And this may sound extreme, and I'm probably being being a little emotional in saying this. Get AJ Ewing up here now . This kid earned a promotion to AAA . He goes to AAA . He's making diving catches. He's five for seven. Screw it. Let the kid learn at the major league level. Isn't that a great opportunity for him? I know there are two ways you can go with that. Like, do you don't want to rush a kid? You don't want to overwhelm a kid. He looks so awesome in the minor leagues that maybe he's that good. Maybe he comes up here and he performs at a high level . Am I rushing him? Maybe I am. Maybe I just need something exciting for us to watch. What do we what does he need? Three weeks of triple A? Two weeks at tripleAA A. What does he need to do down there before you say call him up and let the kid play? Let him play center field. Give him the job. Let's go. Nick Morabito, same thing. We don't need to see Austin Slater. We don't need to see Eric Waggaman. You've got a kid down in AAA , and and more be those numbers are okay. They're not tearing it up. I think last check about 250, 800 OPS, which is pretty good. Has speed. He's athletic. He's on the 40-man roster. Get him up here . Get him up here . So I think the infusion of youth, which has saved seasons before, ask the Yankees, 2005 was saved by calling up Chen Ming Wang and Tony Womack. No, Robinson Cano. They benched Tony Womack. They moved him to left field. Yeah, Tony Womack was not the infusion. He was affected by the infusion . So what do you do besides whine and bitch on a podcast? I'm talking to myself. I'm offering solutions. Tobias Myers to the rotation begins stretching him out. Mania to the I. L with his bone chip issue. Peterson to the bullpen where he could have a chance to be a bulk guy and then maybe a key arm out of the bullpen. And I want Nick Morabito and AJ Ewing here immediately. And I ain't that far away from making that same call to Ryan Clifford . But that's where I'm at right now with this team and what I would do as they embark on a nine game road trip again against crappy teams . You know, you can knock one out of the park and raise the apple with Takara Chuhai, a sparkling cocktail that blends real sho chu spirits with the delicious flavors of fruits locally grown in Japan. Available at Citi Field and Fuji Apple, of course, white peach and lemon. The manager Should they fire the manager? Look, I'll save that for WFAN because that's apparently all we talk about these days. I've already made he should be fired. He should have been fired two weeks ago. Sleep number to a good life sleep I'll make you this prediction though and I don't know if Hoffman's uh available to talk he's done a great job of uh not only getting the Rico on the air at a reasonable time because I wanted to do it live on YouTube at around six so I could at least start the nick game not too late. Uh, and have a reasonable evening. And Hoff did a great job of balancing not only producing the Carton show, but also getting the Rico up. So th I'm sure listen, this is a must in our life right now because I don't know what else we could do, but I think it's therapeutic to hear you talk about things that I want to vent about too. So thank you. Well, thank you. Thank you. Now we're done kissing each other's ass. I'll make you this prediction, Hoff. Yeah. I think Mendy's getting fired in Anaheim because I think life is one giant circle. And since Willie Randolph was fired in Anaheim in 2008, me, Beningo, and Giannotti were there for that series . I gotta have a weird feeling, and it's not gonna happen right away. Firings timing-wise are sometimes odd, like even the choral one in that they won a game and then they fired them. But I got I could just see it now. David Stearns doing a press conference with that freaking angel logo behind him and him talking about it was a tough decision, but I came out to California and I had to do it. So I know we're all calling for it. I think everyone's kind of on the same page that this team's got to try something, including the manager being fired. I I have a it's Anaheim or it's never happening. That's that's where I stand right now, Hall. And now Willie was fired in 2007 or 2008? 2008. They collapsed in 07 and then let him start the year in 08. They were hovering around 500. I think they were like 44 and 45. So it was halfway through the season. And they fired Willie Randolph in Anaheim. Awful win. Off a win . So so hear me out here . 200 6. The Mets are a game away from the World Series. They're in the NLCS . 200 24, Match is two games away from the World Series, the NLCS . 2007, they collapse, they lose to the Marlins . 2025, they collapse , they lose to the Marlins. Do we do we end the season with the Marlins ? Well, we're not collapsing. I think we just suck. And I think that's where the symmetry may just end. But in terms of all of that, and then the manager getting fired in Anaheim. Yeah. I I almost expect Saturday night. I don't know why. I got this weird Saturday night feeling that I'm gonna call you or you're gonna call me and be like, hey bro, he's gone let's rico at 4 a.m I can just feel it I feel it in my bones right now you know and listen it's not right again uh it it's not right because a Carl Spendoza , he's not to blame for this whole entire mess with those other things there. But it's also not right to go to LA just to fire him at this point in time. Don't let him get on the plane. That's my issue. Yeah, I think the problem is because I've always tried to figure this out with firings. Timing of it is very strange. And I thought Dave Dumbrowski did a really good job of kind of going through the timeline on what happened with Rob Thompson and their pursuit of Alex Cora, 'cause he admitted they tried to get Alex Cora and he said, I want to spend time with my family. I don't think it's as simple as we want it to be, which is okay, that's it. They suck. We're firing you. Because you need to figure out who your plan is, what your plan is. And you also want to inform people in an amount of time where it doesn't get leaked out. So I think what happened, because think about the Willie situation. I want to remind people, because it's weird. They won their final game of their homestand, flew to Anaheim, won another game, and then he got fired. So it was odd. Now I agreed with the decision to fire Willie Randolph, and I love Willie, and I I sort of all these years later feel bad about it, but I understood what I was thinking at the time, which was the team was coming off a collapse. They were mired in med iocrity, they needed to try to hear a new voice. And it worked to a degree because the Mets played better under Jerry Manuel. But doing it after a few wins was always odd. I remember saying that to Joe on the air, like it's not the 3 a.m.. part It's the whole why now. And so sometimes it is odd when the timing is. And right now with Mendoza, clearly David Stearns doesn't want to fire him. I don't think Steve Cohen wants to fire him. I think they like him. I think they believe in him. I don't think they blame him. They also know that firing him is admitting that you screwed up. So I know that they are hesitating, but eventually you have no choice. Eventually, you have to make decisions that you don't like. And so I think they're gonna come to it. Because I have a tough time believing Mendoza's managing a full season in which they lose 95 games. Like, could that really happen ? I mean, it could. If if David listen, the one thing I'll say this much. Last year we gave credit to Stearns or two years ago we gave credit to Stearns for flipping around things that he didn't like and it wasn't working well. But there's always been a piece of him that's kind of like the Billy Eplers of the world. Trying to to to push the you know Daniel Vole back so down roughs down our throat because they there's a reason why they're here. I know I I mean is David Stearns gonna say it's not his fault. I know it's not his fault, and I'm telling you right now it's gonna turn around and this is the guy to turn a round. I mean if that's the case then we might be stuck with a volume
