Hi, on today's episode, we talk about Donald Trump's remarkable speech at the G seven , the Republicans criticizing his deal, and Jade V taken the fall Oh, hello and welcome back to Even More News, the first and only news podcast . I'm Katie Stoll . That's right , that's left and this is center. Hello folks. Hi, I'm Cody Johnston. How you doing ? Cody Johnston left of centenator exciting return guest, one of our favorites, journalist and media critic who writes the newsletter The present age, it's Parker Molloy . Hello ,, he helllloo . Welcome back . It's so good to be back. You guys are my favorites of all the podcasts, of all the one news pod podcast one of one . That's the problem with being the only news podcast. We're like a lot of pressure. We're either somebody's favorite or their least favorite. Yeah, it can be both. Because yeah, it could be both . When we found out Parker was joining us this week, we all breathed. Jonathan knew. Cody and I went, great . Oh, speaking of Jonathan , he's also here. Here he is. Hi You were so quiet. We weren't sure. Jonathan, I didn't Oh man, I try not to talk until my introduced. I'm introduced . And then I forget about that and I just talk mostly the rest of the show. I love that. That's what you're here for. Well, normally around fifty minutes, I'm like, I think that episode was just me talking, which is not what the show is. So let me stop. You can be . Today are bringing back the holidays we got some real one. Friday june nineteenth, it's junete . It's juneteenth, everybody. Real holiday. Trump did remove junehr from the National Park Services list of free days, but it is still a federal holiday. Also fun little California facts, California is opening up their parks for free or a bunch of them anyway. I think it's like thirty different parks and you can registrations open right now through July something or other, but you can just go in there and register for a free parks pass in California and you can use it through the end of twenty twenty six. So fuck you, Donald Trump . Yeah The state of California h.on Inor of june , though , I went back and I looked at how Trump used to talk about race like right after he first got into office . And I want to I want to just share with everyone just, a quick little paragraph from please address joint address to Congress because it wasn't technically a state of the Union in february twenty seventeen . Tonight, as we mark the conclusion of our celebration of Black History Month, we are reminded of our nation's path towards civil rights and the work that still remains to be done. He goes on to talk about threats targeting Jewish cemetery centers and vandalism. Each American generation passes the torch of truth, liberty, and justice in an unbroken chain all the way to the present. The torch is now in our hands, and we will use it to light up the world. I am here tonight to deliver a message of unity and strength , and it is a message deeply delivered from my heart. A new chapter of American greatness is now beginning. What we are witnessing today is the renewal of the American Spirit. Our allies will find that America is once again ready to lead. All the nations of the world, friend or foe, will find that America is strong, America is proud, and America is free. free . In nine years the United States will celebrate the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of our founding. two hundred and fifty years since the day we declared our independence, it will be one of the great milestones in the history of the world . But what will America look like as we reach our two hundred fiftieth year ? What kind of country will we leave for our children? And that's where I want to end it. This is chilling actually to hear back. Yeah , yeah, it's it's like he's warning us, but I do love that that was the opening of the speech. He opened the speech by being like , shout out to Black History Month. They really thought they had to pretend for a while. Yeah , they really did that going into it. It was Trump would kind of try to talk to racism, which was well, it just speaks to how much has changed in a relatively short period of time as well, just culturally and politically what's allowed and what's not. And that's a good reminder for how bad Donald Trump was the first term. All of the wheels have come off the butt. I don't know, like everything, Pandora's box has been open, insert your phrase . It was too back then. I mean, just contrast that with like all talked about it so much , all of the black history they have erased from like our national monuments and museums and like the websites like it's that the contrast is , very stark and upsetting. I guess we got to start with Trump at the G seven and the deal . What a deal, folks. Boy start with boy 'cause it's so good. Oh boy, we really are barreling towards putting that on a piece of merch, oh boy. Trump talking at the G seven yesterday and talking about the deal was remarkable for a lot of reasons, mostly because in so many words, he admitted that Iran won the war and that the only way to end the war would be to give them concessions . And then he talked about the concessions, you know, not being that big a deal and kind of reasonable . And he really spent an hour hosting an even more news podcast. It sounded like he's you said the things that we largely have been saying for months now. Like there's no m ilitary solution here. You can bomb them as much as you want, but this is where we'll be right back in a few months. Hey, it makes no sense that , you know, we have bombs and they don't or whatever. You know, that we can't do this anymore because we're going to run out of oil and it'd be bad. Yeah, we're going to run out of oil in a few weeks and that'll be economic catastrophe. They need like enrichment of uranium. It can be used for nuclear power and other things, not just nukes. Oh, I love this. We should watch some of these clips though. It's something else . And it's just giving a lot of work to the Republican conservative media. They're like really, really trying with this, but some have just given up. They're like, yeah, I think we lost. I think I think we're losers now . So I want to play the clip where he talks about ultimately like, well, we're going to run out of oils where I'm going to be Herbert Hoover if we do that. So it's really kind of a short clip where he talks about it and you'd think there's more, but he just bounces all over the place. So you'll see what I'm talking about here . If we we if keep bombing, those ships won't be going and you're talking about five hundred , six hundred, seven hundred million dollars a day. It's a lot of money, a lot of money. That's why the world is okay. It's liquid, it's fine. Also, we run out of reserves in about four weeks. You know, there are reserves all over the world and we would really run out and there'll be a time when you wouldn't be able to get it. And you want to see Bedlam . So for all those so called geniuses that want to show me how smart they are . Ask them, why didn't they blow up General Solomanei? Asked that of the general and a couple of other people that I like very much, but boy are they wrong? All right, and then he went wait . What? The so called So if all the so called geniuses want to ask me want to say, well, why didn't you blow up Solomani? What? All the so called geniuses told you not to start this war with Iran , sir . I'm blown away. I did save some of these. I started watching some of them, but I was like, well, let's get some genuine reactions on this show. Also, he Salimani has been dead for more than six years . It's not even like it's from first, it's from first time. Like, what do you it's just remarkable because it's like he's arguing with him from the last four months where he's like, well, you want to keep doing this? We're going to run out of oil. What are you talking about? And he's like arguing with everyone else with the reporter . It's wild because it's like and because it's like who is he really arguing with because these are things well because these are these are things that they all know and have talked about and have told him for months as well. Like this isn't new information. It's just information that he couldn't avoid by this point. Well, yeah Leave a comment, sir about your favorite listening, sir, we are your trusted advis now, sir . I do want to highlight that like, 'cause we're he's being a hypocrite and it's easy to make fun of him, but also like thank goodness he's finally doing it. There is no other option. Oh yeah, the war needed to end. This has to happen . And so I kind of want to separate us from some of the people you might see on cable news who are from the Democratic side being like, this is a horrendous deal and it's like a gift to Iran. No concession. The next question is to be like, well, what would you prefer bombing for another six months and then being in the exact same spot? Like they're using it fine as a attempt to hammer Donald Trump and make him seem weak and dumb and that's fine, but also they're putting forth the argument that you wanted the war to continue? Yeah , there's a very odd pickle they've gotten themselves into. Because also we talk about a lot of people in the mainstream media, they like the war and they like war with Iran and they love the big beautiful bombs and the explosions and all that sort of stuff. And they also hate Donald Trump. And it is their job to sort of confront, you know, politicians with their hypocrisy and things don't quite line up. There's a clip of Ca,it Il thinkin C ollins talking to someone from the GOP about Trump being like, well, of course they need some missiles . Again, completely contradicting everything he said for the past few months, but in response, she's like, wait, so you do think that they should have missiles and weapons. And it's this sort of like, you don't want to imply that you think that they shouldn't. Like it's odd because it seems like you could be arguing like , but wait, shouldn't shouldn't they not have them? But what she's really doing is pointing out like but you your entire party and position is that they shouldn't. Yeah, the entire GOP position they're kind of split and we'll get to that, but like the entire GOP position if you're a Trump ally is this is great. Well, yeah, like they have to be Iran has to be able to defend themselves is a wild thing for them to hear from a GOP senator. Let's hear it from the big guy . So we'll be working on a parallel effort with the Gulf nations to address non nuclear issues such as the conventional ballistic missiles, which we'll be talking about and support. I mean, they have to have some because other people have some , you got to have some. Somebody said you shouldn't give them one. I mean, I have guys. I like some of these guys , but I don't think they're don't think they're smart . Sir, you shouldn't let them have any missile . I said, Well, what am I going to do? Are we going to let Saudi Arabia have missiles but they can't have them? Yes, sir . It doesn't work that way, you know ? It doesn't work that way.iss Andil mes aren't the problem. Missiles they hurt a little location, but they don't blow up the planet . I mean I love everything about this . Go Parker. Tell us. I mean, it's it's clearly like he's just that whole thing is a riff. That's not in not prepared . I like he makes the exact argument that it's just like, well then why, shouldn't they have nuclear weapons? Like oh yeah I mean you can extend that argument. Yeah , I mean my position is that if we have nuclear weapons like I really don't understand why Iran or North Korea shouldn't, because we're pretty reckless when it comes to our use of you know, we're the only country that's bombed someone with them ideally there'd be no nukes, but I get it if other countries are like, I think we probably need something extra deterrent. The great thing here is that Iran probably knows now that it doesn't need nukes because it can bend us to its will by closing the Strait of Hormuz. So he? Easy is that. We taught them a lesson and we taught them so many lessons with this incredible deal . We have raised their profile all over the world. They are a much richer nation . We've proven that there is no regime change coming and we've destabilized the region and ruined our own relationships . So it's just such a win. It's just such a win for them. And they're like kind of admitting even if the American government doesn't like the Iranian government, that Iran as an entity is not this like this singular evil that everyone has to confront, which is how not just the Republican Party, but to a certain extent both parties have presented they wrote back to like Axis of evils language from decades ago. Yeah, there's, I mean, I've still seen like Republicans and Democrats like, yeah, they're our mortal enemy and we cannot have this . Look, we've given our mortal enemy . Well , sorry folks. One of my favorite things from his speech was when he talked about he's like, We spent we dropped ten million dollars worth of missiles on them in the past like forty eight hour s or something like that. And then, you know, it's like part of the deal is that we're paying to rebuild the country. So it's like, please stop destroying things. Please stop making it worse . I mean, do we want to like mention some of the stuff that's actually in this alleged deal . In talking about this deal, this MOU Everyone in the administration was like, That's not true. This is a lie. You're lying about what's in there. This is so dishonest. The fake news media and their disgusting lies just like sending out all this . It's exactly what everyone was saying it is . It's exactly what it is The parts that the United States is promoting as like these are big wins , which are things we already had was Iran reaffirms it will not procure or develop nuclear weapons. I have to I'm sorry, I have to pause on this. Yes. It's so funny that they made sure to include the word reaffirms . Like there's some things in this word like they really, really wanted to embarrass Trump and the United States by making sure that we know in writing, yeah, we'll say again like we've always we will do again will reaffirm that for you. Like we always have. And again , the Iranian media is spinning it very differently. U. S. agrees to allow Iran to have nuclear their nuclear program. It's legitimately says maintain the status quo of its nuclear program , which was to use it for enrichment for energy, which Trump yesterday was like, well , it doesn't make sense to tell him to not do that. What was they needing? They all need nuclear energy which he either pretended that he had never said the opposite before or learned for the first time why that kind of logically makes sense. Sometimes that is true. He I mean, it would be more clear if he said like not a lot of people know this, but you can use nuclear power for like not all people know that you can rich uranium for your nuclear power, yeah. The status is English. I definitely English, but the quo is Latin and it means the same it means the same status. No one knows that but me save more at Scandinavian designs furniture this fourth of July . For a limited time, save two hundred dollars instantly for every thousand dollars you spend in store. Stop by a local showroom or shop online at scandavian designs dot com Scandinavian designs, we make it simple . You make it home . What else is in this deal? We're gonna end sanctions. We're going to unfreeze their assets, which again, Trump's like, well, what are we gonna do? Keep it forever . Good point. It's their money. And then sixty days cease fire to hammer out. The rest of the details, the straight will be open and mines cleared . But then after sixty days are they going to start charging a toll? I believe the word fee is now being floated instead of toll. So we'll see. So that's been body. We don't know. They're going to hammer it out as our really great vice president has been talking about. It's more of a gentleman's agreement type of situation that they,'ve like , they've said some stuff and they'll figure it out. I would like to see one more at least of Trump's responses, perhaps about the children that were killed. Oh , I should watch that. The worst was in a speech where I agreed with the president a lot, this is not one of those moments. This is an absolute disgrace. Can you now say whether you will hold anyone in your administration accountable for the strike on a school that killed more than one hundred children on the first day of the war? No, if it was a fault and as you know, that's under investigation . It's such a strange question to be asked at this state talking about a long time ago, but nobody did that on purpose . I guess you'd have to say about them, what about the thousands of soldiers that they blew up when they opened their car door . What about the thousands of people that were killed by Iran ? No mistakes are made. The war is nasty , but I know it's under investigation and I could have a report for you tomorrow or I would ask Pete , I would ask Pete Hags at that question because they have it under investigation, please. What an investment That report will never be released obviously under investigation, but a report can be ready tomorrow. Interesting, he's soft throwing Hegseth under the bus for the war crime. It's like, why are you asking that? That was so long ago, but also it's still under investigation , but also no one did that on purpose , but how do you know that if it's still under investigation? Mistakes are made. How do you know it's a mistake? Who made the mistake? If it was us that made the mistake, you're saying it wasn't determined yet that we did it. Question was not about whether it was like on purpose on purpose at all . It would be great to know that but that wasn't even the question . It was, will you admit that it was a mistake , which you don't need an investigation to say it's a mistake to blow up hundreds of children . You don't need that at all. You just need to say, of course, that was a mistake. We wouldn't do that. Whoever did that, even if you're saying that's still under investigation, but in my mind, of course, that's a m istake. That is a horrible thing to have happened. That was a long time ago . Sir, you're the you're the most petty grievance fueled person who ever lived . You hold everything with you for your entire life. What are you talking about? That was a long time ago. It was a few months ago. Also, that was a long time ago. So you're saying this war was really long? I thought it was a short little excursion. That was a long time ago. So day one of the war that you started was a long time ago that we can't even talk about now Fuck that person . He's so disgusting. The way he talks is something else because you can see the wheels moving a little bit and they move slower than they used to. So instead of saying if it was our fault he goes if there was a fault which is a which is bizarre thing to say out loud. And then you can tell that he's wondering, should he attack this guy? He goes, what a strange question to ask. And you can tell he's about to go like you're disgusting person. Where you from who you're with. And then he's like, that might be a bad taste on this wonderful day when I ended the war and a hundred plus kids died. So I should be like, well, no, it's an investigation. And there's an investigation. And you know what? What am I answering this question for? I hate this. Ask Pete Hagseth , he's the piece of shit you want. I'm just over here. Every aspect of this, just watching , I don't love that we bombed children's school, obviously, but I do love that the Trump's just he's, so over all of this . If it's not about the ballroom or the UFC fight or painting the reflect the reflecting pool blue , he just doesn't care about any of this. He's just, why are you asking me? If you asked him about like the like sconces that are going to go up in the ballroom, he would go on for like fifteen minutes, you know, but with this, he's just like why, are we why are we so hung up on like who did one? Legacy he's all he wants to bowl right past all of that. He's well, look, I don't know. I guess he could get much richer. There's a trillionaire that exists now, but he's profited very well. He's old, he's tired , you know , maybe he's yeah . I think he's just focused on legacy. He's like, I want the ballroom to exist after I'm dead. I want this my name to be on things and I want people to look at I ended the war. I want people to look behind the curtain anymore. Yeah, I want people to love my reflecting pool that's like turning into like Boba tea slowly with like little fucking blue shit floating around in it. Look real quick on the fucking pool because we haven't done it was already a pond scummy needed to be clean . So let's not that's not new, but the hilarious and frustrating part is quite simply a two million dollars contract ballooning to fourteen million dollars because it only went to one contractor and it was his friend and immediately a day later it was back to what it was before and now they're pouring hydrogen peroxide in or something. I don't know. In those little gallon jugs too. Like what? What? This is just it's so it's just like a if this was the TV show it would be a funny se plot that cousin Greg would be handled. Yeah, the paint is not handling they're like already craig's like , oh no, and it's just yeah it's like and it only matters to me because I don't give a shit. I've never been there like it only matters to me because you made such a big deal out of it of how you're the best at running stuff . I've got the best koi ponds everywhere and then the fish are all floating upside down, you know? Like that's the thing. Everything you say you're really good at turns to shit. Yeah, it's just a really convenient metaphor that's like the least offensive like of all the metaphors that are out there for what's going on . When it comes to the question about the kids school blown up. There's such an easy answer . I can't say anything because we're still working we're still investigating . Of course if someone did something wrong, they'll be held accountable. Next question. Like the loss of those children's lives is a tragedy . Is a tragedy that, you know , a horrific offset of war, whatever, anything . You've heard him say it's a horrible thing. Well, it's , you know, like his war is nasty stuff. He's like, this war I started is really like whoever did this is a real piece of shit. I like war is awful. You know, I mean, Jonathan, there was there was an episode of this very show that I watched where you at the very start of the war where you talked about how Trump just doesn't have it in him to pretend to care and that that's going to be his undoing in this. And it's true. I mean, you see it with this where he's just like, I don't really care. Well, you know, oh, we're gonna we're going to like harp on all the way back to two months ago. You know, like this is what I he's already yeah, his heart's never been in it. The only reason he's ever wanted to be the fucking president is to get rid of his crimes and to make some money, et cetera. And he's over that now. He's through that part and you're right. It's just he doesn't give a shit . And it's like funny when it's not about something so horrible when people are asking him, oh, well, what do you say to all these Americans who are struggling who can't go to game five of the NBA finals? And he's like, What do you want me to say? That's how life is for some people. Like, that's a very funny thing that he says. He's like, What do you want me to do about that? I guess with distance, you know, when the plan cre'sashing'.s He like, What do you want me to do? Look at the water. Like he like he can't care, he can't. He can and he doesn't want to. Does anybody think that embarrassing disaster of an end to the war that he started will in any way influence him away his like Cuba plans or these other things that he's been talking about for a long time. And he's like, that kind of fucking sucked. I shouldn't do that, maybe, you know , I guess we'll see how the next few weeks play out, but less signaling of what's about to happen. I just think this has been such a disaster that there's not the will , good will that he was hoping for. Like he were trying to steamroll. Let's just boom, boom, boom, let's do this. Let's take Greenland too. Right, like he's riding high from Maduro, but now it's like, oh shit, right , but it's not as simple as that, sir. And I do have a feeling. I don't know if it'll stop it it'll stop it forever, but I do think that it has slowed the roll a bit. Like maybe November fifth once it doesn't matter anymore. Like that is what I'm I am worried about backed into a corner. Nothing matters anymore, Trump to an extent. And there will be like the highs of like, oh, he's like toast and he's running low on fumes and he doesn't have any power anymore, but like backed into a corner, he's gonna have to actually leave for good soon. He's capable of capable of messing things up. You can always throw Marco under the bus about the Cuba stuff as and we're we don't need to show that this clip because we're going to watch Ben Shapiro talk about it, but Trump also soft launched throwing JD under the bus for this disaster . So one of my little conspiracy theories is that because you would think that , you know, as a president nears the end of his second term , he wants to help the next person get elected. You know, Obama wanted Hillary to get elected. Bill Clinton wanted Al Gore to get elected. You know, that's that's kind of kind of how it goes I don't think that Donald Trump really like I think that he is so self centered that the idea of his movement moving on without him makes him angry And the biggest heartbreak of his life. And so he's gonna keep trying undermine Marco Rubio and JD Vance so that the only possible to do for Republicans is, well, I guess we got to try to put Trump out there again. Like I really feel like that's what's happening and he think it's you're right. You're right. That is it's about he wants the attention. He wants it to be about him and he will make it about him in any way that he possibly can . He is getting now a power trip out of which candidates he supports and playing people off of each other like that. Like, well, you pissed me off. You didn't do this thing for me. So even I'm gonna back this pedophile this actual pedophile or what have you . And that's all it's going to be about. And well, yeah, because it's not just like yes, he's I'm Maga and whatever I say goes and I'm the king of the fucking world or whatever . And he doesn't want anybody to steal spotlight but, also I think he specifically doesn't really like JD. It seems like he's not a likable person . He's not a likable person, but he seems like he's kind of embarrassed by him and doesn't think he's so great . So I think especially because it's JD, I think he's resistant to it . There's a story from this fucking book that we'll probably have to read about from the Haberman and Swan . I think it's from that about basically like Rubio and Vance being at like a dinner like together and Trump just like talking to people like who do you like? Who do you like do you think who think yous better ? Marco or J im Bore on the floor dinner. Like it's just it's wild. Who's going to error ? Yeah, I think twenty twenty eight is going to be so I mean twenty twenty seven when the primaries kick off because there's going to be like thirty Democrats running because they know this is the best opportunity maybe ever to become the president and it might just be JD running on the Republic like they know this is the sacrificial lamb. Someone is likely going to get trowns , but JD has to run. Like this is, you know, it'd be very weird if he didn't started floating the idea that maybe he wouldn't run in twenty twenty eight and save it for the time after . But yeah, maybe I don't buy it . But like, I do think they know that it's like going to be a real tough hand to play. I mean, unless, you know , the economy's fine. Like, that's all anyone cares about, right? So the economy bounces back, people don't hate all the stuff this administration did as much . Maybe they're not as behind the eight ball as they appear to be now , but doesn't look good You've got an upstairs you and a downstairs you That's just life . Stanford Medicine advancing knowledge, improving lives stanfordmedicine. org . Can I play Ben Shapiro throwing JD under the bus . I've said many times that the president deciding to go into Iran and to hit nuclear facilities in Operation Midnight Hammer and then to go after Iran's ballistic missile facilities, nuclear facilities, Army, Navy, and air force in this current operation was the signal act of political bravery, perhaps of my lifetime. With that said, this MOU appears to be just from the text, a disaster that does not achieve any of the actual signal goals that were set by the administration at the beginning. There were effectively five goals that were set by the administration at the beginning. One was ending the nuclear program, not just nuclear weapons, no nuclear enrichments, zero enrichment. That is not in the deal. Ballistic missiles ended. That is not in the deal and the president today suggested that ballistic missiles should actually continue to be held by the Iranians because the Saudis are allies also hold ballistic missiles. Then you have the support of terrorism. That is not part of the deal. Anything that looks like an attempt to end terrorism. A permanent opening of the Strait of Hormuz toll free. Not only is that not in the deal, the deal appears to have a provision allowing Iran and Oman to attempt to toll the strait after sixty days. And then finally, the idea that Iran would receive some sort of sanctions relief after all of those things happen. We are already seeing from day one relief in their ability to ship oil out of Iran. In my opinion, the vice president of the United States, the chief negotiator on this particular project has not well served the president . I mean, he's right He went through a lot of things. Could just shut him out. He's wrong about he would prefer to happen , but he's right about the outcome of the war and woof , it's not good. The goals in this whole war obviously was like a bad idea and it's just it's such an interesting like position to be in now. It was like, yeah, all that shit you're saying that you think is awesome sucks and they fucked it up like they didn't get the things that yeah it's what a what a guy they're showing Trump holding the paper Trump doing this, Trump doing that. He's talking about this is an awful deal. This is a disaster. And then he's like, and I think the vice president, JD Vance, really screwed this thing up. He said in that clip even today, sorry, that's too low, even today President Trump was out there saying that they should have ballistic missiles. He said that like, yeah, Trump's out there saying the things that I'm saying are bad. And you know whose fault it is? JD Vance . Yeah. What are you talk? Like what do you who do you think the president is? Do you think he just such a slimy little guy very funny to watch him triangulate? Because also Matt Walsh today is like, man, J ad'ies out there. He's doing such a great job. He's so smart and articulate. What a great communicator. I love him. And it's just, again, that rift of like, either you're just Trump sycophant forever and you just want Iran to be destroyed completely , which is clearly what Ben wants or you know that like it's pivot time. We got to pick a softer a softer trump. We should talk about JD Vance on TV . So Vance is both like defending this deal now and also saying some pretty remarkable things to hear from anyone in the U. S. government ever telling telling BB's cabinet basically not to bite the hand that feeds them. Like I would say like, don't abandon your only ally when they're trying to help you. He told he was on I always grew up his name. Ross R,oss, do that Do. that. I know how we pronounce the I'll redo it. Do esn't it ? Thank you for saying it Parker because I was bought that. I think that's it. I don't know. He's the chunky what's it chunky Ree Switherspoon guy, right? So yeah, Vance on Rouse Rouse . One more time . Rouse at Rhonda. Don't Okay. Don't help . Vance was on Ross Dowthat's New York Times podcast. Yeah, you've seen people in their system Ben Gaveer and Smokritch who have attacked the deal. And I guess my response to them would be , what is your exact proposal ? And you're a country of nine million people . You can't just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have. Astounding to hear astounding US president or vice president talk like that . Good point , but that's not who you've been for the last decade. They've like had people deported for saying things less than that. Not as bad as that. Yeah . It is astounding. That is the right word . To see the president or vice president saying something like that It does show such this week is just an about face, a total about face and everything that we have been doing for Israel for decades. Some of this stuff was very interesting hearing say 'cause they yeah, they know they have to now like what do you say? What do you do? Just lie. So I want to I say that because amidst all these kind of weird things that JD's saying out loud, he's also lying a whole lot and being a slimy little scum worm and it is so frustrating to see him try to pretend to be any person. He's just not a person at this point. He's such a little fucking lying little freak. Even the day earlier, he's like, yeah, the Obama nuclear deal allowed enrichment but ours won't. The Obama deal gave them a billion dollars of American money. Ours doesn't. That's not true . It's literally not true. Like it's just like basic facts. You made the fucking deal. You're supposed to be the vice president. Obviously you're lying Obviously also him saying that Trump has the one of the highest IQs of any president in history. That's absurd. Well, because this is all going on at the same time as JD's book tour because his book Communion came out this week and he went on the view, he's been all over the place talking about it and he tries to sell it on the view as like look, ninety five percent of this book isn't about politics. Like you don't like Trump. You could still like me and learn a lot about my faith and what a good person I am. No one likes you. Even the president doesn't like you. I'm sorry, should you be doing a book tour right now? No . That's okay. So we'll watch the clip. This is so distasteful. Like I find this really like really, really gross. Every day, every little interview he's there, he's like buy my book and bubbl ah blah blah blah but also like wherever books are sold, it's really, really gross . I don't think this has ever happened during like an actual term where you're like maybe I don't know, I'll look into it but something that's happened during while someone was actively in office office there's a fucking war going on and you know there's so there's that Al Gore book that sold one copy. Yeah , it's just like this so trans parent like example like of here's who I I am. just need you, please like me, please buy my book. I want to be like a book podcast guy. I want to do this. I want to do the shows. I want to be a guy who does the shows. I don't want to be the president or the vice president. That's bullshit. I want to co host Charlie Kirk's podcast for a living. Like I just hate, I just hate it. Well, well this is tough because he gets challenged here and Whoopi Goldberg asks him basically why is the administration so racist? What did black people do to this administration that has allowed it really igmatize folks of color. I'm talking about black history getting erased from public spaces. Black voter districts are being dismantled. Black leaders are being sidelined from our ranks. Where do Americans of color fit in this vision? Because it doesn't seem like we fit. I think my view. And if I and if I may since October of last year, there's been something like six thousand six hundred six andty eight refugees allowed into the country, all but three were white South Africans. So first of all, I'm very skeptical of that number because we have a lot of different immigration pathways in the United States of Americ a. But let me just address Rippy's point. Look at Washington DC. One of the most democratic and one of the blackest by a share population, blackest cities in the United States of America, has seen a radical decrease in violent crimes and sexual assaults and in murders . We have tried to take the crime issue seriously in part because we believe everybody, whether you're black or white or rich or poor deserves to live in a safe neighborhood. Wh wasy why does the crime stop? Where does the crime step in? I'm this is not about this is about how they lost their jobs right. This is about this is about scumbag, fuck that guy because there's so many people around the table asking questions , he kind of gets bailed out a little bit on really having to answer all of those questions because he's like, I dispute the refugee number. Okay, so you're just lying and saying that that's not true. And then he does the thing that Republicans do so much where he's like, Hey, we're crime, black people, crime. And Willi Cobra's like, What are you talking about? We'd ever ask you about crime. You pivoted to talking about crime when posed with a question about black people ? Oh, also in that , there was the moment where he was saying, look, like whether you support us or whether you don't, no matter what you believe or what your race is, blah blah blah there's a place for you in this country and you know which is really interesting because just earlier this week there was this Texas tribune article I'm not sure if you guys saw it , but it was about conservative Muslims in Texas who went to the state GOP convention and were just repeatedly by multiple people told to leave the country , which is yeah, awful, but at the same time it's like I'm sorry that the hate club you tried to join us so hates you like lepersy sharing at all stuff Yeah, I mean they can't even pretend to actually mean that sort of stuff. Like, of course, everyone belongs. Yes, black history is being erased. There's so much reporting on that you brag about it. You brag about it all the time. The president brags about it. There's an there was a very explicit initiative at the start of your administration to get rid of that. So he's lying, obviously . But also later that day , he was on I believe Gutfeld or Fox and Friends and he took the time to just talk about how Democrats are horrible people. That's the phrase he used. Democrats are sure they're horrible people . And then he said that Whoopi called him racist , which she explicitly made a point to say I didn't call you racist. I'm asking about this specific thing . He's just a liar and he can't like contend with this stuff. Performing to different audiences. Exactly. He's a fake person . He's not a real guy and he's got to go he's got to get out there. Also like, the follow up has to be like, oh you see you think everyone belongs in this coalition? Do you agree with the president that Somali people are garbage and should leave? Do you agree with him that people who come from XY and Z country because he's listed a bunch are garbage and they're horrible people and they contribute nothing and they come here and complain like Trump goes on these rants regularly and he would sit there and be like, well , I think the president was joking . He called for a complete and total shutdown of Muslims coming into this country. Yes. Until we can figure out what's going on. Oh, sure, yeah. I would like to play a clip of Vance on Gutfeld so we can see I want to see the code switching that he does. I don't know the different like I'm looking for a right phrase, but I think that might be it. Well, it's the same bit he does . So this is n't the one where he's saying, like, I'm surprised it was Sonny who called me racist instead of whoopy. This is the one where he calls Democrats terrible people and does his little gratitude stick. It doesn't bother me when congressional Democrats disagree with our policies. It bothers me like that they're just terrible people so many of them . But what really does bother me is that they don't show gratitude for the United States of America disagree with our policies, but if you don't feel grateful to live here and for the people who made it possible, then what are you even doing being in public service ? Too many Democrats don't show appreciation for the country . Well, first of all, this like this like dorky like school marmory of like you need to show gratitude. You didn't say thank you, sir. Like that stuff is so obnoxious and like they're the most ungrateful people in the world. On the point about gratitude, that just remind ed me of the thing in the Oval Office with Zelensky with the suit and stuff. Yeah. Have you said thank you once? It's like yeah, you come off like a horrible dude, man, like who is just like, you he kind of does that same did that same thing when he was talking about Israel where he's like, don't bite the hand that feeds you everything is like everyone should always be showing gratitude to Jadie Vance. That's right. What that's what he wants. And he does it like he starting talking about the country and stuff, but really he like he's an avatar for it. He wants it for him's and his movement and like his positions. Also I would say that maybe if the president the current president, your boss has been out there for a decade talking about how everything's fucking horrible in this country and we need to make it great again 'cause it's shit now. Is that grateful in the country? Also , if you do think that there are problems with the nation and you are in public service, it's probably to like fix those problems . And also , I don't think that going out there and saying Democrats are horrible people and they're not grateful is a Republican vice president trying to be bipartis an . I think that's actually not what happened . Absolutely. It's interesting , interesting to see those clips back to back . And presumably this was the same day . Oh yeah, literally like that night he went on. It was like, yeah, they called me racist and they're all fucking pieces of shit . He didn't like, I didn't get applause. But you're right, everything you guys are saying about the gratitude about him and his attitude and of course the hypocrisy because as soon as he's not in office, he's going to be complaining about the Democrats ruining this country and I'm embarrassed to be a part of this blah blah blah this like behavior policing that he's doing is like, here's how you should act. Here's how you should appropriately act. Is the very thing that I thought like the left was doing that bothered everyone so much for a decade . Also and to that point in that Dufat Rossi the Rausat interview , Ross brought up how you're like, this is a Christian book and you're talking about Christianity and like you n'icere now or whatever , but the tone of the administration is pretty aggressive and cruel. And in response, he's like, I don't really caught this sort of like tone policing stuff. Like tone, that's just a way to like, like he's doing the opposite of it. He loves to tone police people, but as soon as someone talks about that in relation to him or the administration, he's like, Tonal arguments are ways of frankly, policing working class ways of communication and covering them in elite preferences . Fans , that's what you like it's just so frustrating. Fake cosplaying guy . Also he says fundamentally too much in these interview s. I've really noticed that is really frustrating. There's so many things. We're not even going to get to all of them. He was asked about how long will it take Iran to reconstitute its nuclear program? And he's like, well, that's a hard question, you know. They need a little class fundamentally . But fundamentally, you know, it's going to cost a lot of money without referencing the fact that they're going to get hundreds of billions of dollars for reconstruction. So maybe that's where they're going to get the fucking money. But then he's like, you know, and you know, it could be years and years, years, but you know, I can I can say that it won't be during this administration . We're kicking So you don't care two years from now , it's absurd. And there's like every interview. There's like nine things he does like that where it's like, dude, you're so full of shit and we're not going to say all of 'em. We should move on before Cody has a heart attack. I'm I this guy know it's a it's it's wildly frustrating and it is also one of those things where we could spend all day pointing out the hypocrisies and the bullshit and comparing to this to that and it doesn't change day they don't matter. And it won't happen in this administration. Well, that works with that audience because what they care about is what happens that they under Trump's administration as soon as tease out and something happens with Iran, it's the Democrats fault, not the situation that they created, of course not. They're trying to blame Obama for the reflecting pool . I don't understand that. I just see it.ing I was just like, I don't know what you're talking about. Blaming Biden doesn't play well 'cause people like Hunter Biden now on Twitter, you see. They shouldn't let Hunter loose during the campaign. They really should have . I mean , Hunter and Wall Another error go out there. Yeah . Another error on the Dems part. Hunter, who knew was locked and loaded. I wonder if things could have been different if Kamala Harris said half the things that Trump and Vance have said in the last twenty four hours if she, said them, maybe this is a very different I mean, I know that's a really important point because yeah, would have made some amount of difference. I don't know if it would have gotten you fully over the finish line, but it definitely would have made a difference. And not to come across as thinking Donald Trump and JD Vance are doing the right thing. They've been backed into a corner , but the things that have been said in the last twenty four hours are the right things to say, are the right things to do, to tell Israel to stop, to acknowledge that , to reaffirm their right to have a x amount of nuclear enrichment and war was bad. We should end the war. It's good war is like, you know, Cody, you should prepare yourself and your and your Constitution for the prospect of JD Vance briefly being the president sometime between now early twenty twenty nine . That is what I was thinking as well . Okay. I mean, you know what? It'll be a real as soon as you remember like, oh, but then that guy. Right. And you have to and maybe on call can bet on how long it is after it happens that until you recognize that JD Vance will immediately become the president. And what kind of buffer do you get? What's scary about JD Vance is how little backbone he has at all, of course. But right now he's Trump's lacky, but president JD Vance is like the tech boys lacky. You know, there's no low that's too low for him to snivel through or whatever like Donald Trump. Yeah, he's a little worm. He's a warm guy. He's the wormiest guy. He's already I mean, he's already out there, you know, doing defense for AI, although also calling AI a fundamentally communist technology because he's stupid and says whatever he wants. Yeah, he did say that. He says it's a fundamentally communist technology because it can survey you , which is exclusively communist sort of thing. Is surveillance . Is his friend Peter Thiel Communist ? Absurd. Although I do want to like briefly I've been really down on JD and you're right, he's probably going to be the president very briefly. So I do want to like give him credit where it's due. Apparently JD has apologized for his childless cat lady comments in his book that he's trying to sell that those people won't read because he's a coward and a little cynical worm . Oh, I didn't give him credit. Oh well. No, fuck him. You tried. You really did try. You gave it the old college try. Before we go, Parker , you should definitely plug your stuff , but what have you been working on lately? Is there anything interesting that 's, you know, even hyper focused on or what have you? Yeah , so well , this isn't something I'm working on, but just something that I saw today that I haven't stopped being able to think about. It's a Financial Times article written by Hillary Rodem Clinton. The headline is The World May not Trump like's Gaza plan, but there is no alternative . And I haven't read it yet because I know it's going to make me mad, so there's that . But what I've been working on , I've been paying Paying a lot of attention to this sort of weird right wing backlash to pride nights at baseball games and like how quickly like, majorag Leue Baseball was like, hey guys , if you're gonna protest Pride nights at games, like just wear your normal hat. Don't wear the rainbow hat. It's totally cool . And you have like Josh Hawley writing letters to the league being like, we will drag you in front of Congress because you are religiously you're discriminating against players for writing Bible verses on their hats . And I've just been thinking about how whole like everything that they've always said about cancel culture, you know, stuff like that, it's like it just doesn't really exist in the way that they've said that it does. And obviously that's been true for a long time. But I saw a clip of the office actor, Rayne Wilson on Fox News talking about how you couldn't make the office today because it's because political correctness and stuff like that. And I was like thinking to myself, like when was the last big instance of someone getting like fired for their conservative views? And it's like not really not much in the past five years . And even then even that was not what it seemed. Yeah . Someone getting canceled means that they find a whole other audience , you know, like you get another job, Louis CK is back baby, you know, like yeah, it was it was like yeah, like I was like, okay, well like what's that comedian Shane Gillis? I was like, yeah, he got fired from SNL because of old podcast clips. And I was like, that was pretty that was seven years ago . Yeah. It's a long time ago. He's had a very successful career. He's hosted Elizan Essena. And like shows don't get cancelled for that sort of stuff. Which shows has been cancelled because you were reading this. Right, exactly. Also, maybe there's some like sketchy and even sketchy stuff, just sort of like some uncomfortable stuff in the first season of the office , but the point is that everyone around the guy thinks it's uncomfortable and bad. So it's just an absurd claim to make. This is surprising for Rayne Wilson actually. The funny thing is he's not even the first person from the office to say you couldn't make the office today. Mindy Kayling said that like four years ago You really could, though. You really could. You absolutely could. People this is the show that people watch to fall asleep to. It is not . And it's also it's lifted up as like pretty like corny millennial stuff like at this point and also I just like the phrase is so funny. Like if this office was on today and it was brand new and it was the way it was. There would be people who wouldn't get the fact that like, oh, they're like lifting up Michael Scott is this like really great boss. Like, well no they're not. You just don't understand TV. There would be people who don't get it, but it would still be made . It might be criticized and eventually cancelled for ratings, but it would get made . But also the office was on like NBC. It wasn't on HB O . So you could have said, Oh, you can't make the office in America with their rules on broadcast TV because the office UK has a bunch of stuff that they couldn't put in the office US because they had different broadcast rules for televis ion. So you were fine with that censorship. You were fine with not doing with Michael Scott not doing some of the stuff that David Brent did, right? But like, that didn't bother you, but now it wasn't a talking point at that moment in time. It wasn't a political theater . Well, also Rayne Wilson wasn't gonna like say like actually , you know, he's going to make a big deal and cost himself his career. So yeah. I mean, you can't put staplers in jello anymore because of woke No
