Thank you for joining me today. And before we get into today's episode, I wanted to share something that means a lot to me I have a piece out today in Vanity Fair, which has been a lifelong dream of mine It's about Martha Moxley's diary, the entry she kept in the weeks before she was killed in nineteen seventy five when she was just fifteen years old Now many of you have heard me talk about this case before. And you have listened to my two part conversation with Andrew Goldman about his series Dead Certain And every time that I've gone back to this case, the thing that I keep returning to is Martha's diary. For fifty years, it's been read as evidence. It's been quoted in court, in books, in documentaries, and as mentioned in podcasts But it's almost never been read. as what it actually is, a teenage girl describing the social atmosphere around her And in the only language that was available to her in nineteen seventy five, So the piece is about What becomes visible when we read our words now with the vocabulary that we have today, coercive control escalation, the labor of managing male attention, Martha didn't have those words. Most of the adults who would later read her diary, they didn't either we do now. And what comes through when you read her entries is that Light is not a girl unconsciously foreshadowing her own death It's just a girl describing with increasing precision the atmosphere around her while she was still alive, enough to stand inside it. And I bet you, if you go through and you read it as well, you will see yourself in it So it was important to me to write this because I think Martha has been talked about. for fifty years and rarely listened to And this is my attempt to listen. So You can go into my show notes. I will include it. You can go and listen to or read the article And then you can go and listen to the two part episode that I did with Andrew Goldman too, but This has been a dream of mine. I've actually kept a bottle of champagne I' refused to open it because I've made this promise to myself that I wouldn't open it until I had a big, big win and this to me is like a lifelong goal. I'm overjoyed. I'm really happy and proud about it. And I would love for you to read the piece and to share it with people. So It's going to be in the episode notes and it's posted on my socials as well Now in today's episode, I've got Rumy runun with me We're going to talk about Calabas's confidential This is a new reality series on Netflix, and it's about a tight new group of friends exes and rivals that have returned to Calabasis basically after college So it's a fun series to binge. So we talk about all the moving parts of it and the characters so you can get sucked into it. And then we also talk about Summer House and West and Amanda And we actually end up talking about my first wedding at the end. so stay for the end of it because you guys are gonna laugh and I think pretty hard So go read the Vanity Fair article and check out Ruby's podcast with Pat and Dylan called Bad TV Podcast. I know that you will love it too Here is my episode with Ruby Rub', Ruby. I've been talking to you about this for days. I really needed you to come in and watch something with me and that show is Calabas' Confidential Welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me. I am overjoyed to be here. I can't wait to chat Okay, first thing we have to talk about is what this show is. So it's about a tight knit group of friends, exes and rivals. They arere returning to hillside soak cow luxury and unfinished drama after college. There are eight episodes of seeason one, which launched on may twenty ninth And like I said, it is called Calabas is confonidential What makes this show notable? Well, first of all, I do feel like it's if selling suunset cast went to high school together and then they came back after college But also what's notable is that the cast includes several people that are the children of famous people, which include Preston Pippin, son of NBA Legend Scottty Pippin And of course, realal Houseways and Miami Star Lara Ppp Rain Michaels, who's the daughter of rock icon and rock of love star, Brett Michaels Percy Miller, son of hip hop mogul, Master P and the younger brother of rapper Romeo and Sadee Brooks who doesn't seem to have notable parents, but is an influencer known for being linked to Drake And then you've got a couple influencers that are thrown into the mix and a model So When you first see the graphic for the show and you begin watching it What are the initial feels that you're getting I was, okay, I thought that this was going to be a very bad try hard version of Laguna Beach. I loved Laguna Beach. I thought it was very fun. This was I this was very surprising to me. I really enjoyed it and initial pilot episode I I thought that they should have introduced everybody at once, but I appreciated how they let us get to know some people These people are actually dynamic enough for me to kind of care about them and overlook like the general vapid nature of kind of everyone on the show. They're all beautiful. I don't know anything about Calabasis. it was like a yeah, it's like selling suunset. It's like beautiful homes. Everyone's so rich I really I thought that it was going to be really bad and I ate my words by the end of it. I really enjoyed it. What did you didid you enjoy it overall It takes a little bit it takes you a beat to kind of get into it. And for those of you who are outside of California, because outside of California, I'm not sure how many people would ock Calabasus unless you're somebody who's deep into the Kardashian R. Basically, they put it, it's ground zero for reality TV, as we know it in the year twenty twenty six It's the home of the Kardashians the producers are obviously hoping that this is a younger version of the Kardashians. And there is one cast member who is the sister of Kylie Jennners old ex best friend Jordan Woods, who may or may not have hooked up with Tristan So they're trying to give you some sort of like a little bit attachment to the Kardashians If you could imagine a world where it's like influencers that are about to launch their product, their brand. mix with kids who probably have a lot of identity issues because their parents are famous in some respect. Now I did wonder How many people actually knew who Bret Michels is, You you know what I mean Yeah, I don't know from that generation if they do. And if they do, it's probably from Rock of loveove and not because he's an actual like nobody knows who poison is, I don't think. So that's an interesting just viewpoint to have. Good for bread So I categorized into this cast and what their jobs are. So again, we've got influencers and content creators. You've got Sede Brooks. Now she has YouTube and she did like makeup tutorials And for years, she's like an old school ish, if you will, for this age group YouTube star Jodie Woods is the sister of Jordan Woods. I don't like that the parents nam them Jodie and Jordan. I feel like that's way too close. I don't understand why parents do that. Yeah, but like, wow, those two Js are very, very close together. And I agree, please don't do that if you can help it And don't you think they're pissed about that because how many times is Jie asked, Wait a minute, I thought you were Jordan and vice versa? one hundred percent. immagine going to school. immagine Then there's Emily Nelson There's Dylan Wolf. Let's talk about Dylan. This cheese bag where he's like cosplaying a lonesome dove He rolls into Calabas's parties, which are cliffside, mega Msions, you know the deal And he's wearing like cowboy boots, cowboy hat and he has this ubiquitous pick sticking out of his mouth. Well as if he's gnawing on a piece of hay And apparently, he sleeps with all the women. In fact, he went out with Lisana's daughter, Amelia He's okay, first of all, the use of cheese bag was incredible. I really love that is Cosplaye is the perfect way to describe it. I have no idea who this person is. He is most kind of like the sober aspect of him was really shocking to me to learn. Im I would I can't wait to watch more of him on our TV screens as he somehow continues to unravel the lives of all these women It's so bizarre to me to live in a place and to be cosplaying something that is so absolutely different. I'm saying this to somebody who was just in Texas like literally two days ago I moved to Texas and walked around with a surfboard and like a bathing suit and you know, hey bra, hey bra, what's up Wouldn't the people there be like, what do you like why are you here? Right, I would hope that they would say something along those lines 'cause it is insane. The cowboy hat at these little like matcha cafes relax And then I thought, oh, this is really sad because maybe if you grow up in Calabasas and it's all and you're is that age in that age group in a place where all of the parents have money in some proximity to Fameer power, And you have this identity crisis when you're like twenty one years old, likeike what's my brand? Tough followers Medicated brand deals that you like. How do I differentiate myself from every other cute boy in this town? I got it. I'm gonna pretend I'm a cowboy Okay, I think yeah, I also this may sound very terrible and I'm very sorry phys is' holding. I'm getting the vibe that his family isn't like crazy, crazy, wealthy like the rest of. I'm getting that too. I'm getting that too. Okay. so that that's another part of the puzzle piece. Okay. So then you're like, what do I bring to the table? I can't have a party for my song release party So I have to wear this stupid outfit and then Also, they say that he is a champion bullrider, but he's a bull rider out of Malibu, California. againain is can you You know, it's like when I dated a guy who played water polo and we went to a water polo match in Maryland. It's like if you say that you're the number one water polo player in Maryland Is it a real thing when water polo is not really a thing in Maryland Right. like you should try to right, if you're the best of the worst, I guess congratulations, but probably no. And I think he, yeah, I think that's he has an interesting headspace to navigate. He's kind of like the girls that go on the bachelor. It's like every one of them is like the hottest one from their small tiny town but then they get there and you're like Oh no. everyone is like this. So he wears a cowboy h Now, he's really good friends to Sterling. and that's a second episode they roll up to Sterling's house. Sterling is from Alaska And he's in California to become a model And the first thing I'm thinking about is the fact that Sterling's house looks like somebody with three kids should be living there. It's a beautiful you, modern ish home I know people who would probably be working seven days a week to be able to afford that How is this model from Alaska able to afford a house like that And then his dad calls and he says his dad is in oil, but I don't get the sense that he's like in like in the oil, like like an executive in oil like right work in the rig. I would have yeah, I think that was probably exaggeration. I'm going to go with This guy lives in a shack. We can't film it. So let's borrow someone's house who works on said or like someone's rich friend, C we just film at your house It's a stoto bird or you know, he's pretend to be making like, you know, espresso. like the guy, there's no way A model that's like twenty three from Alaska has its own espresso machine. No, not in that house. He could have his espresso machine in a tent, but also this is might be terribly rude as well I don't think he's that even if he was trying to play that off as his own house, I don't think you're that good of a model. Like that other girl who's making bank, she just she's looking at houses and I was like, okay. Maybe. Yeah. that's a good question. like I do feel like generally, and this has been a problem that we've been experiencing for many decades, is that the use of the term model is their modern version of entrepreneur on a reality show Like if you're gonna to call yourself a model, I would like to known specific brands that you work with, how often you work because I feel like it's a blanket statement that is often used To make it seem like you're a mover and a shaker or to make someone else feel like they're ugly. Like Well, you know, I am a model Okay, Yeah, or just to make yourself feel better when you lose things to people who are not quote, unquote models. Wow, I never thought about it. is It is the entrepreneur of now Now growing up in Philadelphia area, I can tell you that there were many girls who would say to me things like, Well, I'm a model, and I would wonder and for For what? a catalog Rresshing Pagoda You know, limited expxpress, Spencer's Gifts, likeike what are we talking here? Give meific specifics, Yankee candle compomany I mean, I just think that we have overused that term and there needs to be some sort of classification system in this country. I know we have bigger issues that we need to tackle in the country, but I do think this should be something on the agenda Yeah, I think that should be added like kind of closer to the top than the bottom preferably And to your point The influencer girls, some of them to be seem to be very successful. And again, I wonder, And the good people that are listening who are in this age bracket and who are struggling with Bading a social media presence that will allow them to get these big kind of deals It seems so daunting to be a twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty four year old. In twenty twenty six in the United States of America, where it's like Okay, you need to have one point seven million followers and like by next week, they cannot be bxed. They need to be Re you need to have rail engagement You need to not only have an Instagram and a TikTok, you need a full YouTube You need to be able to collaborate with Derek Hoff from Dancing the Stars. I know you've never met him before, but you need to make that happen You also have to be decked out in all luxury items. You're going to have to maybe beg your parents, like pretend that you have some, you know access to Chanel's store I think we've lost the plot here because it's no longer like Maybe you can ask your dad if you can get a job at Goldman Sachs It's like ask your dad if maybe he can make a call that you can do a collaboration with somebody who's like a YouTube star with eight million followers R? Like how can you get a courts side seat somewhere for some game that you have absolutely no interest in going to or connection to? But that's and you're so right. And it's a weird Like hierarchy of You have these people pretending that they have all these luxury items and some of them like actually , I'm assuming. And the other, I don't know what the percentage of it's like seventy percent, ninety five, fifty percent. I don't think most of these people can afford any of the things that we watch them do. So this kind of back like backstage view of and again, I don't know if these people are I think you're right. You're right. It is a backstage view. I feel like we I feel like the good people who put this together are like we are going to like pull back the curtain on what's actually going down in a place where you think that influencers are manufactured. Like what how does this really happen I do like it for that reason because I often scroll through social media like everybody else. and I think, How did this person amass this following and the ability to be invited to all these things like What is their secret trick? What are they doing And like somebody like Gemma Durant, who works as a marketing coordinator for Kelly and Partners Group holdings mentions in the episode, oh, my uncle owns page is in Page denim and Page stores. So they're like, oh, well, that's why Right, that was mind blowing. And I actually was really hearing her dad talk when she was talking about when they got here, That was very inspiring and very wonderful. And I the thinking about like the actual this is like a laboratory for these internet personalities to be made And they're all from there is no petri dish that is the same, which is kind of interesting, But I guess the one thing that is kind of necessary for all of them is that they have to be appearing to be wildly transparent with their lives and consistent about it, even if they're not. and also really U This would be impossible for me, just on all the time. On all the time. Oh God, you're right couldouldn't do it They have to on Okay. so like we stroll past them at Malibu Market. They and somebody who's like You know, Dylan, what's up with the bull riding, he has to snap into that right away Right And like, God forbid you're in a bad mood. You just got bad news. Like that I feel like the pressure for them is so much higher than like like Leonardo DiCapria or somebody, you know M. Always be closees and follows and likes. Truly, always. alwaysways. Yeah. I mean, I kind of there's part of this that I do understand because When you have a podcast and you know this too, it's like you have to be collaborating all the time and it gets exhausting because Everybody sort of perceives them to be at some level and you reach out to some people and they're like,, they big time you. no, no, talk now, I'm too big for you to be involved with And that like can feel like somebody just took a shovel and slapped it slapp it across your head. Yeah I think this is ten times worse. Because at least with a podcast, there's some sort of substantial like content, right But in this case, It's like you have to collaborate with people because they like your bikinis. Yep. Or just like and to be frank, you're in those bikinis. L it's so unbelievably superficial. Like veryy rarely can whatever you present as show up after like you being funny or smart or talented at something. It's like, okay, you're hot and now what do you have to offer? And that's insane. And also these people are so much more susceptible to just a normal person sitting in a basement somewhere saying something to them or about them online that is like horrible horrible that that they like actually believe because like if you're sorry to bring Leonard DiCaprio back into this, but like ay whatever you want about him. He's a pretty good actor and he has the, you know, the Oscar to show for it. You being like, You fat, ugly idiot, like your blush placement sucks. What the fuck? By the way, and it's always by somebody who their bio says they have four kids and they love Jesus and they give you a Bible verse. It's always One woman wrote me one time and she said, I really think you need to like up the ante on the Botox. And I was like, huh? No And I looked at her profile And she was like a public school counselor No, swwear to God. L People are insane. inssane. insane Have you ever noticed that your sheets slip off the corners? or maybe your pillows just don't feel supportive anymore Most people actually keep their beddting way longer than they think they should It slowly wears down And then you don't realize how much it's affecting your sleep until you finally replace it. Exclusions apply You know that feeling when you go to someone's home and you think, I want to live like this. Ready to upgrade your home for way less Head to wayfair. com right now to shop all things home and get your space ready for less That's wA Y fA I R d. com Wayfair, every style, every home Speaking of insanity This this trend that's been going on for a couple of years where one can go out and a normal outfit is a skirt Jeans, shorts And instead of like a shirt, you just wear like a string bikini top Are we hitting this in the peak time or is this going to be here to stay? because all of these girls show up to Kimora's song release party And they're wearing either a bikini top for a shirt or they'll have like a cutout dress where you know, like, they would have to eeigi themselves into it Right. So again, if we're talking like backstage things I want to see, Erica Jane getting into that latex when they were in like Jan or something And these girls getting it. How did Emily get into that dress with the non sides on it? I agree. But I gotta tell you, she looks like a million in bucks. Looks like a million in bucks. They all look Unbelievable. And I will say again, that's another thing. It's kind of like being a royal. Like what if you just want to wear? Well, that's what I'm concerned about is that once you start wearing that, it's expected of you. Like of course, she's gonna to wear the bikini top. like Sadee, that's her real name S U E D E, I gu. meanwhile, I'm gonna find out her nameamess like Sarah McGuire or something But she goes by suite and at Kamora's launch party, she's wearing proropped pants that are a flower pattern with a matching flower pattern bikini top and then also a head scarf wearing it like she's about to get in a convertible and go, you know, drive up and down the, you know, the French coast you know, the coast of France with sunglasses at night. that was her outfit. So I'm concerned Once you wear that stuff, people expect that. So if you're going to show up to get a matcha, you have to wear that, you can't wear You know, loose pants Right or like God forbid Je's in a t shirt. L people will be like, oh my God, I like hey, Ohh my God, you're like you've really let yourself go. What is you're a disaster. There was there was one scene, I think it was Suede and I care't maybe Nicole or Emma talking on the beach. They were freezing, but whoever it was refused to take their very cute wrapped sweater around their shoulders off and put it on because it was like part of her look. And I was like, o gosh, ment know It's a commitment But then I also think, okay, with the selling suunset girls, they would wear You know, they would wear like the tightest little dress with eight and shields and carry a coin purse. So maybe that's just the part of it. Maybe the producers were like, okay When you sign the dotted line, we're going to forever change your life. You're going to be having deals you know, left and right But you have to understand that you're going to wear the absolute st dumbest outfit and it's going be painful. You might have bloody stumps at the end of the night, but you have to do it because that's what the good people want Yeah, and I will say too and this might get me people might disagree with this It doesn't look easy. I wouldn't go does look easy. No, Nope, ope. so even with that cutout dress. I said I thought to myself, there's no way she can have carbohydrates if she wears that. No of course she is young, so maybe The snap acts easy but I mean good luck Wow Yeah. she looked amazing Okay, the other ones, the ancillary ones, we've got Emma balances her own swimwear line with a day job as a social media manager for Mercedes Benz. I thought, is Mercedes Benz aware of that she's on a TV show because Corporate America, I would think They're gonna start looking through, you know, her hours Maybe I think shoes. I feel like that's a gripe that I hear a lot about Um is, you know, I hired a social media manager And then they're like on a trip with their girlfriends and they're doing like, TikToks when I'm like, I'm paying you, what are you doing R I thought that might not be a good decision for her in the in the long run, but she may be like You know, if this show takes off I can, you know, work on my swimwear line and be, you know, a social media Influencer because I've been a social media manager, so I know how deals work and then Mercedes Benz can screw off I'm hoping that she did the math and that this will net out more because I agree. I don't know that they would love her being on on the show. I do not think that Mercedes Bensz of Calabasas is struggling in any way for marketing material. So yeah, I hope that she thought about it, and I'm sure that she did. but the swimmar line, I feel like, and maybe she did and it got cut, but we could have like used way more of that getting shoved down our throat I kind of appreciate that she didn't do that and that it was more personality based. I look forward to seeing her her tiny little pieces of swimming material on many, many bodies in the future I'll never forget this casting director who worked on one of the Real Housewives franchises told me, If I meet another woman who is a swimweere in line, and I never forgot that So when even when she says she's got a swimwear line, I'm th, you know, like Amanda Petula, like do you have a swimwear line? Be I saw like Lizzy Al why is it always swimwear? Why I think to be honest with you, I think that a lot of dodo birds think I could be a swimwear line designer because it's not a lot of fabric. So it's not a lot of work, but what I have come to understand through people that actually work in fashion is that it is actually one of the hardest pieces you can do like like a bikini top is there's a lot of intricacies Wire, no wire, cutting fabric. style, fit, etcetera But I think that they go You know, it's kind of like somebody who's like, I want to be author and then they're like, I'll just write a children's book because there's like three words on each page Got it. ye, very hard. However, there's a whole math to writing a children's book, you know, Good Night Mon, there was a whole math behind it about, you know, how many words the tone of it, like ye that. So that's what I'm thinking is the mindset behind the bikini lines You're one hundred percent right. And also I think for a lot of women too, like the Amanda Batouas, it's like I have something that a lot of people don't have, which is like a model's body with thesely beautiful tits. So like I will make it for like those girls. And it's like, okay, go for it. Yeah, in my day, I've met a bunch of women that at some point say, I have a fashion line. and then you realize the fashion line is actually just a bunch of dresses that fit their specific body. Yeah. Alexis Couture. And you know what? good for you guys. Remember Alexis Gitor justust sl Incredible Every episode that she was in, I was just like, you can't make that up. Still to this day, my favorite episode is when she threw the the pony party for her twins and she announced that she almost died in childbirth and actually One of the doctors in my practice was actually there at that party I couldn't get over it. Thank you for bringing that back into my mind. Honestly, thank you. I hadn't thought about that in too long. God Also she made Jim Belina wear some weird like butler outfit. And then we had the carriage that like strolled up to the house like get Aless you, Alexis for that scene. Thankk you. Those kids were like, I just real I just want to have a party at a soccer field. What are we doing here? I just want some pizza then like to run around. Absolutely Um, Okaykay, again Hercy is the son of Master Pete. Did you know that he wants to be a professional basketball player Now you also apparently get like works with NIL, like, you know, name image like of stuff I just was like, I don't see this happening for you if you're filming this show. The people who are actually for real do you' want to be like NBA stars or like in a gym twenty four seven. quQuite literally, there is no time to do this type of stuff. The other thing is too, and maybe it's because I have absolutely no professional athletic prospects and never have, but for people who have parents like that, A what point do we not just roll over and say like, okay, let's be realistic. I'll just be a business person making ridiculous amounts of money way more than I should because of my family connections, like lean into your nepotism. you can still work hard, but be professional Well, I I can speak to this because I have kids are that are in athletics, right And the people who are listening to this who have kids over the age of, I don't know, eight are now screaming in their cars or on their run. They just like punched a tree I'm sorry. you realize very quickly. people mostly believe that their children are going to be professional athletes. It's the wildest thing So if you add to that, someone is as famous as masterpe and he probably has a lot of friends that play basketball They're going to think that their child is gonna to play basketball. Like one time I was talking to a kid who went to a hold backack school So he's like two years too old, you know, like okay, starts freshman year of sixteen and had been playing basketballs whole life and I said, whyy are you playing basketball? And he said, you know So My parents, know, they got me in early and we talked a lot about the whole box. I said, Did your dad play basketball Yeah. did your mom played basketball? And he said to me, Ohh, no, she was the ball girl and he named this like division one football team. So when she was an undergraduate, she worked as the ball girl for the team And So because of that, she thought person would probably be like a D one basketball player neither parent athletes, she just worked with the football team. So a totally different sport and the sport that a child played. That encapsulates the craziness that happens in the United States of America. So of course masterpieace son is going to go I want to be a professional athle But I But I would presume that in the quiet of the night Thanks to himself. I don't want to go to the gym anymore I don't want to run sprints. I just want to be an influencer and be on a reality TV show Okay, that was a really nice breakdown of the psyche both of parents and children that have this dream. because yeah, and I do think that you're right. I think the When he is going to bed and it's him alone, he is thinking to himself God they didn't give me that ear because now I get to just do this, which is what I want to do. Yeah Oh my go. Okaykay, so Kimora She also works as a DJ and a beauty influencer and she recently released a song Again, important to note that she released a song She had a party and a party at a gigantic house with lots of neon lights There was a bartender I didn't get the feeling that it was catered. and then I thought to myself, maybe that's in calibasas like, why do we have food? what's the point? Stocked bars is important Though shocking because it's my understanding that the numbers of people who drink in that age group are down quite low. So maybe just like sort of aesthetics. I get the feeling this is more of like a vaping crowd, if you will. Biry I hope to God the NBA players not vapine because that's another thing I'm going to have to worry about for the rest of my life. Um The party was thrown and You know, one time I was talking to a housewife who told me that just the first season they were on the show, they thow threw a birthday party for for their child and they spent thirty thousand dollars on it to make it look like they were like And we're going back years. so that's probably like, you know, because the COVID rates like tripled or something It was like over the top. So then I thought to myself, I don't know who Kamorra's parents are, but they must have been like, listen, we're going to go balls out. It's a TV show. You're trying to launch a career maybe not even a bad idea. Like that was the investment. mayaybe they could get a tax write off for marketing purposes. like Let's just make it seem like it's the biggest song in the world This is this type of thing is so wild when you have to involve 'acause parents do have to be involved. So at a certain point, it's not a kid. She's like an act all these people are adults. It's a family business. And I guess when you think about about it from that perspective, because yeah, this to me was very like a little bit duried book cover. And I was like, okay, sure, whatever, have a party for listen, life is hard, celebrate, whatever you wantan to celebrate and I don't want to yuck anyone's yum But just my God, it was quite extravagant. But you think you're right. I think that this does, it did make me, I mean ed her up I had no idea that she was producing music until I saw the scene. Thank you for that Yeah, So maybe it did the magic because now we're going to look up like, what's Kamomora's next hit The last thing I would say that is confusing about this show is and maybe you could speak to this because you're I feel like in the mix, you're going to more parties than I am U why the sunglasses at night? Thank you for that compliment. Let me confirm, I am not in the mix, deffinitely. Deinitely out of all mixes I have The only thing I can hypothesize because I truly have no idea and I couldn't be less like trendy of a person if I tried. I think it's a look thing. L I think these people like we were saying And by look, you mean LEWK. I do. Thank you. You are, as someone in the mix would know, I think that they truly, like it's a fit and they can't take off their accessories I would trip I can't imagine taking yourself seriously with walking into a room full of adults to do an interview, like for this show Uh. wearing sunglasses inside would be so hard to do for me, I think on like a confidence level they I will the way that they exist in the world is unapologetic And Gemma is, I would watch an entire show just on her ch. She She's the breakout star. That's for one hundred percent. Yeah, she's the one I think that Suade thought it was going to be her And do I agree with you. And I think that I think that Gemma has a really Beautiful look. I like that she does same She's wearing clothes that fit her body. She's got a style that's her own She's natural looking. I am celebrating that. a tip of ad visor to you, my friend, Gemma Seriously. And she's also like she's so confident but she's light. Like I know that she has her moments. she pops off, she claps in people's faces. That's fine. She seems to be very She's looking to be the best or looking for like she wants to be a good person and she may fall short sometimes, but I really like her. and I do credit her for being in a space where it's not difficult or not easy to be a normal looking person. And I think she's gorgeous. I hope she does not fall into any of the stupid stuff that everybody does to their faces and bodies. So yeah, tiing tyipping visors to you. I think she's great And I'm going gonna have to worry about her too. But it is important for people to know The plot point is that she's very, very much consumed with the fact that Dylan is flirting and hooking up with other girls. That's right The guy Who's causepling, lonesome dove is the person that she hooked up with in high school and she still holds a flame for And for that, I would really hope that she reaches out to me. I will be her older sister friend and I will tell her the wayays. like call me in and I'll make you laugh because I'd be like, girl, what like he rides bulls in Malibu. Like you got to move on please someone make Jemm a call Kate because she needs to hear it. She I want her to be so loved and so adored. And I think this is a tough age because you think like, okay, I went to college like you mature you do change. It's four years that you're like, whoa, kind of a different person when you come out. But then you go back and you get around the people from high school and like boy in high school Oh no, You know what I mean? Like again, I went to an old girls school and I was a loser. L I never did anything in high school, but like I saw people that were like, no, I'm going. This is going to be it and I'm gonna change him. And he is going to tell his friends that we actually do talk on the phone at forate for four hours. And you're just like, I don't think when she said, Kate at the end of this entire season Who was the one that you called when you ran away from home it ran away Yeahah, but like ran away Yeahah, but ran away from home. likeike, I mean you once you get old maybe the end of the drive. byy the way, my friend Joe to Shane highigh school. We' talking about running away. I was like, oh, I run away. He goes, how far did you go? And I An driveway. How far did you go? He goes, Florida Oh my Godd. and't stop laughing U You can't that they run away? I mean of course they're not going to run away. They need Apple cash, You know what I mean? Yeah. No. I think he was again, from kid quote unquote, from the wrong side of the tracks, not really. I think he might have got like had a moody hour and a half in which they like drove around in like her dad's Mercedes and like got like frozen yogurt or something. But that is very, and I'm not saying this sarcastically, that is very impactful, especially for girls when you're like sixteen years old. and then to not like talk to her at school the next day. Ah God Not good The last point about this show that's a sunglasses is I bring that up because I also wonder are they all Hi. Oh my God Because I'm not one to know if somebody's on drugs typically, but then I also thought, it is weird. It's ten o'clock at night and you're wearing sunglasses at a restaurant I feel so Jum Is that what they're doing? They're all high You know what? Okaykay, do you mean on like on ot or on like cocaine. I have no idea, but I just thought, what other reason would a normal If I went to dinner with friends And like one somebody at the table with sunglasses on it go Are you on drugs? Like, what's h? Why are you raing that Did someone hit you? Yeah. Oh, that could have been. Yeah, no okay, you're right. If it was a woman at this point in my life, if somebody wearsing glasses on, I might think Oh, you got like bad botks Right. likeike right. I would think that. sure I don't think that's what wow. I wonder. Okay, I don't think they're on, like you said, first of all, this generation is, I think they're more vapers than like, I don't see them like smoking joints. I don't think they're that type of crab.ight. it's vaping but maybe it is the look LEWK. I think it might be an LEWK thing. I have no idea. And if you find out, please let me know. I think this is a good poll we need to put out. And then I also have to tell you that my niece went to college with Preston. They graduated last year Wow. Did you know? He said No like he never talked like I don't I mean, no one she's like, no, I mean, guy never talked. Can I tell I went to the graduation and she was like Oh yeah, I said I saw Pippin on something. I went, Oh, like Lararsa Pippin's son's here and she's like oh, yeah, that guy never even talks. And then I was mad because it was raining And Larsa and Scottty got like this sweet like, o God, room with a view in the actual building. And she says and I thought that's what they amb be. Hey, by the way Hercy NBA startarter want to be. You got to put in the work to be able to get the nice, you know, room for your on gradation., you got to put to the work and you got to go se days a week You can't be inflencer. got you got to go the gym and work out. Yeah. And like also that's not even like that's like once you're in the NBA. L you don't just get to be like a random person that I couldn't name. like you have to be a Scottty Pippin and then you get the sweet. But But I feel like they have another son and I think he is like he's outstanding. likeike he's a really good player. So then I thought That might be hard like I do kind of like want a window into that family because they have the daughter. Remember, she was on dancing with the st Junirors and she is sometimes on housewives and it' gorgeous and I think a model But like that would be hard if you groww up with Larsa as a mom who's like a TV personality. and then you have of course, Scottty Pippin Would you feel like you were making it if you were like, I just want to teach history at a local high school You would have to be a very unbelievably strong individual. to do that. I honestly believe that. Which makes me sad He can I be and you have children, your mom and you appear to be a very good one. He appears like he is a sweet gentle boy. Very nice person. Exceedingly nice. Did't he like make them cookies? Like you know what? he should like just start a that bakery I was just gonna to say his cookies if he's bringing everywhere, when he was saying like his dad and him is kind of into it now, it was like a little Troy Bolton moment or what's it called in High School Musical, that like chef entire like storyline. Open up a restaurant. If it fails, it doesn't matter. Open up a baker. I don't know. Do something with your nepotism. You're so gentle and kind. You deserve blow your parents money to follow your passion because you love it, you know? whyy not And then I thoughtt like Sidneys sayinge likeike he didn't really talk. and then I thought, maybe he's like really shy. Maybe he feels like he has to be on a reality show. Maybe they came to me like Listen, you went to Syrra Canyon, you're on the basketball team, you're friends with all these people. You should be on a reality show. and maybe had just graduated and he's like I don't know what I'm gonna to do. I mean, I like to bake cookies and I drive a cybertruck, but other than that, I don't know. and they were like, you should be on a show. and maybe he shouldn't be on a show because he actually doesn't want to be on a show Yeah, you also know that Lara is like, you should do this. You know you should do this. Come on, you know you this is amazing for you. Come on. Yeah because she does seem like She's like all up in her kids life, like, you know, them all the time and like they hang out all the time. Again, that to me is a little bit more interesting than seeing him with a friend group from like the town that he grew up in. a grade What did you think about the bloty girl, Alexei Okay, I think a Pilates studios don't really make a lot of money. I know somebody at Plaudy stududio, they are constantly stressed out about getting people packages in the door out the door. I just don't know if it's a big like I don't know if it's a big money maker unless maybe she like franchises it, but like I genuinely feel like every person I know that is like, oh yeah, I'm a plies teacher is not an owner. I don't know any owners 'cause that I agree. It's like what's her face from OC Jen. Yeah goodood luck.ight. Remember Jen Padront's like I'mareily makeaking even and she owns the joints so if you're teaching classes, I think you're gonna get burned out. I think she wants to be a Tracy Anderson And maybe like make videos but again Let it be known, Tracy Anderson works seven days a week. She's Hostin That's the thing is like even if you think like to do you really should find what you love because it's going to be a full time job no matter what it is if you're trying to do what these kids are trying to do. And I think honestly, like, I think some of them actually might have the work ethic for it. And they look they appear to be pretty successful. They do have a ton of followers. I think they're making a ton of money I cannot discredit them for that Well, the fact that we just went on it for forty minutes about it says something. So we are recommending that people just dip into it I have to ask you, what do we think is going on over at summerhouse headquarters? Good luck to everybody. Okay, wait They're at they're in Rome West West Amanda at a wedding. Yeah. Family wedding, apparently. But don't you think it's weird somebody at the wedding keeps giving pictures? Again, it circles back to my original theory, which I've talked about on Bad TV with you and Pat I think these two are I think very early into this scandal, they were like, we're going to go our own route. And I think that they've been tipping off TMZ and backrid and all the they're doing all the leaks do something has to be going on there, whether it's the two of them or they have alerted like their publicists. I have no idea how this works to do this This is going on. I don't know how they're going to do this though. L after they've agreed to basically say like this is mutually assured destruction, we're going to You know, like leak things and talk to people and kind of go off on our own path I do not see how she is able to recover from this, especially after we see how the reunion is. It's just so I don't know what's. I agree because I think my prediction or feeling and it could be totally off, but I don't know I think he wants off this show. I think he's like trying to sabotage it all to get to get out, get out of the Brava world. I think he is like, I came, I saw, I conquered. I'm moving on. I need to get throw the net out wider. and I think She may be under the delusion that she's got a life after this, but I mean The female audience, how are you going grab their attention? like I don't know, The bikini line didn't work and they didn't buy your stuff. and now they're certainly not going to buy it because they're all mad about what you did to your friend You made us you made the female audience feel bad for your husband who sat across the table from you multiple times and told you that you should go fuck yourself for ten years, Amanda. trruly. I never thought that and I watched Kyle was talking to his mom in the city My heart broke and I was like, imagine if You just wrote it out And you you hit the jackpot, you even if you didn't get quite the Ariana treatment, you got a good portion of it Yeah No. And now instead, I and again, Siera, pop off, get your bag, girl. And Kyle, DJ your little he out. I hope that they don't. he owes so much money to so many people Oh my Godd I feel I'll tell you something else that's working for him is that Lala yesterday said that she heard he's really good in bed Stop it. I swear I got she said I heard. he's you know I'm fra paraphrasing, but it was like, wow. The guysy's got some got some action in the bedroom. So I feel like that just made him even more of a attractive person for people to go and see a couple sets. Yeah, he's eligible. so get out there Yeah, I don't know My recommendation to him is do not get married for at least ten years Who is he supposed to date now, though? Oh, he'll date a twenty three year old. come on. Okay. I was going make S things don't change, you know? any He presents to someone who will live in a community where it's just going to be a sea of veneers. Like he will keep the look going. He'll look very young for a long time. And, you know I don't he strikes me like a Tyler cameron you know, Okay. very attractive and why would he get married when there are women who are always like Hey, man, I saw you on the bachelor. Like I think what real And I do think he never wanted to be married in the first place and somehow he convinced himself or was convinced that He should have a televised wedding on the Bravo network And here we are today. I mean, I think they were miserable probably, you know A miserable four hours before the wedding. I was just gonna say this should be a PSA to anybody it is never too late to cancel a wedding. C a weddingree with. Always be more expensive, more agonizing, everythingverything you're concerned about. It'll be worse to do it through a divorce. Ccel the wedding. It doesn't matter. Please dear God, or you end up with this this is notot better, I don't think You know, I was married for a hot minute when I was like twenty three. No twenty three twenty two, twenty two twenty two Yeah, like wait, twenty two. Yeah. It was like the year after college for like Im meted a guy in the military. That's why I have all the military friends Oh yeah. I blamed the show there was a show on TLC called a wedding story. and they would like introduce you to a couple and then you got to follow them through their wedding day. Okay. And in my apartment, we didn't have furniture, so we had lawn chairs. And I would just park the lawn chair and I would watch back to back episodes. and I think I began to think more about wanting a party So when I met the guy and he was really cute and he was nice Family was a nightmare, that's whole other thing. Listen to episod six three one and six three six for that backstory But I think I got consumed by the party. and I think a lot of people do. And to your point, I don't know. Maybe if somebody had said I think you're an idiot I may have thought about it, but I really was like tunnel focused on like having the party. And I gotta tell you at the party, which was the wedding, I was like, you're annoying. I did not want to be around him at all I was like, lose me, loser. like I got I've got a dance routine. I did a dance routine with my best friend, Dan Murray from high school on the dance floor, not the spouse Kate Okay. And then o wait at the wedding Oh my God, we're doing our vowels and he's like staring at me and like wiping tears from his Oh no. Oh and I was like Ew, why are you crying? Keep it freak. My God. I mean, what I mean, it was a comedy of eric How long were you married? L a urine change That's a long year in change. Yeah for you. He was in the military, so we went on deployment. So like he was never there. So I was like single in my in the way I moved about, not hooking up, but I was just like I forgot I was married. so I would go out with all my military friends. So like all the Naval Academy friends that I had who I was just with this past weekend They were friends because they were my neighbors, and then I would go hang out with them. So he came back on deployment You know people like the videos where it's like like guys come back from deployment and the girls like run into their arms or like a baby or a dog or something.. I'm not kidding when I say this, this is horrible, but I was like, do you think you could get a ride home? No, no. I know, because I was like, I didn't like I found him to be very annoying Kate That is the funniest thing out of all the things that I've learned about you and maybe that you've ever said is that is the worst and the best thing that I've ever heard. Oh my your mind up and you were like, you're right. you're right. You're like, like every single thing annoyed me. and he was like Listen Gorgeous beyond measure and a very kind person. I would never be with somebody who was mean, never, never, never, never, even though I kind of say what I mean He was not a motivated person and you know me. I'm like, I got e I'm up late night with one eyeball open thinking about business ideas. It's not going to we were not a match and I know that he has moved on to someone else and is I'm sure incredibly happy. And I'm sure if he were on this show and You know what? Maybe I'll track him down one day so we could do an do. honestly, yeah, let's do that. And I do think it would be absolutely funny. So I you know what? That would be a great episode. He would put a t he would say to everybody, She was annoying Ohate, please find this man. I would love to listen to this. This would be amazing, seriously. And also, wow, a year and change. Well, that's why we knew about the water polo because he played waterfllo. Yeah. Yeahah. Anden by the way I was from PA and I got married and I met him in DC because he was part of the ceremonial guard for the Navy, which means all the officers that stand like at the funerals and stuff. R Again, like a military uniform what it does do a gal, right? Yeah, it's tough. And I was just like this is like officer and a gentleman and we're going to ride off into the sunset. and you know, maybe I'm going to run for office one day and this is going to be like we're going we're going to be really making things happen. But wow In the calm of the night, when you're looking at each other across a table and you have nothing to talk about It's hard. But I just didn't have family that was like, I mean, I'm sure my mom was like, this is pretty dumb, but I also felt like she didn't want to upset me And then my sister was just like, by the way My rehearsal dinner My sister shows up to tell everybody she eloped. No, Oh my God, this is you need to have this. please I need to hear about this in depth for an hour. Wait, even better. Then when I married my husband, Dann, we got married Hawaii. guuess what color she wore at the wedding? No, she didn't. She wore white No, no. Oh my God Oh my God, o, and the wedding reception for the first wedding was at my mom's house and I would go home every weekend when I was So I worked at a job at the PR firm and I would wait tables during the week. and then the weekend I would go home to get her house ready for the wedding which is okay I will show you pictures of this house Same house that I talked about in my Saturday's episode that was haunted. I will provide pictures. And I would go and I would scrub the house and did all the yardwork to get ready And when we get to the wedding The DJ was supposed to be in the driveway, which we had planted all these flowers I get to the wedding reception in this Yahoo. set up shop inside the garage. no. So the garage is open and he's next to the lawnmower and the rakes on the wall and there's a vice next door. I wanted to commit a crime. like Ary, K Absolutely y So that's another reason I want to talk to about at the wedding because I was so pissed I was like I have literally re worked a year to get this house ready and the DJ is in the garage and everybody has to look at the lawnmower. I couldn't take it. I couldn't take it. I think I did seventy five shots and that's why I was on the dance floor with Dan Murray. We were dancing too. Don Coe from Baris Bueeler' D Off becauseuse that was kind of our song. Of course. And then praise you by Fat Boy Slim because whenever we would go to bars. So literally at my wedding I was doing dance routines with my best guy friend and completely ignoring. So then we have the cake thing at the end of the night, you know, and it's like Yeah, the couple's leaving And my friends were all wasted. One got a wheelbarrow from said garage and was being wheeled around in a wheelbarrow. I was just like, get me the hell out of here. I didn't wantan to cut the cake because I didn't want to be around him Okay. Okay, yeep. This is doomed from the start. And then when we went on the honeymoon, I just the whole time, I was like, I wish my friends were here Okay problem Thank the Lord. He was deployed I know, I know, I would have figured this out way, but yeah, and then he came back and he tried to hang out with my military friends and they were like, who's his loser? And I was like, trust me, I don't know. I'm trying to lose him You know what? were you had to do the marriage to get your military friends that you're still friends with now I think o my God, they're And they are the absolute funniest, best people in the world. It forever changed my life. I am such like a devote to the Navy. They're the greatest people. and I boy, I'll tell you a window into it was realizing I will never forget my neighbors and other people I knew who sacrificed major milestones, the birth of children, graduations like things because they were on deployment. And then when you live in a military town, And you drive about the world and you're looking at other people who are just eating like food at a restaurant and you're like, Do you have any clue that someone is so stressed out because their loved one is in battle right now and they're trying to raise a child in the process? You're ever forever changed by it. That's why I think I think the next president should be somebody who served in the military. Another thing about the military is so diverse It's like the real world. You know, I was just talking to my friend about this too because when I went to or I was a boarding school the boarding school and I watched The real world I was like, oh, that's my boarding school. Some people chosen to live in a loft to find right Like that's the military too You military, You're gonna to live with people, work with people from every kind of place and situation That's why the military, they o, I think the I think Pidents. should have some sort of experience with the military. And you should I agree with you. That should be just a requirement that you should have had to serve in some type of armed force. But I also think that the our me and Dylan's dad is a spepecial Forces Marine and like our cousins and uncles and all that people. he the thing that's cool about it too, in addition to the diversity is it's not like My workplace is so diverse in this corporate culture. It's like the ultimate, most important thing is on the line for every single person that's here right now. stand every single person is looking around saying like I trust you to have my back and you trust me to have yours. and none of nothing else matters, which is pretty It's cool It's cool to think about how that is how it is. And I'm sorry that that poor poor man came back from deployment and was asked to get his own rightide home. by I think he cared though because I'm telling you, I think he found me annoying. You're right. L when you know that also like again, you make up your mind. I do think guys are kind of more likes there's something I can do to fix this and another PSA You can never You can't fix it. The mind has been made up. There's nothing you can do. I'm telling you. Yeah, he did not want to hang out with me. We mutually just did probably' like, on'ce you make up your mind about somebody, you don't want to be around them. would good. God bless, God bless. Also that he would probably laugh that I have all these kids because I always told him I didn't want to have kids You have to find him and this episode. That's incredible. I'm serious. I want to I want to listen to this He's yeah A lovely human being. his grandfather had been in the FBI. He was like retired. And he got really sick and he would go and give him baths He was a he's a wonderful person. likeike a one I have to say Despite the fact I came from like this wild family situation I really did choose people who were very good human beings, like exceptionally nice kind people I have said multiple times, the most remarkable thing about my husband is not like we live in New York and all of these people that we know
