I was skeptical if you've listened to the Rico that he would make this start. I thought that this was an easy chance for the Mets to have inserted Sean Mania. Obviously, that changed once Mania pitched on Thursday, but in the lead up, you know, looking at the St. Louis trip, I thought it's a it's an easy excuse. It's an easy, we need to get Manaya a start. We push Sangha back to Tuesday at City Field. It gives him a few extra days. But it feels like the Mets challenged him. It feels like the Mets said, you know what? We could do that. It would make life easy for Shaw Manaya. We'll give him a start. Make life easy for Kodai Senga. Keep him with the extra da ys. But it's like the Mets said, you know what ? We need you to pitch on regular rest . We can't always change things for you. So it's early in the season. It's not the end of the world. If things go bad, go out there and show us what you're capable of. And I thought for the most part, Sango was really good. Two-out walk in the first, got through it, struck out the side in the second. Uh, one, two, three inning in the third, got through some trouble in the fourth, leadoff hit, double play, walk, round out, easy fifth inning. Actually, it was helped out by some great defense by Jared Young. Incarnacion hit that liner off the wall. And that was Young, who's not played a lot of outfield, making a great kind of read, knowing let me field this off the wall. It's hit so hard. And then a perfect throw to Marcus Simeon to nailing Carnacion and shortchange what could have been a rally there. Look, his only issues were the sixth inning. And two of the three hits he gave up were bloopers. They were Texas leagu ers . But I mentioned the Mets challenging Kodai Senga by even him having him make this start. I also thought they challenged him in the sixth inning. Keep in mind the Mets have an off day on Monday. And as I mentioned earlier, they've got a pretty fresh bullpen. Pretty fresh. Devin Williams is available. Luke Weaver is available. Brooks Rayleigh should be available. I mean, those are your A guys . And again, you have an off day Monday . So in the sixth inning, when Sangha gives up the blue fit to Patrick Bailey, he gets the next two guys out. He gives up an RBI double to Matt Chapman with two outs. Ball was hit hard. He's at 86 pitches, and Rafael Devers is coming to the plate. And I thought Sangel was done. I did. I thought he was done. I would have taken him out right then and there. And I guess because he didn't have Rayleigh warming up. If Rayleigh was warming up, you you just go to him. Like it's easy. Rayleigh against Devers. But we've talked about this before that Was kar Brazzaban struggles against lefties . And Brazaban was the guy warming up. And I I forgot to mention his name. We talk about all the relievers that are available. My apologies. We saw him in this game. Uh Devin , Weaver , Rayleigh, Braz ban, Fulbulpin. The new LinkedIn hiring pro can't undo your last hire. So if they were afraid of Brazzaban against Devers, the easy answer would have been put Devers on Walkham and go Brazzban Ramos, which we saw one batter later anyway. But they let Sangha face Devers. So I'm going to call this one like a stalemate. I disagreed with it. I would have taken him out, but I don't get any victory here because Sangha gave up a bloop to Devers. It's not like Devers hit one 110 miles an ho ur. But I thought he was done. And with a pitch count at 8 6 in your second start of the year on regular rest, I just I didn't think there was any chance they would keep him in. So it feels as if it was another example of the Mets challenging him. Of the Mets saying to Kodai saying, All right, big boy, let's see what you're made of. Much like you're going to make this start on quote unquote regular rest, four days rest, we're going to ask you to push yourself, find a way to get Raphael Devers out. Who cares what your pitch count is? Find a way to get him out. He didn't, unfortunately, but it was a blue. Brazzabon does a great job as always, gets out of the sixth, pitches a one, two, three, seventh, which had its controvers y, the bunt by encarna cion , in which they caused in a called interference on him, which which is true. He did have that step on the green grass. And then Luke Weaver did a great job. And Devin Williams comes in with the three-run lead. And again, he wasn't perfect. He gives up the leadoff hit to Matt Chapman, who I cannot figure out why Matt Chapman was stealing second base down by three runs in the ninth inning. Unless he thought, like he just assumed that it'll be indifference. The Mets will just allow him to go to second base, which you see a lot. It's very common. I write it down in my book all the time . I label it as DI, defensive indifference . But Matt Chapman is running to second base with a runner on first and nobody. What are you doing? That is, I tell you right now, that's worse than what Lindor did. That is worse than Lindor forgetting how many outs there are . Because there is no reason whatsoever down by three runs in the ninth inning. Unless the first baseman is playing 30 feet behind you, which Vientos wasn't doing, and it's an obvious, oh, I'll take a huge lead, I'll get there easily. You cannot risk being thrown out at second base. That is some dumbass crap. And for a guy who was caught on tape virally yelling at his first baseman, you got some stones, bro . Cause that's dumbass baseball. That's what it is. And I'm not complaining because it benefited my team, but my God . So I don't know. This night then it could have looked a little bit different
