Summer is a gift. a gift of days that last a little longer, a brighter state of mind So giveift yourself a new Kia at the KIia Summer Sticker Sales event, Epecially taged vehicles including the Sernto, Sportage, Carnival, as well as the Nuro Hybrid. All backed by a ten year one hundred thousand mile limited powertrain warranty. So the gift of summer can keep on giving for summers to come. Kia Movement that inspires. Call eight hundred three three three fourteen for details h J safy event and seven hundred six twenty six to deealer for warranty details Hello, on today's episode, we talk about the GOP being completely outraged at the prospect of setting a thermostat at seventy eight degrees and also their newest moral panic, birth tourism He, hello, welcome back person only Podcast I'm Katie Stle That's true. Hi, I'm Cody. Hello. Hello Cody, Johnston is what's also here Gooddayce. Uh Friday july third What is it? Air conditioning Appreciation Day Oh, great. Oh, surely that couldn't possibly be relevant to the news. Oh, has there been discourse? That would be There has been some discour. First off, I want to acknowledge the heat dome that a significant percentage of our listeners and viewers are suffering through right now. I'm sure you appreciate your air conditioning Even if you have to set it to seventy eight degrees or you've been encouraged to set it to seventy eight degrees. Critical distinction of you have been encouraged and mandated to. So you know what happens every summer basasically when there's a heat wave the local government, state government says, hey, this is going to put a lot of pressure on the grid Help us out and turn off lights when you're not using them and keep your thermostat set to seventy eight etcetera, etceter Common We've all seen it a thousand times. I I'm getting mad. but I saying that getting starting to get really mad. Well, you might be getting mad because New York City mayayor Zoron Mom Donni. Oh tweeted that. Nork It's hot outic. And the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool. Set your AC to seventy eight degrees, turnurn off lights, electronics, you're not using unplug what you can This has set the entire American right into a complete frenzy as if it's one the first time it's ever been said by any elected official before and like government agency. And two, as if it is like some sort of communist mandate and not like Hey, we're all in this together Are you sure are you sure he didn't say that people would go around and arrest you if you didn't set H AC to seventy eight You sure he didn't say threaten to arrest people? I'm looking at this post let's see, our city is doing its part to maintaining the seventy eight degrees rule in our buildings, a stable grid means the AC stays on and lives are saved. That makes sense, right? No. No. and it's just a rant Old enough to remember. In twenty twenty when there were fires everywhere and it was a heat wave And we also had the recommendation. Thrmostats not set too low to conserve energy and it's all government overreach No, do you want the grid to continue running for everybody? Not at the cost of our freedoms, Katie. This sharia communism is like I I'm it's too it's There's no turning back now, folks. Obviously all governments and all mayors say this. and obviously there are examples of Greg Abbott. doing this and every mayor before Zoram Donni, but For some reason This one makes me really, really, really mad. I would like to read a few responses to this that I agree with And all these people are genuinely mad about this. It's not like some sort of weird astrurf coordinated reaction to something so innocuous that happens every fucking year. Um, but for example, Lindssey Graham F firstirst AOC tried to come for your stak and ribs. and now the socialist Democrats are coming for your AC. This is the future that woke all caps Democrats want, not just for NYC, but for South Carolina too. New York is coming for South Carolina folks. Get out while you can Oh Lindsey you're so wrong. New York's gonna bring I thought culture in theater in South Carolina. You're right. No, I do agree. Oh, Lindsey, you're right. Oh, oh, and Nikki Haley, quote tweeting Zoron Mom Donny, or as they like to say, Zorhan, M Dami Welcome to socialism, says Niki Haley. Turns out socialism actually isn't free, says Sarah Huckyby Z. That' so embarrassing. This is what socialism looks like, folks, says Vvek Ramaswami. or Brandon Gill Welcome to Socialism, or Spencer Pratt. Communism always goes the same way I think I I don't I don't here anymore. Although there is one really funny one I have to say. There's this one guy. He's one of those prank tubers who went he went out to, I believe, Springfield, Ohio to prove that the Haitians were eating the cats and dogs, which he did not prove in his videos. If anything, he proved that a lot of people there depend on welfare and wanted and are upset about not having it. but whatever he posted picture of thermostat. sixty degrees And he said, Enjoy what you voted for in New York And then and then replied, Libbs can't even take a joke No, this photo is not real I don't know either. I also said, what do you mean the photo's not real? Where's the joke? Did you photoshop of thermostat to say sixty? Is it AI? Does he live in New York? Did you not take a photo of your thermostat? What do you mean the photo isn't real? It's absurd. I thought that was funny I find seventy eight to be a bit warm for sleeping. H It's supposed to be eighty two, It' supposed bey when' sleep. ideally. Yeah,'reosed It doesn't matter. But also you're supposed to it's supposed to be cooler when you sleep But that's not what Zoron says So you don't have to be mad at him about that. Be mad at me for I have at you, Johonn. Department of Enerergy St standards. sorry There are things you can do to cool out. if you guys If you're watching this and you're frustrated at seventy eight degrees and you want to do it, but like it's a little too hot Get an ice pack. I don't know. like I'm not pretending like you're gonna have a great sleep this week, but O Al just Yeah, or O This is America Just ignore him. It's ignore him.. It's a tweet that gets sent out you know, the Texas sends them out every year Governor Abbott provides update on severe winter weather impacting Texas and it says, you know, we have to conserve energy And I'm sure he ignored that Right like Erk Adams did it No one's going to come for you. no one's going to cance you. Liani did it like twenty five years ago U Speaking of your point, this is America, Jonathan, I like to read one final quote tweet from a Matt Walsh. Matthew Walsh. seventy eight degrees. My AC does not go above sixty eight in the summer This is America for God's sake. What a rugged masculine guy who needs his perfect temperature controlled thing. Okay, okay, mister Rockefeller You know, it does it does sit in stark contrast with the presentation of himself he wants to give to America It sure sure isn't direct conflict with his opinion that all all the soft millennial metropolitan elites in their AC again, here we are Every time you bitch about socialism and create it into some boogeyman that it isn't and people see right through it. You're kind of just Advertising for socialism, Also if, you know We all try to do our part. I don't have to worry about it. My house does not have air conditioning. And I will probably be a little peeved if during a heat wave the grid goes out because a bunch of other people were cranking it Uh, And you know what I mean? after An evening, but you know like the guy at the The fair the state fairs. Yes. Oh, yeah, should watch that clip.. Yeah's a clip right here guy cranking it at the Americ His AC is he brought an AC to the state fair and he was cranking it w. Well, it's a really old AC unit. So you have to you have to do one of these. And it was drowning out the noise. The person who was there couldn't hear the band on stage The other thing That they are still like so and it's also very similar because they're pretending a thing that's existed for a long time has existed. they're pretending. is theyre pretending birthright citizenship hasn't existed since eighteen sixty eight or what have you? U, And so now There's a whole moral panic about birth tourism which is when People plan they're like eight and a half months pregnant and then they sneak into the country just so they can have a baby that becomes an American citizen and then then they take them over back to their other country. and then twenty years later, they run for president and then we have a foreigner as the president is what I have legitimatelyard It's more about voting. It's more about saying that that's our way of rigging elections, I guess. But I don't understand eightighteen years from now. God Is that right? All of a sudden There's this whole long game thing. I thought we were importing twenty million people to do it right now. but no, we're like sneakily bringing in babies who will then guaranteed vote for Democrats in eighteen years. Well the babies sign that deal. I'm sorry, Jonathan. you are so woefully unprepared for this conversation When the baby comes out We give them paperwk to sign and assert that they will be voting Democrats in eighteen years. And that Always how it's worked. along with millions of dollars in welfare apparently, and they're just on easy street forever No, I mean, there hass been like, you know, Mark Wayne Mulland, the DHS seecretary hass been talking about it Stehen Miller, Todd Blanche, all of these ople are like, well, now that the berth tourists can just come here and take over And they're also pretending it is a much, much more common thing that it really is. I looked into this And Center for Immigration Studies, which is an anti immigration group You know, they want this number to be really high. At first they estimated it could be high as high as thirty three thousand babies per year. Then the Niskin and Center pointed out like, oh, you did some math wrong, like some basic arithmetic wrong and there's some issues with your methodology. And so they corrected it to be between twenty thousand and twenty six thousand a year. and then the Niskin and Center said, I still think you're doing this wrong. And based on your own methodology, it's probably max two thousand a year, which would make it one twentieth of a percent of all the babies born in the United States a year. And also are they pivoting? So all of a sudden it's not like u hordardes caravans from Central America coming in. it's like Chinese and Russia. Right What is it then they're also split about what Some people don't seem to care about that specifically versus people trying to you know, immigrate here and live here. I don't know what the argument is. I don't know what they're most concerned about because there's there seems to be a splintering of opinions. Yeah. I mean, it's real disgusting what they're doing and also extremely confusing and wrong. I do think there's a little bit of flailing going on here. Like they kind of don't know what moral panic should be what the culture war should be now because that's what I'm getting at. Yeah. They're straddling the fence between uh birth tourism and u The Zoron wants to take away your air conditioning. Oh Yeah.' take it Mon Dami because AOC wanted to take your ribs. It's just any sort of like suggestion of like, well, what if we did this to try to like mitigate this or then it turns into so you're mandating that nobody can go outside It's they they don't it's absurd. They have to be angry about something. They have to be angry otherwise they're not mobilizing their base. So you're always going to be angry even though they got quote unquote wins this week from the Supreme Court. And even this birthright citizen uh, ruling Of. It's not like Serve rate It's terrifying, but they they they have to be angry about something. And especially this year because ye it's the midterms. they know that it's not going to be great for them probably It's why they're doing a big convention in I think Sept I forget September, October midterm A midterm convention, which You don't do. They know that they need to get some sort of rally going so that they don't get slaughtered you know, he's able to end the war and who knows the status of that at this point and even if gas prices don't go completely out of control, he still has to deal with the fact that he a trillion dollars from health carere and food assistance for poor people and gave it to rich people. And I know like doesn't really track the A to seeing of that for a lot of people. But the fact of the matter is is that he really exacerbated wealth inequality and stole money from the poorest people in our country and need to do that. They will feel those effects and You know? Billion dollars, Richer I wanted to play this clip. I don't know if you guys watched this that I sent around this like zero hedge podcast with Kurt Mills and Will Chamberlain. And the background is that Will Chamberlain is like a online MAGa Guy. Cody, would you describe him? Oh, yes. Yeah one hundred per. Just a totally percent in it, one hundred percent online Maga guy. And Kurt Mills has this publication American Conservative, which purports itself to be like a little more just non interventionist, more liibertarian is, I would say. Well, at any rate, I want to play a clip from this that I think gets to the heart of what this entire debate is. See, I don't really see any way to say that Elon Omar is not An American in the sense that I'm an American without getting into she's black, she's Muslim. And I think that's a really unhealthy road to go for the country I oppose immigration like outright? I don't really I don't really get So why I don't oppose the immigration for anything else other than like bigger reasons? I mean, No, no, no. these reasons No, no, it's like if you I mean, I think you assume that the reasons would be bigoted rather than looking at somebody like Elon Omar and seeing her ideology as fun be marri. I think you look if you look, yeah, look, we've had this Summer is a gift It's a gift of days that last a little longer, a brighter state of mind So giveift yourself a new Kia at the KIA Summer Sticker sales event, Eespecially taged vehicles including the Serento, Sportage, Carnival, as well as the Nuro Hybrid, all backed by a ten year one hundred thousand mile limited powertrain warranty. So the gift of summer can keep on giving for summers to come. KA Movement that inspires Call eight hundred three three threety four K for details host aafety event and seven hundred six twenty six to dealer for warranty details I think that's fascinating because you know, Kurt Mills is saying, like, look, it's a really dangerous road if you start saying that the government can say take citizenship away who is and isn't more American than another, right? Like even as a conservative, that's a really dangerous road And Will Chamberlain's like, If you're not going to be upset that she's bllack and Muslim, why are you against immigration at all He's just like, Yeah, it's because we're all's because it's the racism. It's the bigotry in the r We're supposed to be we're supposed to be racist. So it's like, I think you just lost the debate there, Will M Oh not in his mind But I do think they they try to like hide or very thinly veil the racism, like JD Vance And he's like they know M most of them know they're supposed to, but some are tired of getting that memo. I guess I don't feel as though they are trying to hide it at all anymore Um This gentleman is this person gentleman, whever is saying like, well, that's a dangerous path to go down But yeah, the debate here is I mean, it's not the conversation is very clearly racism, I mean, even Everything that's coming out of the presresident's mouth, All the things these people are saying. I guess you can argue that it's thinly veiled, but U I don't think there's any pretense anymore For many of them, there is not, there is not And it depends on the audience too, right? Like if you're on like the Zero hedge podcast, you might feel a little more open to talk about it in this way as opposed to like, well, like if JD Vance is like on the view He knows he can he needs to talk about it a little bit softer and try to remove it from that that realm, but then he's on, you know, Foxy Friends later and he's just yucket it up and happy to do it. So I think an important part of this conversation is the way that they're not really accepting the ruling and people not that I necessarily think it will move these suggestions will move forward, but so many pundents, so many officials are out here suggesting ways to change laws, to circumvent this Um, you know, Mark Wayne, Mullin saying they could prevent foreign pregnant women from entering the United States Uh, Sean Davis co founder of the Federalist, I guess All these guys have blocked me so long ago. Denying entry to all female foreigners, requiring sterilization of all foreign visitors prior to entry. What you kidding M And he's trying to put forth that he like is. He's like, well, this is all these the only options you've left us with you know, after this ruling, this is what we have. You shouldn't be surprised that we're saying all the Nazi stuff I think you can be normal actually. One of the options is being normal and not a Nazi about it Well, and then because you can't like freak out about it becausecause our country is still here and it's been this way for one hundred and fifty years. So you have to pretend that it's a brand new thing kind of like Sean Davis is here and kind of like JD Vance does in this Lower Ingram clip. It's fundamentally a loophole that now exists in our immigration system that rewards illegal aliens just because they have a baby in the United States while they're in our country illegally. So I think that loophole is going to cause a lot of problems. There are a number of things that we're already looking at in the administration, Laura, to try to close down that loophole. But fundamentally, what we're talking about is fixing a problem the Supreme Court created. We also want to look over the long term at undoing that problem to begin with, because again This was only a five to four decision, Laura. How many times did we hear people say that this was going to go eight to one against the administration? We made some very compelling arguments. We have the better of the case. We've just got to keep fighting at this and this drives home Laura, why the midterms are so important because it's the senators who ultimately vote on those Supreme Court justices Imagine if one of the five justices who made a bad call today, if they left the Supreme Court, we want to make sure we get somebody good on there in the future. But like they're all just acting as if like well what the Supreme Court's decision does has put us in the spot where we have to X, Y and Z How The country's here and it's what's the problem? I guess it doesn't really matter if there is a how. Bring it back to my first point, which is make a lot of noise and be angry about something. to get people riled up, to get them involved and not checked out. in time for the midterms, I guess, from their base for And this is a way to do it. I don't know Maybe they will try to do this shit U It really is explicitly like Nazi stuff. Like some of the stuff that like Steven Miller is saying and JD is saying and a lot of these guys are saying and especially Matt Walsh is like from Minecomf. The way they're talking about citizenship, the way they talk about who deserves it is paraphrasing some stuff. I would even point to Its you know, James Lindsey. He's like an anti comy weirdo kind of freak. evenven he is like. so I actually agree with the point here It's interesting to note that Hitler says almost the exact same thing in Mein Komf. I'll read this quote. Today, the right of citizenship is acquired primarily by birth within the boundaries of a country. Race or membership in the nation plays no part at all. An N word who used to live in the German protected territories and now has a residence in Germany brings a German citizen into the world. If he has a child, in the same way any Jewish, Polish, African or Asian child can be declared a German citizen. That is one kind of naturalization by birth within an extended territory. They're just like They have the same issues with it They might not drop an N word when they talk about it, although these days they many would. Steve Miller' saying more or less the exact same thing and tying it to like, well, we invented airplanes so they shouldn't be able to get like on an airplane and come over here. L it's just L Stehven Miller gave a speech in front of a big fountain this morning while there were protesters and sirens and people booing him. and I don't know I think for those freedom two hundred fifty relator and Eg Seth were out there. And Stehen Miller was like, you know, there's two kind it was basically Benchhapiro's bug like, there's two kinds of people in the world builders and like following and the people who take? He's just like all of civilization can be funally invited into two groups of people. Builders and destroyers. between the people who do the work to build, sustain, and nurture civilization, the people who serve, who sacrifice, who give, who care for others, who protect others, who defend others And those who only destroyed who litter who rob, who graffiti, who to face, who to rape. Civilization only exists because of people like you. And where the me We're the builders and they're the like he doesn't even have to give examples. He doesn't give any examples of something. What did you Dude. I always go back to his little speech in high school about how You got to pick up you shouldn't pick up your trash just throw it on the ground because we have custodians to do it for us. It's like, well, are those I think the builders are they're building a takeake. Right. They're building a clean world for you to live with. But it's like as close as he will come to just saying like, I think I'm superior And I think all of these other races are not superior and should either not be here or be in a subservient role to me. Like what what's the problem? Like that is what he is saying that like The words are barely jumbled Yeah, I want it's really quite 're at all disgusting people. I want to sit in this for another minute because it's From all angles they're doing this specifically about this birthright citizenship, obbviously like their reaction to it and what they want to do to like quote unquote solve it is racist and just sort of like Nazi rhetoric actions, literally proposing we sterilize people coming to the country. What are you doing, Sean, getet out of here. As in like leave, like leave the country forever anotherother reaction that's been out there from people like Matt Walsh specifically, but other people in that realm is that The reason this happened is because women are on the Supreme Court. And it's women's fault that this happened and that people should take that into account in the future when they are nominating judges, for example. The reaction to this is saying that women should not be a part of public life and are not intelligent or reasonable enough to have any role in our society And I And maybe people like it's not like really bubbling to the top, but like they're all saying it now. They're not they're not saying we're not I hope so because it's really disgusting what they're saying and they they're very clear about several times this week. I don't know if it. takes hold in a very real way moving forward forward, but I wouldn' I'm not ready to say that it won't. I think that it is certainly getting into the zeitgeisti conversation. Like they're already like obviously many of them talk about like the right to vote and how we can disenfranchise people in different ways. Some of that is like, well, only the Only the man of the household should vote or like only like this this type of person, whatever. But this is literally them saying like, no, women shouldn't have these positions in the government they shouldn't be able to participate. in the way we run society. they are not equipped to do it Um, they're literally they're just saying, like Men are superior in all of these ways and can't allow this anymore Um at the same time they're like, well, what like U what so like women what rights don't women have now? Like what do you mean? like we need to like protect women's rights and have more equality in society? It is But then as soon as We do like, well, no, we can't have that. We got to actually get rid of them. We can't have them have any of these positions Well also it's just like it's, yeah, the stuff he disagrees with and he blames the liberals on the court and Amy Coney Barret specifically. But like and I'm not a courourt. expert But there have been some bad decisions and some bad justices on that Supreme Court I don't know if Matt Walsh knows this guy, Roger Tawny you know, broke the majority opinion in the Dred Scott case. He might be a fan pretty maligned opinion. People don't like that one mightight have been one of the worst justices, but, you know, who knows maybe Sonya Sotomayor with her like somehow With her being a woman and all. With her being a woman. Well, he's an incredibly sexist shitty guy. like Sandra D O'Connor? I don't know. I'm sure It's interesting though. It's just such a messy soup All the different lines of thinking here, justifications as for why they feel so angry But in one breath, you are trying to discredit Wen in general from having positions of power or you know serving on the Supreme Court in this situation. And you're also having all this fake outrage about what this does to white women White American women are going to be eradicated because these foreign babies are going to they're going to have more babies than our white women and they're trying to genocide white women and whatever who can say be in charge of anything Yeah well But they can't be in charge of anything. this is what I'm protect them from having to make any decisions for themselvesly. Well, yeah, that is ultimately what they want Yeah, it's a big mess. and it's just this is I think this this birth isn'thip decision is a really Good Exple It's bad. it's bad. It's a good example of like kind of so like just so much of where the right is now. becausecause it's not just, okay, well, how do we do racism and Nazism more obbviously we need to like sterilize people coming into the country. So you have like the Nazism in that respect, and then also obviously the misogyny, the sexism, just the desire for an only male society. and also they just lie all the time about what these words mean There's so many lies about just about this decision about like they'll share quotes, like old quotes about this and then but they'll cut it off halfway through and they're like put the whole thing and be like, you didn't read that. Yeah. It's like, did you like check the punctuation? Exactly. And it's just so obvious. like some people are just doing it because they know like, oh I saw One of them do it, I'll do it too. L they're going along with it. But some of them knows that they're lying. And it's just this big like, just like shotgun of just like, ere's racism, here's sexism, here's all the lies, hereere's everything that we do. about this one thing that has been in existence for more than one hundred and fifty years. But it's brand new. JD Vance talked about it on the shows. He's like, yeah, this decision like it really does this for like it's going to change the world. It's like, no, it's always been like this. You're pretending. Has anybody accused Amy Conie Barrett of being a socialist yet Not quite, but they do accuse her of being a stupid woman who shouldn't have the job. They've called They've called her woke. they do all that kind of stuff. I was just trying to transition to our next topic I thought you asked me a real question. The answer may. But I mean honestly, the way that was received I'm like, well we're not far off from that yet. desp Everything about who she is, I mean Well, she's a they call her. She voted to end the TPS That will affect Haitian migrants and she is too adopted Haitian children. Well, that's the thing. They call They call her a race traitors what they call her. They do. Um Anyway, speaking of Socialism and what I the point I made earlier that they keep crying cry harder about socialism actually please do because I don't think it's stopping progressive candidates from getting a foothold. Jonathan, why don't you set us up to talk about some good news this week, some electoral good news Yeah, we briefly mentioned this on our Tuesday night stream. So yeah, it's not just New York City that is seeing some progressive Victories. Melette Kiros, a twenty nine year old Democratic socialist. I apologize if I mispronounced her name, defeated a fifteen term incumbent Democrat in Colorado primary. She is a former lawyer. She lost her job after refusing to delete a social media post where she defended pro Palestine campus protests and tried to draw a distinction between anti Israel protests and anti Semitism. She wouldn't delete it and she got fired from her firm And so that became a prominent issue in the campaign Did the vice president come out and say that it's okay that she said that because he says it now all the time? No and defends free speech and thinks that you should be able to say stuff like that? No, okay. I't think so. He didn't mention that No. He didn't mention that o. Uh, Milot. Hoes, beats US rep Diana D Getz. and yes she's 've been in office for a very, very long time What's interesting about this that to get wasn't the most middle of the road candidate or you know, rep that we've had. She just didn't do much. She hasn't done much for a long time. She's like for Medicare for all, but she also receives a lot of money. from, you know, healthcare industry. And I just think it's just so fascinating to see what's happening and exciting to see what's happening all across the country, not just and New York City people being fed up with the status quo, people being fed up withiz voting over and over for these people and them doing nothing with it just kind of coasting by, coasting through. a lot of people, you know giving heros because you know she's not againgain notot even not the most centrist candidate, but it doesn't matter anymore. We want change and we want to get as many people as we can that loudly state their values and get some new blood in there. And I think it's all very, very, very exciting. And this is despite not having support from Democratic establishment despite that Matt Walsh is banging the drum of socialism upheal and Mam Dani's communist New York City is not a specter. in fact, it is It is inspiring people across the country. That's my takeaway from this Part of it is you know, it's strategic. you look at what districts you can get somebody in there U and pull you know, have up a small of the Democratic Party in Congress be like an actual speaker to these sort of left wing policies and values and hopefully people to participate in the rest of the party when when Congress is in session and have have that part of it because you don't have really a multi party system beyond the two parties. and so you have to play with one of the two parties. I am just trying to focus on positives right now at this moment in time. and I know we're all nervous about midterms, hopeful about midterms Um, but nervous to see how it shakes out because that will determine the next two years and A lot of years thereafter, potentially how this goes. but in general Seeing all of these people across the country running these races very competitively is giving me a lot of hope for our future in general Because for too long we've been looking around, twiddling our thumbs, like who's next? Who's the next Bernie? AOC, we've got AOC. U Mom Donny Can't be president Yeah to do other stuff Gid you other stuff But as it stands right now, he can't be president. He's like, who we need we need fresh people. We need young energetic passassionate, idealistic people to be stepping up to the challenge because it is a horrific challenge to be thrown through the ringer on a national stage like this to, you know, have Twitter armies saying everything ugly possible, lying, just lying and and getting away with it. So you have to be very brave and strong and have the fortitude to survive this. And I'm really blown away and inspired by people across the country stepping up to the plate And it makes me feel good that maybe in ten years from now we'll have very different array of people to be supporting nationally. Well, and the more prorogressive people, Democratic socialists, people on the left that win, it just is going to force the establishment Democrats to to take it seriously. S not like they have to change everything. they've always been right, but there can be like a transition as people go from being more moderate. likeike we have seen moderate Republicans become absolutely foaming at the mouth racist may lethy over dragged across the. Right. But what I'm saying is like that same thing can happen. The partarty can be pulled to the left. The partarty can push forward more progressive ideas, especially if the people who win are like young and charismatic and attractive and cool. It might make some of those the Andrew Schultz of the world be like, o, maybe this is the cool side instead of thought. Democratic Party fucks now. D you guys canan you believe it? Yeah. I mean is an argument As silly as it is that is you know, median voter stuff that works and also you know, real normal people being able to talk is good Um, and not sounding like you're u stuffed shirt type of audition a candidate to be hot, but I do appreci charisma because they can sell a message to the population, can come across authentic, etceta. But also perhaps can work with people and get stuff done by using that charisma in the parameters of their job. Yeah. and just being able to keep I I find it frustrating because like what you're talking about is like, yeah, you want to some more passionate young people in the party to, you know, pull left because wrinkles are like you say exactly. But, you know while the Republican Party is doing that too. that makes it easy for Dishonest people, some silly Foolish types to equate them and say that it's the exact same thing And that is I just no real point. This is very frustrating to see people sort of take your take your point and say, yeah, they're pulling them left like MGa did. They're just like MGa. It's a mirror image of MAGa. Well it's not I mean, mechanically, I guess, functionally in like if you look at it like this and they're pulling different way to take all that same information that same argument would be to look at it as look it worked for MAGA It worked for MAGA to lean into like the party was dying. like the Republican partarty wasn't so hot, but they were fracturing and you've got these other fractions brought in more people and they're listening to the populist message. Well What's our version of that? Would do we want to win elections? We've got a lot of people that are dissatisfied with the status quo. I don't know if I'm articulating this or people are going to get mad at me. But basically I'm saying as a strategy, when your party is hollow and broken in a husk of itself, where's the energy and where's the momentum And for us It's in leftftist in the progressive circles. it's in creating new ideas, new attention to Medicare for all, solving the issues that people actually care about Um, and you would be smart. to take note somethingomet is missing at the heart of the Democratic Party and these people are doing outstanding work organizing on a grassroot level, inspiring people to get out. G good ground game, ground games there Yeah without corporate donors. That it's possible. And now imagine if the Democratic Party supported them Yeah. and I know I know it won't convince you know, the people on the right when New York City does not fall apart and is fine and actually people get like cool public services and like those things. But like There's a five that's seventy eight degree. Yeah, but people who are like dececlaration vaguely right of center have become okay with some of the extreme stuff over there, even if they're not like vocalizing it, even if they're not like ranting on racistly. They still vote for that party because they're like these people kind of get me and have my best interests at heart. And I think a left word thinking Democratic party would do the same thing and bring people along. it's easier to get, you know down with our ideas because they will help people ent' also they actually like mesh well together. We've talked about this before, right wing populism is fake It's a grift. they're not compatible But a multicultural, multiracial coalition of the working class actually like working together to bring about thingsings like equality and equity, those do work together. Also a little bit of reporting this week that Kamala Harris has been having some closed door meetings with prominent progressives and even called Zoram Mand Dani last week presumably to discuss how the heck he did it. Where didd he get that charisma? Haris twenty twenty twenty twenty. Harris twenty twenty stuff. She's offering him a job to run her social media ground game, I bet I don't want Kamal in a run She's running. She's running. She's running. You know what? better Better late than never. although I would say like it's really, really late actually. and maybe like the time for this was like a year and a half ago, but whatever. I don't think she'll get past like place in the primies, I don' think she's going anywhere. I mean, she was the first to drop out in twenty twenty or I mean twenty late late twenty nineteen actually On the one hand, I do appreciate people having showing signs of growth and reaching out to try and in presumably in good faith actually sit down and hear what progressives have to say through her stances and perhaps she is trying to appeal to the progressives when she does launcher candidacy. My other side of me knows knows that Kamala Harris seems to flip around a lot on her stances. firstirst she is for Medicare for all and then she's not. And she was trying to frame herself as being more progressive and then try to frame herself as being more centrist and seems to be very beholden to the opinions of advisors as opposed to whatever gut instinct or moral clarity. She may or may not have. Call Joe Biden raaces to his face in front of the entire nation. everyvery Democratic establishment type should be having meetings like this should be looking to Zoon in good faith you know, kudos for any sort of progress and growth anybody can make. But again instead of private closed doors meetings with Pro Palestinian activists maybe have one of those pro Palestinian activists talk at the DNC. at the DNC inststead of not letting them talk at the DNC. I know that she said avoid her a lot. She had a lot of disadvantages going into her campaign, given the timing and Joe Biden's insistence in staying in as long as he did, etceta. But a lot of the mistakes from her campaign came from her And she had the opportunity to clarify this during the campaign to make these kinds of changes back then or at any point over the past two years prior to this, prior to the moment when she's starting to Stretch things out Dust off stuff, get back out there Um, it it It doesn't scream authentic to me It would be fun to see clips of her for a little while, you know, she'll there'sll she'll be Brat again for a bit or sing wheels on the bus and do something. I hope fun stuff on the bus that'll be amazing Well, we're almost out of time here today, but let's end with something a little bit more fun. So this is a clip of Trump We'll truncate this from the whole thing. But here he is talking about that jet that he was I started Ornaaut in twenty thirteen and we make bike apparel. The best part of Shopify for me is our ability to run the business as essentially non technical people. We're able to admin everything on the backke end, front end, and sell things online easily. If Shopify were a bike accessory, I think it would actually be the bicycle It's the thing that you do the thing on. We run the business on Shopify. Start your free trial on shhopify. com o avorite updade to the new plane and how much did it cost American taxpayers to upgrade the plane for? course's very little relative to what it would cost if we did it a different way. So this was a gift from a country that's treated us very well. and they're an ally of us over in the Middle East Qatar. I went to Boeing, I said, whoo has the best one? They said, Qatar. there's never been a plane like it. Frankly, we couldn't build a plane like this because we wouldn't be willing to spend the kind of money necessary. They spent top towers. So the head of Boeing said, This is considered the best seven hundred forty seven they've ever built. And I went to Qatar, I said, I'd like to use it for a period of time because the other ones, as you know, are under construction, they'll be here in two years. And because you know, the plane is thirty five years old. That's it. He basically said that he asked for the bribe plane. did say that and then was like, we couldn't make a plane like this in this country, even though the plane is a Boeing plane that was designed to built say it was designed and built in this in this country, right? Yeahah. o. Yes it was But we can do that. He can do things like man, everyone else around the world does stuff so much better He really just does say that all the time that like we can't do shit where it's so hot right now. We're the hottest country in the world we can't do anything. They were hot shit though. We can't do hot shit Yeah, this is garbage. We're garbage. Everything we do sucks. Everyone in our country' stupid. they can't build anything. But won't anyone come celebrate. any of them coming here, Let us all be dumb here together Was there some sort of assertion that this would be a part of his library at some point, that this would not be the official Air Force one, but maybe that's not true. Yeah, he say you, I mean, he did say that after his term ends, if that's something that has to happen, I guess if the term has to end, it'll eventually they'll just drive the plane in on the ground floor of the his library U then so everyone could admire the beautiful plane But I imagine he'll Qatari craftsmanship that Do anybody ever worry about like thingsings being slipped into that plane Oh I'm sure I've been watching the tons of spy stone that plane. Yeah. I mean that I mean, look at his lapel, That's probably fuc. Also look at these like normal standards back here. Look I hope he just stands out there and talks for an hour and a half so these guys just I was continue standing normally think like stand in the sun you would So the books thing that I was referring to. What a privilege to be aboard the inaugural flight on the brand new Air Force One. theseese are fake books and they some of them say like library on the spine. That is so funny that Um before we go, actually, we might as well acknowledge that we don't know if Mitch McConnell is alive or dead Yeah We know onn june fourteenth, we found out he'd been hospitalized. TMZ This week put out like the nine hundred and eleven call, which made it clear that he had been found unconscious and was rushed to the hospital and his Staff says that he's receiving excellent care, but we have no idea of status condition or if he ever in fact regained consciousness. This is Has he even regained consciousness in the last two years is a question. I also have It's been a while He has been clearly unwell for a very long time just It speaks to the rot of this country First off Go be old and dying and don't work. done. relaxve done enough damage to this country, McConnell Yeah, Get your flowers, man just so fucked up. The American public should not be kept in the dark about something like Wrying on that Yeah. You know, they the right and the left. I mean, I was not happy about The Diane Feinstein of it all as that was playing out, nobody should be happy about that, but they're right was screaming from the rooftops about how it's elder abuse And yet here, it's just another situation of the utter hypocrisy. Speaking of the specter of death The other day yesterday, Donald Trump was giving a speech with the rough wriders and he said Three days from now, we will celebrate the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence. what a document out And this week, We look back on two hundred and fifty years of glorious freedom and we took So much time and so much effort. and by the way, O july fourth It's going to be pproximately one hundred and seven degrees out And I'm gonna to go and I'm gonna to make a really long speech Just to show that I can do anything It's gott toa be one hundred seven And I support our president in his endeavor. to give a really, really long speech in one hundred seven degree heat On july fourth, specifically, I would love to experience a living metaphor that the nation can come together and enjoy.
