Howard returning to direct, which I think would be really exciting. I love Christmas movies, Hallig Gren Sto Christmas, the live act ones. a reallyally special film for a lot of people. I think they did such a great job adapting that book in the animated cartoon Ron Howard was the perfect director in Jim Cary. Who else could play the grrinch besides him? That's probably why they haven't done a sequel because they've waiting and waiting and waiting for Jim Carey to probably finally say yes And maybe the makeup process will be much easier for him or they'll even go mocap possibly. We'll see. I don't think you you can't go mocaap. You cannot go Mcaap with the Gnd. people would not want to watch it. Yeah, I bet you're right. You gott to go. I think the process is probablys not a little easier. It's just the money's right. I think that's really what it is. The money's right. You know what? And I don't mind. I don't mind it. We all love that movie. Why not o for it. Let's go. Jordan Peeel has been fluctuating back and forth about his next film. There were reports that he was going to film one this year for last year And that was canceled and was supposed to release It was ari supposed to come out twenty twenty six. So everybody's just been waiting is what's he working on? when's he going to finalize something And he's finally finished the script for his next film. Universal like always is on on board for financing and distribution Our release date in casting is not yet announced, P probablyably won't be expected for a few months, nor do we know anything about the film. I think Jordan Peel' fantastic and I can't wait to see what he does next. He's got three great interestnteresting films and looking forward to seeing what he's got cooked up for number four Yeah, personally, I'm a huge fan of getet outut Like most people listening to this outstanding film. I really enjoyed Nope. I think U was pretty good But I'm very curious to see what he's going with next, how big the scale will be. Will he tone it down and do something smaller like get out and us too an extent, but or go big scale blockbuster style with Nope. We'll find out. I'm curious. I think you can pull off either one Let's talk about Curry Barker, who's O fire. This guy Already filmed his next movie, anything but ghost sweet We have Cooper Tomlinson from Obsession on the show on Tuesday guys tomorrow. It's going to be a ton of fun. So stay tuned for that. We already talked to Michael and Meghgan from the film last month We got Cooper Tomlinson. I'm trying to collect all the obsession people like Infinity Stones to get on the show. We need to Cay Barker Deservedably so he's getting paid He just closed an eight figure deal to write, direct, and produce a new original horror film from Universal I'm assuming this is not anything but Ghosts and this is obviously not Texas Chancea Massacre. So this is probably going to be his third film after obsession because he's doing anything but ghosts Th then Texas and then this. Jason Blum, James Wan are attached as producers for Blumhouse in Aomic Monster Speaking about money, right? I think getting in the Curry Barker business every studio is trying to and these guys have have landed him Yeah and it looks like he could be Universal's next Jordan Peel, you know, lock in a director they really like, a director that makes them a lot of money. Everybody wins. So that's really smart business If anyone deserves to get paid, it's a person whose film has made three hundred million dollars off seven hundred fifty K budget. So That guy, you know, he earned that for sure. one thousand percent Let's talk about Spidererman which comes out Ver soon It' kind of crazy,? about forty days. Yeah, it's wild. So there's new te to punisher They also started press and red carpet. So if you want to look at some fun press it some fun interviews, they've just started rolling them out. But also the tickets went on sale It has had the fourth biggest pres sales in history for any movie of all time. notot surprised at all. And the new teaser does feature the punisher. I'm looking forward to this. I liked the new trailer that they dropped and they they did show that Hulk is in the film Obviously and he's going to have some action sequences is a great shot at the end of the new trailer with him jump me out through a building ch falling behind Spiderm Man. And it also looks like You know, they haven't said anything specific, but it's Is the Sambie in this film Who knows possible. I feel like I know everyone's going to see this movie anyways so they can reveal cards, but I would have liked to not see Hulk because I think that was one of the things that prevented Captain America for from being extra exciting was seeing so much of Red Hulk. And obviously Bruce Banner we knew was teased in the original trailer, but now that we have confirmation that he will become the Hulk It takes away a really exciting and twwisty part of the film Um, the it looks great. I think the action looks awesome and unique. It feels like It feels like this movie is existing almost in the Samuraami world with the style, the coloring,, the cinematography, the lighting It feels like that warm glow that Sam Rami was always capturing like that near sunset Golden hour aesthetic outside, the warmth, the interesting shadows and lighting. So it's interesting how this feels like One of the original Spid Man movies in a lot of ways, which I dig. I gota agree and I did not like the first trail that they released. I was harsh on it and I thought it looked pretty flat, but this looks a lot better And I'm way more interested in seeing it than I was a couple months ago Did you see this news about evil dead Wrath? I did not Check it out. Read it Evil Dead Wrath will take place in nineteen seventy two a decade before the original film This film has a visual look of warm grainy Actichchrome film stock fromrom that same era, which will have a ectachchrome is it will have a little bit of a greenish hue a dominance of the color green in the RG RG B of the of the film stock That sounds fun I'm down Isn't that cool? Yeah Let's go peopleople love Yeah Evil Dead Bururn comes out a month and this is really interesting, you know, film being popular again, but not just film, but people going to old film stocks, which I love. I've always wanted more filmmakers and studios tr Pursue that. You know, taking film stocks from etic of Especially old horror movies. terrific But to make your movie feel like an old film And if you want to do a prequel, why not make it look like the original prequel? Because if you shoot on an RE or a Rd or whatever No matter what, it's going to look very modern even if you said it in nineteen seventies too. Yeah, so they're not they're not shooting it on they're not shooting it on film, but they're making it look like film. The DP says But still that's pretty cool. Yeah to shoot on film. I don't think they make that film though anymore so that's probably why they have to do it digitally Oh yeah, for sure, that's exactly why. Yeah. Huge, huge, huge newsraz in the streaming world. This kind of went under the radar Because everyone's, I think, too busy focus on Warner Bothers Paramount. This is a big deal too right here. Fox just confirm they're buying Roku In a twenty two billion dollars deal, huge move, they outbid Netflix for Roku. Now Roku, why is this such a big smart move First of all, Fox has one of the biggest live content portfolios, probably the biggest live portfolio on the planet Earth. They have NFL, MLB, NASAR, FIFA World Cup, Fox News, every all kinds of news stations, weather channels All kinds of sports. They' so much Lots of viewership around the world. over a hundred million people or have Roku as well. So Roku is the leading ed TVCTV platform usings over one hundred million households globally And more than half of U. S. broadband households use Roku It gives Fox direct access to viewers home screens devices and the Roku channel for promoting its sports, news and entertainment content Rokco brings the technology, the interface and the scale And then Fox brings the content. So this is kind of tailored to each other, and you can see why Netflix was very interested in pursuing Roku bunch of money up front as well, but Fox won the bid. Yeah, it's interesting that Netflix lost another bid. So they they're they're obviously interested in buying media, but they do they do have ceilings that they give they put themselves at which I understand This is a really smart smart business move by Fox. And again, this is just the future. you know, we're getting to the point where it's going to be about five companies will own all of the media completely. and we're heading towards that. So not surprised on streaming. Yeah., it's a smart move. Did you see the did you seeer first shreck five Yeah, I mean I don't know, man. I don't think it looks very good The theaters is june thirtieth, twenty seven. There's's a lot of critical reactions to it online. And obviously when they first dropped the first image last year, Everyone bashed it and apparently all the rumors of them taking a year to rewrite and remake some of the film there are majorities of it, majority parts of it. There's no Zenda in the trailer, which is That's what's weird top four buildill person in the movie. She's not in the trailer Um You know, it has the smmash mouth song, It has the characters Fiona doesn't even speak in it. I don't I think if I remember it correctly, we only hear shhrek and dononkey talk I think. I think it was just shrek and D Yeah Okay, you're right. No, if you on a deskk Okay, she does speak It was just an odd tone. I don't know what it is It looks too perfect, it looks too pristine. Shrek always exists in this great world Dove. Fantasy meets reality grounded and gritty and a little grimy It's just, I don't know, it's just I'm watching it I know I see the characters, I see the voice, I hear the voices, but Do I feel do I feel Shrek? I don't know I didn't at all, and I honestly don't have much interest in seeing this film. I'm really interested in A new pirate film Treasure Islands being made by Ridley Scott with none other then Hugh Jackman starring as Long John Silver in the reimagining of the famous story. Now if you don't know, Hugh Jackman was originally attached to play Jack Sparrow and the partirates of the Caribbean franchise But he I don't know why he didn't it didn't work out, but then they went to Johny Depp And his jack would have been way different obviously from Johnny's So it all worked out and then Hu obviously became a gigantic star on his own And he did a really good job in paying. I liked him in pan his black beard Um, it was just like The film just wasn't strong. So I'm looking forward to him. Lacing up those pirate boots again Giving it another go. I think this sounds really fun He's got such a great beard. I'm curious to see what they'll do with his facial hair where theyll have like a big twisty mustache or something. It's going to be a chin strap. U The end of Oak Street dropped a new teaser. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year. Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor dinosaurs. It follows a family who discovered that their neighborhood has been taken back in time to the prehistoric era. Sign me up. This game apparently Releases november nineteenth But preordders do begin Three days, everybody, june twenty fifth, you can start preorddering GTA six. I think they just want to complain. That's why they're complaining about I thought the covert look cool on brand with all the other covers. this is we're only talking about GJ six because it's going to be such a big game and have such a huge impact on the world in terms of entertainment because Again, we've been tal whenever we talk about GT six, we say, if you have a movie coming out, the month it's coming out, you're fucked. You are so screwed. peoplee are not going to go to the theaters. november nineteenth. so what's coming out around there you know, we have doomsday and Avengers Avengers and Dune coming out right after Dune on december eighteenth. So hopefully people will be done with the game. Maybe they've be working with Warner Bothrosers and Disney like, hey How much time do people need to complete the game? All right, fourour weeks, fine. But speaking about Warner Brothers Lore the Rings news for let'sum Anya Taylor Joy has been cast as Serein in the film she's playing a Sindar elf of the Woodland realm I mean, if anyone wass going to play en elough When when I heard she was cast the Lord of the Rings I was like she's playing an ell Yeah, obviously she's very ellfish features to begin with like Kate Blnche had always had very There's bad news about Luca Guaninio's next film, which I believe already shot with Andrew Garfield. It's called Atificial and Amazon MGM financed it, but they're no longer releasing the film. This is a biop pic about openp AI CEO Sam Altman and Garfield will be playing Sam Altman They say the studio, the film will be better served, distributed by a different studio. So they're looking to shop it to the others U And they also it's also important to note that openpen AI just inked a major partnership with Amazon. That might have something to do with it because maybe the film I think that's exactly what it is. Okay. He worked on Raiders of the Lost Arc So he He save that. It want to What a great career So many cool stories from him. He was an excellent person to chat with and connect to and Really cool guy. I've seen a lot of he posts cool behind the scenes of how he creates sounds sometimes and it's like yeah some dune stuff.
