Is it a robot robot or not? John Listenter Mohamed sent this into robot at the inccomparable. com. I recently came across this tennis quote robot and was curious would John consider this a true robot? So this is a product. Ace mate It's called the world's first tennis roobot for real rally playay And what it is is it's like a thing with wheels and a stand and a big net And it seems to be what it does is it can see where you're hitting the ball catches the ball that you hit at it in the net. And then it shoots another ball that's down below in its tennis ball cannon. to you and that moves around the court. But it what it doesn't do and I think this might be next level for a rally robot is have a tennis rackquet and hit the ball back. Yeah, come on. You know what we want here. It does feel like, I mean, I opened I was like, this is going to be good. And then I looked at it and I'm like, but there's no why? How? And then I realized, oh, what it's doing is it's catching a ball and then shooting a different ball back at you. Do you have a picture of it's a stationary thing. It's like a fixture. No, it moves. It moves. There's a video on the kickstarter page that we got sent. There is a video if you scroll down that is and there' some there's some animations and stuff. It does move around binocular four K camera powered. It will give you instant feedback on your Apple Watch U So it will move. Oh I see. Okaykay. Yeah, I think I've seen this before. Yeahah, that's that's I feel like they're really It really disappointing. like you do want it I've seen these things before. you really do want something to like H hit a fall with her. I know it's hard. I know it's hard, but like That's what you bond. Well, it's two point four million dollars in this kickstarter Um Yeah, I would say this is a robot. I mean it it's a crappy one because it should really be hing the ball with a racket, but you know, it's got its job and it's going out there trying to move itself around and do its job and its job is kind of dumb but it's a robot. Yeah, they made a pickleball version too. There's a YouTube video of that. So yeah, you're right. It's totally a robot And it's good enough that it will let you practice. I mean, I used to play, I don't know how I know you like tennis. I used to play tennis when I was a teenager. My dad actually built like a wall in our driveway so I would have a wall because he got tired of hearing the tennis ball hit the side of the house. I just hit it against the house, ye And I mean, and so this is better because you could go to a court and just byy yourself as a lonely person and it will hit it back to you, which is great. First off, it's yes. I I feel like this is If there's like a level one of tennis robot, this is level zero, which is it doesn't actually return the ball. It catches the ball and sends a ball back. before it tries to catch the ball because this thing does not move fast. So I feel like you could easily get the ball back. That pick Ball video, it actually moves faster than you'd think. I'm watching it, I feel like I could winners off this thing all day long. But the whole point is it doesn't need to catch the ball becausecause it's got hopper full of ball so it's just gonna to shoot one back again. If it doesn't catch the ball, it emulates where the ball went. So so my other note is, I'm unclear about whether this thing so like in baseball these days pitching machines that are capable of showing video of a pitcher's delivery. Hving the ball emerge from the video of the hand where the pitcher delivers and have it be with the movement and spin rate and everything that emulates particular pitcher pitches from a pitcher. So my question about the ace mate is when it receives the ball, is it calculating a virtual swing back With the appropriate angle and spin on it. It seems like you could it has the ability to send all s of types of shots. I'm not sure how it decides or whether you have to program it, just say, hit it back to me with top spin, hit it back to me with slice, when I go wide do slice, when I go straight out like you. Right? It has choices. I'm assuming it has the ability to spin, just like the pitching machine has the ability to spin and there are many spins it can choose from I saw doing loobs before. So if you want it to lob, you know, you could do that So do your practice of that And I'm not sure how it decides. Maybe it's configurable or something, but Mohammed, the answer is it's a robot, but we're not happy about it We want to see hitting a ball with a racket. Yeah, I want Yeahah, I want a robot with a tennisacket. That's what I want or paddle ball racket, whatever has to be faster than this. And it's probably going to be faster than this. Yeah, That's true Lower center of ground. My worry about the about the ace mate. in watching the videos of it is that if you hit it a little further out, it's just gonna tip over. Yeah. Yeah, it looks a little unsteady. R or n
