I hope that you enjoyed the finale of Real Housewives of Rhode Island. and we're gonna get into it in this episode with Pat Hickey I hope that you're looking forward to the aftermath episode for summer House. Now you know, I've been covering this for this entire season. the Fallout from the West and Amanda affair And as we now know, it's been announced that West is not coming back to the show. If you want more on that, make sure you check out my bonus episodes because I've been explaining over the last couple weeks why I thought that was going to happen. We also discussed in this episode the Valley Matt lives in the valley so he's got boots on the ground. and I always think it's hysterical to hear him talk about what really happens in the valley and how the cast members are always trying to convince the people at their schools to come on the show Can you imagine if you're just a parent at a preschool and you meet this new parent I'm like, yeah, I don't know I'm on this television show. And then you watch the TV show and you're like, Oh my God, especially if they were on Vander pump rollles and you're like I got to talk to you about this parent at school. I just watched this television show. They were in Vegas about ten years ago and this is what went down. Anyw way, to meet a new couple And you sort of befriended them You're at a birthday party on the weekend The kids are in the jumpy house. It's almost like they're trying to sell you drugs, but they're trying to get you on the show. Like I don't know. like do you have any plans the next couple months Have you ever thought about being on TV because if they can get you on the show, that means they stay on the show So I had to ask more about that There was a show about your community. Do you think you would be cast for the show? And would you be good at getting other people to join the show with you? That's my real question for you. Please let me know what you think. In addition to the valley, we cover the real housewives of Rhode Island finale episode We have been so excited about this show because For many of us, we've been watching specific real Housewise franchises and it's the same cast members on it for years and years and years And honestly, their lives don't change that much So to have a new show, in a new place with all new cast members, with the exception of one are completely plucked from obscurity It was pretty much heaven And I would hope that the network is thinking, we need to do this somewhere else. I have some suggestions in this episode And we'll get to that as well What did you guys think of this season? Who were the cast members that jumped out at you Who would you be okay with maybe being demoted to a friend of? We go into all of that in this episode, but I have to say I really still find it perplexing that Rula does not seem to care that her husband has been having an affair. It's bizarre. And I have a theory ye, I may be wrong, but I have a theory that I get into with Pack Many of you have said that Rula does care about the affair, but she doesn't want to make a big deal out of it on the show. In other words, she just want to highlight it, hang a light on it, make it worse But if you were on a TV show and this happened to you, wouldn't you at least act a little bit perturbed Now, like I said, this does have the old school feeling of maybe beginning seasons of Real Housewives of New Jersey Do pose this question to pat How How hard was it to run through this cas with their legal department at NBC Universal Because on paper, some of these stories definitely sort of raise an eyebrow. Why would somebody who has connections to this group of people want to be on a reality show But then again We've seen it happen over and over and over again where people become so excited about the opportunity to be on a TV show. that they sort of forget about everything The consequences The other people that are in their lives, the collateral damage And that itself is a fascinating discussion So this was a super fun episode. And I hope you enjoy it. And again, make sure that you check in this week for the summerhouse aftermath review. And also I've got some other great episodes, including a really good Saturday series episode So make sure you keep checking in. So here's my interview with Pat Okay, I feel like we haveve a lot to discuss. Number one, had you watched Maternal instincts. Okay Is this the I started watching Sunday last night with my wife and we fell asleep because we had a huge barbecue party with a bunch famies over Is this the one where she fates that she has a baby? And then the doctors are like She didn't just have a baby I am about thirty minutes into this thing and this is gooders. because all right. so She meets this guy, knows him for a month. shows up at his house, buys his mother a car that gets repossessed Right? Is Okaykay. And then announces that she's inherited four million dollars and they're going to buy up She can farm and then she gets pregnant. And that's what after we record tonight, that is what my wife and I will. Okay. I mean, I'm laughing now. I mean, this gets really sinister, but yes, in the beginning, you're wondering people could have believe this, but I'm here to tell you that there are people who are able to give you that slow burn They tell you like a little crazy thing, but it's like put it in between very seemingly normal things And then they have other strange behaviors. so you're sort of like, well, that's just maybe their personality. They're a little bit quirky The having a car re? Well, first off, someone offering to buy you a car that knows you for a month That's just out there for me. And then to have it repossessed, that would be like, okay, we need to do a background check on this person. I do feel like she targeted somebody who probably doesn't watch a lot of true crime documentaries It's a good point. Like the girls from high school, they were like, this bitch has been crazy since like, you know eleventh grade I can't wait to how many parts is it And it's just one it's just one doc, just one one whole, just one deal You don't have to sit through different episodes, like you're going to get into the nitty gritty pretty quickly. I guess because the question is, where did this baby come from? That's where it gets really depressing. But yes, just brace yourself. You're in for a long ride, which is kind of interesting too because after the MackKenzie Serilla, the crash doock, you probably didn't think I would bring to you something else is crazy, but I am You've never met somebody like that who just like invents stories? I was very naive. You know I've talked on your show before about owning a tour company business down actually on Hollywood Boulevard. So a lot of the employees were Hollywood Boulevard people. you know, people that moved out there as dreamers and then it didn't work out for them and now they're trying to just work on Hollywood Boulevt. And they were there was a lot of them that were just compulsive liars and So one of them, he was a tour guide and His whole tour, it was exactly the same for years. And he would tell everyone at the end of the tour to get ready because when Beverly Hills Cop, Park four comes out He has a major role in Right? And everyone applauded he would just tell these crazy stories about all these acting gigs that he had and all these movies that were coming out. And what he didn't realize was the internet had been created since he'd started this. So you could now Google oy He was still telling the same old bullshit stories and you could easily have looked up that Beverly Hill's cop was not in production and things like that. But yes, he and he would He'd steal. yes. so u I have run into a few of those characteries. There are there's a generation of people that could have been much better scammers, however the internet was created. And that really just put a real a real linchpin in their business or helped it baby, right Yes, stay the course, watch the rest of it. Let me know what you think This week, Dallas Cowboys Choders comes back. Are you going to watch that series Now you know I like that actually because my daughter is he wants to be a cheerleader and next year, I think he'll actually be old enough to be able to join a squad. She'll be in the first grade. So yes, I think it I think it is a great television show, very positive. It teaches you have to work hard. So yes, I'm in. I think there was some drama I saw on a TMZ story that one girl was not asked back or got kicked out, Do you know what that story is Well, yeah, because I went ahead and watchhed all the episodes in one night because I'm insane. There are some old favorites that you'll see for a little bit, but they really seem to have focus this season on the new girls. So you've got and that again, is what makes shows like this much more interesting. You come back new every season and you have basic idea that keeps you coming back, but it's the new stories, which I think Real Housewives is terrible at doing That's exactly right exxcept and that's why we love a new franchise launch like Real Housewives of Rhode Island and I think they should look at what they did this year with that with Rhode Island because it was twelve episodes and it felt like a perfect storyline ar just twelve episodes in and out did not feel forced ever And yeah, it's perfect. But yes, new blood is always good. I don't understand why They don't understand newew blood is always good when it's not forced. Like Vanderpump rules, the reboot was forced It felt force. It wasn't people that knew each other. It was just they cast beautiful people and smashed them together and thought that that was going to work That does not work What do you think about the Valley this season? Are Are you still watching or are you losing interest I hate watching it They had two episodes back to back where they had apartment parties. first at Zach's apartment, which is the saddest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Actually, I lived it. It's just that he's thirty seven and should probably not be living in an apartment with a with a window air conditioning unit. U But and then we went to Swartz's townhouse which is four levels And it looks like Stevie Weonder decorated that place Yeah, between that and I just think that having people that were married in a summer house sharehouse seemed a bit odd too. At some point, I think we have to just accept that some stories should end and we should get new people. Like somebody doesn't need to be on a reality show for twenty years. So here's my issue with the valley. is there are multiple people on that cast currently that are It's so in your fith fighting for camera time and storylines that they're forcing it. Jasmine is so trying to be a main cast member. And it's so forced, it's like Are we really going to do another? look, what Danny did look He's a Th's are an obnoxious drunk that assaulted your girlfriend by smacking around on the ass and you should have punched in the face and if Maybe follow the police for. I don't know But we're on season three of this storyline. Th these are three seasons in a row we're on the storyline It's I don't know how much more hay you could make out of Jasmine Well, the weird thing too is she got married this weekend and I saw that she invited Nia and Danny. I'm like, well, it can't be that bad. If I don't know. Did something happen? You guys made up The other thing is, how do you feel about Christian Dy show I almost wish that she didn't film this season And don't know, that's like I don't want to put anybody out of work, but it just feels like This is like a really vulnerable period of time for her. and I wonder in a couple of years if she's going to go, you know, I just shouldn't have filmed. I was like really just not in a good place. trying to manage motherhood and being on this show. I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for having to film a show So few weeks after having a baby, and you could see it in her how uncomfortable she is on camera. And then I just, I don't know what to make of this relationship with Luke. I find it more annoying as the weeks go by I totally agree. My wife rans him at Home Depot last week, said he could have been nicer. But so it's so funny. with this season of I joe, one episode description in particular, really like made me laugh because it was like Christen struggles with postpartum Mia and Danny fight over who will milk Adelaine and then like the third and it was like the most depressing like if you'd never seen the show and just read the description of the episode, you'd be like, why are we watching this Yeah But it is fun because you know it is real life. Listen, people like have shitty periods of time where it's like you don't feel your best. you know, your marriage sucks You're trying to raise kids. It is real life. It's just, I don't know if people want to watch that at the end of a busy work week and they want to relax. And here's the thing. I don't think we've had a show that really captures couples with kids They all know each other trying to make it in the reality space. Has this been done before So it's kind of unique in that way. I think there'll be probably better copycats that are better versions of this because we've seen the groups of housewives and how many Xerox copies of that have been on the Wii network and VH one and all that, right? So I think there's something here because this generation that started out watching Bravo all have kids now and they might want to watch be ready for this generation be ready for that type of reality TV. It's definitely fun. I mean we' I always feel like we are one couple removed from being on the valley because we know all the people that know these people We, you know, Lal', kids and shein' kids, I won't say the name for private series. We No, they all their kids go to the same school which we know all the people that go to that school too. and u And they're always trying to ask people if they want to come on the show. Oh really? Most people were like, Yeah, and they're like, hell, no. Have you ever noticed that your sheets slip off the corners? O maybe your pillows just don't feel supportive anymore Most people actually keep their bedding way longer than they think they should. It slowly wears down And then you don't realize how much it's affecting your sleep until you finally replace it And the truth is most people think that they need a new mattress, but the biggest difference usually comes from replacing what touches you every single night. Okay, do you think about that ever because I do, the pressure that they feel consistently to get people on the show so that they can ensure that they have a job next season? It never more occurred to me than this season of Real House Woes at Beverly Hills, those layers underneath where the cast members are really jealous of each other and trying to leverage themselves and get each other kicked off or who's more important and you're worried about staying on for next season and what the things that you're going to do to try and make sure that you get on another season.. pecially your reputation so much What do you think about Swartz's girlfriend She seems like she loves to be on camera. But why is she wearing sunglasses? like what's going on? Beacause I think she's on drgs allegedly.. I hope not. He says they have so much in common, I wonder what it is. So sad. Allegedly, allegedly, allegedly. Why is he dating a twenty five I mean, of course he is. Like you would you imagine him like with a with a PhD candidate who's he gonna to be dating Well, no, I agree with you., But he is beloved in the Bravo universe. and I just think he's a complete dick. And I think he's super immature and I think he's unlikable. And that's exactly who he d a twenty five year old. And but I just think it's ridiculous that he doesn't even try. I think he is completely Just Peter Pan. he is stuck being a twenty five years That's for sure. But like let's say somebody moves to LA, you know this too you are auditioning for the very few roles that are available and they want to know like, okay, what's your social media And there's going to be a point, and I think Alala got to this point as well where you're like, well, the only way I can make a living. Because if I have a huge following, how do I do that? Well, you either have to buy followers or you have to be on a reality show, or you have to be best friends with like an influencer and that's not even sureuly guaranteed to you either. So I just think this is where we are It is where we are, but do you know how many people have over a million followers now? Like that a It does not cash in that it used to have ten years ago There's a lot more. I mean You know, when you and I were kids, they were exactly twenty two famous people And now there's twenty two thousand famous people And wasn't it while Have your kids ever been anywhere where a YouTuber walks by and they lose their minds You know But how we Mant out was at Cold water shhops, which is our little mecca of family fun in studio City and my daughter who loves America's G talent, lost her mind. or howie Mand out Yeah Well, you probably loveved that. Yeah, I do. She loves that show too. She you know, she wants to sing. There you go Well, that that's not a shocker either. not a shocker. Let's talk about Real Housewways of Rhode Island. finale episode, I actually thought it was quite slow. Are you kidding me? All right, so we have a rating system for every show that we co And we went back and forth on a million differentnce. So zero to one hundred, and it's usually something to do with the show. So We were going to be zero to one hundred Kackas Right. And then we're going to do at some point they kept swearing on each other's children's lives. So we're going to be how many children's lives do you swear on this episode? And then and then I forgive me this is vulgar. Th then it was how many slam pigs So but it's still all of. I think we're gonna do pizza chips. So I rate this episode zero Pizza chips This was the worst episode of the season, but it's so forgivable because they gave us so much in the other eleven episodes. It was really just a filler episode to show that arrest photo of Briide Yeah There was so much to produceer and involvement to. especially, you know, around the table at dinner, that that was painful Having to give them questions to answer was a real bad thing. And then the other one was the Alicia and reengagement I mean They're like, listen, Billy, to us is solid. All she does is complain about this, make it happen. It'll make people feel great. But even when he did it, she was still complaining. Oh yeah. well those two call they're the Bickersons. Let's just call them. All they do is bicker with each other. Nothing is ever in a positive light. like It's like Adriene and Paul Balouf, Yes. All right. so yes, prod you know it's producer intervention when suddenly there's a game presented like questions, right? So they ask Rula, of course, she gets the one, What's the most embarrassing thing your partner ever did in public? she's like, Oh, you know, Brian, you know, picked his nose on on the kiss cam at a Celtics game. No No girl. No, no no. No, no Can you imagine how frustrated the crew was? they get all the way to the end? they're like they're giving us zero They gave it to us all at the beginning of the season. They've lost teeam, they're over it. They're probably doing everything they can to keep them engaged for this last part of filming Okay, so Rula This is I have a question for you, o. Okay. So in the housewives world, I think the housewives, whether they intend to do it or not, was two great storylines. They come out of housewives One is Housewife comes on the show intending to liberate herself from her horrible marriage. Brunlin did it last year, right? I do believe she hated Todd and we all hated him too She probably felt a little guilt because he did help out with Gen and with the finances, but ultimately he was such a See a cat? that she needs to get out of that marriage. All right. then There's the housewife. This is my favorite storyline that is doing her best to fight off the wolves from knowing that her marriage is falling apart So Vicky Gundelson has had a murderer's row of losers Back It's just so fun to see all the girls like just pull at the string until it unravels, right? Thank you, Meghan And with Rula, I'm not quite sure. I think I figured it out You do. Okay, give it to me I think this is a new category we've never ever seen. I think this is a couple who has many businesses. and they may not even know what some of those businesses are. I think that they have a front facing business, which is You know, he is a podiatrist and an ankle foot and ankle doctor And she is the money manager. I think they have several businesses together. and the one that is front facing is the Med spa So they thought, We're going to promote the Med spa on this and that may offset attention about the other things that they do And the reason she's not really upset about the affair is She knows he has a fffairris and doesn't care, but they can't get divorced because they know too much about each other's financial situation It's too much to entangle. And I wonder if he put the GPS on her car because he's worried that maybe she's telling too many people about some of the business stuff So it's not really like I'm tracking you to see if you're with another man. I'm tracking you to find out who you're talking to. Are you talking to lawyers? Are you talking to a forensic accountants? or you like What do you do? Are you talking to producers? You try like what's going on I don't think she cares about the affair at all U, sorry to be crass. so maybe Skip thirty seconds He had a tracker on her car so that he could time out if he could finish with his mistress or not. That's why he had the tracker on. Oh, that's what you think I wanted to know where she was. But I don't think Rula cares Like every time they say to her, he's having an affair and there's this video. she's like, oh, it's made up. I don't care Tell me one woman that you know in your life that if someone came to them and said, there is a video and your husband has been with another woman and she's putting it out on social media. on top of the fact she's on a television show And her reaction is very baseline She does not care They have kids together andre they're never going to get a divorce Maybe this will be addressed during the two part reunion. Thank you for two part, bud. As we know The Sugar Baby storyline was fuddling The timing was Clearly she was done with Sugar Daddy. He let her film at the house, but that relationship was clearly over. She'd been with William, who she's currently dating now for much longer than would be led on during the filming So if you know a little bit about the mistress, are you familiar with their kind of Eanglement So she was an aesthetician working with him. They had the affair, Then it ended then he signed an NDA And then where this started coming up again is she started posting about it as we were seeing while they were filming They took her to court suing her to shut her up. And I think they won, I mean I think it might have been civil. And then when the show started airing, she took them to court for breaking their NBA because he was talking bad about her I guess the point I'm making is is are they fudging timelines Did Rula in Brian, was this in fact in the past was't in the past and not currently taking place. Was Joe Allen actually seeing these videos, but they were from the past because they made a lot of effort to make it look like it was current. Like look at the back of his car, Look at the color of his car seats, right? But could this just be Beth Walker, the mistress really just trying to make I don't know, Maybe she was trying to promote herself Yeah, you'd be pissed too. if you were like, what this guy is probably telling you, I'm going to leave my wife for you. and then all of a sudden you find out they're on a reality show. You'd be like Oh, I thought this was over between you and your wife and now you're on a reality show. She's going to be a big star of the network that I watch every show on. Held to the no Uh, It's not happening. Exactly So Rule and Brian had already, I guess, to work out to what extent you can emotionally with your marriage. So when these videos are coming out, Rule is looking at this as Those videos were from the past and I don't want to see them because she's Brian has convinced. I think that good I think that's a way of her throwing people off. That's like a red herring. Oh no, they're old First she said other fake Then she said they're old. She's doing everything to make people keep moving. like keep moving. And that might be Brian's influence because to him, everything is AI. right you go Brian Brian, here's Here's a video of you having sex with your secretary. Hey, that is AI. come on everything's AI. looking I could be AI right now. You know, Okay. you know, let's forget about it. Let's go do shots. Come on, forget about it. Yeah I mean, when the cameras go away and they're in their kitchen and the kids have gone to bed, he's probably like, listen, unless somebody has like it right in front of our us just deny it I think they're they're a very odd couple and I don't think she cares that he cheats And I don't think they enjoy each other at all. but I think they're too they have too much financial entanglement to split I want to say this, thank God, this was an amazing season, but An amazing season of housewives always requires a main storyline, a through line that goes through the entire season that you just, well, you're going into the little anc ancillary storylines. you're always looking for boy. I hope we get to rule in Brian. I hope they catch him at this party. I hope they nail him down, which they were unable to do the entire season. That's how slippery he is. U And so they had that. So I I think this I think these ladies are going to be able to deliver because I just think there's so much criminal activity going on behind the scenes that something's going to blow up almost every season I Maybe or they're just this is the way they live day to day. So they're just used to it. The fact that they went on that trip, then the bus pulls up and they're like,, you know what? we'll meet you up on the We'll meet you guys up in about an hour. We just have something to handle And then you find out it's like, The mistress was like trying to get on like get on camera, right U Well, she remember she was posting videos, I think actually trying to promote a product with a video in his backyard knowning that the other women on the cast would see it and talk about it and then it would be discussed on the show so then she could be somehow involved with this television show Yeah, She' butt But the way that they were not rattled by it and they were like, well, we'll meet up with you in an hour. like if it was a woman who really cared about the mistress, she'd be like Who is this bitch? I'm not filming, like you would go crazy, but she was completely, you know calm about it. This has not been the first time at the rodeo for her. U ye, I felt bad for. I know she drove a lot of people crazy because she didn't show up to things all season. To have Joe Allen go up to her, especially in this episode and go to her room and go look, I got this video. Look, I just I want to show you this video just because for myself I don't want to be considered a liar Oh, you're doing this for yourself. Like you're gonna destroy this woman. They're on vacation at an island called Block Island, which dare I say, needs some new branding That was film in the summer and this is why I can't live on the East Coast. They were It looked miserable. It looked cold, it was raining, and it was probably at the end of August Say what you will about Los Angeles You can drive by an unhoused individual Very frequently, and he's lighting a tree on fire or him stt and talking to someone that doesn't exist in front of your kids. The beaches are always warm. I don't think there's going to be any I dont know what's going to be revealed at this because Brian and Rula are still together Of course they're still together. Yeah One could T some degree that their reunion would be a little bit better because by then I think they've all seen each other on camera and they have enough people that are like, you guys need some work. L you're not good just reality thing. You put it out at the end. And then it's in Liz's earars. somebody saying, you know, you really need Dolores back because Dolores brought stuff out of you I do think Liz was probably high the majority of the times that they were filming. And the other thing is I thought it was weird when they showed a flashback to their wedding on Block Island And they blurred out the officient. Was that Kelsey's redacted boyfriend? Was that somebody who was a criminal? Who was the officent? Who knows? but have I brought this up on your show before Dino who's been indicted for cocaine distribution When you're in your fifties, who is friends? good friends with a mid level drug dealer in Js Yeah, that's who are these people I know And then Brian's putting the GPS on. Like this is a group of people that I would assume there was a lengthy discussion with the general counsel over at NBC Universal. likeike what do we have here? Because remember when Realhouse Iys of New Jersey When they were beginning the production of that first season, it took forever for them to sign contracts because the mananzos like made them go over with a fine tooth comb I mean, that's pretty interesting. It must be like they must have run through a lot of stuff through legal God Well, I know Liz was under investigation because of the Dino thing because they thought that her and Jerry were funding Dino's little side projects They don't have proof of it, but I Who knows Something could drop there. but that was the investigation. All that went on between twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three. But as we know with the Bachelorette, these production companies don't exactly do their due diligence Yeah, that's a tough one. I argue ABC all they would have had to do was read a police report and probably knew that was not going to be a good pit. the other end of it, you're like, okay, you could pick up like six people that live in Toledo, but would they be this like willing to be on camera and be this weird and and getting fights about whether or not you're homeless, they may not have. I bet you it was probably and this would be a great. question from an executive producer, and I've tried very hard to get somebody on What was the genesis of the show because maybe it was pitched to something else? And then they were like, this is just better as a real housewives. Like was it was it called like skketchy Business USA? Like what was it Right. By the way, was it you and Heather on TC Soop talking about that Dorit had actually filmed a sizzler with boy George living in the house. And then you guys also say that Bose had created her sizzle? We suspected that she probably did I think a lot of people come with a sizzle and they're like, okay, well, you're willing to put yourself out there like you're great, but your idea is not so great, but maybe you could work on something else. And that's why it always feels like a little bit weird at first. And then and then the cast members like, well, I'm not going to make any judgments I'm going to get to know that everybody first It's because somebody has been said to them, We know you've watched every single episode of this show. You have to at least act like you don't have these feelings already so that they can everyone's going want to film with you. because if you've watched every single episode of the show, you're probably gonna like I would assume Bose maybe was like All right, well this person I find them really annoying and I can't stand it when they do this. But she has to she to play it off like she'd barely watched the show And if if you're going to NBC Universal to pitch a show, obviously you've watched the different shows on the network. one hundred percent. But by the way, that show idea with Boy George. was like that was a better idea than her being a real housewife of Beverly Iill. Yeah, I agree. That would have been fun. And that was probably twenty thirteen. That was still in the head of reality TV where anything went.
