But Zanis' like a bit of a He isn't it he's? Oh yeah, yeah, abbsolutely. This is This is Zizu and Karen. That's lively. That's lovely. You had it? He was a great player. abbsolutely. Magnificent. I think he was at Bordeaux wasn't he? And he was a bit like heavy in his body. He was like quite like buildild was heavy and all of a sudden he goes to events and he just He's like you seem now. because United we were trying to get him outn't. I remember everyone was chat about him and he was come to United Yeah, he did look When when you I remember when when Patrick and When they talk about it, they talked about him like it was lauded like a god. You know, they'd always start a conversation. as anything like o. Itas it Bardau is that was a Bardau, was Bordaux? It could be right. wasas it that at Bordeau? Yeah with Dugurer. Dougery, yeah. Do you know what because of what's happening with Rinaldo, and Messi get. And the Brazilian Ronaldo gets mentioned. He very rarely gets mentioned as one of the greatest of all times. Zadan. So do you think about we always say Crof or Maradonna Pelle? you always say Messi. Zan has Raldo now he has kept into that. I don't know. I think he'san just under thenees. I don't know.ose. you don't get So what differentiates him not being amongst him when he's won everything like? Not me, I would put him up thean I get it Because like it's that Figo. Figo and Zan, you think they don't get put No no Figo's not out as You don't think Figo is the same greatreat player, but like I think Zedan's Yeah Figo Even though I think Figo's documentary is still the best documentary ever. I'm not seing it, got to watch. Do you know what? can I tell you something? I everyone in it. I know an protagonist. But you get fed up with these documentaries this is. We're getting brainwashed by documentaries. Yout watch this? Yeah remember it was about the galacticalos and the start of the galactical. what do we need truthfully what do we need to watch to kind of learn from you? about who you know what I Yeah, but that's what I said Yeah. But like when I watched it Because of the fact that when that happened, it's like, my Godd he's leaving Barcelon, he's going in. And then you've got a situation where we can find out everything. And everybody was involved in it, Roy, this is what I say to you to watch. I've told you before, the same with's everybody been agent The agents, everybody who's had something to do with it is in the The deal.' in the show you can You you can get answers from everybody in the end. So I don't want to give anything away, but you know you know who the bad guy is ' talking Because you need to watch it. You know who init Why does that everything? But why does it have to be a bad guy? It's not even a bad guy, name maybe it's the wrong wayd, but you know Oo initiated everything who wanted this st happenppnt.. What the president or something like No? What are you talking about? Fgos You got me intrigued. You've to watch it because I need you to watch it so you can see we come to the same conclusion, right? I'm sure we will. what' you talk about the transfer from Barcelon toar to in Madrid? Yeah. Soo who made that happen, you mean? Yeah and how it happened and how it came about. I one of his teammatesers. was there a players or a twist in this? And who was what's the name of the guy How much did he go for a Ride? It was it a crazy money at the time? Yeah ye yeah Yeah So tell us the answers, I'm not going to watch this document. I'm not to watch T tells me're not going to watch Oh, no, that's lazy. I' not gonna watch. This is we're football people and that is one of that is a a seminal moment for football and what with the Galactical you don't want to walk. so we want the story. The story is The Barcelona captain leaving Barcelona to go to their biggest rivals in Real Madrid and they start the Galacticos. Why do I need to tell you more than that? There's so much on there Who's the b guy? What's this b guy thing though? I don want to tell you the bad guy. N' not a bad guy has to be a bad guy. But Why don't you tell us? Because you have to watch it yourself says then when we speak about it, then we can all have a different. What if we threat you, we're not going to let youave room you grab them There. I don't care I've had that before. My brothers used to do that to me all the time. C a sp I will watch it Rudy. I honestly I'm desperate for you to watch. So he was the first one. He was the first Galactical. Is that right? And it all started from I didn't know that much to be fair. I knew it start from it. Was he the first Galacticical? That's. you watch it, you'll see it. okay. So this is what I'm saying. L instead of saying like coming back with stupidort, you watch it and you' be able to say something real substance. That can' is made youre really angry this one. It's not made you angry I drtly muchatter. Well last d, yeah So are your bit tips I'm not tipsy. I wasn't tips You know what I mean? Ik I like I carried I carried it to your room. Do you remember that thing? I was walking was walking around over looking for sood. No, I always used to class it when I used to drink. I always class as a bad night if I remember getting home. know I don't really drink that much and just like just it was a nice setting. it was a nice the drink was nice and cold. It was lovely. It was amongst people two minutes away. Nice Sam D was Yeah, I felt really good I wasn't when I went to bed I wasn't, oh go, the room's spinning. You know what I mean? It's just like, I feel really nice. I to wash feeleding ever. Oh the room I put your foot out of bed.. The worst one for me is doing when you go to the toilet When you had a drink, if you've drk too much and your head just fall. It was the wall. you know that one justust the w you just book the wall. But the thing I like when go I like when people have been drinking and you go in the toilet and you see someone holding the wall. That's the holding the wall is the best one. God it's brilliant. When they saw that team sheep come out of Brazil, I was thinking, I'm not afraid of them. they don't have that no more. I don't think Scottland should be in the mindic on. We've got our three points. now couldould we get through with three point? No, no, no, I think you can get results against Morocco in Brazil. Really do What day is How long have we been here, by the way? We've been just for about very week a week.' Yeah not today I feel it's been R six days iss long T todayay fe' is long You know what I mean? She know why Be in England it feels like r The job wasn't kicked off yet. Oh, he doesn't feel like. I'm homesick today. just me family, my dog, and my own mugy, my own ball of cereal just know, it's not, know, everymorrow I' going go for breakfast and engaging with people, it's tiring inn't No it is. it's not normal, is it? When you sit at home you're your own kitchen on your own enag withy. I went to Starbucks this morning at six o'clock I just had to go out I was a little bit the same. I thought, Joe. Yeah, just u B of U time. Yeah. It what of Starbucks over there. Sinda. I do like Brooklyn Oh I look Rross love Yes. Yeahah Just something. So I was thinking New York for six weeks. I've had some bad experience. I was Everyone says's amazing. It's amazing and I's not ha it at all. And then Brooklyn changed my mind. S him here Weved lived in beautiful place. When you say you like Brooklyn Why' you like There's a nice energy to it. There's a nice calmness and everybody seems so friendly and everybody's so cool. It just feels nice. There's an energy g that you don't feel like you have anything. It reminds me of soo in London or the Northern cor of mananchion soo no. They'll bit like the brick and the industrial sort of mills and the sort of Yeah there's a bit adjust withs what I like about no one's walking around with a suit on thing, you know If you think about it, if you go over there to the other side of the river, everyone's walking around quick with suits on aggressive. back area. was here, everyone's just walking around, like excuse me easts London It kind of anerudious one. I love the idea as well. When't you at the restaurant, walking back in the nice evening, You know what I mean your p I love wearing shorts.erry out veryy tight pants.t need w Roy made me walk. It was right for us to walk home though that night, wasn't it? It was pererfect. That's exactly when you walk back, you've had aice you had a before pizzas. So you walk it off. Roy made me walk back fifty minutes s on It's not fifty. It wasn't fifty minutes and Even Ridy, Ridy's not great physically are you with your knee. any back it was delighted. Oh and it was nice and it was a nice temperature gal. You know what I mean? It was just nice love me a pass, you know? It's really great g to be here because you know, I've been to Miami that Is it West cooast or is it West Palm Beach, sorry? And it don't feel lived in It's like empty. It's like twenty eight days later. you can go out and just wk it's empty And you come and it's a lived in place, you know what I mean with people, like the business, everything el's happening. It just feels real just Israel like London I've never been to places in America that I've really liked and I think I must have been to the wrong places and I think it's absolutely that because in the last month I've been to two places that I love. Napa Valley in California, which is like roolling hills. What was going under? Green. It was went to a vineignyardic an event vineyards in. you' have been hiking us some bit of a vineyard, right? was that tasting wine was wow. Yeahah, Tough lifeavour. Wow. Unbelievable And then Brooklyn is the opposite of that. indndustrial mills So two placeays I've been changing mind wine tissars huh Yeah. A little bit of w player man you made progress.' that you set that on there? wine tasty. just Is that where you're like spitting it out in our land? N' not spitting it out I drink it. Oh you dr a little bit of drink here. You didn't put we into the grapes and stamping on the grapes, No No, no, no. We weren't doing that. just we were getting the story though, the vineyard about how they sort of have it and just something. they were talking about the temperature and everything And then there's one point This wine was it was the I point where the main guy , what'd you call? The master M Mi Yeah, the master he has to pick the point where literally A lot of people from the local village or town come in And they have to pick them within twenty four hours and they have to get them Tim inj. Ting perfection of actually at the time. He wass like there' that too Pick what The timing So he does it So basically they're not ri and they're not too good, you know, it's like the absolute And what they use the people in town to taste it So they. they use the people in town to actually pick them. So you obvious got these acres of vines Yeah. So you can imagine that they need people to come in and put And how old is the guy who decided like experienced forty he done it since he was younger and this's one of the best vineyards in America Re It was an experienced, how brilliant he was And then they take you down to what other the barrels are now long the hearts. It's a it Not is it? I like that. O onnce you get into stuff like that because it' not something say I wouldn't do that. but if I went to someone sold that because of the passion that they have you you get involved with it. don't know I went on a tour in Cck a few years ago at the Middleon whiskey place. Yeah Oh it'sensive that stuff,'t Yeah, the factory just showed you all the bounds and o, this is interesting? Really interesting Yeah, the whiskey midled and rare, be beautiful stuff drinking it the bottles looked. you're investing in it, weren't you? I probably got. The guy told me that you've got some rare investment And what about that?s This taxi driver, right? I was in Dublin and this guy said It's ob was a taxi driver. They've got all this ins information. G not Barbers. Roy's got some rare investment grade Whiskey I. Why drive. Fameous Iris and believe none of what you hear and half of what you see But was it true Let leave half I know what you there on half what you see. This taxi driver But how would he know that He said you've been to the Middleton? Because somebody obviously seems in there and then they told somebody and told somebodyone if someone from what was it called, Middleton Whiskey, if someone could just send us a bottle for the show for the set, please So we can have just, you know, a little, little taste of of rise, I don't send any of my stuff, yeah ven' got got a little there. Oh I did ye Yeah, I'm not gonna to deny you. Yeah. How many bles Youve got barrels sn How many bottles have you got couple He's about to I love I want to kill a taxi driver when I. You might got me from a vineyard,? You can always tell when Roy' suffering happs because he can he can't hide he can't hide in his face. Is that the end of the show? He'll be going on my relationship. I'll makeake up next es. God to about that people give us we got too much stuff for that guy. We were chatting yesterday about players losing a bit of form. You know you got two spells in your career. never happened to me, but the lads were saying, you got a b I never saying. You you were in the room no, not in the room when you was said was at the table? yeah, but when it originally happened yesterday. He says I had had six months and on the back of the your ver ' gone through relationship issues Wow. Be I had such a great captain at the time I could go to spe I could go and speak I'm like, What are you talking about? I don't over it. But you know, a full b squantal relationship is. You still soft crosses. You know what I mean? That shouldn't stop you closing a winger down. Oh my girlfriend she broke up with me, obviously She got right e side back. happen mean She her right side back. Th some stop crosses. That shouldn't affect J. Oh was such a brutal ending as well Was it g? Yeah. Was it you or was it It was her mainly As Bob Dyam once said, you can't be in love and wise at the same time. Har loss Yeah She could have been in California may a few weekso testing wine United would have played better for six months It's the journey,ir. Yeah exact. It's the journey. Just something that's true. Has anything ever impacted this is by the way, this is just me riffinga. Has anything ever impacted your football hasn't come from. When you lost confidence or you weren't informed, what was it that caused it That's a good question, isn't it? No, it is, know, but I think you think about it R? You ever had times where Yeah yeah, but when I think of sports people, I see a lot of sports people are people in the public e when they've had issues or whatever and they've got to go to walk or play sport A lot of them said the easiest place to be is on the pitch. Yes. Yeah. It was more when I found out if I had stuff going, I would going to be like disciplinary stuff or whatever doing stuff you shouldn't have been doing I still found being on the pitch to kind of Easiest place to be know? J You say that, Roy. Jo something. When I think of some of the situations that lads were going through that we knew about and then they were still playing I used to think, how the fuck are you doing that? I wasn't about relationship issues by. No, no, no. you think about it. here' A lotord have said it, but their safety kind of blanket was out in football pch wasn't it? That's ye, for that little time, but I remember I went for a few obviously stories and papers and that. and then build up the whole week and then you got to play the game and then after the game is, you know, leading into that when you actually get on the pitch, yes, you do have a A moment where you have that ninety minutes where you kind of forget it, but like there is moments in the game. Where you still think about f when I come off what's gonna honestly. I went through that a few times because I had a couple of bad ones. But just in writing, I pride myself on no distractions literally for that few months. I was thinking my relationship breakup broke into my mind during matches and I thought, oh, I'm done here. I never think about anything like that. why do you' on the pictchure for? Yeah I remember playing a Champions League game away like February. I can't remember where we were playing I think it Oh my god, I'm thking about like literally, you know, what's going on in life, you imagine when you break up, it's never It' never simple break after seven years is Is it You like these messy texts and all that crap and it for like and shes texting during the day you're texting her and it's all that crap Oh it just goes into the game and the k No football football actually. J come and speak to me. I'm serious. Just to here arve I've got some issues. Come me have a chat But listen, there's no way to Well at that time? I a pish Roy King. I know. I'm not to name names now because I think it wouldn't be right, but you think sometimes now of like when you're talking about England players that have been left out and people say, lookook, you're weird, donon't wait. in the last few weeks, they're struggling. They've got things going on in their private lives and you think That's why they've been left out and you just think Yeah, but it isnt part of the challenge, I think, when you're playing sport. obviously we can going talk about sport sort of people How to the challenge is Leave that at the door when you go to training has to be's hard room. Of course it's hard. I'm not not sor Beuse that's part of the challenge. You've been sports person, you've got to deal with these challenges or an injury or contract. going You're still in his zone. Yeah Roy, when but you you know there's an example there a few yearso and sometimes a young player. rememember Luke Chadwick. remember Chads. Yes Of. And years later Chad does story where he was really affecting him Yeah when was that program? They were like really criticizing. I interestressed We should have picked up on all that. Yeah. But you don't because you've got a game coming up or you're on the back of a defeat or a win. you end up I in a dress room yourself just get sometimes get yourself to your own b. Yeah Roy, when you've got when a piece goes into paper and it's not a good one. And everybody knows like the players, you go in the t it's fuc it's horrible. Sometimes then you turn into rightly or wrong you turn into a bit of banter under the dress room, don't you? Well sometimes that kind of does help, that does help a little bit. Yeah But even chn't it when you turn out to England and Gaza knows, you know Jo my view, it was, you think about it, imagine you're just like S England fans thousandousands coming over hereir And then United fans are Asenal fans or whver fans they spend hundreds of pounds to come watch their team play weekly. And they're coming in seventy five thousand old Tfford can't take your stuff onto the pitch and lose a football match because they're pay it's like I can't go on the excuse say Oh imagine after the game, I had a relationship breakup boss, Roy. You know I mean? That's why I've not played well today, like fans you know what I mean? They're going to go I never minute. We got a wing we've got a wing. You know what I mean? It's like to be honest, don't I go on, I don't care that I totally accept that they don't care, tot, etera. It doesn't make it easy. they don't, but you can't use it as an excuse. you can't use as an excuse. B a guy cannot win a league or Arsenal can'ot win leave because of someone's relationship breakup. As an example, I mean, I'm using a ridiculous example here or because two or three players have had issues at home You know what? It's like It's like you yeah but the thing when it was at me with me all the stuff then people say, Oh lookkay he's playing. he's not the saying. he's not playing the he's missing chances because he's thinking about that because remember it's all world the papers and's,, it something. And you're just trying to just focus on that. Just trying to be just stay in it but like And the ball's down there and you cause you' focus on the game It's still in your head. But it is it harder for what position you in the pitch? Like a striker. A lot of youruff that would have an instinct. that's the f. You're a full back. You know, Jux, I'm a midfielder W would it affect people in different ways. Was yours more about concentration? Yours is. instinct. Yours is positioning and you're about time o I score a go gu. But yours about sharpness, right. So're if you're off it you're aut there. You can spott aile a. you're missing the child things on his mind. Mine was a consist Yeah concentration To be fair, the boss to be fair was one thing Concentrate I don't think he said one word more than concentration to defend us anyway And I felt like concentration was everything, assessing your position where you are all the time at every point in the game. I'm sure every player does that. but your distances of like am I in there? constantly assessing your position. midfield is a little bit more and forward If you're five yards out opposition or two yards out opposition in the b, no one can say you're out of position As a defender Everyone knows when your two yards are a one yard out opp position. you're a little bit too far out, you're not far enough in or you're too far in and you're not far enough out. or you're too far back and Van Deen played on the Japanese goal yesterday. I know he's two yards out of position as an attacker, it's like should he have been across the nearpes there? Could he have done this as a midfield that's where the sharpness comes into it. if he's not looking sharp, you would spot not the two yards being go also him to take the shot and stuff Yeah, like not taking a touch and shoot. He might take two touch you go. He doesn't look himself. wanton't so that with St strik has gone. He's taking too many touches It's taking too long. Where's the Blys where you're top farm you go Oh, he looks sh, doesn't he? He's not even hesitating again it's instinct. What about off the back of this little chat about Jill last week doing what she did and then then she posts out that she lost her nana on the Tuesday and she carries on You know, something it was Can you imagine because I'm inved to do one of those with Jeff Thomas and it was for cancering and stuff When you're riding, you're riding for that reason And you're thinking about it, you're thinking I've got to keep doing this so I've got to make sure I get this doneum for them battling She's doing an a Nan past, you know It's like Again, hurt Jill's strength Because everybody sees Jill and she's full of life and full of fun. You know what she's like? She loves everything. I just it made me so sad to know that she was on that bike. She was doing that and out. painfully.ce you got off the bike, you see when you go, you can see it was pain I just like I just felt very emotional for her You know what I mean? and what she went through and she's an amazing She is so amazing. you not realize how amazing she is Asolutely. Remember we them le of pants? like that. go they're too long. I'm just I'm not even talking about Where you can see your socks, but you just need a little bit more. Jo your. If I was walking around and like my pants were flying up in the air, they were like this far an inch off my strainers, I'd be like, I try. I'm honestly When we was younger people used to say, You smoke in the flood and that it stepest. But G, they' you had some pants on the other day It's a nice hal Pants are far too long. Eespecially the lining don't know why I wanted to come shopping with you so that you could help me, but you didn't invite me. Well, we've got plenty of time someome really cool shops I want to go to some more vintage shop. That one went I love a shop but I did like that shop where you could just breed and people let you la on. that. seeee? With that vintage shop, they didn't let you bed a day O in your face right from the start they were swearing and like the guy was so rude. I told you when I picked up that p I was just walking around, I picked up the phan and I was say, anyway, hey bbody, that's far too smalloth for you know to put that back And you looked at it, it was like I didn't say anything. and then I told you when was J Pesky in there? was was But then what happened wasiverpool a guy came in with a Liverpool shirt on. Yeah, but he needed Roy to break the ice with him. you couldt break the ice with him. But then all of a sudden, then all of a sudden he's starting to go because a guy wanted to take a picture of me, then another lady came in, her dad's an arshle person before And then all of a sudden all the guys in there, the shop assistant like, Hey, hey, hey, buddy what are you doing? L, What do you do? What are you doing? I was like, And I just left. we just left, but you wouldn't have liked it You wouldn't likek that shop I'll come back. I'm not going back to that shop, No we'll find another one. There'll be better ones than that This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Sky Bt Right. So we've got this is this is the ninet ninety Yeah World Cup team, right. We're going we picked the ninety we picked the start in eleven last week, didn't we for the England team How many of that nineteen ninetyeen and on Ian's jacket get into this current team. I've just made ups andongs. An need a pen? Any need a pen there's no rush on here. No take our time. We'll take our time. Sorry Mate. I can't get to see it myself. Look, I can see it in that camera. I think Silton gets in gold in't? hour. Let's just go. So we got a takeicker time. B big piece paper. We're going to pick the team. goal kee. we' got Peter Schilt or Jordan Pickford Geor Silt's got garfing. Per Jo off Fringland. has' Niny put Yeahable for England? All right generally because It's just who would be in goal? Who would you pick? Peter Silon or Jordan pick forord in goal? You know what D did you play with Childon? Yeah. I played Was he that good like training or? Was he that brilliant?? Was it the back three by the way, though? Did they play back three? I played like when I got in there, he was in there. I first sad he was in there and a couple of squads he was in there, but then it was Chris Woods you know something, Jordan Pickford I give you the board on the goalkeeper because I think I mean Chilton's probably I think he's the highest cap mak of all time. Well that's the things about. twenty five c caps, but Yeah, but Pickford' going gonna to go past that isn't he? Pickford'son How many cats J P? Jon's got eight four cs on years Peter Chilon. I twenty five hundred and twenty five. You go past that. He go past and has gu got injured Pickford. Do you go Pickford? I think he's been in what he's been has he been? Well forget caps for a second. Who is a better goalkeeper? You played with him so you can make this decision. You've seen enough of them. You' Yeah, I haven'ted I haven't haven't played with children pickotord, haven't years but you've seen him but I think last a few bast and trained and you know when you're going throughue again,'s a great keeper Was he a good blow? You get on with him What's picked Semen B than Semen N, seeming better than Silton? il. I go Samen. Seemen would have but I by it' a pasure. Semen would have been Sht not pick for this on you? Go on. Yeah. ord Pickfords and go you get in trouble for that one Let him calm, let him calm, let him calm. Okay lefte back Nico O'Rilly or Stuart Pier. Stu P. Don't even hesitate Stu Pice. Stuart Per. That's only because Nico's not got. Exactly of course. Oh there's time for him obviously. mean I need you just to pull your jacket up because I think I think you play five in the back of that team, that's the only problem Paul Parker right back. So I was going to go was he not wing back then past? Park is such a goodight Paul got right? got three cal. Yeah, I did. T and a half Yeahah. that's the problem we've got here. But we'll have to fudge it. Yeah. Okay, Ride back. You've got Reese James or Paul Parker. Where do you play with peopleall, but if I'm talking about if we're talking about how good the players, I think Reese James a better. Rese James a better football player or football Parks is one unbelievable. I think I go Rese size, is he? Yeah, but James I like Parks well, but Jes. James on his date. Do I have to actually stay like this or can I put my exerc good exercise. true You know what?' the one I'm doing at the moment I'm doing one of this as well in a minute. U Santa Hves. Sa Des Walker's got to be there whver happen. You you have Des. You've got Gay and Conza Or you've got Gaye Cons, or youve got Des Walker and Terry Butcher You you go Des Walk and Terry Butcher, deffin I wouldn't hesitate about out there my arms around. Okay Midfield, Gaza. Gaza and David Platt and you Delan Rice and Anderson. Oh Wha, I'm sorry I'm sorry. Hello. I'm going Gaza, hundred percent. And Gazers in. I' just're not even asking you I'm sorry, but Platty, you can't Platty's one of the best midfield finishers. youicked up cr it'll belatt of Bellingham We'll go for we'll go for that's what he said earlier in midfield with Tby Rice on it It'st be rice. Listen, no matter all, we have it in rice The two of you were gonna to put rice in their wine you love them Yeah You're just a bitset because he didn't choose Ireland still aren't? No he did choose Ireland. He p played Ireland. He ped for Ireland, so he did choose him But the change of mindsaw, Yeah But he did play for him. It doesn't sit well. I don't think it's a bad's a bad I't think'iss the badong game. I don't think it's a b decision for me. I love the Irish. I love the Irish.. Okay, what I'm gonna to do, I'm going to make an artistic license Right. And we imagine it was basically John Barnes and Chris Waddle on the wings And it was David Platt in there and then it was who's up from Gara Ear Kacker. So basically Now no, no, G. We're gonna to go Bellingham or Platt. B You know, something Bellingam Patt.'m gonna go to Bellingham.'m go I think I'm gonna go I play with David Plt as well. I like him a lot. I think Bellingham. Bellingham. I'll make this more interesting actually No. We'll go Peter Bardsleit or Bellingham. No No Peter therell. you By on? Belliam. Belliam. Bellingham, ye. even th we have to give Peter Dude is in. We obviously have to give P Plat had some amazing moments. R, he scored the goal Yeah goes. I mean Yeah no to go course in the World Cup look but the rest of his career, wouldould you look back and go? He scored a lot of goals from midfield goough But did it add to loads of gos of villa Arlo, obviously withenis Bari S. Can you remember that huge moments he had? Are they more with Eland? Belgi? The Belgi was the one That's his moment. Okay Sakca or Waddle. Wadu Whato Thank Chris Warenwle Yeah, I need it.robably And he was on top of the pffers build didn't What was that called Diamond Lights? Are we talking about you know, in respect of that song he sing? Waddles?iondight Diamond Lights. What Any? I love you.dle. We picked Marcus Rashford last week in our team. It could be Anthony Gordon You can have either John. We pickedthony Gordon, we did. Yeah we picked Rashford. We changed our minds. No we changed our minds. And you're entitled to. John Barnes Oh I Rashadillle Garden, John Bannon your ms Yeah when people talk about John Barnes' career for England. arere we talking about just as the player As a player just Joh Barnes John Bnes was the best player In my childhood watching Liverpool, John Barn was like, Yeah Yeah aggreed. And maybe some of theses lasted in a few years' time. Yeah. that' what I'm saying Well, That's why it's bit unfair on that a little bit, but. And then you've got Kaine, all theicrept top. Oh Jesus You done' of silly chats now L Lin is brilliant Canon? I would yeah, but then you're talking about Harry. I would say Kane, but then obviously I say Kan, That's two V one. it doesn't matter what he Strier there.. All right, so has the Ok? No, no, no. Nice to know that. N No when you look at Gary, I think Gary because he came Premer League came after, you kind of like kind of negates everything before but you played for basetball he scored. He scored attrics against Spain against Madrid. he's got golden boots in the World Cupps, Scaralinica. You know, we I know that Harry's done the same I I think And you've valk with him as well. There's nothing to do with that. It's just like come in. so you obviously know, I meanice on personally. another thing is just that I feel that I again him and the same like rush these people amazingoy me and Roy don't understand falls to the same level as you do. So your your vote counts triple. If you go Lake, we go L, if you go fing in the worldu fine and you have a choice mist stride you think if think he gets one chance, he's going to put it away Who would it be or go dinner Wow, wow. You did drink a lot agoight. Wow. One thing there is no doubt about Kane is a better football player than Gar. Darry would say thatself he can drop in Garself. Dry would say that Yeah. but we shouldn't hold that against him. No,, I'm just saying Yeah. I mean Harry is a finisher. I put him. I don't I can't comment as much on Garer even though I watched him But I can say I think Harry's the equivalent of Alan Sere as a finisher I Harry is the equivalent of I want share as a finisher W the way they hit the ball. They hit the ball I mean. Yeah, clean. that could Did you fig in Sineear I would I' a defender point of view. So if you're playing against one, who would you not want to kind of be up against? you wouldn't want to be up against Linica And I think so it is releant as mil. Because you see Harry you go back in there someone else you would not want to be Gar Linka. I'd goryicane. I'd go with that Gar Linka Be called Right? Who's the captain of that team? Youve got So the team is Thereere's the team. It's not bad team, is it? What about the team got Noope. Have we got the team is any be concentrating on the Cantracion This is the team. Jordan Pickfordld in the goal, Reese James Walker Ca. P Butcher be on the other side wouldt gone. Terry Butcher, Des Walker. Rindide Des next. Gaza and Dckan Rit inidfield with Judy front that' a beautiful Chris Waddle and John Barns on the wings. A linaka up top. Butcher' left for. So what we're saying there is effectively, who's the captain of that team? It's Pierce. Doould it pierce? It should probably be Butcher or Percy, man. It should be Perough. think I think Stewart would give it to Terry Butcher. He would do I tell you what that m feels good. We didn't have Gaza in there where Judas, Gaza off fl. Yeah But said just that's what we were dealt with, you know it's like, I It was the holding me field player in that you, by the way Who was the holding me fie play in that bly team No, I'm not wearing this. They clayacing. They just got three at the back and then they play with Gaza and Gaza, Beardsley and Platl. they didn't they speak to Bobby Robson say they wanted to change the They wanted to change the formation. So Captain Probably I go butcher, but you go pers, you goers. I' go, I go pers. Okay And then like you say, Percy, because of a gentleman is, he'd give it to butcher And then butcher say I can't take it off. That's combined twenty twenty six and ninety ninety World Cup teams And there are one to Three four representatives from twenty twenty six, seven from nineteen ninety that reached semif final I think that was probably about right. Yeah. Jo what, I think about the current squad And the difference between. I think when you look people say like the gold generenation team is better than this current team, right I agree On names on players that played Premier League, I agree But you what this squad has There isn't a big drop between the first eleven and the second eleven. I think when we I think I think there were at times like players if they were playing We just do it Yeah. D checked out Yeah, I think I think they got a really You're saying there's not a big drop with this group. No, I think there's I think well, if you look at it, let's say Gordon or Rashford, Sakar or Madleck. If Kane comes out Kane's a problem. That's the one Kane's a problem. you got Jude or Morgan Rogers. Kane and Rice are the two that you can't replace They' are two that are a problem. I think the rest of them, you could take one out, put the another in and I don't think you'd lose a massive amount. Goalkeeper who comes in You, the goalkeeepers, yeah, there is probably a bit of a drop with a goalkeeper. Just of lack of experience, what I mean because picker plays all the game. You like this one, right? on. Before we get started, let's kick things off with a quick question. Can you name in chronological order Every country that has won the World Cup and the first year that they won it. Wow. whereere's the other answers, by the way, on have You can play as well, Gary and then we'll give you the answers. Which me I can play as well,'ve got the answers here. Uruguay ninetineeen thirty Yeah Yeahah. Yes, you're right. Right. Wh won nineteen thirty four Brazil next Bzil have won it you give us Brazil. When wheny Bzil first won sixty two? No fifty eight. fifty eight fifty eight sweet. H we know who'son it., were just trying to names out t. you have to be the year that the first year they won it So there are two countries that were it before Brail. So in between Uruguay and Brazil in thirty and fifty eight, obviously the war was for eight years there wasn't any in that period So who won it in between Uruguay and West Germany fucking? West Germany there's West Germany.re right. Okay, they weret in fifty four And then so you're missing nineteen thirty four That's a tough one for now. I don't think it is. Neen thirty four. It's done. Yeah. It's ch. Italy. So you got Uruguay thirty. Yeah. Italy thirty four West Germany is fifty four, Brazil fifty eight And now we're on to Who's next sixixty two? Yes, who won that? We actually won of only eight teams that have ever won it. Iself It's pretty good. Yeah.sak you know what, I heard someone talking about the World Cup It's not easy to win. Holland would never win. it's mad in it. Yeah Hollyood their team. Can you imagine if Holland won in ' seventy four or seventy eight, what football would have been like the impression what would have happened with football if Christ's Holland would have What's the biggest team never to have won it? Is it Hoand? Yeah? Is are they the are they the team, the football nation he say I there was a time where he was thinking it would have it waspain but like obviously, they've kicked on, but it's got to be H special. or Holland Portugal with all their players. I'd say I'd say Holland because of Chrich is the name that should be amongst those names of greatreat players that win the World Cup because he was great So I'd say Holland. I'd say hard Portgic good dude this time around no the short, I think they're going to be to be How did they handle Ronaldo? How's he handling play him every game or does he has he got an agreement with him where he has to rest? How does that work? that dynamic. R How is it for Martinez? I know It must be a nervous wreck. He came on the show, didnn't he, obviously earlier the year and he was saying that he's a massive asset, which obviously he is How does he use him? How does he Well it doesn't make a difference Dynamics off depends. J just for example, they win the first couple of games. He obviously if he starts them then he rest them if they're already think if they're doing well, right, if he wants to press if he wants to play in that way you bring Ronaldo on for the last twenty minutes. rememember like the Euros when he was injured? And he was on the side. He seemed like he's you know, they won it without him You know he's somebody that with the team they've got and the pleasure They could do it, and then he could come on and finish it off. But is he that person that will be able to Is's not that person? I don't think so. Don't for' be happ now. You know what It' been put this way when you bit even a bit when he was at United. If youre used to be a may man for years then all of a sudden people you're going to be like And to change your mindset I you're a top guy even at what forty years of age Yeah Maybe you never know.as he forty one though only? Yeah. So what we made the tournament so far? What do we think so far? Again, once it's started, you know, I don't think there's a game I'll look at and think What have we like so far What we liked about this tournament so far in terms of the football or what we've seen I like the US You have very good The one thing I look for yeah, that's the word you wr. one thing I look for in any team now and I went to the Morocco, Brazil game. I look for teams with energy. Yeah and at USA team and Parkarch was quite confident when he' done the podgast in, Yeahah I think we're going to make progress. And I think yeah good energy alone That's a good st standing if you need quality, whatever good decision making But I was disappointed with Brazil did' know. Yeah. I sometimes it takes a team, a couple of games to get up and running and we might be same with England when they up play at Croatia Brazil don't look You know what I was saying, Roy? I was Moroccco tore them to Shreds in the first twenty minutes. Yeah, and they're still Brazil. Theys a couple of chances going for. Theys kind of one or two star players, but in midfield and's that mystique if it's gone from them. It's just like when I' I young no mobility in midfield and I mean none whatsoever And Casamilroo instantly you're thinking on Morocco, you' thinking I'm quite happy with that Do you think they've been Europe Do you think they've been because they're all playing in Europe or most of them are playing in Europe ' been an element of they that we have contaminated their flare in that because when that's what I was saying when we was young to Italy.n only saw Brazil when they got to the Wor Cup You know their players and all of a sudden, you get these players like correct L come out of nowhere, these unbelievable ri. You seeen now we've got players from Brazil play for Brentford and play for Newcastle You know, and stuff like I'm not I'm not digging it out. I'm just saying the mystique of what Brazil used to be He's gone So even when I saw that team sheet come out of Brazil, I was thinking M Roc, I quite fancy that team. I know Vinny Jror score his goal because He's amazing, but I'm not afraid of them. They don't they don't have that no more. Well the best players. why I saw their team the bit I thought, oh Gabriell and Marartinos and Alisen in that I thought I chill. and go, yeah, of course. You like the players I would think are world class. No no. Yeah the goalkeeper? No, I think look, I'm not saying he's now but for the last four, five, six years. S the gold the gold Maroc was just one passed through the middle and. He was in no one's life. And then it was the first game this Argentina the last week not writing teams off, but and you know what I was watching the game and They don't look a happy bunch. No happ. Why'd you say that Brazil didn't look happy bunch? Beuse you're at the game, you can see it's just our body language and when people weren't making the right pass, it's an element of and In the group, was Angelot who came in towards the end almost to bring up together in the qualifying, I think they've lost. the six or eight games and qualifying they finished fifth in the campaign to qualify. So clearly there is issues there. Whatever put your technical ability the mobility inid failed I don't know, I was just looking. I just got that feeling that We talk aboutrazil, we always remember years ago, videos of Brazil and other teams I was after cuffuffing. They just looked a bit stiff, a bit l I thought of like the word you use contaminatedave we contaminated, If you think about Brazil, it's flare, It's like sambur. It's just that sort of that relaxed feeling of just like everything being a bit moreer Whereas actually you watch them, they're quite active methodical I looked at them and I thought was it wasas it ninety four where they played with Dunga and with Was it Marrow Silver who played who played with Dunger in midfield in ninetighty four find out you played for Brazilian Uny for him and me feel I thought if you sit Casamiro there with gimarage and you've got two good center backacks and a good goalkeeper. Do you just have that box there that think, okay, youve got Kuna and Thiago and then you got Vinitius O one side ofininei on the other. I've got four there, three Tuna, Rapfinia and Vinicius, with Thiago up to, I thought you know something they could like next couple of games' be favorites obviously you Carlo Roy with it when w when won the Champions League in Madrid and then look he had unbelievable players by the way. They did play like a deep foall soon counter atttacked him big they certainly the potential then to get some momentum into the group and they like they're emotional players. Yeah. But when you brought all these players and Narars back into it on I was just looking again When we're even having drinks spak I just isn't getting out together anything. As if they're proper individuals, particularly the attackking players. evenven when someone wass making a run, they were like, they want't even communicating with you to go, Yeah, got. How was it with him up front Ego Tiaga? Were they playing off something?as they It was a hard battle for him. It was tough. It was a tough evening for him. I think he hadd a good chance for a the header because as poor as Brazil As supp as they were, when did get in the box, you did think It' still a threated, of course. And as the tournament goes on, momentum, confidence and obviously they've got great support behind them But I wasn' sitting and watching them going. Wow, you know, take a lot to stop these. But do you think Morocco can go far? Yeah, I think shouldort have got a againp. Yeah. ennerergy, mobility The only disppointment I thought was the second half, literally started the second half I noticed the first game the group. they both kind of shook hands early ago we both take the draw here because they'll know they'll look it on paper they've got easier games coming up. We both go through. yeah Morocco' decent Yeah Dble decent, defeinitely good movement And it'll definitely cause team' problems of course. In ninety four it was Marrow Silver andung, who I don't think has run So they just sat there with obviously two center backs behind them. And you just makes you think could he just try him? He could end up with something like that. Yeah. was Lin was up front then Exactly was up front out to jail.'alking about Rber Mario. Exactly, of course. You could me and you could stand in Latnetfield. with them two upfont No when I say lack of mobility, I know you can still sit there and have an expericed player in there like I used to play But when I was up at the treid fielders when gamees getting a bit stretch. I think Frs win this tournament just straight me N just. I don't say anything else. I honestly think just what I've seen so far The way the toilenment is shaping up differentere players with their defense and I just honestly I think Franance is I like that Spain can play different way Spain don't need to just everybody it used to be with Spain are yeah, they're just going to try and play off the part now they can play off l and bam go long gal It's a different's a different any team that wins it. It's not about one way of playing in this tournament. Exactly keep it. You got to be good on the counter attack Good option off the bench And do you know, I have a feeling they've not even played yet. Argentina. Yeah. ir squadan a be They'll be the homeg. Yeah. they'll probably look at Argenta import their lam. Yeah. Yeah Argentina would look at it up to this point and think, I'm not really worried about any of you like No there's no st to dbt y, as there. I mean, I think obviously Germany would done to Cissal, but like I like with Germany N not in England yet. Not in Spain Yeah Not in France, Yeah. But what I li likeed is see when you look at Switzerland, when Switzerland played again it was Switzerland against C it was ititar?Quitar, right They should have wiped the floor of them. this is what I'm saying with Germany. Germany in the end. the quality wipe the floor of. Well we made the point. I know we kind of discussed you did. This is a worry when these extra teams get in And it's great, and you've made the point. it's obviously huge for these countries. of course, thenen you cant it you can't l do six seven goals at the national match. Right. doing that game right?atever se Yeah in the end, in the end, they broke them but like leadeading up to that leading up to that when they scored because again, what they showed Germany, especially the defense, you can get at them And they showed Curosal that you know, they've got the quality to be able to break them and get them, but you can't they couldn't sustain it. So from their point of view That's what they got to build on. They've got to build on that's my whole. They're going to get hammered, but then you're going to play against Germany. the professionalism like we say when you see an FA cup games, my professionism. We're going to play if we play our we play should Yeah. And they're going to run out of steam. You know, you're going to play p them da bam. yes, you're going to run away with it. But there's a time up until the hydration break And then but Germany scored before halfime and after halftime. They've done everything what you meant to do to a team l. And then naturally they're going to run away with it. But I thought up to that point they carried themselves well Cusal. It it's unlucky But seven is a lot. It is seven. Yeah Yeah, but then you look at the Yeah, but I remember when when when I was younger, like nineteen seventy four Well, can't remember watching that because I was watching it for Brazil and it wasn't a great Brazil side And I remember at the time it was like Yugoslavia beating someone else nine Nil. but that's what's going to happen. And like Hiti are back. they're back again. They're trying again, but you've got to keep progressing. Of course. still if you're talking about it's not nice, it's not nice now. It's not nice, but like it's a learning curve And it's up to Germany, it's up to a Switzerland it so far as they can see we've got a long way. I don't think no team enjoyys J but learnning and you're in this again big boy stuff and you're losing seven goals. and it could have been ten Germany was still going out of towards the end. I can't be good for a player either a professional player going. We lost ten goals in a match. Wow set obviously seven, but it could have been more That's what's gonna to happen. I know it is, it's not good. It's collateral damage This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Sky Bt Ry you went to the Bil Roca? What what you think of the drinks break Have you seen what Virgil Van Dyke said about it last night after the game? Really strong comments. He said, I think they need to look at it on a game by game basis. It was brought if it was h and it was thirteen degrees Make sure drinks bake, but if not, It's a stealth Advertising break isn't It' scary something abouts We're in America, right So it's like it is, it's like it's a time out Look how long they've wanted it to get ro. They've always wanted in. They've covered it they've covered it by saying hydration.. They've got tactics boards out now, Cach. But but even that, we talk about Why we love Obviously, we people out there have different arguments for different sports. we love Well because it it pays it again It's, you know You want you don't want to go to t, you might miss something. no sports, you go, listen, we can go st but we might miss much. But these brakes Andent just doing is stopping to float the game Yeah. The momentum and teams are losing momentum. sometometimes you're gaining and you kind of do that anywere when when goalkeeepers going down and the problem is the other night The weather was lovely. It was like lovely cool evening and particularly a second hour And the game you think it's a bit of momentum here' you smell something in the air go And sometimes it comes on the back of a player being injured. So you've waited two or three minutes for a player to get treatment. the game kicks off a minute go, Oh, no we' hydration break your line. It stops that Lads of little pettiflds, but this drink breaks. Yeah Before the compes, I was said, you know what, we have to go after the players, they're not robots. I get all that No, you're talking. And I think there was something on the TV the other night where he actually said I think they call it a timeout lasted at a time. It was like the g that was like four quarters I think FIFA are goingough to act quite quickly now. I think look, if it's a drinks break I think there's going to be have to be an element of the coaches have got to stay on the bench. You can't come and basicallyically put tactics boards up. I mean there was one game where I think they actually had a scream where they showed a set piece Well, that's I think Ancelot did Anchlotte. Yeah. Anlot. And there wass a tactics board up. I mean, we'reking about literally two, three minute effectively a minf a mini a half time. We talkk four quarters that as I think I'm surprised that it's not been stamped on pretty quickly because look, I think it is a stealth advertising break because obviously it's not stealth ad putut yourself in the players's shoes, right? If it is a cool evening. under get in your obviously of football, you're getting certain you're getting into rym and' I' have to whatever you have to go and have a drink for two or three life. What a drink St they even stopp in the game or just getting in the swing as I've had a couple of good touches or It's just obviously You can do that all a halftime you are, get me breated, I'll get myself together But this idea, again it's like a quarter It's like a time out in America we're all about basketball Whatever it might be American football. I watch these. I love them sports and that works for them sports Football is I've always wanted want to do that It's frustration I've always wanted to do that because they can't they can't understand how You're waiting forty five minutes before you stop. it's all advertising revenue. That's what they' saying. But the other night on top of all that, what annys me the other night onn top of that there's obviously load of foul. that seems to be star st on top of all this stuff. So you're getting frustrated. But then I saw the referee at the end going So so there was again a goalkeeper down for it and he's like, watch. I've done work. And I go, stop about stopping the watch. you're stopping the floor the game Yeah. We know you l it on at the end. Yeah. But that's even that stop start. It's actually really frustrating Particularly when the conditions are I think fine for the place. Well think some game I think what was the game the other day where it was absolutely boiling. There was a game where it was boiling and you think I fair enough. Yeah. Even just to stop get in the shade and just have a drink fair enough, but I think some of the stops are just ridiculous. Well you two done the Holland, the Netherlands Japan game, people talking about Japan, dark horses I been sry I saw some highlights. What was Japan I was disappointed, right? She something having watched them against England in March. and saw them really counter attack quickly and sprout. Do you know what they kept doing against England? They got into the shape and they were compact, so compact They sprung out to try and sort of win it back. Yeah. They just went literally just done horizontally across the pitch and the Dutch to be fair controlled the game didn't it? I mean the Dutch must be absolutely this morning. kin themselves It look like what I saw it. It's moving around it. There's a lot movement. you know what it is know But you know what we have to remember is ye, it's the first game for even Japan. we think they're fit, they're disciplined Maybe checked them again game was interesting and before the game before he even saw them, obviously he's worked over there for what? Yes, in the Jay League He said just the mentality, the belief. He said, that's what lets them down And he said that he talked about this hundred year plan Apparently they stick to this hundred year plan to win the World Cup, and they're only thirty three or thirty four years through it or something or thirty five years through it. So they're only a third of the way through it. And he said they just stick to a plan, the methodical. they've got no belief. and I thought When I watched them against England, it looks fz of belief. Yeah. And then you watched them yesterday. I mean, you're right, it's the first game, but they did look like they lacked that bit of belief. the w they curled up in the ball. You say that? they came back into the game Yeah they did. The mindset it was the Dutch who lacked belief. The Dutch were two one up in control of it. They were the ones who lacked belief They went into a back five instead of saying We're the Dutch. We're on top we're controlling the in possession and out of possession. there was no danger A team full of joints to give up a goal from a carner, from a header Wow we We're gonna to car and talk about football for a little bit. We talk about Scotland. Plenty of the Dutch be annoyed. The Dutch will be so should be Y should be. But I still like what I saw with the Dutch Even though it is thisppoint to dw you thinking, you know how nice You know, I thought about the Dutch, I've been there in England team hotel the morning after a first game draw Where the world feels like it's collapsing, you know, the ppers have just come on you a little bit. you've been in a good position and you're Yeah it can't be. it's like you just you feel like, o, you feel sick after game I'm nervous. And you feel like you feel like, I mean, obviously Argentina lost in the last tournament that went on the wute. You feel like you're chasing things But this I'm saying even But you not I think not with the turt would you have some' going tr nerv. I think that edge and that panic is gone over. You know what's really for me as an England as an England supporter I want our game to get I want to see our game now I'm nervous now. This has been a long weird for Eland.ucking long man. It's like ten days before they played. Yes Christ Yeah that is long. the only I do think it is a benefit not to be wait until the end just to watch the other teams and even look at the time out or the time out, the breaks and go You can sch things out a little bit when you're watching games. What about Scotland? I'm delighted for him of course you delight from him Be like everybody's talking about the the way the games have fallen for them and it's brilliant for them for them to beat them because they had to beat them. And again, it wasn't easy You know, it wasn't easy, Scotland in the end, you know, they kind of like they put I think they put they put another defensive midfielder on and they kind of like justust took the took the blows a bit instead of Gy them finishing off, which is fine because people talking about how Scotland might need to score more goals because of the third place in But the main thing is is that they won They beat them You know I mean's the harder for teams like Scotland. we play for when you' games where you're almost expected to win. They're the biggest challenges for Scotland and The buildup to Scotland for the last few months must win game. You have to win it And they won the game? Yeah. wasasn't pretty I think Scotland, and again mentioned I watched Morocco and Brazil I think Scotland get a result. I think this idea have gone against two R. Brazil. Definite against two of them. When I say results, they could get a result against them too. I don't think Scotland should be in the mind to gone We've got our three points now could we get through a three point? No, no, no, I think you can get results against Morocco in Brazil. I Really do. I do. Even if it's a draw Oviously, one draw would get in true But this don't be frightened at these you know what, R? Telling Yeahah, they' good. Of course, they're good, but they've got the hardest pressure, I think in Scotland was this first game. Yeah D thatid. again, not pretty pressures off him a little bit because the three points in might be enough, but still believe you can go and get. I think you got you got whenn't someone like Vinnie Junior, you're always going to have a problem Scotland, but I rightady there's no way that Scotland should be going into the Brazil game. Farful. Far justust mentioned aurder abolutely lost there. I think they can't play the jersey, play the players you on front'll they at least get a point off of Brazil, I think I think Morocs off one No I think Well that' be So Scotland you about trying to teams to win it, but Scotland's Wor Cup would be they obviously their biggest challenge is getting r of the group. Yeah. I think they're more than capable of doing it. They've got that Whatever they've done over the last couple of years are the manag doing a great job. And again, we can sit and criticize Scotland in terms of watching them out a good onDI, maybe not always They've got a bit of fight. They know what to grind out results. A Ganond Doo could Yeah you know the players that can kind of make an impact. No, if you're in that camp with Scotland, don't be bogged down by will three points be enough? No S no, no, we can getumed. donon't think we have to hang in here, We can have a big impact. I'll take that now for England I'll tell you that I'll tell free that three points now try and play againstracia. Oh? Aute you would Of course you would have just take it. Take a draw. wouldould you take a draw now before the game against Croatia Yeah. Yeah, I probably would. Depends on how the draws come about th. drawon a draw won't be received well So sure this depends on we wouldn't be jumping up and down on the draw. It' the nature of the draw will be important. How you play. But a draw won't be received well by the fans. So before England play now, would you would you be quite content if England qualify secondting a third? Are you thinking No we need board now. has to be I think the expectation this group have set over the last four or five tournam is they have to win the group You think thatd have to win the group Ian S Jo Ian. I think to go is just to get out of lost our rank in the world now what are we in the world? Fth in the world. We I'm not saying Croatia, by the way, a fantastic team of beaters over the last seven or eight, nine years in big games And you can't disrespect grace. That would be a massive error However, England will get criticized if they don't win the group. That's the least of their worri is Gal. Do you think it's okay to finish second in the group? Yes. Oh I do as well. in some ways, but you de' get criticized if they finish second because it will have meant they'll for that. It meant they'll either have lost or they' have drawn matches that they should have. And that's what happens in in the World Cup, you have to you have to build resilience and has to come from somewhere. no one gets in the worldu lookook at Argentina won it last time They lost against Saudi Arabia and got themselves together a bam kicked on That's what you There's a different edge to that already. would like there's more teams so I you can You can finish third andce even qualify of course or is You've room for more error. I just feel that I don't think your world No, I don't think so now on Garyush honest J Forences case. Do you know what I think about on Wednesday for England There quite bit of experience in the squad And yet the back four Nicole Reeilly. Gay Konza Rese Reese I playing in their first World Cup matches, right? I on the most nervous I've ever been in my life was my first World Cup match. It's the World Cup. It is absolutely ginorm. It's like a different level of thinking than you' just play in for country. and I played in Eururos, by the way. So I played in e Eur United Six So I played in the big tournament before, but you go to a World Cup as a back four that've never played in it, right I'm just looking at that game on Wednesday. I think it's so important that backfall start with a good performance. And I've said before about Anderson and Rice protecting that backfall, making sure they really, you know, don't expose them. There's just something about how we start can't afford a nervy start for that back four, but they've got to get off the grid. They're a back four are talented one on one, you put them up against most. I think they could defend one on one against most. but as a unit, That to me is where all my eyes are on Wednesday. G get that back four settled. Can they get a clean sheet? Can they set off really sort of even Nil Nill's not a bad draw for the back four, but it's a two two And we've made mistakes at the back I would say how we draw No no All right our forwards to be fair, you're hoping that to be fair within the toneent. we've got eight or nine players there that'll do something. But for the back for if you can see two and draw two two and the forwards of score two but the back for have made two errors That would be a problem. So I think it's how we draw if we do draw and I hope we win. I think we' win on Wednesday. But that's my point. I think it's an important game for that backfall to start. well Werew We played a game against in two thousand two thousand writing against Portugal in the first game. we were tuning up after twenty minutes And then we basically got they got back to two, two by half time And I was playing right back in Tony Adams experience. this by the way, this is our third tournament together. So I experienceced by even though it was only twenty five. I think M been Soal Campbell Martin Keone, and not know who's left back It might have been my brother or an brother. O it might have been Gndless so I'm not sure. Ill tell you what, we can see then two goals in is portual and with confidence I'm telliling you can see two goals. So just how we play on wh it is in person? sry Foror for Conzer for Gaye for O'Reilly for James That is a really important match is establishing a footing in the tournament for them I think Yeah, but because you good question. Yeah a path. Yeah, yeah, I agree with you later on the Tour But you will there will have setback. You know what I mean Yeah, but not this early, you know what I mean? J almost like Yeah, I know what you mean. but there's also dealing with that setbacks like you were saying you all would a bit. You don't You have to also go this and a happen. Well what you don't want in the first game is off the back of that first game the headlines to be England's defense looks shaky. Right. They're going Yeah, but whatever happens E they're going to find some headline No no, I think not if they're going to find some headline if we draw Neil Nil right it, it'll be England draw a blank. It'll be the forwards, Harrry Kay misses or Rashford misses or Gordon misses or or Saker misses. That's a better headline for the team on Friday morning or Thursday morning. It's better England draw a blank England's defense is shakaking. You don't want that headline for them four. The front lads I think will handle it and recover. I'm not sure the back four. come out of it that comfortably We've already had our first ITV seven football winner and you could be next. Regular stick to football viewer, Chris from Glasgow landed twenty five thousand pounds in the opening round of the tournament, getting all six questions right and even nailing the tie brereaker. I have that on stick to footballs, I'll tell that and I've done it. I can't even believe I just stand. I've never done it before. That was my first ever team doing it Now it's England's turn and there's fifty thousand Jackpot up for grabs as they take on Croatia in their tournament opener It's free to play and you can enter your predictions right now on the ITV seven Apple website. Good luck, eighteen plus TNCs apppplied ITV seven, England play this week againsts Croatia. What do we think the score is going to be? We need first goals scorer and we need The score. Butbody's going to jump in with Kain, Andre, you think again for Kain for a score? Tonight I think I'm going to go one one Well, I'm gonna go one home Now I'm going to go to one England. Yeah. I was thinking one one all day And I'm thinking Gordon's going to score first putut in there that one, that one and then took that Roy scoring T Wh going for T one? I was gonna I was gonna go I'm gonna to go penalty I'm gonna to go Bellingham Sore first. I Caine penalty and one one We're here joined by Karen and he's going to challenge us with a quiz. On the board, there are seven answers that we have to guess And Kirin will reveal the correct answers, but there's a catch As a team of Roy and I, we only have three lives. If we lose all three lives, we lose. Oh gosh from the end of six to football. if we've won more than we've lost seeven thousand pounds will be donated to a charity of your choice. Jiltyilty after five hundred thirty grand. he said he'd double it as. However, if you lose a forfeit will be revealed and viewers get your ideas in. Right? What's the question? The question is most England appearances at a World Cup Right. Are we we all a team here Yeah. So I'm trying to think who's played a of Wor Cup, Garalinnker played a lot of Wor Cup but that's just a whole fire Soaul Campbell. He played in ninety eight two thousand two and two thousand six. I'm definitely thinking sallt So how many do we have to name sorry. seeven Seven Right. Okay. We have to get that. I think I'm pretty confident Sl Campbell is on there. So can we can we go with Soul first as I thing get we got three we can getree lies okay. So I think I'm confident with Soul. Let's look here and what ase is he given anything? I'm confident with sl. I'm pretty confident with Sselfl. Soon't want confid he playing? did you say? I think he played in three. You think or he did I think he's played in three. I think Soul's definitely up there. Sure,'', let's just you yes, will you say yester wasce we give answer? Why't you give answer?' go over that we. Okay.' no Soul Campbell. E You eche now killed her I must smashed the fucking place. O Soul Campbell on. down us. You know something? Your soul went on the soul. You just died on the soul hill without even letting us sit down for two minutes. N, how many worldcups did you playing I missed the World Cup though in two thousand two. I ask you, how many did you play in? two So we' gott to be careful of that. we' got to be careful that. Lad justining of I think c.'m thking. I think Beckx is w one because I think Beck's playing ninety eight played. If you get this next one Rong. He played three ninety eight Becks, right? He played in two thousand two ins out of Japan and South Korea. I'm thinking played and he played in two thousand six I'm thinking Sooting or something Pickford, maybe, Pickford. Pickford play semif final and the quarterfal So Pickf could have played what Pickf could played nine, eight or nine O did just stor. are we on number two now then because we missed out on I think lost one life. you can go go on' different. I want Bes. I think Bex is on I want to go I I've lost my confidence. I want to go shoot him. I've lost my confidence. Can I go shoot? Yeah, ye you go shooting. Yeah. Yeah. That's number one I said it as well stop just discussing.' got one hundred twenty five caps. J just quickly, so just Army games were in ninet nineteen sixty six because they got to a final. So like Bobby Charlot has probably playaid six in there and then he's probably playaid in seventy. Bobby Moore as well probably. No there wasn't many games in the Yeah, but but in seventy as well, they got to like the whatever what did they get to be in seventy Centy we've got to the six sixty six and sixty two, sixty six seventy. So Bobby are playing in sixty two. No, do you think that sixty two? No think that' sixty two, e Let's not let's not go too far. There'll be some from sixty six. I think do you think? Somet? Yeah, Yeahah yeah. Karen good as Well, I'm not sure, man. I also we called solder. Iouse sal Campbll. his w Wh youll Campbell wrong then, Beth How many did he get? How many did he? It's all g How many soul get in a World Cup? But never, look at this with, like So Shilon's number one and he's only got seven. I say only seventeen it's a lot. lot well is a lot, of course, I get it But the eighty six ninety It Is eighty six and ninety they got obviously to a quarterfal and they got to a semifinal. one and shoting eight two. eighty two shoting. Ashley Corn must be and must be been's got has he got over a hundred caps? Yeah, one hundred six. So just t quickly of I still call must be. I only played I think in two thousand six. So were still on the same first they need to keep giving me hxes until you get wrong three times So there's six motor to reveal. Yeah, we can get number seven, next, if you're on me, doesn't? Oh Yeah,ah it doesn't in order. You're right, L Beckx must be been there. I would have thought so, but youre something, I'm sure you' got more than nine Ebust stuff because you one, two Well, Ashley Cole must be named We must we've got to get Ashley Cole's name involved. I. Be three Yeahah, Bex is in there Bex' in there. I bet it was one I was thinking in there. I think Beck's about twelve. eleven or twelve. C we Yeah Beck. look like an inber. Abe Beckca. Beck's number six. Well done? thirty. thirirteen, Lad or twelve, I thought, yeah. not far. S you. You're getting back to I tell you what These numbers are higher than I thought by the way So David Beckham You are your lampard Gerard is going to come into this a little bit, I think. mayaybe Ashley Cole, you're right How about Rooney? P tat young two thousand six. Yes twenty ten. Yes, twenty fourteen. Yes. Yeah, Ry R You know what lad, you're fucking? They go out the groups because you know what? I just said the name. My ear is foooked Yeah be R about getting to the latter stage of the tournament. obviously they did in ninety eighty sixty got to the quarters against Argentina Right. eighty two. Do that England it was when Brian sc Brian sc Brian school against dance. So butcher could defitely butcher butcher could definitely be Im telling you Terry Butcher could definitely be there. But again has he got has he got like I'm going big on Terry Butcher? Oh God, Gary, you did fuckingis big on two people. There's fuck. I know not. Right's go let's go through more More teams No, no, you're talking eighty to eighty six ninety. You've got twenty six, ten, fourteen And then you've got eighteen twenty two. Yeah but how long did they wentin in the tournament and who would have been like obviously playing all the games You're eight Well hang out over here. Jordan Henderson fourourteen, eighteen, twenty two. I'm not saying that I'm not that he's been to three use's there for rem me a chance, obviously Rem me a chance? Amy's Ary Kan Harry played in all of Harry didn't playing fourteen didn't come with us to beat he was there in eighteen to the semifinal And he's there in that you're not ginging to Parisiving usx Howouse sense they New York in Russia How many games play in Russia? How many games theying will play in Russ About three, four, five, six And then I'm going to play in France in Qatar They picked a quarter final, so three So She's played eleven Harry I think. I think we go. Drink eleven, drink Harris here He'd have to be here. I can tell this is twelve. Oh, it's not hurry It's not hry . Let's have he's twelve Give us just give us he's not a s.'ll give us anything. Okay. don'll give us anything This this seems this feels like it's a lot harder than it should be Gal and you should be giving me more You're not giving not. I've giving you absolute not outb. I can't believe I'm wrong with the ones I've said Well Campll, can. We're not going. I don't think we're going. B by the way, I just gonna to say something What about someone like Kevin Kegan? But can I just say something, by the way? We've got one right and that's the only one that I've given you so b, but you've gi us nothing. So take up here shill a moment. I did a message. I think it's so Sooul Cambell Yeah them so. Where was I with Butcher? Because Butcher was around eighty two, eighty six and ninety. What about Gaza G' only eight eighty ninety Gaz wasn' in eighty two. it was ninety Gaz was ninety eight Was it night for four we together? wast of course, we went Mich cloenza Can we you didn't Is unfair to say, we're not going back to the sixties. O seventy eight. Oh no., what a bad team there. Yeah we were terrible, but like we should have. We're great players. E She didn't have a great place we I think Frank might be. There's definitely player in there. we'd be like scrank ahead. two ten, Frank two thousand. I think there's one back, Further back Frank could was Frank around in two thousand two because I didn't go to that tournament. I was injured, but was Frank there was that bit before Frank M Frank in two thousand two. But they're al always happened to him with these tight pants. but like it just feels like at age kind of we should be wearing that kind of pant I like tight pants, like guys wear tight pants. And space bomb is tight in the pants That's any mo. tight pants whichich is the best city Manchter, London, Cork or New York. It's all different. Well, bit silly that. I wouldn't swap Manchester me for the people and the people just, I think are exceptional. when you fair not into court that may happen, but I'm sure you say the same thing about your home hometown Row, wouldn't I wouldn't say about that. I don't know I would say London. Yeah. I know, I wouldn't put London in that sort. I prefer honestly, you got L, you get more love, you get more kind of love in London, everybody's like there's a different energy there It's all different different. Yeah. differentiffnt culture, isn't it? Yeah. But it's nice here. I know we've only been herein a week and that. It's just feels nice., if you lived here, it might be different, isn't it? Isn't something that you stay in a place you think it's global. massive melting pot. like even when we're just in theastic, everybody's there Every Con Ced. The best football shirt at this World Cup and the throw out there. A said the you ask k it I saw over night. I justose that Scotland came I mean was a bit controversial. Yeah. But the Scotland awake Awake it. Yeah. The Scotland awake it eh? Do doesn't cut. retro bit. What were we looking at t day if I'm going to get one for? we went. We went into a retro kit for the Argentina messic kit. Argentina is nice. Argentina. It's a nice top. I'm gonna go US you. I think US kick looked brilli Yeah not b a bit. quite good here. An es? I like I like Mexico as well. I like Mexico's a. Iike Japan's a way one. J way yeah. I think it might be that one. It might be Japan's, yeah. Argentina's nice to tell you Where is go go Are we struggling with our community questions at the min? We' got twenty one. We've got sixteen, G for sixteen. twenty one second school. Which? Which count fs been have looked the best so far, been the best so far. Scotland. Scotland. The Brazil fans are good. There. The Ecuador fans, by the way, last night across the bridge. You know as well to Cusa as well, Cusaw were nice. There's not many of them, but like they make some noise. but I think Scotland have taken taking it with the fans, man. they just like bam with the bag Do you see them do ever there bag pipes? fited with bagpipes as well. Well, get that another two weeks Yeah, but at the moment it looks someone It looks like they' It's amazing. It's just bagpipe. It looks like they're invading, I saw another thinging them the bagpipes in front and a just sea of people. It just looks really cool. Have you ever seen Scottish fan with a glass of wine I was thinking of you a day, with all the BTs of all the Scotland fans everywhere. They've all got a pie haven't they?ike you' ever seen a Scotland fan with a glass of wine and said it to Duncan I don't go at no unless it's a pint mine You do miss the Irish and Italian fans here. I think they're a lotost. Yeah. massive Yeah something partarticularly New York Yeah What's been the best part of New York so far and what's been the worst traffic'sad in it over into that game d now. Oh wow. Okay, Oh to Fairrooy, do you see people getting out of that game, Brazil Morocco? They I think about to like two in the morning? one of them was yeah, getting back was tough Wh that stadium. That's where we play thirty two years ago. How time flies. That's the stadium we played at Yeah, that's probably the only thing is like when the traffic J say the word. And when you're traffic and then cause it's hot out there, but if you're in the car for a while because you're waiting around the track, then you get a freezing. Yeah. And if you turn that off, it gets too close in there. So you I'm in that place. I think it's the traffic. J I think the worst is I need to position this right The service is very good, but the services I just can't get my head around it I'll give you an example I was sat in the bar night waiting for you to come down. in the reception, but you know those chairs, wait for you to come down as well. And I just asked to order a bottle of water. And she went that lady out sit on the corner of that desk. I just Kv can you give me a card Do just like hear me c No What you mean your credit card? Yeah. I said, no. She said, Why not? Like that type of conversation, I said, because I'm gonna put it on my room. I'm staying here in the hotel. Yeah, but we need something to. I said, No I said not even got a bottle. I said, cancel the bottle of water. Oh was that the lady who came and saw you Oh got to. I said cancel the bottle water. I said, seriously, this should not be that difficult. You know what I mean? You literally think I'm going run off and not pay or you think it's just that distrust then They just throw the thing in front of you. And it's like ten percent, the twenty percent, the twenty two anal That's the's been And it's aggressive. It's like and I's just like, I can't I know they do it and it's cultural. so we have to accept we're in a different country, but I've never been able to get my head around it. idea the idea that you're asking for a tip or the card before you've even been served Do let me s? I can't get my head around that Yeah That's the bit I just don't I just will never get used to that funny because even it was awkward the other day because When you get here you have to try make sure you get some cash on you because then you know, I had some bags to bring up and I couldn't really do it on my own. I needed the guy, but I didn't have He didn't have the dollars on me. So you know, so when he came up and then he came up and brought them and I didn't have I gave it to him later once I got the cash, but it's the way he was waiting around like. Oh God, I felt like I had said to him I'm just gonna leave these and you here are you going to be staying here? And he said yeah, I said I'm going to get some cash in that, but it's the way he wasah hanging around me like Yeah I was like, o God, the I find the tipping very makes me anxious. I don't know. I agree. makes me anxious. It's like and you justusting sometimes you press fifteen or you press twenty, is that enough? Are they happy
