W So that like running obviously On the bike, You know, when you stand up on the bike it was right in the of money that l Yeah that's h. I tore it. You carry on. Yeah. I had h bike in it But if you sleep if you could do it wrong and Yeah, yeah, there is a bike in you can get in there. But by the time I did it, so the first day after the first two days, I'd done two hundred and twenty miles on the bike. I think it was like a new thing and then had to run the thirty eight miles the day after. But what happened was I was running, if you ever had your hamstring, so you run like on the front of your foot so my toe Oh got's all infect' horrible, horrible. And I've got like because I was sat on the bike seat for so long No comments but I'm still numb in places like three weeks later Didt you one of those soft seats, Je, I was jilled seats. Did't you get Yeah still l when you when you're al so many miles. What was the hardest bit Jill was to get through. Well, the thirty eight miles I got I had twelve miles left and I stopped at like this pit stop. so you' finished Yeah, Is that like you finished like a marathon And Jess Enis walks out and she's like, I'm running with you now. And I was like, all I was so happy she was there. but that is one person you don't want to be greeted by when you're absolutely knackered to do How long did you have to run for another what? twelve miles and then I think it was the bike again, one hundred, which was through the Yorkshire Dales, which was quite an incline. and then finish with a marathon. But you know what? You know see you see a lot of bad stuff in the news and I know there is bad things going on in the world, but everyone was so lovely that I'm going through these villages and old women are given us like satsumers, all the schools admid post thereerss like I was actually enjoying it in a wiged way It's called like type two fun when You're in PM, but you've enjoyes He doesn't know about Roy doesn't we don't know about type too f This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Sky Bet. Before we kick off the show I want to say a huge thank you to our partners, Sky Bet, who've helped bring you Stick to foootball throughout this tournament. Make sure you've liked and subscribed, you do not want to miss what's coming next. Of course you look at him, he's not gonna be's ment as well as physicallyoy but it is something because I think that this guy needs a rest break. I think Delland's not a million miles away from the same thing. Absolutely no chance to send and beat now Grgina to be in the semis. I just can't see it. That is a worry going into a knockout. You could got have it worked out by a user It's a big worry. Who's the next culture of Scotland? He's just thrown it right a deep endnder because need D't you can do it They can for me if they. Who is next? If we get to Brazil, I think we can beat Brazil and then I think we'll probably have problems after that. I always hear like he's got a Vumppton.. No I do, but I thought. He was talking about me again. Now that would be he is a Vumpton We've got a Pack Sow, we' got England, and then we've got Duncan Fergon coming in. Dunk's coming in good. We' got to talk about Scotland. I like Duncan. I've just seen them in their reception. So England, where are we? We've come out of a group, We're top of the group and I feel like at the moment everyone's in that position Are we good? Are we bad? Are we in a good place? Are we always in place We're always a little bit like that, aren't we And which just feels like we don't want to commit to I'm not sure this is right and I'm not sure that is right. So let's do glass half full and glass half empty. The glass half full, what are the positives out of the group? probablybably Jude and Harrys out little dudes Harry scoring and the top the group And the top the group. But like I can't remember too many tournaments where England play where you're not feeling like or on the edge That's Yeah, I feel like that's that's normal, but it is What I would say right, there's a lot of people that are not to be like H wingers at the moment and the way that we depend on the wing is doing well they're not playing well enough and that needs to happen quickly. You' would have thought att least one of them would be like right he's playing for definite. but like there's none of them in the moment. in the positive now though in terms of Dude, think about Dude particularly. I know Harry scores, but Harry does score. We take it for granted these scores. But you think about Dude, L before the tournement. I mean, I go back six, seven, eight months when we were doing that show and there was sort of a massive remember? There's a massive issue with Dude Broom with Thomas Tull with the media. It was a massive story. I mean, it seems ridiculous, doesn't it the sort of suggestion. Yeah but he's embarrassed them now is embarrassed is embarassed especi All those journists that were coming is embarrassed because we were talking about the fact that what he brings to that team and his confidence and How he lift the team up and he will be that guy when you need him to step up and he's done that. I just think some lads are just confirming what we knew we knew.' it's the discourse that they were trying to how many build around in America? How many times has that happened with England players over the last twenty thirty years They will maybe go after somebody for different reasons Dude was a bit's too cocky, he's a bit full of himself. There was it an element to that kind of criticism, but Wellne I really top players that just just turn up. Yeah. Right I struck me in the first half watching a game with you yesterday was that you kept saying in the first time when England weren't playing very well to be fair, you kept saying that Juw Bellingam the m tackles he was putting in and you were impressed with him in I was. Yeah, because I think sometimes you can lead in different ways So we automatically talk of course he done the business in the second half with his quality player in possession as we know, the important part of football is what you do older possession And I think he just kept that momentum and I think that will lift players. and even the manager, I guarantee a manager half time would be like Nimcorn, Bumingoy your' talent to player I But bet you would have been loving seeing that side to it. and we've seen a few pips in the other games that as well, but particularly yesterday, there was two or three times where he hunted somebody down and got the ball at you Wow. You look like your qualities dear. that that will come out in the second half. But to show that bit, yeah, you look like he's jooyed being more in. I think so' R, take a responsibility, I think. kindind of gring with it where you go There was doubt a few months ago about your obvy ood or whatever might be in the camp and all of a suden you turn up and you go, Yeah, turn. Well Thomask created bit of that himself, didn't I wonder by the words he used about you to be fair. I mean was it was't just a sort of noe smoke without fire. There was some sm But I think the managers also maners managers can fire you up in different ways. And I think that fired them what obviously would do And we left him out while he left the by and what happens to managers to players. Even the great players we're talking about were people were talking about Ronaldo last week. All of a sudden people criticizing these lies just just respond. But he looks a real deal, Jude Yeah fld. I think at the national level, you need somebody. The one thing that I was worrying about was if Anderson was playing that wle on his own with obviously Morgan Roggers and Bellingham a bit higher, but I think he was doing kind of both jobs. And what I liked about Jude was his one's kind of in behind as well just stretching them. Yeah, we mentioned that. And I think I think that role rebelling yesterday with Anderson because sometimes when Anderson or Rice are in there They're getting They' having it passed between them. R Anders, yes, he was getting his head up and obviously belling him' sticaking I'm getting a far Oh yeah. So we saw for the first gun beat the midfielder if she sees a bit of space where they can link up but there's no one to link up we going into space Yeah. And I think Anderson was enjoying that a little bit more out going because him and wife sometimes take four, five, too many touches and it slows the game down. but sometimes if you have one on it particly against a poor team like Panamagotn I just I see that space. When I think of Jw Bellingham before this tournament and I think of him I think of him predominantly as A number ten arriving in the box If I look at him yesterday, if you think about a young Roy Keny who used to obviously compete in midfield They would do the defensive w, but they would also run forward constantly and make runs in behind and then they'd have that little bit of quality in the final third. and you think of that sort of he actually yes they like a complete midfield player. Yeah. He looks a very that's He looked like he went up a different level yesterday. almost like a bit like I didn't expect that but expected the second half bit the cross, maybe the finish, which was unbelievable by some I'm saying Yeah, we know he's got that quality, but he's just yeah again again guy, he's mature and he's getting a bit older He's taken responsibility and that role we mentioned before the game yesterday is deeper be slightly easier for him because you see the space He's not afraid to running. It's not of these lazy pers all has to be my feet. He's gone Al Okay at the first go prime example plenty of space and a lot of players see the space Do hear it or they don't see it or they see it and they don't want to do it? He's goingone, Yeah just put it in there And he done a few times in the first time. he's the one he won the corner for the goal off course for the corner, but I think that he's like I said, I' sorry for the second one I'm sorry about when you the running your cour. againain for the He was the only one that would make that run. He's made he's made things happen He made things happen for us to get the corner and then he scores a corner and he creates the goal for Harry I have thought that The way led like Royce in the whole game He was leading by example And I think that he wants to play in that roleway when he's playing at the ten He's waiting for the ball to come to him. That's That's not I don't think that's what he wants. I think he wants to be that guysy tackling back last stitch tackles winning the ball because you you think good after that right. I think he's one of those I think I make you think better So he keeps he just keeps progressing in the game. I think they've got to see that now. He's been England's best player by an absolute street in the group in the group games. I mean, not I think T to be fair, the questionions that you mentioned about obviously People said about him off the pitch or on the pitch, all that nonsense. I've never heard anything bad about him actually specifically, but you know, you just st the rums. He's actually turned up after every single game done the interviews I' know I Bino. remember you neverree on the bs. And there was that element of Oh we won't do interviews He has to do interviews because to be fair, when you're leading a team like he is and you're the one that basically everybody's looking at You have to carry the team. Youbody's been older on Gary. I think it's hard when the players a bit younger to go It's a somet tas for players to front up to the media. It's easier for you're winning games. But he's got a I think that's part of his role now and that goes back to the tackling back Obviously getting Doubt about Willie Statin, which all seems a bit silly though. And I think he's getting a bit older He's grown butad he's had another year at Madrid It looks like he's embracing on that. you know, is it not like he's like they're not shoving him out? he's gone no, Step up to the plate. I think him and Harry Kane, when I watched him in the previous tournament I felt like they were almost fighting to be kind of that mean guy at times. whereereas now I think they've realized If the work together, they can both do like little bits where if one's gone off or they've gone over and they've picked them up, I feel like maybe they're to give it a. Yeah yeah, I feel like they've done a bit of work on that. And this way you give the manager credit because the managers constantly said, I have to get the players to reize It's all about the bigger picture. And certain players go through certain stages, particularly the players you've mentioned there where players can look after themselves. A attacking players can be selfish. And I would knock conf for it. You have to be selfish. So the manager maybe thought I'll fire him up in a different way by leaving them out to start looking it maybe is not, the peny' dpping going It is the bigger picture. They're speaking nicely about each other in interviews as well where like due toes they harry is the best, I think in sort of So there's a better of love being shown and I think off camera. Yeah. I think as well. Two clean cheats have been good as well. I know obviously people have said we've been a bit open and we've give up chances, but you would have took two clean cheats in the last two games as well. Yeah Panama or port Panama. So I think it's just good to see that Dude like because he's young, he's still young. wasas he still twenty two? I think Because of how he is and he's always been like that, that confidence, I think he's growing into it now, peopleople are saying, oh, that's the confidence you have when you're a great player. When you're younger, people say, Oh, he's flash when you're growing into it, people say, oh, that's why he's like that. Be perception of him has changed. I think so. I think people accepting, oh he's that guy, he could be that guy This episode of Stick to Football is brought to you by Skybet If you've felt stuck trying to lose weight, you're not alone. Hello, I'm Max Rususton, the Worldup is back and footbot Weekly is going da. If you want award winning soccer coverage from a podcast that's been over analyzing the game for more than twenty years and still hasn't run out of opinions or just repeats the same ones over and over again, this is where you'll find it. We'll be producing thirty three daily episodes across the tournament, breaking down all the action, the results, and of course the drama. Can the US make it out of the group stage and into the spotlight on the biggest stage? World Cup daily, listen, wherever you get your podcasts or watch full episodes on YouTube If you said that You've got two players that look like they've hit form and they're doing well. How do we now construct or how does Thomas Sukeal construct A group of eight players and a goalkeeper that can feed that machine up top, which is Bellingham and Cane will deliver. We know they'll deliver. How How's he now constructed I must admit it wasn't his bigest challenge. We're moving into now glass half empty a little bit The eight behind doesn't look like it's connected. It looks like they're living in moments. There's no real combinations or patterns or rhythm in the eight behind right now? is? it's almost a little bit like it's. So how does he get that right? Because there are concerns outnt there in terms of those sort of other eight positions. All of them, I'd say to be fair, I liked what you said about keeping the wingers wide, especially when you've got the two tenens because at times when I'm watching I think players are takaking too many touches like you can't run faster than you can pass the ball and sometimes to break down that low block. I think we need better ball speed and if the wingers stay out wide, you're going to obviously stretch them a lot more. So I did like your obviously I've loved all your analysis. but I did like that bit because if the wingers come inside as a eight or a ten It's just your speed he's not he's not picked those wingers. The wingers that would do that the sort of gibbs whites Folders Palmers are not in the squad. So he's got wingers that are a bit wider. Let's just talk about the wingers right now in terms of sort of where they're at because well you're looking in a negative way. you could also try and spin that and go Well one of them will get up to speed soon cross four of them can Just continue with our deal all you need is one or two N for them to get a little bit better to get closer to Kane in Bellingham. They need a bit more support at the more you think the to them alone won't be enough. No, I mean, look you look at France and you think of Curkey coming on as almost like fourth sububn, you've got Barcy, Due, you've got Dembelle they're so good, aren't they? mean fact their w their wide place Denbell the other day scoring with both his left and his right foot Yeah. I know that we haven't got wingers of that quality And I want to come ont to Saker short to talk specifically about it. but what does he do in those wide areas I'm not sure what he can to go. He can only pick them and they perform That's that's what we're waiting for now because he's showown faith in Gorden, a couple it's not quite happen for him You know,'s played M wayK. if we're going to be totally honest All of them up to this point apart from Rashwood's goal Madauee looks like he's tried but then the final final balls not being great I don't think it's on the manager at that. No, that's on the players great they just not perform. We always say the players, if you get an opportunity, you've got to take it. And these players haven't quite grabbed the yet. beauty with sport, you'll always get another chance But obviously there's more importance on in these games in the group games, you go, okay, right we could maybe slip up one of the games Certainly at least one of them has to start turning up. She starts for two white players I still think Rashford stop It like Rashford. I still leave you think Rashford for all is even even yesterday, there was a few bits where you one I still writon if you were full bat and you're up against Rash but arere still thinking Listen, is end product is That's always a question mark over all attacking players. Ily' still a hard guy to kind of that's where. E the first half, he kept running behind You've obviously a defender L are stretching all the time it is That's where I got to. I thought whoo would I want to play against? I think they'd want to probably play again? probably I wouldn't want to play against J R because it to be ref fer to him. as many times as he was a little bit clumsy on the ball or you might have overrun it or the defender might have took it off him. he does keep doing it. Yeah. And he does at some point he will may or may get something to happen On the right, we couldn't have shown anymore loveved Asakca I don't think O last three or four years and rightly so because he useds to be fair, been an absolute Well, and the warriorors probably too strong a word, but to be fair delivers for Arsenal week in week out. He's been the equivalent of Salad, not in terms of the goals, but he's there every single week. He's had this injury, this severe hamstring injury doesn't look right at all. I mean, for him, he's usually the boy that's bubbling, he's smiling, he's got sort of that ity of edge to him He just doesn' He does look sharp. He's not right and that's a real concern for us, I think. And I think it's right. Well I think we're talking about attac comp players You know, if you've had an injury, if you come back in the defender or a midfielder, you can get away with it. You can because you just shift and you're stopping people from playing. But when your whole game is about sharpness, beating people decision making. So physically again, we mention is he trust in his body And if he's off a little bit with all the top players. It's huge in it. you know it's not hiding place. And the thing is right, when do you know as a foot You need that sharp move and you're not confident enough to do it And then when we watch Sakrit mom he is, he's going, he's going, but then stop he's coming back and he's playing inside. You know, you're looking for that that sharp blast and I think the Arsenal fans know as well I' been looking And we can see that has this been on for longer than six years already have we go back as f six mon I think we can go you can probably go further I think it go you can maybe go like to the Amstring injury and coming back from that and it was always going to be and worry about. arsenal and what we're trying to achieve and the rush that we're going to need in back every remember As soon as Sak is not in the team Winsackerb back, winZackerb back. So No matter how long they're trying to drag the outself he needs to rest. Arsenal trying to win it pressure Arsenal under all the discourse about Arsenal with him not playing us needing him back Has he been rushed back I'm asking. I don't know that, you know what I mean I'm asking has he been rushed? as he push because we're talking about getting into a worldorld Cup and still not starting the first few games then starting a game when we're freeing now, freeing and he still he's not looking like the sacket up We know that' sharp suck and I think that he's somebody that probably You know, the amount of games l his body manage like. Does he look does he when you look at I think then the players have to trust their bodies, they have to believe Hes got to be explosive Dony. If you want to go past somebody, you have to have a sharpness And if he's if he's constantlyin, we've all played with injuries we guys just got to be careful. but when you're If it's about reaction and speech stuff string I think it's coming down to I think When we look at how he's playing at the moment and it's not the same side. that guy has given everything to Arsenal point and now asked to have done that And at the moment, Roy is not is not the player that we've that we've seen before because I still think that he probably needs He needs a couple of months or he needs to to rest 'ause we're talking about from the age of seventeen all the way through to with all the pressure of arrsenal, all the games he's played for England. he's played in all the tournaments. There's not been rest anyime from that time to now. Of course you look at it is he not going to be the Could it have be mental as well as physical, It could it have be mentally' something because I think this guy needs a rest break. I think Delin's not a million miles away from the same thing. H in Delin, I think I I do remember this happening with England in the past where players have had three or four, five years of constant sort of high level performance demands. they play every week, obviously they're good professionals and they just get to that point where they just drop off the edge of a clit. It feels like decckling him And it's understandable by the because I think if I've seen it before in Englandveen the pressure arrsle been on the to have been a maj play pressure Champions League pressure in thenational I to can get along I know bad G G. I was going to say, is it bad for him to be classed as like a game changer though? like because he is a player that can come on, cut in, make a moment out or nothing. Would it be a bad thing to be a player that com know might be good It's a good point, Joe, because even we saw when when Maducke played and started the game and then He came in at the end and then just that little bit of quality in class where he passes it through and Rashford scores, maybe at the moment, maybe that might be a role for him because I would like to see him rested and if he could come on and be in a role where he doesn't have to blast through but he can get on it and late through to somebody's it's a concern to say that your number one right wing is got to be restreed and he's got to come on as a sub's already sort of a concern see that with just I agree with youough by the way. You're talking about the demands of playing for England and obviously, but that's the demands of being a football. Yeah. You've got to be robust. No But you can't play if you're not right, Royin. I think he's being pushed into six. Obviously, but if you could look at loads of other countries, players who've played and lots of players have go, no, I play all them games, right Some players play fifty sixty games thisease for other clubs to go to Champions League and play international football So so we're saying Sack has been under huge pressures. That's you got to be robust to be a football. I'm not saying he's I'm agreeing with you, but is that part of a football's joury you go You got to get through these days? I'm just thinking back to two players who were explosive players who did pull a lot of hamstrings when they're younger in Michael Owen Ryan Gigs Jim McGigs at the start of his United career, pulled a lot of hamstrings I remember Gigsy saying to me once said could he stopullingm strrings all of a sudden when he was like twenty six, twenty seven, I think don't sprint anymore was really. It's like I see spring every week.' lucky because's got the ability. what'm saying I remember saying to me, I don't run at one hundred percent anymore. He said, I pull it back to sort like ninety five percent and make sure I just you know imbalance defendnder. And he still played He said Because when I go one hundred percent where you really like every he said that's when I pull it I remember Michael Michael Oan coming back from his and he wasn't quite just got that sharpness. when you do when you hamstring badly, he's had an operation on that hamstring by the way as well, when you have that operation on it And you just wonder whether he's going to have to, not just necessarily in the short term But in the longer term, just have to look after that because it's a bad one, isn't it? that for And the thing is he's changing his game. You mean literally changing his game. Yeah. The thing is I think even can you imagine Because we know what an Achilles injury is like and how b that can be Imagine how it is now, he iss Achilles, Yeahah and I think can imagine you're a nurth trying to nurse through that where Yeah. If we're talking about sprinting and sharpness, your're Achilles is the most can I tell you something component you need What could it be? what's the ben if P's having all these issues and you're looking at the bigger picture? Well he shouldn't be here and, should he really you should be resting. Roy I suppose that's we're going to on to that in a minute in terms of obvstly Reese James, li Remento. Yeah, but didn' not play as much football asac. No, no, my point is though thej they are injury prone and they've lost them both. So my point is when you pick players who have you know sak we had an injury coming into his tourament so he's definitely not in the Reast James liveramento camp because he's played a lot of thatball. But he's got he's carrying a knock. Decklland' obviously been carrying this issue for quite a bit An which obviously they brought him with just You know, you said should we abroght soccer, should shouldould he be here if he's like ninety six percent ninety I used think as a football player, if youre two, four percent off your nothing You're either a hundred percent or not for the attacking players the attacking players I mean ye. for the attackking. If you lose a sharp this as is an attacking player You can just and if you know it, Nev, if you know in your head, you're not at your sharpest, you will stop taking people on. You will do what's maybe sack and I'll just go back in and maybe the next time I'll do it instead of you're not going to play your natural game iously not couldould you be overthinking manage your look go and go like I'd rather have a declan rice at eighty percent than say another player with a hundred Well defitely if you think thel right for midfielder, I think again we go back to I think the attacking players physically and mentally if they're not at their best or sharp. There was an incident yester. I remember he was kind of play it through. You know like he was favorite to get a sack and he just Again if he's not trusted in his body, I'm worried. I'm worried for him for now he's in this worldorld Cup. U he's trying to play through this World Cup wherever, but then The season starts again Yeah Yeah The season starts again. so when is this guy going to get the rest of For me, he looks like he needs Yeah, I think look, I think it's a concern. I think it's a big concern with him that he basically is in this position because I don't think when you know, Rooney' has come to a tournent when he wasn't quite right and I said Beckh comees to a tournent when they weren't quite right. Becks comes to tournent They don't get right. You can't get your fitness peopleople like to Brian Robson getet your fit in the tournament. No, this is not this is not preseason training. This is a World Cup where everyone's at the absolute sort of height of concentration. and I do think you arere right. I do think he's going to have to be a subplayer. I you know he's going to have to play he's going to have to come off the bench. And yeah, the games can just take a massive toll as well. obbviously if you win the World Cup this year it's eight games That's a lot, isn't it? It is a lot to be available. because people were saying, I think it was Jamie Carga actually did an article on Holland beingreed. I think it was and they were like, o should he have been rested? I think if they can afford to rest the big players like Delan Rice, if you could potentially Mess was so last eightight games. I think I remember playing seven games in a World Cup and I ran seventy seven K in that time I was dead by the end of it and I just think to keep your players fresh for the latter stag is especially just physically again, it's mentally I think this could be the first time I don't know with you guys as well I've seen a manager that' picked players that I'll They have been prone to injury And they've had injuries during the se and they've still gone. Well, let's come ont to that now Riy because we're going to get to wr back in the it's a position that gets mocks quite a lot on the. next game. my image of soccer is in tournaments in being sharp on the pitch in beaming with a smile and being on those inflatables in the pool the day I mean just the happiest person in the camp and I've not seen that in this tournament, you know I mean? It's that coming to full back, which look yesterday We got the team useds through, and obviously Gerald Koner was at right, and actually you think he did okay. in the game I thought it was quite sort of you know, it was a six out of ten performance. I thought he did his job well against poor opposition and his poor opposition. but I thoughts to myself How have we got to a situation And it can't be what Thomas Tooool's planned. He picked two players that you say are basically they are injury prone Reese James and Limento. They get injuries. they are They're not robust. You talk about robustness as,rooy, They've not been robust. and to be fair, I have a lot of sympathy for players who were injury prone because I had the lads at United, who to be fair were injurred used to feel sorry for them because they don't want that. They feel like they're helpless. they feel like they're not supporting the team. We've now got a situation whereby Geral any is playing right back. Trent Alexander in a squad of twenty six, we haven't got Trent Alexander Arnold. I did say that program we did before the World Cup How can we not have a place in a squad of twenty six for Trent Aleanderand, even as the Garanner of Panamara, Deep line, it is wrong It's a head scratcher. It is wrong that one isn't it? I mean, you can't say it's right when Joelal Kan is playing right back in again. Yes. But this is why Gary when when that happens, you have to go, well Well, we'll see how it pans out because, you know, and now we're at a place where it's panning out. This is where the question can be asked becauseand is out now as well. ' is out. He's done' out And so now what God forbid anything happens to Jed Spence, what do we do? Is Shallibar going to play right back? Back to you C complayed, but at the same time, he's brought Shallibar in But then you're changing to two c a half, you know you just it's just it just feels like the planning. They did say James might be, I think they said James alsor He said Hmprings. Of course. I we just been speaking about hamrings last hamring What I say in a wee? So then if it's a week, you got a risk, then you gott to try and train and you get yourself then it's not like, oh, in a week, Oh, you just jump back on the pitch and you're fine. You're still worried because it's a week Well m two weeks after the bike and I'm just walking so we might be al. Have you definitely got a hamstring? Yeahah Well, I got one. Have you got a hamstring? Yeah, it's just becausecause I talk like sprinters I know. I never pulled my hamstring when I played football because I wasn't quick enough to you do have hamstrings? I never pulled my I do not, especially when you' we did because we were explosivive. explosive But the thing with you was actually She's sitting down and then all of a sudden when you're getting up, you're doing something else So then bam you've gone to another place with your hamstring. Butuffer to get back in how long like a week would it be? I've never I've never heard of a hamstring take a week. So know who should have under showed today? Pysio I wish you have under sha today. L' a heads up on these injury? Y. list to medical experts. do that It take your blood out of your body. it's going back get you back quicker. But to be fair, looking at it now, Thomas Tull, look at end of the day we're in this we're in this position that England They've done everything that you would ask them to do. Finish top with the group. You know, playing against Kongo in the second round, in that sense, absolutely snap everyone's hand off But there are some sort of there are some things that are just bit does it happen to every squadron? Is there always a bit of no You don't want to lose or four right backs obvly. But when you when you name a squad at twenty six, Can you be a bit blosy about, you know, the Certain players, you got twenty six surely would be fine I bet your does other squads going more hardmon or issues withj. You you said this therero, he doesn't know his best to eleven. you said that afterame. So I'm looking at this now I' thinking about, okay, who's playing right back, who's playing left back, whoo the wingers is he' going to choose and is decling Rice fit in midfield. You've got you've got question marks over all positions, really. I think so dude and the goalkeeper maybe the goalkeeper Yeah ye Yeah. So what I'm saying is that isn't That is a worry going into a knockout, even though if it worked out by you It's a big worry. Usually you have you might have you a solid nine or ten you got I Chrion M little winger. Yeah. but he's got that over far too many posions. Pian Anderson. he's a Yes, right thing you know, can be honest with Anderson now, especially when you see Duke playing like that decking to come backack. now you're thinking Okay, Yes, Anderson and we's good a good player' been a good player under the two cool Th then you're thinking now Do you move Jude from that position and put into ten and you know, when he's being so influential there, can Declland come in and play six And so you're thinking now all of a sudden Anderson do we change what we've just done because we've got the best out of Jude Because if Dcklan com back his do this place. I'd be one hundred percent not. I mean, I personally I think what he may do is put Anderson, he'll never drop Anderson. So Anderson will be here and Decklan and Dude might be a little bit because Deckan can do that for arsen, hasn't it? He's done that before. And Zuber Mend's been like here and he got Erde Gard and Rise. Deckan can go forward a bit. And what So Rogers would come out And it would be Jude and just I agree with you, maybe a little bit deeper than a ten. but maybe it'sl sorry Delaning and Jude in front of Anderson, I think might be where he ends up. He's not going to leave Anderson out. You need them all doing the hard yards anyway, especially if we're going to play an or the other side, but if you come up against some big nations, you can't just be a ten that wants a fancy wall. You need to be point Hard yards. It's the full back.s Yeahah you're breaking it down, but it's the white pairers maybe the full backs, you're thinking. The other ones probably give them sleepless nights emphasis because we know rice and Anderson, they can't produce. The thing about the full backacks and the wide players for me are that it's not just a case of knowing which ones to pick, it's the fact that very unlikely they're going to be able to develop combinations and sort of patterns with each other. I used to think if you're playing with the right winger, It's very important the right winger and the right So the right back and the right winger have that combination. I'm not sure now with So yesterday we were talking for the game. I think Rashford and Riley could. I think there could be chemist between them. I think there's more potential for them to have a bit of Rashford cutting in O Riley is comfortable going forward Yeah oututside or inside and we saw that On the right, I think it's look when yesterday we said sac is in the right one's a big problem. I said it'll be a problem for sccer because I saw Kons are playing the Carabal C final it right back and he use he does a steady job there But you're talking about the fact that that subtlety of the Ben White sacer combinations or the timber sacer combinations, you donre not going to get that because you're just not going to get that with Kanza or Jed Spence and acer. Yeah But the thing is I think that Jed Spence could play and go around soccer because you know soccer is coming inside. So why are you then gettingting somebody who's not going to either support him by going outside him Someone like who knows Yeah. It doesn't make sense. It didn't make sense, you know, even if you're saying, you know, I'm going to playQanta but Let me play Jed Jed, I want you to get up. Sacka iss going to come inside, we know that. I want you to get outside and get crosses. Why didn't that happen doeses Spence have the quality of I think he producce cr. You know? You know something, Roy? No because everyone says he's in the team because he's a good defender. a good defender, but we saw in which game was it where he blasted came up approacher trying to get forward. So it's not like he's afraid to get forward. should have it would have been a great qu would right. I think when Jed Spence gets forward, I agree with you. He can sprint forward and I think he's got great energy I thinking that I't think it's combination with his wide player. I think it's just a sprint forward. I don't think it's like I don't think he's dovetailing with his right winger at that point personally as I see. I don't think the subtle pass is being played with his and combinations. I don't see that developing. Jet Spence, I think I think will do a very good job against potentially like a Vadicious Junior or a I think that's why Tkle tried to probably he was looking at Ben White Prob exactly the reason why he was because he wants somebody a combination like that. Yeah, I think that's right was It was. peopleople saying why now you could see you wanted him and soccer to makebe Well, then whyite to be fair does play quite well with soccer. that you have a little bit of an understanding and probably hadad Weky as well because obviously played at the same blowback Rightback has been such a rich position for England over this last six seven years and we're almost like scrambling. You know, Kyle Walker, Tripia, Reese James. It's like nowar Liverento, Trent. He like we're now scrambling and the kid that's playing for realal Madrid Yeah he's not here. But why is' Trent to play it like it can't be football in Reasons. It can't be truly I must admit if look yesterday if I was watching that game, And I was Tre Alexander Arnold Karma Fold and sat at home Gbs Gibs White. I've been looking at that game what have I done wrong? What have I How have I not impressed enough to beat in this squad You know, for me I'll be asking myself that question. Harry Maguire also went public on it I do think personally, if you've got twenty three players in your squad, which is what historically managers have always had, if you've got three on the end of that, which we now have. I would have thought there would be a space for Trent, Palmer and probably MagGuire. because McGuire on corners, by the way, in free kicks is a massive threat Yeah. Yeah we got through that game yesterday through unlocking it from a corner And MagGuire is the best at that to be fair to you. So I do think those three selections at the end. But when he gets this job the manager, there has to be an element of like they've given him the job for a reason Yeah. So you can't you just there has to come a point. It's not normal having a debate about it can We can keep talking about players who aren't here. Theaut of international football sometimes when you can people go you go, I can walk with this twenty six players playing with Kands right back. You do talk about. I can not. Of course. Yeah, you can talk about it and go listen Will he do a job from? and talk about his pluses and minuses for the players who are here Yeah. But you can't keep talking about players who aren't here today. R, the thing is that Be when he made that decision we' were like, all right, the manager made it clear, want I want the bigger picture. I want He said it from The first time we got the job, I've never heard a manager talk so much about I want a group of players who've got the same aims, who were good travelllers, who were good to siting in the bench, want to be the Hendersons Every train every time he spoke to the media, yeah, I liked their attitude, training him was excellent. He talks about the little details. So he's gone with this group of players Sometes we can analze the Licos come, but he's the one who sits around a bus, sees him in the training ground. obbviously what So there's no question what these lads are a good players. McGuire and Trent. have they played hundreds of games experienced international players, but he's seen something in these l that he didn't fancy in. And the thing is right is that he's seen something and all that's all that's fine what you're saying, but like now wearing a quest When in a situge where you're questioning what he done then because he couldn't question it. Yeah but're saying' question England top the group. They've got a game coming up, you expect them to win. J say Spence does play Rw and this happens to lots of international teams You kind of fall into a system, you fall into a right bat youre going, Do you think keep you starting three months ag go? No, no. Spencer was down to pecking order. But what happens in footballers? do you know what you've ended up getting? Because of and injuries. you can fall into a system of play. I'm sure happen when you in England, players traveling you got didn't they keep playing? And you land on a system. I fully expect England to win the next game comfortably And then you're going, hold on a second, something might happen here. This episode of Sixs Football is brought to you by Skybet. Is it bad? Are we right? Are we wrong? Who do we pick? That point that England always gets to in at tornent and obviously it'll work itself out in the next two or three weeks Where now in your mind, Ian, Roy, Jill, and I'll answer it as well, where do we think England are getting right now? The likely route and we know this can change, the likely route Dia Congo Mexico or Ecuador in Mexico in in the Aztecca. one. Brazil or Japan in That's a tough one? In Miami. I've been in Press. And then Argentina, I think it is in the semi. So it'sil you know, Brazil Japan's play tomrow, don't they?? So who did itly after that didn't it? I don't know. but we're talking likelyotes here, but what I'm saying to is now Roy, where where let's startop you in because I'm going to go around this way. Where were England getting to with what you've seen so far? Where do you think England are and after an assessment of the group? Where were they getting to this tournament interesting I think that u You know if we get if we get to Brazil I think we can beat Brazil and then I think we'll probably have problems after that. So Beating semifinal I said semiinal from the start, but like I can't offer what I've seen up to this point Banking putting everything, all my chips on the harrying and Jude saying that we can get to the semis right now So what do you think then from where you are now, from what you've seen so far, Where do you think England are getting to Semes. I'm going to probably say Semes because I said that at the start. It could be Argentinea in the S. Well w they won't get beond. you know, I have to say the Ses because again You know, there's players us here that when you're first starting to talk about what England going to get in the World Cup that I'm not here. Just answer the question. So the fact is it's not still say's not it still say seem' because Semies with a bit of doubt. Without a doubt bitoubt. Yeah, S is with a doubt without a doubt. Wout doubt Roy. I bet Sem' No I How long was? You took five minutes down They definitely won't go I can't see beond the semifineal and I've got no doubts about the qualifying So what could be last sixteen So are you saying quarter final? Yeah? So you're saying they beat Congo and Mexico, Ecuador. And then you think we could trip up against Brazil. Yeah, but defite could do. and if they win but absolutely no chance to se win and beat Argentine, if they're play in the semiies, I just can't see it I'm going to go a final. I see us in the final. Wow. Yeah a big sh and awome I think we'll get a bit of momentum though as that goes on as well. I think the last two teams like no disrespect and all gone have obviously Nil Nil, but you can only play what you're up against as well. I think I think'll hit another level when the opposition gets to. you believe that. I need a lot of players to A lot of managers said that two could said that yesterday he said we will get better but was But G Gioson, I said at the beginning like what the other eight players that when you think of like Messi and Alvarez as they example, right? you think about okay, then two are going to wins the game The other eight Argentinian players look like a massive tight compact unit that are going're going to die to give them the ball to win the game. That's what I'm thinking. These eight players that are going to serve Jude and Harry that are going to win us the games And obviously, do you narry fantastic players Have you got the confidence that these eight players can come together as a unit I'm not seen it right now, I'll be honest with you. In terms of team structure, I do know what you mean. like going into the tournament, you would have like to have had like a set leven that you can work on, but I think we've got a lot of players that can produce moments out of nothing And I think that is inter national football. So I do get what you mean. What's the structure looking like behind? haveave we got players in set positions? There's going to be a lot of changes, which isn't ideal. but I do think we've got a lot of players with individual brilliance. So maybe it's not going to come from a strong structure, but I think we'll get over the line in the It a final. I'm going to say a final Yeah I'm I'm semiinal Maximum with doubts on the quarter Okay, as we are now as we are now. What does that sentence mean us or quars I just I think the win can be Brazil's a Brazil Brazil's fifty if we got to Brazil quarters That is like honestly it' fiftycent Yeah they've got Kunya, they've got V V and they've gotucking's the other one Rafenia Raf. Yeah. So they've got three players similar to ours that can go and win them the game Yeah, but you're not sure about what's behind it. I think similar that's where we are right now. you got you're pretty sure about Bellingham and Cane quite sure once behind it. And I think can that win a Wor Cup? I think Anceloti would you give Anceloti? could he Would you look to him a little bit for when it's a fifty fifty game, which you think Anterat is Anati will just go to He'll just narrow the fours and then he'll just leave two players up there winning the game. Hell likein and Kuna and just say that you two there. he's done that for Madrib. That's my point. you think he's got to That's what I'm thinking now about us in terms of, you know, we're talking about Anderson I say we're talking about Gordon and Rashford, and we're talking about Sakara and Madwaky just narrow a little bit. We've got really good players in midfield with sort of Bellingham Rice Anderson. I think actually those three are decent. If you get one more you want to Jo want to handbreak back on And when did they want the handbreak?? No No, but not you but everyone was saying with the Croatia game, the chat at half timee I was't upset I was'tlly upset after the gar. I was upset with the way we on of the Croatia game. Yeah you was supposed to, take the down handbreak. remember my reaction after the Croatia game, I said there were a few problems in that game. I wasn't fully comfortable with that because there were things in that game that were for me were a bit Chaotic was the word, I think. Yeah, but you should be we're talking about the defensive res. I'd rather had two clean cheets, so you're not ging them credit for that. We look at the opposition. If you had a clean sheet, you would you be happy with a clean sheet? Do you not yet? I wanted two clean sheets after the fact That's exactly what you got got I don't mean negative against the clean sheet. They D you get They weren't great clean sheets. were good on the record. I thought they were. But Panamas to be fair, if they had anything about them, they were poor. I mean, they would have st. not a great clean sheet like with a few stains on And on that point, ITV seven England are back in action and another fifty thousand jackpot is up for grabs It's completely free to play. Simply make your predictions now on the ITV seven app or website for your chance to win Good luck, eighteen plus and TNCs appied introducean who' to come me withide just to home and away with for the last fifteen years, I think. Well, done Ian What do you think, Ian, where do you think we'll get to of what you've seen s semif final. Nice one. seemifinal Yeah. We're all aligned. semif final we're going to Apart from me Quarters maybe. Let's not be under a certain m lost a record. Theyve lost twiceice In eighty seven or seventy games? No more than that. I think it's more eighties An won 's Mexico's h record in Mexico in the Aztecca Eight years I un'm beaten. How many? Eight years. Eight years I'm beaten And've lost two in Lost two in seventy or something. Did you know like Lords of stats if we' just questions it you. No. I feel like you look like. I know routs to stadiums and roouteser grounds, have a cheap budget, but that's a Yeah. I'm wanting the seven largest countries by land mass to participate in the world And by land mass, you mean W that be America? old a second' got three goals conle Can we put the first one in? Hold on a second. Yeah,'s. That's not overthink it. Okay. We'll put Brazil in. We've won five World Cups, three hundred million people No, not all on a second. It's a size of the country. it' still comp be right. But it's a size of the country. not the people. Canada, Russia, China, are in. Russia. Russia hosted it in twenty I you to go Russia. It doesn't matter where it Yeah. youre said h It doesn'tatter who hosted it. they' been to world Yeah. of course they've been to Russia Rus get.. Russia. Russia.. Yes. Russia's number. Yeah, we know they've been there. It doesn't been said down. You you even put doubts on me on Russia. why say Russia? Wh arere you saying they held it? but that's not the question. Well the Conantwell C is's arle is Argentina. It's ridiculous of you girl. You' ever seen it Right? Well, we messed up on that one This episode of Six Football is brought to you by Sky Bet. Duncan. I mean the place to start probably before we get into the Scotland performance, obviously them going out is the fact that Steve Clark it's never nice when a manager loses the job after a tournament or hands his resignation. What's your first thoughts on that when you heard that yesterday? Socked on ait. It's just se the four your deals, you know? Yeah. So as a bit of a knee jerk reaction I thought maybe. I thought it'd be back like that, Mbe's been getting me bit of stick. And he's maybe just in I enough That's what I f originally, you know what I mean? Why would they So in his resignation So quickly after the game So quickly how did he know get a plane? go home Walk the dog No theyatever. and a decision happen Is he beating it like? Is is he beating himself? obviously there's lot of scrw to the on every manager at the World Cup? Scotland obviously had a very tough group. Is there Is it a case of sometimes when you're a manager, you beat yourself up so hard that you just think everyone wants me out. And yeah. I remember Kevin Keegan just resigning after the end of a game once with England and he just didn't give himself any games. Yeah Yeahah he just said I've taken it as far as I can Is the element of that? I think it looks like that, doesn't it? I don't. you think it looks like that. just he just signed a contract. I know, but it was so quiet it was I know that, but why would we sign it if you had intention Be Scotland want' to going to win the World Cup where they't going to win the World Cup. so you know, so why would they walk out becausecause we've been beating Brazil? Do you know what I thinkough Duncan? I think when you come away with a group ofp for four or five weeks, he's done a brilliant job in terms of qualifying. Yeahah, you signed the contract in't that People sign contracts for different reasons. they come over here T Torumus is involved with. there'll also be an element because he looks a pretty decentonest guy the way the games panned out. you t it only window one game, roob is up against it But the way kind of I think you probably have been I've done my bit with these players. I think sometimes I can hit as a manager and I can and then the three tournaments you qualified for, which is fantastic ish one win, I think, four goals in the world. the nine games. I bet he's still like and other manager you could reflect sure would know that you would know that before he' signing the contract. he's got the players that he's going Why would you got the players he whyy would they say you'd have your minds up your st have gone it'll be different this time. In the last two tourums before he came over, he said, his interview's gone. I'm a bit more older, I'm older, I'm more wiser. I'm going to enjoy this a bit more And the one thing he didn't look even with the way Yeah, it didn't like enjoyed it No' that tape any but he's a bit about that taping Dot anything not he's not a smiler lifeer is he? Yeah No, I know that yeah, but even now I He looked emotional after that interview, you know when he w even when he had a win in his first game, you going a big win for Scotland even after that it was a struggle. didn' it was absolute. only beat in oneill. He just seemed bit downbeat. posossible Well I just think he' spite' his dummy t with me. That's what I think enemy.' what think's done. I think it's a reback of criticism And and he's done such a great job getting the getting Scotland to the tournaments. I think he's been I don't deserve this stick. me look what I've Because look he's he's I think I don't know, I don't know a guy. Well I know him mayabbe but he's an assistant at Newcastle But he I don't know what he's thinking, but just looks like a chair. Jin's chair is squeaky. Is it so? It just looks like it's not that big gratise that I d there is it. I tell you saw that? Did you? It like that I was running noworhere. L What floor were you on? You're see if you in New York Yeahah. What floor are you on? I'm not staying in this posh hotel. This is too posh. Duncan just quit ch. No you don't Sy is I'm funy I don't understand you just sped onit now. He's had enough of to criticism the manager. Surely he was been a lot of criticism of being Scotland manager, I think for him to It is the work cu, but like for inst to do it then after signing four years, it would be I think you'd regret that after a while. We had sort of a little bit of an argument bon at the end of the show yesterday because I was like from my side, looking at the players that Scotland have. What did everybody expect against Morocco and Brazil were in the top eight teams in the world? They were so narrowly beaten by Morocco in a sense they could have had a penalty and then they got obviously beat up beaten up by Brazil, which I don't think was a surprise I didn't expect anything other than what I saw. Maybe they could have got that little bit over the line against Morocco and got that penalty, but what more could he have done? What I know there was Royan Ian said yesterday they should have more of a go, but I was like, who are they going to have more of a goal with? Which players are they whichich players have they got that are going to have more of a go? you know what I mean Was Scotland? Yeah. was Scotland identity the way they played the team was Is it high pressure? is it Well, So the hources for courses in the way and obviously the other team would m the position didn't they so he' was going to sit back. So wouldn't he be high pressed? would it be shhankling and all that? Because theyre that type of player. So he probably would be in his right to sit back and defend a bit more. againgst against against Moroco en couounter. I' try to countert look for a set play point But the way you're describing it, Nev is our teams come off to the World Cup So you thoughta it was the best they could have done. You think no team should ever done over cheap No, my point is do the best team we ever get before from Scotland. If you said to me, how can they get a result against Morocco as an example, right I would have said sit in, stay in the game and try and get a moment where you can either win one nal or justar happened. I thought it nearly happened. I thought I thought you cant be going on after seventy seconds. I look to be fair the boy handley steps up. It's a bad decision for him. but look to be fair he's playing at a level that you know, the can that's a point. The guy can't run. My point is is that with the players at Scotland have I think against Morocco, the tactic that he deployed was the one that I think probably ninety nine percent of the coaches would have deploy. sit deep, try and have a little bit of a goal towards the end and try and get something to get us overight it didn't quite work. but I don't I don't think he could have had he could have high press Morocco. No but he will look at he would look at his nine games in tournament football and they've just come up short in loads of ways like that. When we're in a mindet, we're not se for Scott to go going home. But you also against Brazil, don't want you' too in a house playayer or the back to thinkking up players. where you got people closing you down. That's what you might say to certain players. yourour identity might be going and go back to when I played with Ireland and don't be afraid don't be Don't be a football snob here and go we can play her around to the back. now let's get a for and we get up there.. There's not wrong with it. What was the expectation of them coming into this tournament? L exact to get get the g that would have been a good idea There's not wrong with that Yeah. You know, maybe if they scored another couple of goals, I mean a group I don't know who the points went with the goals if it didn't help hate it I hate it. Yeah. maybe they got a couple of of goals or something. you know, meanbe the sea points get you through in no Doas anybody got three points in mant three the next four points was deaful, w not. But they haven't massively underachieved, have that? to get out of the group would have been a big Has you had that much stick, because I't seen any that stick. I mean, I't know you' have been getting them stick, not I mean, but I' not seen that much s of stick, right'mum me Ihing when you look at when when I look at at a group of players and you think that okay We're probably going to have to play a big deep because we've got no pace at the back. We're not going to high press because we haven't got possession players. You haven't got players to keep the ball You haven't got a Duncan Fergson that we can lump it up to or in Nile Quinn that Ireland had and they had runners for midfield. So what has he got? He's got two players in midfield who are basically McGinn and Mac Tominy. He's got an aging backline with Grant Hanley and Hanley, Robert Stro team go on that road We an experienceced Gary because country If we were young, you'd be going to an experience. what do you want? You can't compare Croatia's players with Scotland's players not I'm just askking about the ages of them Now my point is they've got an aging back four. They've got a midfield. they've got an experience back. Okay. Theyve got an experience back for, they're going play deeper You' got midfield,'ve got a little bit of quality in beginning med on it and you've got very little upfront. Is that fair But that doesn't mean c they can't get results. I you getre qualified How did their quality? nearly got job. was't bad Moracoco was ne badan I say it don't good? thinkking bad something his groups sorry. Rob Moracco wasn't a bad bad performance f I mean I know we lost It wasn It wasn't Tonkin. was it wasn't the four we got a for Brazil. We're green on the same thing here but I'm sure the manager's job is you Hood a manager's job is to find a way. I'm happy to press Steve Cacked theicost come up, but I'm trying to visualize a picture why he would say 've done I've done as much as canamis his. It's good to been the criticism. qualified for trreat O of course. It's good have been the criticism, why through his resignation But Wh did what criticism come from, Duncan? I'm not sure because I don't really keep it update. It must have been for the Scottish press or the press or whoever it' been obviously I've hamered them, haven't And the fact that maybe they lacked goals or they lacked on the front foot or something that people would just say. because of've lost a few games. but we wouldn't say that because we say maybe just say sting in a low block say get because gos against Denmark in handed, rightight. I know playing at hand in a tournament full playerers in in ten degrees the middle of February is different. That's why Of course But it can produce results. Scotland can produce results. Look, I think to be fair, it's the fine lines of Morocco with that penalty stroke not penalty on Mat Tomin A and it was always going to be a case of can they get a point against scrap a point against Morocco? That was always going to be downamn the group. I think they're all get beat by Brazil and they did do the job against Haiti so I think if he said Would the Scottish FA be putting pressure on him No, you don't think so, I don't thinkks so much. Save a contact on I that you just sting four years. You know, s he's gven a contract and youd think you'd been seeing that contract too. Like ath ago he signed it or three weeks ago he signed it didn't he?, what's chedince then? But he's done a good job, hasn't he?Qalifying for three tournament. Obviously next st the next step is to try and do it. unluck he's not done it, but Well a lot of managers leave a job because they will workal with a group of players and he's been there for seven years. But seven years he's had eighty one games. he's not with the players for three hundred games And what he' obvious coming this tournament and the whole build of the tournament history canan they get a big win? Can they get with the group And when they come up short, the manager has to reflect. And we said you never we never affected long longly or I never reflected too long. only reflected for an hour. then he resigned but he knew for three or four days to were gone out. He waited to officially to have gone. He been be off for two three days in the hotel, with all the players sitting around reflecting. That's what managers do. And he has to look at himself going of a tree Tournamus now which is fantastic. My goodness, can't praise the man enough But in the torrenee, we look at a lot of managers will leave a job and go, Wh, I've took these playares as far as I can And I guarantee that'll be one of his main reasons. There might be something around the background. And he said with all his experience he said he's not thataf he in the last two tournaments, I said I didn't enjw. I'm going to join this a bit more. He did that a few weeks ago? What's something that r day one. even with they wonder a game we go, it was funy even afterwards it was criticising go the way you played and he probably just thought, I've had enough. The last three or four days would have been a horrible three or four days for him waiting for that sort of what would be that And Gary, when you're waiting what do you think're doing? You're thinking and you're reflecting That percentage was just going down, wasn't it? It was like they've got sort what happen it was like I agree with, Duncan. I think maybe after the last game youre on you' out and if flew straight back, you would have had breating space with his family would have gone for nice walks and chilla but he's sitting at our hotel for three or four days and it's all Do you think is the Duncan aoint that you say you think it's because of the criticism that he's received in this tournament But obviously with him being in the job for seven years, do you think he's looked at likes of tyrany Robertson and thought there's no one coming through. I actually think this is as far as I can actually this team this team probably is going to struggle a little bit in the next few years because I'm going to go to the Scottish talalent Bank in a minute and what Scotland's talent looks like in the future. If I was looking at that team and I said this yesterday on the show twenty six players There' some of them that I don't even know. Now I know I know some I don't even know don't out the twenty six Yeah. And going back sort of twenty thirty years like what Scotland the talent that Scotland had what what what is happening Scotland because I'm going to read these n. done that. these two these two happening've we've got four to five in the Premier League. we've got three or four here h has in Italy But not that bad we've got no bad we pool of players. I mean, there's four or five in the Premier League. There's three or four in this area and there's a few playing for rangers. It's not that bad. Is it strength and dips though? It's al always going to be the case for Scotland, isn't it really? mean There's only to be a small nation,n't? there's There's many people playing football isn't I wish'ke smoke smoke. Yeah maybe there's many people playing footb. I've I've lived in Mi Yorka for few years right and it's completely different It's completely different if you play football in your country. They've got football pitches everywhere inind and the sunatia' am like qualified coaches. Yeah. And the thing is, Roy, when you look at the size of Croatia and the same as Scotland, Croatia and Scotland are footballing nations. Croatia have totally invested in that. Why do you think they're continually produce that player. I haveve Scotland done the same. It' that time. And there may be more people in playing football in Croatia. there might be less people playing football in Scotland, which I'm sure there will be. It's the weather, it's the pictures, it's the facilities, it's all that stuff you know not meember I was't living in New York I told you P people play football for Dusty Don.'s twel o'cock night they playing football Do I mean, back out the countany N, whatever mj of the companies there's no a lot of people playing football. used to So kids are not playing football. No, I would say there's less and less people playing football than there's ever been. But D get is amazed as sign that when the team gets knocked out of a toourn like Scottish Scotland did. And all of a sudden people are asking questions about Scottish football and academies and they don' really care about Scottish football because everyone just is interested in their own team. It's amazing that team to get n not fill for everyone st. People are on fo S schoolore to Scotish football, they wouldnt have clue what the Scott leagueen. What' happened to Scottish football got Scott foot?, not. The reason why Roy is because when you do look back on the pers of Scotland, they produced continually and they've always had that support and they always produced and aology then something Yeah but something's happened, Roy where it's not happening now because we're going to talk what we're going to talk I have progression about this over many tournaments over the last ten, fifteen years about the Northern Irish players, Republic of Ireland players, Wels players, Scottish players that when I was growing up in the seventeen eighties were basically infiltrating the top clubs in England What's happened? What's changed? either in those countries or in the Premier League is that weather the ch?'t the Scotmore has got bigger. These cubs are on sccoting back in the day They were just I'm going back to the manionizer just were back in the eighties they didn't always have an Irish connection, but no the sct world. They're looking Africa they're looking everywhere. But these players played for Manchester United Arsen and Liverpool in the nineteen seventies and eighties Duncan. I've not even got the Y it, but this was nineteen seventy eight Martin Bookin and Brian Mclair, Jo Jordan, Arthur Albust, Jim Layon, Gordon McQueen, Gordon Stracken Charlie Nicholas, Kenny Alges, Graham Soners, Stehven Nichol Steh Nichol Al Hansson Gary Glb Johnalk. games the World Cup No, I'm not saying they were but to be fairoy back then it was a lot harder to get to a World Cup for a start. It was like a tournament sixteen or like it was harder. It wasn't a forty. Those players now would be getting into the last thirty two and last sixteen Duncan Th players right were great players in any generation. Why have Scotland mean look, you've got Andy Rberers' done a great job Lipool, You've got Mcginn's doing a job Villing,' got Yeah. you've got three or four, but you used to have a plethora of of players there that played At the highest level of just the top three clubs in England, man united Liverpool and Arsenal in the seventiesread the spread there on ten, ten, fifteen years so Thatots of generation. What's a different era of playing football game I'm asking a question. What's changed that Scotland over the last ten to fifteen years are not infiltrating the very top of the Premer League the same way Premiereague Jays, or is it the Sott kids not playing? It was tougher,n't it' tougher getting the Premi Lague Unit W wasb back in her day. Much much tougher, isn't it fore players in Pmi Lague now? Isn't' my phone partic' be bring pools in the world class players aren't any of the team. so the Scotishland make nobody getting a chance O English has no quick getting that chance. Why is less Scottish kids playing football in your words than they were years? Well, I remember back in the day, we used to play football in the student, didn't? Yeah. And before you know it the signs come up, didn't they? no ball games allowed in all that used to be usedually batatter the off the boys who season everything ring And used to put the signs up in your nose to play the ball game. that started there. used to play in the street at the time. there was always pitictes available for you to go playing. there was always people wanting to take the teams. was I got through the Boyys' Brigade I come through the Bys Brigade. So there's always people willing to take lads to go and play football and girls. But that's may changed. The people aren't willing to to volnteer to takeick it because foratever reason. But Duncan Scotland have produced some of the greatest coaches in the history of British football and some of the most fantastic players That's a fact. That's just the fact you I'm not going back to Dennis Law and players like that. point is a long time. get that.'s. If you're Scotland and you're try to reinvigorate this country into a Croatia, which is you know, four or five million people, you've gotot you've got a football passion up there and so. how what ask Do iter to England Duncan About fifteen years ago, there was a reset we sent George's partark in whatever you say from that moment The women's team have gone on w one tournaments, the under twenty ones have gone on won tournaments. The actual national team have gone on and produced more better technical players and they get into semifiles and five. There was a big reset in English football ten, fifteen years ago from the FA that to be fair has brought reward. It has. I mean, there's been that's all I was saying when I was saying that Scotland' their vision is't bowling. What' Sotland doing popping only that fund and it begin me I would than And also like it's like everywhere, people are building on pitches is onn't. Like there's a lot of development going on in the country. People are building hooes and things that so you' know get the facilities to go and play football, Yeah. They've no got a backs in George'sark or these academies or whatever they've got in England. Money does come into it doesn't it? put lot of funding in there. Keeping fields ify playing f can still find I talk about when you get to Detorum, still find an identity where you might goew York. You're up against it. We had it with Ireland a little bit a bit like Scotland, you're always up against it You're not producing Harry Kaines or these type of players But you find you find something with Scotland have done to their credit in terms of qualifying Iissed that last bit. so wouldn't have come over here What if Whatever success they've had in terms of qualifying, they've just come up short So don't think it's a big major major thing, is it really? Well Well beat a for Brazil I think we're going back to point with Steve Clark. I mean, you know, I don't really know why he's through the tourl and, but I think it's going bebe need react. What's next What's next?'s the who's the next cult of Scotland?'s when I read it. I thought He's just thrown. He's just thrown it right in the deep end there because hisn nebor. Who is next? Duncan Nand. Well They can phone if the w. Wh is next Who is the next Scottish coach? We sayay loads of good Scottish coach's new all of a sudden because again, we're not getting opportunities. English coach may make not get oppunity Scottish coaches are going to get opportunities. Who is the next guy? It' a job for somebody. That has a fantastic job. who is that guy? It should be yours' coming up. It's a chance for Scotland to qualify if you'. you if you're someome top managers out there are looking for war Scotland's a great ch opportity. I to do the right. I know. I would like to see a Scottish fell in Ch Sotland. I'd like to see an English guy in charge England. I'd like to see a Brazilian guy in charge to Brazil. That's the way I are. I'd like to see a Scottish fell managing Scotland. Does that sucks? No I doesn't know, but all the players are going to be Scottish. So how come the managers' no Scottish? That's the way look it. For the playaysers G got to be Scotish, are the playayss gl to be Elish You don't angel lot to be managed Brazil then I mean I think Brazil su today their in Brazilian manager But if it to cp, but they won't be worried about. That's a different point. I'm dis person Jack Chaton, trap a tourent. I get that. I think the Irish fans when they were singing at a tournaments were worried about they were like done a job. I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying our map performance would be for a. So that is all. which got who's out in the idea becausecause his's nameed D. The only one I could think about is David Mys' in a job Scotam Scott Gam was to to twenty one. he's been there for a long time. If that was the progression's Gream soon.s Gream soon. C can we get Gamb back Yeah. He may play as well, if we're getting me play in the midfield for us Simes it's good though for a national team to be introduced to someone who's maybe not from the nation as well. like to introduce them to a different way of thinking the women's team.'ve that they've tried out a German coach, shouldnt. I think I've tried everyverybody's tried different coaches That's just me as a preference. If you won the World Cup I' I' won the World Cup, shoot even to be b. but' no be better to win the World Cup English fellow But you do think that'd be a bit better look. L I a winner Well I've been in aob. I've been in a jress with people who aren't boughtom. Jack Chaton, neverever an issue if I thought he's really good for the job and he can moteate the team again. You're not worried about he's from Cork, Dublin, or Dy G. Well if he was for Dunago and Cork or not, would you prefer that? If he wass done a good job I must have I prefer English coach being Charer of England, Dunan. Duncan, I prefer Engish coach be Charer Eland but know I played under Sengo and had a couple of squads withpeell waso Cpello. So I've seen it from both sides. I've never seen the benefit yet really of a foreign coach managing England. Can I ask you somethingsuk won it? fourty eight teams here many countries or our managers that areamp. there's a lot brooy. I money I' a guess or a forty year. I don't know. I' a guess. I don't know I' guess one five. twenty five M than about fifty percent What was that? What did you say that? O the forty eight teams are at the World Cup. how many managers are here who are managing a team that they want born in. moreore than fifty percent. twenty seven Dy Sid I think it's only one managerers was of a winner. There' no When he's w of theal companies of different nationality. I kind of know who has been some toan or There's no I've seen this Lord Jnglland went't it? we a genuine coach at minusule. I't know what you made Yeah of course You what I mean There There's not many people have' ever done it. I mean looks, English coaching has struggled now for a long time. English coaching sort of in the seventies and eighties with lies you know, Terry Eennibables, Bobby Robson at Barcelona and PSVhind overver and Roy Hodsummers International. they all went overseas and did very well and obviously You know, English coaches has struggled in the last twenty years. What would what would happen? what would happenens right? If seen the Preier League hired all British coaches or English coaches? What would happen Wning would win the leak One they would win the FC Cup O them would win the League Cup, whatever it was. No then they'd all then become winners So Juid here English are British coaches winning. winners and the team who's going to do it? The only difference is then is that Kenidate in the Champions League, that was the only thing a bit The thing is Duncking, The the reason that's fair that isite dreaming No's' fall on.ve got fall on would club? Wh would clubs appoint Elish coaches if the England national team w appoint English coach. Crect but that's that is that's a big one, isn't it? It's not the great. It's not a great sign and the signal to English coaches is when you're saying that base They don't like you We want more coaches in the Premier League from England, but actually you won't even put one in Three out of the last five or six England coaches have been obviously foreign caches. and look I think the Premier League has been rewarded and we've loved it enormously for the introduction of foreign players and foreign players foreign players. I think it's been unbelievable. But you know we can't we're struggling to get footing I mean, Eddie How has done a decent job in the last seven or eight years. Harry Rednaap did a good job obviously at Spurs, but it's been it's been British coaches did get tough jobs, didn't? mean they weret handed the big jobs really the tough jobs they didn't jobs Dough done. they didly get up Job. Fank.ank got the Chelsea job obvious Steve got the vill job' come good new back. Yeah, but what I'm saying is the we have had We have had moments where English coaches have had decent jobs. Eddie got the Newcastle job, obviously. there has been moments, it's few and far between's few. So on your reflection, Duncan, obviously, the first week of the World Cup, the Scottish fans Almost like they were sort of almost like they were marching across America into every baseball stage. It' the first time we' matched across America. It' the first time' matched to across anyemay inight. But did you know something Dun obviously, they're a joy. They're absolutely incredible I mean, just watch your reflection for them of the fact that the money that they've spent the the time that they' spent. I haven't know how to do one It's incredible. how any fan can do, you know what mean? But Scotland fans have always beenantastic, haven't they Whatever tun in No wente I don't know how they find the money, but they tend to find it, didn' they They've been incredible. And I think they would be there is that an issue where you saw with the fans? againg, I go back to like Ireland over the years where have a great crack to enjoy it But no there's a bit of likeame right No no the s an element of our supporters No go. We just want a bit more. We want a bit more than the sn song. Ire them more like that and they want your team to have a rightite go and give everything win or lose and all that to carry on. have a go. And I think there's just been a bit on this triick where I think I'm sure if you speak to Scotland Fans gun, we justed to touch more. he's done a brilliant job L like everybody else watch thing. everyveryone wants a bit more I think that's all we all all do done. we all want to be bit how definite I do. I mean, I want to stay want you to stay here? I want you to stay here a bit longer but unfortunately I''t be to d again game of game ofanada. But thank you. There' that many gams coming, isn't that? And doctor what' the final reflection from you on Scotland in terms of O Bonnie Scotland? It one s along is that there Scotland. Come on,. bent. I'm singing. Oh diny boy page to page. Final reflection, Duncan, is it a is it a big reset moment or is it just a case of no would? this could have happenedentioned thatad's launed That's too far., No you're le. I think the manager to me was a bit of shock, I'm leaving his contract and living Scotland So knew they're going have to find another manager It's going to be difficult, isn't it A and it And and as you said, the pool of players might not quite be there, but I've got no bad bas. do No, come on it's two years to the Eururos is it? Scotland've got a hard time to Italy out here. There's a lot of. I'm talking here aboutryase give you some more support So Yeah, well that's aa isn't it? There res. I don't need you mag,'t such the same problems. He's going to come the same. G see points, Kin But you most jobs have problems rightready? for D. I think it's great job. Wennes Scott Can I leave with Wnteres Scott and F? When theyre gonna have a reset for the fans s the fans can have like you say a little bit more. it's got to come from somewhere. C keep thinking the managerers going to come from somewhere and then cajole these players to do it. It's a great job, Roy in the sense that managing a national team to be fair a tough Scotland is a proud but what I would say is if you look at the pool of talent that that manager has got to go in and work with It is tough He's not a big pool of talent. I just say the one I just see see p all over M Burnley was B at Hull He could have been in the squad He was a top go sc in the championship for Hull. They're not in the Premier League. The boy George Hur M burny at hull on it he scored in the playoff finales he He scored fifteen, twenty goals in the championship new. He's up to the Pmi League new. There a good boy called George Hurst who is at upswitch who scored about fifteen goals for upswitch. He's up to the premiership new. So there's two strikers there that willll be in the preremiership next year this should have been maybe playing or in this sard. you not mean? this There will be a lot of people in for our Scottish job. A lot of top managers will fancy that job I wish them well. Duncan help you get up Yeah done. That' sort of embak it, that's for sure. Thanks the point. Duncan I'm spepecting you s sl to the basketball. Did you tell you beat me the basketball I say not told everybody, isn't it? Yeah? Any, thanks you very much I believe I believe' cross the road and did this thing. Duncan This episode of Six Football is brought to you by Skybet. I'm amazed when a team gets knocked over a tom and everyone's worried about their grassroots and Everyone looks after themselves. But England to be Fairrooy did have a massive reset with a big investment and a big sort of play around sort of coaches and stuff and to be fair, they have improved I know but every's worried about Scottish football and nobody watches Scotish football. Nobody watches Aberdeen or right I'm sating it purely because Scotland have gotone out of a tournament, it's obviously a big news story. The managers that I won't be even Well we shouldn't be concerned about a team when they get beaten in a tournament. No I that money in my structure of Sfolk, Ireland. I know that come all of us come to a point where you think, what's goneong? like we're saying with what's g wrong because now it's going to a place where They've done well, they've qualified, but then it's just completely stuck. The managers just resigned just like that. We're speaking about them now you say we don't watch them on a regular basis in that because I don't I mean the Scottish Lague is the structure of it. becausecause I said the Scottish federate, they need to do more to build that league. Like he's saying don't play football and they haven't got nowhere to play football in They've got to look back on the NS theSFA, but they' they politics arerps because Celtic and Rangers Obviously Celticaor only interested in Celtic and sulfur don interest is sulfur. there's a selfish side to sport They got to do something because they then fight Ireland. not brou up Ireland's problems. Wales haven't qualified. Northern Ireland. All these like smaller countries, these battles are cononstant And the am of it will come to the dollar Sain. George's How much was Sain George's now? Back in the day it was under hundred od million, but would it'd be now probably two, three hundred million if you built Right. So you're talking about that. Where do you think these countries are going to find when they've all got real issues going on? Ireland is stayain? Where you going to find one, two, three hundred million pounds? But I just think if you've got look, it depends what you' population decid population. Yeah, which depends what you'. If you've got sort of like health, wellbeing, mental health, physical health and you want to drive sort of outcomes on impact those things in a country, sport and football, particularly in the likes of Scotland and Ireland could be huge drivers for those types of things. But in Ireland, for example, again, we go going to to money challenges weren' about kids. But what happened to kids back in the they playing football? You youve got iPads, you got different challenges now. Kids are going away from Ireland a competition for other sports, rugby, hurllanding football for such a small country These are ongoing challenges and you just have to wait hopefully every a few years a Robby Keen will turn up, somebody will talk W' a Garrett Bay, a Ramseay. That's what they the other footb they're not going to produce eight n nineteen up. But if you're a football association of a country, for me, your only job really is probably two or three things. One is to make football accessible for every kid in the country. makeake sure the infrastructure is there and the facilities and make sure you've got coaching programs that are a good quality. me That's your job as an association. So England to be fair to them. I'm not saying the outcomes have been amazing because obviously we' not w a tournament with the men, but the women seem have won two tournaments. The under twenty ones the under they've all won touraments.'s been a big So it's actually happening that you can see What were it doing for thirty fivety years before?? No no, but I get that. But at what point are the Irish FA and the Scottish FA and the Welsh F going to do this where they literally put football at the heart of what it is? And I guarantee if someonean sat here from these associations, the SFA, the FA, we've done battles every single day trying to get facilities We go back We're trying to get more quotes coming tr But there's that many distractions in people's lives nowow and different It's easy to do it, Roy, That's the thing. It's's not easy to do butone li a long time to get to that academy at Stt George's. Why did they do it thirty five years ago? He tried that with another show thirty four years didn't work. It didn't quite work. Yeah. But England to be fair have tried. and look the FA t England there are a lot richer countries than Scotland and Ireland. look they go the Wembley revenues, they get big crows, they obviously get sponsorship, which is more because obviously there' but you know in the last twenty years, the production of English technical players, the likes of Mor and Gibbs White Palmer Fold and Bellingham Rogers Esay You know Mad Weky, we produce more, I think we've producce more England coaches, but there a lot of these lads are walking under farm coaches and banning him. they're gone abroad Kane. He's gone to Bay Munich. They're learning new experiences. So when they turn off for an international football match put yourself there is Dig the manager When we were in Ireland Steve Clacks with Scotland and you're watching your players come to your hotel and it's sometimes as simple as this is. when you're sitting there and you're watching Harry Kwalk Hotel. they're bringing spur traits in terms of amount the golds he's got. you're bringing Barermunit traits. you're bringing them the building Bellingam walking in the room, You a gun, wow I think we've a chance to win in. Scotland, Ireland, Wales unless you've got a bale You're walcking players coming from the ch. My point is they're bringing their traits to your international team. go back to the Irish FA, go back to even the women's team with England where Jill talks about her experiences of being flying in sort of what will be terrible sort of conditions, not having good hotels, not having good facilities. you had it with Ireland obviously in the World Cup Roy. And the point is now the women's team do get you know they getting looked after a lot more. They've got a facility at Stain George's Park So now they're winning because they've got f But but I guarantee if you spoke the women's the England manager or the womens team the battleles going on the background. That's probably haven't alwayss gonna be people people into on te so much better. No you left the tourent because of the standards were nowhere near the acceptable level of a country. the FAI a bit more than that as well? Yeah, it was an. right. the FI And the Scottish FA, I think what Ry is saying the other is when are they going to put football first and start start to build these sort of center of excellences and these coaching programs and these people? Do you want to sit all day in and criticize FF? I'll join in They're also good people that these are ist. But that's my point, but it's just ongoing battles It's politics as comm team members working for different councils and that's your b. They obviously want ourland to do. of course they want the national to team do well But again, I think we all do maybe sometimes we live in a different world We' li in bub, sometimes you have to reflect and go. particularly when we're talking about Scotland today There's a lot of people in the background doing massive work there's challenging And it'll come down to money. and England will have ongoing battles.. I don't think money is the answer for everything, but I tell you what, it's a big help If you can help get coaches, Korea, these countries will go, no we are a step ahead of everybody and our kids are coming through moderate. you look at all these players' careers, I but they're all they're used to qualifying for tournaments under sixteen youth twenty one. They're tournament trained players look I'm riffing here making it I love to be interested. Scotland is a good example in Ireland I love that how many these Scotland players have played under twenty one tournaments, underrating tournament. Yeah where their tournament ready.. But let's say Roy, from now on, right. they're going to basically sort of a big investment into what will be four G pitches up in Scotland because you' need to make Ahrourf because of the trition done And then you've got a massive investment into a a center of excellence. and let's say then they're going to fund Let's say forty coaches a year Scotland No, the f forty coach to go and do the German pro license, to go and do thepanish The Spanish prorol license, the Italian pro license. I'm saying just and giving them are they doing the things thousandousands of coaches for is not the an? I know, but I say just let's start with the top forty coaches. The prime example, you mentioned Croatia. I've been big up of Croatia. You look at their record of producing pches. Yeah Thoms. Yeah. Not forty. I know. My point is four hundred hundred then or one hundred and fifty coaches a year in Scotland and Ireland, seend them to the best pro licenses in the world and say, look, we just train you up and get the intelligence from other countes. Right right. And I wouldn't finish on this. So you're on about these coaches. seend them on proro licens. Brilliant example. Brilliant example Have you done your pro license? Yeahah. How much should the cost cost a lot money costs a lot, they have to fund it. they have to fund it. That's what. That's my point. But you have to if you're about to thousands of couraches, that's hundredundreds and hundreds of at some stage where someone's to have someh do you think they're going to produce these quadries are sacrificed. These countries have got problems with the government trying to get fund and people are trying to get houses. F football is near the bottom of the panceing hospitals and schoolsoney send fty coaches to Ity on a coaching and bag.ve got people you're the street. If you're a government and you put physical well beinging and pee at schools and sport at the bottom of your list, not thinking it can help with antis social behaviour of mental and physical health and wellbe and all these outcomes. know the health, the NHS in England is overrun, the NHS in Scotland is overrun. And if you don't think football and sport and physical activity is at the heart of that and inspiring the new generation through football or wom'en's Fantastic. I think that's to me fantastic. If you don't you talk about England, I was an interesting you with twenty five years ago, thirty years ago. All you ever spoke about you scoreed you but you came back from England Best it did we did. Private jets, the best medical stuff did Best hord to England will be one of the best prepared teams of this World Cup. Absolutely. And what does that come down to It's money. What's this money? I, why't the Scottish and Irish governments invest they' got money, they got lots of money? done. the Irish government are not saying. That's I say. violence is months But you know our countries's not the violence. You know what happens to all of us sometimes We do. happ to us. We're in a studio Somet ofes who don't live in the real world we chat about. Oh, they've got get hundreds of coaches. They've got to get pitches might te in Ireland Rockmonder. they're battling to they're battling to stay alive. Yeah Survival, lights. J of these some of these smaller clubs, rooyal team Cub ramblers. I go back to the ground. It's the same ground I left thirty years ago I know it' Sotland still the Republic of Ireland is a quite wealthy country right now. It's doing well economically challenges It's got cs. It's got ch if you want to divert your funding to something, I wouldn't put football or sport at the bottom. Maybe not at the bottom. But there's other stuffisten there's other of stuff more important than sports sometimes in life Is there we sit and The sports like, all of a sudden today we're talking about Scotland's problems Tmorrorrow we' be talk about Sottop.bsolly.. Let's go to Manattan go sh.' feel go make down. Scottish fans feel its the Why does it have to be when you' knocked out of a tournament? Ne That's when you notice it more But that's not ready or is it reidy? Right, we're not saturing telling Scotland how to run. We're just asking a question. I know a lack of disappointment. I get it. We're coming in sense from a kind of a good place. But I'd love if somebody who was sitting there going you don't know a half it. I can imagine the challenges of getting funding his priorities are funding and the Irish government and the Scottish government have got to surely look at health and wellbeing outcomes through sport as being a big fact, getet more kids into sport. If you said to me, what would the be advice I would give to parents up and down the country, give your children a sporting upbringing because it'll keep them out of trouble. It'll keep them healthy, it'll keep them competitive, you learn about discipline, losing, winning Friendshipsious level. I appreate you that. You have someone to go to. You need coach, you need someone to give you a lift a game. Exactly. Well That's all part of the sport. England's success the last few years ago, England done really well. A lot of uss on the back of Harry Kane. It's great if you have a world class striker, then that can lt can lift your country and carry you Bailes Bale don't know what whels of a sudden Bale retires what happen to Wales all of a sudden. strange enough, they're not getting the results they used to be getting Ireland had some really good players, a gold score. Robby Kink helped the team for years. When you a gold score does help Scotland's enough for this tournament without a top class striker and if they had, they probably would have got that draw against Morocco and you wouldn't be sitting there worried about Aberdeen Academy. You wouldn't be But W eles we fair produce use and Rush and they never qualified for tournaments No, no, it seems harder to qualify by them right now. You keep saying that gu is a lot harder than it was. keep saying Wh was Scotland's last World Cup though
