The Mandalorian and Grogu's Box Office - Last Week In Star WarsMay 30, 2026 — starts at 0:00

This is the way. This is the new way. This is the new cool way. That is absolutely diabolical. Diabolical In my opinion. why Leia and Han might be there. Not Han, which is interesting. He's in the parks, but he hasn't popped up in the comics yet. He's in carbonite in the comics. So like they can't explain why he's at the park really? Yeah What's up everyone, and welcome to Last Wek in Star Wars. I'm Alex. I'm Molly. And this week we're gonna to talk about the Mandalorian and Grogu's box offffice. The Book of Boba Fett is getting a comic adaptation. We learned a little more about Tar Vizla's Dark Saber and the mating rituals of the Blurgs. Well, I've always known about that This is new information to me. We're answering a lot more questions about the Mandalorian and Grogu, and we argue whether or not Coriander and Cilantro are the same thing. Important stuff all the way through. So for last weekend newews, we wanted to talk about the overall reaction to the Mandalorian and Grogu and also the box office. Always gotta talk box office. yeah We are not experts about that by any means, I would recommend you follow her friends Dan Merle or Perry Nimaroff. They cover that stuff on a weekly basis and they're way smarter about it than we are. Yeah, we've never really been big on covering the box office and also it's just like Yeah, it's obviously important for like the longevity of Star Wars and all that, but I'm way more interested in just how the movie made me feel. Yeah. I mean, if you're a fan of Star Wars, don't let box office numbers bog you down and like make you sad about a film if you liked it. Right. That's what bugs me is when people and like Dan and Perry don't do this, but some people will say The box office did this or that, therefore, you should love or should hate this movie. and it's like There are movies I love that were complete flops at the box office. Yeah. It doesn't matter. And you're right, like worrying about the future of Star Wars That does depend on its performance at the box office, but it's kind of like out of your control at that point. So Why worry about it? Looking into it myself, I saw some articles sayaying it was basically both extremes. some articles saying like, wow, this did surprisingly well and some articles saying Wow, this was a huge disappointment. To me that says it's probably somewhere in the middle of just like, it's performing okay. Yeah. It wasn't a massive massive. success. But it wasn't terrible. It's just it's doing fine. I think it hit one hundred and sixty three ish million. And it had a budget of one hundred and sixty five ish million Wwide numbers. Worldwide numbers. To me, that's a decent start. It's nothing mind blowing, but we've like almost made back budget. Yeah. and I'm really curious to know after this coming weekend, what those numbers look like because Some people, especially domestically, some people go on vacation during Memorial Day weekend and they're not home to go to the theater. So I think there'll be another significant jump after this weekend. Right. Yeahah, I think that this weekend is when people are gonna be able to tell much more. I think word of mouth is probably gonna do the movie good Yeah because it's got a what an A minus cinema score, an eighty High eighties on rotten tomatoes for fans score. eighty eight, I think. all of the not chronically online people that we talk to that have seen the movie. they're like loved it so much fun, you know, they would probably tell their coow workers that they really, really liked it. and recommend them to go and see it. Yeah. So that's I think the second weeke I'm not expecting it to do another one hundred sixty five million probablyably not I mean There's always a drop off, but We'll see. I know that there's more money they need to make before it turns a profit. I think like two point five times the budget is what they say a movie needs to make to get like it's budget plus marketing or something like that. I think that if physical releases were still as big of a deal as they used to be This would probably be a very like comfortable opening for Disney. where they're like, okay, made its budget on week one and it's still going to be in theaters for a while. And then when it comes out on DVD Everyone's going to buy it again. And now that's not really the case. like die H fans, we will buy the four K But Most people are just like, well, it's on streaming. so I don't to do that. Yeah, a lot of people already are signed up for Disney plus and when it comes out on there, they might watch it again. They will most likely put out a physical copy of it at some point, but It's just like that business doesn't do well anymore. I think Disney even got rid of their like entire home entertainment staff, the people that like are in charge of like putting out physical releases. It's just another way that like this whole streaming war situation has really messed with industry. It's like I feel like we had a pretty good thing going. There's some great sound bites that have been passed around by like I think Matt Damon and other people in the industry talking about how these smallmaller, these mid budget movies used to do great because of DVD and physical media and now with streaming studios make movies like that anymore. They can't rely on physical media and U Yeah, it's kind of a double edged sword because Once one big any puts out a streaming service than all the other ones had to do it And now it's kind of just like, well, we can't just stop Right Right, because now you've given it out and people are going to be upset. I would be upset if they just took it all away, but also it's like every streaming service goes up in price constantly and like It's a trap. It wasn't broken and They broke it. Sure. When it was just Netflix and it was like movies were kind of cycling in and out That was kind of nice, but now it's like you to subscribe to every single service if you want access to all the movies that you want and Whatever. That's a that's a tangent for another discussion. I don't know anything about running a business like Disney obviously, or the decisions they make for the streaming service, but If they want to keep upping the price Maybe It would make sense if if like people wanted to separate out their subscriptions as in like you pay more per month if you want access to all the movies. If you're just there to watch shows, maybe you pay less. I think that would be a huge uproar. Probably, but I don't know, If they're trying to make money on movies They're not making any more through Disney plus subscriptions. Oh yeah, I know. That's what I'm saying. It's like It wasn't rok the system probably could have been improved, but y'all diffed it. Maybe they're trying to make up for it with the popcorn buckets That was a fix it. That eighty eighty popcorn bucket was eighty dollars. Ridiculous. I was like, no freaking way. That's gonna be in someone's yard sale in a couple of years Buy it then Speaking of Disney plus physical releases The Book of Boba Fet is kinda getting one, not on four K, but they are doing a comic adaptation that's going to start in September. It'll be seven issues, so one issue per episode. I'm not surprised they're doing this because they did it for seeasons one and two of the Mandalorian Everything that comes out shows movies gets a comic adaptation. Yeah. A lot of it eventually will get a comic adaptation. But I would love to get Book of Buba Fet on four K. It's still strange to me that I guess we'll just keep complaining about physical releases, but they went straight from season two to season three of Mando And now If you want to cancel your Disney plus subscription, you can't see Grogu and Mando get back together. That's crazy. That is absolutely diabolical. Diabolical. In my opinion But maybe this is their way of like, Like the Star Wars comics just have been super messy and probably not that successful. So maybe this is their way of like, let's put out the comic adaptation before physical four K release. That kind of reminds me that Dark Horse who they do all of the All ages releases. they just announced that they're unionizing. I don't I need to look into what they're and just the details about it more, but I was like, o, good for them because I don't know much about the comics industry, but Dark Horse as a company seems like they've been really struggling to keep a schedule. Yeah. And I don't know if they're like really running their workers raw or like what's happening, but I mean, just with AI creeping around every corner, I think it's smart to unionize. I agree. I learned about this adaptation through a tweet by Collider who said you know, they have to put click bay titles and it was have to. It's kind of like They said something like Book of Bubafet finally getting an expansion which is like, This is not an expansion that makes it sound like it's going to be another season or something al R And like just of ridiculously click bay article. And then I was like trying to read the article and it didn't say anything about it being an adaptation. I had to go to a different website that then said This is just an adaptation of the series which is what I figured, but like Why go through all that Just tell people what it is. This kind of brings us full circle back to the box office talk and just the fact that Star Wars no matter what. gets clicks people are interested And that's why like you see the two extremes of like, this is either the best thing that's happened for Disney. I don't I don't think I saw anything that extreme, but it was like this is a surprising win for Disney or It's a huge disappointment and Star Wars will never recover from this. Oh yeah peopleople love to say, you know, this is the nail in the coffin. I'm sure we'll see it again next year when Starfighter comes out. I bet you, if you log out of your YouTube so like you get away from your personalized algorithm and you search Star Wars, like V hiously. mostost likely the top ten to twenty if not more things that pop up will be AI or something about how Star Wars sucks now and it's terrible and you should Never watch it again and that it's dead. Be that's. That's what YouTube promotes. They promote things that make people angry because then it drives people to go and comment or share it or whatever. And not just YouTube, it's the whole internet. But it's also just across the board with News in general, That's how it is. Everything has to be sensationalized to Hellen back. But moving into last week in Canon, we had three things come out, two comic issues, which is exciting. We've either been getting like none or one at a time. And we also had the visual guide for the Mandalorian come out. But you've looked through quite a bit of it. I forgot to bring it upstairs. I was going br it up here and put on the table. but yeah, I'm a little over halfway through and then I flipped through kind of just the end pages. but It's, you know, the visual guide It's just covering the shows And so it is broken up into three parts and like, part is like a season of the Mandalorian, but it's not revealing a whole lot of stuff. Like a lot of people, this book actually came out in the UK a while ago. which is strange. When it did come out there people were looking through it and I saw a lot of people saying that they were mad because They're not naming a lot of the characters that you would think that they might give a name to. Cient frog lady, frog man, frog baby. Right. The mythreal that kind of stuff doesn't bug me that much, but There is some cool facts and information in it. I really like so they talked about Par the Dark Saber a little more and said that ar got an Onyx Kyber crystal from Illem. and I was like That's really neat. That's cool to know. Yeah. So and like we know so little about the Dark Saber. so any little Nuggets like that that come out. is exciting. I agree. I know they have the Back crystal in the parks. It used to come in a red canister and you would like only get it It was like one raly I don't know what the ratio was, but yeah. I don't know how they sell it now. I don't know if they call it an onyx crystal or not, but I think it was Obsidian. I don't remember. Yeah. It's black crystal. Black crystal. It goes into a little bit of the design where like The black part of the saber is just like an absence of light It's not black. Hm So there's like little tidbits like that always get me excited. And historically stuff like that in visual guides is always subject to change. Yes. if they want to go into it later. That's important to knowe. It's kind of like filling in gaps in the absence of story details and sometimes a story will smooth over those gaps with something different The visual guide was written by Pablo Hidalgo and Again, there's a lot of really vague stuff and characters that don't get a name when they when you thought that they might Th then there's stuff like the mating rituals of the Burgs and how now we know that the female blerk eats the male after they've mated And well, that's not brand new information I don't know why I've known that for. Why have you known that? I don't know. I thought that was new information. I'm really into blurgs for a while. There's two different subspecies of dobacks. Now we know that. Oh, this was something that I thought was fun is we got think it was the homeworld for Gory and Shard It was the H homeworld or the species. I think it was homeomeworld. and he's from the planet Dania which I believe is an Indian word for the coriander leaf So that's why like he looks like he's made out of Ciander, so I don't know what Coriander looks like. It looks kind of like Cilantro Cilantro. Yeah, it's just a leafy green. I think it is cilantro. Coriander is cilantro. Really? Yeah. That's what they call it in the UK, I think Oh, but I thought those were different things because this isn't coriander seed up. Now we're getting into spices explained here. So you can have coriander seeds Okay. But then I think coriander leaves are the same thing as cilantro. Okay. I could be wrong. I don't know. This is a weird tangent to be on, but anyway, it was a funny planet name. Oh that's to say If you're suuper nerdy like I am about little minute details of Star Wars you will enjoy flipping through the book. Yeah. We also got the second issue for Pathfinders and for Echoes of the Empire. I want to start with Pathfinders because I really liked that issue. This one was super cool and just gave me vibes of like old school marble Weird Starws. Yes And sometimes it takes a couple issues to really understand what a series is. And I was like, oh, This feels like an adventure of the week. kindind of it's a full season. There was development for the overall story, but also it was like this weird tangent. So The pathfinders are investigating a murder and they are going to their next location through Hyperspace And then the Jedi ship There's two ships. The the Jedi ship gets pulled into this rift. in space where there are no stars like they're on a void. They're just it's it's almost like a black hole And you can see like the rift, you can see stars on the other side, but while they're there, they get attacked by this eldritch horror thing It's kind of like they figure this was all created as like a trap to feed this monster. Yes And so the Republic team on the other side has to call for another Jedi to come help and it's Ruper Natani. She was a Padawan in phase two of the High Republic So she comes goes into the rift and like She fights off the monster. There's a hole in the ship, and then she flies her ship up against it to seal the gap. And I was like, that's sick. They fly back out. I just thought that This is exactly what I wanted from Pathfinder teams when they were talking about them in phase two They made a big deal out of them and how dangerous it was to be a hyperspace prospector. That's what really stood out. to me, like in this time period Traveling through hyperspace lanes is fairly new And there's people like this that are out scouting stuff like this and they are running into random black hole traps and all kinds of weird problems. And they report back and they're like They're doing their job. They're like, let's mark this off of all of our map like official maps des and just make sure no one else ends up here. So like those coordinates are like sealed off or something. That hyperspace lane, they were like, it's not safe. Close the lane. Yeah. We can't use this hyperspace road anymore. just interesting. like it's kind of like opening up and putting in to your maps app like where you're going And it's telling you you have to go a different route because becauseuse monsters. Monsters in black hole. Yeah, careareful. there's ast there's a dinosaur on the road. Don't go that way. We've closed that road. It's just funny to think of hyerspace lanes like that. And that's they talked about the hyperspace pathfinding teams a lot in phhase two. And then they weren't really that central when the books and comics are coming out, but this I'm like Yes. This feels like I'm learning something new about how the galaxy expanded, it just makes findindings seem very dangerous. I like all the characters. And then at the end, We find out that one of their droids was kind of sabotaged to lead them this way and to pull them off of the murder investigation. So it's like, okay. Yeah, it connects back to the overall story which is important because a lot of other comics don't do that if they're just going to have like a random side adventure a lot of times they don't tie it in to the overarching story and this one did. and I was like, thank you. It's not that hard. Yeah. George Man You get one of these We also got echoes of the Empire issue two. This is the sequel trilogy slash original trilogy, Galaxy's Edge story where Ray is learning from Oga of Oga's Cantina about the time that Darth Vader and Leia and Cheewy and Luke came to Batu. This one was fine. Yeah, so Vader showed up at the end of the first issue and he basically everyone is looking for this McGuffin, this force relic that looks like a little green egg. and Doc on Dar had it but fader finds it and takes it and also attacks Leia and Chheewy, but all of the citizens of Batu are not going to stand for that and so they they prepare to fight Vader And that's how the issue ends. So I'm like That's probably not going to go great, but it's still cool to see them all ready to fight. I know in my brain that this series was made to explain why the park moved the time line back to the original trilogy So I can't really turn that completely off, but That's just how these comics read from start to finish. It's just explaining why Vader would be on Batu or why Reay might be there or why Leia and Han might be there. And it's like Not Han, which is interesting. Like that there's like some strange timeline. He's in he's in the parks, but he hasn't popp up in the comics yet. He's in carbonite in the comics. So like they can't explain why he's at the park really. Yeah. That See that bugs me. And in their minds they're probably like, well, we can't have just Leia and Nohan. I'm like, Yes, you can. She's done lots of stuff on her own. They could have written something about how Boba Fett had to make another detour to take the carbonhyide slab there and just push the slab around the park It just feels like, all right, how do I explain this business decision that Disney has come up with in a lower perspective I don't know. it's not my favorite series, but I do like that they Ray in it It's a time travel kind of story, so like some pages are from Ray's perspective in the future and they're telling stories from the past I do think that that was good, a nice way to transition from sequel to original trilogy. and to explain why Reay is still in the parks. Yeah And it also allows us for any like weird continuity things that it's like, well This is being told from Oga and Oga could just be getting details wrong. I said that like Luke shouldn't really be using his green lightsaber in this, but Oga just got the detail wrong is my head cananon. I'm thinking a lot more about the idea that Han shouldn't be there and justust from some of the clips that I've seen of Han and Leia from the parks They bicker like you would expect them to. And I imagine Disney wanted that. so that all the other married couples see that and be like Oh good, it's not just us. Yeah, not just us. I think I do think that's funny Moving on to last week in Questions, we took quite a few still about the Mandalorian and Grogu. We're just gonna keep that going, but we pulled some from Patreon and Blueky and Twitter and YouTube, and first up, Mr. JD Rice asks if Ibo saw Den's face and now needs to die Dave Baloney is not gonna kill Imbo. Let's just put that out there. Yeah. anotherother Clone Wars character that Dave happens to voice. Yeah, I never once thought that Imbo was in danger. But did he see Den's face? I don't think so. So he delivers I did pay attention to this our third viewing. He brings Den into the hut throne room and they do show him walking away towards the door. They don't like show the door opening and him leaving, but I think that the implication is that he's like, well, my job is done, I'm out of here. Yeah. I imagine him just standing in the corner going Yeah. se his face. He's doing the Indiana Jones in the back. like donon't look at him. Don't look at him and he won't kill us coovering up Kibu's eyes too. Yeah. Brino La asks if we think we'll see the original plan for the convergence of the Mandoverse and Dan Anderson asks what we think is in the future for the Mandalorian franchise. What do we think the original convergence plan was? I mean, yeah, I don't think that we are going to see the original plan because it involved Rangers of the New Republic. R For example. We're never going to see any kind of original plan. I do think that they're probably still trying to build up to a Falloney movie. I think that there is going to be big end to all of this and The Mandalorian and Grogu may have been a test to see like, all right, how did this go? Is this financially viable to move the conclusion of this all onto the big screen? or maybe they keep it smaller budget and it's just on Disney pllus? I don't know Yeah, it depends on how long they would have milk. of the Mandalorian and Grogu. And we kind of touched on this last week, but I personally feel like they're probably going to start moving towards that conclusion. because of the state of streaming and everything, I don't think they're going to keep on doing several seasons of the Mandalorian Oassoka I think that there's a chance for a season for maybe a five and even potentially beond the movie, I don't know, but I do think that they're probably like let's start to bring this thrawn storyline full circle Yeah. I mean, I would love to see I guess originally they were going do like a D Falononey movie And we talked about that before. I would love to see that be the culmination of all of the Mandoverse shows. I agree I think just because that was the original plan, I hope they get to do it, whether it's on screen or on Disney pllus I'm curious if now that Faloney is co president, maybe he would pass directing on to Fabreaux or someone else. I don't know if he would Brice Delles Howard. Brice Dallas Howard would be a great choice. I just don't know if he's going to have the time to direct while also working on literally everything else. Yeah. I would be shocked if you were still going to direct it But I would like to see att least one more season of the Mandalorian Obviously we're getting a season two of Assoka maybe a third season of that Like I don't want the Mandoverse shows to just kind of like fizzle out I hope they decide to go out with a bang and like yeah, do it on the big screen. Right. We've compared the Mandaverse and like any Disney plus show to how Apple TV or Amazon handles things where it's like They just commit to shows, whether like we love for All mankind, I don't know very many people who actively watch and talk about that show but it's going to have a sixth and final season next year or in a year we're on the season five right now and it's getting a spin offff seeason three of like Rings of P is going to come out later this year and they've already begun work on season four like Amazon and Apple have that money to just throw around and commit to things And I mean I know Disney doesn't have that same level of money, but like, They're still they make plenty of money. likeike commit. just commit. I feel like Disney just has Penty of money, but it's being spread out a little more thin than the other like big studios Yeah, I mean when they'd started Disney pllus, they just threw everything at the wall. But my hope is that we get some more Mandalorory and I would hope for another season. I would prefer a season over a movie, I think, but Who knows? As far as the future of Dinjarin and Grogu Do you want to see then become the new leader of Mandalore No, I think they kind of left that behind. Like that in season one especially in episode two, you know, he's like being beaten up by Jahwas and he's lying there in the mud. and I was like, okay I could see this being the story of a foundling with very humble beginnings to becomes the Mandalorian, like the Mandalore. And then they kept that going with him getting the Dark Saber and him struggling to wield it and not understanding its power. And then in season three you just gave it to Bo Katan and they broke it Yeah. And I was like, oh It doesn't seem like he's interested in that and it's more about the father son relationship, which is okay, but Yeah, I don't think that's where his story is headed any moreore. Yeah, after they destroyed the Dark Saber. I thought Okay The Mandalorians are back on Mandalore. They're trying to rebuild it But Are they going to keep any of those same like rules or rule sets like the Creed and everything, like if they don't have the Dark Saber anymore, do they even need mandalore official anymore. Right. I mean, I think Boatan is kind of taking that role, but it's a good point. They're they're blending together a bunch of different kinds of Mandalorians. Yeah. and I'd be fine with that honestly if they just were like, we're going to restart everything. We're going create our own way, this is the way This is the new way. This is the new cool way We got to see the mythosaur Yeah. they hinted at that and like if they never showed it again, that would be really strange. Right. again, we're going back to season one episode one and Cail foreshadowing like your ancestors wrad mythosaurs, you can handle a blurg. And then that just feels like when you show us the mythosaur That's what we think about. Maybe in the big culbination Movie. Thron's forces will end up on Mandalore and then will ride the Mythasaur into the battle or something. They're gonna attach rockets to the Mythosar, put a helmet on him. He's gonna to basically be a living spaceship fire. advanced ride in a crate draon Gro Goog come in on I don't know, a rancor or something. Just something manageable for him. smallmaller. Yeah. Boba Fectt can have the rancor And then Grogu is backack in IG eleven. I don't know. At Ron Rico seventy five and Juno Draws twenty four both asked why Grogu was able to cure Grief Karga from the poison completely in season one of the Mandalorian but why it seemed to take longer for Den to heal after being bit by the Dragon snake and still healed through the force. There is a big discussion, maybe not big. I'm just chronically online looking at comments and stuff. So I saw quite a few people talking about the difference between poison and venom. So the difference is venom is actively injected into a victim using fang, stingers, whatever Poison is passively absorbed through the skin or inhaled or ingested, swallllowed like, okay So kind of like from animals versus being, I don't know manufactured and given to someone, I'm sure it's more complicated than that. but I don't know, I don't really think that matters. Yeah, I mean that's Sing all that doesn't necessarily mean that's how it works in Star Wars. I mean, I think that's I guess it's venom in both cases because it was coming from a creature, a creature hurt, Grief Karga, a creature bit Denjarin, so it's venom either way. Right. But the dragon snake is huge. My head canon for this is just that the creatures are much different sizes, like There was like a dragon bat I think is what I don't even know if it has a name yet It's just like these flying creatures on Navarro. So that that's what attacked Grief Karga and then the Dragon snake is huge. So In my head, cananon I'm like, o, the dragon snake venom is much more potent and when you heal through the force you're kind of like taking on the properties of whatever you're healing. So Tiny little grogu He can't take on all that Potent dragon snake venom. He can only heal so much Yeah before it starts to hurt him. So he heals the wound itself and is not able to heal or pull out all of the But you pointed out that You also doesn't get to him. quickly enough. Right. Grief Karga gets hurt on the arm and Yoda comes up and immediately heals you. Yoda comes up. Grogu waddles up immediately and heals him. Din is bit And then Grogu comes and like blows a hole in the thing. then they fall in. Also, he's in dirty sewer water this same time he's definitely got an infection into the lake. and he picks up all the little guys and they run off and get to the ship and then Den runs the other way. He's like pumping his blood and this venom is going through his body. And then Grogu goes and heals him. I think that time could also be a factor here. Yeah, the longer the venom sits and, you, gets pumped through his body, by the time Grogu gets to him to heal him it's probably just too far along. I think my additional head canon is also that He did save Den's life. He would have died right away, but Grogu stabilized him and then whatever Gatori gave Grogu to give Den probably like finished the job. Yeah whichich I was happy to see that Grogu still needed He still needed kind of like an antidote or something because even though Grogu is force sensitive He can't just do everything. He can't just like wave his hand and fix everything. Everyone thinks the magic H thing does it all. And like That's that was a whole other you know, kind of theme of the movie where Getori is talking to Grogu and is like Sometimes it's just time to say goodbye. so I think that was meaningful and needed to stay there. AARSWFT asks why does the Mandovers seem to imply the newew Republic has maybe ten pilots tops all over the age of fifty? That gave me a good laugh, but I do think it kind of works with we know about the New Republic from like L shot and the aftermath trilogy and just the overall demilitarization of the New Republic. Yeah, it's like they stripped a lot of it away and they really downsized everything. so yeah, the amount of pilots that they have on these bases is significantly lower than what it was before. Like I said, I haven't the whole Mandalorian Visual guide yet, but you pointed out that there was some stuff in there about how the N Republic isn't fully supporting its military and is purposefully kind of keeping it small. Yeah, there's like little hints about that basic idea throughout the book And then there's like a couple very vague pages at the end having to do with the movie. and they talk about the Adelphi base being far away on the outskirts and understaffed. so I guess it makes sense that like there just aren't as many pilots around in the ones that are there are like the more like grizzled war veterans the people who served in the rebellion. Also, it is like a beach planet. It doesn't seem like the worst posting. So maybe like retirement face. Maybe it is kind of a place for people who served and fought in the rebellion to be like Why don't you just go chill in the outer rim on a beach planet? notothing bad is going to happen out there and then Cararsanteva, poor Caranteva keeps running into this Mandalorian fellow who's just making a mess of things. Just always causing a ruckus. And now they have Rata there so Party all the time. There's no better base than a Delphi base now that Rada is there. Everyone's lining up to arm wrestle Rada Vctatron and a Nicki Fly eighty five both ask what's the age difference for Rada and Grou So We don't know exactly when Rada was born was around twenty two to twenty four BBY. Meaning he was very, very young. when the Clone Wars movie happened. He was just a baby hutlet. Yeah, as we all know Please That makes him in his early to mid thirties by the time of the movie, so he is still very young. for a hut. Yeah. Obviously they say he had a growth spurt and he's he's his own man in his own but. He looks great He's keeping it tight I do think it's funny that he says like when I was his age, I was alone talking about Grogu and I'm like, you're younger than he is. Yeah. But he doesn't know that. And you know, just the fact that Grogu is tiny, doesn't speak, acts like a child He would say that I think he means like when I was relatively his age I was alone that I think that probably anyone has to have that understanding in the Star Wars Galaxy that We all know that we're aging at different levels, but when I was at that level, but yeah I saw a lot of people generally confused about their age difference. So Rod' in his thirties Grogu is technically fifty, but the way that their species age Rota, I guess would be like a young teen ish And Krogu is just still baby. Is's it like I get the feeling, Rada does likeike he's in his, I would say early twenties personally, just I don't know, based on vibes And I do wonder if theseese species just are very little and then they Hit a growth spurt and now they're talking and like maybe Grou is just gonna have a very intense puberty all of a sudden and basically be an adult. I don't know if I want to see that I want to know you. And I feel like a lot of people are like I want him to stay a baby. Like I don't even know if I really want to see him talk I trust them to do it the right way when and if that time comes. we'll see. I mean, you didn't like his name when you first heard it It's true, but you warmed up. Yeah. Darth Astris and father of the Jedi IG ask how the gunrunner ship ended up on Nalhutta another reoccurring question that I saw across all the platforms that I posted on people were confused when and how that ship the swamp planet. And we definitely have to make leaps and just speculate because I've also had the same thought and I guess I figured We see Ebo tracking the ship. So he probably alerted the Hutts. He's like, I'm going to stay here and get the Mandalorian But here's the ship. And someone may have been in orbit or able to intercept it pull it into a tractor beam or maybe ships just came and said, Hey, you're coming with us or we're going to blow you up. That's kind of all I've got. And that's pretty much it. And that ship was piloted by a droid. Yeah So maybe they took over the Droids programming or something like We definitely don't know for sure, but I can think of several ways that it could have happened. Yeah. Another couple of questions that kept coming up was where Den got all of his weapons back from after He was kind of out for the count and I was like, That ship is a weapons or a gunner un A gun runner ship and it was like full of weapons. so that's where he kind of restocks everything, including the pulse r. I didn't notice there were like three pulse rifles in there, which I was like, takeake them all, man. Those are like slow to reload. Yeah. you could just have three on your back. His blaster is knife, all that stuff, we can just assume He was able to restock on the ship Hernan Frank Ratch asks how we feel about this being the first Star Wars movie without a lightsaber And I mean, I would say that this is the first movie to do a lot of things for the first time like opening credits or no one saying I have a bad feeling about this I'm fine with it, honestly. The bad feeling about this thing, especially I'm kind of like we need to leave that behind because The more you do that, it starts to just feel forced. Yes, I agree Like I've done a video just about ranking like that I have a bad feeling about this line deliveries. and sometimes it just doesn't land. and I think that people put it in there because they feel like they have to instead of hitting a moment where you're like this would work really well and it would feel new and at least a little different. or like Han saying, I have a really good feeling about this. is a fun twist on a tradition. We can have these kind of Star Wars staples, but they don't need to appear in every single one. Oh, this was also the first movie that didn't start with a long time ago in a galaxy far far away I do wish that were there. Like that's a staple for any movie that I'm like That can stay, but Was that ahead of like Solo and Rogue one and all that? Yep I didn't even really notice the absence of that or I didn't really miss the crawl. I didn't mind the credits, like I feel like If you start to think of Star Wars movies as a checklist of things that they have to have, like kindind of takes the fun and the joy out of making Star Wars movies. I agree. You don't want it to be boxes that you're checking Oh we have to include this because every other movie did it. Like I wonder if there was a bit of a mandate of like, hey, let's just rip the bandaid off and do some of these things and I think that that is okay. Yeah. We talked a lot about how this movie feels kind of a safe story But in a lot of ways, It was not a safe movie for them to make because of all the changes, no lightsabers, beginning credits. No I have a bad feeling about this. No long time ago. so And there's like, A ton of just puppets And that whole bit with Grogu with no dialogue is in there. So like there's a lot about this movie that wasn't safe for them to do. I also think this is another one of those things we're reading books and comics and playing all like being a completionist me accept all of this very easily because not every book says I have a bad feeling about this. Not every book has lightsabers, not every like I've read plenty of Star Wars stories that have broken these traditions. so I'm like, this doesn't feel that strange to me. The credits, the opening credits was the big thing that I was like Oh now this is new. This is a big first. And You know, that there's history behind that and like George Lucas didn't want opening credits because he felt like it pulled you out of the universe and even like went so far as to pay fines for not having that as part of his films. But I just don't think it's necessary anymore if you don't want to do that. L you shouldn't have to put anything in your Star Wars movie If you don't want it. I agree. It should be up to each individual creator. And just the fact that we got to see Brendan Wayne and Latif Grder's names right at the start Like that's important to give them recognition As much credit and give them their flowers for that performance because They are the Mandalorian way more than Pedro is. And I think when we take a step back from some of these traditions and they happen sometimes but not all the time, that makes them each a little more fun, a little more special when they do pop up. Kind of like the Wilhelm screen. They have stepped away from that for quite a while now. Sometimes it still sneaks its way in and you're like, n, Will Helm I missed you. Yeah. But that's it for last week in Star Wars. Next week, we are probably going to take the week off unless some Crazy news happens. We're going on vacation with some friends and so we're probably just not going to have time do our usual podcast Instead, I have a great interview that I recorded this past week with David W.
