From UFOs to psychic powers and government conspiracies, history is riddled with unexplained events. You can turn back now or learn the stuff they don't want you to know. uction of IiHarR rad Hello, welcome back to the show. My name is Matt. My name is Noel They call me Ben. and you can too. We're joined as always with our super prodroucer Dylan, the Tennessee Pal fakgan. Most importantly, you are you. You are here. That makes this stuff they don't want you to know if you're tuning in the strange news, then welcome to july sixth. Hy happappy birthday, United States and also some quick notes about the weather. I know all three of us you guys may be no offense a little more daytime oriented than me but they It's true. It's true. It's murderous outside I think I mentioned this off mike. I went from my usual bike ride route the other day and then on the way back, I noticed that I was feeling kind of nauseated and like weirdly like clammy. And then I got into my car finally and looked and it was ninety six degrees. I think I nearly had a heat stroke or heat exhaustion or something. It's like walking through hot so especially you get those shivers And it's like that in New York too. There's a heat wave coming in New York City it's going to be above one hundred. And I think we're experiencing a heat dome situation guys because I looked at the calendar on the weather app and it looks like as the day progresses, the number keeps going up, up, up, up, and then it kind of holds because there's no way for the heat to escape because of this dome Right, right. And this place is inland enough that we don't get the benefits of being off the coast. But unlike this is a great segue, unlike our friends across the pond, a lot of people in the United States have air conditioning and don't consider it especially impressive It's not a flex, like having a Patec or a Rolex or what have you. It's a basic utility. and I was talking to several fellow conspiracy realists who live in Europe and the heat wave there is frightening because you guys know, we've been Europe is known for many things, but air conditioning is not one of those. M Yeah, same with New Yorkity very true. no central. A lot of window units Right. Or in Europe, not even those. sometometimes you just literally a window. Yeah. Well, and yeah, one of our British friends was explaining to me that their their housing is often so old that it's an enormous, indeed unaffordable investment for a lot of people to install HVAC or centralized air conditioning systems This is a record breaking European heat wave, you guys. If you go to even just like the meteorology nerd such as Au Weather, you'll see articles like one that released Monday, june twenty ninth. We're recording on Wednesday, july first toll from the heat wave alone is over one thousand people in France right now and probably rising as we speak and the heat wave continues. peopleeople are dying in Spain again due to the heat. We've seen this before. the numbers are pretty frightening guys. We know we know that these cities like Paris and Frankfurt are experiencing ten day stretches with temperatures eighteen to thirty degrees Fahrenheit above what is normal and expected. That is abnormal and unexpected And for the humans that are living in these places that have the kinds of homes that we're talking about here that may think, hey, perhaps I can at least get air conditioning in one room of my house and keep that one a little cold. You guys know the old school like In my head, I'm imagining the GE window units These like old school ones that you'll see across Atlanta. those Those here cost about one hundred and eighty two hundred dollars and that you could just go out and get one. That's a lot of money, but it's not It's not too much, right? But if you're in, let's say small town in the UK right now, one of those units is going for anywhere between four hundred pounds and six hundred fifty pounds simply because the demand is so high and there are so few of them W Be because of gouging associated with the heat wave. Yeah because of the's a run on it. Yeah. similar to like toilet paper or mask during the COVID pandemic So just imagining if you're in that situation and now in order to essentially protect your own health, especially if you've got someone vulnerable in your house or a child, a baby It's gotta go drop six hundred and fifty pounds That just seems like Untenable which is closer and closer to one thousand US dollars for comparison. And again, as Matt was saying, that is a window unit that can maybe do make it livable in one room of your domicile to steal a phrase from Justice Thomas. Exactly. And let's go to the experts. So you know it's not just us podast doing podcastery. The World Health Organization Director General Tedros Aranam Gabreasas wrote on social media earlier this past weekend, quote, Europe is the fastest warming continent on Eth heating at twice the global average. Right now, one hundred fifty million people are living under extreme heat, hundredundreds have died, schools are shut, grids are buckling They're just not prepared for this Yeah, and they in all fairness, they shouldn't have had to be if this were for this. Yeah abnormal. I mean these are patterns soon to be less anomalous, it would seem as they increase and exacerbate coold water blob. like I was talking earlier super Eld Nino T ye We're dealing with all that. We've got the wildfires just burning across lands across the world. We've got those earthquakes. see there were four earthquakes recently that were all seemingly connected all within eight hours of each other And decimre extxtreme temperature fluctuations could cause seismic activity, right? Is there some thought behind that? Are they connected to climate change or is this a whole other problem that we need to? Yeah, the sci that's a good question. the science continues in that regard, but we do know you know, we always like to begin our strrange News segment with positive news and end on positive as is on fire. I in reality So the the reality is respond that that there is some there is a little bit of good news in that at least one of the children who was missing in the terrify Venezuelan earthquakes, including people who have been deported to Venezuela from the US, O child was found alive after missing for more than six days Wow From the rubble Oh my God, I pulled from the rubble. Yes. There was a father and son found. like four days after the whole thing went down, C you guys imagine that those two scenarios? like just existing under that rubble for that long, attempting to survive No, sir, I cannot That sounds horrific and PTSD inducing And hopefully more people will be found survivors. So let us know folks, what your take is on this frequency of seemingly connected earthquakes as well as the future of the climate. real real easy question to answer. It's enough sometimes when you look at the world to make you think Maybe you should take things in your own hands. Maybe you should become a vigilante. We've got so much to get to. We recently, as you'll remember, Gents, did an episode that I think meant a lot to all of us. It's called the End of Ownership. Thank you to all our fellow conspiracy realists who responded, and thank you especially to, I believe it's our Pal atomic historian who hpped us to this one I don't know if we all heard about this And it's a few days old, but we talked about how when you purchase a digital thing, like a digital film or an ebook or what have you You are really purchasing, in the opinion of the issuing company, you are purchasing a license to enjoy it until they change their mind for any reason. And we warned against it. PlayStation Gu is now deleting five hundred fifty one movies from customers' accounts. So people have paid for these movies are getting the rug pulled. I would say though, you, this is not, I'm not trying to victim blame here, but who's buying movies on PlayStation network There are more There are better ways to go about this. It just seems like an odd choice. I didn't even know they sold movies on the PlayStation network. It's crazy to think that some people have to make that hard choice. like, Okaykay, I'm gonna play PlayStation. I know this about myself. so I'm gonna pay for that subscription fee, right? Oh and then that's the ecosystem that I'm in. so maybe because that's all I can afford That's a good point. like Apple has the same kind of sandbox aage. Yeah. So kind of movies are being removed The Terminator frranchise, Rambo First Blood, The Deer Hunter, all of those are bangers. and of course, one of the best war movies out there, Bridget Jones's Diary. That's very funny Very true. Dude, the deer hunter, I remember like going through my first really gnarly breakup and seeing the deer hunter on TV and seeing these poor saps stuck in these cages in Vietnam and being like, well, at least it's not that bad. Yeah. If you ever wna feel good about your life, watch the Deer hunter. So many jokes. I should not make on error with that one, but yeah, you're absolutely right. Shing about a revolver maybe Ben. Big. Perhaps. Yes a big moments.. Ciddy Mao indeed. there's no mention of any refunds or what you might call make goods for the affected users. Sony's statement is You'll no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, which I guess is their sandbox. and it will be removed from your video library. The films are going away due to our content licensing agreements. S they should never have agreed to sell this Exactly if you really. It's a bait and switch in the worst way. Like I get it and we can get irritated when things are soon to be leaving Netflix Okay, but I pay a subscription and get a ton of other stuff for that money. If I'm buying piece of content and paying money that I will never see back.. That should be against the law. That ain't right? We know that these deals dry up or the terms change and the collections go to maybe the network or the studio's new streaming service. That shouldn't be the same as buying the license for for for you should have that or it shouldn't be allowed to be a transaction option. Especially three quick points on that one. Sony had a twenty twenty five, profit, not gross, but profit of seven point five three fivears billion US dollars just last year. They've also recently said they're no longer going to be making physical copies of games starting very soon Well, the GTA six news is that there's going to be no physical version of it. You might be able to buy a case, but even the case just comes with a download code. So I think physical versions of stuff are going the way of the dodo. Your collector will be a metal box with maybe maybe a map, a poster, a little bit of swag. Well, and GT eight six is going be such a tone setter. Like if they're doing it, this is the new way, this is the way. You know what I mean? That one's such a big high watermark Have you guys seen the collectors versions of some of these big box games like the when halo, whatever the newest Halo was when it came out, there was a Mass effffect three bundle that comes with like helmets, you know And this crazy stuff. There was one for a fallout that had like a pit boy like a like a Yeah And they're charging like a thousand bucks for these things. And you can imagine there are people that will do that It does suck that there's no middle ground for sorry guys personally like me, where on my walls, I've got old video game boxes and things that I use as art memories. back when the covers were better looking than the games are intriguing, you know. Well that just kind of sucks, but I totally understand, I guess the reasoning behind it, you know, and you're going to stop wasting a ton of resources unnecessarily, which is cool. And Ben, this is maybe a little bit of a different conversation, but I respect to the GTA thing, another precedent that they're setting is that there's a basic game price and then the premium game price that gives you literal built in additional content. So when you're buying the quote unquote basic game price, you're not even getting the whole game. And we already know that DLC is already, you know, iffy in and of itself, but to have like The basic price not even have all the same missions that the higher in version, That's a weird precedent that seems very inherently different than just putting out DLC down the line. Agreed, No, It's a heck of a rug pool, right? Because we also know, like you were saying, Matt, we also know this physicality is meaningful for people. This leads me to the third point I wanted to make before we wrap on this one I foresee and I hope we all foresee I foresee a resurgence in prioritization of physical media. We are going to Witness u I don't know how impactful it'll be, but we'll witness this huge rise of people who are going to be saying, look, when we buy things We own them. Just like so many of you, our fellow conspiracy realists wrote to us to say and vow after our end of ownership episode right now It is not illegal to buy physical media, but you probably will be monitored.' an awkward segue, but it's a Joe Montana passass, right? It's ugly, but it gets us across the line Oh We've been seeing more and more news about flock cameras and mass surveillance since our two part or two chapter series on Fock. One thing I think some of us were talking about with each other off air . Yeah. This is not necessarily flock related, but it's very much in the same vein An outfit called bus Patrol has now put AI cameras in tens of thousands of school buses. So kids who ride school buses are now going to be monitored. and according to an article published june twenty eighth in the drive These cameras are now going to be turned into license plate readers outside of the school bus to stop people from illegally passing the buses, and then they're also going to be fed to local law enforcement. it's like it's part of that seems good, you know, like keeping people, you know accountable for doing dumb stuff and traffic. I'm all about that. But then it's this open ended access and opportunities to use this stuff in ways that it was not intended and that there's no way to opt out of because you're just out in the world. You can't opt out of having your face or license scan just by being, you know, a human being walking around. there's no there's no path to that. Yeah. This company is going to have or claims to already have forty thousand of these cameras deployed across twenty four states And they have some built in growth for any unethical investors. they have built in growth because at least thirty states legally would permit them as in thirty states have no law against this kind of stuff even with the involvement of children being transported U I'm just It's not great This' one I'm say It's a weird thing. I was having a conversation with the ten year olds here about what goes down on the bus. and I was trying to take myself back to remembering the kinds of things that went down on school buses. You guys rode school buses for Sometime in E Just a little bit when I was younger, like in elementary school, maybe for mayaybe only for one year So personally, I can speak to weird stuff going down on buses, even when you were a young kid, like from kindergarten to fifth grade U, you know, some of that is, if you speak to a psychologist general things that kids get up to when they're exploring the world and their bodies and all that other stuff I would just bullying, you know, I would just say there maybe is something worthwhile there. But it wouldn't be for these types of organizations to be monitoring kids and to have, you know, all the law enforcement having access. It would be something that maybe a bus driver would be alerted. Oh, hey, Somet's going down back there and you could make a correction rather than having, you know a cop show up. Right. And specifically folks, these cameras that we're talking about, they are installed often on what we call the stoparm of your typical yellow yellow school bus weirdly manufactured by a company named Blueberirg. So the idea is the camera swings out and it clocks people are trying to illegally pass that portable stop sign, but what's really happening now is that they are reading the license plates of people or drivers, even if they're not actually doing anything. Oh Oh so we're not talking about monitoring inside the buside bus. I thought that it does seem like there was a yeah, a potential broad Well now of it That makes sense because like I like that version. I like the stop arm version. I just don't like how connected it is to other agencies and how it can just be another Forgive the pun arm of those surveillance. Yeah, check out four hundred four media for more, folks. Obviously, this will inevitably connect to flock Well that's genuine safety there. Not long ago we had somebody blow by a school bus and you know when that armss out, you are legally required to stop. And when those lights are flashing and that stop sign comes out, you got to stop because there's kids getting on and off of that thing. And I can like that's a really great thing By the way Bluebird, I agree. manufactures all the school buses I've ever ridden on Sam. Yeah, same. Ben you were talking about Bluebird bus the other day on some aspect of It's weird because this is outside of the scope of this and our time is limited here. but if you want to learn some fascinating stuff about Bluebird, check out what happens to those buses in the US when they are retired. They become something called The English would be chicken buses in a lot of Central America, which is one of the easiest ways to get around. and that's the most time I ever spent technically on a blberird bus. The drivers are crazy, just like taxi cab guys in New York, but they're going around the mountains and the hollers and the valleys and they have made their peace with God actually did have to hold chickens for somebody a couple of times. The Bluebird saga is fascinating. The AI surveillance networking is Owellian. and again, it's enough to make you feel like you might take matters into your own hands, which brings us to one brief mention. We have to give love the opinion on this because it has not been super widely reported in a lot of English speaking media. There is a vigilante in Lagos de Moreno in Mexico He has been called the Batman or they have been called the Batman of Lagest de Moreno. got fed up with the police having all this power and not really enforcing it And so this guy has started catching motorcycle thieves in Mexico or scooter thieves operating at night tracking down the suspects and he doesn't kill them But he he ties them up. to lamp post. buy their stolen vehicles and he writes Rata on their foreheads. If you go to repepublicworld. com there's a great article about this from Nidi Sidha, where you can see pictures of some of the thieves who have been duct taped to poles Wild, right? Like Rata like ranch like they're Yeah, but isn't that usually what you say to someone who's also Yeah, so Okay. And he also draws whiskers on their faces. So it's a little cutesy. No. Does he really That is that true? I mean, they were drawing it. What if he taped a big old hunk of cheese?. I mean, at that point, it's the cheese cost. That's all that's stopping us. But I've got a question for you guys. First off, I know that we might not I think we may be roughly on the same page about vigilantism in general, but would it not be better to describe this guy or this person as the spider manan of the area because he's webbing people up You know what? ourur buddy Jonesy on his weekly weird newews podcast said the exact same thing that this involves sticky substances causing crooks to be held hostage to polles and stuff, that is very Spider manan. That's even something you do in the video game. There's a thing where you can do a stealth thing. you web them and hang them from the polles or from the telephone lines. Even more to the heart of it, guys How much money does this guy have? If he's a billionaire, he's a batman If he's just a run of the mill kid ducta Spideran. Yeah, that's not a bad point at all, you know. And we'll move on to a wor from our sponsors. There's so much to get into here. I'm fascinated by vigilantes and real life, perhaps problematic superheroes. doeses this guy work for the cartel? Has he been green lit by Mexico's shadow government to do this. We can tell you that as of june twenty eighth, five thieves, five separate thieves have been found duct taped separately and together two poles over just the past ten days. So the pattern seems to be escalating unless people stop stealing the motorcycles We'll be back after a word from our sponsors. This might not be the hero we deserve. It's just the hero we got. It's not even really a hero at all. This happened in Trinidad and Tobago where Wednesday of this wee ear love last week as we sit and record on july the first Authorities were searching for a group of burglars or thieves who your vigilantcy Batman may well have duct taped to a poll who were caught on camera using a backhoe to try to steal a cash machine. But they were captured bungling it so hardcore and falling over themselves in, you know, classic at fall Benny Hill fashion that has become kind of the source of a meme, involving one of their striking resemblance to Batman. It would appear that this thief was wearing a what do you call those things a bala Clava or like a ski mask, a black ski mask, as well as a all black duds and black p show that seemed to be streaming in the wind like Batman's caape And In the video you can see this person absolutely falling over themselves, tripping over debris after attempting to direct the back hoe in a predictable manner. And it seemed like they did not have a good time. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said that the suspects quote from AP, by the way, efforts to remove the vault proved futile after the arm of the backhoe sustained. They didn't even have to use a backhoe? I don't think so.. I don't think they got there. No, no.. Where did they even get the thing? They must have stolen that too. B backack to the AP, the suspects were able to move the cash machine to the sidewalk with the backhoe. By the way, y'all, do we not know that you don't steal cash machines because even once you get it to get into it is a whole other heist that you do in the privacy of your own garage or something. And usually if you do crack it open, I think it like blasts everything with ink or there's some mechanisms built in where there's no good way to break open It' extremely. You would have first off, you'd have to function at scale to make it worth it the equipment and expertise And then secondly, because you would have to function at scale, you would probably be limited to a certain radius of vulnerable ATMs, right that you could take. And so inevitably you get caught. cheheck out our brainstuff video on why you shouldn't rob a bank in general. by the way. The economics just aren't there Well, it would seem that they did steal the backhoe the details of this. Yeah. and some of the details do seem like this was a crime of opportunity that went horribly awry. I mean, this is not, you know, very, very well thought out, it would seem because they stole the backhoe from a nearby beach, it said. So I don't think a whole lot of forethought went into that unless they just knew that these backhes were around. there was a construction site, so there was a separate part of the plot to see the backhe and then target the ATM. The suspects were able to move the cash machine to a nearby sidewalk, but then the backhoe's arm started glitching out and stopped working and they tried manually lift the cash machine into a small truck. When that didn't work out, the suspects gave up and sped off in what police believe was also a stone.. And I guess that's a way to keep it clean, but also no Everybody Is it not are there not a finite number of backos in Trinidad and Tobago Ls like it's an archipelaga. O onene would think ate one without the backone capital of the world. No No. And a real funny detail here is that this attempt all on camera appeared to last more than ten minutes. So this was, you know, a real comedy of errors guys Well, speaking of crimes of opportunity, is pooping in the pool a cimes of opportunity? a crime of opportunity. Eity M isn sure and the and the poo puns. The poo puns really write themselves in this case It does feel more like a necessity if it happens, right? orr An emergency Ah, you know what What do they say? Necessity is the mother of invention That doesn't really apply here. Yes, a poo Dunnut. Well you get in situations a poo donenut a poo Dunnut is how the the UK sn. coined this particular debacle involving a serial pool pooper who was caught and admits to defecating in UK pools at least eighteen times Okay, that's not that's not a I think that's more''s more than that' that's more than answering to call of that's more than answering the call of nature moreore than answering the call of Poty or Duty, whatever we wish because you all everybody has look, we're not going to judge it too much folks. We're not making this about ourselves. We're saying statistically Most living people have been in a situation at some point. It's not your fault. mayaybe you ate the wrong thing, maybe you caught a bug, but no My guy. times feels like a fetish or premeditation or a certain a certain degree of agency M And this is not pools plural. This is sing pool. Yeah the Newcastle Ellman swimming pool in Mid Wales. I'm just going to read from the sign because as you know, sus as they are for hard news, I think they probably are doing a fine job in the reporting of this poo Dunn it. The filthy culprit, they say, admitted fouling the water at least eighteen times forcing the facility to shut on multiple occasions, leaving staff and swimmers disgusted Uh, and there's that caption, I love this under the picture of the pool, referring to pool bosses. I love the idea of being a pool boss. We're apparently baffled as human waste kept turning up in the water at the Newcastle Ellman E excuse me swimming pool in Mid Wales, the repeated contamination sparked a police investigation after months of disruption, causing costs to mount and frustrations to grow among regular users of the pool. Detectives have now revealed a nineteen year old man admitted to deliberately defecating in a public swimming pool Occasions. Any motive The motive remains unclear. You guys remember a long time ago, Ben, this might have been in the video exclusive days There was this concept of Um, Kids who were working or younger people who were working as lifeguards who wanted to get off of work. And they would throw candy bars or they would surreptitiously get a candy bar into the pool And the way it would the way would break down a little bit after entering the water for a little bit of time, somebody would notice scream thinking it was defecation and then they would get to close the pool down for a little bit because You had to like drain it or something and they would not have to work for a couple hours. It think was a full day Yeah, because then you have to have some pretty deep Caning, chlorination, filtration you have to yeah, you have to flush the system. Right the I do remember something about that and it does make sense folks, because for a lot of especially younger people, this is a summer job. you get bored. You know what I mean? You might just be doing it because It looks good on your big college applications. So if you can fudge the rules a little bit, then why would you hesitate Aa, Fudge the pools a little bit. All right, tip your servvers everybody Oh, you got to. Yeah, no for sure. Don't poop in pools and don't fau poop in pools either. I think is the takeaway here. A sppokesperson for the pool said the majority of our customers were supportive and understanding that we took the water safety measures seriously and closed albeit also frustrated at the frequency. We thank them for their support And this is apparently causing some hardship for the folks in charge, these pool bosses who say our funds have been depleted by these incidents. And any donations or offers of financial help would be greatly appreciated. So maybe we should just sort of go fund me for this Emlin swimming pool in Mid Wales, sorry, Newcastle And guys, I got to say, this story led me down a bit of a poo Dnut kind of rabbit hole, which led me to another story that I remembered seeing late last week about people who are pooping at concert venues Who are these animals? Noah Khan, I'm not familiar with his music, but apparently he's quite popular, a bit of a folk type artist is asking his audience to please not poop at venues, except in designated areas Apparently there have been multiple incidents at NoA Con concerts where you know, fans have trow and taking a poop right there on the ground He says to the fans in a plea for sanity, If you have to poop at a show, please, dear God, just go to the bathroom. I've pooped my pants as much as the next twenty nine year old You guys gott to understand. There's a venue worker out there with one hundred yard stare after dealing with that. He added, I pooped myself once in Charlottesville, but that's because I'm dedicated to my craft He just ye, he couldn't stop the show. And this all stemmed from a social media post that went viral of somebody actually photographing these little nuggets on the ground. And apparently the woman who's accused of doing this who has not been named pooped on the ground and then stepped in her own poop and tracked it throughout the venue Leaving a trail Oooop That is disgusting And just to wrap this part up here, the woman who apparently posted the content had this to say about it. Okay, so the person who did this was one row in front of me in section AA. If you've ever been to a concert, you know the AA is just the second set of alphabet rows. So that's pretty still close up to the front, on the floor, usually on like a metal grate kind of, especially if it's in a big old field kind of situation, which it appears this concert was I guess they didn't want to miss a couple songs to use the bathroom. So they just straight up oop themselves. Mind you, not liquid or anything in case anyone thinks this was an accident and started picking Picking. What does that mean I'd need to hear the rest of the quotations. That's where it wrapped up in this Boston. com article Wonder Well someome of the other of this indicated the woman got it on her foot and smeared it all over the place as she ran from her seat. And the TMZ article on the subject interviewed the same woman, I believe, and they used the term smear say as a joke about this kind of, you know, u, W worord of mouth discussion of this, you know concert floor pooping, But it would turn out that fans of Noah Khon are not the only ones exhibiting this kind of troubling behavior. Olivia Rodrigo recently called out fans who war diapers to keep their front row seats. She said this, I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so they can be front row. and that's been an experience as a performer that I have smelled the implication being she is smelling the excrements of her most die hard of fans and As the father of a die hard fan myself, hopefully not one who would ever resort to this kind of shenanigony. Get that barricade spot is very, very, very important to some people, but just, you know, I think there should be limits guys. I think there should be limits That's all I've gotten Apologies to anyone who was triggered by my poop centric stream there. But you know, I'm sorry guys. It wasn't liquid We also we also want to give you a behind the scenes look. Tparency is important to us. We encountered in this punishing heat, a couple of disconnects of our own. I just think it was a very funny distinction that the person questioned made sure to point out that it was definitely not liquid. So it was clearly on purpose. Less, your call is important to us, and more, how can we help less confusion more clarity. It's things like tapping your phone to use your TD card and getting your paycheck two business days early. It's getting more of what you want and less of what you don't That's how TD's making banking more human. Are we human And we've returned, guys, I keep thinking about that concept we talked about at the very top of this episode where PlayStation Network is taking down all of these bot videideos, movies And I looked online just to see how much it would cost to get a giant hard drive like an internal solid state drive for a PlaySation five. thinking maybe you could write a script or find a way to download those movies before they go. That would require a jailbreaking situation, wouldn't it? Maybe it could be done. I know that we've had stories recently about you know the right to repair and people you know, writing their own jailbreak software for PlaySation. No, that was actually a story that hit the news recently about PlaySation being terrified because someone had figured out how to jailbreak. sorry I mean interrupt that is just pinking my memory there Well, just in the spirit of pererhaps finding a way to retain the stuff that we have purchased at least in some way from a large corporation like that I was looking at how much it would cost to buy one of these big hard drives I realized, guys It cost six hundred dollars right now on Best Buyys website to buy a PlayStation five Slim console digital edition So like the lowest bar you can get for a PS five, it costs six hundred dollars. With that, you get eight hundred and twenty five gigs of space of a heart of hard drive space It costs also exactly six hundred dollars to buy a four terabyte SSD that you would put inside your PS five. That Isn't that crazy? the same cost. I didn't think mine was that much. I did get one, but it's been a minute, but I swear I would have remembered if it was quite that much. Granted, I don't have the slim version, but I imagine it's the same. Maybe it was that much. Geez, Louise. A PlayStation five pro right now is nine hundred bucks But It's crazy how much the prices on these things have risen with all the conflicts and shortages of the things required to make them. Have you seen guys the proposed or the announced pricing for the steam a machine, I believe is what it is called. It's over a thousand dollars. It's the actual steam deck or the French not the Dash manufactured comparison. Yeah. No, there's there's a steam kind of console. I believe it's called the Steam machine. mayaybe I'm getting the name wrong, but it is over twelve hundred dollars. There you go It is definitely a cube like device. but the Apparently the stats are not even that impressive and you'd be much better off building yourself a gaming PC. But yeah, man All of these companies are having to raise prices. Apple just announced they're raising the prices of a lot of their laptops and peripherals and things like that. And Xbox, I think announced they're definitely raising prices. So this chip shortage is no joke Good thing. we're in a record time of Prosperity. ye, thank God. We All right, well let's jump to one quick story here coming to us. From Futurism written by Frank Landemore on june twenty third. Here's the title. Meta's program that spies on every employee's computer just blew up in its face in spectacular fashion Let's let's learn about this. the chief technology officer over there at Meta, Andrew Bosworth He said that the data that was being collected would be tightly controlled in this fancy schmancy, very exciting employee spying program U However, the company is now pausing their tracking program because sensitive employee information was leaked internally. Now hear that again, leaked internally. There was a security notice that was sent out on Monday, june twenty second that said the exposed data included employees full AI prompts and transcriptions as well as performance data and even private conversations they were having The leak allowed the data to be accessible by Any employee inside Meta Kind of crazy Um And Meta has said that it's investigating the incident and confirmed it has paused the program for the time being. But, you know, They're keeping a lid on things, they say. The program was dubbed the quote model capability initiative Guess what it was trying to do, guys spying on every employee like that. What do you think they were what do you think their goal was? Productivity No build a better mouseetrap. There's been a great deal of internal dissent, as we know within Ma regarding the The idea that they're being forced to teach an automated program or an algorithm to do their job. So the obsessive monitoring is something they're fighting against. It is therefore, without reading all of the news here, it is therefore quite possible that internal dissent led to the leak So they're training their robot replacements. Yeah. justust Yes dig the grave teach teeach your grave digger how to build a better shovel Absolutely. Just to continue with Frank's writing here, he says that this thing, the model capability initiative, was intended to gather data so Meta's AI models could quote learn how people actually complete everyday tasks using computers exactly what we said, Ben. It's just hearing it as like how people actually complete everyday tasks using computers. It's just when you put it like that, it sounds totally innocuous, right? Sounds fine. We're just trying to make our really cool thing be even better Yeah. But as you said, Ben, there there was an incredible amount of backlash internally at Meta when this was announced because it did come at a time when Meta was firing people left and right to the tune of thousands because they are trying to AI everything. And shatify all of it. I. has very on theme Matt. He right? So That's why we led with that one. So we are switching back to a different topic because we got two quick ones that connect to each other U, Prettyool stuff, guys. Our pal. Not really our pal. The guy we have spoken about much over the past year and a half, roughly. Avi Lobe We remember this guy, former head of Harvard's astronomy deepartment now kind of doing his own thing He's got a super hot blog, especially when three Eye Atlas was around. My goodness, everybody was just hanging on the words of every post that he would make because he tended to just say things out loud. on like put it out there on the internet rather than waiting for some kind of review or some, you know, waiting for science to catch up to his concept I think that's why he was exciting to us. He would put his concept out there and we could think about it It did muddy the waters a little bit because a lot of outlets reported on him and what he was writing. It made it seem a little more, hey, this is actually happening rather than, hey, it's possible that this could be the case Does that make sense? Sure does. But I mean, yeah,, you know, it's sort of the nature of the lack of barriers for communication. J some people use it better than others and some people potentially kind of able to put information out there that could be problematic, I guess Yeah to some to some, right? Is that what the implication is? yes Well, yeah, The exciting part for us was that Bobby Lb was not afraid to say, hey, potentially, this is extraterrestrial intelligence of some sort or extra dimensional, or something that we may not fully understand yet. That's tremendously exciting and cool U att least I think that's the way he felt about him and that's why I felt about him Um He has been tapped, Abi Le has been appointed, rather, to helm a new scientific advisory council tasked with investigating the origins of mysterious orbs and all the other stuff that's been reported by the Navy and other militaries, not the Air Force because they're not allowed to talk about it for some reason.. And just to remind folks, is he is a credentialed astrophysicist, right? Like this is a smart dude the bona fides, which is why him speaking out on some of these fringier topics is turning heads Yes. Ben I was trying to figure out how I would how I would think about this thing that he's been appointed to. They're calling it a White House panel Um It seems like this almost tiny little think tank or u a committee if we were in the legislative branch doing this, it would be some subcommittee on something is it's what it feels like to me U I don't know. what what do you how would you describe it folks, First thing we have to understand is that being on, as you said, a panel or being like the leader or the czar of an initiative does not mean you get that golden goose. It does not mean you get top secret or compartmentalized security clearance. T Null's point, obviously Professor Loe is a big deal. We don't know him directly. We know people who do work with him or work for him. and he's a Harvard guy. He's an astrophysicist. He has earned his stripes question becomes Why did he agree to this Right? And what what sort of access will this position take? Will it be purely PR ceremonial? Will it be restricted to the the relatively scant data out there now in the public sphere or will he be read on to stuff? And it's It's weird because it comes up in every presidential election since World War two. are there UFOs and multiple presidential candidates, some successful, some not. have uh, have pitched this as like red meet or an add on to say, hey, if you guys lik me I'll figure out this alien thing and to date not one has done it. So what do you think, Matt? Is this going be is this going to result in something Oh By now, we know that we have to second, third and fourth guess ourselves when we're thinking about the motives of things this administration or any administration does, right? We have We have to think about what are the motives? Why would you do this kind of thing We do know that one ex president went on a podcast and talked about UAP, unidentified anomalous phenomena. And then there was all of a sudden a directive from the current administration to look into these things, right? to form these kinds of boards and to put out, you know to create a website that we've talked about before on our strange News episodes where they're posting the Navy footage that has been released and new things. and they're going to continue to do that Hopefully it is in the spirit of discovery, but something part of that second guessing, third guessing thing says it's not necessarily about that. And we've talked before about potentially being a distraction do like Abi's take He's quoted here in this AP newews article that you can find right now. The title is Harvard prorofessor with pololarizing Alien Theories is picked to lead new White House UFO couounsel posted on june thirtiet Obvious's quote is It's like a detective story It's a lot of fun, as long as you don't pay too much attention to the critics Or my dog L outside. I apologize. She's getting excited about squirrels Get get excited about that address Well, yeah, exactly. But I love that take of someone in that position that is excited about the work We've experienced that in our lives, right? When you're excited about a project you're working on, it changes how passionate it your work becomes on a daily, hourly, if not minute to minute basis Noel, in particular, I'm thinking about the soundtrack you've been making for a new show. And I just imagine how much passion you're pouring into that U Id really hope that somebody like Avi would do the same thing with this kind of position. Well, yeah, I mean, it does seem like he's coming at it from that place. given his willingness to put his reputation on the line, you know? It just seems like you wouldn't do that unless you fully believed in what you were talking aggreed And you may be wondering, okay, so this is a panel. It's not just Avi. whoo else does he have on here? acccording to this article. He has a handpicked team of more than a dozen scientists and UFO activists There's several in here that are named. We know Timothy Galud. G A L L A U D E T. This person is a retired rear admiral who has warned about UAP controlled by non human intelligence. This is a man with lots of experience who also claims that the United States government has recovered crashed aircraft of some sort that is of unknown origin, at least to the public unknown He also has a guy on there named Ben Lamb B E N L A M M And this is how it describes him. I don't know anything about this person. I'll have to look him up or we'll have to look him up separately It calls him a billionaire working to revive extinct species Do we think this is the guy related to remember that company we talked about guys that was attempting to bring the mammoth back There are several. But there's o, I hear what you're saying there, Matt. Let's Colossal is the name. Clossell is the name of one of them for sure. And they' the other folks looking for the Tasmanian Tiger and the oh gosh, of course the mammoth there's another one. The Ddo was one of our easiest projects Yeah. Oh, this is it. It's colossal and Ben Lamb is a part of it It's a then I remember looking at this website Ben we talked about that. It's it's this thing. So he's on the board wonder what his expertise is when it comes to, you know, UAP and things like that or why he would be considered to be on the board? Probably a lot of money and a lot of access to other people. I have a feeling. You're right, Ben Okay, lastast thing guys because we're thinking about this and what this panel is going to be doing, if it's going to be effective at all, if it finds something, what if it just finds some stuff that is just private? and super classified that is happening right now. Last story Fr Futurism. written by Victor Tenerman on june twenty fourth, twenty twenty six SpaceX launches secretive new spacecraft shaped like flying saucer I what You All right, we just got a few details to just we can understand Less than two weeks after its blockbuster IPO, Elon Musk's rocket company has chosen to keep its latest prototype test launch under tight wraps. Why very likely because the military is involved. Oh, In the early morning hours of Tuesday, june twenty third, a Falcon nine rocket launched a flying saucer shaped reentry capsule dubbed Starfall. I don't know what that either is epic or sounds super ominous. I can't tell There's moonall. There' that incredible. I know that one, incredible film
